so the explanation of how this au works is kind of 90% "whats an explanation that allows my idea to happen while also seeming plausible in terms of kh lores uhhhhhh. im going to call it "narrative flexability" (bending like a rubber ruler to let whatever nomura wants to happen make sense) so the idea is at the start of kh2 when roxas "returns" to sora it doesnt like. fully work? leaving roxas in a sort of frightening liminal space between life and death !! dfgbhgfrerfhg anyways. sora is the only one who can see him also (hence the last comic where he was asking if he was hallucinating).

this au is like. entirely self indulgent i dont think its particularly interesting with like. whats actually going on more with the relationships which was always the focus to me. so theres not really that much to explain with the plot? its mostly true to kh2 but roxas is there and its a lot less focused on the actual events. idk it is but a humble character drama to me because thats what i like to read and write! i am SO fucking serious when i say the xion or repliku concept could be cool as hell however,,,,,,,,,,,,,, someone else should go insane about those guys and write that

if you boil down alhaitham & kaveh's akademiya-era fallout fight, it was that alhaitham wanted to change kaveh & kaveh could never agree with his proposed course of action

but now, as full grown adults, alhaitham isnt trying to change kaveh anymore

that core conflict does reoccur, as it did during Parade of Providence when alhaitham lectured kaveh after Act II & kaveh got annoyed

(even though Alhaitham was obviously just worried about kaveh's health/wellbeing...)

this is a common pattern of behavior for them: alhaitham is worried about kaveh & kaveh reacts defensively to it

which speaks to how stubborn & hyper-independent kaveh is

despite being someone who's dedicated to giving back to the community and contributing towards the larger social good, he's quite determined on his own path in life

he'll bear the consequences (ie bankruptcy) all by himself if necessary...! and he's much too stubborn to be talked out of his own decisions

i dont think there was any possible way kaveh could have walked away from the wrecks of the first build of alcazarzaray and still be at peace with himself

and kaveh even admits he was naive (in his teapot dialogue), but he doesnt regret it still even now

so i think its cool alhaitham realised that there's no point in trying to convince kaveh to change who he is

such is kaveh. kaveh will not be someone different, not even for alhaitham. his work & altruism are parts of his core identity

why fight a mountain who will not be moved?

instead, alhaitham goes for more "harm reduction" strategies:

help cover kaveh's bar tabs, which means he's also the one lambad calls to pick up kaveh & see kaveh home safely

snark at kaveh when he's ranting about clients to keep him in a righteous mood instead of getting depressed

there's a quote about how to be loved is to be changed....

and alhaitham certainly has changed so much from that smart-mouthed student who had pinpointed what he thought was the root of kaveh's overbearing altruism and figured he could fix kaveh's problems with that knowledge!

to now as an adult with a lot more life experience: alhaitham knows that kaveh isn't his to save

and the more he tries to force kaveh to changing, the more likely kaveh is to dig his heels in

alhaitham doesnt need to be kaveh's minder or overbearing best friend--

he wants to be kaveh's partner, his equal, which means respecting kaveh's choices for what they are

anyways kaveh's drowner analogy works rly nicely for this core conflict between them (changing people vs supporting them and protecting them from harm)

& i cant believe its canon

i really appreciate this aspect of their relationship too-- it feels very mature & realistic...

how easy it would be if you could just TELL someone how to fix their problems!

its very frustrating to see someone you care about run straight towards problems again & again...

but you can't change someone's mind bc you want it to be that way. they have to decide on their own, on their own volition, and to truly believe in their decision, for the changes to really stick

protag johnny truant talks a lot abt his sex life and the girls he fucks, seemingly without a direct relation to what he footnotes. but theres always this weird dissociative vibe to it and a lot of ppl think he's lying to sound better than he is (smth he admits to having done, telling insane stories abt how he got his disfigurements is part of his (often unsuccesful) pickup routine), but i ask what does he have to lie about in footnotes no one is ever going to see? my theory is that they are things he thinks happened, or things he is afraid of happening, and writing them out is his way of assuaging the anxiety brought on by delusion or ocd

notably these alleged fantasies are not particularly flattering or satisfying. they are under bizarre or unideal circumstances, involve him feeling deeply ambivalent and lonely, and explicitly mentions not finishing. a woman he doesnt remember becoming friends with uses him as revenge sex on her fiancé. so i find it hard to believe hes doing it to bolster an image or even an ego. if they do happen, even in part, these are not healthy or even necessarily coping mechanisms that make him feel better. often they make him feel worse, lost, alone.

