The background for the Three Hags of Tepest in 5e is almost exactly the same as previous editions, except they also killed and ate their brothers and father after disposing of the gentlemen they all wanted for themselves. For the complete story, see The Three Hags.

Not only has the latest changes in Ravenloft resulted in a single Darklord for Tepest, but also reduced the land to contain a single village. Though, it seems that the Shadow Rift and Prince Loht and Queen Mab now dwell beneath Tepest instead of within their own realm. These fey are said to be responsible for much mischief and misery that occurs within the wild regions of Tepest. 

Once they were established in Tepest as Hags, the three sisters worked, for the most part, reluctantly together. Lorinda, the green hag, longed for a child. And when she asked her sisters, Laveeda and Leticia, to use their combined magics to make her one, they refused. If you think about it, it is a rather strange request to make of your siblings...AND Hags are known for seeing other Hag’s children as delicious treats...

Lorinda retaliated by secretly creating a construct and ambushing her sisters with it. Once subdued, she trapped them in their magical cauldron. Now, shep taps into their powers to continue her endless pursuit of having a child of her own. I will assume that traditional means or the clone spell are not an option for Lorinda…Not that the clone spell is without its faults.

Lorinda rules over Tepest as “Mother”, a guise she weaves over her true Hag form. She creates “daughters” from parts of animals and twigs woven with her magic and the magic she steals from her trapped sisters. She names every single one of these short-lasting constructs as “Laoirse”. I suppose after the 100th or so coming up with a new name would get difficult.

Mother moves about in a Gurgyl and “protects” the people (or her children as she likes to think of them) of Viktal - granting them bountiful harvests and protection from the fey and goblins that overrun the wild areas of her realm. In return, she asks for absolute devotion and adoration and some are apparently so devoted to their “Mother” they pluck out their own eyes for her...She can see through their empty eye sockets as if they were Hag Eyes. I find the need to collect my servant's eyes not necessary to be able to do this, but the idea of it intrigues me.

Mother also asks for a sacrifice during seasonal tithes to feed her precious Laoirse...so said “daughter” can live a little longer than normal. Four sacrifices a year seems a little low for a Darklord, but I cannot deny the power that accompanies a seasonal shift. Seems like a waste to use such energy to ensure your fake twig daughter lives for a few more days but...well, I...cannot be sure if I would not do the same for Irik.

Though Lorinda was clever enough to trap her own more powerful sisters, she still only rules over a single town. Nor would I enlist her to create the Crystal Orb I had the three sisters make for me as a single Hag will never have the same level of power as a complete coven. Lorinda will not be able to hide her true nature forever. Eventually her mask will fall and her sisters will escape.

Backstory: When Victoriya was just 10 she and her older brother, Mischa, were put up for adoption due to their mother becoming sick after working as a cleaner in Chernobyl. Little did they know, their adoptive parents were told they were receiving a Ukrainian toddler and Ukrainian infant. Instead they received one teenager and one pre-teen. They were both kept in the basement because they couldn’t just send them back. She co-founded the St. Cassian Coven, which may sound like a cult but it’s really just a midnight vampire roleplay group.

Some random facts abt her

She is neurodivergent and she’s hyperfixated(?)on the Twilight saga.

She made Mischa watch all of the Twilight movies.

In return she watched all of the Saw movies.

Mischa regularly brings her to choir practice because their adoptive parents don’t pick them up from school so Mischa drives them home.

The rest of the choir really likes her.

Except at some point Ocean started to criticize Twilight so she chucked a book at her.

Please tag images you post that deal with AI/robots or horror/eldritch themes! I have a very active imagination, & just seeing these things easily leads to nightmares. If you don’t tag those, I can’t follow you (but we can still write/plot). Those are the only two "triggers" that I have.

DANCE TILL YOU’RE DEAD- PLOT DROP #4

Off, off with your head, dance, dance til you're dead, heads will roll, heads will roll, heads will roll, on the floor

If a possessed pixie wasn’t enough to stop the dancers from attempting to win the Dance-A-Thon, this next blow might. As the participates were trying to restrain Dilan, the Supreme calling for all Spirit Raisers to come forwards to help lead the Coven through a spell that would hopefully expel the poltergeist from Dilan’s body, a young human who had been hanging back near the corner of the room, known by the name of Julian Chandler, begins to gasp out for air. Julian’s hands clutch at his throat as he signals for help. But, the witch, Jasmine St. Claire, quickly realizes that no Paramedics or CPR will be able to help him. You see, Jasmine, before turning a new leaf and joining the Coven, used to be a necromancer. As a child she brought two people back from the dead. One was Devrim Yener, a now resurrected and, as dark magic goes, Jasmine paid the price with the loss of her mother’s life. For years, she lived with the curse hanging over her head, knowing that someone she cared about still needed to die in order for her debt to finally be clean. And now is that time.

