fiance got me a kindle for my birthday <3
#val comes out of hiding#with a case and a grip strap (that interferes a little with the case but i'm making it work lol)#it'll be great for my arthritic sad poor hands lmao#and i can download ebooks to it! including fic <3#so like i have backup copies of my bookmarks and i threw them all on there#and threw one I planned to read on there too which i rb'd a few mins ago#it's great because we tend to be into those huge fantasy novels that I 0% can hold and take up a shit ton of space#like bringing brando sando books with me while traveling has been a PAIN lmao#now all i need is a battery pack to make sure it doesn't die. which is its own downside of course#and it means I can pirate so many ebooks. my god so many.#anyway to start with i think i'm gonna go back thru and re-read all my bookmarked fics i haven't read in a while#i'm quite stingy about bookmarks so they're all good (tho i have a soft spot for fluff in hindsight lol)#maybe i'll make a detailed rec post when i'm done?#in regards to fic too though I need to reach out to someone and say sorry for not being a very responsible beta.you know who you are.sorry:#but tangentially related; last night I had one of those core memory moments#it was bed time and fiance was snoozing half-asleep and i was reading fic on the kindle which works great in the dark btw. so dim#and i got up maybe 3 times in 30 mins or so go to the bathroom; get shit i forgot in the other room; etc etc#he's a light sleeper so he tends to wake up a lil#at some point he swapped our body pillows. i have no idea which time i got up it was. i didn't even notice for so long#i use a regular pillow and he has a longer actual body pillow so it was very obvious in hindsight#he loves to mess with me like that. little things make me laugh etc. and in the moment i realised i was just so happy#i'm here in this comfy bed with the man i love reading great fic with the gift he just got me and he's half-asleep and still trying to make#me laugh. and i laugh and laugh and laugh for like 5 mins because i'm so unobservant i didn't even notice it's not my pillow#and not even in a mean way. he loves that about me because he loves me. and he is just so good. so good.#and i was reading a fic about finding someone in any world. i would find him in any world. i would#and i just said 'i love you' and he cuddled into me and went to sleep.#<33333333333333333

hiya, you seem to read a lot of DBDA fics, do you mind sharing a little Payneland rec list? <3 (other stuff/gen is also fine!) thanks!
Yes! You got me so right, anon! And your ask came at a perfect time because just today I've thought about doing a rec list since I go through the tag on ao3 almost daily so I have soo many lol
1. A Heaven Like They Talk About - lovely feels, hot, top tier flirting, has a case-like plot
2. Won't Fear Love - sooo sweet! honestly I can recommend every fic in the "Dead Boy Detectives fics" series by this author, trust me, it's impossible to pick a fave out of the whole series
3. a certain step towards falling in love - jealous charles, romantic dancing, beautiful tiny bit of angst
4. It started with Eyeliner - all the feels, obsessed with the confession and the whole thing
5. The Case of The... - hot hot hot and very funny!
6. Of a youth who loves me - hits right in the heart, also defo read all works in the "Of a youth who loves me"
7. Bright as a Morning - I ate all the angst the fuck up, my fave flavor
8. to the bone - lovely angst again but also cute and wholesome
And I have many more in my bookmarks so if you need a part 2, I still have lots to share!

Hello it’s me Rui again! You’ve been so good to me recently for absolutely no reason at all but your own kindness. But I’m here to share some sickfics with you and the wonderful lurking community that looks at your page.
In my opinion, I think that finding good bsd sickfics is actually really hard. So many of them are too short, not enough buildup, emit enough suffering… you get the idea. I tend to find that sickfics are best (in my opinion) when there is good buildup and absolute suffering that then elicits care :]
I have 411 (mainly soukoku) bookmarks, that vary between hurt/comfort and sickfics. (Most are hurt/comfort because sickfics that I like are hard to find). I’ve spent an unholy amount of time going through thousands of bsd fics to find satisfactory sickfics, and I thought I’d share them here for anyone else who struggles finding them <3
Mainly focusing on emeto fics for this blog because that’s what the central topic here is lol. I hope you enjoy some of my stash! If you end up liking it, maybe I can share my larger stash of hurt/comfort. I wish this category wasn’t so sparse.
» Nothing || Fraink5 - https://archiveofourown.org/works/11365941
A sadder fic with a bit less emeto. TW for major character death. I know it’s not exactly emeto, but it has its moments, and I find that this short little fic provides some of the same things that standard emeto fics do. Definitively worth the read if you’re in the right headspace for character death.
» Nebulous || way1203 - https://archiveofourown.org/works/37985296
Beautiful Chuuya sickfic oneshot. It’s about the aftermath of corruption. There’s a lot of delirium, sometimes it is hard to suspend my disbelief, but I still enjoy this one a lot.
» You’re a Canary, I’m a Coal Mine || PlayRough - https://archiveofourown.org/works/37985296
One of the more popular bsd sickfics writers, but I found myself needed to include this fic. It is quite long, but it’s basically just Dazai suffering from sickness and Chuuya assisting him. I’m ashamed to say this has become one of my bedtime stories.
» surely i’ll go bite the dirty dust || lizzielovessharks - https://archiveofourown.org/works/36533236
I can confidently proclaim this as one of the most criminally underrated bsd sickfics I’ve ever had the honour of discovering. Chuuya and Dazai are severely injured after a mission, Chuuya can hardly walk, and he’s sick. They just get so tormented but there’s so much comfort in this short and sweet fic. The ending always makes me smile, and I find myself coming back to this one very often.
» In Sickness and In Heath || TheShortestAlchemist - https://archiveofourown.org/works/48006802
Chuuya taking care of Dazai :]
Less emeto but still provides much comfort for the soul.
» I’ll Take Care of You || Anonymous - https://archiveofourown.org/works/49949443
Sorry this one isn’t emeto either… but it’s chuuya being torment by Arahabaki so much that he gets a migraine that renders him unable to do anything. Still fulfills many sickfics desires.
