TOP 5 “EZIO’S FAMILY” VERSIONS + TOP 5 TRACKS
Reviving this list from @thatcrazycrowgirl because AC OSTs need love.
Ezio’s Family - Favorite Versions:
Main Theme (AC Rogue) I'm a sucker for traditional Irish instrumentals, and you can feel the adventure of the North Atlantic through it. It doesn't just convey Shay's sense of freedom, but his will to fight against great odds and tragedy (and the cold). The way it builds up, then when the beat drops, it explodes into the Irish whistle, backed up by a drumbeat that sounds like both a heartbeat and the beating of your oars against the waves -- and then, as it ends, the music disperses into what sounds like a migratory flock of birds flying overhead.
2. Ezio's Family (Origins Version) (AC Origins)
It's a really tired but determined version of this song. You can feel how the chasm between Aya and Bayek is only as deep as their love. The things that bring them together are the same things that separate them: Their love for Khemu, the common folk, and Egypt. AC Origins is so perfect because it conveys the thing we love about the franchise the most: The ability to feel the will of the people reaching out from thousands of years away. This is the sound of hope. I am constantly mentally reliving the scene when the chorus plays for the first time in the game (notice how on the title screen, they always fade out the tune before the chorus actually drops, so they tease you with the signature beginning of Ezio's Family, but only the beginning):
"Good Bayek of Siwa. What are you of now?" "A new creed. Ours is finished."
3. The Flight (AC Odyssey)
Just like Legend of the Eagle Bearer, you can feel the literal odyssey in it. You feel the tides under your ship. Also, those vocals? Fucking fantastic. I thought I was done with Ezio's Family remakes when Odyssey came out, but then I actually listened to it. Oof. Amazing.
4. Main Theme (AC Chronicles: India)
I'm a sucker for strings. Like, this is why I love Shao Jun's version, but I've spent my whole life listening to pipa and gu zheng strings, ykyk, so I love it a lot, but AC India gives me just the right amount of familiarity in terms of string instrumentals while giving me the sense of a completely different world. It's the novelty for me. It's also just super chill and puts me in a good headspace, while still ending on an exciting, high note. There's also a tempo at the beginning where I feel like I'm listening to a clock tick.
(Oof, there's no gif for him. Sadge.)
5. Earth (AC 2)
Yo, when I tell you that the first time I played AC 2 and Ezio put on his father's Assassin's robes, and this played, I lost my goddamned MIND. I used to listen to this song, Ezio's Family, and Venice Rooftops one after the other like they were all one really long song, on loop, to get myself to fall asleep. I feel like I'm leaping from rooftop to rooftop, until I've achieved full flight. Ugh. Just. Perfection.
Honorable Mention: Somewhere between AC Unity and AC Syndicate versions, because hot DAMN, you really feel the beat of their cities in them.
Additional Favorite Tracks (in no particular order):
I Walk on Your Water (AC Origins) Bro, the first time I heard this when AC Origins came out and I was playing the soundtrack while I cooked, hearing this song was like a religious experience. And when the scene where Layla first experiences Aya's memories and says the line herself -- breathless, exalted -- was like the Second Coming.
2. Fight Club (AC III)
RATOHNHAKÉ:TON MY BELOVED. Yo, when I tell you I was in love with this game and its music and main character YEARS before I even touched ACIII, I am not fucking kidding. I listened to this shit on repeat. It pumps me up like nothing else. It motivates me at work, when I'm writing, and when I'm training. This song is the shit. AND FUCK YEAH I LINKED YOU TO THE EXTENDED VERSION WHAT OF IT. It's high-energy and determined and FUN. It's like a really nice round of sparring where you beat the shit out of your opponent but you're both happy about it.
3. Committee of One (AC Unity)
Yo, when I started stalking the King of Thieves and this beat dropped, I knew this was gonna be a good fucking game. I felt the thrill and danger, but I also felt unstoppable. I was fully immersed in Arno strolling into the den of the rats, not to mention how the Unity version of Ezio's Family starts playing once you've killed the King and escape. I ran into Templar thugs on the street on purpose just to hear this while they chased me. That abyssal heartbeat (AC Unity soundtrack has a living, breathing pulse) that falls into the familiar strains of that violin, followed by that harpsichord? Chef's fucking kiss.
4. Legend of the Eagle Bearer (AC Odyssey)
You can feel the waves under your oars! You can hear the sun rise over the horizon as the water changes colors! You can hear the relentless drive of your rowers as dawn breaks and the early-morning silence slowly dwindles down. And when you break into a full flight, it feels like you've gone wild, on the chase.
5. City of Rome (AC Brotherhood)
Oldie but goodie. It's so calm and inviting, but promises you adventure. You really feel like you've stepped into a city that's already ancient, but has so much to offer.
Honorable Mention: Master Assassin from AC Brotherhood and Parting Glass, Anne Bonny in Black Flag version.
I am tagging @sprawca @especiallyhaytham @teecupangel @canonless5 @starpineninja but no pressure to do it! If I didn't tag you but you're also a trash Assassin's Creed aficionado, feel free to join in!
