During Tennant's speech at the 2025 BAFTA film awards ceremony, he ironically paraphrased the name of the dating app “Tinder” as “Putinder”.

The film “Anora” tells the story of a stripper and the son of a russian oligarch. The film, directed, written and produced by Sean Baker, won the award in the category “Best Original Screenplay”. It was also nominated for an Oscar.
