I’ve had time to think about it and I need to
Speculate
About kh again because of the KHUx finale
I’m sorry I’m on mobile and there doesn’t seem to be a trick to adding a line break so I’ll do my best to make this brief
1. Holy shit the Masters motivations
Tumblr media
This is what I’ve been waiting for. To have any idea why he’s been doing what he’s doing. Yes, there is a decent chance he is lying but if he isn’t then holy shit that’s dark. Hell even if he’s lying it’s dark. From what I understand he needs the hearts of his apprentices and himself to trap the 7 strongest original darknesses and 6 people for the weaker ones. Then he plans to ??? Kill them all? From what I understand. He says it’s not about sacrifice but idk how else to take that other then as sacrifice. And he only told Luxu this to ensure Luxu would betray him in the end like this asshole is so damn manipulative
But more importantly is that this proves even if he has ‘good intentions’ he’s the villain. He’s planned this all to kill 13 darknesses, and it’s lead to every bad thing that happened to Sora and co. Not to mention the thousands of dead keyblade wielders from the war.
2. The thirteen darknesses
Tumblr media
We know there are 12 more of these guys who aren’t Vanitas, but Vanitas does seem to be one of them. I’m more interested in how I don’t think what Vanitas says above can possibly be true, or at least not the way he framed it. He also seemed content to return to Ventus but his current form was kind of a shit show of pain if the birth by sleep light novel is correct. Also interested if he comes back into play as the only of the 13 darknesses to seemingly be now completely separated and who had his own form for a while. I also feel that since MoMs motivations are so dark and not really for the best for anyone just kind of for revenge, we might see some of these darknesses on our side. I’m not saying for sure Vanitas redemption arc but he’s the most likely as the only darkness who we know
3. Braig might be more Okay then I originally thought
Tumblr media
I kind of expected Luxu to be absolutely wrecking lives as he went but he did seem to orchestrate Brains return in at Scala, years after Ephemer likely died of old age there. Which is already showing us that compared to MoM that luxu cares about people’s lives. So there might be hope for the original braig yet, but I’m not super counting on it.
4. Skuld, Strelitzia, Subject X, Ava and the “true dandelion”
Tumblr media
So Skuld is almost assuredly Subject X, the only thing stopping me from saying it is is that we’re not sure what Ava looks like under her mask.
My real question is who is Luxu’s real dandelion and how do they come into play? Currently it seems likely to me that it’s either Strelizia or Ava herself, but at the same time trying to figure out when he’d have time to grab them seems hard to guess. Ava he’d have to lure her from the war and knock her out, ans Strelizia he’d have to grab her heart before it faded and it seemed like he had a body in his arms. He did tell Ava the masters full plan so he might be hinging on her help.
Not to mention the chance that someone else we aren’t thinking about has the potential to be this dandelion.
5. Who the hell are you Demyx
Tumblr media
Now I’m going to say here I have a decent reason I 100% don’t think he’s the MoM but that does leave me wondering who he is and what keyblade legacy he was a part of. We know he can’t be a random survivor who escaped the data city because of what happened to everyone ( tag ur key kid im a pink meow wow). So is he from Scala? Ancient Scala? Why is he so averted to fighting? Is he traumatized? Why is he traumatized against fighting if so? It’s not like He doesn’t want to help people, he Just doesn’t want to fight to do that.
6. Is Sigurd important or nah? Why does that generation of keyblade wielders have blood born outfits? Why does that part of scala look so much more oppressive then the scala we see from Xehanort’s memories?

@khnpostskhspoilers MEEEEEEEEL! I finished Dark Road and have thoughts and questions to fire at you, but an ask is too small to contain them. So I decided to just tag you in a post. Here we go! (Spoilers below for anyone else reading)
Question 1: How can Emblem Heartless exist in DR’s time period? Apparently in the Q&A Nomura said this ties into Missing-Link’s setting, so putting a pin and red string on this one.
Question 2: I totally agree with you, how the FUCK do individual world’s timelines work??? Do they just stop when a main character isn’t there? How is Maleficent cursing Aurora both now and 65 years later? How are Jafar and Iago even alive? At least UX had the excuse of the Book projecting the future, but this doesn’t make a lick of sense. We SEE Xehanort and Eraqus age, but no one else???
Question 3: Not even a mention of Yen Sid? Was he not a Keyblade wielder at this time or is he somehow even older?
Ok this one isn’t a question, but that “Yep, walking like a carpet” line was the best joke in the entire game and I’m lowkey annoyed it was from Xehanort. “Horrible-person-to-be makes funniest joke of the week.”
Question 4: Ok real spoilers here. So Ephemer is Xehanort’s great-great-grandfather. That’s a separation of 4 generations. That’s like 150 years tops. So... the Keyblade War WASN’T thousands of years ago like we’ve thought this whole time??? Like 4 generations isn’t that long in actual years, and I don’t know how to reconcile this with how everyone else has talked about the Keyblade War like it’s ancient, near mythical, history AND Luxu’s writings about his lives “filling volumes” and “spanning ages.”
Another not-question, I wish we had seen more of Xehanort deciding to leave Scala, taking No Name, and fighting Eraqus. Like it feels disconnected from the rest of the plot. Like I guess we can mostly see how that Xehanort could become the one we know from BBS on, but I still feel like I can’t articulate how he got there. I wanted to see more stuff in the same year as the ReMind conversation with MoM. More of that Xehanort who’s starting that change.

.UNION X
Tumblr media
A phenomenon that truly bloomed during the darkest hours of the Keyblade Graveyard. To date it’s also one of the strongest abilities that Sora holds within his arsenal. By allowing his potential of the Heart to dip forth into the unknown bonds made the past, it can succeed in connecting with the present. It allows for the his strength to unite with the Elite unit of Keyblade Wielders from Daybreak Town as the Dandelions. Through this very power the Demon Tide vested with maliciously vast strength from the Realm of Darkness was successfully triumphed over.
To Sora personally? So so much of this particular ordeal is unknown. His chapter within the Keyblade Graveyard is wider scale power struggle made through past wielders, him spearheading thew change to a new future as add their might to his very wings for strength.
As for the effect of how this came to be? The very power used by the Book of Prophecies via Medals, a physical manifestation of many abilities of strength that Sora and the other Guardians carry was utilized. Due to Sora’s nature as a Heart holding the special potential to utilize the power that blooms when tapping into these very connections, and holding an affinity to allow them to be deeper than any ocean, it’s due to these medals that his personal (but unconscious) tie to the Dandelions were forged.
I’m placing my bets that it’s a mixture between Kairi guiding Sora through that ‘Ivory Zone’ in the time slip, to past activity of old Keyblade Wielders calling upon these strengths, that Ephemer to the rest of the Dandelions could connect with Sora to assist in his triumph over the tide, to Organization XIII at large.
As for what this ability pertain? Sora can call upon the Ancient Light from the past in order to further augment his ability. Coupled with that, would be the access to literally hundreds of Keyblades to assist in his endeavors whenever his strength can align a proper connection with them. Whether it’s multi-wielding, or allowing for them to become a cognizant, fighting force that rends and tears through his foes across the battlefield. Tapping into intense (and at times body heavy) pressure of that light offers a burst of power that needs to be carefully regulated.
The true scale of what he can forge for the most part remains unknown. Despite how far he’s come, this alongside the Power of Waking are some powers that he’s very inexperienced with, only coming to newly discover them at the toughest battles he’s come to face to date. With the proper training however, who can truly tell what the united might of past and present can create?
All as they bravely stand against the primordial threats that lurk within the folds of time and space itself.

Luxu's History Repeats Itself
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speculation/Theory:
Luxu's role was to past down the No Name keyblade to be succeeded over and over again until it ended up in the hands of the one who would summon Kingdom Hearts. But, part of that role was for Luxu to observe and watch over the course of the Keyblade's journey.
We see this from BBS to KH3 chronologically, where he became the right hand man of Xehanort and Xemnas to help push forward his plans to reenact the Keyblade War.
If Luxu bestows the keyblade upon "one of the five", then his first host has to either accompany them to their next worldline or be at their side consistently similar to how he does with Xehanort.
Because of this criteria, the first successor of No Name can't be Skuld, Ventus or Lauriam because they were sent forward in time, so the Master's eye couldn't record anything.
That leaves Ephemer and Brain.
Somehow Ephemer's heart is displaced and resided in the Keyblade Graveyard for who knows how long, so even if he inherited No Name, the keyblade couldn't record anything of significance and there'd be no need for Luxu to body hop.
I think Luxu will most likely bestow the No Name Keyblade to Brain. This makes the most sense given everything we know so far.
Brain is the only Union leader yet to have a "confirmed" fate as of KH3/KHUX. However, that means he's the only leader left to guide the Dandelions and keep the keyblade legacy alive.
In Dark Road and KH3, we can see No Name mounted on a crest in Master Odin's classroom. This means Brain continued the succession of the No Name Keyblade and throughout all of it's wielders till now, the Book of Prophecies was able to be born.
Brain being the new "king" of Scala ad Caelum would explain why he, Eraqus and any of his lineage are blue-bloods.
After the latest update, this would mean he has both Master Defender and No Name in his arsenal. Ironically Eraqus who's completely unlike Brain inherited his keyblade and his best friend who behaves just like Brain inherited the keyblade given to him second. In kh3 Xehanort tells Eraqus "When the world needs a defender, they'll pick you Eraqus." Eraqus received Brain's first keyblade (the first choice), while Xehanort got Brain's second keyblade.
"Speculation": If Yen-sid was referring to the Union Leaders and the Dandelions when he mentioned the "Ancient Keyblade Masters", then "crossing over to another world" might refer to them migrating into the Data-Daybreak Town.
However,
following up on the notion that Luxu has to observe Brain and No Name in one of the secret reports (Luxu states "Amidst the chaos I bequeathed my Keyblade to one of the Union leaders, just as the Master instructed. I watched as the Five were sent to another worldline-at no small cost-ensuring the line of Keyblade wielders will live on."), then Luxu would have to crossover to the Unreality/Other worldline alongside him.
Tumblr media
It seems as though the Union leaders will somehow get sucked into another datascape/worldline/Unreality. If this is the case, it's possible that Luxu actually does bequeath the keyblade to any one of the five, and then something happens, and they're forced to leave the keyblade behind for Brain to take in their stead. Luxu has to keep an eye on Brain, but if he is moving to an unknown world with possibly unknown assailants, it can't be that easy to just sit back and watch like he did originally as they were repeating the original worldline in the Datascape.
Well, we have already seen how Luxu went about observing the most recent inheritor of No Name, Master Xehanort. Luxu possessed a man by the name of Braig, becoming Xehanort's right-hand man under the guise of "a fool desirous of the keyblade". Afterwards he harbored a piece of Xehanort's heart and stuck by his side from BBS to KH3.
"Luxu's History Repeats Itself", as in Luxu casted off his original form and resided in the heart of another to watch Brain, or even better, remain at his side the same as Xehanort in the future.
Luxu will inhabit the body of Ephemer and stand with Brain within the Unreality.
The two scenarios that I can think of (can be different or sequential) :
Luxu chose to reside within Ephemer's heart silently, the same way Eraqus had done to Terra. Eraqus's light as well as his "signature chains" were able to support Terra's fight against Xehanort within himself. It is possible if Ephemer gets into a jam that Luxu could help him from within as well.
Luxu may have chosen to completely dominate Ephemer's heart and push him out, the same way Xehanort did to Terra, in order to become Terra-Xehanort. Ephemer's heart would be lost, possibly traversing to the Keyblade Graveyard. He has been watching them for a long time, so it's possible he may be able to imitate Ephemer well enough for no one to suspect anything.
The second option seems way too unlikely. The Master told Luxu he could help, but probably not to interfere and make his presence known. Also, Luxu seemed especially worried about the Dandelions, to the point where the Master compared him to "a mother hen(?)". It would seem pretty messed up (at that point) for him to straight up take Ephemer's existence like that.
I think Darkness will separate Ephemer's heart from his body, infecting it and birthing his Dark Inferno much like Ventus.
*This has been addressed already, but Ephemer and Braig share the red scarf motif and kinda similar outfits.
A better example is probably Terra again. Ephemer's heart would be the Guardian(Terra) to Luxu's Terra-Xehanort.
"The History" being referred to are the groups Luxu has been apart of:
Ephemer/Luxu = Xigbar
The Overseer
Brain = Xehanort
The Inheritance
Ventus/Darkness = Ven/Vanitas
The Harbinger of Darkness
Lauriam = Terra
RAGE AWAKENED
Skuld = Aqua
The True Successors
Strelitzia = Eraqus (?)
Felled by Darkness
(Skuld is compared to Ava & Aqua was the only student made into a master.)
*This is from like two months ago.

