I don’t know if I believe in god, but I believe god would celebrate trans people. I think human diversity is beautiful, natural, and unique to all of us. I’ve also seen that the vatican released articles protecting transgender people under similar logic(please correct me if you see otherwise). Anyway, just wanted to counterbalance that anon semen hate thing.. lol

I know this is from a good place, and I'm gonna be the asshole here, but its difficult for me to accept the kindness you're trying to extend.

I think that seeking validation and a moral code from anything other than "live your life in a way that's going to make the most people the most real and happy, including yourself", including seeking that from some kind of being of external influence, makes you susceptible to guilt and manipulation by people who use the ever-changing "interpretation" of that will to get people to live to their interests as opposed to yours, and that this philosophy isn't limited to situations where the will of that being is interpreted as something that benefits me specifically because that feels like a shortsighted mental trap of constantly validating my own life decisions to myself in a nonstop cycle of searching for approval from an influence that, by definition, doesn't communicate with me.

And funnily enough, the Vatican is the perfect example. The statements you're talking about basically amount to the same "love the sinner, hate the sin" shit we've all heard for pretty much our entire lives, and was basically only written with the intent of inviting lgbt people in to try and save their poor little misguided souls:

But thanks, I guess. Sorry to be a dick, I know this came from a good place, but its hard for me to mask my opinion on this kind of thing. I'll fully admit there's a personal sting here. I was the most patient, good little, explaining and validating tranny with a couple Christian "friends" earlier this year, only to find that they were stringing me along so they could try to "save" me. Trying to find validation in organized religion will always be a losing battle. These are organizations built upon decades of power structures that require specific family dynamics for population growth and control. I don't know if there's a god or not, by definition its really impossible to say one way or the other. But the Christian God is so transparently a tool for political manipulation in a way that should be obvious to queer people, and efforts to make the church seem "okay" for queer people more often than not have that same, thinly-veiled disgust associated with them. "oh, don't worry, we all have our little sins! Jeff gambles, Tom is gay, John smokes..." that kind of shit. That's not acceptance. It's thinly veiled disgust that will drop the moment there's an excuse.

Are there truly accepting Christians? Yeah, of course. But if you hand me a gun and claim its not loaded, I'm not testing it by pulling the trigger in my mouth.

just wanna get some thoughts out about april o'neil (mainly to hype up why i enjoy her in 87) so this is an analysis of writing her in each generation of shows.

1987 april o'neil is a character who i think has more agency than most of her counterparts, and i think it lies in the choice to make her a reporter.

i can understand where the negative sentiment about changing her career from scientist comes from, but hear me out. if we understand that the turtles as characters just kind of fall into plots, whether they have a history with it or not, it lets us understand that april is here because she's a key in the story.

so originally her story is that shes the assistant of baxter stockman, and he sets a trap to kill her, leaving her to be killed by mousers and saved by the turtles, but after that her life outside of anything turtle related is kind of... non existent. dont get me wrong, being an adult woman who takes in a bunch of teenage turtles makes her anything but boring, but in that concept (and other adaptations since then) we dont get a feel for what she could be doing if she wasnt around the turtles.

in 87 april her job as a reporter is central to the premise. she is the human they hang out with, and she has a day job, so her life becomes the turtles lives. the other humans in her life become the other humans in the turtles lives.

we have her boss Burn Thompson, who’s your typical J Jonah Jameson ‘get me a story on those mutant menace turtles’, giving her that classic Peter Parker role. he often tries to get her to do more feminine stories, which she always has to fight back against.

we also get her rival reporter and occasional camera man Vernon Fenwick, always trying to prove he’s better than her at their job, always trying to steal whatever story she’s on, always failing and proving that he is not as capable or brave as she is.

and we get the secretary and her best friend Irma, who contrasts to her character very well by being the more dorky and lovesick comedic counterpart to her assertive independent serious character. you fully believe these two women are friends in that workplace way, its very real.

certain aspects of these news room dynamics are great, like how despite all the turtle coms looking like radios, we give april one that looks like a compact mirror. why? because if she hears news of something the turtles should check out, when she calls them she gets to just look like shes checking her makeup. she gets to use the workplace sexism to her advantage.

