Sure, maybe her lack of consideration is a tad fucked up, but they've got little time to waste before their shared situation possibly goes from and to worse. Careless as she is, Nicolette is ready to take responsibility for him— unless, of course, he does drown and CPR doesn't work. Perhaps she should've listened to the vague warnings the people in Opalarian Market Town had given about wandering too-far east. Honestly, it would've been better not to mention it at all so as not to encourage her insatiable curiosity and habitual recklessness! Turns out, the rumors of thieves and assassins roaming The Underside was a severe understatement. Who would've thought she'd be ambushed and kidnapped by a group of armed, masked assailants? They hadn't even given her time to draw blood before they'd knocked her out— a bunch of fucking cowards, if you asked her! It was pure luck they'd thought to shove her in the crate after wounding her. None of them would've survived had they'd remained when she awoke.

Too bad the damsel-in-distress they'd grabbed was hardly defenseless.

The moment her body hits the water the pain is almost unbearable, so cold it feels as though thousands of knives slice at her skin. Even so, her vice-like grip on the young man's arm remains despite his struggling. Thank God her legs are strong as they are, enough that she can propel them both upwards with fervent, desperate kicking. Her lungs are nearly ready to burst by the time they break the surface.

I don’t think people who don’t have chronic illness can understand the horror that is new years. the marked passage of time when everyone gets to demarcate the year, and say ‘it’s all going to be different this year’

for us, for me, there is no getting better. there is no cure. it’s a guaranteed life of actual legit suffering.

I try to cram it into one 38 hour period or I’ll never get anything done. for the rest of the year I try to ignore the bleakness, but…it sucks…