Concerning the first part of the final Kingdom Hearts Union χ [Cross] update:
First off, Luxu stated that there were six Darknesses that made their way into Data Daybreak Town. One of those Darknesses went back to the real world with Maleficent, another was hiding within Ventus, who many (including myself) have predicted to be Vanitas for a long time, leaving four other Darknesses.
Now, at the end of the update, we see Lauriam, Elrena, Brain, and Ventus venture back to the real world via the Lifeboats. At this time I would like to address the fact that the people we know Lauriam and Elrena to be are very different in terms of personality from Marluxia and Larxene. What if this is because they receive two of those four Darknesses? Additionally, what if the other two take over Demyx and Luxord's Somebodies? That would account for all the Darknesses and explain why they were sought out to be a part of Organization XIII and eventually the Seekers of Darkness - referring to the "ancient Keyblade legacy" Xemnas said they all possessed.
In Kingdom Hearts Union χ Dark Road, it is rather heavily suggested that Brain is Eraqus' grandfather, who fought Darkness. If this is true, it means that Brain will remain in the present while the others proceed into the future. Suspiciously though, Brain gave Ephemer Master's Defender and the Book of Prophecies, so there is potential that the whole situation concerning Brain was a red herring, but I doubt it. There is still one Lifeboat left in Data Daybreak Town so I wouldn't be surprised if Skuld uses it and delivers Master's Defender back to Brain after Data Daybreak Town is destroyed and all the Dandelions fall into sleep. I believe that, rather than Ephemer being dead, he reached out to Sora via his Dreams, and Data Daybreak Town lies within the Realm of Sleep.
So, Elrena saw Strelitzia and someone in Data Daybreak Town, and since Strelitzia's Data was stated to still exist within Data Daybreak Town, it seems likely that her return is the result of that. Another possibility is that Strelitzia as she is now is a Nobody, as her Heart was cleaved from her much in the same manner as Xehanort, Braig, Dilan, Even, Aeleus, and Ienzo. Luxu is also seen placing someone - the true Dandelion - in one of the Lifeboats. If these events are happening concurrently, then the only person that could be is Strelitzia (or whatever her Nobody is called). I would assume that Luxu brought Strelitzia back to the real Daybreak Town by crossing Worldlines, as that is something that has been established as only possible by the likes of a Keyblade Master (or probably more specifically, the ones taught under the Master of Masters).
Let's review the Lifeboats situation, shall we? In the real world - Maleficent's Lifeboat is the only one missing. If you count Ventus, Lauriam, Elrena, Skuld, and Strelitzia, that still only brings the total to six. I would assume that the seventh remains unused and becomes the Lifeboat that Xehanort places Kairi when he is looking for the Keyblade wielder years later, as Brain would have to remain if he is truly Eraqus' grandfather. If I had to guess, I would say that whoever Subject X is (I still think its Skuld and Strelitzia has another purpose) is meant to replace Ava, as Luxu did not seem surprised that Ava wasn't summoned back at the end of Kingdom Hearts III. Given all the comparisons between Skuld and Ava, I'm still led to believe that Skuld is Subect X and Strelitzia has some other purpose, potentially relating to Quadratum.
To me, it seems likely that the situation concerning the "Seven Crowns" is referring to what is to come in the present, as Luxu, Ira, Invi, Aced, Gula, Skuld, and the Master of Masters would represent the Seven Crowns. I think this is what was alluded to at the end of Kingdom Hearts III when Eraqus sets up a new game with Xehanort, with Seven Crowns and one white piece.
I think that's all I have to say about the recent update? I still believe that Luxord's Somebody will turn out to be one of the Upperclassmen, likely named Lodur based on all the Norse names going around. (Lodur aided Hoenir and Odin in creating the first humans, Ask and Embla, and his name is sometimes thought to have been an alternate name for Loki, which definitely fits Luxord's personality). Despite this, I have no idea about Demyx or how those potential Darknesses I talked about would find them. I also theorize that there's a connection between Skuld and Urd from Dark Road, as they're both Norns - but Union χ hasn't laid anything more for me to go off of. Let me know what you think :)

Sora Is The Master Of Masters
Part 2:
Tumblr media
The design of the normal Chirithy is also bizarre given how, unlike every other dream eater, it has very calming, less vibrant colours compared to the likes of Meow Meow and the other dream eaters from DDD. Chirithy is small in stature but absolutely loyal to their master, to the point of falling into darkness with them to try and help them. Their fur is a grey-ish silver, with bright blue eyes, a blue and cream collared cape, as well as holding a pink pouch with what appears to be lux or a wayfinder around its neck. It’s design is made of a plush, toy-like texture and it has no mouth. Seemingly made by the MoM artificially somehow (much like how Sora would create Dream eaters in DDD), he describes them as “like cats or dogs, and they’ll be your loyal pet.” Unlike its original reveal, Backcover immediately tells us that these are not naturally made creatures but are made by the MoM as he shows it to the Foretellers in a scientific beaker and the Dream Eater theme plays, which directly matches how Sora and Riku would make them in DDD. The reason I call this to attention is due to both how much it reminds me of Riku, with its silver fur and loyalty, as well as Kairi with its pink pouch and blue eyes. It would make sense that, in order to make a loyal creature, Sora would combine qualities of his best friends into a single form. We never see anyone else, aside from the TWEWY gang, use Dream eaters aside from Sora and Riku. And what happens at the end of DDD and directly after in 0.2? Sora visits his dream eaters and misses the others going on their missions for KH3 due to the fact that he “likes to say goodbye to all his friends”. Meaning that Sora, unlike Riku who never uses Dream Eaters after DDD, values these creatures as much as his human friends and even uses them as a summon in KH3, meaning even in the real world he still has power over them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, knowing Nomura, there is also a good chunk of symbolism we can look to that hints towards these two being one in the same. In the opening for Kingdom Hearts 3, we are introduced with Sora’s opening quote “they can take your world, they can take your heart, cut you loose from all you know. But, if it’s your fate? Then every step forward, will always be one step closer to home.” Nomura has confirmed that this quote is Sora’s thoughts after the events of KH3 and follows his change of attitude towards destiny much like his speech about destiny. The actual opening begins with an image of Sora, alone, standing in The Final World and looking out towards the breaking light of morning—daybreak. These two scenes come across as very similar, focusing on Sora/MoM gazing out towards the daybreak sky littered with dark clouds (symbolism for the troubling times ahead ?) as they both proclaim a speech about destiny and talk about how what is to come is inevitable but the aftermath and how they handle that or what happens after is what is actually important. Both know of the hardships ahead; “A great war shall transpire. Darkness will prevail and the light expire”/ “they can take your world, take your heart, cut you loose from all you know.”, but decide to look ahead to the future with hope; “we have to focus on what comes after, there’s no point focusing on events that we know are going to happen!”/ “but if it's your fate, then every step forward will always be one step closer to home”.
Tumblr media
This opening scene quickly skips to night, traditioning to Young Xehanort staring at the night sky before seeing a purple light that represents his pull to darkness, suggesting the passage of time given it focuses on the sky shifting to these times. Having Sora be shown before Xehanort is suggestive enough, acting as though he came before Xehanort, while daybreak connects to the MoM's home of Daybreak Town. In recent time, the importance of the sky and its colour was given significance with the box-art showing it shifting from daytime to twilight to nighttime and finally daybreak with the foretellers looming ahead on the 2.8 box-art. A note to make is that this happens in the KH3 box-art also, with all the skies forming an x-shape with Sora square in the middle - Sora is connected to all of these skies and as a result, holds some connection to all these different times that those skies represent. Sora, and his entry into the series, has always been represented by daytime, so to include him at Daybreak, which may represent the death of night (Xehanort) and the birth of a new day (new saga for the series), it could also represent Sora himself coming far before any other character in the series. The end of the opening features Sora’s friends joining him, but it is now daytime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Xehanort moving his pieces to mark the actions of the villains throughout the games as everything leads up to KH3 and him making his way to Sora and surrounding him with his darknesses. When the prophecy comes to pass, he claims victory, only for Eraqus to pull the biggest cheaters' move in the book and the Dandelions save Sora once he reverses time. The Dandelions are led and their keyblades seemingly summoned by Emphemer, who asks Sora if he wants help... but why? Why would these ancient, dead keyblade wielders help Sora who has no connection to them aside from Ven who was easily murdered by Terranort in the previous timeline? Why would Emphemer, who is apparently long dead, appear to Sora and offer him help? And why, when Sora gazed up in surprise at the Keyblades and their Deux-ex Machina rescue, did his eyes have a green tint to them despite the dry, orange landscape around them much like how they changed to a green-blue colour, much like that of No Name, when confronted by the likes of Xigbar and Marluxia? Why have a close-up shot of his eyes especially? This reason also explains why Sora’s eyes don’t react to Larxene, Luxord or Demyx; they were not Dandelions or as connected to MoM as the Lauriam, Ventus and Ephemer.
The symbolism of the chess pieces continues to the end of the opening, when we see Sora still alone against the daybreak sky, holding Xehanort's piece while Young Xehanort a moment before stared at Sora's lone piece. Untouched. But alone. The symbolism of how, in the end, Sora is at the start of time and Xehanort is his pawn? How he was the one in control while Xehanort couldn't touch Sora? Because he had help from the past.