I won't deny that Johnny's parts can be hard to get through. He can be crass, misogynistic, uncomfortable, unhygenic, dissociative, painful, ugly, and sometimes there's just plain bad sex. But I think it's unfair to discount these sections as entirely discrete from and unrelated to Zampano's paper on The Navidson Record. Johnny's story is included in House of Leaves for a reason. It's a part of the whole. There's a lot to be said about Johnny, whose life has never had any security to begin with, whose life is a series of winding pathways that leave him substance reliant and unsure of his place in anything-- in space in time in other people's lives-- reading a book about a movie where this upper middle class nuclear family moves into a new house and immediately have their own sense of domestic safety completely and totally shattered.

Here he is, speaking about his disfigurements (the things he has to tell ludicrous, pulpy stories about in order for people to not recoil away from him):

lost this post twice because tumblr mobile ui hates me but yeah daniil dankovsky ed headcanons because i saw something that made me think of it earlier and now i cant stop thinking about it. (also the highest honor i can bestow on my blorbos is my specific brand of bulimia so yeah)

obligatory eating disorder and suicide mention trigger warning. i try to avoid triggering shit but this is also an eating disorder hc post. there's gonna be descriptions of thought processes and mentions of behaviors.

daniil dankovsky strikes me as a classic case of "undiagnosed autistic, perfectionist, mentally ill tween/teen who feels like they have no control over their life and develops AN (anorexia nervosa) as a means to cope," (i can also see him having a lot of health mortality anxiety in the vein of "if i dont eat perfect i'm going to die before i can cure death,") His parents forced him into treatment because he was like. yk. dying and shit. which was traumatizing as hell because treatment, especially forced treatment on an autistic person is like that 70% of the time.

Then he just kinda spends the next few decades caught up in the "liminal space of wanting to relapse in full again but doesnt have the resources or mental ability to -> relapse -> quasi recovery -> liminal space cycle," his first relapse was AN -> BN (bulimia nervosa) and he's been on and off that bulimia grind a la The Liminal Space Cycle ever since.

I give him bulimia not just to project but also because i like the idea of him kicking himself for having a "lesser" ed. (a common ed thought is the heierarchy of eds, where some are considered "better," than others)

He's extremely high functioning, excpecially during his liminal space and quasi recovery periods in large part due to his abuse of substances to combat some of the more glaring side effects and medical knowledge making him the king of harm reduction. Even when he gets bad, he's scarily good at hiding his ed (gloves to hide russel's sign. multilayered clothing, smoking to hide the smell. i have more specific examples but dont want to give tips yk) until it reaches critical mass and he's lost the ability to do his work, which along with external support from colleuges and people who look up to him, kicks him into quasi recovery.

i think he was knee deep into a relapse when he went on his steppe vacation due to the stress of probably losing Thanatica (and also autistic burnout, a bunch of other mental health and substance abuse issues hitting critical mass after so long of not really adressing them them). He did binge then purge once during the twelve days (in a "if i eat a large quantity of my meager rations now i wont binge and purge them later -> oh shit oh fuck whoever couldve forseen this kinda way). and simoltaneuosly freaked the fuck out and felt a little reassured because that was all the food he could afford and this his chances of starving to death shot up dramatically.

In all of the endings (termite, utopian, and humble) he hits rock bottom and grabs a jackhammer. like, he's still lost the thenatica and was massively traumatized by *gestures vaugley at the events of pathologic classic hd and the pathologic 3 demo.

like i know we dont really get a good picture as to what happens to him post-canon (though we know he returns to the capitol for at least some time according to the patho 3 demo) but i honestly think he gets pathologic-5150'd (realistically by serafima or someone from the town who came to the capitol as a witness for the sand plauge disaster) and spends some time in residential treatment, something he's initially against because he thinks himself too capable with too many responsibilites but comes around to it, realizing that he definetly wouldve killed himself if not for it.

