Jealousy pt. 2

A/N: another update whatt 👀 here is the long awaited part 2 of jealousy! I hope you like it @softiebadbitch! I've written a couple more one shots, which are currenlty in my drafts, but I'm gonna be spreading them over the next couple weeks (at least try to because I'm so impatient af) since I have finals and not much time to come up with complete new story ideas.

Genre: maybe a bit of angst? Fluff

He shouldn’t mind, he never spared it any thought before, so why did it bother him now so much? He’s used to your extreme friendliness, so why was it that he was only now getting annoyed by it? Was it because of Laxus? It couldn’t possibly be, he trusted the both of you with his whole heart. The only thing he was certain of was the fact that something didn’t sit right with him when he saw you and Laxus return from the job, shoving each other playfully around. He shouldn’t be surprised that you managed to crack Laxus, you had that effect on people after all, but for him also to break so easily? It just didn’t feel right.

“There you are!” your angelic voice filled his ears, and all of his worries he that had occupied his mind only seconds ago, suddenly seemed to vanish when you placed a short sweet kiss on his lips as a way of saying hello.

“How was the job?” Freed smiled down at you as he waited for you extravagant explanation you always gave when you returned from a mission.

“Laxus was totally exaggerating, he could’ve easily done the job by himself” You playfully roll your eyes at how he made it sound like you were the only one who could’ve helped him with the job “but it was fun! I finally got to see a more personal side of Laxus. I now truly understand why you admire him so much. He really is an amazing mage and surprisingly funny too!”

On the outside, the green-haired mage nodded along as you kept explaining all the ‘cool’ stuff Laxus did during the mission, while on the inside he wanted nothing more but for you to stop talking. He was acting petty, he knew it, he just couldn’t help himself “sounds like you two had a lot of fun, how about we end the day with a home-cooked meal and a movie?”

Freed was ready to leave these weird feelings behind and just bask in your love and affection, but you seemed to have other plans, quite literally for that matter “I would love to, but Laxus had already asked me to join him for some drinks to celebrate the success of the job”

“I see” he pressed his lips in a thin line as his eyes trailed towards the blonde mage. He knew he and his two other friends were planning something by the way they were talking and sneaking a glance at the two of you every so often. He just hadn’t quite figured out what. Did they have a bet that you wouldn’t be able to crack Laxus? Or was it something different?

He opted for the second option when Laxus appeared by your side, not sparing Freed even a glance “You ready to go?” The way Laxus hand rested on your lower back to guide you out of the guild, made the hairs on his arms stand up, but he refused to show any hint of annoyance.

“Bye, love, see you tonight!” You called out to Freed as you let Laxus guide you out of the guild.

The following days, the uneasy feeling never left Freed, in fact, it only got worse. He could feel his calm and composed act break, but he didn’t care. The anxiety and jealousy he was feeling were much more important than a stupid image. He still couldn’t wrap his head around what was going, and perhaps that was the most frustrating part of it all.

He shouldn’t feel jealous, he knows he shouldn’t. He knew you two would never do something to hurt you, he knew that deep down, and yet his mind kept playing tricks on him, sending him down the dark rabbit hole known as doubt.

It was only when Laxus willingly gave you a hug, that he decided he had enough “Okay, what the actual fuck is going on”

You were taken aback by the strong language coming out of your boyfriend's mouth. You didn’t know whether to be more shocked at the fact that he raised his voice out of nowhere or the fact that he just cussed at you. “I- What?”

“What’s going on between you two? And don’t you dare say nothing. You’re suddenly best buddies out of nowhere and decide to never leave each other alone for more than a second after that. Didn’t you two think that was at least a bit suspicious? You better come clean with me right now, or so help me God” Freed’s eyes were literally shooting fire as they darted between you and Laxus.

You had never seen this side of your boyfriend, and it kind of terrified you. Terrified by how he suddenly blew up without any warning. Did he give you any signs this past week? Were you being a horrible significant other for not hesitating for a moment and take his feelings into account? You should’ve known, but then again, why hasn’t this happened before considering you’re like this with everyone else too?

“Freed, I-“ You were still somewhat speechless, and before you could even sincerely apologize, you heard Bickslow cheering from behind you “finally!”

