Part 2 My Breautiful Choice

Authors note: this is not an accurate representation of stray kids but an interpretation based on an idea that stems from them.

This kinda stemmed mostly from my anxiety lol, I tend to overthink a lot, like a lot a lot. It’s a little bit based on what happened with Hyuna and Dawn. I love Chan but sometimes the way he says and does things give me so much anxiety.

We all make mistakes, that's part of human nature. Sometimes we just don’t know that we’ve made a mistake or we don’t want to think that we’ve made one at all. How were you supposed to admit that your mistake was that you fell in love with a man that had the greatest sense of responsibility you’ve ever seen? 

The thought didn’t pop into your head until recently. It started innocently enough with Changbin asking you a simple question.

“Do you think you would ever want to perform on stage again?” He asked as you were cuddled against Chan on the sofa in their dorm watching Show Music Core to support Lee Know. The second he asked the question you felt Chan physically tense up as he waited for your answer. 

“No, not really, I like being behind the scenes,” you answered honestly and Chan relaxed but you could tell that his mind was still tensed up. He barely responded to you when you tried to talk to him that night, so caught in his own head. It was at that moment that you started to wonder about everything in the relationship.

You met Chan when you were still an idol, your two groups debuted around the same time so you often saw each other around. You were from a much smaller agency and were never on the same level of popularity as Stray Kids but they always greeted you guys nicely and sometimes the two groups would chat in the downtime while waiting to go on stage. You made the music for your group and you would chat with Chan about producing. He listened to a few of your group's songs in Chan’s room as he praised your producing skills and many Stays became a fan of your group as well. You were thankful so you offered to treat him to a meal and over the meal you guys bonded over your love of music and food. It was a tiny flame of a crush that grew bigger and bigger over time. There came a point where you couldn’t imagine not hearing his voice on the phone as you both worked on songs in your individual studios. You cherished his laughter as you made a lame joke, the way he smiled softly when you face timed him to complain about writer's block, the way that he would send you a “fighting” paired with a wolf emoji before you would go on stage. You really liked him and hoped that he felt the same.

 After two years of pining for him and holding in your feelings, you finally confessed. You were over the moon when he said he felt the same. It was a dream come true and even though there wasn’t much that changed between the two of you, it felt wonderful to be able to call him your boyfriend…to a very select few people of course. The two of you kept the info to only his and your members. His dating ban was up but it wasn’t wisest to be dating openly as an idol and your company didn’t have a ban but your CEO did have a weird fixation on how “pure” the girls were supposed to be. A fact you learned the hard way when a photo of you and Chan hugging backstage leaked. The two of you should have been more careful but your group had won your first major award and you just couldn’t keep it in. 

Your company immediately terminated your contract for ‘immoral conduct’ and you were kicked out of your group without even a chance to defend yourself. Compared to you, Chan got a light scolding for being so careless in a public place and some angry comments from fans that faded away after Stays mass reported a few accounts. You literally went from the top of the world to rock bottom and you couldn’t even talk to Chan for a few days as all you did was cry. Why were you being punished for being in love? When you finally felt stable enough to see Chan again, he held you close as if he was scared that you would just drift away. 

“No matter what happens, I will always be here for you,” he said as he cradled your head against his chest. “I will always be by your side loving you.” 

It was a promise he kept as you started working as a full-time producer instead of an idol. It let you keep working with music while also giving you a schedule that let you be around Chan more often. He really barely let you leave his side as he whined and aegyoed his way into getting you to join them on their hectic tours. You would work in the hotel room while they rehearsed, watch them on stage, and then go back to the hotel to cuddle with your tired yet somehow energetic boyfriend. The boys were used to you being around and Stays even made a game where they tried to spot you in the back of SKZ talker videos. You were happy in your current situation, happier than you thought you would ever be but then the doubt crept in.