another aspect is, why do the turtles have to save april? is it cuz people always kidnap her? no, its because she gets herself into trouble. shes always looking for a big story, shes not afraid of the bad guys. she goes looking for danger because shes a very capable person, and her becoming the big sister to the turtles, or maybe cool single aunt, feels very natural.

i love her, i love that she's kind of a loser with only work friends, that she doesnt date much cuz shes kind of a weirdo, i love that if she's not with the turtles we can imagine what she's up to. she feels very real, and she's not a character who could be replaced by an object, her life is central to that show. and i love that they dont need to make her a fighter or anything to do that, and its surprising coming from the oldest show.

so to go into the next two cartoons and this is not to dig on 03 or 12 as characters, but in both cases the writers dont really give us much perspective on what her life is or was outside of the guys.

in 03s case, shes that same comic april i mentioned earlier. but we know a lot more about casey in this show than we do her. we know she has the antique shop, and thats where she is, but who does she talk to? does she have friends? she has casey, but she knows him because the turtles know him.

in back story, we can assume her parents died, and we know her uncle went missing, and that the episode they found him we see she has a sister who's never come up before. but neither of those characters show up again after that. not even at her wedding. we see everyone in the turtles lives, we see everyone in casey's life (even his shitty cousin) but aprils family isnt there. so who is she she if she isnt around the guys? i guess she sells antiques. but does she have a life outside of that building? we also know she's a scientist, shes as smart as donnie, but where does she use that skill with computers outside of helping the turtles?

like shes still that same loser adult woman hanging out with turtles, this time shes taken up ninja training from splinter, and we know in the future shes going to found a tech company, but that feels more like flowery language about her, as opposed to getting to see her be someone interesting on her own.

and then in 12s case she's the only april i know who fails the sexy lamp test upon debut. shes kidnapped and the only reason the turtles go rescue her is because donnie thinks shes pretty. sure, we could say its because shes a person in need, but we all know that upon introduction she is love interest first, character second (as are.... most all of the women in that show). from that point, we know she has her dad, and unlike in the previous versions (including comics and movies) its april who has to stay with the turtles for a while, not the other way around. which on its own would be fine, but shes always sort of there. whats she up to? does she have her own interests? like in 03 when shes staying with the turtles for a bit after her shop blows up, we see she's butting heads with them a bit. same as when they stayed with her. but here she kind of just takes on whatever the turtles do, whatever they watch or are interested in. they also make her special. shes here because shes different. thats not bad on its own, but it means that she very much could be anyone, shes here not by her own choices leading her here, but because the plot is thrust upon her, not the turtles, as it has been in all other iterations.

this kind of comes to a head with the introduction of casey and irma into that show. on the surface you'd think, well there we go, she has human friends, those are hers and not the turtles friends, but they never properly introduce her or us to irma. they show irma calling her in one episode (and shes labeled 'weird-girl', so whats the story there?) and then when we meet her properly its so she can be a third body in the introduction of casey jones. the running gag of this is basically whenever april isnt around the turtles now, she's with casey and sometimes casey and irma, but we never understand why. and then youd think, well thats cool if april is who becomes friends with casey, and then casey is in the turtles lives because of her, but he actually just ends up following raphael home. they do make a point of making it so he's accepted because she's there, but he's never implied to be her friend more than the turtles'.

she invites irma along to a date with casey, neither irma or casey understanding why. is it because she doesnt want to date casey? maybe. but the writers never make her intentions clear to the audience, we're left speculating. irma comes up a few times more, always in more or less the same context, and often asking who are the mysterious friends you have besides me. i truly wish we could have seen any moments of why these two are friends, how these two are friends, what they do when april isnt with the turtles, before they pull the rug out from under us and show that irma? yeah she was actually a krang all along. and she was only here to get to the turtles. and it never seems to bother april much, besides the one outburst when it happens. to me it feels like she should at least... grieve this friend? that would be traumatizing. your only friend in your own world was never real.