You whipped your head back so quick, you’re surprised it didn’t give you whiplash as you looked at him and evergreen who were now approaching you three “Took you long enough”

“It’s still less than a week” Laxus shrugged nonchalantly. Freed had cooled down a bit, but his eyes still held a hint of rage in them, “what the hell is going on?”

“Oh my, Freed, you sure get a foul mouth when you break your façade” Evergreen snickered while the said mage shot her a death glare, absolutely not in the mood for her snarky remarks.

“Can someone please tell me, us-” your eyes darted towards Freed for a mere second when you said that before eying your other friends again “-what is going on?

“Right, right. So, Evergreen over here was confused as to how Freed never got jealous over the fact that you’re so friendly with everyone” Once again you were questioning your qualities of being a good girlfriend “and then we realized that we had never seen Freed break his composed attitude under any circumstance-“

“so you thought, why not toy with our relationship?” the annoyance coated every word that left the green-haired mage’s lips. To say that he was disappointed in his friends was putting it mildly.

“It makes us look like bad friends if you put it that way” Evergreen mumbled as she looked away in shame. To be fair, she didn’t think Laxus would actually succeed in his job.

“Because you kinda are, right now” Freed sighed in disbelief at the obvious statement Evergreen just made “and for you to actually participate in one of Evergreen’s scheme’s, Laxus? What did they offer? You know what? I don’t care. Hope it was worth it.”

Freed stormed out of the guild, ignoring the shouts of his friends. You sighed deeply before finally speaking up as well “what you guys did, was kind of messed up, but I’ll talk with Freed about it and get him to soften up a little.”

“Thank you, (Y/N). We really never meant for this to happen. We’re so sorry” Bickslow apologized with the other two chiming in.

“Whether he forgives you guys is up to him, but I’ll see what I can do.” You hummed, ready to leave as well but stopped when you heard Laxus voice. “What about you?”

“Next time when you have an idea like that again, maybe stop and think about our feelings too. See you guys tomorrow” You gave them a small smile and actually left this time.

Once home, you immediately noticed a frustrated Freed, sitting on the couch with his head in his hands. “I’m home”

“(Y/N), I-“ You stop him before he can muster any more words “stop if you’re going to apologize, don’t. You had every right to act the way you did. I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner, now that I think about it. I’ve been acting like a terrible girlfriend and for that I’m sorry, I’ll do better from now on. I promise”

Freed quickly got up and took a couple of long strides before stopping in front of you. He placed both his hand on your cheeks, lifting it slightly, so you were looking him in the eyes “No, you stop that right now. You’re not a bad girlfriend, you’re the furthest thing from it. I knew what I would get myself into when I asked you to be my girlfriend. I didn’t expect you to change, nor do I expect that from you now. I’ve let my insecurities taken over whenever I saw you with Laxus, which I should’ve never done since I deeply love and trust the both of you.”

“You know I would never leave you for Laxus, right?” You whispered, scared that if you’d talk any louder your voice would break. “You should really give yourself some more credit. Laxus isn’t superior to you. In any case, you are superior to him”

“You only say that because you love me” he rolled his eyes, but appreciated your attempt at cheering him up nonetheless.

“Maybe, but does that really matter? You’re perfect the way you are, and I love you with every single cell in my body and believe me there are a lot” You joked lightly, trying to get rid of the tense mood, in which you succeeded cause you even managed to get a light chuckle out of Freed. “In all seriousness, though, I’m sorry I made you feel like you couldn’t trust me.”

“And I’m sorry for even doubting you in the first place” He removed his hands from your cheeks as he placed a soft kiss on top of your head while wrapping his arms around your figure, your hand automatically sneaked around his waist as you laid your head against his chest.

“You know, Bickslow, Ever and Laxus really didn’t mean any harm but that horrible stunt they did” you mumbled as you both swayed slightly from side to side.

“I know, I’ll forgive them eventually, I just want to let them dwell on it for a little bit more.” He hummed in agreement. You lifted your head from his chest to look at him with an amused smirk on your lips, “what?”