It started with the question Changbin asked and then you caught Chan watching an old fancam of you at a music show. You came to their dorm after a meeting and saw Chan watching the fancam on his TV as you quietly pushed open the door to his room in hopes of surprising him. He didn’t notice you come in and you stared at the complicated expression on his face. You didn’t know that he watched your old fancams and you couldn’t imagine why he did. You probably should have talked to him about it but instead, you backed away, closed the door, and sent him a text that you were about to enter their dorm. You pushed open the door 5 minutes later to see Chan smile up at you as the tv only displayed his computer background.

You couldn't help but overthink about the things you noticed and then you combined that with your understanding of your boyfriend. He was sweet, caring, warm, hardworking, and responsible. Almost too responsible, never breaking his promise of doing Chan’s room weekly even if he was dead tired or busy. The more you dwelled upon it the more it festered in your brain. Bangchan never broke a promise, even if that promise didn’t make him happy. How many times did you watch him work himself to death or suffer because of a promise he made? The late nights helping the boys with their music when he should have been sleeping. How many times did you notice him feel responsible for something that was out of his control? The way he cried in your arms about Hyunjin having to take a hiatus. Each promise was a weight on his shoulder and you had unknowingly been adding to that.

The words that reassured you when you were at your lowest chained him to you. Did he want that or did he just feel responsible for the aftermath? The easiest thing you could do was just ask him but… how could you? You mulled over how to bring it up but every time you tried it was like your brain fried itself. How were you supposed to ask him if he actually wanted to be with you or if he just felt responsible to have to keep being with you? You thought back to every little argument between the two of you, every instance where you might have gotten on his nerve, every time he took you on a date instead of resting like he needed because he promised to take you out. 

The final straw was when you were out with the boys at a bar. They were having a bit of a drink and celebrating before they started preparing for the next album. Most of the boys were tipsy while you had chosen to remain pretty sober in case you spilled the thoughts that had been plaguing your mind all these days.

“Hyung do you think you and noona will get married someday?” Hyunjin asked with a giggle while the other boys cooed in anticipation of Chan’s answer. How they got to this topic, you had no idea.

“Of courseeee I promised I would always be by their side!” Chan answered, the alcohol making him bolder in front of the boys than usual. He gave you a kiss and he was so tipsy that he didn’t notice how you had both your hands clenched tight. He would marry you because he promised you, not because he loved you.

That night you made a decision. While he slept the alcohol off in bed, you packed everything of yours up from his dorm. Running away was easier than having to sit him down and have him tell you directly that your worst fears were confirmed. You knew that you couldn’t leave him with no explanation though, knowing him, he would panic and think that he did something wrong to make you leave. He didn’t, you just finally woke up from your perfect fantasy. You left him a simple note before you took your suitcase and left their dorm.

I love you so much Chan, but I realized that I’ve been chaining you down this whole time. Don’t worry about the promises you made to me anymore, I just want you to be happy now. Goodbye Chan.

5. Currently reading: Just this minute finished ‘Eversion’ by Alastair Reynolds for my book group, and I’m going right back to restart it because damn. That’s some gothic sci fi with time loops and themes about the goodness of humanity in unexpected places, right there.

6. Currently watching: S4 Lower Decks as it releases - a total joy, as ever. Foundation (on Apple TV) - I loved last season but I’m struggling through the current one, but might as well finish now. And rewatching X-Files along with a podcast, which is fun.

7. Currently consuming: A slice of the bread my nieces baked and sent to me via my mother, who visited them first and then me yesterday. It’s good. (Maybe I was meant to interpret this question as media, but I did not)

8. Currently craving: Sugar. Dysautonomia is not getting along well with it. But I could murder some chocolate

I stand by these still I think. Specifically I like him compared with 2012 Mikey bc although their personalities and overall energies are pretty different, they both have pretty similar sass capacities and I like the fact that both of them, despite their very cheery demeanor, are extremely skilled at what they do and are incredibly capable.