I think he returns to the town, or in the case of the utopian ending, the new town on the other side of the river, mostly because there's nothing left for him in the capitol and his fractured psyche needs something different. i like to think he fully recovers someday and develops a half-decent support network but with him you never know.

listen im antirq but i kind of feel like a lot of the antirq community is not interested in the root reasons that people join these communities or in any sort of understanding or rehabilitation. it kind of seems like yall just wanna mock people. screenshotting people talking about how they wanna “transition to be transraped/transkidnapped” and going “whoaaaa what the fuck 😨” literally just alienates people struggling with intrusive thoughts/selfharm urges. and it makes it more likely that people who experience these things are gonna align themselves with rqs because they think that everyone else finds them gross or weird. honestly (and no one jump down my throat or misinterpret what im saying ffs think) i find transharmful/transharmed to be one of the most *understandable* parts of the rq community. misguided and ultimately harmful, yes, but understandable.

because of my npd, low empathy, and intrusive thoughts, i do often think of myself as a neutrally bad person. in my head, im an immoral person cosplaying as well-adjusted, and while, for the most part, thats the personality disorder talking, its often hard for me to divorce that way of thinking from my actual Self, because, uh, i live in my head. so i can see how seeing something like transabuser or transshooter might be a way for someone to try and wrestle with that kind of internal struggle (granted, a way that’ll most likely make that struggle worse but i digress). and im sure i dont have to explain why someone wishing they had certain forms of trauma isnt a spectacle and is rather, in itself, indicative of mental health struggles that aren’t to be mocked.

it’s just frustrating to see people i largely agree with doing nothing but look down their nose at people. dangerous and bigoted communities are not owed overly tender pussyfooting or whatever but like also its crazy to screenshot 15 year olds just to tongue wag. harm reduction starts with understanding and parading around (mostly teenagers) who are coping poorly is literally just gonna push them further into whatever community theyre in. like ffs just ignore them. especially if youre an adult. thats why i never talk abt this discourse on here. it doesnt fucking help if youre just gonna be an overly righteous asshole.

I have always been raised to never judge somebody based off of their political views, and normally, Im fine with that, i like to debate with people, but it doesnt change how i feel about them.

This election is different, its Trump vs. Harris, Felon vs. Prosecutor.

I genuinly do not understand how people can vote for Donald Trump, they say that their life was better under him than under biden, but biden didnt cause inflation, that was a global thing, actually, Kamala harris influenced the inflation reduction act which helped us lower inflation. Not to mention that the only reason the economy was great under trump was because OBAMA set it up that way, not trump.

You may be wondering, "how many issues do you have with donald trump?" and my answer is, alot.

Hes a 34 count felon and has been found civily liable for grape. He wants to impose tarrifs, that will make costs of goods worse. He wants to ban abortion, and impose a "normal family" law, basically demonizing gay marriage.

not to add to all the megastar confessions lately, but i would like to add my perspective as someone who is a big starscream fan and also has megastar as my current favorite ship.

first of all, i think its important to mention that obviously not every fan is going to be into it in the same way. some people may choose to play with them in more comedic, light hearted scenarios while others may be more interested in darker scenarios that dig into it as an abuse dynamic. for some people it really does boil down to finding it hot in some way, and for other people it may be a combination of all of this, or some other reason entirely. i personally am open to most intepretations of the dynamic, but i do gravitate to stories where they are framed as an abusive relationship, because thats what i find most compelling.

i think its entirely fair to feel uncomfortable by certain types of content, especially when it deals with triggering subjects. but those stories still serve a purpose for the people reading them. is the same reason some people read tragedies, because it's an evocative story, and a lot of people are interested in complicated characters and relationships purely because it makes for a good story, and not because they lack the ability to tell its wrong. people are generally capable of engaging with complicated themes in fiction without wishing to advocate for them in real life. i think the only reason ships like megastar end up being so controversial is because theres this idea that shipping involves viewing something as romantic, when shipping can also just be about finding something interesting. i dont see why liking terrible characters is deemed okay, but liking terrible relationships is not. why is one more dangerous than the other inherently? people have an aversion to dark subjects when it applies to romance and sex specifically. and this is fair on a personal level but cannot be used against others with different boundaries and limits.

when it comes to people finding it hot, i think people have a very reductive view on it. power dynamics are a common aspect of kink, and some people choose to explore said power dynamics through fiction. it doesnt mean you cant acknowledge that a dynamic like that would be horrible if replicated, but fantasy is rarely meant to be 1:1 with our real life desires. most sexual fantasies are not literal. and where does the line between finding something interesting and finding it erotic begin? where does it end? most people i know who find the relationship hot are very self aware of the nature of it, and simultaneously care a lot about it on a narrative level and are very dedicated to analyzing it and giving it thought. fiction can evoke multiple feelings on a person, and its not going to make you feel the exact same as if it was a real situation. stories are not meant to be treated exactly like real life, theyre meant to be treated like, well, stories.