i like that the farm house gets to belong to april again, as opposed to being casey's family farm, so that gives her something. but then we understand why when we're introduced to her mom. we think. a real kicker here is uh. we dont even know her moms name? she's just..... mrs o'neil. because she didnt really matter, she wasnt real. like her dad got a name (because reference), why cant her mom even have a name? a thing that bothers me here is, ok we know her dad kept getting kidnapped, or mutated, or became so traumatized that he never left the house, but we never even get that kind of basic family aspect to the first teenage april. the turtles, for better or worse, are her family in this show. thats her real support system. and its frustrating because two of the characters here just oggle her. whether its an episode where april could have a crush on donnie or casey back or not, the fact she's got no support or someone to talk to about it from someone outside of those characters brothers really sucks for her agency in this story. we never get to grasp how she feels about any of it. which is why i think those romances give people the ick, theyre things that could work if the show ever cared to tell us how april feels.

and then by the end she gets to be a kunoichi with telekinesis, a thing she got into because of the turtles, and a thing she just got to be because genetically shes special. i wish this april got to be a character who had things of her own that she could choose to be. like, she still lives above that same antique store from 03, maybe she could have had a family history there like 03, but even something simple as that is just an in name only reference. theres no part of her that feels like she chose to be it, or that there's anything about her life that isn't directly related to the turtles.

now we get to rise. and honstly, rise april is a breath of fresh air. she is a teen like the previous april, but shes also just as willing to get herself into danger by her own choices as 87. shes a fighter like 03 and 12, and unlike every other version, shes just here. we dont need to know how she got here, she's part of this family and you believe it.

we have our big sister april who's not only a loser who hangs out with turtles, but she's a complete weird magnet. she's overly excitable, very willing to get into fights, who has a strong sense of justice and getting into trouble to fix it. this series is more episodic like 87, so to just get the jist, episode one. april needs rescuing because why? she threw herself into a mystic portal to save a random creature. thats what sets the turtles off on their mystic adventure in the first place. because she put herself in harms way. and when they go to rescue her, shes actually fine. she finds them a place to get new weapons, she's the first one to run in and try to attack the villain. none of the guys ever coddle her or say "oh there goes april we have to rescue her", this time we have an april who is a fully capable fighter from the get go.

we see her school life, she doesnt have any friends besides a random guy who has a crush on her, and shes desperate to fit in. then we get sunita. we see exactly why these two are friends. it starts with april thinking shes found a normal kid at school, trying to prove to the guys she can be a normal teenager who doesnt need their weirdness, but as it turns out sunita is a yokai. shes from that same mystic world, but she didnt come into april's life because of the turtles, she came into her life because they like each other. they're just two weird girls who hang out, they like laser tag and rock shows, and we fully believe they are friends.

another aspect to her is her jobs, she's like jonesy from 6teen. she gets new jobs basically weekly, sometimes hijinks ensue, leading the turtles to an event unfolding around her, and keeps getting into trouble and getting fired, but this leaves her with a plethora of skills (and keys to random buildings or machinery good for you for not giving those back, respect).

then we also get to see an entire episode where the turtles dont appear, because its about her. we see her passion for helping the world, we see her disbelief in herself, and her ability to pick herself up. theres a moment where you think splinter is going to need to give her a pep talk, but she ignores him. she's got herself. she doesn't need to rely on the guys or splinter for her confidence, shes capable on her own.

then i think my favorite aspect here is about the finale, where we get this touching moment between her and karai where she doubts her place in the family, lamenting that she's not one of them. and its not one of the guys who tells her she is, it's karai. its another woman in this story. its the woman who's history this story has been leading up to, affirming april's part in her story. in their families story. and she gifts april her spirit. which leads her to go finding ,and in a way rescuing them, from their despair.

this april is a fully realized character, with a real place in the story. you never doubt it, but even if she wasn't you know exactly who she'd be without them. she's her own fully rounded character, and i love her so much. theres a reason people say she's definitively the best april, i wish we got to see more of her, i know we were supposed to get more, just like with everything from rise. but im glad she got to shine here.

so this is kind of why in terms of writing april, i think its interesting that the most agency we get for her, in my perspective, comes from the newest and oldest show.

basically to summarize and reiterate, all april's are good april's, some writers just care more to show us who she is than others.

In the morning you wake up and see that you're alone. When you look around the room you discover the clothes you wore yesterday on a chair next to the bedroom door. Washed, dried and ironed. There's a note on the folded stack of clothes and you read it.