25. I’ve joked about this being my first impression of him multiple times and I was not exaggerating in the slightest I HAVE RECEIPTS. LITERALLY A LIVETWEET OF MY FIRST SHOGUN STEEL VIEWING.

initially he was my #2 shogun steel fav behind Shinobu. we all know how that went. unfortunately I am obsessed with him I love him more than life itself still and I will defend him with my dying breath. He’s so silly and cute and fun and multifaceted and interesting and his dynamic with Sakyo is just so good and I love him so much.

this is a good test for how well I’m able to separate explicit canon and what I’ve interpreted in my head from it. His bond with takanosuke is obviously like my #1 fav and how he develops to eventually not only see takanosuke as an equal, but openly support him and grow alongside him and seeing the fruits of that in their battle with yoshio, where not only does Sakyo immediately come to Takanosuke’s defense when Yoshio insults him, but openly expresses the strength of bonds that goes into synchrome and the importance of growing alongside others, which is really just like the perfect way to wrap up his character arc and it means so much to me.

Besides that, the whole thing that triggered my current insanity about him in the first place was the implications of some of the things he says regarding the antagonistic role he plays, saying it’s the destiny of the person who inherits dragoon, and how that sense of obligation and succession contrasts with when he steps in to fight Genjuro during the nbb qualifier match and his sense of honor and respect towards beyblade as a whole, implying a deeper layer to his personality that goes beyond just causing problems on purpose.

I wonder how the guys are and what they’re doing right now. I wonder if they’re awake right now. What time is it in Mexico? And New York?

Jimin is lying in bed, sprawled over a pile of laundry he’s yet to put away, and his comforter snakes around his leg, but he doesn’t budge. The clock beside him is glowing a bright red, flickering a slow announcement that it’s nearing 3 in the morning. Groaning, he flips over, facing a pile of clothes that taunt him. Uncaring who he might wake, he shouts, kicking his sheets and thrashing his arms above his head in a full tantrum. Moments later, a thumping overhead breaks the silence, and someone calls back: “Shut up!”

Out of breath, Jimin wills himself to sit still and, face down on his pillow, begins to weep. It’d been a long time since the last time he’s felt this lonely and even longer since the last time he was home without the members. Where is everyone? Why don’t they call?

As if reading his thoughts, the sound of his phone compels him to look up from the tear-soaked pillow. The dark room is briefly illuminated as the quiet pinging of several messages surges through, and he’s moving so rashly that he forgets his comforter is anchoring his leg, and as he shoots up out of bed, he falls to the ground with a loud thud. He winces, rolling over in agony, his hand continuing their reach for his phone. “Siri, read my messages.”

He sits up, leaning against the bedpost, rubbing a sore leg vibrating in pain.

Siri: “You have five new messages from Kim Taehyung. Kim Taehyung said: Hi Jimin-sii, you’re probably asleep, but I just got back from Mexico and have some snacks… Oh Jimin, do you want me to bring you banana milk?… Jimin, I don’t want to bother Namjoonie, so I am coming over…I miss you, Jimin! Heart emoji, happy face emoji, purple heart emoji, peace sign emoji…I’m five minutes away and just coming in, OK…Would you like to respond?”

Jimin grows teary-eyed as his lips tug into a big grin. Shaky hands begin to detangle his leg from the comforter when he hears the front door unlock and the muffled shuffling of his friend entering with plastic bags.

“Jimin-ssi!” Taehyung’s voice calls. Jimin can hear the smile in his voice.

“Ah, Taehyung! Come help me!” He’s laughing at the sound of his upstairs neighbor protesting once more.

He can hear Taehyung shuffling toward his room, his slides skidding across the floor as he opens the door and peers in. Illuminated by the light from the open door, Jimin sees the familiar boxy smile invade Taehyung’s face. Without asking, he walks over, kneels, and assists in the disentanglement.

“You fell?” He’s laughing in the dark, his long fingers quick and effortless in freeing Jimin’s leg. “I brought you banana milk; want me to bring it in? Let me sleep here.”

“Ah, Taehyung,” Jimin says quietly. In the darkness, he wipes at his eyes, but his voice's quiver alerts his friend. “You can always sleep here.”

