Manhattan Bound A Train | On a bustling New York City subway, an expectant father stands out in a sea of commuters. His round, prominent belly is the centerpiece, straining against the snug white tank top he's chosen for the day. Next to him, his boyfriend juggles a couple of grocery bags, clearly used to this unique daily rhythm. As the train halts, a mix of curious glances and casual indifference surrounds them—some passengers on the platform wait impatiently for their ride, while others steal intrigued looks at the couple. The subway’s fluorescent lights catch the pregnant man's expression, revealing a blend of excitement and fatigue. There’s an electric energy in the air, a hint of the adventure ahead. Wrapped in each other’s support, they embody a modern love story, making the subway their unexpected runway. As the doors hover in anticipation of opening, their journey is just beginning. Since y'all liked that post about Tesla removing the gear selectors in their cars, did you also know that Elon Musk is promising v12.0 of Autopilot Full Self Driving will be "much better" than previous versions. He's claiming it will be the first version without the "Beta" label and will be basically as good or better than a human driver. To show this off, he took to Twitter Live and streamed a 45-minute drive from Twitter HQ to Mark Zuckerburg's house. Live doxxing aside, the best part of this live stream was
A: When the vehicle came to a stop at a red light, waited a few seconds, and then attempted to run the red light while traffic was actively going through the intersection, causing Musk to slam on the brakes and deactivate the system.
B: When the vehicle got caught in a Yellow Light and was taking way longer than necessary to stop, prompting a verbal "I hope it stops," panic from Musk.
Full Self Driving my ass.

Therac-25: *exists. Injures many*
Engineers of the past: aw damn. Better not put to much faith in software. It might override its safeguards and kill people! Thanks for the lesson Therac-25!!
Self aggrandizing software bitches: Self driving cars! Remove human error! No mechanical input!
Therac-25: wait. Have you learned NOTHING FROM ME?!
Self driving car enthusiast: We give the robot moral tests to make it choose between killing a baby and a grandma!
Any person with a lick of sense: Just.... Just drive off the road if you can... Bro!
Car bitch: THE CAR STAYS ON THE ROAD! THINK OF THE TROLLEY PROBLEM
Engineers: WE SOLVED THAT!
Another insulting name that I'm using in place of people like Elon Musk: YAY TECHNOLOGY! HUMANS ARE WEAK AND OBSOLETE I AM GOD!

Newsflash, China kinda is already fucking ruling the world lmfao
Tumblr media
you know that thing that faux progressive liberals will do where they're like
"look, i'm completely against the chauvanistic attitude that the USA should rule the world. but if the USA doesn't rule the world, then Russia and China will! I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the USA rule the world than Xinnie and POOtin! and that's why it is imperative to maintain global USA hegemony forever and ever at absolutely any cost."
like, why do they say that shit at the beginning if they're just going to immediately contradict it?????? if you actually love usamerican hegemony and chauvanism, just say that!

this is just my opinion but i think any good media needs obsession behind it. it needs passion, the kind of passion that's no longer "gentle scented candle" and is now "oh shit the house caught on fire". it needs a creator that's biting the floorboards and gnawing the story off their skin. creators are supposed to be wild animals. they are supposed to want to tell a story with the ferocity of eating a good stone fruit while standing over the sink. the same protective, strange instinct as being 7 and making mud potions in pink teacups: you gotta get weird with it.
good media needs unhinged, googling-at-midnight kind of energy. it needs "what kind of seams are invented on this planet" energy and "im just gonna trust the audience to roll with me about this" energy. it needs one person (at least) screaming into the void with so much drive and energy that it forces the story to be real.
sometimes people are baffled when fanfic has some stunning jaw-dropping tattoo-it-on-you lines. and i'm like - well, i don't go here, but that makes sense to me. of fucking course people who have this amount of passion are going to create something good. they moved from a place of genuine love and enjoyment.
so yeah, duh! saturday cartoons have banger lines. random street art is sometimes the most precious heart-wrenching shit you've ever seen. someone singing on tiktok ends up creating your next favorite song. youtubers are giving us 5 hours of carefully researched content. all of this is the impossible equation to latestage capitalism. like, you can't force something to be good. AI cannot make it good. no amount of focus-group testing or market research. what makes a story worth listening to is that someone cares so much about telling it - through dance, art, music, whatever it takes - that they are just a little unhinged about it.
one time my friend told me he stayed up all night researching how many ways there are to peel an orange. he wrote me a poem that made me cry on public transportation. the love came through it like pith, you know? the words all came apart in my hands. it tasted like breakfast.