"Take your time getting ready, take a long shower in my bathroom if you want and make some food in the kitchen. We're checking up on some intel on the guys from yesterday. Back around twelve."

So after a long shower and this time not dropping your clothes on the wet floor, you walk into the kitchen and look around for someone to help you, since you don't know where to find anything you need. No one's here and you decide to inspect all the cabinets and drawers. You hear footsteps behind you and turn around. An older woman stands in front of you.

"Can I help you?" A friendly voice asks.

"Yes, um- sorry, I-" Embarrassed from getting caught you look at the floor.

"Don't worry, Coronel Vargas told me to help you with breakfast if you came into the kitchen. Is there anything I can make for you?"

"Are there any leftovers?" You don't want to bother this woman to cook for you.

"Sweetheart, I was ordered to make you something fresh. Don't be shy, tell me what you would like to have now. Come take a look in the fridge." She leads you into a massive walk-in fridge. Lots of men and women have to be fed three times a day, so they need a big space to keep everything at the right temperature. You feast your eyes on all the ingredients present, think about which ones you want to eat now.

"I would love some Mexican scrambled eggs."

She hands you a basket lined with a patterned dishcloth. "What do you want in your scrambled eggs?"

"Green and red peppers, cherry tomatoes, some toasted bread on the side." You dream about all the ingredients that would be good together.

"Alejandro and Rudy will be back by the time your food is done. They'll like this too." The products you name are put in the basket by the woman. "Looks good." She takes the basket from you and starts preparing the ingredients on the large counter in the kitchen.

"Can I help? I feel bad for letting someone else do all the work."

"Of course, sweetheart." She walks out of this part of the kitchen and comes back a few seconds later with a cutting board and knife. "Don't feel bad for having someone do their job. I get paid to make food." You nod and start cutting the peppers into small cubes, while the woman quarters the cherry tomatoes. She softens the cut-up vegetables in a deep skillet and you whisk the eggs until there's no separation of white and yellow anymore. You oil the slices of bread and put them in the preheated oven, while the woman scrambles the eggs in the skillet. "You're late! You said you'd be back at twelve." The woman hits Rodolfo with a wooden ladle.

"Sorry, mama. We had to take a detour because of a military checkpoint." This is his mother! 

"Corrupt?"

"Very possible, we didn't want to risk it."

"Good choice. Now sit, lunch is ready. And breakfast for you, sweetheart." She lays her hand on your back and guides you to the closest table. The men scoop their plates full of food before sitting down and immediately start stuffing their mouths. "As if they're starving."

"Mama, it's been four hours since we had breakfast!"

"I gave you food for on the road." Rudy's mom makes him look down at his plate in defeat.

"It's lovely as always, Mrs. Parra." Alejandro compliments.

"I had wonderful help." Encouraging she places her hand on your shoulder. Alejandro looks up at you with a smile on his face, before he goes back to eating. "It's still Violeta for you, honey." She turns to you. "I've known him since they both joined the military when they were sixteen and he still addresses me so formally." You chuckle and scoop up, are also starving, just like the men across the table. "Hey, how are you feeling after last night's fun?" Alejandro sits next to you at the table you had breakfast at.

"Great. I'm glad I was able to thank you both like that." You see him laugh at your words, but his expression turns serious again quickly and you're worried that there's some bad news about the cartel guys. "Was I an isolated attack?"

"Yes, we reviewed everything the intel could find on kidnappings. Your name was nowhere to be found. They probably decided to take you when they spotted you alone, an easy target." He explains. It soothes your nerves that no other cartel members know about yesterday, so there won't be another group waiting for an opportunity to catch you again. "Ready to go home?"

"Yes." You're happy to go home again, yesterday was a scary experience, but you will also miss Alejandro, Rudy and his mother. It may have only been one evening, an amazing night, and one morning, but too much has happened to walk away untouched by all of this. By them.

"Let's go." "Thanks again for saving me." Maybe in another life, maybe in another world, an alternate universe - will you meet them again.

Neon Genesis Evangelion 03

You know, I hate to say it, but this show's been pretty friggin' boring so far. I mean, the animation's excellent, and the character designs are really top-notch, but there's these long stretches where nothing actually happens. The dull parts are probably intended to make the robot battles more exciting, but Shinji kind of sucks at fighting, and this whole show seems designed to make me feel guilty about his predicament, so it's hard to enjoy the action, you know?