“Are you crying, Jimin?” Taehyung's voice softens, and after a brief moment of quiet rustling, the bedside lamp flicks on. “Oh, Jimin…”

Jimin looks away, abashed. Wiping his nose on his sleeve, he chuckles at himself. “I was in one of those moods,” he explains, sniveling. “I just felt like everyone was gone for so long, and I don’t want to think negatively, but I couldn’t sleep and kept wondering what you all were doing, and I felt so lame.”

“I brought you something from the beach,” Taehyung says, smiling.

“Bitch?” Jimin replies, laughing.

“Beach.” They both look at each other, laughing, shaking their heads. Taehyung slides on the bed face down, crawls toward Jimin and is face level when he says: “You’re not lame, Jimin. I always think about you guys, even when I don’t text. I could text more. I got those feelings when I was flying out; I felt so weird being without you guys. Come to bed so I can hold you.” He pats the spot next to him enthusiastically, and Jimin obliges with a shy smile.

The two slip under the blankets and Taehyung sprawls his right arm across the pillows for Jimin to rest on. “Tell me about Mexico,” Jimin says, his eyes beginning to close.

“I’ll tell you all about it, and if you fall asleep, I will tell you again tomorrow.” And Taehyung clears his throat for dramatic effect as he begins his recounting. Jimin is asleep, curled into Taehyung, and he doesn't hear him, but Taehyung interjects his story to wish Jimin goodnight and, quietly kissing his friend’s soft hair, adds: “I missed you.”

Someone asked Tae what to do and Tae responded “Jungkookie loves you / Jungkook, I love you.” Weverse has it as the latter,  “Jungkook, I love you”, as does Google, while some accounts have translated it as the former. Keep in mind, Korean (like Japanese) doesn’t typically use pronouns, which means things can be ambiguous and context is critical. 

I’ve mentioned this Japanese example before about going to the store but as a memory refresher - let’s say you’re going to the store. Whether you go with a friend or alone, Japanese speakers typically don’t elaborate “I am going” or “we are going.” Context is key. They’d typically just say “お店に行ます (or 店に 行くif speaking casually) 

お店 - Omise = store (polite)

店 - mise = store (casual)

に ni particle marker

行く- iku = to go verb (casual)

行きます - ikimasu = to go verb (polite)

お店に行きます(entire sentence polite)

店に行く (entire sentence casual)

This literally could be translated as “store going” but the context is understood to fill in the missing pieces - “we’re going to the store” or “I’m going to the store.” Korean is the same, from what I’ve been told. 

According to a friend, 너 can mean “you”, so while some accounts are translating it as “Jungkookie loves you” it honestly could be interpreted the other way as well - Jungkook, I love you. Both would be right. 

No matter which way you choose to read it, the intent is still the same. Then add that cute blush emoji 😭

(Side note - The fact that BH was quick to “correct” this translation when 1) they are not prone to correcting them. We know how wonky Weverse translations can get 2) the use of slang - luvs u, instead of it saying love you / loves you as it originally did, 3) we all knew his response was ambiguous - Jungkook, I love you OR Jungkookie loves you because of context / pronouns in Asian languages but they had to hurry to adjust this text to say the latter anyway … speaks volumes). It’s also interesting at least half the accounts he interacted with are no longer viewable / clickable. One even asked on IG why the account is now locked.

I love the energy and all and I don’t want to offend but as a Muslim girl i can tell you that it is literally haram to identify as anything other than your god given gender. Like I’m not trying to be rude and I’m glad that there a respectful supportive people out there but if you’re looking at the Quran and other islamic book you’ll find stories about how its considered haram. Accepting the islam religion means accepting everything and dedicating yourself to it you can’t just pick and choose.