#note that i haven't played ac black flag in years and kind of just blasted through the game because i wasn't in the right headspace for it#same for freedom cry but i didn't even finish that one#i'll be revisiting freedom cry soon so i might fall in love with some more songs on that track#i am excite#god ubisoft is trash but there is so much to love about the soundtracks and imagery they use to set the scene#i'll die mad about it#assassin's creed#ac unity#ac iii#ac brotherhood#ac 2#ac 3#ac chronicles#ac rogue#ac odyssey#ac origins#shay#aya#bayek#ezio#connor#arno#kassandra

the attempts to go but you didnt complain about nioh is just pure strawman ( the notion that if you are okay with nioh ( which of course was made in japan) but not with yasuke as protagonist its somehow racism is just bs
"
Please stop comparing Nioh to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. William Adams was based on a real historical figure who ACTUALLY became a Samurai. It’s based in a fantastical world not meant to represent any sort of realism at all! Additionally, the game was created during a time where there was no ESG/DEI and the culture war stuff wasn’t as prevalent. So there was no hypersensitivity. AC: Shadows is pure pandering. Yasuke was never a samurai and it’s disrespectful that every single AC game had characters that culturally fit but soon as we get to Japan you gotta make it about a black man and his experience. Stop it
"
in regards to ac black flag

-Assassins Creed 1 was set in the middle east and featured an Arabian MC. -Assassins Creed 2 and its spin offs were set in Italy and featured an Italian MC. -Assassins Creed 3 was set in Colonial America and featured a mixed race Native American and English MC. -Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag was set in the Carribean dominated by Europeans and featured a white European MC. -Assassins Creed Unity was set in the revolutionary period of France and featured predominantly French MCs (one side character was a General under Napoleon who was a mixed race black creole, which is historically on point despite the fantasy element) -Assassins Creed Syndicate was set in London, England, and featured prominently British MCs. -Assassins Creed Origins was set in Egypt and featured an Egytian MC (two of em) -Assassins Creed Odyssey was featured in Ancient Greece and featured a Greek Macedonian MC -Assassins Creed Valhalla is set in scandianiva and featured a Scandinavian MC. Of all the Assassins Creeds to date, each has featured main characters native to their homelands, with the MCs embodying their respective cultural heritages. And what does this new Assassin Creed do? They give us a setting in Sengoku era Japan, with a token female ninja of unspecified origin and an African slave turned token retainer for Oda Nobunaga. Seriously? Why not have a full Japanese MC cast for your series and Yasuke as a badass side character instead like they did in Unity?

Just finished AC Odyssey Legacy of the First Blade. It was...ok. For as long as was it was it also seemed kind of rushed. There were several things I thought they shouldn't have done.
Spoilers Ahead
The love story between Natakas and the playable character seemed really fast and out of nowhere. I understand it was kind of necessary to be short for the game, but...eh.
My biggest aggravation was that Darius and Natakas stayed with Kassandra and just completely grew complacent, knowing the order was looking for them. They could have had a 'quiet' life, a house and baby and everything, and still been on the look out for the order looking for them. The fact that they were 'surprised' by the attack that led to Natakas dying and Elpidios being stolen was kind of dumb to me.
Especially the fact that Darius, who up till now has been nothing but a badass, suddenly needs rescuing. And the fact that Kassandra left her baby and husband to go save him, not knowing he actually needed help.
But also, where TF is Kassandra's family? No matter the ending you get, you should at least have Myrinne on your side. Why was none of Kassandra's family involved? In my playthrough she should have had the entire family, all of whom are good fighters, helping to protect her baby and husband. Are you seriously telling me that between Darius, Kassandra, and Alexios the Persian's would have been able to kill Natakas and steal Elpidios? There was literally hardly anyone there! I've singlehandedly taken down forts with more people in them!
I know this is all for the purpose of the story, but if you want to make it believable, there should have been a shit ton more Persians, a more dire situation leading to Natakas dying, a reason Kassandra's family wasn't anywhere nearby, and not make Darius suddenly a noob for no reason.
Or make Kassandra a more 'human' character so that you don't go through the whole game playing like the demi-god you are until it's plot-convenient for Kassandra to suddenly be a sub-par fighter.
Overall, the plot was fine, but I probably wouldn't ever play it again. The ending, showing how Darius takes Elpidios to Egypt and he ages and then transforms into his descendants leading to Aya was honestly cool. A+ on that part.
Holy shit, the Fate of Atlantis DLC is ANOTHER 15 hours? It's going to be July before I can play Mirage at this rate, jfc. I still need to get through Valhall and it's DLC's too. And that's not taking into account I skipped AC3 DLC because of bugs, AC 4, Rogue, and Unity to try and play Mirage on release.

What other games do you like other than fe3h?
HI ANON!! thank you for giving me the liberty to talk about my fav games :3
consoles note: i have/had the wii and wii u, new 3ds, ps3, ps4, ps5, and switch; i dont play much on my computer bc it's too weak to support big games :']
first of all, i'm a HUGE zelda fan. i dont post much about it anymore, but in 2017 ca i was veeery deep into zelda games (and zelink omg-), i played all of them save for triforce heroes (never got to manage to play multiplayer online, and playing solo is a pain in the ass). i can't pick ONE fav zelda game; i tend to divide them by 2d zelda games and 3d zelda games, and my fav orders are:
3d games
1) ocarina of time, breath of the wild (cant choose sorry)
2) twilight princess, skyward sword (again CANT CHOOSE! theyre too special to me)
3) wind's waker
4) majora's mask
5) tears of the kingdom
2d games
1) link's awakening
2) spirit tracks
3) a link to the past, link between worlds (cant choose ops)
4) echoes of wisdom
5) zelda I
6) minish cap
7) phantom hourglass
8) four swords / four swords adventures (i played both but i consider them basically the same game)
9) oracle of season, oracle of ages (sorry i'm a oracle saga hater 😔 but only because i firmly believe they both could have been MUCH better! so much wasted potential.....)