This one opens with Shinji doing some target practice with his Eva. Ritsuko talks him through the drills, reviewing the technical details of the unit. For example, that cable coming out of its back is a power line, because their battery technology sucks in this world. If the cable gets cut, the Eva has 5 minutes of battery life before it shuts down.

Shinji just sort of exists through these drills like he's in a trance. Ritsuko observes that he seems to go through life just doing whatever he's told.

Misato got him a cell phone when he moved in with her, and she expected him to use it a lot when he started at his new school here in Tokyo-3, but she hasn't heard it ring even once, and she suspects that he has no friends.

The two women consider the Hedgehog's dilemma: the notion that hedgehogs have trouble socializing with one another, because the closer they get the more likely that they'll hurt each other with their quills. Pretty sure that's not actually how hedgehogs work, and I'm pretty sure that's not Shinji's problem.

So far, all I really know about Shinji is that he doesn't particularly like himself very much, and he's adapted to his life in such a way where he just passively accepts everything that happens to him. I'm pretty sure this has a lot to do with the way his dad just sort of glares at him instead of interacting with him like a normal human parent.

I suppose, in theory, Shinji could find some common ground with Rei Ayanami, the other Eva pilot, but he just stares at her while she stares out the window. This is what I mean when I say this show is getting boring. Everyone just sort of keeps restating the premise. The world's in danger from these Angels, the Evas are the only thing that can stop them, and Rei and Shinji are the only ones who can pilot the Evas, so they're desperately needed, but they're also completely distant and isolated from the rest of society. This seems like a really major problem that someone should try to solve, but we're on Episode 3 and everyone just keeps staring at this mess waiting for it to clean itself up.

Let's talk about Shinji's school, because apparently that's incredibly fascinating. Yes, I sure am interested in school. Just the other day I was thinking to myself that there aren't enough animes about schools. They should make... a thousand of them, all set in schools, and everyone could wear the same clothes, even the ones that take place in the future, when you'd expect them to have come up with new social customs. Argh, fuck this.

After the battle in episodes 1 and 2, a lot of people just moved out of Tokyo-3, so it looks like the classes are nearly deserted, except there's a packed house once the classes actually begin. The teacher just happens to give a lesson on the backstory of this world. In 1999 a meteor hit Antarctica, setting off disasters and climate changes that wiped out half the human population. He doesn't get into the Angels, although if I understand correctly, the last one showed up 15 years prior to the start of this show, and the second one showed up in Episode 1. So maybe there's not much to tell.

Anyway, Shinji gets a text message on his laptop asking him to respond to rumors about him being the Eva pilot who saved the city three weeks ago. He says he is the pilot, and the whole class starts asking him questions, ignoring the teacher completely. Everyone thinks Shinji is pretty cool, even though he can't actually tell them anything about his pilot work, and he just sort of murmurs all of his dialogue like a drugged kitten.

Well, one kid doesn't like Shinji, because his sister was crushed by falling debris during the attack, and she's been hospitalized ever since. He blames the Eva pilot for fighting the Angel inside the city, and now that he knows it's Shinji, he punches the shit out of him. Shinji mutters that he didn't pilot the Eva by choice, so the kid punches him again.

Then Rei stands over him like the spectre of death and informs him that they got an emergency call. She says she's going to report for duty, but this is the last time we see her this whole episode. I'm pretty sure Rei does something in this show, but I don't understand why it's taking this long to get to that.

It's another angel and... wow. This is a serious downgrade from the last one. NERV mobilizes the Eva, which seems kind of obvious since that's literally the only thing that works. Apparently this is the fourth Angel, so the third must have been the one from Episode 1 three weeks ago, and the second must have been the one they talked about from 2000.

Misato remarks that NERV's commander, Gendo Ikari, is away, but what difference does it make? All he did the last time was stare at the monitor and smirk occasionally. I think they can manage without him.

Shinji wonders why he's still doing this when his dad's not around to see it. I get that characters don't always understand their own motivations. They're not always honest with themselves, or they act impulsively, or whatever. But I feel like if you put on a leotard to sit in the cockpit of a robot about to do battle against a giant monster, you ought to have some vague idea of why you're doing it.