Ventus is heavily implied to be involved in Strelitzia’s disappearance, but I think it’s safe to say that he wouldn’t have willingly helped get rid of her and this all a trick of this “Darkness.” Even Brain is aware of this entity existing in human form somehow, along with Ephemer sensing that the darkness in their current Daybreak Town is different. Throughout the series, darkness is a force that exists in people’s hearts and it can be manifested into power. It only exists externally as a physical force when Heartless are created of a person’s lost heart. The only exception is Vanitas...
I’m wondering if Ven pulled a Sora and refuged Darkness within his own Heart, a being so heavily maligned and feared in the KHX era.  This could make a bigger case of Vanitas existing as his own person prior to being a part of Ven’s heart. I think it’s implied in the post kh3 materials released that Vanitas holds Ven’s forgotten memories of his khux past and seeing this update it would seem those dark actions that Ven is involved in would reside in an unconscious, rejected part of himself. An almost alien part, to another being? So far, we just see Darkness pushing Maleficent to leave because she knows too much? We still don’t know what their intentions are, but even then the price of them manipulating events involve swapping Strelitzia for Ven in a highly damaging way. Are they trying to make sure the future as we see it in the games released so far, happen?
Seeing as how memory loss looks to be involved, it’s so ironic how in future events, Ven sleeps in the same place where Marluxia becomes obsessed with manipulating them. If Lauriam recovers and becomes informed of all this, will he insist and prod at Ven’s weak memory? There must be a way to manipulate them prior to Namine in this time period, since the Dandelions there had their memories wiped of the war by some sort of means at the hands of the Union leaders.
Ven’s arc in Union Cross is also so interesting this far. This new situation mirrors so much with Terra’s conflict of being manipulated and possessed through naivety and being so trusting. Combined with his confidence issues concerning his skills and his place with the union leaders, the connections and parallels to the storylines in Birth by Sleep becomes more reinforced. His conflict there is being left behind by his friends and fear of seeing them change beyond recognition. Not to also mention that in both situations he is the youngest, in the weakest position. Will it escalate to the point where he’ll request that the other leaders get rid of him like in Birth by Sleep? Then, this eventually all leads to Xehanort crossing paths with Ven... Was it Xehanort’s hope to get this boy to release an ancient dark force sealed inside him, rather simply being a convenient heart to divide for the x-blade?
Missing Ache is also such an apt keyblade for Ven to have, with it being so aligned with reverse medals in the game. He doesn’t remember, so there’s no pain of guilt. Actually, if you look up Roxas’s keyblades from Days... a lot of them feel very applicable to Ven’s situation (for example, pain of solitude, sign of innocence, crown of guilt, silent dirge, ominous blight which means threatening plant disease) It feels more and more that Roxas is much as Ven’s nobody along with Sora. Actually this situation also reminds me of the time where Roxas and Xion are forced to fight each other unknowingly before Axel breaks it up. If Ven was involved with the end of Strelitzia, was it because he was tricked into seeing a threat?
This whole disguising bit also circles back to Ava, we’ve seen her shape-shift into another foreteller. But if Darkness is the one pretending to be her in case of passing the rulebook to Ven, then the blame shifts to them yet again. I wonder if Ava being the traitor, the one fated to trigger the keyblade war, was because of Darkness being present within her. The whole reason why the foretellers became hostile to each other was that there was knowledge of a traitor hosting it. For a keyblade wielder to manifest darkness, they must channel rage, which Ava does when confronting Luxu.  If Ava is the one, could Darkness only be limited to possessing her? There’s the theory of a Brain impersonator too...Darkness could be doing that body-jumping that Luxu and Xehanort do later on. Perhaps Darkness is so indistinguishable from the darkness within a person’s heart, they’ll confuse their own will for Darkness’s. They then spread to other people just like in the fairy tale about the x-era, all for keeping the light safe by breeding contempt.
Darkness existing as its own entity walking around is so novel, I wonder if it’s possible that we only see it this way since they are in a data world instead of the real one. Chirithy exist in the real world despite being dream eaters or the “real” world is a dream world all along. This whole “darkness” thing started within a chirithy too, an innocent being much like Ven.

@noneofthismakessensetome KHUX is really hard to explain, and I don’t really understand it myself despite watching every update, but the most that I can glean from it is that it’s set in the past in a place called Daybreak Town, right before the Keyblade War. (How far in the past is unknown, not helped by the fact that time travels differently in each World, but it was definitely before Xehanort was born).
There was this guy named the Master of Masters, and he’s supposedly been fighting a war against darkness for a very long time. (No idea if that’s the elemental concept of darkness, or Darkness the character). He’s the person who invented Keyblades (or one of the people. KHUX is extremely vague and likes to throw little doubts in just to make you question everything), and he gathered six apprentices (all named after one of the Seven Deadly Sins). Luxu, aka Xigbar, is one of the six. The only other relevant one is Ava.
Five of these apprentices (not Luxu) become the Foretellers, leaders of these different Unions of ‘Keykids’ (which I don’t think is an official term, but that’s what the fandom calls them so I will too) who wield Keyblades against the Heartless to collect Lux (which is some sort of light energy). Each of them is also given a Chirithy Spirit created by the Master of Masters.
The Master of Masters, aka MoM, can see into the future, because he put his ‘eye’ into the Keyblade No Name (Master Xehanort’s Keyblade), as well as other Keyblades like Riku’s Way to the Dawn and Vanitas’s Void Gear (if that is the name of Vanitas’s Keyblade...). Because these ‘eyes’ exist in the future, the MoM is able to ‘see’ into the future, and writes all future events down in the Book of Prophecies. He then gives copies of the Book of Prophecies to the Foretellers (not Luxu), but leaves out a certain page. He then sows distrust through the five by telling them one of them is a traitor.
The Foretellers all mistrust each other, and through a chain of events this leads to the Keyblade War, where all the ‘Keykids’ kill each other and the World is rift apart. The only ones who survive are the Dandelions, a special group of ‘Keykids’ the MoM told Ava to form, who hide in a Data version of Daybreak Town. The Dandelions have their minds wiped of the Keyblade War by the Chirithies and believe they are in the real Daybreak Town, except for the five Union Leaders, who were chosen by the MoM and given Books of Prophecy by Ava (more on that in a second...).
In the latest KHUX update, the MoM says that it will take multiple lifetimes to defeat darkness (or Darkness), and this is probably why Luxu (Xigbar) has been hopping from body to body for all these years (centuries?). The MoM gave Luxu the Black Box (without telling him what’s inside) and No Name (to be passed down through the generations of Keyblade Wielders and eventually wind up with Xehanort before going back to Luxu). By having No Name be passed down into the future, the MoM can see through its ‘eye’ and write down future events.
So about the Union Leaders of the Dandelions, the ones the MoM told Ava to pick were Ephemer, Skuld, Brain, Lauriam (Marluxia), and Strelitzia. However, (as we saw with the most recent update) a shadowy being named Darkness killed Strelitzia and gave Ventus her copy of the Book of Prophecies instead. Ventus was in some kind of trance or had his memory wiped, and didn’t remember Strelitzia’s death until now.
Darkness has also been helping Maleficent, because for some reason after her defeat in KH1 she wound up in the past in Data Daybreak Town, and Darkness wants to help her get back to the future (KH2) with a time machine. (The time machine, called the Ark or the Lifeboat in different translations, is the same machine used by Terra-Xehanort to send five-year-old Kairi to Destiny Islands, although in that case she was transported through space, not time). It seems that Darkness wants some of the ‘Keykids’ (Ventus, Lauriam (Marluxia), Elrena (Larxene), and Skuld (who is probably Subject X)) to be transported to the future, and somehow Maleficent will serve as their Waypoint. (I don’t understand how time-travel in KH works, nor why Darkness wants to send the ‘Keykids’ to the future, but that’s the best explanation I can give).
Anyway, the whole murder mystery about ‘who killed Strelitzia?’ has been the biggest fandom mystery in KH for a long time (I’m talking like, three years). And unfortunately, it’s still not solved because it’s still not clear just who/what Darkness is. Some believe that Darkness is Ava, who is actually the ‘traitor’ trying to stop the MoM’s plan, because she believes his plan will end in the destruction of the World (which it kinda did). This is because Darkness takes the form of Ava to speak to Ventus after killing Strelitzia, and tells him that he’s a Union Leader (when really he’s the ‘imposter’). Ava is known to have the power of illusion, which is why some fans think she may have taken the form of Darkness to disguise herself. (Just a note on all this, I can’t remember exactly what all the fan-theories about Ava are, and I may have gotten something wrong here. But the basic gist is that some fans believe Ava is Darkness).
Then there’s the second theory, which unfortunately in my opinion is the more likely of the two. We know from Re:Mind that a being calling itself Darkness is hiding within Ven’s heart, and in KHUX Brain says that Darkness (or darkness) can hide inside people. Combine this with Vanitas’s speech to Ventus in Re:Mind, about how he and Ven ‘aren’t the same like he thinks’ and how he was just ‘hidden inside Ven until Xehanort tore him out’, it seems to imply that Vanitas is actually Darkness (or a piece of Darkness) who was hidden inside of Ven, and not the dark half of Ven’s heart like we’ve believed for the past decade. Basically, if this theory is true, it completely re-writes Vanitas’s entire character, motivations, and origins, while also retroactively making him a child-murderer, and I’m sure you all already know how I feel about that.
Now, literally nothing outside of Re:Mind implies that Vanitas is Darkness, and in fact the scene in the Keyblade Graveyard with Vanitas, Ventus, and Sora right after the scene in Re:Mind seems to contradict this theory, as well as every piece of material on Vanitas released both before and after Re:Mind including his character file, so this all may be just one big misunderstanding, but that doesn’t dissuade the fact that there is literally an entity calling itself Darkness inside Ven’s heart. I can’t even begin to imagine how it got there, unless 1. It’s Vanitas after returning to Ven’s heart after his defeat in BBS or 2. Darkness somehow got into Ven’s heart while he was sleeping in Castle Oblivion.
This is all pure fan-theory, but since the Vanitas in KH3 is a time traveling version of Vanitas from the past, it could be that the ‘real’ Vanitas is still living inside Ven’s heart (like how Roxas was still inside Sora’s heart), and if the ‘real’ Vanitas is now calling himself Darkness, then it’s possible that Vanitas was either lying about being half of Ventus this entire time or is only now just remembering his memories of being Darkness. Either way, if Vanitas really does turn out to be Darkness, then I can only imagine his entire personality will be overwritten by Darkness’s and Vanitas will basically cease to exist as a character. As in, he won’t just be dead, he’ll have never truly existed in the first place.
And that, my friends, is why I’ve been in a constant state of anxiety, stress, and depression for the past year, and the reason I haven’t updated A Heart and a Half, because I’m having trouble reconciling the Vanitas from the BBS Novel (an abused, neglected child manipulated from birth to be a weapon) with what is potentially his true identity as Darkness (an ancient, child-murdering demonic entity). Once again, it’s still just a fan-theory... But a very plausible fan-theory.
Anyway, the third theory is that Darkness isn’t secretly some other character, but instead is exactly what it says it is— a sapient amalgamation of the elemental force of darkness. Darkness tells Maleficent that she should think of it as an ‘old friend’, leading some to believe it’s someone Maleficent knows from the future. However, it could be that Darkness ‘knows’ Maleficent because it itself is the embodiment of elemental darkness, and Maleficent is a darkness-user. In that case, it could be said Darkness is a ‘friend’ to all people who use darkness.
Unfortunately, before anyone says this line of dialogue proves that Vanitas can’t be Darkness because Vanitas never met Maleficent, Vanitas did meet Maleficent... in the BBS Novel. In the BBS Novel, Maleficent asks Vanitas if he’s a ‘friend’ of Xehanort’s. Vanitas hesitantly says yes (because his abuser isn’t exactly a friend to him), simply because he and Xehanort are allies. He then asks Maleficent if she’s ‘friends’ with Xehanort, and she says yes (in the sense that they are allies). In this roundabout way, it could be construed that if Vanitas is Xehanort’s friend, and Maleficent is Xehanort’s friend, then that makes Vanitas Maleficent’s friend, which still fits in with the theory that Vanitas is Darkness if Darkness is Maleficent’s friend.
Even if we ignore the (technically non-canon) BBS Novel scenes of Xehanort kicking twelve-year-old Vanitas in the face and beating him with his Keyblade until he cried and leaving him isolated in a wasteland for weeks on end, and just go off of the games’ canon, the story of Ventus and Vanitas can still be seen as both literal and metaphorical child abuse, with Ven being the part of the victim who represses the trauma and Vanitas being the part of the victim who lashes out. Of course, if Vanitas does turn out to be Darkness, then he will be retconned from a victim into a scheming child-murderer just as evil as his abuser and the demon/abomination/empty creature that Xehanort always said he was! (Maybe that’s why Vanitas had such a mental breakdown in Re:Mind... he realized every horrible thing Xehanort ever told him about himself was true...). Which is why, as you can imagine, this theory causes me a lot of stress!
Anyway, that’s the story of KHUX and the reason why I turn into a big ball of anxiety every time a new update occurs. I literally wouldn’t care about KHUX at all if Ven wasn’t in it, but he is, and everything that happens to Ven in the past is something that will effect him and Vanitas in the future, whether Vanitas is confirmed to be Darkness or not. We now know that Ven has had even more trauma forced upon him than he’d had with Xehanort, and I now have a suspicion that the reason Ven refused to create the X-Blade by using the darkness in his heart in the BBS flashback scenes was because he remembered what darkness and/or Darkness did to Strelitzia.
I really can’t imagine why Ven is in KHUX other than to connect him to this Darkness character in some way. Some fans still claim that Ven is the one who killed Strelitzia because they think he was ‘possessed’ by Darkness, but it seems pretty clear that Darkness was the culprit while Ven just stood there in a trance. Even so, I suspect that Ven blames himself for what happened anyway, even though it wasn’t his fault. I don’t know how this will play out with the future/current Ven. Is he suddenly going to remember his past and think he killed Strelitzia? Why? For the angst? Is he going to realize that Vanitas is (or is a part of) Darkness and therefore the murderer of some random girl Ven barely knows? Is Darkness just going to pop out of Ven when he’s in the Realm of Darkness with Aqua and Terra and... I don’t even know. Fight him? Gloat? Enact his evil scheme of destroying the World because you see, Vanitas never really wanted his light back, he never really wanted friends (page 378 of the BBS Novel), he was lying the entire time! Yes, he’s totally this evil monster who just wants to kill people because he’s evil~!
...Alright, I’ll stop. But seriously, I don’t know where this story is headed, guys. This update basically had the MoM tell us to stop trying to figure things out or theorize and that we shouldn’t want to know everything that’s going to happen, so who knows. Next update might throw us a curveball and reveal Darkness was secretly... idk Pete the entire time. He’s Maleficent’s friend! Or maybe it’s just Xehanort again, who knows. I just feel... really tired of KH, and I don’t really know where I’m going to go from here. Hopefully this is the last time I rant about this subject, though, because I really feel like I’ve already said all there is to say.
I want to finish A Heart and a Half, but I also feel hampered by everything that might happen with Vanitas. I also feel like managing my Tumblr blogs is causing me too much stress and distracting me from doing other things (including writing my fanfics), so I’ve been thinking of putting them both on a more ‘permanent’ hiatus after their queues run out sometime later this month. I dunno how everyone would feel about that, though, nor how long that hiatus would be. I’d certainly miss talking to everyone, and you guys make me smile whenever I get a comment or a question from you all! But I also feel like I need to focus on my health (both physical and mental) and work on things that don’t involve social media. I guess I just need a little more time to think about it.

