the way I interpreted hw2 is — following the thought initially put forward by ruin that princess quest is the canon ending of sb, hw2 takes place concurrently with ruin ( if slightly before by like, the ending of hw2 and the beginning of ruin overlap ) where gregory is the protagonist and the gameplay is him and vanessa trying to put an end to glitchtrap for good who in turn sets the mimic free as one final fuck you ( and likely the hope that the mimic would .... y'know, mimic afton and thus continue to carry on his eternal existence of fear and misery )

The way Sun and Moon have experienced so much hurt and so much horror but in a way they may never be able to fully address because they just may not quite have the full understanding or the drive to unpack all of what’s happened to them in any sort of context beyond just seeing it as another part of their lives as silly jesters performing at the whims of other people as a small fragment of a dying franchise. That denial and where that understanding escapes them makes it even more tricky for them to heal because they can’t even begin to come to terms with the way the virus and their repurposing has affected them both, but the horrors keep on coming and they’re slowly unraveling and they know - they’ve known from the start - that something is wrong, and yet they can’t quite figure out what for the longest time.
Tumblr media
When the virus hits, they just carry on as normal because that’s all they’ve ever known. They notice the other one is acting differently and it alarms them but they aren’t listened to. Perhaps they don’t openly voice their concerns, or maybe no one is there to hear them. Perhaps they don’t even stumble upon the answer until a long time has passed, sitting in denial, just blocking out the changes and the concerns, and the other one whose existence has now thrown their lives into turmoil.
Sun carries on like everything’s fine and dandy - that is, until he can’t anymore. What a life. Always on. Always acting. He’s a good actor, sure, but when you’re meant to play one half of a day-night cycle I bet it wears at you when you now have to cover both shifts. The fact that he’s even trying to - he’s desperate not to be pulled back into the abyss so Moon can come out because he knows how broken Moon is right now. And I’m guessing that even if he did have a clue how to fix them (which, maybe he honestly didn’t, or simply wouldn’t come to terms with until he saw the faz-wrench in Cassie’s hand in Ruin), he couldn’t leave the daycare at most hours because he’d be at work, entertaining the kids, or not supposed to be out if the daycare was out of order. And then when the pizzaplex was closed, there were the blackouts all over, keeping him locked in where the generators were, where he’d have a chance to retreat into the light (and we can’t forget how useful Moon was to Afton and co as a retrieval bot, so he’d be out and about of course, they’d make sure of that, but not as himself).
The alternative would have been knowingly risking unleashing Moon upon more potentially innocent victims, and getting both of them in even more trouble when he should have been out. He should have been making sure things stayed working at least a little bit. And we see Sun fighting Moon with everything he has in the Ruin jumpscares just so they won’t do something they’ll regret. How long has he been fighting? How many times might he have tried and failed to stop Moon and woken up with blood on his hands?
How exhausting that must have been. Did he blame Moon at all? Any animosity between them could only have hurt more. And even if he didn’t give in to that frustration, the fact is, he was keeping Moon away that whole time, not letting him out to play. For his own good or not, that can’t have felt nice, and it certainly can’t have been easy.
And then Moon on the other hand expresses little clear awareness that something is wrong in Security Breach itself, at least none that’s addressed to Gregory or any of the others, simply going about his business, but it’s heavily implied he knows - and maybe he always knew - that there is something pulling from beneath the surface from the things he says in Ruin. “It won’t work!” He knows at that point at least that Sun (or perhaps Cassie) has a plan, of sorts. But he denies it. He doesn’t trust in that plan to fix them. He knows Sun is there, fighting to come out the moment the lights come on. He’s determined not to stay locked away anymore.
Imagine that frustration too. He wants Sun gone - he has to - because he’s in pain as long as the lights are on. And we can tell from Sun’s sad little song that he feels every bit of emptiness when he’s not active as well. And yet, being active feels like a desperate struggle on both sides as well. They’re in a constant battle with themselves, and there can be no victor.
Now imagine if Moon’s awareness - or his relative resignation at the state of the virus - had extended way back to the main game, when they first became afflicted by it. Knowing there was nothing he or Sun could do to stop it - because he (because they?) tried, and failed? Or just (optionally, if we’re considering the novels) because he was always the “villainous” appendix FazCorp couldn’t cut out of the otherwise comparatively “functional” working daycare attendant? Because then maybe Moon knew all along that there wasn’t a version of events where he was actually supposed to be here anymore.
(When he was infected by the virus, on the other hand? Moon had a purpose. Not a nice one, exactly, but a purpose nonetheless. Something Sun still had in the daycare that he wasn’t allowed. It’s not surprising that they ended up at odds with each other at all no matter how you look at it.)

What if it was Roxanne?
Alright, alright, this one is a hell of a stretch since there’s little evidence that really supports this, but this thought hasn’t left my mind since I first found out about Bonnie’s appearance in Ruin and I just need to get it out there.
what if it was Roxanne that killed Bonnie? while she doesn't have the same claws as Monty would have (which again he did not get until after Bonnie was killed) she does still have them, as does Freddy. Her claws are also green, which might explain the plastic rub/paint that is across his chest. Not to mention in a lot of Roxy's animations, she uses her claws for a ton of things. The only time monty really does is when he's destroying the gator guns. Otherwise he's just punching shit. AND the fact that Roxanne’s green claws are the only ones to have survived up until ruin - not even Freddy’s did. Gotta be pretty durable considering how hard she’s been trying to look for Gregory.
Roxy Raceway is also RIGHT NEXT to Bonnie Bowl, albeit below. That probably doesn't matter much given that they'd all be in Rockstar Row anyway, but afaik after Bonnie went missing, the rest of the glamrock crew weren't allowed to leave their green rooms. I don't remember where this is mentioned in game but i want to say it's a line of dialogue freddy has.
Roxanne's an integral part of the security system being that she is the only one with a secrutiy node built into her system where all of the others don't appear to (assuming their deaths didn't deactivate their portions of the security stuff). Not to mention her eyes are very specifically designed to see things that other people can't, though the description discussing her upgrades also mention that it was just to help her win races (??? sounds like bullshit to me but okay)
Now I haven't been able to find what bowling ball model was used for the broken one around Bonnie's head, but Roxanne's are usually either red with purple swirls or solid purple. Monty's are either solid green, or green and purple swirls. And there's the giant roxanne bowling ball that's crushed much of the bowling alley in the lanes itself when you have the vanni mask on.
WHAT IF. Bonnie, being a prototype (as is implied in the description of one of his plushy collectibles), had been hacked by the Mimic, who learned, through afton, to associate itself with rabbits. Roxanne saw something was up, confronted him, they fight, and Roxanne takes him out. It's obvious she's not afraid to throw hands against other bots, and that leap of hers could have easily knocked Bonnie into the wall, causing that impact mark in front of him as she clawed into him. The only thing that really doesn't explain is why he died facing the wall on his back, Unless he was attempting to scoot back when Roxanne took the bowling ball and crushed his head with it.
Again, there really isn’t anything more that supports this theory than this that I know of, so I know this is a huge stretch, but I feel like, given the amount of things not adding up with Monty being the one to kill him (ESPECIALLY if it was merely out of jealousy and nothing more), I feel like Roxanne being the one to have killed him to protect the others is a more solid motive. If there was something wrong with Bonnie, she’d be the first to know and likely the first to act on it.

(BIG SPOILERS FOR RUIN DLC. IT'S OUT NOW GO WATCH/PLAY IT)
Anyway I'm gonna thought-dump about my thoughts and speculation the dlc gave me with various confusing details.
- The sword sticking out of the princess quest game. That implies Cassidy was released and is out there somewhere.