Anyway, Tokyo-3 goes into battle-station mode, and Shinji engages the Angel, and... immediately goes to pieces. The Angel kicks his ass and severs his power cable, so now he's only got five minutes left before the Eva shuts off completely.

Shinji continues to take a beating, and eventually falls near his two classmates, who snuck out of the bomb shelter to see the battle. The one of the left is fascinated by this Angel/NERV conflict, and the one of the right is the kid who beat Shinji up earlier. Seeing them makes Shinji freeze up, which is impressive because I thought he was already freezing up earlier in the battle. What, is he double-freezed up now? How much does this Angel suck that it still hasn't managed to kill him?

I guess he sort of pulls it together long enough to keep the monster busy while Misato orders the hatch open so the other kids can get inside the robot with him for safety. Ritsuko objects to this, but Misato seems to be in charge, so she gets her way.

Apparently just having passengers on board the Eva can screw up its delicate interaction with the pilot, so this further disrupts Shinji's ability to defend himself. I thought he was already incapacitated from his initial fear, and then again from worrying about his classmates, and now this. Next some guy is gonna show up and stab Shinji in the throat just to make this extra difficult.

But then Shinji goes berserk just like he did in Episode 2, and he manages to kill the Angel before his battery runs out of power. So it all works out.

Three days later... Rei's still staring out that window. Thanks for coming out tonight, Rei.

Shinji hasn't been back to class since the battle, and the kid who beat him up before feels bad about it, now that he understands what Shinji's job is really like. His pal gives him Shinji's phone number to call him and apologize.

And he goes to a phone, but I'm pretty sure he chickens out for some reason. Or maybe Shinji doesn't answer. Whatever.

And that's it. Wow, that sucked. Business will probably pick up later, but I hope it doesn't take too long, because this really isn't doing it for me.

Misato does the next-episode preview segments and she promises "lots of fan service" in Episode 4. Yeesh.

Part Seven - You Forgot Something

In the pub with your friends after work you were a little tipsy on cocktails; about an hour ago you posted a picture on your story of you and your friends. Rachel had spotted it and asked where you were, replying with ‘this little gay bar in town called The Queer Lion’ a play on The Black/Red Lion pubs you see up and down the country. Then sent her a short video of the drag queen that was performing that night. You didn’t think anything of it until about 90 minutes later when you were all on the dance floor, you saw your girl moving through the crowd towards you like something out of a rom-com. She was wearing a baseball cap that covered her face so nobody would recognise and swamp her. “What the hell are you doing here?!” you asked unable to hide your excitement as she wrapped her arms around your waist to dance with you. “You forgot something!” she shouted over the music, you raised an eyebrow as if to ask what? “Me!” her face lit up with her cheeky smile “no it’s in my car I’ll give it to you later” but you felt inquisitive “shouldn’t you be at practice?” you asked as you danced together. “Sarina let us go early so I thought I’d come meet your friends…. and kiss your beautiful face” smiling as you obliged to her request. Your friends who were off dancing with randomers finally realised what was going on and immediately dragged you both back to the table, Rachel’s arm was around your shoulders while your hand rested on her thigh under the table. They wanted every single detail but from Rachel’s mouth this time, you tried to tell them that they already know everything but they insisted in hearing Rachel’s side. They squealed in excitement at the details of asking you to be her girlfriend and meeting her family and with the meet and greet out the way, it was soon time to head home. “Can you stay tonight or do you need to get back?” you proposed hopefully. “I can stay, I don’t need to be there until 5pm” - the girls suggested staying at theirs as your mum probably wouldn’t appreciate waking up to her daughter’s new girlfriend first thing in the morning, she’d want to clean the house top to bottom first. Rach saved you a taxi fare by driving you all back to the flat. You all went straight to bed as it’s going to be a long day tomorrow, the girls shared one bed while you and Rach shared the other - under strict instructions ‘no hanky panky’! With your legs draped over each other you made out for what felt like forever, hands feeling each other’s body but nothing more as you respected your friend’s boundaries.