It's sad that they're trying to make Lea and Isa's duo into a trio by adding Skuld because Skuld is so underdeveloped that she barely counts as a character. All she does is hang out with Ephemer and neglect her friendship with Player. Maybe if she actually did things I'd be able to muster up some excitement over the idea of her becoming friends with my two favorite characters, but with the current situation she could be replaced with a cardboard cutout and no one would notice any difference.
Yes, thank you! This is a huge reason KH3 was such a letdown for me. I’ve heard people say that fans just got themselves too hyped up and their expectations were unrealistic. Nope, that’s not the case with me nor do I think that was the reason for most of the disappointment within the fandom. I wasn’t even overly hyped. KH3 just didn’t accomplish what it was supposed to. But more than anything, the characters were NOT treated with respect. That was my biggest disappointment.
Before KH3 came out, I was actually excited about KH4 and beyond because of the fact that we now have a pretty large group of main characters and they have so much potential. We wouldn’t have to focus on just Sora, Donald, and Goofy anymore. There are so many characters to develop and they all have solid personalities. We have the Destiny Island trio, the Wayfinder trio, the Disney Castle crew, and Lea and Isa.
I have an attachment to all of them based on all the previous games and all the years they’ve been developed. I wanted to see them interact with each other once Xehanort was defeated and everyone was rescued. Not get dumped in favor of new characters. Of all the characters Lea and Isa could form a relationship with, Skuld is the WORST choice. There are sooo many more interesting characters to focus on. Lea and Isa could grow close to Sora, Riku, Kairi, Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Donald, Goofy, or Mickey! Yet, they’re getting shoved aside for Union X characters that you need to play a mobile game to be familiar with. Skuld wasn’t even included in the Back Cover movie. Even if you played all the KH remasters, you still won’t know who she is!
Tumblr media
I’ve actually seen all the cutscenes for Union X and I agree with you wholeheartedly. The characters were inoffensive, but they all had the personality of a wet paper bag. Nomura said Kingdom Hearts X, as it was originally called, was not supposed to have a heavy focus on story. Nothing I saw gave me the impression that characters like Skuld or Ephemer were meant to be anything more than mobile game characters. They were there for the player’s avatar to interact with, to give him/her a voice, since he/she is silent. But they are ancient history and should have perished during the Keyblade War.
Ehpemer comes from the world ephemeral, meaning “lasting a very short time”. The three Norns are the Goddesses of fate in Norse mythology and are described as deciding the fates of people. Their names are Urd “What Once Was” (Old Norse “Urðr”), Verdandi “What Is Coming into Being” (Old Norse “Verðandi”) and Skuld “What Shall Be” (Old Norse “Skuld”).
My point is that these characters seem more suited as background characters. They are part of the mythology and history of the Keyblade War. They are not on par with the established characters and are not suitable to be the new protagonists. Now they are being teased as the main focus for the upcoming plot arc. I think this was a big mistake on Nomura’s part. Hardly anyone is going to be excited for them. I’m certainly not. I feel like there is very little to look forward to anymore.
You’re right. Skuld has no personality. And to add insult to injury, since she’s Subject X now, Lea and Isa had everything stripped from them in order to prop her up. Skuld isn’t interesting enough to be introduced on her own, so she has to ride on the coattails of Lea and Isa and the human experimentation subplot. This is such bullshit. New characters should NOT come at the expense of old ones. Lea needed a sad backstory as a test subject, and he needed his friendship with Isa to be properly developed so his fight at the Keyblade Graveyard felt emotionally engaging (which it didn’t).
Isa needed to be Subject X to redeem him. Saïx didn’t have much of a “personality”. This was the whole point. He was never likable the way Axel was. He was rude, condescending, cold, and vicious. According to Axel, he showed no human emotion besides sneers and snide remarks. But he was Norted, for crying out loud! Saïx was not meant to be one of the protagonists. Isa was!! They threw away two amazing characters for this flat underdeveloped Union X one. Very foolish and shortsighted. it’s definitely gonna bite them in the ass.
Tumblr media
Lea and Isa were always meant to be a duo. For some fans, it seems like only trios are valid, but that’s not true. SRK are Sky, Land, Sea. TAV are Earth, Water, Wind. Well, Lea and Isa are Sun and Moon—complementary opposites. I’ve heard people say that Skuld would be “Stars”. Well, I think Terra, Aqua, and Ven were meant to be the stars. Skuld is redundant and not needed to “complete” Lea and Isa.
Even in canon, she is a stranger to them. They spoke to her a few times in the shadows and couldn’t even see her face. She had amnesia. They literally knew nothing about her and weren’t sure if she even existed after a while, yet now their whole backstory revolves around her. She doesn’t complement them at all or make them more interesting. She detracts from them.
On the other hand, Isa definitely complemented Lea and made him a more interesting character. That’s why I liked him. He provided Lea with someone to humanize him and to give him a poignant backstory. He gave Lea a goal while becoming a Keyblade wielder. And Isa’s chemistry with Lea was adorable. Isa was sarcastic and brought out a different side of Lea than Roxas and Xion did. They also had an actual history together. They went to school together, ate ice cream, and also played with a dog. Probably played fetch with the frisbee (aww).
Lea was closer to Isa than anyone else—period. I was much, MUCH more excited to see Lea and Isa’s past and their friendship get developed than the potential relationship they have with Skuld get teased. No, I’m not excited for them to be a trio and I’m not excited for Skuld to get in the way of Lea and Isa’s friendship and make it all about her. She seemed like she fit in better with Ephemer anyways. Also, I think Lea and Isa have waaaaay more personality than Skuld. They are both colorful characters with a lot of charm. She can’t hold a candle to them.

