This is a very special fic in my opinion. It’s funny and heartfelt and perfectly in character. It’s about self love and self acceptance and eating a lot of rotisserie chicken. I love it very much.

Next we have Proper Hydration by the amazing @knotwerk ! (24k words, E rated)

This fic asks ‘what if they kissed at the IV boutique’ and the answer is fast burn deliciousness with some musings on the absurdity of life. Just beautiful. And it’s a series! Yay!

Meet-cute at a glory hole anyone? It’s cute, I promise, very hole-some (sorry I couldn’t resist) A light smattering of angst along the way but ultimately a very feel good fic.

I legit didn't sleep for the entire night bcs i can't stop reading it's just that GOOD. The quality and lenght of this series are amazing. House of Prince Theo is the base of my fanon Theo. Smart, Observant, Loyal and utterly Scary. Theo who's very devoted with  his traditions. Theo who wield KNIFES. And it doesn't need to be said but Harry is also amazing in this one. He's stubborn, strong, and utterly loyal. Not Dumbledore or Sirius friendly though so i do warn you if you like both of them.

We have too much fluff therefore i need to recommend some angst. It's a bleak world for Harry without Theo there.

Let's go back in time, Lovelies, to 2012. I had just mainlined The Hunger Games series for the first time (and the second, then the third) and had never read a fanfic. I barely knew what they were.

So I read my first fic. My First Date with Katniss Everdeen

It was unputdownable. (Is that a word? It should be a word.)

Anyway, I remember reading Mockingjay and being struck by the gap between when Katniss goes back to 12 and when Peeta returns. Where was Peeta? WHERE WAS HE? I became a bit obsessed.

Moving On was born. It's a short 33K fic that attempts to answer this question. Told from Peeta's point of view, the goal was to get the reader up close and personal with the action in the Capitol.

The Blurb: What happens to Peeta while Katniss is awaiting trial at the end of Mockingjay? How does he put himself back together? How does he end up back in District 12? Takes place before the Epilogue. Rating is T. May move to M due to some hijacking memories.

Almost immediately after finishing that, I started writing another. Building the Dream was meant to be my own sort of Empire Strikes Back. It's told in third person and it actually covers some of the same events of Moving On.

They were in-universe, canon. At the time that's what I loved to read.

There's no sex. (more on sex scenes much, much later.)

Both of these are *character first*. That's how I write all of my stuff and it's translated into my originals as well. I want to write characters that I want to read.

I loved Building the Dream because it really helped me develop an older love interest. Also, I'm especially proud of a few of the battle scenes.

What was hard:

I don't read a lot of political stuff, so the politics was hard. I remember talking to @randomnoteforfuturereference for hours over some of the things he thought would happen as a result of the events of Mockingjay.

It's meant to be a trilogy. I never wrote the third installment and that really bothers me.

I don't know why I never put either of these on AO3. I remember getting roasted horribly for a canon description mistake in Moving On, pulling it, correcting it, and then like, curling up and sucking my thumb for days. Clearly, that affected me.

One more thing. I'm pretty sure the third chapter of Building the Dream was right around the time I read Hotel Paper the first time.

It haunted me. Gutted me. I still think about it.

If you haven't read it, you should. Seriously. But be prepared to cry and need some tissues.

For the Proud Author Spotlight! Hi, how have you been? I'm writing a fanfic and since it took me no shorter than 7 months to update it I just wanted a little boost so people will know it was not abandoned.

As for what I think people would like: It's not very Jiang family friendly since WWX's leaves them pretty early so no golden core transfer. One can say it's a fanfic about finding your place and fighting for it.

Unlocked by @festiveferret (T, 15k, gentlebeard)! this is such a sweet little modern au fic. stede's key isn't opening his apartment door and he's getting more and more annoyed until-- oops! this isn't his apartment at all! it belongs to a handsome stranger! who's also an old rock star! such a feel-good fic and broken into 5 chapters so it's so easy to read.

Birthdays to Remember by Strangecandies (M, 7.5k, gentlebeard)! this is a fucked up toxic take on gentlebeard and I love it. perhaps not for everyone, but I love the dark and twisted childhood ~friends?~ to lovers they wrote here.

People are People by Shalamarr (E, 33k, gentlebeard)! I love all of Shalamarr's work, and her first fic is absolutely included. a fluffy modern love story that takes a dramatic turn in the second half.

Good Omens Fanfic Friday (24 May 2024)

This week was an absolute treasure trove of amazing stories.

The Heart of the Forest (33K; Rated E)

Fairy Tale AU. This was so very sweet and fluffy with a blink-and-you'll-miss-it bit of angst.

Retired librarian Aziraphale moves into a small, isolated cottage deep in the forest with a strange history. He soon realises he's not alone in the woods; a presence watches him. But as he begins to befriend the stranger that lurks in the trees, Aziraphale comes to understand there's more to him than appearances suggest - and Aziraphale's own destiny may be tied to the mysterious creature with the golden eyes.

Clandestine Affairs (27K; Rated M)

Set in the 19th century, Aziraphale is tasked with getting his hands on The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. Heaven informs him that Hell has assigned an agent of their own, and to be on the lookout for the demon. Of course, Aziraphale can always spot a demon, though it would be easier to look if he wasn't so distracted by his attraction to his new red-haired valet.

As someone nearing the end of my own "they never met" AU, this one hit all the right notes. Immediate attraction. A touch of humor. Great action.

Buried Treasure (66K; Rated E) by @ineffable-toreshi

Human(ish) AU. A just-completed new one from IneffableToreshi. Aziraphale, an archaeologist, discovers a creature beneath his latest dig site that shouldn't exist. As he works to uncover the mystery, he finds himself falling deeper and deeper in love with the strange being. The ending to this one will probably surprise you.

Aziraphale Fell and his small team are working hard to uncover a mystery that has been discovered deep in the desert in a region with no known history of habitation...

...and they are having very little luck coming up with anything other than stone brick upon stone brick.

But as their sponsorships are dwindling and Aziraphale's hopes for the project are beginning to well and truly die, he literally falls right into the site's secret, and discovers something much, much more important than he could have ever imagined.

Meeting Hell Halfway (50K; Rated E)

Human AU/Aziraphale POV. Aziraphale has been tapped to lead the merger between Eden and Harvery-Edwards-Lincoln. He didn't anticipate having to endure the absolutely infuriating HEL lawyer, even if the man was devastatingly handsome. While it's not one of the angstiest stories I've ever read, Aziraphale has some rather serious problems to work through.

This Ghost Was Not On My Lease! (2.8K; Rated T)

Human AU. Crowley discovers his new flat is being haunted by the ghost of the bookseller who used to live there. This is a very light ghost story. Don't worry about this being one of those sad ones that leave you feeling torn apart at the end (looking at you, "in the house we remain"); it's zero angst. (The relationship tag says Aziraphale/Crowley, but it's really more of an Aziraphale & Crowley story).