In the morning you’d gathered in the kitchen, Katie had bought McDonald’s for everyone but didn’t realise that Rachel wasn’t allowed to eat it so you raffled hers off with each of you getting an extra item. “Do you have any fruit?” Rachel asked naively “hunny, we’re three women in our 30s, the only fruit we have is in a bottle of wine” Georgia laughed. You said you’ll stop off at a shop on the way to mum’s, you told the girls you’ll pick them up later for the game and left to head to your home to introduce your girl to the family; grabbing Rach some breakfast on the way, she also picked up some flowers for your mum which you thought was extra adorable.

Your mum had kept the secret, her and your dad aren’t together anymore but he’d come over as you said it was urgent. You introduced Rachel to everyone and they said how excited they were for both of you and couldn’t wait for the game later, they thanked her for getting them tickets. They all seemed to get on so well, mum was a bit sceptical that you were moving so fast but Rachel insisted that she cares about you so much and promised she wouldn’t do anything to hurt you. You showed Rachel your bedroom but you spend most of your time at the girl’s place, you didn’t have the heart to move out and leave mum by herself while your sister’s at uni, which Rachel respected and understood. “This is cute” she said pointing to a poster of the Lionesses on your wall, you cringed a little “I really should have done a sweep before bringing you up here” you squirmed “I like it” a big smile spread across her face as she pulled you in to her and kissed your forehead. You packed a bag with some clothes to take to Rachel’s, seeing as you’ve been spending so much time there you really needed some of your own items. Rachel remembered she had something for you and went to get it out of the car, it was another shirt with her name and number. “Will you wear this tonight please?” she asked politely and adorably a little shy. “You’re quite possessive aren’t you babe” you laughed, “there’s just something about having my girl in the stands with my name on her back that makes me feel empowered. I’ve never had a girlfriend in the family stand before and I want everyone to know I have the most beautiful girl there” she pined. “You can be a right cringey little git yknow” you laughed at her “of course I’ll wear it, I want everyone to know that’s my girl on the pitch playing for our country at Wembley Stadium!” Her face lit up as she squeezed you tightly and kissed your forehead. She said she should probably get going and gave you the tickets for everyone then walked her out to her car. Sexily leaning up against it as she wrapped her arms around the bottom of your back, you rested yours on her shoulders, linking your fingers together behind her neck and sharing a kiss. As she said goodbye she winked making you let out a small grunt and shake your head as it filled you with fanny flutters. “Don’t do that when you’re leaving me!” you pushed her away gently, “why not?” she smirked knowing what she was doing. “Because that was fucking hot and now I want you” you poured “you’ll have to wait” she smiled and winked again before driving away, biting your bottom lip as you watched her disappear in front of you.

On the drive home Rachel was singing to her favourite songs thinking to herself that the only other time she’s ever been this happy is when they won the Euros. She called Millie on the way to ask if she wanted a lift to the stadium, Levi wasn’t coming tonight as he had his own boxing game. Rachel pulled up outside her best friend’s house and bibbed her horn to get her to come outside. They picked up coffee on the way and spoke about meeting your family. “You’ve already fallen for her haven’t you Rach, I can tell on your face, you’re so happy all of the time, you need to wife this girl up!” Rachel told Millie it was way too soon for that but she is fighting with herself not to say the L word just yet. “It keeps going to slip off my tongue and I have to stop it, honestly I think this was love at first sight!” she gushed. “Wow, who is this where is my best friend cause this ain’t her!” Millie laughed.

“Women,” he says with a sigh. Always so stubborn. He shakes his head. As a newer agent, he might've argued longer, might've threatened legal action. But he's done this enough times to know how it's going to end. Any time spent chasing the same points around and around is time wasted, time that other survivors might not have. “Alright, fine. You lead the way, and I’ll keep you safe. But you have to stay close to me at all times, and you have to do exactly as I say. That sound like a deal to you?”

She nods eagerly, all traces of her earlier terror now replaced with hopeful vigor. It sends a pang to his heart. If she knew what she was in for, she wouldn’t look so happy right now. “Deal.”

He extends the revolver. At first, she makes no move to take it, staring up at him with her lips slightly parted. “What? You don’t want it anymore?”

“I do,” she says quickly, holding out her hand.