“You really do have an evil side when you get ticked off. Remind me to never get on your bad side” you shook your head in amusement before laying your head back on his chest, feeling the vibration of his laughter against the side of your head.

oh ehll yea the statues are moving!! i iked seeing that in thhe game

caught way caught up in watching the movvie

i absolutely loved the fighting. all the moving parts were done amazingly well and the effects and graphics were stunning

honestly a great fight. truly enjoyed that.

though, both libertus and luna know what nys is definitely come with morning's light, it's nice of them to be optimistic

luna doesn't fit in with the other people but separate paths yes

okay nyx was aaron paul, regis was sean bean

i knew nyx's voice was familiar

what a good movie! i really enjoyed that

love that it helps flesh out what happened prior to signing day, and also showed us how good the kingsglaives are in combat

i liked that everything was so tense and there weren't too many motivations for why people turned traitor or fighting - everything came down to fighting for home (minus niff as a whole but that's an empire so given)

also, liked seeing how the ring got passed around,and seeing ravus try it on, though it was told to us in game he had

overall, good! the backstory provided was great and really does help develop the game more

Summary: You needed to find a way to raise money to find somewhere to stay. Little did you know it had to be through becoming a stripper at the biggest club in town, owned by the ceo himself. He’s not only a ceo though. Only at night he was.

Chapter 5

Soft lips were trailing all over. From your jawline to your collarbone, you felt the stars in you lighting up in a way you never felt before.

“More.. please”, you kept begging, not getting enough when you wanted all of him.

His hands were getting to know each part of you as you kept his name at a whisper, afraid if anyone would hear.

Two star-crossed lovers had become one through lips and you felt things heating up more.

“Yuta.. I need you”.

“So greedy.. I’m making you a fucking mess aren’t I?”, he smirked, looking up from where he was marking what’s his on your collarbone.

The moment started to fade along with the colors and his touch.

You didn’t want it to end but too late.

The blaring sound from your phone alarm had woken you up from the bittersweet dream you had so longed for.

You groaned into the now familiar pillow of the motel room you were staying in.

8:15 am. Today was show day.

Finally you were gonna get your first paycheck and could start seeing your dream be opposite from black & white.

You did the usual & went to the bathroom to take a quick shower. After getting out, you dried your body & curled up hair in a rose towel and went to get dressed.

You put on baggy silver pants & a crop tee, even though later you would be changing into the real outfit for tonight.

You & Ten had been anticipating all week to see what you two would look like on stage.

After putting on hoops and a final shape of lip gloss, you left the motel, this time with all your things.

It was time to find a new place after today and with the money you’d get you wouldn’t pass the opportunity.

The train ride to the Nakamoto Club was usually quiet & filled with only the mind being loud.

You arrived to your stop and made your way to your destination.

As you climbed up the hollow steps, you headed to Room 1026 to meet up with everyone else even if everyone to you was mainly Ten.

You walked in and immediately were greeted by a slim pair of tan arms but with a body that radiated warmth for you.

“Y/N!!”, Ten gleefully cheered while ruffing your hair up and leading your hand to where you two would usually sit.

“It feels like forever since I saw you, I missed my best friend,” he pouted as he did his usual habit of playing with your hands.

“We just saw each other yesterday before you left me alone with—”

“Yuta!! Oh my god, tell me everything now. How big was it—“

“Ten!!”, you rolled your eyes, softly hitting his arm. “We just spoke for a bit and got to know each other’s names.. nothing else I promise.”

“Aghhh Y/N!! I tossed and turned all night just wondering if a moment finally happened with you two. I didn’t leave you in there for nothing—“

“Well a moment did happen..”, you cut him off as you played with the rings on his sculpted hands.

“Well tell me the moment.. I got my popcorn out and everything”

“Well it wasn’t much but it’s just the way how he looked at me like he already saw through me. Like I know it’s fast and all but I swear you could feel some—“

“Connection?”, a different voice had blurted out.

Oh shit. You had felt your whole face heat up into one color of crimson.

“Yuta—“

“Ten I think this is yours.. you uhh left it here yesterday”, he smirked like the bastard he was seeing the color you were, as he handed him his water bottle and walked back to the front.