Julian Chandler will die during the Dance-A-Thon. There is nothing that can be done to stop this from happening. But, luckily for Julian, knowing of the curse and that he could potentially be its target, he asked Ralph Middlemas to turn him if the situation called for it. And now, it’s time for Ralph and everyone in attendance to make a choice. Do you panic? With someone dying do you try to save Julian despite it being a hopeless cause? Do you try to help unpossess Dilan instead? Do you flee the scene? Do you try to keep dancing? Do you try to bring in outside help? The choice is yours. What will you make of it?

REMINDERS

As mentioned before, given that our Spring Blossom Festival Event is a character-building/character-driven event rather than a plot-driven event, we wanted to try something new and integrate players storylines into fun chaos themed plot drops. We are trying these character integrated style plot drops out and will be dropping an OOC survey at the end of the event so that you can give us your feedback as to whether you like them and would like to see more of them or have your character participate themselves. So, please stay tuned for that!

There will be one more plot drop as well wrapping up the event with a fun added twist that you’ll want to keep an eye out for.

Okay... This is gonna' be a lot to unpack...

Okay, so a nasty family dispute nearly fractured Riku's entire coven and strained his relationship with his mother ( the head of the family ). She banished him with nothing but the clothes on his back and forbade him from returning until she decided he was welcomed back.

A stranger in a strange land, Riku quickly realized that he had no connections here in America and would need the protection of a powerful witch who would provide him with Guest Right/Sanctuary.

It was only through rumors and tips did he manage to track her down and convince her to offer him shelter until his mother summoned him back to Japan. At best, their arrangement was tense, and at worst, it was downright antagonistic. Riku's constant need for fresh blood and the callous way he treated her grated Raena's nerves, whereas Raena's withdrawn personality and lack of respect for his status as a high-ranking vampire infuriated Riku.

After a while, they managed to get along and become friends, but their friendship quickly spiraled into a passionate love affair. Riku would have stayed with her if his mother hadn't summoned him back home... But he was not to deny the head of the household, so he wrote a letter of goodbye to Raena.

On the same day he left, Raena found out that she was pregnant with his child. She tried contacting him, but it was all for naught, and she was left to deal with her pregnancy alone, detailing each moment in hopes that Riku would come back to her again.

Nine months later, Kira was born, and with her birth came new responsibilities for the hedge witch. She raised her daughter alone in her cottage and tried to move on from Riku by striking up a relationship with a fellow witch, Tomax Collette, but their short-term romance ended when she fell pregnant with his child. However, Riku would eventually come back, unable to take being apart from Raena, and came home to a little girl with his eyes and Raena holding an infant.

So, there you have it! The whole story! There was a lot of screaming and crying from Raena and a million apologies from Riku, but it was the children who healed the resentment Raena felt towards him for leaving, and she hesitantly agreed to give him a chance. They married, Riku cured himself of vampirism to age alongside Raena, and the rest is history.

When Lilith is in with somebody, she is all in. She’s devoted to Lucifer for absolute millennia, she plans to run off to Tibet with Adam, she’s ready to rule for eternity at Sabrina’s side, she’s willing to die for her child’s sake (and even kill for that matter). 

I’ve said this before, about her feeling things in extremes, and her huge capacity for love and attachment, but the reason I’m saying it again here in this way, is because I do sometimes see people questioning Lilith’s behaviour in Part 4 as being out of character, that the way she was with baby Adam, how attached and affectionate she was, was OOC. But it really isn’t; it fits Lilith perfectly. When she loves someone or is attached to them, she’s all in, she doesn’t do things by halves; it’s all or nothing. 

When she has baby Adam, she is willing to give up the throne for him (both in letting him be King while she’d be Queen Mother, and when she chooses death rather than the throne if it means her son doesn’t suffer), and this is far from out of character, as she planned to give up the throne in exchange for a life travelling the mortal world with Adam 2.0. Lilith has been shown to be willing to give up the throne for things she personally considers to matter more to her and be more important. 

The throne is only the most important thing to Lilith when she sees it as the only way to be respected and ‘complete’, when she sees it as the goal to get what she wants; respect and equality and appreciation. If she finds that respect and affection and appreciation and equality elsewhere with someone (be it a lover or child or friend or even an entire coven) she becomes much less concerned with the throne, to the point of even dismissing it entirely. 

But this behaviour, of putting her relationships above the throne (genuine relationships of respect and equality I mean, not relationships like the abusive non-equal one with Lucifer) and valuing those more abstract, emotional things over material ones, really shows that Lilith, at her core, has, what my Mum called when she was rewatching the show recently ‘the only modicum of decency’ that no one else in Hell has. She’s able to be considerate of people in general, she has the capacity and ability to recognise things that are of greater importance, and she’s able to recognise that certain people and relationships are much more important than things and are worthy of sacrifice.

[meta] Does Luce think her mother's actions are forgivable?