11) zelda II (the only zelda game i really DID NOT enjoy......)
note that this list is a preference based; i love (almost) all zelda games equally! they're all my babies 🥺
bonus warriors mention: i'm a bitch for musou games, and hyrule warriors was the game i played the most on my 3ds xD age of calamity is nice too. i love musou games!!!!!
another saga i'm really invested in is assassin's creed. yeah i know, a bit basic, but i'm a history and archaeology major so what did you expect :']
my favs are the ezio ones, especially AC2. and as an italian player who doesnt get to see ofter her own country in videogames, trust me when i say playing in florence, rome and venice was SO AWESOME. also ezio is babigirl and i love him a lot.
BUUUUUT, almost even with the ezio games is AC origins. i mean, ancient egypt?! i'm in!!! and bayek is a super solid main character (also daddy) and i loved his arc A VERY LOT!!!
altair (AC 1) is third place; i simply love the first AC game. still solid today imo
i didnt play much the america saga; i could never managed to bring myself to continue play ACIII, i hated it 😭 i tried to play it like, 4 times?, and i never got past the part with connor's dad. i find the gameplay awful and stupidly boring :// BUUUT i played and enjoyed AC rogue, the one where the MC is a templar dude: not bad, interesting plot, i'd say it's a 6.5/10
tbh unity IS NOT THAT BAD?? mind that i first played it in like 2018 so all the infamous cursed bugs were long gone. i dont even remember the face of the MC dude, but i do remember i liked eloise. and omg paris, and french revolution!!!! the gameplay is funny, so it's okay.
about syndicate, i dont remember much about it but i do remember i enjoyed it. it was nice, gameplay 7/10. also the MC girl was hot.
bonus chronicles mention: i never expected to say this, but platform assassin's creed works!! the china story was my fav :3
AC odyssey is a great action game and i enjoyed playing it a lot; but it's a TERRIBLE assassin's creed game. let me explain. you cant give me the multiple dialogue options and different endings when THE WHOLE POINT OF THE ASSASSIN'S CREED MODERN LORE IS THAT I'M RE-LIVING MY ANCHESTORS' PAST. if it's a PAST that someone ALREADY LIVED, you can't give me different dialogue options and DIFFERENT ENDINGS!!!!! note that i love assassin's creed as a saga, but the "present" plot (the one with desmund, the abstergo etc)? i hate it with all my heart, i dont care about it, i dont give a shit about desmond &co, i just want to play a nice story settled in the past!!!! but noooo they HAD to put the weird "templars and assassins are still here today and they're still fighting and here's a machine that reads your DNA and allows you to relive the past" plot, they TORTURED ME for YEARS of games with this stupid ass modern subplot... and THEN they give me a multi endings games?? so the whole "it's the past" shit doesnt mean SHIT?????? oh my god it's so annoying. i hate it. again, odyssey is a nice game, but really whats their fucking problem :// i will forever be mad about it lmao.
i didnt played valhalla and i dont really care about it, but i plan to play mirage asap. also, i can't wait for shadows :333
i have 1200+ hours on animal crossing new horizon. i dont think i need to elaborate further about it.
i played some of the metroid games, and let me tell you, samus did Something to my gender. still not sure what exactly; but something was done for sure. also i lived-watched the infamous nintendo direct where they announced metroid prime 4. AND I'M STILL WAITING
super paper mario was one of my favourite game when i was a child, i used to remember the tippi and count bleck backstory by MEMORY. i want to play it again-
back to fire emblem: i played sacred stones (8/10 game <3<3<3) and all the "new" ones. awakening and echoes shadow of valencia are my fav right after three houses: robin is So Important to me; and i think i'm one of the few people that actually enjoys echoes gameplay xD (and its soundtrack is FIRE!!! i listen to it when i study along with the three houses one!!)
fates? ehhhhh. let's just say i'm grateful for elise and jacob. but. that's it :////
engage? cute, forgot about it the next second i finished it; save for yunaka and ivy. they're my Wives
(lmao i forgot about heroes: of course i play heroes. i can have my army of little dimitris and byleths. i dont care it's a gatcha. it's perfect bc dimileth <3) (also sorry but the heroes plots are often better written and more interesting than the fates games LMAO-)
now a bit of yuzu lore: the first console i ever had was the wii, and it was a christmas gift when i was 12 and my two other siblings a bit younger. i was very excited bc i spent years asking for a nintendo DS (i wanted to play videogames!!) but my father was strictly against it. but then omg! one day "santa claus" finally brought us a wii! i could finally play videogames!!! well, two weeks after my mother asked for divorce to my father. :'] and yes she eventually admitted she bought us the wii to "try to console us" bc she already planned to ask for divorce (idk if it's questionable but it sure did work). anyway the following months were absolutely hell, my father refused to go away and he and my mother fought a lot and yadayada i had my first major depressive episode yadayada, normal stuff for divorced people's kids i guess. anyway my point is: that wii kept me (actually us, me and my siblings) company and helped us bond and stay together during some of the hardest time of our lives. and we played a lot mario kart wii, and some just dance games (3, 4, 2015 in particular). and after all this time, i'm still very attached to these games. when i play any just dance game i remember the days i spent trying to master some choreographies (days where i couldnt manage to go to school due to anxiety, but the Motivation To Master That Specific Song made me wake up from the bed at least); same for mario kart wii: me and my siblings still play mario kart a lot (now the switch one actually:'] ). so i'll count them between my fav games!