Leo Traits
Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac and has the Sun as its ruling celestial body. Bold, intelligent, warm, and courageous, Leo star sign is a natural leader of the Zodiac. Leo is an adventurer, seeking to balance an intense life of social obligations and travel with plenty of downtime to relax and luxuriate.
A Leo is a typical outgoing and jovial kind of person. He has a big friend circle and likes to boss around. Appreciation and admiration are the two important things for getting close to a lion’s heart. He likes to be flattered and pampered.
Skuld just doesn’t fit in with Lea and Isa’s theme. They are Sun/Moon opposites. She’s a third wheel. In KH2, Axel didn’t have a lot of development. He was clever and cocky, but we didn’t know a lot about him, especially as a human. When they decided to flesh him out, they definitely decided to make him a typical Sun personality. I thought Lea was surprisingly cheery and positive.
Caring
At their best, the courageous Leo is strong, and has an amazing, protective attitude towards their friends. They care very deeply for those close to them.
He cares very much for his friends.
Optimistic
Leo is an optimist who is able to see the silver lining to life. They are optimists who are always able to find the positive side of any situation, and they prefer to revel in the good than dwell over the bad.
Even though Axel could be quite pessimistic, Lea was a natural optimist.
Kind
They are always willing to help out a loved one in need, and they will go to great lengths to make sure that those they care about most are happy. Leos have a compassionate heart, and they tend to be extremely kind and generous creatures.
He was always willing to help stray puppies.
Loyal
If there’s one thing that you can say about Leo with certainty, it’s that they are some of the most loyal people that you will ever meet. Leo is the bravest sign in the Zodiac, often doing whatever they are required to do despite being scared or in danger.
He is amazingly loyal. He always wanted to bring his friends back, no matter what. Even when he thought Isa tried to kill him.
Straightforwardness
Mincing words is not in the nature of a Leo. They speak their mind and like to express their thoughts clearly. Frankness is therefore, one of the biggest strengths of Leos. It is because of their straightforwardness that they are able to confront opinions and thoughts, they do not approve of, directly. This is also one of the reasons why they get things done fast.
He is very straightforward. He lied a lot to Roxas and kept secrets, but that wasn’t who he really was.
Faithful Partners and Good Friends
Leos are romantic and passionate lovers. They are faithful partners and exhibit extreme sensitivity  while in a relationship. This is also the reason why they are vulnerable to getting hurt. Thus, Leos need to find someone whom they can trust before they shower their love and kindness on that person.
One of the special traits found in Leos is helping friends in need. Lending emotional support to friends in difficult times is a rare quality found in these people. It enables them to make lifelong friends. Behind all the aggression, ego and other domineering personality traits of a Leo lies a sensitive heart which cares for the dear ones. Leos take pride in protecting their close ones and would do so with all the energy and wit they possess. It is observed that the bossy exterior of Leos often eclipses their sensitive nature.
He is a wonderful friend, but has a deeper side, more sensitive side. All very accurate.
Tumblr media
Arrogance
At times, their dominance and confidence can be seen more like arrogance and conceit. Leo individuals ooze with confidence. They think that if they are the first to arrive at some conclusion, then they are right.
Lea was arrogant in a playful way. Like when he challenged Ventus to a fight. Axel was like that, too.
Inflexibility
They’re inflexible for other people, but they’re also inflexible for themselves. When they’ve made a commitment to something, they’re going to stick with it, regardless of how much they hate it.
Basically, Lea did whatever he wanted. Even Saïx said this about him.
Laziness
Though full of ambition and enthusiasm, Leo has to admit to a lazy streak and, given the opportunity, will take the easy way out, especially when a situation offers little fun or glory.
He likes to have fun.
Pride
This sign is represented by a lion, and as such, Leos are born with all of the pride and glory of the maned creature.
Oh yes, he is very proud.
Domineering
Leos have a hard time learning when to stop ruling and start listening. For this reason, Leos are extremely domineering and tend to overpower those around them.
Lea was the accelerator and Isa was the brake. Lea never listened to Isa, though.
Impatience
Impatience is one of the negative traits exhibited by a Leo. This trait of Leos get reflected in their habit to get things done fast. Impatience may lead to development of anxiety and restlessness in these individuals.
Axel never liked waiting around.
Jealousy
Leos may exhibit a possessive nature. This trait is closely related to the jealousy they exhibit. In fact, they are jealous because of their possessive nature.
Saïx was very jealous. But Lea probably had a side like that as well. He would not like it if Isa alienated him.
Tumblr media
Cancer Traits
Cancer, the fourth sun sign of the Zodiac, has water as its element, is feminine, and is ruled by the Moon. This sign is represented by crabs, and similar to their nature, these people can be the sweetest and most sympathetic people at one moment, and turn into the most cranky and irritable ones the next.
Even though Isa was an NPC, he was not just “Lea’s friend”. He was certainly far more deserving of character development than ANY Union X character, that’s for sure. Isa seemed like he was more of a feminine archetype. Therefore, he is unlike any other male character in the series. I thought he was very refreshing and unique. He brought something new to the table. Also, based on the way Saïx acted, Isa was not just a cardboard cutout, either. He had interesting flaws to provide him with depth. Evidence suggests he was a typical Moon personality.
Moody
Cancer individuals are also known to have a moody attitude, especially whenever they are jealous. Normally protective and courageous, Cancer signed people could become very brooding and moody if they feel that their emotional needs are not being met. Cancer is all about needing emotional security and trust in a relationship, like all of us of course. But they take it to another level.
If a Cancer feels as though he can’t trust you or if he’s just an insecure guy in general, then his possessive and jealous side is going to come out in a major way. He’ll make snide comments about what you’re wearing and ask you questions about what you’re doing and who you’re with that can rival the time of being a teenager under your parents’ roof.
Man, dos this sound like Saïx or what? He was insanely jealous. While I think Saïx was a totally different personality from Isa, I still think he reflected much of Isa’s personality in him, due to having his memories and captured heart. In the novel, when Roxas was upset he pushed the wrong button, Axel said he knew what it felt like to have something be wrong and not know the reason. Based on the way Saïx acted, Isa sounded very emotionally needy towards Lea. I definitely think he’d be jealous if Lea didn’t spend enough time with him. He might be passive aggressive about it, too.
Unpredictable
Cancer, being a water sign, is very emotional and sensitive. They are very touchy, and can get hurt at the slightest provocation. It is this sensitivity, which makes them hide in their own shell, away from the world, to protect themselves from getting hurt. When they retreat into this shell, and refuse to talk to anybody, people may find them to be moody and unpredictable.
It doesn’t take much for them to go from friendly and outgoing, to totally introverted as a way of protecting themselves. And it can prove quite confusing and unpredictable to the people in their lives. Cancer needs a strong partner who can deal with his various sides and complexity. You never know what will trigger his moods and his evasiveness and his habit of being indirect makes you question if you ever really knew him.
Saïx could also be surprisingly moody and oversensitive once he began to awaken a heart. Axel had no idea why he suddenly started berating Xion and calling her a failure all the time. He wouls walk on eggshells to avoid upsetting him. It was probably easy to push the wrong buttons with Isa and he might not tell Lea what was bothering him right away. In the novel, Axel tried to get Saïx to open up to him by putting his hand on his shoulder, but Saïx brushed it away. This upset Axel and made him think how different things were between them. This said a lot about their relationship as humans. Lea had to put effort to get Isa to open up, but Isa was receptive to it.
Negative
Cancer people are ruled by the Moon, which is ever-changing, and thus they can have moods that can grow dark and darker. It’s common for people with this zodiac sign to struggle with low self-esteem and hold a lifelong grudge against someone. They are someone who sees the glass as half empty rather than half full.
Another trait being their lack of trust in people, they tend to have a negative outlook of life. They become prone to depression, and are unable to enjoy life. They can get hurt at the drop of a hat, and rarely express their resentment and anger.
I think this was why Isa felt like a burden on Lea and was down on himself a lot. Isa needed Lea to be the upbeat optimist for him. Isa was probably snarky and nitpicky with Lea, but in a more playful way. He was the brake, while Lea was the accelerator. This is also a dynamic unique to Lea and Isa. Axel had to be the mature and responsible mentor figure with Roxas and Xion. But with Isa, he was more playful and mischievous. Isa would scold Lea, but Lea never would listen.
Clingy
Cancer is a sign of fertile imagination and deep emotional needs. Cancer individuals are sometimes over-imaginative, which can get them in trouble. They will obsess over the situation until they have all of their answers.
Cancerians are very possessive about their relationships. They can be very clingy, and try to hold on to relationships, even after they have ended it. In relationships, they give much more and expect very little in return. Being emotional and sensitive, they are very easily influenced by their loved ones.
Yep. This is exactly how I think Isa was with Lea. Isa was very attached and gave his whole heart to Lea.
Suspicious
The empathetic crab is inclined to protect themselves. They only trust when they feel safe within relationships, often resorting to their inner world when they do not feel trustful or safe. He needs his moods and anxieties to be understood and if they’re not then he will retreat to his shell and come back out when he feels safe.
Definitely sounds like Isa. He was shy and couldn’t open up to just anybody.
Tumblr media
Cancer Traits
Cancer star sign, the fourth sign of the zodiac is all about home. They are a nurturing and maternal sign. These people love their home and family more than anything else in this world. Cancerians are blessed with strong intuitive and psychic powers that help them judge people well. These people tend to be hard on the outside and soft inside. But they also have a tougher side to their personality.
So, Saïx exhibited all of the typical Cancer flaws. So, it stands to reason that Isa would also exhibit Cancer’s positive attributes, too.
Intuitive
Cancerians are known to be psychic, and can almost guess things before they actually happen. This comes from their highly developed observational powers. They can truly understand human behavior, and rarely forget things. All these make them highly intuitive and psychic.
This is a side of Isa we definitely never saw in Saïx. His scar is on his third eye chakra, which is the center of psychic awareness. It’s why he couldn’t see Xion or understand why Axel acted the way he did. It’s sad actually. A big part of his personality was shut down.
Kind
Emotional strength and intuition will always define Cancer’s top strengths and traits. This is emotional, but kind-hearted and compassionate personality type that makes for an outstanding friend.
I’m sure Isa was very kind and a wonderful friend, which is why Axel was so desperate to have a “best friend” to fill the void.
Emotive
Cancers are known for their traits like loyalty, their emotional depth, and their parenting instincts. Cancer individuals are emotional and intense; they are also extremely intuitive and compassionate. People belonging to this zodiac sign are highly emotional. Just like the crab that represents them, they are hard from outside, but very soft and mushy from within.
Isa scolded Lea a lot, but only because he cared. He was compassionate and selfless, like the Moon Rabbit. If there’s anything KH3 got right about Isa, it’s that he’d try to comfort an imprisoned girl and want to help her.
Faithful
Cancer is the most concerned with a secure and faithful relationship. Cancer individual loves home and family and is not happy unless they have deep emotional ties. Cancer is usually very nurturing and tends to take good care of everyone they care about.
Isa was serious when he said he’d never forget Lea. I definitely think Isa was the one who first gave Lea the WINNER stick, too.
Loving
Cancer individuals are very loving and caring. As the most sensitive sign of the zodiac, a Cancer does everything with love in mind and in the heart. Because of this, they are the most tender lovers.
Yes, I do think Lea and Isa were envisioned as a couple. Isa loved Lea. His Bunnymoon weapon has a rocket being launched by a heart. Lea also loved Isa, and this is why Axel was so depressed whenever he thought about how different Saïx was compared to Isa. Axel desperately missed feeling loved by someone. They had an extraordinarily interesting relationship. I don’t think Skuld adds anything except getting in the way and watering down their bond.