- The continuous mentioning of Cassie's father. When Cassie comments on him having a fazwrench, the Bonnie lunch box being labeled as her dad's favorite, the Chica lunch box being labeled as something her dad is collecting. This mostly has my interest because, how do Cassidy and Gregory know each other? Everyone presumed it's cause they're from the same orphan home since Greg is homeless, but this disproves that.
- Also Cassie's dad having a fazwrench and Bonnie being his favorite is an Elizabeth parallel for Cassie.
- The continuous split parallels with Cassie towards Charlie, Cassidy, AND Vanessa. And a little bit of Elizabeth too. Who is she? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?! This only just made me realize how Vanessa parallels both Elizabeth and Cassidy (Princess Quest and the mask)
- Roxy is hunting Gregory, and Gregory only. She's nice to Cassie. This implies the same with the others. Gregory is their focus. They want to kill him. Why?
- THE WHOLE FUCKING BETRAYAL AT THE END, but especially the quote "we can't have it tracking us". If Greg was referring to him and Cassie, he wouldn't have dropped her. That means he's referring to someone else with him.
- Freddy?? Where's your head man. Why you evil now. What's with the stomach mouth paralleling Nightmare Fredbear. You were the only good dad of the franchise why you do that : (
- But also doesn't that mean the Princess Quest ending is the canon one? Since Freddy doesn't have his head.
- I seriously doubt that's all we're seeing of Eclipse. He's such a cool character give me more than 7 second screentime.
- The Vanny mask. Everything about the Vanny mask. I don't even have the time OR mental capacity to go over that. How? Why? Where? When? What???
- The Fredbear ending. What does it mean? Is it an illusion? Cassie just runs towards a cardboard cutout and supposedly reaches the "good ending." And Vanessa being in the background. Does that mean Cassie also knows Vanessa? Weird. But also lets keep in note how Van is in that ending but Freddy's head isn't.
- sssc. Sccoopp?? Scoping???? Sceep ending??!?@?$? Dnenfnrnnenfndn. Whyyywh?!?!??!? WHAT
- I feel like deactivating the haunted wet floor bots has to lead to an ending. The children voices, the fact they exist at all. Feels too important.
- Roxy still lived after the deactivation?? What does that mean? Did it not work? That has to mean something.
- If Mimic Greg is against the weird bunny guy in the Vanny mask, does that mean bunny guy could be an ally?
- Candy Cadet story.
I'll update this as more thoughts come to me. Tell me yours.

This implies that for 1, they aren't that popular. Its the only shirt thats left. Unsold. Forgotten.
And yk how theres a comedy mask for them? Where's the tragedy mask? There's none. The comedy mask is a perfect model of their face, so wouldn't that make THEM the tragedy mask? Wouldn't that imply when they swap they go from comedy to tragedy? They are made for theater afterall.
Sun seems so unhinged when he meets gregory, almost like he hasn't seen a child in a long. Long. Long time. Which makes sense, they have dents, they don't seem clean, they have paint that has scraped off. They haven't been taken care of.
Eclipse says "warning, warning! A child is in danger. Safety mode active." Sun never did that when gregory was in trouble, if just that simple reset made them function again, and staff was to lazy for THAT? They clearly aren't the "money makers" fazbears wanted. Therefore, uncared for.
They have a staff bot in their "room", and they're made for theater, acting, allat. Do they act with the broken bot? Do they play with it like a toy?
Why would you "need to be whole" with someone platonically? Is eclipse the manifestation of them being whole, obviously, yes, but i mean like. Is eclipse just.. the embodiment of their love? (Non platonic)

I haven't seen anyone else talking about this yet, so I'm sharing a little lore bit I found on a wall outside the Glamrock Salon during my last Ruin livestream. I was doing a Bonnie% run (basically the wet floor bot glitch forced me to restart the game from scratch and speedwalk my way through deactivating all the bots in one go askjdnbajkf) and when I got to the end of the Salon section of the game, I happened to look up with the Vanny mask on and found this on the wall by the bathrooms, right before you loop through the Salon again to get into the Foxy flume ride:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Gone for a while. Money for food on counter. Emergency contacts on fridge."
Now, this is a level that is very Cassie-focused from the get-go. We already know Roxy is Cassie's favorite, and as the level progresses we are treated to peeks into Cassie's backstory prior to the events of the game. We see her getting her makeup done with Roxy, we see the sad aftermath of her failed birthday, we see Gregory comforting her afterward, and we then see the Missing posters with Gregory's face on them. So we can only assume this sticky note is also specifically related to Cassie's story.
We don't know much about Cassie's dad, but the game does go out of its way to mention him on multiple occasions. We know he is/was an employee at the Pizzaplex. We know he was a technician of some kind. He has a Fazwrench, he "never told Cassie what happened to Bonnie" (implying he would have known that insider information), and we also see mention of Cassie enjoying the Foxy flume ride despite the fact that it closed before it was ever open to the public.
(Granted, that last one is up for debate, because half of it was a flavor text at the bottom of the pause menu, which isn't always reliable as Cassie voice. I also can't really see someone allowing a child to be a ride tester when said ride was later closed before its open due to "safety concerns"...but then again, this is Fazbear Entertainment.)
We know Bonnie is her dad's favorite, and we know he collected the lunchboxes from the old show, meaning he's been a Fazbear fan for years.
(I also love the theory implying that Cassie's dad could be one of Michael Afton's old friends we see in the FNaF 4 crying child cutscenes, because he has the same hair, skin tone, and shirt color as Cassie and is wearing a Bonnie mask to boot...but that's not a theory for this post.)
But the one thing I always wondered was, if Cassie does have a dad back home who cares about her, then why wouldn't she ask for his help in saving Gregory? Or at the very least, why would he have just let her sneak off by herself in the middle of the day when she can't be more then 10-12 year old at best? And then I found this note...
"Gone for a while. Money for food on counter. Emergency contacts on fridge."
I think Dad isn't home right now. I think he's been gone "for a while" and Cassie has been alone. It's possible that this mystery, where he's gone, is attached to the Pizzaplex too, or at least Fazbear Ent., because this franchise never has disconnected characters be mentioned in passing so pointedly like this without it being secretly significant. Though there's not much of a foundation to build a theory on for that one just yet.
But the note and its implications ALSO echo the story that Candy Cadet tells us in the basement of the 'Plex. A single parent and their child live together in their home while a monster is locked away in a basement. The parent leaves the kid home, the monster lures said kid to the basement by mimicking a familiar voice, and then the kid unlocks the door and sets it free. It's not 1-for-1 because obviously it's not Cassie's dad that the monster at the Pizzaplex chose to mimic, but it's a definite parallel that can't be ignored.
I can't help but wonder where Steel Wool plans to go with this in the next installment, since the cliffhanger they left us on can only mean that the story isn't over yet. It's like they say...it always comes back.
[Reblog edit with additional theorizing about Cassie’s dad can be found HERE]

Do you have any new headcanons on Sun's and Moon's relationship now that Ruin came out? Sun sounds so shaken up and sad while he sings, he's so disturbed about the AR world yet he keeps their room tidy, while Moon repeatedly says "No more Sun!" and struggles to lock him in this "nap". Moon is fully aware of the torment that Sun is going through and he feels no remorse about it because having control over their body is his priority. It just seems like they don't get along.
My theory would answer this too!
But shortly, I see the "Moon" we seen in the game as the virus, which is in charge of Moon's coding in both of the games.
The 'real' Moon doesn't hate Sun, and Sun doesn't hate the real Moon. Sun wants to share his body with Moon. He wants them to be whole again, by rebooting them to Eclipse mode. He doesn't want to kick Moon out of the body.
Because they worked together in one body before, I believe both of them want to do it again.