» Poisoned Valentine || Wolf___Spirit - https://archiveofourown.org/works/53768785
Someone tries to send Chuuya home with poisoned chocolates with the intent to kill. However Dazai ends up eating them first, thus causing him to endure a lot of pain. (Read this honestly it’s wonderful)
» Burning Out || Trinity_of_Madness - https://archiveofourown.org/works/18899161
Long term corruption side effects… that’s all I’m gonna say. Take it or leave it as you see fit :] (it’s very fluffy, however it is quite bittersweet in case that’s not what you’re looking for)
» crimson headache, aching blush || kaiunkaiku - https://archiveofourown.org/works/24344119
More post corruption. Chuuya really needs a hug. He gets one. (Recommend reading lol)
» Underwater || TheGreatCatsby - https://archiveofourown.org/works/24344119
I’m so sorry. Not as much of a sickfic, but gosh it has to be one of my favourite comfort oneshots to ever exist. Chuuya does have a small emeto moment though. Ahhhh I’m so sorry for getting off track in these recommendations, I just have so many 🪦
» A Joyless Ride || calmlb - https://archiveofourown.org/works/55224694
This one is beautiful. I personally love the motion sickness Dazai headcannon. And this does a perfect job at demonstrating it. Dazai and Chuuya are on a mission, but they have to escape via Chuuya’s motorcycle. Dazai gets motion sickness that Chuuya had not considered.
» on standby for you || lonelydoctors - https://archiveofourown.org/works/48558496
Chuuya is hit with a virus ability and Dazai has to take care of him while he suffers. I really enjoyed this one.
» Flashover || affectropia - https://archiveofourown.org/works/35640841
Bittersweet concept that is the reason behind this fic being a sickfic. However, it has a fluffy ending, and is only the care taking half of it.
» beating drums and piping flutes - as they play the rain will fall || saanoir
This fic has to be another criminally underrated one. It’s the insomniac Dazai headcannon, except he starts feeling badly. All alone, he remembers a promise him and Chuuya made years ago. Hurt, even more comfort.
» I Think I’ll Just Collapse Right Here, Thanks || huntersserenity - https://archiveofourown.org/works/27219268
Chuuya has a drink poisoned. He is disoriented and not very functioning, but Dazai is there to assist him like he always is. (Very good, underrated, highly highly recommend)
Andd that’s all I got for now! Aside from another wonderful writers works that I didn’t include. Their username is ringingmaybelles and they make very very quality sickfics. Definitely read their work if you want the best there is to offer.
I’m sorry for the long list, I hope it is helpful/enjoyable. Sorry to come back and bother you with this essay. Thank you for letting me share these for the fellow sickfic enjoyers 😭😭😭
(Apologies in advance for the links not working I’m sorry ahh, you’d have to put it into your browser qwq)
RUI!!! You have no idea how much I appreciate you doing this for us 💖💖💖 hehehe...you're so sweet🙈🙈
I know a lot of people on this blog loooove SKK as well, and you've included many sick Chuuya fics here which I find more difficult to come across...this hand selected list is so beautiful and I really appreciate all of the effort you went through to give this to us 🥺💖
It took me a little bit to get to this ask chronologically between all the asks in my inbox but here are clickable links compiled for everyone's ease, since tumblr asks took yours away hahaha!!
I've included short summaries from the fic's original summaries along with Rui's descriptions, but please head the warnings and tags on the fics themselves!
Enjoy and share with fellow SKK sickfic enjoyers :))) I haven't read many of these and I'm so excited to dive in 🙏 let me know if any of the links are wrong so I can fix them, and if any of these authors see this and want to be tagged on tumblr ;)

Got a bit of a different bookbinding post today. @renegadeguild got an ask from a new binder saying they were intimidated by everyone's gorgeous binds (me too, actually, some of you guys are scary good), and so they've asked people to share their first binds. And I realized I'd never even taken photos of my first one, so here it is, warts and all:
Tumblr media
This is E.M. Forster's The Machine Stops, a public domain scifi short story that you can read for free at the link. The first reason I chose it was that it's an interesting story, and I'd bought a print-on-demand copy a few years previously that was just terrible. Baffling cover choices, basic errors in the typeset (like quotes that face the wrong way), weird size that didn't fit on my shelf; just not a good product. I couldn't do it with more indifference than the PoD people. The second reason was that I was too intimidated by the thought of asking a fic writer if I could bind their story and then producing something with a thousand sloppy beginner mistakes, and then they'd want to see photos and I'd have to show them this and it would have been mortifying, but Forster has been dead since 1970 so I could not disappoint him. It was very freeing. I bound it in 2021 as an experiment, to see if I liked this hobby enough to stick to it. The cover is green cardstock and faux leather scrapbook paper that I bought at... probably Hobby Lobby. I added the title later, as a practice project when I first got my Cricut; for the first two years of its existence it had a blank cover.
There are more photos under the cut!
Tumblr media
In this photo we can see:
--Too much glue when attaching the leather-print paper, so it oozed out onto the cover.
--Cricut font too thin and too much heat/too long of a press, so the letters have gaps and the glue also oozed out here. It's a continuing theme with this bind.
--I tried to use a bone folder to give it a sharper hinge crease and accidentally pressed too hard and tore a hole in the paper; you can see this in the little white vertical line near the top of the hinge
Tumblr media
The fore edge is not square. I actually don't remember why this happened. I may have eyeballed the board position when I made the case, or the paper may have slipped while the glue was wet, or I cut it crooked and didn't notice till later. Either way it's bad enough that the book doesn't stand on its own. There was a crooked man/who walked a crooked mile/and found a crooked sixpence/against a crooked stile./He bought a crooked cat/which caught a crooked mouse/and they all loved together in a little crooked house, and I bet they read this little crooked book from their little crooked library.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Top view, you can see that the case is too big and the text block doesn't sit straight in it. It has no endbands or bookmark, and it's hard to see in this photo but there's glue on the top of it, at the spine. This still happens to me but I know how to trim books now so this bit gets cut off. You can also see that the scrapbook paper has some cracks where its white core is visible. This is why I do cloth or actual faux leather on the spines now. Endpaper shows uneven trim (did I not use a ruler for this??), too much glue causing major seepage, and it doesn't sit evenly in the case. I'm not sure if this is because of the case itself being crooked, a badly-trimmed endpaper, or if the text block is also crooked. Or it may be a combination of all these factors. Unclear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Typeset photos! Here we see:
--Title page has a page number on it. This is a pet peeve of mine and I fixed it after this book.