Is Facial Recognition the Future of Public Transport in Dubai?
Dubai is known for being a city that embraces new technologies to make life easier, and now it’s taking things a step further by addingĀ facial recognitionĀ to its public transport system. The Dubai Metro will soon be using this technology as part of an effort to improve security and make commuting more convenient for everyone.
The new system will work with the Metro’s existing CCTV cameras, adding artificial intelligence to help monitor stations and trains. But the most exciting part is the installation of smart gates that use facial recognition. This means commuters won’t need to carry a physical card or even tap a digital one anymore. Instead, they can just walk up to the gates, have their face scanned, and be on their way.
A More Convenient Way to Travel
Getting rid of physical cards might seem like something out of a sci-fi movie, but it’s happening in Dubai. With the newĀ facial recognition system, passengers can just walk through the gates and get on the Metro without having to worry about remembering to tap a card or buy a ticket. This will make the whole process much faster and more convenient, especially during busy hours when there are long lines.
For those who use the Metro frequently or for tourists, this will make the experience much easier. You won’t need to worry about losing a Metro pass or forgetting to top it up. Once your face is registered in the system, you can just walk through the gates without any extra steps.
Increased Security for Commuters
Another important reason Dubai is introducing facial recognition is to improve security. The new AI-powered cameras will constantly monitor stations and trains, allowing the authorities to spot potential problems or dangerous situations faster. This means they can respond quickly to any security issues and help ensure that everyone feels safe while traveling.
The system will also help reduce crime by allowing security to track any suspicious behavior and respond before a situation escalates. It’s all part of making public transport safer for everyone who uses it.
What’s Next for Public Transport in Dubai?
So, is facial recognition the future of public transport in Dubai? It certainly looks like it. Dubai is already one of the most tech-forward cities in the world, and adding facial recognition to its Metro system is just another example of how the city is integrating new technologies to improve daily life. This system could eventually be used for other types of public transport too, like buses or taxis.
Dubai’s goal of becoming a ā€œsmart cityā€ means connecting everything, from transportation to government services, using advanced technology. This facial recognition system is a perfect fit for that vision, offering a more efficient, secure, and user-friendly experience for everyone.
In conclusion,Ā facial recognition in Dubai’s public transport system is not just about making travel more convenient, but also about improving security. With this new system, traveling on the Metro will be faster, safer, and much simpler, showing that Dubai is leading the way when it comes to smart city technology.

Public Transport $0.50 Fare Programme
According to Copilot, the Public Transport $0.50 Fare Programme of the Queensland state government is expected to cost around $150 Million in lost fare revenue over the 6-month trial period.
To determine the extra passenger traffic required to make the project viable in the future, several factors need to be considered, including: • Current Fare Revenue: Understanding the baseline revenue from fares before the trial. • Operational Costs: The cost of running the public transport system, including maintenance, staff salaries, and fuel. • Passenger Increase: The number of additional passengers needed to offset the reduced fare revenue. • Economic Benefits: Potential indirect benefits such as reduced road congestion, lower emissions, and increased productivity from easier commutes.
The success of the programme will depend on: • whether the increase in passenger numbers can compensate for the reduced fare revenue; and • whether the broader economic benefits justify the cost.
The government will likely monitor these metrics closely during the trial to make an informed decision about its future viability.