“I don’t know where you got this old antique,” he says, eyes scanning over the long-discontinued model, “but you should hold onto it. Don’t try to play the hero, don’t be so trigger happy. Let me handle hostiles. This is only for emergencies.” His eyes meet hers sharply, darkening slightly. “And don’t even think about pointing it at me again.”

He places the revolver into her waiting hand and watches as she tucks it into the waistband of her skirt. Seriously, not even a holster? His eyes flicker up to meet hers once more, and she nods once. “I understand,” she says, a tinge of genuine remorse in her tone. “I’m sorry.”

He nods. Truthfully, he’s not even that mad. It’s not the first time a beautiful woman has pointed a gun at him, and somehow, he doubts it’ll be the last. That just seems to be a recurring theme in his line of work.

“Lead the way, doctor.”

The screen of your phone flashed on as your Lock Screen illuminated your face a picture of you and Satoru. Your eyes went up to the time it was 11:03 pm. Sighing, you put your phone back on your nightstand, thinking that he’s just busy being “The Strongest“ but deep inside you, you knew that wasn’t the case at all.

You knew he was out trying his “strongest” to be away from you. You knew about the other women he out was seeing. You knew he was getting tired of you and he wasn’t that good at hiding it. When he would come home he would greet you bluntly, give you a small peck on ur cheek and leave you there to go get ready to leave again and go out god knows where. Not caring to ask about your day or even a small conversation at least. Satoru’s excuse for leaving was always just a quick “Sorry, got to go something important came up it’s “work” related.” Or “I’m just gonna go out with friends. I’ll call you when I get there. He never called you.

You weren’t stupid nor, were you born yesterday he was dressed up fancy and all, like the way he used to dress when you used to go on dates at fancy restaurants. Maybe you were stupid, stupid for being so blinded by your love for Satoru. Stupid for staying with him and believing his lies. You knew he was falling out of love with you, if he hadn’t already, but you couldn’t let him go even if you tried you held on to the memories of when he used to be so in love with you.

The times where it was just you and him and he would tell you each and every thing he loved about you. When he would tell you how beautiful your insecurities were, and would kiss each one of them. A small part of you still believed he loved you or at least wanted to. You were caught up in your thoughts you jumped when the door opened you didn’t even bother to get out of bed.

About ten minutes later Satoru satoru entered your shared room. You thought about it, you were gonna tell him about how you felt, how you didn’t feel loved anymore, how you were thinking about leaving him. “Satoru.. can we talk please?” You looked up at him with sad eyes, you got up to sit on the edge of your bed. “Hm?”

He asked nonchalantly, not even turning around to look at you as he looked in the mirror. “I don’t feel like you love me anymore. I know you have been cheating on me. I know you have been lying about where you have been going. Why Satoru!? I have done nothing but loved you, is it something that I did? Is it something you don’t like about me..?”

His turned around his eyes were wide “[name]….. what..? What are you even talking about? I-I do love you? I promise baby, I promise I haven’t been cheating on you” this was the first time in a while he told you he loved you. You cursed yourself for folding, for giving in to him. “R-really do you..? Then explain everything, explain the women that you talk to on the phone when I’m sleeping. Explain the not spending any time with me anymore. Explain everything!”

You asked for answers, pleading for them. “What are you even talking about! Do you know how hard being “The strongest” is? The whole world relies on me to save it! I have a duty to do things that regular people like you dont- never will understand. Don’t question or worry about anything I do, kay?” You sat in silence looking down at your floor like a kid who just got lectured by their parents for behaving real bad.

“Being “the strongest” has a lot of responsibilities to it. Maybe there are things that he has to do that I don’t understand. What if im being selfish and only thinking about myself and not thinking from his perspective..”You thought to yourself, hundreds of questions raced through your head. It sure was funny how he was able to manipulate the whole situation and change your way of thinking with only a few sentences.

You sighed “im sorry. I should of just minded my business.. I was close-minded and didn’t even consider what you go through to protect me- protect the world please forgive me..”

He looked at you with a blank stare “Sorry I don’t want to deal with this right now I’m going to go on a walk” he changed his clothes quickly, packed some stuff, and left. He probably made a quick call to some mistress to spend the night there. You were tired, your head was pounding, confused.

Hundreds of thoughts ran through your head as you fell asleep. You swore to yourself by time he would be home, you would leave the house, leave this relationship, leave everything.