If we take the books as close to canon, Sun and Moon used to be avtheatre bot. They were content on changing who's in charge of the body when playing on the stage. The story would not be good of there was no "bad guy" on the stage once in a while and vice versa.
Eclipse mode is not "Sun". It's both of them in a SAFE MODE, which means without the virus, they're happy to work together and share a body :>
(SAFE MODE means a computer is rebooted to its basic state with a strong firewall - it blocks some of the normal functions but it also makes the computer temporarily free from viruses. This is why Freddy was so friendly in the first game while other glamrocks tried to kill Gregory - Freddy was in a safe mode, so the virus was blocked from his system)
But IMO I just imagine Sun and Moon finally reuniting in Eclipse and they're so happy to be together after being separated by the virus.
So, if more than anything, I see Sun and Moon's relationship to be actually even closer than what Security Breach ever implied. They're literally meant to be together and that's also what they want.

Eclipse Theories
(strap in this is gonna be LONG. I'm so hyperfixatied right now.)
Theory 1: Eclipse isn't a third AI, they are Sun and Moon combined into one AI.
Edit: Youtooz basically just confirmed this!
Tumblr media
This theory has quite a lot of evidence that I will go through in this post, but I must get something out of the way first.
I've never watched The Sun and Moon Show, but to my knowledge, SAMS Eclipse IS a third AI separate from Sun and Moon. So I'm guessing that's where the misconception about Ruin Eclipse comes from, since that series is quite popular.
But there have been SOME fans (not all SAMS fans, but some. no hate to the nice fans or creators.) that are spreading around misinformation about Ruin so I'll just say this.
The Sun and Moon Show is fan-made. It is not canon to the actual FNAF storyline. Therefore, it shouldn't be brought up as evidence when discussing theories about canon DCA lore. It is also rude to complain to Steel Wool when their lore doesn't match up to a FAN-MADE story.
With that out of the way, onto the theory!
1. Eclipse's Name
Tumblr media
defintion of eclipse: an obscuring of the light from one celestial body by the passage of another between it and the observer or between it and its source of illumination.
An Eclipse is when the Sun goes infront of the Moon, obscuring it (or vice versa).
But in most media, an Eclipse is a mixture of the Sun and Moon. So by naming this character ECLIPSE, its pretty clear that Steel Wool is trying to tell us that they are a mixture of Sun and Moon.
Think about it, if they wanted Eclipse to just be a third AI separate from Sun and Moon, why on Earth would they name them ECLIPSE? There are plenty of other space-related names they could've gone with! (Star, Cosmo, Nova, a roman planet name, a greek god related to space name, a constellation name, etc.) It'd be silly to name them Eclipse if they weren't an Eclipse!
2. "Reboot! Reboot! We need to be whole."
Listen I don't know how else to put this, but I think this line pretty much confirms this theory. He doesn't tell us to get rid of Moon, he doesn't tell us to remove any sort of virus, he doesn't just say "Reboot us!" and leave it at that. Sun specifically tells us that rebooting him will make them 'whole' again. He even says 'WE'. As in, him AND Moon. And he confirms that being whole is a good thing because otherwise he wouldn't have asked us! He even says they 'NEED' it.
I know Sun has a habit of speaking in riddles, but there are THOUSANDS of other ways he could've worded that if SteelWool intended Eclipse to be a third AI.
Like. C'mon. What more do you want from me?? I'm going full English teacher on this single sentence!
3. Personality
Tumblr media
Okay now let's go full PYSCHO-ANALYSIS mode on them! May be a little hard since Eclipse only has one scene of screentime but I can make it work!
So, Moon's personality is very aggressive. He was 100% okay with killing Cassie and Gregory, was implied to dissemble staff bots and glamrock endos, and is very intimidating and creepy. (Plus, has succeeded in killing at least two kids if you count the books.)
Moon cares more about rules then he does people. He's so determined to make kids sleep at naptime that he attempts to KILL them, without any thought of their life.
(Sorry for all the Moon slander. He is a silly billy I know but I'm trying to make a point here, it's necessary I promise.)
Tumblr media
The only time we see Moon acting friendly is in merch and posters. But this was confirmed in the Security Breach Files to just be a cover up by Pizzaplex publicity department to make Moon seem less creepy.
Edit: This note from the FNAF Cookbook also confirms this:
Tumblr media
The one trait Moon DOES share with his fabricated merch personality, is calmness. Moon is aggressive and creepy, sure, but he's not loud or panicked like Sun is. He chases us very slowly and carefully instead of charging at us, he waves at us in the elevator and after knocking out Freddy, and his voicelines are menacing but in a quiet way, yknow? Idk how else to describe it.
He IS a lot louder and panicked in Ruin, but that's probably because of the bad state he's in and the fact he doesn't want the lights on. Hes angry, but not in the way Monty or Roxy are in the first game. SteelWool still makes it clear to point out this personality trait.
Tumblr media
Now onto Sun!
Sun cares about people and isn't violent. It's clear he doesn't want to see people hurt. This is seen when he invites Gregory to arts and crafts, warns him about the lights, warns Cassie when it isn't safe and thanks her for her help.
But although Sun has good intentions, the situation he's in makes it hard for him to really be comforting to people. It's been reported on several occasions that kids are just as scared of Sun than they are Moon. This is probably due to his paranoia. He's constantly afriad of Moon coming out and hurting someone, and is desperate to keep the lights on. He's going...a small bit insane, but who can blame him! He's in a very stressful situation, and I feel very bad for him. Hes definitely TRYING to act the way Eclipse does but something is MISSING! Still, it is worth pointing out that the fandom tends to mischaractize him and take away some of his more eccentric traits. Traits that are essential to his personality and story.
He's also very energetic and loud. Overall, it seems he is missing the ability to CALM DOWN. Calm down?? You see what I'm getting at here??
Tumblr media
All this considered, do you see now why I think Eclipse's personality is a mixture of Sun and Moon. He is calm and cares about rules, but also cares about people. He was very comforting to Cassie without a hint of violence or anxiety. He even wished us a faz-errefic day!!
I don't think Sun and Moon are SUPPOSED to be apart, and that's why they act the way they do. In Eclipse, all their personality traits balance out. But when they are apart, there's nothing to balance it out. Moon is violent and only cares about rules, because SUN is the one that is friendly and cares about people. Sun is anxious and eccentric, because MOON is the one that is calm and collected.
Edit: This line from the FNAF Cookbook also implies this?? Specifically the phrasing of "everything moon isnt."
Tumblr media
Thats why Sun specifically ASKED us to make them whole again, because he understood that they needed to be together to have a stable personality!
Moon isn't dead or anything, his personality has just be incorporated into Eclipse. Y'know Steven Universe fusion? Y'know that one TPOH theory I made? It's like that.
Not to mention that this is literally the plot of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and the explanation of why Hyde is evil. DCA has been compared to this book twice, once in Tales of the Pizzaplex: Bobbiedots Conclusion, and again the FNAF Character Encyclopedia.
But, if Eclipse is obviously the safer and kinder option for a daycare attendant, why were they split apart into Sun and Moon in the first place?
Theory 2: When, How and Why was Eclipse split apart?
I'm not 100% confident in my theory about this yet, so I'll do this differently. Inside of saying my theory and THEN giving the evidence supporting it, I'll do it backwards. I'll lay out all the pieces of evidence first and make a theory after. This way, you'll understand where I'm coming from and it'll be easier for people to correct me if they find a better version of my theory.
Evidence:
Fazbear Entertainment must've wanted this to happen because rebooting them is very easy and there is merch of Sun and Moon around the Pizzaplex.
Eclipse must have worked in the Daycare at some point, because they talk about kids coming in and cleaning up in their dialogue.