--There is no half title, summary, or metadata. All my later binds have these things.
--It's typeset in Times New Roman. Unlike many I don't actually hate this font but reading it reminds me of being in high school so this is the only book I used it for. Baskerville is my beloved now. The font is also much bigger than it should be. It's not huge but it's like a large print book so it feels weird for me to read it.
--Lol what are margins
--Lol what are page headers
--Actually I think I left the headers out so it wouldn't have a header on the first page of each chapter, because I knew about page breaks but not section breaks at this time.
--It's on regular-ass lightweight printer paper. There's nothing wrong with this but I switched to heavier weight paper shortly after to help with bleed-through and the light stuff feels so flimsy now.
--I didn't understand how Word's book fold worked at this time, so when I had to set the sheets per booklet and it had an option for 4, I chose that thinking it would give me 4 sheets of paper (16 numbered pages) per sig. It did not do this. It gave me 4 numbered pages per sig. So every signature is 1 sheet of paper. Every page is its own signature. I am still mad about this but it sure drove home how the setting works and also how to make kettle stitches since you make one after every sig. A book of 48 pages has 12 signatures which is just ludicrous.
--There's no photo of this but it has a piece of printer paper on the spine because I didn't have mull. I did use PVA though. Lots and lots of PVA.
--It's stitched with regular sewing thread, which means it doesn't have much swell for a book with that many sigs, but it's less sturdy and more likely to tear the paper.
And that's that! It probably sounds a bit like I was tearing it to shreds but I actually love this book quite a lot. I learned so many things that I applied to my next binds, it was an invaluable experience. It let me fall in love with the hobby so I could make the awesome things I make now. I've got those all posted on my main blog under the tag #snek makes books, or you can see them all on my side blog @papersnakepress. For a first book it's functional and readable, and still better than the PoD copy I had before. I've been thinking of doing a rebind as a sort of progress gauge, actually. Maybe next year.

What was Abrams favorite thing that Andrew gave him during his courting attempts?
Okay I’ve been sitting on this one because I was trying to give it my best answer and like. I still don’t know lol
I know that people in the replies and tags are going to have incredible answers as well so I want this to be more of a “here’s a collection of things he likes the most” and I get to start so here’s my take:
It’s a book. I hear your valid confusion but LISTEN. In the stretch before Abram finally realizes what’s been going on with the gifts/etc, Andrew gives Abram a book - could be poetry, could be a romance story, idk - with a ribbon just barely peeking out of one page. Abram, obviously, doesn’t think much of it and he’s never been big on reading (I don’t know why I never have Neil liking to read lol is that canon) so he keeps the book on his dresser or something like “I’ll get around to it if he insists”
And then after Abram actually, clearly says he can accept Andrew’s advances, Andrew remembers about it and realizes Abram must not have ever opened the book because he would have figured this all out before now if he had
He asks him about it, if he ever read it, and Abram’s like “…no”
So Andrew tells him to. Later, when Abram’s back in his room, he picks up the book and checks out the first page, and it’s something pretty obviously unimportant or unrelated. And the next page. Eventually he thinks to check the ribbon; he flips to the pages and somewhere on them a quote is underlined in steady deep blue ink:
My glances through the eyes of friendship grow more brief by the day. You remain in the kindest, softest embrace of my heart, but now I find myself watching, hopeful, and friends do not look at friends the way I sometimes look at you.
Stunned, in a word.
But this is something he can figure out. This isn’t flowers - they’re lovely but die so quickly, and Abram doesn’t know the language of them or which ones Andrew would like. It isn’t meals shared, because that’s too common by now. It isn’t direct words or actions of affection because those are far too awkward for someone with so little experience with them. But Abram looks at this book, sees exactly what to do with it, and he knows certainly that this is a way the prince wouldn’t mind communicating because he was the first to do it. Abram doesn’t even have to be around when Andrew reads it.
So Abram spends the next several days scanning the book when he has time, finding many quotes he could perhaps imagine returning, finding a few he keeps marked just in case. Then he finds one that he doesn’t even bother marking with a scrap paper, he immediately picks up his pen and underlines it.
I look at the moon and she has your face: the brightest thing in my sky, the most beautiful, and so, so far away.
(And @jtl-fics had the sweetest idea of Abram pressing and keeping the flowers from the bouquet Andrew gets him in this post; and that he uses some to make bookmarks probably because he knows how much the prince likes books. He would definitely use one of those bookmarks to mark the page he underlined rather than the scrap ribbon 🥰)
Anyway the next time Abram sees the prince he wordlessly hands him back the book. Andrew sees the new mark but doesn’t try to open it yet (which relieves Abram more than he’ll admit), just keeping it under his arm until he has somewhere to put it. But it doesn’t take him near as long to find another quote, since he tends to get distracted reading the context or surrounding passages; he underlines the very next sentence and gets the book back to Abram the next morning. Understanding the risk of Abram’s misunderstanding and completely willing to explain himself in plain terms when Abram asks. Still with the pressed flower bookmark.
To have you near enough to touch should surely destroy me.
When Abram opens it later he first sees that the pages look very familiar - those passages look very familiar - that quote is certainly familiar. And he gets very worried very quickly. Maybe Andrew didn’t like that one, maybe Abram had chosen wrong and he didn’t know how to do this as well as he’d thought. But he doesn’t close it fast enough not to finally, mercifully read on and realize that some of the ink on the page is not his own black ink. After it, dark enough to almost be black in the wrong light, is Andrew’s dark blue.
But after reading Andrew’s quote he does in fact close the book quickly, sitting back and just staring, mostly because he’d surprised himself; he won’t know Andrew’s intention for certain until he asks, but this time - likely for the first time - Abram looks at the word destroy and doesn’t immediately think of the harm he’s done. (Andrew’s new, unfamiliar way with words had to work it’s way into Abram’s understanding eventually.)
They go on as long as there’s still quotes they like in the book, and only once does Andrew get frustrated that Abram stole one of his before he could get around to using it.