this isnt to say abuse apologism cant be expressed through fiction, but it honestly doesnt look like what most people think it does. fanfiction with problematic relationships in a sexual light is often meant to be read within a fetishistic context where its already understood that these relationships are an exploration of certain fantasies and not supposed to be replicated, while there are certain stories that, for example, attempt to justify the abuse or act like its not happening because the author genuinely believes it is okay, and part of reading things critically means being able to understand what message the author wants you to come across. this absolutely applies to fan works as well. its a very nuanced discussion that has more to do with being able to understand the themes of fiction works and their purpose, but people boil it down to "dark fiction is inherently bad, and using fiction to explore dark sexual fantasies is also bad and means you believe abuse is okay."

i would also add that as someone who has been abused, the reality is that for a lot of victims it does leave us with complicated feelings for our abuser that are difficult to reconcile, and fiction is an avenue to explore that. my sexual fantasies were definitely impacted by my trauma, and thats a really ugly and uncomfortable truth, we dont like to think of victims as having complex feelings on our trauma or "gross" trauma responses, but it happens, and judgement like this certainly doesnt create safe spaces for those of us with unpalatable responses.

I dont like the "Sigewinne is Wriothesley's daughter!" Headcanon.

At first i didnt mind it. Before i played Fontaine's Storyquests i keept seeing those cute fanarts of them being potrayed as Dad and child and thought they were so adorable, i was conviced that i would see that dynamic on the story.

But then i played The whole Fontaine's Storyquest, then the Wriothesley mission, and finally the Sigewinne one. And not even once i saw an interaction between them that amade me feel like they have that relationship, in fact, i started questioning that it was weird to see them as that...

Im not gonna debate if Sigewinne is a child or an adult, but it is canon that she is OLDER than him and that she saw him grow up since he was a child. I dont belive he is capable of seeing her as a daughter.

On Sigewinne's Storyquest there was a part where Paimon refers to her as "Wriothesley's younger co-workers" and Wrio HIMSELF inmediatelly corrects her to say that Sigewinne is older than him. This scene made me realize how fucking crazy this headcanon is on Wriothesley's perspective:

Imagine that you have a coworker thats an ageless non-human creature that lived over 500 years and met you since you were a kid. You work alongside this person through the years and actually became friends and have a good relationship even when working. Then people looking at you two are like "awww is that your kid?", i would be like uh.

Also i dont think i can recall a single moment between them where they acted in a way that can be intrepeted as parent and child, their interactions were always formal or friendly but not that. The only thing that i guess can count is how she likes to put stickers on his things but even that feels like kinds of a stretch to me lmao.

The real reason why i dislike this hc is because to me is so reductive of both of their characters. I found their backstories interesting and i really like their characters, and this headcanons always seems to come from people who didnt really pay attention to their stories or interactions and just want to force that relationship in them.

Sigewinne goes from being this kind, curious non-human creature that took years to be trusted by humanity and now dedicates to take care of everyone's health because she cares about others, to being "OMG she is a KAWAII DESU NE child! Awwwwww!!!! She plays doctors and is very pretty!!! That handsome guy is def her daddy!! :333". Almost everyone who i saw with this headcanon doesnt give two shits about Sigewinne as a character, they only like her because she is "a cute kid with a pretty design" and they can force her to be Wrio's kid so they can pretend he is a Dilf.

You know what their relationship is more like to me? Just Coworkers that trust in each other, thats it. I likr their friendship, its cute how they clearly care about their job but also about each other, they always make a good team. But its def not familiar, at least not on my opinion.

I have nothing against people who have this headcanon, but i wish they stoped acting as if it was "canon" or the only aceptable way to intrepet their relationship. Especially if theyre gonna use it to "confirm" their fuckass ships, like thats when i absolutelly hate this headcanon.

idk, its just my opinion but this hc is forced af and it stoped being cute when i started paying attention to their stories and interactions.