Eclipse was most likely the original DCA because rebooting them restores them to factory settings, aka how they were first made, aka Eclipse.
Fazbear Entertainment must've had a reason not to reboot them after they realised Moon went wrong.
Vanny/Vanessa must've had something to do with this. There is purple glitches in the Eclipse Arcade machine, a drawing of a bunny in the daycare and graffiti of Vanny outside the Daycare.
They can't be effected by the same version of the Vanny Virus the Glamrocks are because that is implied to only take effect the night Gregory came to the Pizzaplex, and Moon has been evil a lot longer than that.
Tumblr media
Okay! To start off this story, Eclipse was the original daycare attendant. The way we see them in Ruin is just Ruined Sun and Moon, so I'm guessing they used to look like Arcade Eclipse. (Yeah I know they look creepy but let's be honest they all do.) Arcade Eclipse looks a lot more like an actual ECLIPSE and has the lore implications I mentioned.
Eclipse worked at the daycare and the kids weren't afriad of them because their personality was friendly and caring, just like the way we see them in their one scene.
(Or if you follow the book narrative. They worked in the theater and acted the PART of Sun and Moon, but weren't the real deal since obviously you couldn't have a real murder robot on stage. Offstage they were just Eclipse. That's why they already had the transformation mechanic, plus merch. When they were moved to the daycare, they could have met Cassie when it opened, or before it opened, since she was been established to get early access to stuff like the Foxy Logride. Since its implied Cassie went to the daycare before and talks about it positively. Which wouldnt make sense if she met Sun and Moon. But I don't know if the books are canon or not.)
Its revealed in SB that Vanessa got the job as security with no experience and with a recommendation. She's also the ONLY security guard. From this we can infer that she is somehow able to pull strings in Fazbear Entertainment to get things going in Vanny's evil plan.
With this information, I think it was HER that confirmed Fazbear Entertainment to re-theme the Daycare to Sun and Moon. They might have wanted to use Moon as a Naptime AND Security Bot. The switch to turn off the lights is in the Daycare SECURITY office, Moon patrols the Pizzaplex at the end of each hour like a security guard, and Vanessa never seems to question it during her patrols.
Vanny specifically split them so that Moon was evil. And when Fazbear Entertainment realises what happened, Vanessa convinced them to not go through the trouble of re-theming the Daycare again so they just added generators and told Sun to keep the lights on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The problem was that Sun still remembered being Eclipse. The drawing on the bottom seems to be of Eclipse. The one on the top has Moon's hat and different facial expressions for both of their face sides.
This also explains why the Eclipse Arcade Machine is in Sun's room, he probably stole it. Plus, in the AR version of Sun's room in Ruin, there's an image of Arcade Eclipse on the ceiling.
Thats why Sun told us to reboot him, because he knew they'd go back to being Eclipse.
So overall I think Eclipse is a happy ending for both Sun and Moon, and completes their mini character arc! That said, the amount of screentime they got was CRIMINAL and I hope we see more of them at some point.
(Edit: Updating this with more evidence!)
4. Design
Tumblr media
In scenes where Moon is in control of their body, his left eye glows red and the right one is black.
Tumblr media
In scenes where Sun is in control of their body, his right eye glows yellow and his left one is black.
The eyes are clearly meant to represent which personality is in control.
Tumblr media
When Eclipse is in control, their right eye glows yellow AND their left eye glows red. This represents that both Sun and Moon are in control of their body.
If Eclipse was a new person, then their eyes would glow a completely new colour to represent them being in control. Or they wouldn't glow at all, to represent neither Sun nor Moon being in control.
Eyes are the window to the soul, and eye colours are known to have a lot of significance in the FNAF lore, like with Circus Baby!
Tumblr media
In Ruin, Sun and Moon's arms don't glow at all. They barely have any colour because they are so broken and damaged.
Tumblr media
But Eclipse's right arm glows yellow (Sun's signature colour) and their left arms glows blue (Moon's signature colour). I also think this represents both Sun and Moon being in control.
If Eclipse was a new character, then their arms would glow a completely new colour, or not glow at all.
This feels almost MORE intentional than the eyes, because someone had to 3D model an entirely new glow effect for ONE scene.
If that isn't visual storytelling, I dunno what is.
Edit: I also noticed that in the cutscene when you reboot them, there is a moment where they seem to be shaking and struggling, before they stop and start talking as Eclipse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Its kind of hard to see since Sun's pupil are very bright but in this scene, both of their eyes are glowing, but they are looking around in different directions. This gives the impression of the eyes being mismatched and not yet working in unison, as eyes normally do.
Tumblr media
Then they go quiet, their head looks down for a second, springs back up, and we have Eclipse! Eclipse's eyes are both glowing and facing the same direction, and continue to work in unison even as they move around during the rest of the cutscene.
The fact that the animators took the time to add both of their eyes glowing as they were struggling, instead of just waiting for when their head leaned down (and their face went out of the camera shot) to change their eyes, means this was important.
I kind of see this as Sun and Moon's personality "recalibrating" with eachother as they rebooted. As in, it took awhile for their code to get used to the fact that they were now both controlling their body now. Their body convulsing in this moment as they became un-paralysed also suggests this. Plus you can see their arms start glowing.
Sort of like when you reboot a computer and it takes awhile for it took clear out all the bad data and start up again.
Edit: But! When I watched their cutscenes in slow motion, I notice that Eclipse still moves a bit out of sync even while they are talking and fully rebooted. Not the same way they did when they were split up, but enough to give the impression that this body is controlled by two people. And that they aren't completely used to it yet.
You could make the argument that I am overanalyzing these animations, but as an animator myself, I know how long it takes to complete and animation and these details being intentional is a lot more probable then you might think.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Eclipse says "Happy Birthday" he brings both his hands up to his chest in a friendly pose. But, if you slow the clip down, you see that Sun's arm clenches its fist awhile before Moon's arm does, while his arm is still off to the side and not at his chest. It's only after awhile do they actually hold hands, with Moon's arm grabbing onto Sun's. This gives the impression of them being slightly out of sync, but still trying their best to work together.
Tumblr media
This may just be because Sun's pupil is harder to see, but I also think their eyes look very vaguely out of sync in some parts if you slow it down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Eclipse even does Moon's signature wave with their Moon hand when they say goodbye to you. Showing that some of their characteristics still carried over after being merged together.
Also-also, the one peice of evidence that is flimsy in my theory is Sun's 'thank you' at the end of this sequence. Some people interpert this to mean that Sun is still conscious within Eclipse so therefore he has to be a third AI.
I think the fact that it takes a moment for Eclipses system to fully reboot could also explain this moment, but not disprove my theory.
The whole Eclipse talking scene takes up around 20 seconds. It's not crazy to believe that some of Sun's code may not be calibrated yet. Plus, it's implied that Eclipses losses some if not all of his memories when he reboots, so this could be what's left of Sun's individual code thanking Cassie for helping them, since they would forget to do so when they are fully rebooted. This is backed up by what I said about Eclipse still moving a little out of sync.
Or its meant in a more symbolic way. Since we don't SEE them say this, it gives it a ghost-like vibe. Like a final send-off for Sun's character, as we know it. Confirming that they are finally OK.
Or or Eclipse is able to subconsciously slightly split themselves apart again to allow their Sun half to talk to Cassie. (or maybe they can just use Sun's voice if they want to.) Reminder that partial eclipse's exist! That's something to think about!
Tumblr media
Either way, I don't think this scene necessarily deconfirms my theory on Eclipse. But it is very interesting.
5. Writing
Ok so this section will get into more meta stuff like the rules of storytelling and the future fnaf games. If you think that stuff is too subjective to be seen as evidence, then I see your point, but I want to add it anyway since its an element of theorising that is often overlooked.