He too was flustered but tried hiding it.

Ten had thrown his head back and squealed into your arm as you sat there with your mouth open.

“I don’t know what just happened but girl I’m loving whatever kdrama yall got going on”, he nonstop said between laughs, trying to catch his breath.

“Yeah yeah okay. Keep laughing, you’ll be crying later when that happens to you one day”, you rolled your eyes as your cheeks were still flushed and playfully flipped him off.

Your bestfriend kept teasing you for the rest the day about the most embarrassing moment of your life and you couldn’t wait till it happened to him later.

The night started getting closer and everyone was getting ready.

We got to our dressing rooms and staff was rushing around everywhere, helping with makeup, lights, outfits or what not.

It was all going so fast but he didn’t leave your mind, which brought you to the thought.. where was Yuta?

“He was there for most of the day but he seemed to have left”, a staff had told you while doing your eyes a bright shade of glitter red. “What can you say? He’s a busy man”.

You had hoped he would appear to see the performance you guys had worked so hard on, at least. After all, he helped with most of the moves.

7:30 pm

You started to feel more adrenaline as your first time performing is coming sooner than you think.

You had your makeup done & your outfit had shaped your body well. It was a crimson color built up of a corset with fishnets that made you feel self-conscious but everyone else had wore the same in various colors so you tried to feel at ease.

Looking up from your phone you heard “Damn Y/N!!”, from the now familiar cheery voice of Ten. “Girl you look amazing whatt!!”.

With the continuous praises you got & telling you to do a 360, you kept looking down getting all shy. He really was the only one of the dancers who made you feel at home.

Ten was wearing a see through black long-sleeved shirt with patterns on the front which had perfectly fit his figure & leather pants. It almost even turned you on.

His eyes were batted with sparkling black eyeshadow and wavy designs around it.

“The show is starting soon.. have you heard from him yet?”, he had asked as you two sat back down at your parlors.

“Nope. I’m just hoping he’ll show up at this point. I mean he has to after all the hardwork he’s done for us.”, you sighed while applying a cherry flavored lipgloss.

“He should. Lisa’s here, Johnny, everyone. It’s a big night, especially for you Ms. Yuta..”, he had chuckled looking in the mirror while fixing his combed back hair.

“Let’s not get too ahead now. We don’t even know his last name”, you admired how stunning you looked, pleading in your mind that he would consider coming.

“Yea.. weird but whatever”, he pondered but then decided to change the subject and apply final touches as you did the same.

8:25 pm

“We’re on in 5 minutes ladies!! Start wrapping it up and head backstage now”, Lisa had commanded everyone passing by each row of parlors.

“This bitch always forgets I’m here too”, Ten sighed, getting up from his seat.

You chuckled following with “C’mon my lady”, as you two linked arms to head backstage.

Showtime

Your nerves finally were kicking in as you had no idea how your first performance would play out. You just had hoped it would all go well after busting your ass to learn it for the past week.

When your group’s name was called on stage, you started recalling all the memories from the day you first got here. So much had happened already and you weren’t here for that long yet but you felt like you had. The places you were getting used to.. the faces that became familiar.

To see yourself doing all you can to get to that dance dream of yours, that was home. You knew all your hardwork would pay off one day and you were excited for it.

You got to your spot up in the back as you climbed up the shimmering steps on stage in your platforms, trying your best to see the taped X’s glowing in the dark to find your spot. You got into position as Ten got into his which was further down your row.

Lights of flashing black and white came on that then faded into color hue as the song started.

You know, from the moment she turn around.

She know, how to back it up and drop it down

She know, she what all the fellas looking at

'Cause they know, soon as her song come on it's a wrap.

You had been mirroring the moves everyone else had been doing as the chorus was building up.

And she loves the attention

Even as a back dancer, you had felt confident in how good you were doing and living it up in moment that you hadn’t realized Yuta did show up.

But him also being Mr. Nakamoto, he had sat near the back blending in with the other people sitting on the barstools.

“You seem to come here often. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were Mr. Nakamoto himself”, bartender Jaehyun had remarked with a small laugh as he wiped the bar and served more drinks to customers. “In that case, welcome.”