similar thing for super smash bros brawl (i mean it was along the Divorce Hell Period Games i played), but it got a very special spot in my heart, more than just dance and mario kart. me and my sibling (4 years younger than me) really bonded over that game at the time, and it was OUR first "big" contact with nintendo games. also my main were zelda+sheik and samus and YES, THEY DID SOMETHING TO MY GENDER. I DONT KNOW WHAT BUT THEY MADE SOMETHING TO ME-
i simply love baldur's gate 3. i played one tav run, and i'm currently working on two different durge runs. karlach is my wife :3
i'm also a huge nerd for monster hunter, even if i only played world and rise. i think i have like 500+ hours on world? man i love that game. my main weapon is the insect glaive: I LOVE JUMPING AROUND AND HAVING A LIL INSECT BUDDY!!!!! i also enjoy using the dual blades and the bow. also my internet nickname, "yuzu", is also the name of my MHworld character i made back in 2018 <3 rise was nice too but i will forever be a world girl. that game allowed me to reconnect with a friend when we were in high school, so it's special <3
i've never really got to play final fantasy until a few years ago. i played the 10th first, then the 8th, i started the 7th, and when the 16th came out last year i played it a bit with my boyfriend. since the 10th is my first, it's also my favourite obv :'] the 8th has a cool story, but here's the deal: i HATE the (original) combat system of final fantasy 😭 in my opinion, it has the worst parts of both action and strategy games: it's frenetic, but you have to select the move?? wtf is this 🤨 i guess that's why i enjoyed the 10th so much, since it's turn based for real, unlike the others. about the 16th: i played it just a bit, BUT I FREAKING LOVE IT!!! the combat system is so fun, and MAN the music!!!! i havent got the time to properly finish it bc "my" ps5 is actually my boyfriend's, and when i can play i prefer to play bg3 xD but i'll get to it one day or another :'] i'm curious to play the 7th remake, but i want to play the original first. i also started playing X-2, but after seeing the yuna idol scene, i turned off my playstation. i mean, what have they done to my girl ._.
bonus mention to skyrim (one of my first videogame on playstation), and horizon zero dawn <3
okay i cant think of anything else, but i'm sure i'll come up with something more as soon as i post this reply xD
again thank you for the ask anon! if you'd like to suggest me anything based on my reply, i'm all ears <3

Berakhot 10a:8. "The Ace of Face."
God says we need to be merciful and practical if we want to extend the olive bloom. Recall the Talmud "the very best dew of the Torah" is supposed to be a running commentary, a seminar on various topics from the Torah that pertain to that moment in Hebrew history when Moses and the others decided to leave Egypt and its regime behind forever.
We have not done this. As a race, we have not confronted the Pharaoh or the other confederates, broken the chains, thrown open the gates and made an orderly procession towards full enlightmentment on the other side of the unknown. Our failure to do this has abandoned billions to the whims of cruel, pitiless persons that have no plans to give God His Glory.
The Mishnah therefore says אלה הוא מינה "These he appointed to state the prophetic utterance, and to ask in Berisha, why is there a crime in need of punishment? Why did David flee from Absalom, the father of the days bound for the abyss? And why did he fly from sa ul, this one is a burden because of his iniquity? What is God's place in the flight?"
8. Leah Ho Mina said to Rabbi Abuhu, writing: "A psalm for David in his flight from the face of Absalom his son", and he wrote: "To David from their place in his flight from the face of Saul in the cave". What is the deed of the Lord? Why did Saul stay in Berisha, to write in Berisha.
King David is called the Ace, the Rapturous Falcon, a flyer by the Mishnah. He is not named in the Torah, but nonetheless gets plenty of exposure in the Tanakh. Even though David's kingdom was able to shelter the people of Israel during their time of need and the script even says he was able to make them happy, he was not known for being merciful or very pratical. During his reign no crimes went unpunished and in the naive calm before the storm he wrote the Psalms.
Then Solomon came along and unified the kingdoms of Middle Earth, and he completed the Torah. Within a short time, however, the Kingdom of Israel devolved into civil war, then there was the ancient world's equivalent of a world war and the Assyrians won, and Israel was no more.
The Mishnah says David's secret was he faced down and killed Absalom means "Father of the Abyss". Absalom means to chain a series of ideas to something deeply wicked. Absalom might be said to mean "father of peace and unity" and there is definitely a wicked way to make this happen. David's way was the one we preferred:
"Dry land is the mental foundation upon which we and our people can jointly stand. The deep, on the other hand, is wordless and thus personal and thus emotive. Feelings are of course wonderful things, but they're always unique to ourselves and our own hearts — which is why the heart is the most deceitful thing (Jeremiah 17:9).
Without words, our hearts are hopelessly disconnected from other hearts, and our feelings are ours alone. The magic of words is that words are collective things. Words are definitions that work for everybody, always, no matter how we feel.
Because words stay the same, independently of how we feel, we can capture our feelings in words and share them with others. Words are based on rules, and rules are agreements that rise above our own private feelings.
Feelings are lawless, and lawlessness binds people in chains of darkness (Acts 26:29, Ephesians 6:20). Words are lawful, and lawfulness sheds light in the darkness of feelings. Words, like love, binds people in living networks. That is why Jesus is the Word, who fulfills the Law (Matthew 5:17, Romans 13:8). Jesus' enemy is the Man of Lawlessness; the Man of Feelings (2 Thessalonians 2:3).
Since reason is enlightenment and joint reason equals standing on dry land in the bright light of day, the deep is utterly dark and breathless (i.e. spirit-less; see πνευμα, pneuma). When Peter sank away in the sea (Matthew 14:30), he basically became overwhelmed by a wordless and spiritless mass of feelings. Jesus, on the other hand, walked on water, and so mimicked the Holy Spirit in the beginning (Genesis 1:2), and the Ark of Noah upon the Great Flood (Genesis 7:17).
It's important that the reader understands that these are not metaphors but self-similarities. A metaphor compares one thing with another thing, even though the second thing has nothing to do with the first thing.
A self-similarity, on the other hand, describes two things that are both integral parts of one and the same dynamic system, and have come into being via the exact same process.
The veins of a leaf and the branches of a tree are self-similar; you have one because you have the other. The irregular shape of kernels of sand on the beach is self-similar to the irregular shape of the landmass of a coast on a map; you have one because you have the other.