Anyway thank you for the sweet ask, here’s a quick sketch of Andrew reading to Abram in the library

Sooooo I recently found your blog and started looking into fauxcest. I wasn’t sure where to look. Still don’t know many places. Like the main sites I’ve seen don’t have a lot. Like the same 10 videos uploaded from different accounts. Never thought I’d have a tough time finding content on the internet lol any sites you suggest? Also, you have fully got me into this now 😂 the fantasy aspect of it is sooo intriguing and honestly super hot! So thank you for corrupting me lol
I.... don't watch porn. Like, basically ever? I find it to almost all be over produced and fake in a way that's very off-putting to me, largely because what actually turns me on is the mental side of things: arousal, intimacy, emotional connection. Those are hard to communicate in a 20 minute video of two strangers fucking according to a predetermined script
Also, the reason you're not finding very many videos is because depictions of illegal acts by real peopls (even if it's being acted out and not actually done) range from legal grey area to an absolute no, your porn company will get shut down and there will be charges filed situation.
The key here is to get into written porn, which does not have the same legal limits on it. Personally, I've been reading erotic fanfiction the whole time, regardless of me having any knowledge of the source material. Archive Of Our Own is the place to go, it has a comprehensive tagging system meaning you can search by specific kinks/story types! Personally, my usual filters are to go to whatever core tag I'm looking through (in this case it'd be "sibling incest") and then set rating to include only explicit ratings, exclude any fics with the rape/non-con warning, change completion status to complete works only, and set my word count to 3000-30000, as I've found that range is mostly likely to have well written stuff. Sorting by bookmarks rather than by date updated will give you the most popular fics first rather than the most recent, so you'll also find higher quality stuff that way! Sometimes I'll exclude the "established relationship" tag as well because I like first time sex best. Depending on your sexuality, you might want to change the "categories" section to m/f, m/m, f/f, or multi so match. The nature of erotic fanfiction specifically is that most of it will be m/m, so the filters might come in handy for that!
Hopefully this helps, I know it's more complicated than just like... searching for porn, but when you're into a kink that's genuinely not socially acceptable you've gotta put in a little extra work to get your rocks off lol

Omg the reblog person is so real for that. I understand that Tumblr doesn't have an algorithm so liking doesn't functionally do anything but I get extremely anxious about reblogging so the guilt trips are really awful for me (and I assume it's the same for others with similar issues.)
Uh- bit of a tangent/rant below. For context I'm an "Audhd-er" (I think that's the term people use, it means I'm autistic and I have ADHD)
I understand most of the time they are over-exaggerating their feelings on the matter. In posts about reblogging stuff from writers and artists it's always kind of a "LIKES DO NOTHING SHOW YOUR LOVE WITH REBLOGS LIKES MEAN NOTHING"
I've always found that a bit odd. As someone with two mutuals (one of whom is rarely online) and 1 normal follower my reblogs really aren't gonna do much so I mostly reblog stuff my mutuals might like and occasionally make my own posts. (Keeping everything else private for the most part) When I get a like it always brings a warm fuzzy feeling because it means someone enjoyed my reblog or post enough to share with me that they liked it.
I've only had one post that breached containment and it was a fun weekend of checking out the blogs of people who liked it! All in all I think maybe people are just unaware of the anxieties that come with being online and the people who experience those anxieties are too anxious to really speak up about it. I mean look at me I'm chilling behind an anon mask rn (I rarely send an off anon ask lol.)
For a website dubbed by its users as the neurodivergent website, some people forget to consider that learning and working within the culture of a social media platform can be extremely stressful for many types of people, let alone an autistic person such as myself (the ADHD doesn't help either). Some of us would prefer to lurk in our private blogs, only coming out of our comfort zone when we feel ok to do so.
All in all, a reminder to reblog is perfectly fine, but please refrain from the guilt-tripping and social obligation type of thing— or at least be aware of it and try not to be offended if one of your mutuals struggles to reblog.
Now this is all my personal perspective, other people will likely have completely different experiences but I wanted to share in case people were confused on why it's an issue for some people. Thanks for reading this whole thing and I hope you have a lovely day <3
I think I get what you're saying -
For a lot of people it genuinely takes a surprising amount of guts to put themselves out there on the internet in any way, even if it's anonymously, and that includes things as simple as reblogging a post.
It's not just Tumblr either. You also see it on Reddit and Twitter, and in online games where people just want to keep to themselves and not interact with strangers. Some people just want to lurk, maybe liking or upvoting, but not commenting or reblogging, because that feels like making yourself more "visible" somehow, in a way simply liking posts doesn't.
It's difficult to put into words, but I feel it's kind of like being in a university lecture with 50+ strangers. Liking is sitting in the back quietly taking notes. Reblogging is like putting your hand up and giving an opinion when the professor asks for one.
It's true that only reblogging actually contributes anything functionally, but there are plenty of people, especially neurodivergent people, who might struggle with that kind of thing, but still want to show some appreciation, or just save it as a bookmark.
So, I think that's partly why that kind of guilt-tripping or threatening reblog bait can be so stressful. Tumblr is a comfort app for a lot of people, who just want to curate their own little private space. Reblog baits are like someone banging on your door, telling you that you're actively doing something wrong by keeping to yourself, and (in the case of "I'll block/unfollow you if you like/read but don't reblog" baits) people will hate you for doing it.
It also implicitly takes away the sense of control you have over your own personal online space. Ideally, you should be able to do whatever you want with your own blog - no one should dictate your own online experience. So, if you just want to reblog things you like or want to share, at whatever pace you feel comfortable with, there shouldn't be anything wrong with that.
But reblog baits seem to suggest that you shouldn't have that control, and there are certain things that you have no choice but to put on your blog, and it has to be right now. And I feel that sense of having control suddenly snatched away from you without warning could also be a major source of anxiety for a lot of people who see Tumblr as a source of comfort.
With all that in mind, while I do believe that it's not quite this simple, considering artists and writers, and especially those who rely on commissions, do need exposure from reblogs, I also feel it's difficult to blame people for finding very aggressive reblog baits stressful, especially when you're suddenly blindsided with them.