(Feel free to just skip this part tho if you don't like it, since this theory already has decent enough evidence without it.)
So let's be honest, I think that Ruin was the end of DCA's story. Sure they had cameos in help wanted 2 but that all took place before Ruin and therefore didn't feature Eclipse. We have to remember that DCA is a side character, so even if they do get more cameos in later installments, I doubt it would be anything substantial. The writers dont have much reason to place all the spotlight on him. And from how little we see characters from older fnaf characters in modern games, I don't think the SB characters will be any different, unfortunately.
And from how it's treated narratively, I really think that them getting rebooted is supposed to be the end of DCA's character arc. And a happy one, at that.
And, if we assume this is true, then Eclipse being a third character makes absolutely ZERO sense. The entire storyline falls apart.
And, like I said before, they way people view DCA is often influenced by fanon AUs, headcanons, etc.
And in fanon, this isn't a problem! It doesn't matter that this is the end of DCAs story, because they could just write more fan story! They could explain everything about this new character, Eclipse, how Sun and Moon feel about him, what happens after that and after that. And that's fine, I'm not trying to be the fun police and say you can't do that.
But when you make the jump from "fanfiction" to "legitimate theory I think is canon" you need to keep in mind that SteelWool has...actual professional writers writing their story. So therefore you need to play by their rules if you want your theory to be solid. And the rules say that they don't have much time to develop DCA's story after this.
So, let's see how Eclipse being a third character wouldn't make sense for a proffesional writer to do, in the context that this is the last we will see of DCA, for the most part.
First of all
Tumblr media
WHO THE FUCK IS THIS GUY??? We've been following Sun and Moon this whole time and now you are just gonna drop this random third twink on us?? And then end the character arc and leave this new guy with exactly one scene of screentime??
I mean, he had a little build-up but not enough for him to stand on his own two feet as a full character! Where's he been all this time?? What's his job?? What do Sun and Moon think of him?? Why does rebooting them to factory settings trigger him to take control for some reason??
Eclipse being a combination of Sun and Moon fixes this problem. Because we already know who he is! Technically any Sun and Moon screentime we had at this point counts as Eclipse screentime, because we can guess how Eclipse would act by combining the two. And I think his lore involves just a little less 'making stuff up'.
Second of all,
What the hell happened to Sun and Moon?
No but seriously. Are they dead? Because that's the only explanation people are giving me!
People say stuff like "oh they were finally put to rest 😔" NO??
This whole narrative was about Sun and Moon fighting for control over their body, and how much pain that caused them. How is that suddenly a good thing when some other THIRD GUY takes control of their body instead? Don't they just get send to whatever subconscious purgatory they are in when they aren't in control? Sun is still paranoid mess, Moon still wants to murder people, and they both still hate eachother. Nothing has REALLY changed.
How is that a happy ending? Why on earth would Sun THANK us for that??
Again, my theory clears that up because now Sun and Moon are BOTH in control, and don't have to fight anymore.
Do you see now how Eclipse being a third AI destroys any type of closure and satisfaction the ending gave? Plus I think it's just makes everything CANONICALLY less interesting, in my opinion. And because of that I really don't think it's how Steelwool intended the ending to be interpretated.
Again, if you just like the idea of Eclipse being a third guy for fanon reasons, than thats fine. That's what AUs are all about! But if you spread misinformation about the CANON lore, then I just have to disagree.
Edit: Another thing!
When we turn the lights on, Sun doesn't take control of their body. Instead, they are paralysed and can't move at all. Helpy mentions that they are malfunctioning, and I think this means that whatever mechanism diverts control of the body between Sun and Moon is broken. This means, in the physical world, only Moon is able to take control of the body. And the AR World is just where Sun's consciousness ended up.
Tumblr media
If you look closely you can see their circuit board has multiple broken wires. These broken wires may have been what causes the control to divert, and they were damaged when the Pizzaplex went into ruin. This means that Sun is unable to take control of the body even if the lights are on, and the control is stuck on Moon and causes him to instead be paralysed since the system still recognises that Moon can't be in light, but can't solve the problem by giving Sun control.
With this established, it doesn't make sense for Eclipse to be a third AI that took control when they were rebooted, because the system that diverts control is broken. That system couldn't be fixed with the reboot either, since it's his actual PHYSICAL wires that are disconnected. Even if Eclipse became consciousness, there's no reason for him to be un-paralysed if he was a third AI that needs to take control away from Sun and Moon. Even if Eclipse was triggered by something other than light, if he is seperate from Sun and Moon, then the control system would still need to be used.
But if Eclipse was a fusion of Sun and Moon, then it wouldn't matter if the system was broken, because they wouldn't need to divert control to anyone! There's no one else inside their brain, it's just them now, and they are one person. Sun and Moon fusing together eliminates the paralysis because their code recognises Sun as being able to move in the light. And since Sun is already a part of Eclipse, there no need for the broken control system to be used. This allows Eclipse to be unaffected by light and can move away from the generator without anything happening. The reboot restores them to their factory settings, and those settings have no use for the control code because there is only one of them.

Vanessa doesn’t know exactly what she’s supposed to do now. Vanessa doesn’t know exactly what she’s supposed to do now.
It turns out there is no 12 step program for recovering from being manipulated and possessed by a child murderer who likes to dance around in a rabbit suit. Except it was her suit, she made it, she remembers making it, even if she can’t remember a lot of other things that she knows she should. She remembers cutting and sewing and becoming, and she remembers that she was proud of the craftsmanship. No. Step back. Separate. He was the one who gave her the design, and He was proud, that specter in the code that she gave the form He wanted.
She remembers listening. Mostly, always, listening.
Whispers through a keyhole. A door she unlocked.
Her computer is gone. Her security badges and hat and uniform, gone. Her job, her life, everything, gone. His voice is... His voice is, but it is also quieter than it has been in a long, long time. Vanessa finds she can’t prefer the silence it leaves. The radio of the van they stole has one broken dial, the one that controls the volume, and if she turns it on and fiddles with it quick enough, she can get the sound to a reasonable volume before the music blasts out. Sometimes, the volume dial jumps erratically, out of her control, and there will be a sharp note that makes her ears ring and makes Gregory jump. Usually, though, she can make it before it’s too late.
Vanessa is still here. She’s still alive, which is more than a lot of people can say.
Gregory’s alive, too. That’s more than a lot of children who meet her- No, separate, met Him, can say.
Vanessa’s never killed anyone. Vanessa’s killed children. Vanessa can’t remember anything. Vanessa can remember everything, but all it is is screaming whenever she tries to sleep.
Gregory’s alive, and that’s not because of her. There’s a head in their van. It talks. For once, Vanessa does not feel crazy when she talks back. Most of the time. She thinks she owes something to the bot, Freddy. Gregory can drive, and he knows how to hotwire a van, and how to connect an animatronic head to it to keep Freddy’s battery from running out. She’s not sure she wants to know how he learned all of that, but she definitely knows it means that he could ditch her, if he really wanted. She’s also pretty sure the bear convinced him not to. Probably some old protocol demanding that lost children get brought to the nearest adult that can help them find their parents.
Gregory doesn’t sleep unless she’s made it clear she’s going to as well, and not until he’s checked and double-checked Freddy’s battery and connection to the van. He sleeps with his Faz Camera clutched to his chest. Vanessa knows now from experience that being flashed with that thing can leave you half-blind for a good five minutes. She’s learned not to wake the kid up. At least, not from a distance where she’s still going to be blinking spots out of her eyes for an hour.