I would be interested to know what other Islamic books ur talking about btw, but I'm pretty sure the quran doesn't mention being trans anywhere at all. in fact I'm pretty certain, I've read it multiple times with translation and commentary interpretations and anyway being trans wasn't really a 'known' thing back then? bcuz obviously patriarchy and gender roles n segregation blah blah was wayyyy more yk. shit I forgot the word. uhhh yk like prevalent?? ofc the quran does mention a shitton about gender roles,, so yk men r the breadwinners, women raise the kids and keep house and be good wives etc. and also remember the big important fact:: GENDER AND SEX R DIFFERENT THINGS!!! meaning technically u cant be 'born' a gender (omfg my keyboard hates me imagine a question mark here) ur born with certain genitals and society assigns u a gender based on that . sounds a bit fucked when u put it like that actually but anyway back when the quran was being revealed this wasn't a known thing cuz yk they didn't have studies on this stuff,, and yea ur probably gonna say 'but the quran came from allah and he knows everything' well the fact of the matter is he either forgot or smth idk I don't speak for God but trans people definitely exist that's a fact we know so yeah. oh I should come back to my point which was, even with the quran saying those things about what ur supposed to do based on whats in ur pants which is crazy outdated anyway it doesn't take gender ≠ sex into consideration either soo ye that's the most it could've said about being trans and that not very valid anymore rip and that's not even mentioning non-binary people

and anyway Islam is literally all about acceptance and respect and everything so idk it would probably be better if u didn't go around telling ppl they're 'literally haram' for being trans or gay or any typa queer bcuz its literally not our choice (insert question marks) believe me I would fucking love to be comfortable in my 'female' body but I cant no matter how much I try to force myself so I'm sorry dude. no one would choose to be stuck in a situation like this. personally, I believe Islam needs a super massive reformation. well not Islam exactly, but a lot of things said in the quran r outdated wildly now, while a lot of it will also always be relevant, eg. everyone being equal and yk give to the poor etc. i have absolutely nothing against Muslims (I have it against my family for being so forceful about religion - different thing) yall r super cool and ik being a Muslim girl isn't easy believe me, but genuinely seeing Muslim people around and yk, just existing in wider society outside of Islamic spaces makes me feel so proud of where I came from even if its not been the best experience. have u seen the show We are Lady Parts (question mark) its about an all female Muslim punk band and there's only six episodes I literally watched it all today but the message of it is what I'm trying to get to you. u don't have to be the perfect pious wife to be considered a 'good Muslim',, there are so many ways u can show faith. you don't have to be a big strong man who can handle all pain with ease while single-handedly providing for a family either.

I’ll be taking questions for that one hour period (I’ll announce when I’m done), but then I’ll answer them over the next day or two depending on how many I get. Last time it was amazing how many questions came in, but it was too much to try and answer them all in one night. I was drained by the end.

2) Submissions can absolutely be on anon BUT I will need your name (or your nickname), your date of birth, and a tidbit about yourself. Something unique. So, I read the Spanish article about Pato that ESPN wrote and I thought to myself, wow this guy really makes me feel some kind of way. Pato said that right now his mind is in IndyCar and that if one day something were to come from F1, it will come and in that moment he will invest his energy in it, but he recognizes that if there was a chance to do an FP1 in a GP he would love for it to be Mexico as his first option, then Austin.

Ohhh boy. I’m not sure how to interpret that question.

Plotting-wise? From first draft to final? Killing-off-wise? But do characters count if they appear later in the story? Or ones that were added further in? I DON’T KNOW. Like, can I really say it starts off with 2, because in chapter 1 there’s only Caldyn and Gawyn? Seems weird.

The novel version always had a pretty small cast. From the first draft, Breannan became a much more prominent char, and I added a bunch of humans, and Lily was the latest addition with main char status. For the Tumblr version, it’s still growing! Just last week I added a new friend for Lily :D More blorbos for the blorbo collection.

So why it basically started off with 2,5 (Breannan used to be a canon char, and I don’t enjoy taking over them), is now at least 10 and growing.

