It's weird how I think of APTBS as like a cornerstone of the entire genre, like they're one of the absolute best in it who gotta have a fairly big cult following. But no, somehow they're not even that famous At All, and it feels so wrong that they're not like where are their millions of views? How is it that their biggest music video that's like 14 years old only has 305K views and among more recent songs it doesn't even reach 30K views most of the time? Insane

2/15/24.
Yes, A Place To Bury Strangers (Brooklyn, New York) has been around for a long time. And yes, I should have known that I would like them. But, I just never got around to listening to them.
And now, my starting place is "Onwards to the Wall". I'm not even starting at "Exploding Head". I was struck by the "liner notes" on Bandcamp for "Onwards to the Wall". Dead Oceans states that the masters for this album were the loudest ever submitted, and they actually had to turn down the volume. The write-up also states, "This thing is pummeling."
When I think of pummeling I think of Buick, Serena Maneesh and Teksti-TV 666. Listening to this I can't help but think of an amazing cross of The Jesus and Mary Chain, Suicide and The Raveonettes.
A Place To Bury Strangers recently released a live LP on Levitation.

“Memoria polaroid” – un blog alla radio S23E27
“My means of production don’t produce” rivendica con una certa passione Smirk nella canzone che apre la scaletta di questa sera. Se anche voi, ogni tanto, non sopportate più tutto questo plusvalore, ecco qui un’oretta di novità indiepop e indie rock, senza trascurare gli indispensabili brindisi, nella nuova puntata del podcast di “Memoria polaroid – un blog alla radio”, la trasmissione in onda…