Generally speaking, Luce doesn’t think her mother deserves forgiveness for anything she’s done. And this comes from a whole host of reasons, the breaking point being the girl’s excommunication from the coven and subsequent estrangement from the rest of the Vural family. While Demir paid the girl’s debt without Nisa’s influence, Luce still believes her mother used her father to try and get their forgiveness. And that, honestly, makes Luce hate her mother more.

Luce has tried very, very hard to be someone that her parents-- but particularly Nisa-- could be proud of. But, she was always lacking. Never in any awful, catastrophic way, but Luce could never quite gain her mother’s approval. She was never as skilled with magic as Bea, never as outgoing as Nell. She was quiet. Moody. More interested in art than in studying, more interested in practical uses of fire than show stopping explosions. And Nisa never really paid much attention to her because of those differences. Who can blame her though? When Nell was such a troublemaker and Bea had so much talent and promise, who could blame Nisa for letting Luce slip through the cracks?

Luce can. And she does. At this point, Nisa is dead to Luce.

Biography

Kathy was born on the isle of Summerset. In a pretty nuclear family she rarely had anything to worry about and could be easily described as spoilt. But there was one special thing about her family. They were witches. She grew up with magic, from her mother using it and her father. And eventually when she hit puberty. She used it too. Unfortunately, Kathy never quite had the power that her parents hoped. She could levitate items, she could light a fire... but she wasn’t going to take over the world with the meagre powers she’d inherited.  Kathy put her time and effort into school instead, nurturing her brain as her muscle of choice over her magic.

 But as Kathy got older... a different kind of powers began to emerge. The witch was able to control her own dreams; formally known as Lucid dreaming. However controlling her dreams... soon began being able to control the dreams of others, causing people to sleep walk and even making people sleep when she wanted them to. To begin with the witch was frightened, but then the powers had never hurt her. She kept the powers secret, not wanting to worry her parents... or end up a study of the coven. 

Kathy went to university and studied Psychology where she became obsessed with the study of sleep. She studied sleep and went onto do her PHD in sleep research, soon becoming a Sleep Clinician. Kathy finds that she can now use her powers to help people. And that’s what she’s vowed to do. She hopes the day never comes where she has to use her magic to inflict harm... but with Summerset heading for darkness you never know what’s just around the corner.

 Sasha was an only child to the Vasiliev's, her mother passed away on the day she was born. Her family wasn't an ordinary family they were witches. Since young age, she was recruited to become a spy when she grow up. It was an organization (coven) that even her father participated when he was young. She excelled in everything, either physical activities or studies wise, always being the top one. She knew about the supernatural world, although some species she hasn't had a pleasure to meet before.       

She has a law degree, in which was part of her disguise as 'human citizen'. One day, her handler send her a mission for her to do. That was a complicated task, as she loves some challenge she accepted it. She bought a law firm, to be closer to get closer of target, and went to the location set (Traceless), this is when things went upside down. When Sasha was shooting her victim had ally, when she thought they were alone. She did murder her victim and the ally. She was losing so much blood when somebody appeared and saved her from the death she couldn't see who exactly was this person because she passed out. When she woke up she felt an unfamiliar hunger for blood and went killing some humans to feed her hunger. She got angry that she lost all her powers as witch, and became a vampire. Now she is trying figuring her life as vampire.

➤ BIOGRAPHY

Alfie’s story began with his father, as many stories do. His father was a powerful witch, the head of a coven who had a very magnetic personality and drew interest wherever he went. Alfie’s mother, Evelyn Taylor was an eighteen year old pub worker who met Alfie’s father and fell for him fast and hard. Their relationship was a whirlwind romance that ended when Eve became pregnant. When she told Alfie’s father that she was pregnant, he disappeared, leaving her alone in the pregnancy, and alone to raise the child. Her parents turned their back on her, leaving Evelyn in a new position, she had been raised a wealthy girl, and now she had no one and nothing. After getting in benefits and moving into a council estate, she continued to work at the pub until she gave birth, and named him for her father, Alfred Taylor. She gave Alfie the only name she had for his father as his surname, Norris. Growing up on the estate, Alfie was a sensitive boy, and was bullied constantly for his love of animals and his perceived weakness for being sensitive. The bullying taught him that the only way to keep from being bullied was by toughening up. Eve eventually started dating another person from the estate who had a son a few years older than Alfie, Alfie found himself with a big brother and started to follow his lead, skipping school, mugging people on the streets, stealing cars and eventually selling drugs. There was something amazing about the way Alfie was able to get into places, be it houses, cars, wherever he was trying to get into, he was fantastic at it, and eventually he became the go to for getting in and out of places.

His older brother was the head of a small gang and Alfie never wanted to turn against him, so when he was caught stealing a car he took the blame himself, giving his brother time to run off. The drugs found in his pocket were also added up against him, and not for the first time Alfie was in serious trouble. A member of the court who was a witch could sense that in Alfie and managed to get the case dropped if Alfie would go to a school to get an education. When faced with the choice, Alfie agreed to go to school, and he applied to the Institute and got a scholarship to his surprise, and he was sent to the Institute for the education that would hopefully set him free.