Yuta was in a gaze as Jaehyun’s words were only muffles to him, trying to set his eyes on you even if you were blended in by other dancers.

You looked so beautiful right then and there even from far. The lights had illuminated your entire beint and made you feel like you were the only dancer in the room to him.

It was all going so well right up until after the chorus that Rosé had tripped you.

You knew something was up when Lisa had asked Ten and Rosé to switch spots before show day.

The music had continued but there was gasps throughout the crowd that led you to rush down the steps and back to the dressing room.

Hot tears were running down your face as you sat in your chair that had faced the mirror & violently threw off your platforms.

You had a bloody gash on your knee from the trip but other than that you just tried to breathe amidst your anxiety attack.

Yuta had noticed later in the dance that you were gone and was starting to worry as well.

You felt too embarrassed to wait till the performance was over to find Ten or just see anyone.

You had picked up some wipes laying around the lights framing the mirror and starting to wipe off the canvas that had been painted earlier on your face.

“It’s just a fall, quit crying Y/N”, that voice in your head telling you on a loop.

Mascara tears kept streaming down but you just hurried up the process so you could grab your things and head on out in the back.

You kept getting flushed at the embarrassed moment that kept replaying in your head and just wanted it all to be erased. Possibly to even just go home and forget you came here. You knew your family & few friends was worried sick from all the missed calls as well.

You were from Cloud City, a small town that not many knew about with only black & white surroundings. It wasn’t anything like Blossom City, with all the colorful lights everywhere and endless people with stories in them filling the streets.

You had come from a complete different area, all opposite from this.

After all you were a dancer, not a dancer for these types of clubs.

You went through the back door and droplets had hit you which progressed more as you walked further to the nearest bus stop.

You still had your outfit on but with a coat over it and your heels in your hands. You didn’t feel like going on the subway with the way you looked this time so the bus it is.

You pulled out a lighter to light up your cigarette as you had stayed hovered under the stop. The rain was making it harder for it to light up so you occasionally blurted curses under your lip with the paper between it.

As you let out the first puff into the foggy night air, you coughed a bit but felt more at ease. You were still new to this as you had picked up the habit from Ten.

Before the next bus arrived, you had realized you didn’t get your first performance’s pay and panicked at the thought of literally having nowhere to stay at tonight.

Suddenly a white polished Benz had pulled up with the passenger window rolling down to greet you with a face that had made the familiar flush come back to your cheeks.

Usually he wouldn’t greet any of his dancers at this time of the day with the work he had going on but here he was with his one hand on the wheel and other waving at you.

“Hop in”, was all it took for you to drop everything and forget your thoughts for the rest of the night.

Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest Chapter 12 Review

Oh my god... What the heck is even going on?

So our cover page is Natsu and Lucy, and Natsu I hope you enjoy that brain freeze.

So we open on Jellal confronting Touka. We learn like how Avatar was devoted to black magic there was a group devoted to white magic. Now this is cool, but literally if you watch the anime recently, that arc was done in 5 episodes. So this feels really odd on how much effort is being put into it.

Like if there was like something tying into Tenrou or hell edolas, that make more sense, given all thee time on it.

So Jellal describes White magic as a philosophy of nothingness, which that doesn’t make sense. Fans of yugioh gx might compare this the darkness and light in that series and how darkness led to creation while light was subjugation. But Black magic is clearly about ending life or manipulating life. I guess you could dumb it down to all life, but literal Ankherseram black magic is portrayed as nothing but death. So wouldn’t white be about life? I guess nothingness as life without personality isn’t wrong, but this feels like a stretch.

Also, Mashima said anyone could learn any type of magic. So why is that an abnormality? Like if this was Black Clover where you are assigned a single affinity that be one thing.

Suddenly Laxus steps in, and want to make this clear. I don’t exactly hate the idea behind this. That Laxus wants to defend someonew ho is a part of his family, given his new found view on FT, and its using the family aspect of FT on its head. Someone bad could be using FT’s family mentality for personal benefit. Which is interesting.

Okay, well Jellal has a reason, she is suspect and as a guild master he has authority to take her in. However, Laxus you of all people know that people in your guild will still harm it.