Killing-off-wise, I don’t do that. Only killing bad guys, and namely so far only Gawyn and (in the future) Firethorn. Yes, Craig’s still alive, why do you ask?

i had account before with the username kpopenvisions both on twitter and tumblr. with this account though, i won’t be focused to k-pop only. i will do readings for celebrities from all across the world, including local ones, as well as anything politics themed. atm, i do have astrology account on tumblr (here).

before deleting everything, i did guess some things, like 2 members leaving treasure, mingi’s time frame returning to ateez (he was on hiatus at some point), the scandal about kim garam (at that time though, i did readings on nako from iz*one/hkt48, i thought it was about her though) and some other minor predictions and readings, like rosé’s solo debut amount of track songs and sakura signing with big company, in this case a subsidiary of hybe, source music.

2. If you could eat a meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? If I could eat a meal for the rest of my life (I’m giving myself an ‘entrėe’ and dessert) I would eat a sandwich as the main course, and an apple pie with ice cream as a dessert. I feel like sandwiches are so versatile (and this might be cheating if I switched the sandwich contents throughout my life, but even if I couldn’t, I could eat certain parts of it depending on what I was feeling that day to kind of vary things). And I love apple pie/flaky pastry-like desserts. 

3. What do you think is the NUMBER ONE most important thing in a relationship or friendship? I think the number one most important thing in a relationship or friendship is effort. Even if you do not see each other a lot, making an effort to send them posts/memes, FaceTime, text, etc., reminds them you are thinking of them, and can really create a relationship that can last for a long time. And I think in many cases, if you put in effort into relationships, you are able to make a lot of things work. 

4. What is the best advice someone has given to you? Describe the situation if possible. I think the best advice someone has given me is to ‘enjoy the ride’ because sometimes I get too focused on stressful things happening in my future that I do not take the time to really enjoy and savor the things I am doing in the moment. 

5. What are three things on your bucket list? Three things on my bucket list are 1) seeing the Northern Lights, 2) baking croissants myself from scratch, and 3) being rich. 

6. If you were famous, what would you want to be famous for? If I were famous, I would want to be famous for some kind of innovation or invention that improved the quality of life somehow. I think it would feel good to be recognized intellectually, and for something that served people in some way. And it would also relieve the pressure of having some kind of image, because although people associate me with this innovation, they don’t really have expectations for me as a person as much. 

7. If you could swap lives with someone for a day, who would it be and why? If I could swap lives with someone for a day, I would swap lives with Gordon Ramsey’s daughter. I would probably eat so good. Not to mention I would be rich, and I would be able to ‘speak’ in a British accent, even if for a single day. 

8. If you could create a whole new subject to be taught in school, what would it be? If I were to introduce a ‘new’ subject in school it would be Social Media Sociology (this honestly might be a class in some school somewhere idk so not sure if this is considered ‘creating’) but I love learning about how different people perceive minute interactions on social media differently. E.g. how people come to see different emojis to have different meanings, and how people respond to or interpret various text messages. 

9. What do people constantly misunderstand about you? I think people might think that I seem uninterested in them sometimes and I worry that people see me as ‘dry’? I think I wish that people knew I want to know everything about everyone haha (although I suppose it’s harder to talk about myself) and I really like learning random things about other people, it’s just hard for me to approach others sometimes. 

10. What is something you regret doing or not doing? Would you change it if given the opportunity? Why or why not? In general, I feel like I am someone who holds back rather than someone who takes risks. This approach can sometimes minimize losses and embarrassments, but I definitely feel that I’ve missed out on a lot of fun and/or beneficial things because I am too scared to do things. Before college, I never went out of my way to do clubs that were just random and fun, and I do regret not going out of my comfort zone more in the past. Even now, I am a bit shyer than I would like to be, but I do more things spontaneously and on a whim than I have ever done in the past (e.g. joining this fraternity would never have been something past me would have done, and yet here I am). I think I would do more embarrassing things if I had the chance to go back, because at least in my mind, I rarely remember embarrassing things other people have done. And I wonder what my life would have been like if I had chosen a completely different path. But another regret that is a part of ‘staying safe’ is that I tend to bend to other people’s wishes and it was hard for me to stand up for myself. I think that is a struggle a lot of other people also face, and I hope more of us are able to state their needs and issues in the future, because I think that’s really important to creating long-lasting relationships and impactful groups. I know this wasn’t very specific, but I felt like it was an overarching theme throughout my life that I wish I could have changed and I hope to continue changing in the next coming years.