Since we know that Luxord and Demyx are both characters that have some connection to khux, I've seen a bunch of theories on who they could possibly be: from characters that we haven't met yet to Demyx is the MoM. After giving it some thought myself I've been thinking that Luxord might be Brain and Demyx could possibly be the Player. Any ideas on who the two might be? I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
I’m very conflicted on what I think about those two, and here’s why.
Part of me wants to think that they’re more like Elrena, true Dandelions who just so happened to not make it in UX story cutscenes just yet. However, another part of me thinks that based on how Luxu in Observations 12 only said “The Five [Union Leaders] were sent to another worldline” rather than saying the Dandelions as a whole (which is also hinted here by the MoM when he said “well maybe not all of them.”), that not all the Dandelions left the Data Daybreak Town. Luxu makes it seem like literally ONLY the Union Leaders left-- but then we would have to explain Elrena, as so far in the story, she’s not a Union Leader. I thought to myself, maybe she takes the place of Ephemer or Brain, since so far those are the two who have NOT been seen (alive) in modern KH times. But even then, we still have Luxord and Demyx, and even if one of them replaced Brain or Ephemer as well, we STILL have one left-over modern Dandelion to wonder how the hell they got here if only five Union Leaders arrived in modern times.
SO, to ME, I also am considerate of another idea, that Demyx and Luxord are more like Eraqus-- a descendant of a Union Leader. Xemnas never said (in English at least) that Demyx and Luxord were Dandelions. What Xemnas said was that they have the “Ancient Keyblade legacy that slumbers within them”. And to me, that is just as plausible of meaning “a keyblade legacy passed down through generations” as it does “you’re a keyblade wielder from ancient times”. But even IF they were a descendant, you would assume they would look like who they’re related to, as Eraqus certainly looks like Brain (it’s not even confirmed that they’re the relatives, it’s just the obvious link based on their appearances. I still think there’s a possibility they’re the same fucking person, but I can talk about that later if someone asks me to elaborate LOL).
BACK to Luxord and Demyx, I don’t really want to assume that they’re actually just past characters in new vessels, just because I personally am hoping that Nomura doesn’t abuse that twist, cause then it’s like-- who do we even trust? how do we even play the future Kingdom Hearts series without doubting every new character introduced. But even if I had to theorize that Luxord or Demyx could be someone we know, I would would at least think that Nomura would plant a seed to help us realize this? Like so far, the only seed I can think of is both Luxord in the Caribbean and a Kingstagram screen focusing on the Chess Light of the Past Union Leaders saying “The Game isn’t Over Until it’s Over.” and THAT does hint at Luxord relating somehow to Eraqus’s plan or the Union Leaders. But even then, I’m not sure what else there is for me to say “Luxord is ____” or “Demyx is ____”. But that’s just me at least
I DO also have this post though, about how I strongly disbelieve the theory that Luxord or Demyx are the MoM.

notes of characters in KH3 and how they connect to the next saga
((mainly written for myself, sorry if sentences don’t make sense))
Braig/Xigbar/Luxu:
Coded’s secret ending
kh3 explains how everyone was able to time travel, they left their bodies behind and their hearts were inserted in replicas created by Vexen.
however, that does not explain Braig having his BbS appearance during Coded’s secret ending (DDD’s timeframe), when having a replica for him would show his Luxu self, since his Braig/Xigbar body is a vessel in and of itself.
Sora and Riku only appeared to retain their bodies in DDD, their real bodies were in the Mysterious Tower, while their bodies were projected in the dreams of worlds. We know this from Sora changing appearances in TWTNW later in DDD, as well as his actual sleeping body in the Mysterious Tower
However, Radiant Garden is not a sleeping world, there is no currently known way Braig should appear the way he does in Coded’s secret ending
I don’t think this is a plot HOLE, just something yet to be explained
A connection to Saix (and Axel)
Braig states in during Coded’s secret ending, “So, which poor soul will it be?” when Young Xehanort is cut off after making a ‘S’ sound. The only other character in the room during that time with a name that starts with S is Saix.
Assuming YX tells Braig Saix is a member of the new Organization, then when Braig travels BACK to BbS time. After which, Lea and Isa as teens attempt to become apprentices to help The Girl, who is later removed from the cells by Braig. It’s possible Braig knew that taking away The Girl will spur Saix into becoming a member.
Others
The delicious irony of Braig being stabbed by No Name in DDD’s initial cutscene.
the delicious irony of YX explaining to Braig the importance of the No Name keyblade
Luxu did NOT travel to the current world we know by any loophole like data or dreams. He’s an ancient being who has genuinely existed for all these years.
We know Ephemer did not survive like Ven, Lauriam, and Elrena, but spiritually remained in the Keyblade Graveyard.
It is unknown if he passed away before or after the dandelions escaped to the current world
Braig wears a ragged red scarf like Ephemers (though admittedly it does not have a swirl pattern)
If it is Ephemer’s, does Braig wear is it a token of victory from a battle, or as a token of grief?
-------------------------------------
Eraqus:
knowledge of KHX
during the chess match: YX “then you’ve heard of the lost masters?” eraqus: “never heard of them... where did you hear about that?” [said with suspicion] *couple lines later* YX: “You can drop the facade.”
Eraqus also foreshadowed/planned Sora using the ancient fallen keyblade wielders power during the final battle, saying “some light comes from the past”
his possible connection to Brain in KHX
Brain in KHUX: “Right now we’re still walking the path of a ruined destiny... I’m going to rewrite it.” “I’m going to become the virus that rewrites the program that is this destiny”
Luxu in KH3 report 11: “One of the Five is an impostor, someone the Master did not choose. They represent a virus in the program he so carefully wrote.”
YX AND Master of Masters: Darkness will prevail, and light expire. YX: the future, it’s already been written
Eraqus: “Who’s to stay I can’t change it, and maybe light will prevail?”
KH3 report 2: ‘Eraqus is a blueblood descended from the very first masters in the age of fairy tales.”
Luxu acknowledges Brain as an impostor, yet still let’s him carry the others to the current world we know (or else Ven Marluxia and Larxene would not exist). Luxu also still gives someone the No Name as they leave. Eraqus resembles Brain, and eraqus’s lineage received No Name.
It’s possible that Eraqus is either Brain himself, or a descendant of him, sharing the same will
-------------------------------------
“The Girl”
Probably Skuld, evidence is as follows:
Secret Report 1: “May my heart be my guiding key” knows saying from age of fairy tales
“Four friends, and a key…that is the sum total of my memory.” the ONE girl union leader, with 4 boys. And No Name passed down to one of them, not known who yet
she was carried away by Braig (luxu) at one point, destination unknown
Report 1 was written years after the time of it’s contents, as she says “even now, years on”
if she was 15 (Secret Report 3), she would be marluxia’s age by now unless something has stunted her growth (like ven).
-------------------------------------
Sora
The possibility of Sora leading the Keyblade wielders
I’ve said before Sora will possibly become a king, since he is associated heavily with crowns, and Scala ad Caelum was once a seat of power.
This theory was only strengthened by Xehanort stating his desire to be the leader for keyblade wielders, and Sora stating he wasn’t fit. The glare between the two, while not hard evidence, could be seen as written foreshadowing that Sora is the one fit to be the leader.
EDIT! I forgot to mention in BbS’s xehanort report 4, “And when Kingdom Hearts is complete, it is said the one who opens its door will bring about the creation of the Next World. ... whoever opens that door will be reborn as something far greater than human.”
Sora was told in KH1 that he is the one who will open the door by the voice in the Station of Awakening.
In KH3 Xehanort opens the door of Kingdom Hearts, but is interrupted when Sora activates the portal within him. Sora then closes it with the X-blade and with everyone’s help. We don’t know what happened to the X-blade afterwards but it’s not a jump to assume Sora will be able to use it again in the future if he ever needs to open Kingdom Hearts again fully this time.
Sora changed destiny like Eraqus planned
In the scene of Sora telling Xehanort he isn’t fit to lead the keyblade wielders, Sora states that one must accept the fact that they cannot control destiny, however, we know that Sora did change destiny:
At first, everyone was wiped by terra-xehanort and the demon tide in the Keyblade Graveyard. But when Sora returned from the Final World, he first returned just a moment before the demon tide killed him, but when he restored everyone else as well, he returned a handful of minutes before, and changed the course of everyone’s fate. There’s even moments of deja vu, with terra/xehanort, the only difference of the Lingering Will stopping him. It’s possible that the Lingering Will was summoned by Eraqus as well, seeing as he’s been in Terra’s heart. kitsoa reminded me that Namine mentions Terra and his strong will in the Final World! Still, I am confident in a weird shift of destiny.
Sora’s ability to visit the Final Place
Chirithy reveals Sora has visited The Final World multiple times, when sleeping so deeply he will wonder over from the Station of Awakening
The Final World is a place where persistent hearts gather after death, similar to Kingdom Hearts (it wouldn’t surprise me if they were one in the same)
Others
We’ve still yet to know what Sora did during his time away between DDD and KH 2.9 other then play with dream eaters. Though it’s possible that’s all he did (though why keep it a secret from Donald and Goofy?)

Consider...au where ALL Dandelions are preserved somehow and at some point at the end/climax of the next saga they all get ported to the current time...including Ephemer and everyone's keykids (and I'm gonna say Strel too because you know what, she deserves to reunite with her brother!!). Everyone lives.
Except the Foretellers, the Master, and everyone who died in the ancient Keyblade War. So you have Lauriam reuniting with his sister, and the new leaders, and a whole bunch of other young wielders, all of whom have to come to terms with time travel, amnesia, and the loss of the world and people they knew. Consider Aqua and Terra meeting each of Ven's friends and seeing the living history of the tradition they came from, bonding over dead mentors and being ripped from your home and time. Consider Sora taking time to make friends with e v e r y o n e and becoming the guy that all the keykids know and trust and will speak of fondly when he's not around. Consider Kairi getting to practice and bond with other girls who've been training with the keyblade for years. Consider your keykid(s), still alive after everything, adrift in another new world with another opportunity and new friends.
Please consider with me.