On the one hand im torn, the shounen loving half of my brain wants to see this fight. But the logical half says that these two are mature adults with enough common sense to take this to the run knights. And confrontation is over after this page.

Yeah for a chapter named after the two, its got very little to do with theem. Instead.... The worst thing in the chapter happens. We cut to Diablos’ ship and we see this.

Yes you are seeing this right. For people who were saying I was to harsh, calling this a submissive Erza fetish that Mashima is putting out, I ask you read this chapter.

You know I can’t tell if Skullion means this is temporary as in terms of magic, or temporary as Kyria will grow bored, but I do know that this is nothing but sick and tastess. Also props to Madmorel for having some class to be disgusted by the perv in the group. Like that is becoming a rarity these days.

We are guided down to the lower deck where natsu and wendy are being held, the motion sickness keeping them in check.

I’ve been putting this off long enough, its time to rant. This is bull shit. People told me, i was too harsh on mashima, but at the least I thought this was some sort of temporary thing that was meant so Kyria could get a win in a fight, but this might be some permanent magic effect feels disgusting.

Now, people say that this happened cause people would rag on Erza, called Erza fights awful, and that now Mashima is going in the complete opposite dirction. You didn’t like strong erza, fine! Here’s weak Erza, you happy cynics?

But that’s not the case. People didn’t like Erza because she was “too strong” she was someoone who went from this amazing badass female character, to this static friendship speech spewing tool that never truly got any development. Its painful for people to see a character like Erza not grow after she had developed so much in ToH, but it just was never followed through. All the times she won just felt like a poor spectacle without any character behind it.

Now you could say an erza who needs to get her strength back could be character development. No. Cutting away a person’s strength with “magic” is not character development, its forced regression. Its the author literally creating an unrealistic situation bcause he has no idea what to do with her after ToH, hell he can’t even fully commit to a love story between her and jellal.

When Erza came onto the scene, she was cool, in control, yet could over react at times. To see her be pushed to her lowest by ToH and then recover and face midnight in OS, is peak Erza character shining through. That this is how erza’s development deserved to be treated. But Watching Erza crawl on the ground, be spanked, and cry for mercy like a hentai doll, all because of plot convince magic is so gross to me. Its ejecting the Erza that we all love and stripping her of all that personality just for this.

So if you blame this development on people who were too hard on Mashima about how he was writing Erza, I, a critic and very judgemental person, find this worse than any of the nakama power or skimpy armors.

Erza being trapped in Kyoka’s sex dungeon was bad, but you know what, EErza actievly resisted it. She didn’t want to be there aand tried to fight back. It wasn’t handled well, but that t least felt like whatt her character would do in this situation. But this was forced upon her and this is nothing more than an Erza made for this arc.

Also, lets step out of this and look at this from the meta perspective that this is also extremely lazy. In Eden’s zero there’s a villain who is all about subjugating women right now, and Mashima couldn’t be bothered to not let that bleeed into his other work. If that doesn’t scream creately lazy, than I don’t know what will. Also that frog thing in Eden’s zero is actuaally better giveen the fact he’s not mind bending away personality, he’s forcibly turning them in statues to do with what he pleases against their will.

Im not saying this cause im anti ecchi or that im anti mashima, im anti such a hack story writting device that weather you stuck it out as a fan of erza’s till the end of FT or liked her at first but than soured on her, I ask, would you tolerate this? I’m not claiming ownership of the character of Erza, but I am asking do you think that this is worth a character arc because our author couldn’t think of anything better to do with her. You know if you knew Erza was so strong,Ad that in actuality she would sweep away most threats, why did you bring her? I honestly would’ve preferred Jellal and Erza being out of the action cause they had a kid or something. Erza having to pick between biological family and her guild family seems like a better direction to take her character in than this.

To see Erza cry because someone’s magic made her into a slave is so lacking in power than say the sheer emotional weight of watching simon die. Like this is shit is just awful.

We cut to Luccy and here is where I get to credit thee art. Sure Lucy is in a bikini, but what matters in frame is the wounds on her legs. Which is a nice us of having aa skimpy dress and not sexualizing it.