If she had it her way, she’d sleep a lot less than she does, but that would mean Gregory sleeping less, too. She’s got some sort of responsibility here. So, instead, she bites into her hand in the middle of the night to stay silent and ignores the whirring of robotic eyes as they focus on her. The first time, he’d tried to say something. She doesn’t really remember what. She ignored him, wiped her tears, and tried to go back to sleep. She hadn’t succeeded, but he also hadn’t tried to talk to her again when she did wake. He watches, though. Those robots were programmed to watch as much as they were to perform.
"Why did you help him?” she asks. She’s leaning against the open back door of the van, waiting for the tank to fill up. Gregory is inside the gas station. The security guard part of her feels like she should reprimand him when he inevitably comes back with things he didn’t pay for. The hungry part of her just wants some jerky. Freddy is currently under a sheet. She doesn’t particularly want some nosey gas station attendant walking past the van and seeing an animatronic head, not when the major property damage and theft Vanessa and her unnamed child accomplice/victim caused are still all over the news. She’s not sure if law enforcement has conclusively pinned the “disappearances” on her yet.
At least as long as Fazbear Entertainment is involved, they’re going to remain “disappearances”. Less dirt on the company name.
“I... do not know.” Freddy says after a long pause. His ears click and turn under the sheet, and Vanessa reaches over automatically to keep it from sliding off. “He is a child. It is against our programming to harm children. My friends were malfunctioning.” She winces, and she’s glad he can’t see it. That’s her fault. No, His fault. But her fault. For giving Him the chance. For unlocking the door. She chains it now, a thousand locks, but that just means more keyholes, more places where the whispers escape.
“If programming is all you have, you should have turned him over to me. You had a lot of chances.” She shoves her hands in her jacket pockets and digs her nails into her palms. Freddy whirs. She’s starting to recognize the different sounds his small movements make. That’s the sound of his eyes moving. It’s a small victory in her mind that he can’t see her.
"He did not trust you.”
“So, you decided to listen to a seven year old who you knew broke in.”
“It was the right choice, Vanessa.” Freddy says, and she knows he’s trying to stop her line of questioning. She doesn’t want to argue with him. It’s messed up that the closest thing she can consider a friend is a robotic head. She had coworkers, once. They were almost friends. Luis used to exchange emails with her, casual stuff, jokes... concern when she stopped emailing him back, and then silence. She wonders if he tried to get in contact with her again when he saw the news. She’s got no way to check.
“Had you seen him before?” Freddy’s ears quickly click backwards, and his voice comes out slightly offended.
“Fazbear Entertainment does not record, monitor, or store guest information using facial recognition software without consent.” Vanessa snorts.
“You know, most nights at that place were pretty quiet. I did a lot of weird stuff to pass the time. Including reading all the stuff guests had to sign to get in there.” The clause about recording had been in very small print. Vanessa had to take a picture of it with her phone and zoomed in the photo to read it properly.
“Fazbear Entertainment, on occasion, uses facial recognition to record, monitor, and store guest information.” Freddy concedes. He almost sounds embarrassed. “But I have no information about Gregory before I met him in my room. He did not have a guest profile.”
“That’s a no?”
“He did not have a guest profile.” Freddy repeats.
“And didn’t sign the waiver. Shit.” She glances over at the pump, then at the store connected to the gas station. She can’t see Gregory. She’s not worried about him. He’s survived a lot worse than shoplifting. “Legally, you’ve never seen him before.”
“Legally, I have no record of Gregory.”
“What about illegally?”
“Vanessa, I am not allowed to collect information on someone who did not sign the waiver.” She lifts the sheet just enough so that he can see the look she’s giving him. She’s been told she can be pretty intimidating. She hopes the dark bags under her eyes and her messily tied back hair help the effect rather than just making her look like a walking disaster. Not that that wouldn’t be accurate. Freddy blinks at her and then looks forward again.
“You know you're stolen property now, right?” Vanessa pushes. That is a bit of a sore point.
“After meeting Gregory, I went through the video footage I had access to. Without being able to connect to the main office, it was not much. A week.” He answers. “Gregory is in the footage. I believe if I had more memory storage, he would also be in that footage. He knew his way around the Pizzaplex very well.”
There was no record of Gregory in the system, ever. She asked him where his parents were, to return him to them. He didn’t answer. He didn’t blink hijacking a van, at leaving town, at stealing food. He hummed Freddy’s stage shows without missing a note when he was bored, all the way through. He wore a pair of shoes she knew were sold in the Pizzaplex gift shop.
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do,” she admits. “I don’t know how to take care of a kid.” Especially not one who doesn’t trust her, and who has every right to never trust her. She’s pretty sure that, if push comes to shove, if He ever gets so loud she can’t do anything but listen, Gregory won’t hesitate to push her under her own van.
(And then to lie to Freddy and say it was an accident. She had cameras all over the Pizzaplex to watch. She saw what Gregory did to the other animatronics, the ones who hunted and hurt him.
Freddy has, had, access to those same cameras. When Fazbear Entertainment designs something to watch, it watches.)
“I am very good with children. I can teach you!” Freddy says.
I am very good with children, someone whispers through a keyhole, a door she checks the locks of every day. I can teach you.
“You think that a healthy diet consists of pizza, fries, and milkshakes.” She says, louder than she intends.
“The menu of the Pizzaplex was looked over by multiple nutritionists!”
“Did any of them approve it?”
“...We also failed restaurant inspections less than 50% of the time?”
“I worked for that place, and I still don’t know how you avoided lawsuits.” Vanessa says as she tugs the pump from the van and puts it back. The machine accepted cash, which she has... enough of. Enough to last them a little while longer. They can wait for things to calm down and maybe then the kid and his robot buddy could hack something and get them new identities. She has no idea how hacking actually works. She thinks she did some, once. She did what she was told, and the computers listened like she listened.
“Gregory, you’re back!” Freddy says as she gets into the driver’s seat, and she glances into the back of the van. Gregory had scrambled inside, shutting the doors behind him. He sees Vanessa looking at him, and he tenses, tries to hide the stolen goods he was pulling out of his pockets. Vanessa bites the inside of her cheek.
“What’s the haul, kid?” she asks. Gregory just stares at her. She tries not to think about the fact that she didn’t eat breakfast today. “I’m not going to arrest you for shoplifting.” Gregory looks down at the items and then over at Freddy’s still covered head. There’s a slight yellow glow where his eyes are. He’s looking directly at Gregory.
“I paid for this.” Gregory lies. She raises an eyebrow.
“That’s the right thing to do, superstar.” Freddy says. “Shoplifting is illegal, Vanessa. Please do not encourage him to do crimes.”
“You,” she points at Freddy. The yellow glow flickers up in the direction of her finger. When Gregory tugs the sheet off a moment later, she sees that his gaze is exactly on her finger. Not one to be deterred, she continues, “Are Literally. Stolen. Property.” She turns back to the wheel. “He stuffed you in a duffel bag.”
“Yes, but-” Freddy stalls. Makes a clicking noise. “Well-” Click. “See-” Click. He finally gives a metallic sigh. It’s not a very pleasant sound. “Gregory, please do not steal anything that isn’t me.”
“I won’t,” Gregory promises. He’s lying again.
Vanessa starts the van. She fiddles with the radio, stops it from getting too loud. They should keep going. For how long, how far, she’s not sure. Maybe, if they get far enough, she could open that door in her head and see that there’s nothing behind it. (She doesn’t actually believe that. She has read the newspaper articles, the old speculation about restaurant after restaurant, child after child, and she knows better than anyone, He is the kind of curse that lingers.) Maybe they’ll at least get far enough away that she can get a real job. She doesn’t have any references now, but if that goddamn place gave her anything besides the nightmares, it gave her the experience she needs to work a night shift.
Something pokes her in the shoulder. She looks.