At least, those are just my initial thoughts based on what you said, but absolutely let me know if you disagree with any of this or feel I misrepresented what you meant <3

Cleaning up your digital space
With my trying to make my digital experience more useful and fulfilling, one thing thats helped is just cleaning up things. It makes things run nicer and look nicer, plus just overall gives me a better idea what's going on around my computer (I have found so many old files I completely forgot I had.) in a way its actually a lot like cleaning my actual house lol- some things are to keep things running well or not lose stuff and others just make things look and feel nicer. also if you're objectum &/ posic it can be a great bonding experience to take care of your tech.
this cleaning may include:
deleting files I do not need
backing up files (I like physical drives) ^- both those include photos
cleaning out my email inbox
unsubscribing from things I don't want/need
organizing bookmarks
making new passwords for everything ^- make NEW passwords, try not to reuse old ones ^- Highly recommend using a password book
clearing cache & cookies for websites
setting a new home/lock screen
reorganizing apps
deleting apps I don't need
clearing out my many tabs Iv'e had open for days ^- use bookmarks for these
setting a new keyboard background on my phone
changing my custom mouse design
removing unneeded browser extensions
clearing out drafts on social medias.
the physical parts of tech might also benefit from some cleaning too:
cleaning the screens with microfiber wipe
brushing between/under keyboard keys
cleaning the inside your phone case (& outside but I feel like the inside oft gets forgotten) if you have a computer with many wires, setting up some cable management
plus checking how much time you spend on certain apps if you think you use too much and setting up limits if necessary.
Now I don't do this all at once nor do I have a specific schedule, I'm not nearly that organized in my life yet. but some things I'll try to do every couple months and others are just whenever my phone starts saying I need to clear space.

Hi, hi !
I've been getting back into tbhk lately and found your blog out of nowhere and wanted to say thank you for the great content. I've really been enjoying reading your posts !
So I wanted to ask, bc I saw you mention jp tbhk twitter, would you happen to have some twt acc recs/keywords for someone to search ? Since my hyperfixation seems to be back on tbhk/amatsuka, and I refuse to set a foot again in the cesspool pit that is the western fandom..... /shudders
Thanks if you do, but also thanks if you don't !
sure, I'll link most of the accounts I follow...!
from there, you can look at anyone's likes or retweets and find more branching artists and commentators to follow :3 a lot of people quiet down between things like chapter or volume releases. You'll see them explode the moment stuff is happening!!
I'll also suggest some other things to liven up your life and suckle at outside of twitter, and I hope that's useful. There is honestly so, so much out there, I don't think anyone needs to bother with most western engagements... it's enough to follow a couple of ramblers and helpful translators, a fangirl or two, and leave it at that.
there's also always a 5ch thread that updates... sometimes greatly amuses me
bilibili meanwhile is a chinese website similar to youtube (you won't be able to 'signup' for it though, as it requires an ID... if you want to save anything, you should just make a bookmarks folder in your browser. you can ignore notifications from bilibili to sign up and resume videos, so don't be intimidated. to turn off scrolling comments, click the little television symbol under the video) and there's tons of wonderful stuff there, like people doing vocal imitations of the twins and covering songs, animations to songs, AMVs, MMDs... there are some unique tags for certain trends, suchas MMD usually being tagged with 【地缚少年花子君MMD】 BUT not all videos bother, so you're best to just click around relevant things and plug in various terms and see what you get!
nicovideo also exists and you can use the tag 地縛少年花子くんMMD if you like MMD! I love this HanaNene one for Picture Perfect...
as for terms, here are various in different languages (with apologies that I can't provide all for all languages ... but it's a start!)
あまつか / 아마츠카 - amatsuka つかあま / 츠카아마 - tsukaama
普司 - amanetsukasa
司普 - tsukasaamane 柚木兄弟 - yugi kyoudai/yugi brothers 25日は柚木の日 - the 25th is yugi day 柚木の日 - yugi day 花寧々 / はなねね - hananene 普寧々 - amanenene あまねね / 아마네네 - amanene つか寧々 / つかねね / 츠카네네 - tsukanene 花寧々つか / はなねねつか - hananenetsuka 花寧々司 - hananenetsukasa
more likely what you would find on bilibili/CH fandom
under the cut here I'll link twitter accounts. Many periodically lock/private, especially while actively discussing spoilers for new events.
a note about a kind of cultural difference; western fandom often has a much, much stricter divide between things like hananene and amatsuka, with fans of one rarely tolerating the other. It's not often the case over yonders; often everyone will celebrate hananene illustrations and cute moments, or laugh about tsunene kiss and joke about them dating, even if the artist only draws the twins. That is to say that certain types of people won't survive in this environment!!!!!
https://twitter.com/ariarimap -- presently, mostly makes tsunene content, but likes the twins and hananene as well! https://twitter.com/bami_ko83 -- industrious twins stan. More of a tsukaama than amatsuka https://twitter.com/emotaro_0 -- twins stan! not very active right now but comes & goes! https://twitter.com/grcmk0 -- twins stan… https://twitter.com/bluehyke -- sadly not active anymore, but wonderful twins and some hananene https://twitter.com/chi1000ex -- atmospheric twins stan https://twitter.com/silawin1122 -- twins stan https://twitter.com/Wakame_21 -- mostly into the twins, dabbles in other things like tsumitsu lol, and engages in more fandoms than just JSHK https://twitter.com/Miiiiiihana -- a delightful tsukaama filled with hijinks. one of my favorites!! very funny tweeeets too when events GO DOWN!! https://twitter.com/1Shinru -- mostly a hananene! occasionally some flirty twins stuff hehe https://twitter.com/askrhnkkn -- amatsuka! my favorite reactions and responses to things..... my favorite amatsuka account! https://twitter.com/furagi_2585 -- tsunene!!!! https://twitter.com/appleteasoda22 -- hananene !

Hi dear notetaker. I need a suggestion for my English class. You know, Ramadan is coming soon and I wanna do an activity with my kids. They're third graders and very enthusiastic about ramadan. But I don't know where to start. Do you have any ideas or suggestions for it? 🌸
Yes!! Are your kids primarily muslim? In any case, here are some that we've tried before / wanted to try - the kids I work with mostly are 6th grade so some of these may be geared toward older kids. Feel free to take any of these ideas and adjust them.