We get a flashback of Lucy realizing Kyriaa took her friends and this is where I give Caramille a big fuck you. Oh sure, this did happen after they showed up, but Diabolos clearly was going to find the place eventually and more importantly, you did fuck all. Like, go screw cause you have contributed literally nothing.

We find out that there is another ship in the area and that Gray is okay because he was saved by you can guess who...

Okay on the one hand, this definitely seems like Brandish’s kind of entrance, but on the other. Fuck you, Hiro. Like she just passed by and saved Gray? Hw? The entire ocean was either freezing or evaporating, what is your range? Also, who is in charge of Alverez? Yajeel? Oi...

Post Chapter Follow up: Its easy to say why I don’t like this chapter. I feel so sick by the sheer amount of laziness and disgust in the slave Erza plot. Like, my god this is so wrong. Not because of the subject, human slavery makes sense in a series aimed at teenagers, but the sheer disrespect that Hiro treated this character, made my blood boil. At the very least in Alvarez, Erza still seemed like she was the same character from beginning of the series.

People who follow me weekly on this review series are probably going to ask when I will stop harping on this Erza thing. Well each week, it somehow get worse and more gross. First time it felt like a cheap win, second it was bad use of domination, now this is full blown fetish material.

As for the brandish thing, I know why she is here, Lucy is literally not strong enough to handle 3 DE’s by herself with a few exceeds, and I’d accept that Brandish reentering the series. But maybe leave out Gray? I guess you could say that this is a subversion of the Musica captured by Doryu, but this feels lazier. You could’ve just made this a big “step up Lucy plot,” but no, had to save Gray, even though Skullion should’ve notice when his magic didn’t actually ash up Gray. Plus think about, if they save save Natsu and Wendy this arc and beat these three dragon eaters, wouldn’t some added bit of tension to the quest be finding diablos’s hideout and saving Gray from the “dinner table?”And I was cool with the kidnapped gray thing, but no, we had to have kidnapped everyone else.Also if he was made small how did he survive the water? Like he’s the size of a pin, he’d drown.

Now the stuff with Laxus and Jellal is actually fairly good Its an interesting take on FTs standards vs the consequences of their past when we are suppose to be rooting for Touka to be extracted. And involving two characters that really have been in the moral gray spectrum make them the most qualified for this subject matter. While i definitely didn’t like the Touka plot at first from how disconnected it was from everything (and it really is kinda shoed in on this point) it still is the more interesting plot. It has more intresting ideas than, “more dragons” and is involving the characters that come off as the most interesting.

Final Verdict: 3/10

There is clearly some interesting idea at work here

However, the way the plotline for the dragon portion of this arc has become a mess

EPs: "we chose Netflix to explore things like sexuality" (nothing was explored or was explicit for even 2 seconds) "when they told us u cant kill Shiro, we knew we could push the reveal 4 later" (so nice of them to admit they stopped our rep just to be able to kill him) "when we found out about byg we knew we coulnt kill Shiro & we thought we'll find rep w another character. Then we learned we could go on w/ Shiro as the rep" (theres ANOTHER REP WE DIDNT GET?? Was it vague then erased? Whatt??)

I think these are two separate issues. One is related to who made VLD, and the other is related to the EPs’ ignorance of characterization. The second overlaps with a bunch of asks I’ve recently gotten about race and representation, so here I’m just keeping it to a general discussion of characterization, with Lance as example. And then about Shiro in particular, how the EPs’ statements reveal their lack of thought.

Behind the cut.

remember where these people came from

The team behind VLD is almost entirely formerly Nickelodeon. DreamWorks wanted to break into television on a much larger scale, and since they almost always promote from outside the company, they lured over Margie Cohn from her position as a Nick VP. As VP/exec levels tend to do, Cohn brought a bunch of people with her.

One of those was Mark Taylor, who’d been involved in both AtLA and LoK. Taylor, in turn, brought JDS, LM, and I think one or two of the other producers. Taylor also probably brought over Hamilton, Chan, and Hedrick, as known entities with proven track records.