FIXING KINGDOM HEARTS III
Even if I loved KH3, I think everyone will admit it had problems. This is my thought project on how I think those problems could have been fixed without greatly altering any of the main plot points, worlds, or gameplay.
My main problems were:
The pacing, especially with the introductions/impacts of the New Organisation XIII
The aimlessness of Sora’s adventures and how they don’t really explain what the power of waking is for most of the plot
How superfluous Maleficent, Pete, and the box felt
Girl X’s sudden appearance
Fridging Kairi, and the lack of payoff for her and Lea’s training
Set-Up/Overarching Plot
The game’s main story is Team Light’s response to Xehanort’s new Organisation promising a second Keyblade War. They are gathering 13 Darknesses and the only way to fight them is with 7 Lights. Team Light doesn’t want a new Keyblade War. However, this could be their chance to stop Xehanort once and for all. In search of their lights, Team Light also takes this opportunity to rescue Master Eraqus’ pupils: Terra, Aqua, and Ventus. Although, they don’t know where Terra is and they know Ventus’ body and heart are both lost. This sets up the three main plot threads:
1) Kairi and Lea deciding to train to be keyblade wielders to be two of the seven guardians of light.
2) Riku and Mickey searching the vast Realm of Darkness for Aqua - she helped both of them and she’s the only one who can find Ventus’ body.
3) Sora working to regain his strength so he can get his power of waking again to recover Ventus’ heart. Here, Yen Sid explains what the power of waking is at the beginning: a way of connecting with and retrieving sleeping/lost hearts that Sora can use because of his strong, connected heart.
(Olympus)
First, Sora goes to Olympus with the hope of training with Phil and regaining his strength that way. Except, he has to deal with Hades instead. The story plays out more or less the same but Xigbar appears more frequently, taunting Sora about Team Light’s attempt to avoid the incoming Keyblade War and how he’ll never be able to resist being the hero. Xigbar turns up with Heartless and Nobodies for Sora to fight to prove his point.
Meanwhile, in the background, Pete and Maleficent look for the black box. At this point, they’re relatively calm about it but their searching does result in one building collapse and an increase of Heartless in the area, which Sora (unknowingly) has to deal with. Xigbar appears soon after to distract him and seemingly explain the Heartless.
Still, Hades was the main source of problems in this world. While Sora was feeling down (in his own way) about his new weaknesses, he learns to get back up on his feet. He and Herc also realise that the best way for Sora to regain his strength is to do what he did to get strong in the first place: travel the worlds, making connections and protecting whoever is in danger, regardless of this new Keyblade War. He’s not going to let this new Organisation threaten people.
The Main Story in the Disney Worlds
The worlds’ stories play out the same way. We still get updates on both Riku and Mickey difficulties in the Realm of Darkness throughout the game too, as well as updates on Ienzo’s mission to find out from Ansem the Wise’s data how they can bring back Roxas and Namine.
(The New Organisation)
Meanwhile, the Organisation continue to antagonist Sora as he travels to whichever worlds need him. They appear more frequently than they do in the game, provoking the characters into driving the plot forwards while providing the occasional miniboss.
1) Xigbar (Olympus), Xemnas and Ansem SoD (Twilight Town), and Vanitus (Monstropolis) taunt Sora about how inevitable the war is and how he will have to play the role they set for him.
2) Similarly, Marluxia (Corona) and Larxene (Arendelle) are sent to threaten some new Princesses of Heart. They set Heartless against them that Sora has to destroy, since these princesses might have to ‘fight’ as the 7 Lights if the Guardians won’t.
3) Meanwhile, Young Xehanort (Toy Box), Vexen and Luxord (The Caribbean), and Riku Replica (Sanfransokyo) spend their time testing theories hearts and puppets. This shows they’re still gathering members through the replica programme and aren’t quite as ready as Larxene said. They are interested in how vessels that might not have had hearts act and they mess with them throughout the worlds to cause conflict.
(The members use their extra screentime to be a bit more fun/characterful as villains. Although, Marluxia, Larxene, Demyx, and Luxord also spend more time raising questions about Xemnas’ choice to bring them back to the Organisation, then their apparent histories as ancient keyblade wielders that none of them can remember. They all go along with the plan for now but they’re curious about what will be unveiled).
(Pete, Maleficent, and the Box)
Pete and Maleficent’s actions are also felt in all the worlds (except Toy Box, Monstropolis, and 100 Acres Woods since they can’t really get to those). They’re actively avoiding Sora, since he ruined all their plans before, but as they get more frustrated, they cause more difficult puzzles for him to overcome. They briefly come into conflict with Luxord in the Caribbean over the box there yet they realise that’s still not the box they need. They’re angry (with Xigbar) and feel like they’ve been on a wild goose chase, until Maleficent realises that this is because the box doesn’t even exist, yet. It need the Keyblade War.
(The Power of Waking)
As Sora defeats the various challenges on each world and connects with the Disney characters (Pooh included), he starts feeling stronger and more confident. Although, he’s still impatient and the fact it hasn’t (noticeably) unlocked the power of waking prevents Yen Sid from letting him join Riku and Mickey’s search for Aqua. It’s this confidence in his heart that leads him to Destiny Islands though and lets him follow everyone into the Realm of Darkness. Then, when he wakes Ventus during the fight with Vanitus, it’s these connections that have strengthened his ability to do so.
As they’ve learnt from Vanitus, the Organisation are ready for the Keyblade War and they are not going to stop. So, Team Light decides they’ll finally ready to just take this opportunity to put an end to them and Xehanort.
Girl X
Ienzo and Vexen both reference their lab’s previous human experimentation, Ienzo with regret and Vexen subtly with Saix. Ansem the Wise is also clearer in referencing her when talking about his regrets. When Saix talks to Lea about it, he more clearly cites her as the reason they were trying to sneak into Ansem the Wise’s laboratory in the first place.
Kairi and Lea’s training
Kairi admit she’s still not brilliant as a keyblade wielder while Lea is also just getting used it, but they want to be able to help. Kairi talks about the bonds they’ve made and how their connections are important, helping them when they might not be able to help themselves. She ties this in to Namine and Roxas (and Xion) and how they’re fighting to save their lost friends.
The Keyblade War Itself
When Xehanort’s 13 members unleash a wave of Heartless on Team Light, it’s as an ‘easy’ way to have light fight darkness. Team Light fends them off though, as predicted. So, Terra(nort) appears to distract both Aqua and Ventus, allowing him to pick several of them off because the Organisation unleashes the new tower of Heartless that finishes the rest off.
In the Final World, it’s no longer an optional scene that Sora talks to Namine and she promises to reach out to Terra to protect them. Meanwhile, Sora uses the power of waking to bring everyone back to their past bodies. He should have lost his own heart in the process but Kairi’s connection with him is enough to bring him back as well. Although, since people lose their memories of the future when they time travel to the past in Kingdom Hearts, it seems they’re doomed to repeat history. Then, the remnants of Terra’s soul in Lingering Will protect them Terranort. This buys enough time for Ephemer and the ancient keyblade wielders to save them from the Heartless, which, in turn, alerts Yen Sid to intervene.
The rest of the finale plays out as it did. Although, this time, Kairi sacrifices herself in the fight against Xemnas. She and Lea had already struggled to fight Xemnas, Saix, and Xion and she didn’t want Lea to be destroyed before he could properly reunite with Roxas and Xion.
In the near-finale confrontation against Xehanort, it’s not just her ‘death’ that motivates Sora either. Kairi tells him to do whatever it takes to defeat Xehanort when he’s unsure whether they should keep fighting (for fear for forging the X-Blade). Lea also repeats a bit of what she told him about Namine and connections when Sora thinks she’s gone.

' carefree days like these... they're some of my favorites! '
SORA’S HEART HAD ALWAYS been that of a paradise; it was no wonder that so many sought to take refuge within it. When Ephemer had first come into contact with it on the day before the hero’s journey began, all he’d wanted to do was curl into the soft, warm sand and allow the gently lapping waves to carry him off into OBLIVION. However, the ancient wielder could never be anything more than that of a visitor, their existences only intertwining in the fleeting moments where Sora’s heart crossed through The Final World where Ephemer’s spirit rest.
In those brief moments, two worldlines that were never meant to meet could, and Ephemer found himself becoming somewhat of a GUIDING VOICE, urging the other to take hold and pilot his destiny before being kicked out when Sora inevitably awoke. This is how things remained for the entirety of Sora’s journey, and it was nice. That is, until the Keyblade Graveyard and the fight between light and dark. Until the final whoosh that snuffed out the hero’s light for good.
—— No. NO. He won’t allow it. Sora wasn’t done yet. HE CAN’T BE DONE YET.
Tumblr media
ONE LAST TIME. ONE FINAL PUSH. Sora’s heart crosses the star’s path, and he latches onto it, just as he’s done a handful of times before. Manifesting within, the warm sun and green palms of the heartscape greet him, and it feels like a breath of fresh air. Before him, resting in the sand with his arms behind his head, is Sora. He looks younger than the last Ephemer had seen of him ( it’s as though he’s lapsed back to the day they first met ). Blue hues open, calm and instilling within Ephemer a sense of SERENITY. He’s already so far gone, he thinks.
Thankfully, Sora doesn’t seem to mind the intrusion, casting one look at Ephemer before sitting up and patting the spot beside him on the sand. Did he want him to sit ? He looks between the boy’s hand and his welcoming eyes. His own brows turn in curiosity, but he eventually moves to sit beside the other, who now looks out towards the HORIZON.
Ephemer wonders if he should SAY SOMETHING, but it is SORA who breaks the silence first. ❛❛ Carefree days like these . . . they're some of my FAVORITES. ❜❜ There’s a bubble of laughter from a distant point of the island, highlighting the sentiment of the young boy’s words. ❛❛ I wouldn’t mind if things stayed like this forever. ❜❜ It is then that something compels Ephemer to look to his LEFT where he is met with the pieces of a small raft, mast half built and the base yet to be wound together. Suddenly, Sora’s childlike appearance makes more sense. It really is day they met ——— in a sense.
Turquoise eyes find their way back to the brunette, ❛❛ You’re meant for so much MORE though.❜❜ he states, voice feeling heavy in his throat. How does one convince a DEAD BOY to live again ? It feels like he should know. ❛❛ You can keep going. You have to keep going. ❜❜ If Sora gave up, how could anyone else have hope ? How could HE have hope ?
Sora’s gaze shifts back to Ephemer, his brows furrowed and upturned. ❛❛ What . . . What are you talking about ? ❜❜ he asks. Ephemer only shakes his head and rises to his feet, the brunette scrambling after. He moves to stand within the sea, stopping only when the both of them are submerged to their ankles in the glittering waves. It feels nice, and Ephemer finds that he wishes to someday experience the world that inspires this heartscape, though he doubts the day will ever come.
❛❛ IT ISN’T YOUR TIME YET, ❜❜ he continues. ❛❛ You have to go back. YOU will be the one who opens the door, remember ? ❜❜ HE STILL HAS SO MUCH HE HAS TO DO. HE CAN’T BE DONE. NOT YET.
There’s a flash of something on Sora’s face, something he remembers that contorts his soft features into a look of ANGUISH as his head bows. ❛❛ But how ? I can’t . . . I can’t do it alone.❜❜ Is that what he thought he was ? ALONE ? How utterly laughable. There was no other boy in all the worlds who could touch as many hearts as Sora already had. He’d even found a way to connect with complete strangers, such as Ephemer, himself. The very last thing Sora was was ALONE.
Tumblr media
Ephemer turns, pressing a hand to Sora’s shoulder and giving a light squeeze. ❛❛ You’re not alone, Sora. You’ve never been alone. You have the light of A THOUSAND stars to guide you, so believe in yourself. Believe in us. ❜❜
❛❛ But Riku, Kairi, the others— ❜❜
❛❛ You can STILL SAVE THEM, but not if you stay here. ❜❜ He thinks of the L I C H. The wretched creature who strode through the hearts of those that had passed, reminding of them of all that they’d lost as it waited for more hearts to collect from the living world. Ephemer couldn’t bear the thought of Sora and his friends being TRAPPED within its confines, but there wasn’t much time left. ❛❛ If you wait too long, they’ll be gone, so you have to go now. You have to take the plunge.❜❜
With a sharp shove, Sora’s form disappears into the water, suddenly much deeper than it’d been a moment prior. The imagery of the islands f a d e s, and Ephemer can feel his temporary form disappearing right along with them. Before long, all that is left is a near-empty VOID, illuminated only by the stained glass in the center of it all. As Sora’s shoes hit the glass, Ephemer, now only a distant star and disembodied voice, casts the hero off on his journey with ONE FINAL PIECE OF ADVICE, ❛❛ There are seven hearts to save. ❜❜
Little does he know that with the little push needed and his new life granted, Sora would go forth and save an eighth heart: E P H E M E R ’ S .