Ramadan Activities for kids (+ adults tbh)
1. Ramadan bingo - each box filled with a good deed and they put a sticker when they complete it, and you can give multiple levels of prizes depending on if they got a bingo / how many bingo lines they can make, or if they complete everything on the bingo board - we gave fidget toys from amazon as prizes. (Based on the hadith that the best deeds are those that are small but consistent)
2. Sadaqa Jar - everyone gets a little jar which they decorate with stickers / washi tape / markers provided and they use it to store their change or a dollar each day and then you can collect it every friday or right before Ramadan ends to donate to a cause
3. Good Deed Jar - fill a jar with 30 slips of paper, each with a good deed. Every day they pull out a slip of paper and do the good deed.
4. Everyone writes one major thing they are going to pray for on a slip of paper, the papers get shuffled and distributed and everyone has another person's dua that they will ask for in addition to their own. (This activity fits well while teaching kids about the hadith that if you pray for something for someone, the angels pray for that same thing for you + gets them in the habit of praying for others)
5. Make a paper Fanoos (Lantern) + chain links - a childhood favorite that I did myself as a kid - its fun to make and doubles as decorations that you can hang in your classroom / masjid for Ramadan. There are countless tutorials online and you just need paper, scissors, and a stapler (or glue)
6. 'Stained glass' effect suncatchers using cellophane wrappers / tissue paper (link) that they can hang on their windows - there's a lot of ramadan lantern tutorials if you search, here's a more advanced one
7. Making and decorating bookmarks to be used while reading qur'an (Since Ramadan is the month of the Qur'an)
8. Making moon-sighting binoculars (link) - connecting to the lunar calendar
9/10. There are also really great Ramadan related picture-books that are out -I've seen some in my library and they can be read aloud for story time. I'd also recommend Adam's World (it's a puppet show for kids about different islamic concepts and I like it because it's not the overstimulating super colorful filled with music type show.) The Ramadan episode is about adam, a kid who is fasting for the first time and trying to get thru the day learning that it's not just about avoiding food, but it's also about doing good deeds (not to be biased but it's what I watched growing up in the early 200s lol so I show it to my students too sometimes)

I seriously love your fic 'Social Media + Insomnia = Epic Fails'. It's honestly amazing that you managed to write an entire fic through just snapshots of different social media. If I may, can I ask how you did it? I can't imagine that it would be easy, considering that there's barely any conventional dialogue or real action scenes.
Oh my gosh, yay!! Ironically I just reread that one the other night. It was very self-indulgent, but I'm so happy to hear so many other people could enjoy it too! 🥰✨😊
There are definitely some parts that are easier than others. Interestingly enough, I probably have the hardest time with formatting and the overall structure of the fic when I publish than the writing itself. I love playing around with HTML, but Ao3's HTML is notoriously hard. (Also, tip: the Rich Text Editor doesn't always allow the same amount of versatility, hence the HTML.)
For me personally, it was important for me to have plot in the background. It doesn't have to be deep plot, but just some sort of guideline that I could follow so I know where it began and end.
In that fic, I'm sure you noticed, things went down in the background like Danny joining the Justice League and becoming Ghost King and Tim getting overshadowed by Pariah Dark. (Yes, I did try to heavily imply that Tim was overshadowed by Pariah for five days. That's a fun plot point lol.) But the overarching story that people really came for was Tim and Danny being lovesick idiots and trying to navigate being public personalities and getting together.
You are totally right about unconventional dialogue. There is a bit at the end where we get actual dialogue with quotation marks and dialogue tags, but otherwise we just get a lot of chatting sequences. For me it was very important to get the tones right. Little clues in the messages that shows how they're feeling or what they're implying. And for things like sarcasm, which don't translate through writing the same way, you can even have characters call each other out on it. I know I've done the same for "Insomniacs Anonymous". (Can you tell I love social media fics? lol)
One of the things I will say about this kind of fic format is that it's so much easier to write fight scenes. On one hand, you don't get really inspiration scenes where your characters are out there kicking ass and saving the day, but that's also a let less work on your part. In this case the details aren't as important, it's the results. So that's why we just see Breaking News alerts.
For this fic, it's kind of a mixture of present-action and reactions. There are parts where we watch as plot points unfold but we also learn about other plot points via the reactions from other people on social media.
There are also smaller things you can do. Whenever I showed Danny's Twitter profile or YouTube channel, I changed little details to show the passage of time. I showed him steadily gaining new followers or subscribers, or in the case with YouTube, I showed his number of videos slowly ticking up higher. It's very easy to miss, and maybe most people don't notice it at all, but it's also a good bookmark as an author.
If you're looking for inspiration or ideas, then I would definitely recommend looking into other social media AUs. There's a canonized tag for it on Ao3, but the social media fics I read that helped me with "Social Media + Insomnia = Epic Fails! (Not Clickbait)" were from Yuri! On Ice, Batman, and BNHA. If you're interested in more specific fics, let me know and I can make up a list of recs. Even if you're not into the fandom, they offer some good ideas for what it can look like.
All in all, I'm really glad you liked that one! I have a number of more ideas for social media fics going forward like a Model AU, my Actor AU, and then a AITA Reddit fic which I believe I did post a while ago as well. I can't promise it'll be soon, but the format is so fun and I hope you get to have some fun with it too. 😉

What's IA and why is it relevant? Lol
So I'm gonna answer this in good faith, but I will point out that this is a very weird query to send to a stranger. This is the kind of basic research you should do on your own whenever you encounter topics you don't understand. Like, if you're at the bare bones basic, starting point of a discussion, it is actually very rude to walk up to a stranger participating in that discussion and ask them to give you the primer. Don't do that online, certainly do not do that in meatspace. Your teachers and professors are paid for their time to educate you, random strangers are not and unless they've clearly and openly signaled they're available to provide that kind of barebones, basic primer? Exceedingly rude to just feel entitled to demand that explanation from them.