We modern westerners tend to depict soul and mind as "things" that exist within the body like wine in a glass. The Bible, on the other hand, depicts mind as self-similar to space, particles to words and the continuum of time to the continuum of human experience. To the Bible, the mind is the canopy of veiny leaves that grow from the many branches of the tree that is the body.
Said otherwise, mind, like electricity, is an emergent property of matter, that has existed always as an defining part of matter, and may be bundled like gravity, when material structures rise above a critical level of complexity.
To the Bible, words are literally bits of congealed mind, that link together into objects that are thoughts, that stack together into the worlds in which we live. And that is not a metaphor."
David also faced Saul, Jonathan's father, and took the son for himself. Similar to David's confrontation with his own son, we prefer David's ways over those of his role models and the rotten fruits of his own actions.
The Gemara says then we must face down the cold, emotionless way we are approach the publication of peace. Second it says karma is often a bitch. Sometimes people need to get what they have asked for. Observe the etymology for Saul- "an entreaty for decomposition and death."
"The verb שאל (sha'al) means to ask. Noun שאלה (she'la) means request or petition, and noun משאלה (mish'ala) means petition or desire. The difficult noun שאול (she'ol) refers primarily to the grave and by extension to death and decomposition."
I believe the Mishnah and the Gemara are telling us what we must do to achieve the Mashiach in record time. We are confronting beauty with ugliness, peace with war, crime with bountiful rewards. These are easy missteps to fix. We cannot give King David a place of renown in our history and then fail to follow his strategy and turn a dissonant sounding world into a work of psalmody.
Some of us will appreciate what happens next, some will not.
The Value in Gematria is 8625, חובה, "the debt, the duty, the obligation is a must."
Our first duties are clear, we must obey the law and do so objectively. Mercy is as objective; everyone deserves another chance at life, until they deserve retribution. If a man begs for his life one is obligated to return it. If his actions beg for destruction, that one is obligated to destroy him. It depends on which face he wears.

CGI trailer without gameplay aside (which is a time-honoured AC tradition) I am excited for Assassin's Creed Shadows. I'm not ashamed to admit the fact that Ubisoft has got me. They made the perfect storm of concepts that appeal to me and distilled it into pure just-above-mediocre popcorn play. You see, I love me some history, I love me some mythology, and I love me some "secret history of the world" bullshit. And when you mix all that together with a narrative that's never outright terrible, you get the keycode to my brain's dopamine centres.
Every single time I think I'm done with the franchise they get me. After Revelations, they got me with playing during the American Revolution. After that, they got me with pirates. And even though Unity burned me so much I skipped Syndicate, they got me with the triple combo of Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and Vikings. And now, there ain't no way I'm passing up a chance to play as goddamn Yasuke in Sengoku Era Japan.
I'm a sucker for a ‘stranger in a strange land’ type story, and with an additional player character in the same campaign that is native to the ‘strange land’ in question, it's gonna provide a lot of interesting narrative avenues. Also, I unapologetically love the ever-increasing amount of mythological nonsense the AC games have pumped into their stories. Because who doesn’t want to pillage Early Medieval England while dual-wielding Mjolnir and Excalibur? A liar, that’s who. And guess what? When it comes to interesting and expansive mythologies, Japan is up there near the top.
I already have my perfectly polished, amazing-to-control, tightly-written historical samurai game and it’s called Ghost of Tsushima. Now I'm ready for a janky, way-too-open world that still manages to be pleasant to look at and explore while cutting a bloody swathe through it with unbalanced combat while a so-so narrative unfolds, and cool mystical ancient alien bullshit is thrown at me from every angle.
Oh, and of course, I’m ready to wait about a year for it to be discounted/added to PS Plus.

Prepare for Assassin’s Creed Mirage with up to 80% off the full series
What better way to get ready for Assassin's Creed Mirage than by taking a journey through the series' history? Fortunately, the game's creator, Ubisoft, comes through with a massive Assassin's Creed sale that offers up to 80% off all the titles ahead of the release of Assassin's Creed Mirage, along with titles like Far Cry and The Division. You have a ton of options with some of the best open-world games available, ranging from the original game to Assassin's Creed Valhalla. If you’re excited for the promise of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage length coming in a lot shorter than recent entries, with a return to the classic format of the series that was more pure action than the vast open-world RPG games of more recent years, then you might want to revisit those early titles such as Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad’s outing in the debut of the series, or the beloved Ezio trilogy beginning with Assassin’s Creed 2. Those of you who are deeply invested in the lore might decide that you want to catch up on Mirage protagonist Basim’s initial appearance. The upcoming lead plays a fairly significant role in the recent Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, so that’s the one to check out if you want to make sure you’re fully caught up on his history, although you’ll still be able to play Mirage without making that big commitment if you prefer. There are even bundles for each era of the series, and an ‘Animus pack’ containing basically all the major entries. While it clocks in at $143.75 / £120, you do get a whopping 17 games for that price, so you’ll probably be busy for the next year or more if you’ve never tried the series before. Perhaps don’t attempt to play them all at once. Finally, there’s even the option to pick up the ‘Discovery Tour’ versions of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla at a discount. These are included in the base games if you buy those, but if you don’t actually have