But while I say this, one cannot deny that people’s perceptions leak through in their interpretations depending on what top/bottom dynamic they enjoy in a ship.

Even if the content is not explicit, it is good to tag your content with the dynamic you prefer instead of tagging both, so your work will be easier to find by like minded people. Do not go into someone's post where they clearly tag an A/B dynamic and call it the B/A ship name: it is rude. A “Fixed Shipper” is someone who does not want their couple to be versatile or be reversed. A “Fixed Couple” is referred to a couple that does not switch positions— their positions are fixed / not versatile. The opposite is called a “Reversible Shipper” who likes a “Versatile/Reversible Couple”.

And now the question is: How would you show this?

If you are someone who does not mind switching, and you enjoy and eat ALL VARIATIONS OF IT, you repeat one of the names. Example: DMHPDM or HPDMHP in your bio. Usually shippers say ⬆️HP⬇️DM or ⬆️DM⬇️HP, but to show you like both you’d have DMHPDM in bio. Or if you use emojis, 🍏⚡️🍏 . This gets across that you like everything. Usually you will see in bios “I eat everything” or “not fixed” / “omnivorous” to indicate they like versatile all day everyday, don’t care for it or at least don’t have a preference. An example account of this is @yammyyml on twitter in the Genshin fandom. They have a very reversible ship (Wriothesley & Neuvillette) & the emojis (that represent the characters) in their name repeat, because Genshin fandom typically use emoji. But for art they post it depends, and so they use the tag they feel best fits what they want their art to be interpreted as. Sometimes their works are Neuvithesley, & some are Wriolette. Another account is an author I enjoy, who posts for a less popular dynamic & tags appropriately, while also being a very reversible shipper (see their bio). They don’t tag both variations on a single post— that would be called Double Tagging (more on that later).

And for if you mainly have one specific preference, but sometimes you’re ok with the reverse, but not so much to the point you eat everything from it: typically people will put a fixed ship name and then say “reversible ok” after in their bio.

Example: Instead of DMHPDM (aka versatile all day every day drarry)

You can do DMHP 🔄🆗 (shows you have a main preference ⬆️🍏⬇️⚡️ and typically only want that, but you’re also “Okay” with reverse). The “Okay” ranges from everyone. But from what I’ve seen, typically people usually create with one side tagged and post for it only.

Like they post DMHP & everything they create is DMHP artwork, tagged as DMHP only. But because their Bio says “🔄🆗” they might rt reverse, or interact with reverse content, but not necessarily create it themselves. Sometimes they do, but it’s rare.

If they did it regularly they’d usually do the repeat a name thing.

So— do you mainly like Everyone x Bottom Harry but are Ok with some pairings where he tops? Your bio would be AllHP 🔄🆗 / All⚡️ 🔄🆗. Or what if you only like Top Harry x Everyone? Your bio would be HPAll / ⚡️All. You don’t care? Your Bio would be AllHPAll / All⚡️All. It’s the same for any character— you like Draco topping everyone? Then DMall / 🍏all. Etc, etc…

Double Tagging is something common in western fandom, where they put two opposing tags together. Example: tagging a post as “DMHP” AND “HPDM”. Why is this a problem? Those are both FIXED tags. DMHP is the tag for Top Draco and Bottom Harry Only, and HPDM is for Top Harry & Bottom Draco Only. People who only like DMHP will see HPDM in their fixed tag when it’s not supposed to be there, and the same goes for people who like the opposite. This is rude and heavily discouraged, since those tags are for the shipping dynamics that don’t include reverse; it is considered mistagging. If you like reversible / don’t mind t/b dynamics at all, you do as stated earlier with repeating a name. (DMHPDM, Sasunarusasu, kaeluckae, etc.). Apologies if this section is confusing; hopefully my thoughts in this tweet to another person should also explain a little better. Moving on:

Saying you like TMRHP (fixed Top!TMR x Bottom!HP ship name), when you actually prefer Top!HP / Bottom!TMR, is seen as being deceitful since you are misusing tags. Just say HPTMR (only like Top Harry x Bottom Tom) or TMRHPTMR (you like everything) or HPTMR 🔄🆗 (prefer Top Harry x Bottom Tom, but you don’t mind reverse). You may also use emojis (⚡️🐍) as well. Keep in mind that that for Harry Potter fandom this is only for Abbreviated Initials usage & not the “umbrella term” like drarry or tomarry, as stated earlier.

