yk when i remember these two went on a date i want to squeal

like, kiryu went to an actual romantic date. a romantic date with a woman that was out of his comfort zone and maybe thought wasn't his type before ultimately falling head over heels for her. i don't think it'd be exaggerating by saying that kaoru was bringing kiryu out of his shell by staying with him

yumi was safe and the easiest choice because of their shared background but she's gone. and then kaoru, someone outside of his perfect little world, with an upbringing diametrically opposite that's meant to challenge his, is the one that wormed her way into his heart.

for as much as i enjoy k2 and thought they were the cutest i cant lie, i would've loved to see a mini arc of kiryu coming to terms with the fact that he had growing feelings for her and that he's clearly a person that wants to love and feel love again

their love story is essentially watching two fundamentally different broken people heal together and that's why it makes me bawl my eyes out