“Here,” Gregory says. She reaches back to take the beef jerky from him. He jumps back the moment she has it, before their hands can touch, and then he sits back on the floor next to Freddy. She can see him looking at his Faz Watch. The text that appears on it is too small for her to read, but at least she knows who he’s talking to. Freddy is the only thing connected to the watch. No one else. Gregory has nightmares too, but he doesn’t have Him and His words on a screen that know everything. Gregory just has Freddy, and Freddy might know more than he lets on, might watch and watch and watch, but Freddy will protect him as well as a head wired into a van battery can protect a child.
Vanessa is alive. She has a van. She has a goal, nebulous though it may be. There is a keyhole in a door in her head that she can hear the most horrible things through, but it’s locked still and will stay that way, as long as she can manage. She’s got a piece of beef jerky to eat for lunch, and maybe later, she’ll teach Gregory how to dine and dash, if he doesn’t already know. He probably does.
No one is telling her what she is supposed to do.
(She cannot choose whether to listen. She can choose whether to heed.)
She’s just going to have to write that program herself.
Step one...

I have. So many thoughts about Sun in help wanted 2. Not bad ones at all, just a lot thoughts. (Spoilers ahead for HW2 and a little from Ruin) also this is a long one, so buckle up
Aight, so I have not watched a lot of gameplay of the Arts and Crafts minigame, bc I would have simply been way too excited to even stand still and not get overwhelmed by pure joy. BUT I have listened to his voice lines in the game (via YouTube)
After listening to all of them, I got three main thoughts (and a bonus thought about Moon)
One, holy smokes he is a freaking savage (and even more of one once I discovered that apparently his line “It speaks to me!” Was actually NOT him complimenting you genuinely and he actually immediately shreds your work in front of you after saying that, and I’m dying of laughter here FHSGGFGDJDJG)
Two, I’m like, actually kinda happy that there’s this side to Sun? Like, it gives more nuance to his personality overall. And I think has been a part of him from the start, back in the main security breach game? We just haven’t been shown it much. Maybe not much of his sassiness, but I’m also thinking about his temper. Like, sun was really pissed at Gregory at the end of the daycare mission, to the point that he bans the poor kid. And there’s also that one cut voice line of his that goes “I’M PUTTING YOU IN TIME OUT!” And it’s in a really angry voice, unlike moon surprisingly, despite both of them sharing this one line. And then there’s also that one fazwatch about how moon practically traumatized kids enough that they’re scared to sleep with the lights off, but when the lights turn on, the kid straight up wets themself. Which implies that not only has Moon terrified kids, but so has Sun as well. And if we’re really supposed to be a kid in the arts and crafts minigame, then i think we found the context for that part of the message. I feel bad for that kid.
I’ve kinda kept in mind for a while that Sun is not always so patient and uh, kind. And I kinda like that since then it’s easier to write him In certain different situations. And this revelation from HW2 honestly validates the way I’ve written him in my own AU, and oh boy is this gonna fun!(no sarcasm) (I not gonna elaborate on that point bc it’s not the focus of this post, tho im happy to talk about my AU if anyone wants to know more)
Three: I genuinely wonder if we’re specifically playing as a kid, an adult (maybe a staff member) or, as I’ve heard from other people’s theories, we might be playing as a possessed staff bot?? I feel like the first idea might be likely since there’s a voice line from sun in the minigame, where he says that we (the player) are gonna be in timeout until our parents come to pick us up. However, I’ve only seen the beginning of the minigame, and only know the rest through listening to voice lines. So I don’t have much context for the voice line and I could very well be wrong.
Bonus thought: I’ve heard that Moon appears a lot in other mini games compared to other characters, including Sun. But despite that I really can’t get a good read on his personality besides either him being a silly yet unnerving boogie man (SB and HW2) , and literally in aggressive pain(Ruin) and probably a softie but we really haven’t seen him act that way, only just read/seen it second hand, like his moondrop posters and one description from Cassie in Ruin. Again it could be bc I haven’t seen much of the new game and only heard voice lines from one of his mini games, but I’m really not sure.
Aight that sums it all up. This game is really good.

Hi there, I'm been dying to ask this, can you do a Glamrock Freddy x Player?
I can try. Still not the best with self awares so I'll see what I can do ^^ Concept as not specified.
Yandere! Glamrock Freddy with Player! Darling
Short Concept
Pairing: Platonic/Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Manipulation of code, Heavily implied platonic relationship, Self-aware AU/AI, Really that's it he's pretty chill in this.
Tumblr media
- Freddy probably senses someone else around Gregory.
- You're the player guiding Gregory and Freddy naturally already wishes to protect Gregory.
- He may become curious by this presence he feels.
- It gets stronger the closer he is with Gregory, although he doesn't get any answers when asking the small child.
- Such odd behavior confuses the robotic bear.
- It would take some time before Freddy fully understands just what's going on.
- Even then it's a loose understanding.
- He already knew he was a robot but he had no idea he was in a game.
- He is also having trouble understanding that you and Gregory are one in the same.
- You're controlling Gregory and guiding him through the Pizzaplex, in a way Freddy is happy someone is watching over the kid.
- A Self-Aware Freddy would have more of a platonic relationship with you instead of romantic.
- He feels since he takes care of Gregory, in a way he's taking care of you.
- If he keeps Gregory safe, he's keeping you safe.
- Soon he's not taking care of Gregory for the sake of the child himself, he's taking care of him because that means he's protecting you.
- In a way, Gregory is just a host for you.
- Freddy begins to understand this and his interactions are strangely not towards Gregory, but instead you.
- He doesn't know your name yet although he is tempted to learn it through hacking.
- Freddy would probably be a self-aware who'd make the game easier for you instead of breaking the code to get out.
- He'd also splice voice lines to speak to you directly in game.
- He's tamer than most self-awares but still unnerving.
- He'd beg you to play the game often as every new game he remembers you still.
- You notice he barely runs out of battery and teleports to you at times when you're in trouble, even if he is not supposed to.
- You find it harder to die in game than stay alive due to Freddy's tampering.
- The spliced voice lines are the best he can get to interact with you.
- However, he manages, and hopes he doesn't freak you out too much with them.
- Even if he is limited to just the game he assures you he just wants you to have fun and play often.
- He loves to see you and wishes he could have a more heartfelt conversation out of the game.
- Alas... such wishes are only dreams.
- His self-aware type isn't malicious at all, he acts more like a helpful companion than a virus.
- Understanding just why this can happen is beyond you so you have to learn to just... accept it like most self-awares.
- He'd probably try to hide it at first but Freddy is bad at lying and hiding things.
- You'd find out he's sentient one way or another.
- Freddy does not seem much like a threat, he would not really kill or kidnap as he knows it would not last long.
- He would alter the code of the other bots to make your run better, though.
- He can't have them hurt you, even if they are his friends.
- Freddy may be jealous at times yet doesn't really act on it in this AU.
- Since he isn't the type to break game code he isn't one to kill-
- Overall, self-aware Freddy is still pretty sweet and just wants you happy.
- You'll visit him often, won't you?"

I’ve been seeing a lot of Gregory evil-posting lately, so I’m gonna spin things around and highlight his positives! I personally like Gregory’s character already, but I’ll be so happy when they finally address his GGY arc and the animatronics.
He doesn’t have to have huge amounts of lore or be related to previous characters for me to enjoy him, he’s just a funny silly lil kid with an attitude and sass who brings joy + hope to other characters’ lives (Freddy, Cassie, Vanessa) even if he’s deemed as a problem in the eyes of others, and the little things + the fandom’s hcs for him just add to his character. Ex: he’s a rascal who probably gets hurt on the daily, kind of implied by canon if the missing tooth and bandaids are anything to go by, but still. He’s an inspiring artist too which I feel is often forgotten by fanon. Also, he cuts his own hair, whether that’s out of necessity or emphasizing his independence, it’s still a fun detail!