If you don't know where to start, start with google. I know, google is not great these days, but you can add ?udm=14 to the base google URL to get the strict results, no AI slop added. Or you can bookmark this:
From a basic google search you can then go to wikipedia for a more in depth primer, and hunt down the sources and citations to track down more thorough explanations and resources.
Once you have a more nuanced understanding of the topic you can also search for forums and communities where the topic is discussed and track down more resources there if you need them.
But you have to do it. Because you have to be responsible for your own learning.
And also because asking random strangers, disregarding the matter of manners entirely, subjects you to their bias. Case in point, I will, as I said, answer the query in good faith, but that's a good faith answer with my bias. And because they're my bias, I can't signal them out for you. I might not even know they're biases.
Do yourself a favor and get in the habit of not delegating all your perspectives and opinions to others. Your very sense of self is built in your convictions. You become the person you want to be, by sculpting yourself with knowledge. You do yourself a disservice by letting other people determine who you are and what you should think.
That said!
IA stands for the Internet Archive, which you might know for their URL, www.archive.org They're a US based non profit organization dedicated to archival work effort. Their most famous and well-known project is the Wayback Machine, a webcrawler archive that maintains records of a good chunk of the lightnet. The lightnet, surface web, indexable web or accessible web is the part of the internet that can be reached through the use of standard, common web tools like browsers (windows edge, google chrome, mozilla firefox, etc) and search engines (google, bing, duckduckduck, etc). This is the thing that a lot of people are worried about being lost, since a good chunk of the last thirty years of the internet no longer exists or is accessible anywhere else. They also curate digital collections of materials otherwise unavailable to wider audiences, like out of print books, music, tv shows, and other media.
The Internet Archive is relevant because it is a well-established, well-known institution in the sphere of conservation that plays a crucial role in the preservation of modern, contemporary history. They have under their stewardship countless, invaluable assets that are simply not available anywhere, and they are one of the most public, vocal advocates for digitalization of and, in their view, access to information.
The conversation surrounding access to information and also accessibility of resources as well as the crucial role libraries play in their communities, often in the physical world and which cannot be digitalized by their nature as a Third Space, is a nuanced, often thorny one. Mostly because people whose idealism stops at ideas and has never contended with the practical application of any of those ideas, are very bad at understanding that they live in a nuanced, imperfect world and there is no true one size fits all solution to literally anything.
This particular group is having A Really Rough Time handling the fact their darling IA fucked up spectacularly in a preventable, observable way, and are trying desperately to silence any criticism about the IA leadership - which is... flawed, to say it politely - by screaming about bootlicking and fantasizing about The Great Revolution that will surely come one day to fix all of their problems.
It's all very Evangelical, if you ask me about it.
But then, most Americans are Culturally Evangelical and don't even realize it. So!
It's what it is.

Hi! I am a new environmental law student, and I am just starting to get into reading cases and legal jargon. Do you have any tips or tricks for reading long and complicated legal documents?
I specifically need help with annotating them so that I can focus on the crucial parts and not get lost in the length/repetitiveness.
Thank you so much!!
hi there! good news is: reading long and complicated legal documents gets easier with time!! bad news is it only gets easier because you’ll read so many of them it’ll become second nature to you lol. i haven’t had environmental law yet, but i have some general advice re: annotating cases that might help:
1. names, dates, ages and specific locations are always assumed to be important until proven otherwise, and this is especially important when you’re working with newer legislation or statutes
2. legal jargon: write down what you don’t know, even if you can’t stop to check it at the moment. if you absolutely cannot move forward without understanding what that term / word means or grasping from context alone, stop everything you’re doing and go research it, even if it’s just a quick skim over the legal dictionary. i have a somewhat easier time with latin because i speak three romance languages (one of them being my mother tongue), but legal terminology in latin is still tricky and flashcards are your friend. and don’t get me started on german contract law terminology!! you can go over flashcards when you’re commuting, eating breakfast, or before bed for example, and it shouldn’t take much longer than 10min of your day (i use quizlet, but have also heard great things about anki and am thinking of switching to it before bar prep, but i digress)
3. my note taking / annotating for class is 100% digital, and i highlight passages i consider important as well as write notes on the margins that usually contain reflections about the case or other notes for myself later (eg: what defensive strategies would work for a criminal law case study). i also bookmark specific pages i may want to revisit, and often summarize cases by making a mind map (i usually do this by hand, in a small notebook that always stays close to me for brainstorming / quick notes)
i think i covered everything? i’ve been on break for a hot minute so i might have missed something, but i’ll edit and reblog this post again if i remember anything else once the semester starts and i’m neck deep in readings again. best of luck with your studies and let me know if i can help you with anything else!

for the ask game~ 12, 14, 18, 22, 23, 26, 33, 36, 40, 50. any, some, or all, whatever you feel up to! (fmfkdi it was gonna be just five but there's so many good questions)
Ohhh thank you!!
12. Have you ever written a fic and decided never to publish it? Why? A bunch honestly. Some are just not polished enough, some are too self-indulgent to share. The most notable example is the one time I did Nanowrimo, hit the 50k no problem but never managed to tie it all together into a coherent story. To this day, the fic sits as a bunch of connected scenes somewhere in my documents and at this point I doubt it'll ever see the light of day, lol.
14. What’s the biggest change in your taste between when you started in fandom and today? When I started out I was all about romantic shipping, now not so much. The rest has stayed much the same.
18. What’s your most underrated fic? Hmm I really can't complain about the vast majority of my fics so I'm gonna have to name the IDOLiSH7 fic I wrote on a whim last year because for some reason it sits at zero comments on AO3 (and one review on FFN from a lovely, loyal reader who doesn't even know the fandom) even though it has almost a thousand hits, a decent number of kudos, some bookmarks, so I could never really work out why it didn't have any comments at all, lol. I think it's a pretty good fic, too! (I don't have strong feelings about this tho since I don't usually write for or otherwise interact with that fandom, so it's all good).
22. Has there ever been anyone who’s made you freak out because they read your work and followed/favorited/reviewed? Not in terms of popularity of someone because luckily the fandoms I was/am active in don't have "big name fans" and if they do, I'm not crossing paths with them. And even if that were the case, those are just normal fans of the same thing I'm a fan of, so I wouldn't be happier about interaction from them than from any other person.