Note
So, while most of the Norts in the MMO AU follow the rule of "personality traits through the filter of Xehanort", Terra-Xehanort would be different, due to Terra/Eraqus and Xehanort constantly struggling for control. That, combined with his amnesia, would result in Terranort developing a split personality. One is how Terra views Xehanort, which would later become Ansem, and the other how Xehanort views Terra, which would later become Xemnas. Extracting Terra's heart wouldn't fix this.
...Which would explain why neither Ansem SoD or Xemnas aren’t a lot like Xehanort at all. I’d imagine it must’ve driven Xigbar crazy though. (Good.)
So, what keeps the Dandelions from being total gamebreakers once they're freed is that they are, for the most part, pacifists. This means that they'd just serve the in-universe explanation for where the other players in Multiplayer come from, unless there is an in-universe explanation for them to be more involved in the plot. Additionally, I imagine most of them would hang up their Keyblades to live normal lives after being freed. And to be frank, I wouldn't blame them.
I wouldn’t either given all that the MMO AU puts them through.
As for the Keykids running the Ice Cream shop, they'd both be Dandelions due to being from different Unions and not wanting to have to fight each other. They would not wear their ice cream uniforms at the Dandelion meetings, since they're not on the job, and the ice cream is more of a hobby. They would both wield Sweetstack though, even when off the job. All the Sweetstack Materials would be Ice Cream ingredients. Strelitzia and Mog were their favorite customers.
As for how the fact that they're siblings would be revealed? After you ask them about Ven's whereabouts (which wouldn't be easy seeing as they change what World their located in every day), Black Hair would remark on how surprising it is that they get along despite being in different Unions, while White Hair would bring up that they're twins. Cue the flood of angsty oneshots about them fighting and killing eachother in the Keyblade War until they're revealed to be Dandelions.
As for why they're running an ice cream stand? It was the family business, and they both want to keep their family's legacy arrive. They open up the shop whenever they both fill their Daily Quotas. And I just now realized that I accidentally created two OCs with a cute yet angsty backstory while trying to come up with an excuse for Sweetstack to be in the MMO AU. Although I kinda wish I knew how to draw because I just realized my imagined uniforms for them aren't in the canon game.
Ice cream twins you’ve got me sold I am now invested in these characters.
As for where the Ice Cream Vendors would run their shops on what day? Dwarf Woodlands outside the mines on Monday, Wonderland by the White Rabbit's house on Tuesday, Agrabah's Bizarre on Wednesday, Olympus Coliseum by the stands on Thursday (In the Underworld near the entrance in October), Beast's Castle in the Courtyard on Friday, and Daybreak Town in the park on the Weekend. They'd sell ice cream to the spectators during your matches in Olympus Coliseum, just to give the tournament more flavor
Can we buy ice cream while we watch matches or is it just the NPCs and they’re just there to add more character to the Olympus Coliseum stands and as a cute Easter Egg.
You know, after COM put forth the idea that death was the best possible ending for Repliku and that beings like himself could never be happy because they're not real people, I'm REALLY glad that the future games that remember he existed treated his demise as something tragic and not some kind of "mercy kill". His death always made me so mad because it was ultimately POINTLESS to the plot and a great example of a WASTED character. There's a reason I NEVER go down the same route canon did with him
That’s because it wasn’t really a mercy kill. Repliku shouldn’t have existed, it’s true, but once he did he also didn’t really deserve to die. He deserved a better life than the one he got, and its why the fact that he had to face Riku and die all the more tragic.
You know what, can we just have an AU where Namine stops Riku and his Replica from fighting to the death so that Repliku has the chance to be his own person and go on a journey of self discovery? Although I feel like he'd be relieved if Riku got a Keyblade and he didn't just because that would be one difference between them both. He'd probably also style his hair differently from Riku as part of that "forging my own identity" thing. It would be difficult and painful, but at least he'd be alive.
So I don’t quite have that at my disposal, but:
How do you feel about a 500+ chapter AU in which we get to see Repliku saved on the brink of death and shoved into a completely new universe where he is the only Riku? Because I can supply that for you it’s basically the starting point of one of my favorite fics.
Okay so, in KH3, while Roxas would have grown alongside Sora, Ven would not have aged a day while he was in the Chamber of Waking. This means that Roxas would look older than Ven. Vanitas would also look younger than Sora, due to not aging while his Remnant survived through sheer force of hate. Poor Ven, he's ancient but looks younger than the 3 year old.
This is one of the most hilarious things I have ever heard rip Ven.
I imagine Back Cover would be where all the vitriol that was once directed at Brain would then be redirected at Lauriam. Because once you see a 14-15 year old flashback to how he lost his sight and friends just days after the fact, and witnessed someone murder their closest friend, it's kinda hard to not rethink things like that.
I mean all my hatred towards Blaine if I had any would be immediately redirected towards Lauriam once Strelitzia is dead so I don’t even think I’d need Back Cover to hate him, assuming she’s revealed before Back Cover releases at least.
Laurie would lie about Aced killing Strelitzia before 2.8 released. In Back Cover, the famous Case of Luxury scene would be shown when Ava asks Luxu if he's the traitor, and cut back with the implication that he told Ava what the Master told him. The fun-sized Chirithy Ava squeed over was totally Nightmare Chirithy. Invi and Ira would be fighting during Ava's confrontation we Luxu.
Hey Lauriam don’t blame my son for my daughter’s demise.
Anyways, I’d like that transition more. Tbh I kinda wish we did get to see the Keyblade War unfold. It’s one of the only things I don’t like about BC is that it doesn’t follow X to its conclusion.
Okay so, in the MORNING AU, I imagine that the Mango could continue past KH2 depending on why the Manga ends there. As such there would be a Manga Adaptation AND Novelization of KHX. The novelization would have the default male protagonist, while the Manga would have the default female protagonist, and have her be part of Anguis. They'd also be characterized differently, the novel protagonist being more timid and the Manga protagonist being more snarky.
So yeah, the protagonist of the Manga would have Lauriam and the Keyblade Wielders from the Neoshadow Arc as party members until the Neoshadow Trio become Darklings. She'd leave the party after Lauriam blames her for what happened to their three party members. The Novel protagonist MIGHT be an Ursus Wielder, not sure yet. Aced would terrify both of them, since neither could defeat Ava when she was holding back, and Aced would actually be trying to kill them.
SNARKY FEMALE MANGA PROTAGONIST I AM ALL FOR THIS SHIT.
If they’re part of Ursus, I doubt they’d be afraid of Ursus. If you ask me, I think novel protag should be a member of Leopardus though. Creates good contrast versus Ava, and could create a lot of interesting arcs.
Both would have Medals in the "Toon Medal" deal. The Manga protagonist would have a Power-type Medal while the Novel protagonist would have a Speed-type Medal. The first time we hear either say their names would be when Ephemer is introduced. Neither protagonist would talk much, though the Manga protagonist's thoughts would serve as narration. The first time the Manga protagonist speaks would be to tell off Lauriam at the end of the Neoshadow arc before leaving his Party.
So, the Novel and Manga protagonists would both have Medals in the "Toon Medals" deal. The Manga protagonist would have a Power Medal while the Novel Protagonist would have a Speed Medal (if in Ursus) or a Magic Medal (if in Leopardos), in accordance with the idea that all the Keykids are the type that their Foretellers are strong against. They'd be the closest thing we'd have to Medals based off the Player, though both would be treated as distinct characters.
I think there should be a KHUx Toon Medal deal later on actually, where you can get Player and the five Foretellers, since in Ux they’re dead and could be used as medals.
So, MMO AU 0.2 would be virtually unchanged, save for the more intense version of "The End of a World" cutscene that I'm already forming a new idea for in my head, but that's a story for another day. But there would be one other change. You'd actually be able to see what abilities Aqua has on the difficulty you're playing on. Aqua'd have Treasure Magnet on both Beginner and she and Mickey'd both have it on Critical. There still wouldn't be prize drops in Critical, it's only there to taunt you.
...Wow, that’s cruel. Good thing I don’t play Critical because I’d cry I think.
So, in the MMO AU, starting up Back Cover in 2.8 would play a "spinning heart scene" like in the game. Unlike the games, the little screens would depict moments from past Kingdom Hearts games instead of moments from Back Cover. The music that plays over the spinning heart would be "Ventus". The credits themes would be "Case of Foretellers" and "Cavern of Remembrance". I'd probably keep the cutesy recap opening, just without the annoyingly formatted text layover. That was just BAD.
Actually maybe "The Dream" would be more appropriate than "Ventus". Anyway as for how I'd change "The End of a World" from my original idea would be to have the Keyblade Graveyard get absorbed by Kingdom Hearts. THEN Kingdom Hearts explodes, vaporizing the entire universe save for Luxu who survives by hiding out in the Realm of Darkness before Kingdom Hearts can absorb him. I mean, escaping from that to fulfill his role would be kinda difficult.
Honestly please change the entire intro. Maybe keep some of it but that intro could’ve been done so much better than they actually did.
Wow, honestly poor Luxu. Hiding in the RoD to survive doesn’t sound like it’d be fun.
So, I've lost track of what all I've sent you over the past couple of weeks, but I did have one idea that could be cool: imagine if there had been a movie based off the fall of Radiant Garden. I imagine that Xehanort would start out as the main antagonist until he splits between Ansem and Xemnas, at which point one of them would take over the role. I don't actually have as many ideas here as I do for the MMO part of the MMO AU.
I don’t need as many ideas make it a full length movie collaboration between Disney and Squeenix and I’m sold.
So, Sora would be conspicuously absent during Strelitzia's solo game as well as during the Epilogue DLC is that for the final phase of the final battle against Xehanort, Sora would trap himself and Xehanort within Kingdom Hearts. While the final clash would only be about as long as the battle against Xemnas' final form, outside of Kingdom Hearts, an entire year would pass during that duel. Fortunately, Sora would escape as soon as Xehanort is defeated, unscathed save for losing his powers again.
Damn...Poor RIku and Kairi. THey’d probably be searching for ways to rescue Sora the entire time instead of doing anything involving the other characters.
I kinda can't help but notice something mildly amusing about the MMO version of Back Cover. Mickey Mouse (or rather, a holographic double of him) is basically a herald of the apocalypse. I mean, his appearance is what tells the Foretellers that the people in the Book of Prophecy's Holo Worlds can leak out into the real world, explaining where the Heartless came from. Lauriam and Ventus just confuse them, because they KNOW they're not holograms.
GUYS THE WORLD IS ENDING CAN’T YOU TELL IT’S BECAUSE OF MICKEY FREAKING MOUSE. XD
So yeah, Invi basically accuses each of the other 4 Foretellers of being the traitor throughout MMO!BC. First she accuses Aced when he tries to kill her for talking Gula out of their alliance. Then she assumes it's Gula upon learning that Ira thinks that's the case. Then she accuses Ava upon learning about the Dandelions. Then, upon learning of Aced's true role, decides that IRA must be the traitor. The fact that Ira intends to wipe out everyone who fights in the Keyblade War doesn't help.
Okay so, Invi is kinda like Aqua in her devotion to the MoM, save for the fact that she LITERALLY worships him. That's kind of why her last words implied she was okay with the World ending, she had pieced together that the MoM WANTED the apocalypse to happen, and who is she to defy his will? The MoM is, amused by her worship of him, and he probably could have told her his true goals without her lifting a finger to stop him. It's Ava he's worried about.
So yeah, the reason he's so uncharacteristically serious around Ava is because he needs her to get Ven and Lauriam into the Unchained State. He needs Xehanort's plans to end a specific way in order for his eye that he placed in his Keyblade to end up in Kingdom Hearts, while Xehanort needs to drop Ventus off at the Land of Departure to notice the darkness in Terra's heart. Ava and factors he knows he can't control (the Gazing Eye doesn't see everything), could make everything fall apart
You know given how Invi was meant to invoke appearances related to Aqua with color scheme the fact that she parallels Aqua is really fitting.
Him being super serious around Ava makes sense if she’s the biggest threat though. Taking her more seriously means she’s less likely to mess things up for him.