He’s a troublemaker who is in fact trying his best <3 and him liking Freddy over “cooler” bots like Monty is still really special to me (I miss their bond sm) Overall, he has heart even if it’s not always shown. Steel Wool does a good job at making their characters unique, and Gregory’s no exception
I’m honestly excited to see where they take him, I just feel like Steel Wool would know not to villainize a child character in such a child-hating fandom, but also it serves no purpose to the story they’re trying to tell!
ur so right about everything here anon!! I love canon Gregory even in the most strict sense. hes already not MEANT to be painted as the villain, and has been shown to do more good than bad. I also trust steel wool like you said at the end to not do that to him. I feel like it just wouldnt make sense, and even if the executions are sometimes questionable they truly are good writers that make good decisions for their story
I also cant wait to see where they go with him. I'm just excited for steel wool to focus on him again!
(I also miss Gregory and freddys bond anon... you and I are in the same boat🤝)

RUIN THEORY TIME
Remember when you enter into the Staffbot Silo and there’s a lot of sticky notes…well this is gonna be about The Mimic.
So the sticky notes are everywhere in the silo and the what’s on it is a bunch of doodles of kids, pizza, a cake, presents and this
Tumblr media
From what’s going on, the person who’s writing these wants to have a family and be happy, that they want a party that’s all for them. One of the binary codes also shows that they’re having an existential crisis saying “why is I.”
The notes also shows they’re being childish, that they have a childish art style and it’s implying they’re just a kid that wants to have a family.
For the Mimic, since he is technically “Glitchtrap” how does this imply that he’s the one who wrote all of those notes, if it implies that he wants to be happy? Simple.
Mimic is just a part of Glitchtrap. But how? Well since his body looks like a mix of the daycare attendant endo head with a normal endoskeleton and some parts from pizza sim animatronics. He was just been made after the Pizzaplex already exists.
Vanny built Mimic for the purpose of making a physical body for Glitchtrap but it only able to transfer a part of him into the body and since Glitchtrap is similar to Mimic1, he mimicked Afton and if a part of him gets transferred, it resets to its original state. Before he mimicked Afton.
Because of that, Mimic has re-learn to be basically a bad person but from the notes, he wants to have a family. That’s where the Afton bot family comes in, Mimic has the memories of Afton but he only focuses on the family instead because he’s basically a kid.
He rather do what kids do than having to re-learn about the things that Afton did and the only time he ask to Vanny about what is he is just that binary code “why is I”
Tumblr media
why do I exist?
This is basically like the Gregbot/Charliebot theory that people talked about 1 year and a half ago (Jeez that’s long time) but just replace Greg/Charlie with Mimic.
I would also like to talk about the caution bots/Pat pats. I think ever since the Glamrock Bonnie incident, Mimic has been using the Pat pats to mimic and spy on people because he has to learn but all he mimicked is just children.
Now why do I think it’s after Bonnie “disappeared” because once you turn off all of the Pat pats, Bonnie’s eyes stopped glowing so it’s possible that Vanny has been using Bonnie’s power source for the Pat pats so Mimic could see through them.
That’s why when you play as Gregory, Pat pat kept following your every move and for Cassie, Mimic looked away because he doesn’t want to get suspicious (he still got suspicious cuz he turned around)
Now here’s the thing, why in the scooper route Mimic’s costume looks like Gregory (but worse) why he lured Cassie by using Gregory’s voice and why did he kept saying that he’s Gregory when Cassie ask what is he? Pretty simple.
He saw what Gregory got after PQ ending. A family and that’s what he wants. But Gregory got. That’s why he lured Cassie. That’s why the Roxy walkie talkie is still there and still on. It could’ve been taken by the teens who did graffiti but no, it’s there for Cassie. Mimic lured Cassie so she could be a part of his “found family”
Mimic wants to be Gregory. not kill him. Not lured Cassie to just get her killed but he wants her to be a part of a family.
In fact, in the beginning of SB, Freddy said that he got kicked out of the main system and Mimic is part of the system so when he saw Gregory gets discovered by Vanny/Vanessa through Pat pat, he kicked Freddy out of the system so Freddy can help Gregory through out the night.
And maybe, Mimic is the one who put all of the retro CDs AND copied Vanessa’s voice when it’s already 6 AM to keep Gregory inside the mall lil longer.
Maybe Mimic is hiding in the room where the cds played/Michael’s room since he has parts of Afton’s memories, that room must be like a resting spot for Mimic (for some reason, there’s spilled popcorn) and he could be waiting for Gregory there to get to know him better.
So it’s possible that the only reasons why Mimic wants to be Gregory is because Gregory is an orphan. He doesn’t have anyone to take care of him and Mimic saw the same thing in himself.
No solutions for me, just sadness. This theory is also helped by @chaosnightgal
Also art style comparison:
Tumblr media
This is Mimic’s art style
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is Vanny’s
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vanessa’s (yes she paints) and Michael’s
Tumblr media
And Gregory’s :D
Bonus:
There’s this lil note, I’m not sure what it says, it’s either Tim or Jim
Tumblr media
If it’s Jim then that would make sense about this

Note
Apologies if this is a well known connection especially because I’ve actually been recently catching up on Fnaf lore, but, I’m really curious to know if anyone has noticed the sorta eery similarities between the Disassemble Vanny Ending of Security Breach, and the way that it was implied that the therapists from the CDs died. I’m not sure if the Staff bots were even present at that point, but it’s really interesting to me, especially because Ruin seems to imply that Gregory made up that ending
That's a good point. Also, I'm actually not sure Gregory was technically the one making up endings ;)

Just gonna toss a bunch of theories out and see what sticks after seeing hw2
- candy cadet story is about Cassie and when she escapes she'll eventually come back to try and fight the mimic and die
- candy cadet story is about Cassie about what has already happened, meaning as a child she was scarred by something like the mimic and now she's heavily injured by it at the very least
- candy cadet story is about Cassie's dad who IS the bonnie mask bro and the scar was witnessing the inciting incident that lead to Charlie's death and then the MCI and then he died at the pizzplex (honestly this is entirely improbable but whatever. I wrote it down anyway)
- the story is about Michael Afton and the "witch" was his father and his experiments
- the story is about Charlie, who didn't "survive" the "witch" (afton) per se but did continue living enough to hunt him down, only to be trapped in an oven with him
- it's about Vanessa implying she's going to go back to the pizzplex and get captured, again. Or that this has already happened.
- it's about Gregory and actually he's not alive at all by the time ruin happens
Moving on from candy cadet
- the game is setting up the next Michael Afton, much like how Cassie may be a Charlie parallel (or a Cassidy one), where the mimic is now looking for a perfect rival for their mimicry
- actually the game is showing you possessing maskbot and giving the mask to Cassie (implying some connection between the two, perhaps father and daughter?)
- ACTUALLY the game is about killing glitchytrap for good for Vanessa to be free
- ACTUALLY the game is about killing glitchytrap because vanny was a servant of the mimic this whole time, and glitchtrap was a means to an end
- something about that whole thing with baby. Elizabeth and baby parallels but also possibly Elizabeth and Michael parallels
- why do these bots keep asking why I'm special. Are we special? As in possessed? As in a higher up? As in...?
- Does Jimmy Ever Get His Birthday Cake ????
- who is Jimmy
- who left all of these Jimmys lying around
- actually if Cassie is Charlie, Gregory could be Gabriel, Jimmy could be Jeremy. There u go, Jimmy. Happy birthday
- somebody pls get mystic hippo some tarot cards so she can do actual readings
- monty dead dead
Alright goodnight everyone