23. What’s the nicest review you’ve ever gotten? I've had sooo many lovely reviews and comments, I don't think it would be fair to pick a specific one for its content alone. However, I was in a multifandom zine a few times, and during the first run of that zine, someone who was also in it made it their mission to comment on every. single. one of the works featured in the zine. They left a beautiful, long comment on the Fleurentia fic I wrote for that zine and they didn't even have any knowledge of the fandom! So that one just has to win because of the circumstances surrounding it, lol..
26. What aspect of your writing do you most enjoy to see praised? Every time someone tells me they like my characterization, I start fucking vibrating. That's one of the best things someone could tell me.
33. Is there any particular character whose scenes always wind up being longer/more frequent than you expected? Does the quality hold up? Noct, I think. He's the one who gave me the most trouble of the four at first, but somehow I kept slipping into his pov way more often than intended. I feel more comfortable with him by now, but when I end up writing from his pov, that's still something that just kinda happened more often than not. As for quality, I think it holds up alright.
36. Have you ever sincerely written a ship you do not support into a fic? Not really, the most I've done is writing a ship I have no interest in. I wrote a Haru & Makoto soulmate AU for a Free! Iwatobi Swim Club gift exchange. My giftee asked for an aro/ace character, though, and so I got to write that sweet, sweet queerplatonic propaganda. Also, that pesky Promnis ship that keeps sneaking into my stuff in ways that could or could not be shippy – but again, definitely wouldn't say I don't support the ship. It's a very good ship!
40. Do you feel like you put out enough content? I don't think that's something you can (or should!) measure, but I can say that I'm happy with my output in recent years compared to when I had just started writing fics. Writing in general comes easier to me and it no longer feels like pulling teeth to come up with something to write. I would, however, like to write more often/more consistently.
50. Has writing fanfic had a significant impact on your life? Would you say it’s entirely positive? I'd definitely say so, yeah. It gives me the opportunity to explore and learn things about myself through the lens of my beloved characters and I've certainly figured out some stuff I might not have figured out without that. So far, yeah that impact has been positive and I haven't had any negative experiences.
Thank you so much for sending these and letting me ramble! I don't know why every single one of these turned into a fucking novel – I have to agree, they're very good questions!

For the Bookworm ask game! 15, 17 or 18, and 31
Hello!
15. Which genre(s) are your favorite?
Fantasy and fantasy adjacent. I absolutely adore Tolkien. I have enjoyed a lot Licia Troisi's "le cronache del mondo emerso", I have a really soft spot for anything Neil Gaiman, I am struggling a bit with Robin Hobb, although I am kind of enjoying her works. When I was younger I enjoyed reading a lot from Roal Dahl. I absolutely adore Stefano Benni.
I am also enjoying a lot @thebibliosphere 's "Hunger Pangs", though I bough the fluff edition as a personal preference.
I want to start reading also @xiranjayzhao 's "Iron Widow", which I am planning to buy as soon as I have some money (I am currently very poor and barely managing to the end of the month, but this one is in my list).
Weirdly enough I really do not like any of Terry Pratchett's books and I know this is the equivalent of swinging a bat against a nest of wasps. Pratchett was an amazing man, he did amazing things, but I really do not like or enjoy the way he writes.
For me to find a book enjoyable I must vibe and like the way a writer writes and Pratchett has never been my cup of tea.
I have read "The Golden Compass" and "The Chronicles of Narnia", which I enjoyed, but I need to read them again because I read them ages ago.
Anyway. Fantasy. All of the fantasy books. And I am always SO MUCH pissed off that a lot of these books are in the CHILDRENS section.
Like, seriously. Just because a book is fantasy, it DOES NOT mean it's for children. Just because a book does not contain sex scenes it DOES NOT mean it's for children. Welcome to my ted talk.
17. Favorite finished book series.
Uuuhhh if I said "The lord of the rings" I would be cheating, SO I am NOT going with that. I am going instead with the entirety of Georges Simenon's "Commissaire Maigret" tales (crime/investigation is my second favourite genre). Maigret has something that neither Agatha Christie, nor Arthur Conan Doyle, nor any other writers of the genre has. I love Maigret. I love how he incorporates a lot of personal details, I love the way he solves the cases and relates to both victims and perpetrators alike. I love his whole team of inspectors. Columbo did not invent anything, Maigret was there first. Another thing I will be probably cancelled for lol. Die mad haters.
I am also going for "The Witcher" by Andrej Sapkowski. I love that series to bits, one day I will manage to actually buy ALL of the books and finish reading it (I am currently on book 2). I love the characters, I love the way they are developed, I love their flaws and honestly I ADORE the way Sapkowski writes and I will be striving to reach that level no matter how many years it will take me.
18. Favorite unfinished book series.
I do NOT do unfinished book series. I am sorry, I need a completed book or a completed series. I simply do not have the commitment it takes. It's one of the many reasons I stopped reading ASOIAF. George RR Martin will need to pull his head out of his ass and FINISH what he started QUICKLY. It's annoying. He has no fucking reason to not finish the books. I am annoyed. Equally, I will not read a series that is still in progress for the reason that I am NOT putting in my will stuff like "I hereby request that my heirs will come to my grave to read the rest of XYZ's series so my ghost can have peace". LISTEN, READING BERSERK LEFT A MARK, NOW MIURA IS DEAD AND THERE IS NO TELLING IF/WHEN HIS ASSISTANTS WILL RESUME WITH THE STORY. I WILL NOT REPEAT THE EXPERIENCE.
31. Do you mostly read through e-reader; reading app on phone; on your laptop; a physical copy; or by audiobook?
I need to have a physical copy. I can't read for long through a screen. And also I like having a book in my hands. I like its smell and I like putting all sorts of nice bookmarks. I am now discovering audiobooks, though, especially now that my mind is struggling to stay focused for a long time. I can listen to an audiobook and do stuff at the same time and it's great. It's awesome. Especially if the narrator does their things with acting out all of the dialogue and you can HEAR different characters speaking and you are aware that it is the same narrator, but you actually heart a MULTITUDE of characters literally brought to life. It's amazing.