a penchant for the violence of the actual Assassin’s Creed games they allow you to explore the beautiful worlds of ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, and the Viking Age in an educational mode aimed at teaching you about the real-world history of the regions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G97lx7orMN8 Assassin’s Creed sale Here are all the deals in the Assassin’s Creed sale, which runs until September 5, 2023: - Assassin’s Creed Animus Pack – $143.75 / £120 (75% off) - Assassin’s Creed – $5 / £2.15 (75% off) - Assassin’s Creed Ezio Auditore Pack (AC 2, AC Brotherhood, AC Revelations) – $11.60 / £9.86 (71% off) - Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered – $10 / £8.50 (75% off) - Assassin’s Creed American History Pack (AC 3, AC Liberation Remastered, AC 4: Black Flag, AC Freedom Cry, AC Rogue) – $28 / £24.50 (65% off) - Assassin’s Creed Rogue Deluxe Edition – $9 / £7.80 (70% off) - Assassin’s Creed Unity – $7.50 / £6.50 (75% off) - Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Gold Edition – $15 / £14.75 (75% 0ff) - Assassin’s Creed Modern Revolutions (AC Unity + DLC, AC Syndicate Gold Edition) – $18 / £17 (80% off) - Assassin’s Creed Origins Deluxe Edition – $14 / £11.80 (80% off) - Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Gold Edition – $20 / £16.80 (80% off) - Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Ragnarök Edition – $30 / £25.20 (70% off) - Assassin’s Creed Mythology Pack (AC Origins, AC Odyssey, AC Valhalla) – $32 / £26.60 (80% off) - Assassin’s Creed Discovery Tour Bundle (Ancient Egypt, Ancient Egypt, Viking Age) – $19.25 / £16.45 (65% off) You can find all these deals, and more for other Ubisoft games including Far Cry, The Division, Anno, and Ghost Recon right here in the Ubisoft Gamescom sale. We’ve also got more of the best action-adventure games on PC if you’re looking for other alternatives, or you can save yourself even more money without skimping on the fun and grab the best free PC games you can play in 2023. Hi, did you play every AC game? If yes, in term of game plays which are the easiest? For someone without much experience in games, ty!
Not every AC game, because I can handle only so much of cookie cutter games at a time. Before I say more, lemme get this out of the way first: I played the Ezio trilogy back in 2018 because Da Vinci’s Demons was cancelled and I wanted more Da Vinci content and the white and red hoodie looks cool. In other words, I didn’t play the game because it’s called Assassin’s Creed.
The AC games I played so far, by the order of which one I play first. I’ll rate gameplay by my personal preferences (because it’s the only way I know how).
Ezio’s trilogy (AC2, AC Brotherhood, AC Revelations, played in 2018): decent parkour, minimal grind (just invest in the villa and you’re a millionaire in a day or two), very story focused (perfect balance of historical and modern plots). Decent combat. The golden years of AC and I agree.
Unity (played a few months after Ezio): good parkour, medium grind (bigger map and more items to upgrade, you still get to invest in properties so it helps). Time-saver items are on sale for real money aka MTX (ew). Combat is ok, not much difference since Ezio. Historical story is meh (I don’t care for Arnold because Elise’s story is more interesting) and they completely ditched the modern plot (you think Odyssey has little modern day plot, try Unity). Buggiest AC game I encountered and I played this game 4+ yrs after launch (hold on to that thought, keep reading). Ubi spent all of their time and budget doing the interior design (which is gorgeous btw) that they have none left to fix the bugs.
Black Flag (a few months after): chasing flying papers is my favorite activity to NOT do. Grindy af (no property investment). I can’t tolerate the controls for the ship so I hate everything that involves ship in this pirate game, except for sea shanties. You’ll have more fun playing this game as a pirate than an assassin. Combat feels the same since Ezio. Other mechanics are like Unity (understandable). Modern plot is minimal, but it makes bloodline irrelevant and there’s a....soul inside a computer server that wants to possess a human body, meanwhile said soul’s husband is a maniac who has unlimited reincarnations (realism, I know). Black Flag is the gateway game that convinces me that I should stop wasting my brain cells in “what kinda bs realism is dis?”
Odyssey (a month after launch, bought solely because of Kassandra also when I heard Odyssey is set before the creed, oh fuck yea I don’t need to sit through another rehash of Creed crap or at least minimal anyway): oh gods a breath of fresh air from the old controls where you have to hold R2 whenever you want to run and my fingers hurt sfm. Climbing is the best because the protag actually moves where you want them to move. MTX (ew). Grindy but because the combat and movements are smooth, best combat so far; I don’t see Odyssey as grindy because I enjoy my time playing (also Kassandra); I platinum the game on PS4 at around 130 hrs I think, could’ve been earlier but photomode. Fun quests that I giggle whenever thinking about them (I don’t remember shit about any quests in any other AC game, but then again Kassandra). People bitch about no parkour but who parkour in the 450BCE?!?!? Full disclosure: I never cared for parkour and never will. I stop caring for modern plot after how Unity and Black Flag handled it. Playing Odyssey makes me realize that I enjoy AC games more if idgaf for the AC aspect, rather, I play for the fictional historical tourism aspect. Just ditch the AC and voila, blue sky and fresh air. Playing Odyssey also makes me realize that I want a spin-off IP that focus on the Isu so we can go full fantasy. Do I need to say how pretty Odyssey is? lol
Origins (planned to play Origins first, but Kassandra. Also, I remember Amunet from AC2, but somehow we play as a dude in Ancient Egypt, I’m not too eager to find out, despite I prefer Egyptian mythology over Greek and I’d like to thank Yu-gi-oh for that): combat is clunky, heavy, and slow, though no need to hold R2 to run so phew. Grindy af. The bow mechanics is a decade outdated (Horizon Zero Dawn came out the same year and oh boi the difference is night and day, oh yea I played HZD before Origins. I get it the bow isn’t the focus but does it have to feel like Skyrim in 2017?). I’m glad I play this game for the Ancient Egypt (which is beautifully designed *chef kiss*) aspect and no more.