Anyway: Do not use a fixed ship name because it’s “popular” like tagging something as bakudeku (bakugou x deku from MHA) when all your nsfw and your preferred dynamic is dekubaku. A lot of Eastern side fans prefer not to interact with Western side because of all the mistagging and differences in shipping culture, especially since a lot of people view it as “dumb” and, for some reason, “homophobic” & non existent (IRL people have strict t/b preferences too), when it is all just for ease of filtering / finding things easier.

And for the reversible shippers: how does this help? Speaking as someone who also enjoys reversible pairings & versatile favorite characters (though none in Harry Potter) there are times when I may be in the mood for one dynamic over the other. This especially helps if the one you like might be less popular— you can go into the other fixed tag for more of that less popular dynamic. The reversible accounts I shared as examples are also able to garner fans of the less popular dynamic & still enjoy both, tagged properly as well.

amphora emoji ratings

apple amphora emoji: this is the platonic ideal of an amphora. a perfectly crafted vase, curved arms, and the archetypal greek amphora wave pattern. it’s shaded a bit more than i would prefer for an emoji, but considering how well they did with everything else, that’s negligible. i don’t like apple, but at least they did one thing right. 10/10

google amphora emoji: a different yet equally pleasant amphora emoji. the body is a different shape, but i appreciate it and the way the arms band together across the neck. the shading is more stylized and the pattern is once again spot on. i really enjoy this one.10/10

samsung amphora emoji: this emoji is stouter than i would expect. it feels like discount version of the apple emoji. i don’t know what, but something is off. 6/10

microsoft amphora emoji: this emoji does the job. the outline is far too thick, but i think that’s just how microsoft emojis are. overall, the amphora is the right shape and design, although the color is a bit unusual. 7/10

whatsapp amphora emoji: whatsapp has done a historically bad job with their emojis, and this is no exception. the neck is far too long and thin, making me think of more of a big old bottle of wine rather than a greek vase. the pattern is off too. i think it’s a wave, but the shading and the size of it make it hard for me to tell. 2/10

twitter amphora emoji: this isn’t the best amphora emoji out there, but i have a soft spot for it, as this is also the discord amphora emoji, and that’s where i discovered it. a lot of work could be done here -- the arms are a weird shape, the pattern is lazy, and the whole thing could use more artistic skill -- but it gets the point across. and i like using :amphora:. 7/10

facebook amphora emoji: this is... interesting. it’s the wrong color entirely, first of all, and comes off to me as a strange mixture of the apple and google emojis. it’s got the right shape and pattern, but i don’t really like it. too bland. 5/10

skype amphora emoji: it works. the arms are shaped a little weirdly, but i like the body and the pattern, and i like the way they’ve stylized it. it’s the wrong color, but it’s charming. 7/10

joypixels amphora emoji: i have never heard of joypixels, and fittingly, i have never seen this kind of amphora emoji. they went for a daring new pattern on the body, and while i appreciate that they somewhat kept the old one around the bottom, it doesn’t really say “greek vase” to me. also the neck looks weird. 5/10

openmoji amphora emoji: this guy is pathetic. it looks like a bee with one stripe. wrong color. weird interpretation of the pattern. i don’t like the style. 4/10

emojidex amphora emoji: what the fuck is this. this is not an amphora. this is a regular vase that some chucklefuck decided was close enough to put down as an amphora emoji and thought no one would notice. well, i noticed! it’s the wrong shape, wrong color, wrong design. a deplorable attempt at an amphora emoji. 0/10