I'm torn on this case tbh because on one hand you're right that it's obviously okazaki and that it being obvious isn't necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but on the other hand case 3 being both the most obvious culprit and the most over-the-top unapologetically evil/insane one is such well-tread ground for DR it feels kinda weird for tetro to lean into that given how well it's shaken up the formula up to this point, yknow?

anon i think this mindset is indicative of a huge problem i see in the tetro fandom lol. stop holding tetro to an unreasonable standard. its a really good piece of writing but people who are expecting it to shatter the foundations of media or whatever are asking a lot from a single writer whos never done a project before now.

also i think people tend to misinterpret people "shaking up the formula." its shaking up the formula, yes, but not in a way where its completely ignoring or evading the formula. its taking the formula and reshaping it into something new and interesting. i have full faith that if tetro does go down the route of oka as the killer, it will pull off making that feel new and interesting.

also calling okazaki "evil/insane" feels super reductive lmao. shes not evil anon shes a 17 year old. doing awful shit doesnt make you EVIL shes a human being

Have you seen the 2017 My Little Pony Movie? If so, do you everyone was acting OOC in the movie? I've been seeing so many people say this. Like Rainbow Dash doing a Sonic Rainboom while in the midst of showing off to those pirates didn't really seem out of character for her, but that's my opinion.

Honestly i dont think its a matter of being out of character, btu rather character reduction. Every girl of the mane 6 winds up being reduced to the most core components of their character, be it catchphrases or just a basic way of acting. rainbow is cocky, pinkie is loud, rarity is vain, AJ is pragmatic and somehow, Fluttershy basically only ever whimpers in the movie. the camera turns to her and shes whimpering, lmao. That's all in character, completely. its just not creative or interesting or expressive. Pinkie being used as a distraction because she's loud and loves parties is almost a meta relationship with this, Twilight knows.

I think what also doesnt help the movie is how pointless of a roadtrip journey the movie is? Like. its a movie about going from point A to point B mindlessly, but there's no real defined purpose. The maggufin they find is just an orb that makes you into a water pony, why did twilight thing that was a tool that could be used against the storm king? Who fuckin knows. the hippogriffs dont help, its all won n the end due to teamwork. its funny that they in the end assault the castle by just... going there with the friends they made along the way.

BUT LIKE BITCH YOU ALREADY HAD FRIENDS. IN PONYVILLE AND BEYOND EVEN.LIKE DOZENS OF FRIENDS THAT WOULD GLADLY HELP Where's starlight and trixie during the fall of equestria?! Having gay sex?! smh

I also am not fond of how many bipedal characters are added in here, the ponies stand out so much in a world made for creatures with hands, and even the comics dont add this many. it feels weird bc they had so many species to pick from, from changelings, yaks, griffons, etc etc, and they just made a bunch of furry people that stand and slapped them in the movie. the hoppogriffs were a nice addition even if they dont do nothin. Maybe they realised a quadrupedal world with hands is just impractical lmao

Anyways I have a lot to critique about the movie but I feel like it just all bogs down to it being like... Kind of empty to me. Devoid of an usual flair or artistic vision some episodes and specials seem to have. Characters are there to do what they usually do, the princesses are kicked out of the way so twilight and her friend scan save the day, its pretty formulaic. Maybe I'm spoiled by equestria girls and how each movie has a diffrent and awesome vibe and every character has smth to do in it lmao.

Anyways tempest is cool but she stands out like a sore thumb and her not being in FIM or EQG is just sad. Also the comics do her justice and give her a fucking girlfriend, one of her childhood friends, its really damn sweet.

several months ago i had made a post about voting as harm reduction -- and it's ok to me if people disagree with that general statement! i can understand if youd rather "harm reduction" remain used solely for drug use! i can understand that! that doesnt mean im stupid and dont know what the term means if i apply it in other ways!

and this random stranger that had never interacted w me ever before this had dug so deep into my profile they found this post to vague about it MONTHS LATER on the DAY OF TRUMPS INAUGURATION to say "everyone who voted for kamala should be embarrassed of themselves" like sorry first of all little late for that shit buddy how are you voteshaming on inauguration day. second of all... is that somehow MORE embarrassing than vaguing about a post made months ago? somehow more embarrassing than doing this on the day a trump takes office, already doing immense damage, reversing what good bidens administration has managed to do?

like im not harris' friend. i dont *like* her. and as president she would have always been inherently my enemy. but it is so hard for me to understand these peoples positions. like yea the american government is a cesspool and a mockery of democratism. yeah a fascist goverment is fascist no matter who sits at the head. all of this is true. but how. how on EARTH. can you not see our fight would have been easier with harris? how can you ignore that?

Remember, she would have been 99% Hitler. Basically no difference at all.