Syndicate (I play this along side of Origins, still haven’t finished it though. Literally bought the game for Evie and I nut over Victorian fashion): combat is no different from Unity. Grindy like Black Flag and Unity. Story is meh in both historical and modern plot so far. Evie is the only reason I’m still trying to play this game. At least the Helix outfits are included in the Gold edition of the game. Victorian London is gorgeous tho.
Valhalla (only care for this game because Eivor. Tbh after God of War and Hellblade, idc for another Viking game): game is buggy af, buggiest AC game I’ve played. Combat is like Origins but worse: the only saving grace is the finishing move & the bow mechanic hasn’t been improved since Origin; I honestly would rather have combat from the Ezio games over whatever-this-is. You have to toggle a button to run now, which is dumb af because I miss Origins and Odyssey automatic run. They bring parkour back (because Vikings totally dig parkour back in the Dark Ages) as well as the-character-doesn’t-move-where-you want-them-to from the older games. Chasing flying papers from black flag is back, no thx. Looting enemies is useless, but hey you get to run around to look for a key or two or THREE to get some minimal amount of materials; so imagine if 2/3 of every chest in Origins and Odyssey are locked. Oh! You have manually pick berries/food to heal, no healing potion, wtf is this half-ass RPG shit? Side quests, oh sorry World Events, aren’t tracked in an open-world game (guess who hasn’t been doing these bitches?). Grindy af. I’m wasting my time looking at the skill points interface (you have 99 lv in Odyssey, 55 in Origins, 403 power in Valhalla. A game doesn’t feel like grindy if you level up every 2 quests for 403 times, does it? lololol). The useless SP tree is so massive that I just don’t use the skills I acquire because it takes too much time to find out which buttons to push to locate the 10 skills in this 403-dot clusterfuck, but the astronomy design is beautiful (gotta give credit when it’s due). Scummy practice from Ubi: releasing “time-saver” pack AFTER reviews are published. Also, who wanna bet there will be more mtx outfits than in-game outfits? Don’t worry, Ubi makes inventory management cLEaNeR for you *hands over 8 outfits for an RPG game*. The free event bugs tf out of your already buggy event, but hey, you’ll get a free outfit that’s a reskin of what you already have, teeheee be grateful. Eivor is amazing but by the gods playing this game is a chore. Tbh I only play Valhalla if I don’t feel like playing Ghost of Tsushima that day. Lastly, why is England so yellow like it’s Ancient Egypt?!?!? And why the sunlight moves faster than Eivor’s running at full speed? Which parts of this game does realism count?!?!?!?
Unsolicited opinion: GoT is an example of how an AC game should be and how DLCs should be handled, but with Ubisoft it will never be and I’m so fucking glad that it is Sucker Punch Prod which handles feudal Japan with utmost respect and realism. See how “honor” is handled in both games and compare the writing. Ubisoft should have announced ding dong AC is dead and create a new IP, but AC is their most financially successful franchise so expect more of this MTX, I mean, grindy RPG approach with minimal narrative.

Ranking all the Assassin’s Creed game I’ve played
I’m not done with Odyssey yet but I really doubt my opinion on the game is gonna in the near future UNLESS they pull something completely awesome ... which I really doubt they’ll do. My criteria on how good the game is is very specific and has changed over the years, so the points i’m judging it on may seem a little weird.
Here’s what I’m going for: Overall gameplay, story, characters, environmental WOAH factor, worldbuilding outside of the animus, is there boat combat and a final score at the end
Assassin’s Creed (The OG)
Which I didn’t get to finish because the game glitched out. Score is not gonna be perfect because the game was extremely repeditive, there were no real missions BUT it was the first one so i’m giving it a pass.
Overall gameplay 3/10
Story 7/10
Characters 6/10
Environmental WOAH factor 4/10
Worldbuilding outside of the animus 9/10
Is there boat combat? No
Final Score 5/10
Assassin’s Creed 2 (Pasta Edition)
Downgrade graphicswise but big big upgrade gameplay wise. Fun side missions and side characters. I had a great time with that game
Overall gameplay 7/10
Story 7/10
Characters 9/10
Environmental WOAH factor 6/10
Worldbuilding outside of the animus 8/10
Is there boat combat? No
Final Score 7/10
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (Pasta Edition 2)
My absolute favorite game of the series for a long long time (even after newer games came out) Loved the map, loved the characters, loved being able to hire, train and manage new assassin helpers. Bring that shit back Ubisoft! (Or give me a remaster please with better climbing mechanics)
Overall gameplay 9/10
Story 8/10
Characters 9/10
Environmental WOAH factor 7/10
Worldbuilding outside of the animus 8/10
Is there boat combat? No
Final Score 9/10
Assassin’s Creed Revelations (Kebab Edition)
Believe me when I say, I beat this game in 10 hours and I have no idea how. Another good game, lots of new and exciting mechanics, Story was a tiny bit lackluster. Either way, good times
Overall gameplay 8/10
Story 6/10
Characters 8/10
Environmental WOAH factor 8/10
Worldbuilding outside of the animus 7/10
Is there boat combat? No
Final Score 7/10
Assassin’s Creed 3 (Revenge Edition)
This is where it starts to get bad. Like actually bad. I have no idea what the fuck they thought about when making this game but OH MAN. Such boring characters, with a boring story and little to no actual assassinating. Big nope
Overall gameplay 7/10
Story 4/10
Characters 5/10
Environmental WOAH factor 3/10
Worldbuilding outside of the animus 9/10
Is there boat combat? Yes
Final Score 5/10
Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag (Pirate Game TM)
Let me just say that this is in no way an assassin’s creed game. This is a pirate game. You go to places on the giant empty map with your boat and you fight against other boats. The only good thing about this game, is the time you spend outside of the animus. That’s it
Overall gameplay 3/10
Story 2/10
Characters -1/10
Environmental WOAH factor 4/10
Worldbuilding outside of the animus 10/10
Is there boat combat? Yes and I hate it
Final Score 2/10
Assassin’s Creed Unity (Baguette Edition)
I couldn’t play this game. I let couldn’t. Not cuz it’s bad (it is bad) but because the port was so terrible. I glitched through several roofs in the first 30 minutes, it lagged like crazy and i just dreaded the entire experience. I bought A NEW PC FOR THIS GAME and it didn’t work. Gave up after 3 hours.
Overall gameplay 0/10
Story 0/10
Characters 0/10
Environmental WOAH factor 0/10
Worldbuilding outside of the animus 0/10
Is there boat combat? ????
Final Score Didn’t finish/10
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (Marmite Edition)
GOOD GAME GOOD GAME GOOD GAME. Real good. Back to the roots. One city, one map, everything is immediately accessable. You can go where ever you want, whenever you want. You can pick between playing two different characters??? WHHAAA. Played as Evie 90% of the game cuz I am finally ALLOWED TO STEALTH KILL PROPERLY AGAIN
Overall gameplay 9/10
Story 7/10
Characters 10/10
Environmental WOAH factor 7/10
Worldbuilding outside of the animus 0/10 (there was not one moment you where outside of the animus and i was SAD)
Is there boat combat? No
Final Score 8/10
Assassin’s Creed Origin (Tears of joy Edition)
When I first heard that Ubisoft was gonna rework AC for Origins I was very sceptical about all the changes they were planning. Syndicate was extremely good and I was worried they’d fuck it up again when they just found their way back to what made me love AC in the first place. Origins was an experience. Just so so well designed, sound, environment, characters, story elements. The 10 year old ancient egypt obsessed kid in me was yelling the entire time. Also the game felt extremely mystic WITHOUT being straight up high fantasy
Overall gameplay 9/10
Story 9/10
Characters 8/10
Environmental WOAH factor 100000/10
Worldbuilding outside INSIDE of the animus 10/10 (THE TEMPLES AND ISU LOGS, LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????)
Is there boat combat? Yes but it was fine
Final Score 9/10
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (Pirate Game TM V2)
The game is ... okay. The environment is very boring. Characters are very bland or over the top and i don’t know who is who. It really didn’t have to have these fucking choice options tbh. It takes you out of the moment. I don’t like that they reworked the weapon system again. The entire battle between Athens and Sparta and you being able to participae in it is a waste of time. The armour loot you get is not even that special because you get newer and better shit after 20 minutes??? The cult thing is fun, also hunting headhunters. Why is there cyclops’ and medusa in the game. i don’t understand
Overall gameplay 6/10
Story 4/10
Characters 3/10
Environmental WOAH factor 1/10
Worldbuilding outside of the animus 1/10
Is there boat combat? Yes and I wanna die
Final Score 5/10
#Assassin's Creed#AC#ubisoft#i may shit on AC a lot but it is still one of my favorite game series of all time

Having played all the Main Assassin’s Creed games, here’s a little rundown for those of you who are suddenly, for no reason whatsoever, getting interested.
In each AC, you play someone who is exploring their genetic past and reliving the memories of their ancestor. From AC4 Black Flag on wards the meta isn’t as important. Basically two factions (the Assassins and the Templars) fight for the control and destiny of humanity with lots of hidden mythos.
Desmond is the (modern) guy you play in AC1, AC2 (+ Brotherhood + Revelations) and AC3.
You can technically play AC1 and AC3 separatly but the three games that compose AC2 are best played in order.
AC1: Crusades time, you explore the memories of badass assassin Altair. Yepe, Arab side ;)
AC2: The full story of Ezio Auditore, born (1459) and raised in Florence Italy, during the full blown Renaissance (with all the politics, sneaky kills, decadence, arts, and DAVINCI and Machiavelli and fucking Torquemada and POPES and Borgias!). From his teen years to his old age. Over the three games you get to visit Florence, Venice, the Vatican, Rome, rural Tosca, and Constantinople.
AC3: MURIKA? FKC YEHA Just before the American independence you get to be a native American! as it’s spelled in French, Ratonhnhaké:ton, goes by the name Connor when not in the tribes.
Then you stop playing Desmond (not saying why) and play other protagonists exploring the memories of other ancestors in relationship to the two orders.
AC4 Black Flag: PIRATES in the Caribbeans with ships and merchants and islands and blocus and trolls! In this game you play Connor’s grandfather (so it chronologically happens before AC3).
AC Unity: French Revolution (1789)! All hell breaks loose in Paris, all of the terror, all of the things. You get to play Arno who became an Assassin to try and find the guy who killed his mentor. Unity is the first game which has buildings be 100% scale (others were smaller than the real deal).
AC Syndicate : British Industrial Revolution 1868! This game has two protags, a set of twin (female and male). Badass gritty ambiance of gangs, poverty and loooots of tycoons ;)
AC Origins! Ptolemeic Egypt (aka Cleopatra VII, aka Julius Cesar, aka circa -50). You get to play two protags too (husband and wife) but you play more often the guy than the badass girl, sadly. BUT YOU GET TO GLIDE DOWN THE FREAKING PYRAMIDS. And you PET CATS!
Games that are games but aren’t main games also exist (Liberation which is only for the Vita and has a female protag, and Rogue which happens just after AC4 and where you do not play an Assassin but a Templar).
There’s also spinoffs but not gonna talk about them either :p
The controls are refined over the different games, obviously, AC1 having the less.. let’s say Altair isn’t exactly obedient with what you want him to do :p
@unidentifiedspoon for you <3