These are people who — for for the last ten or more years — have swum in Nickelodeon’s considerably more conservative fishbowl. It’s entirely possible (given what people tell me about storylines in HTTYD, and DW’s open support of She-Ra) the former Nickelodeon team automatically downgraded DW’s “go ahead and explore these heavier/darker topics” to mean “maybe kinda mention in passing but don’t be too obvious about it.”

Now, to be fair, the EPs may have pushed for more LGBT+ rep, and their obstacle might not have been DW, but Taylor. It’d explain how the EPs could praise everyone (read: DreamWorks staff) as supportive, yet allso complain about pushback (read: Taylor’s Nickelodeon-influenced sensibilities). Two different parties were calling the shots.

It’s also possible what the EPs saw as ‘rep’ was still considerably toned-down from what DW execs (and the VAs) may’ve expected. After all, that one-minute scene in VLD might’ve required an act of god at Nickelodeon. VLD’s staff may have genuinely considered this scene landmark because even that tiny bit was far more than their previous employer would’ve allowed.

Cue the victory lap and excited chatter, and seeming blindness to Korra being long since surpassed by Steven Universe, Young Justice, Bob’s Burgers, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, RWBY, Rick and Morty, Clarence, BoJack Horseman, Danger & Eggs, Big Mouth, and Summer Camp Island. Remember, it wasn’t until 2016 that Nickelodeon would have a married gay couple (in The Loud House), and they’re not even central characters. The VLD staff may’ve thought itself bold, and unprepared for the reality of modern (non-Nickelodeon) audience expectations.

No, I don’t think that absolves them. It just seems the most reasonable explanation. That is, short of seeing the EPs as so utterly cynical they’d pump up the audience for what amounted to a nothingburger in light of what else popular media now delivers.

and then there’s representation

VLD’s troubles can all be traced to one crucial detail: the EPs don’t understand that characters are the bedrock of stories. And as such, there are no shortcuts.

Ever had the misfortune to catch a home decorating show? Here we have a windowless basement: mock up a mantle from polystyrene, paint the walls gray, put up sconces with flickering lightbulbs… it’s still a basement. It’s just now desperately pretending to be something it isn’t. The bones of the structure are undeniably American Suburbia, not generic castle keep, and those bones are integral to how we experience the space.

The average person isn’t trained to be aware of those bones — the underlying architecture — and its subtle impact on our experience, just as most non-storytellers aren’t trained to see how and where and why characters create plot. I guarantee you, though, you will never mistake a late-century Kmart for the Centre Pompidou or the Forbidden City or Mount Vernon. Just as you would never mistake a beginner’s first novel for Lord of the Rings or Left Hand of Darkness.

That is, the dressed stone isn’t paint and plaster; it’s a core element informing (even dictating) height, width, and depth of a space. Characterization is the same: it must be structural. In turn, characters inform the breadth and depth of the story. If your characterization is shallow, wild swerves and dramatic reveals can make the story fun, but they will never make it deep.

I empathize with the (hopefully genuine) intent to avoid making Shiro’s sexuality a ‘reveal.’ The unfortunate truth is: waiting 60+ episodes to even mention in passing makes it a reveal. It wasn’t structural, or viewers would’ve been sensing it from the very beginning.

This isn’t a haircut or a pair of jeans. It’s a person’s identity, and that has crucial impact on hopes, fears, desires, and needs. It doesn’t start only once the audience is let in on the secret; it was always there. It should’ve informed the character’s actions and reactions all along.

If Lance is Cuban, and the story takes place in a quasi-future America, then to understand Lance’s perspective, we need to ask questions like: is Cuba still under embargo? Is it a free democracy now, or did Lance’s family flee at some point? Is he part of an exchange program, or is there a lottery that let him come to the US for his education? Did he leave his family behind? How young was he, when he left? What was his childhood like, and how does that differ from what he found in America? What was his parents’ relationship like, and how does that influence his expectations for friends and lovers?

Was he fluent in English when he arrived, or did he only become fluent later? Does his Spanish have a noticeable accent, and if so, has he felt isolated from other Latinx at school? Or is he the only Latino at the Garrison? Is he proud of his heritage, or ashamed of it? Did he get bullied for being foreign, and how did that change what he says/does? Even if America is joyfully multi-cultural, he’d still be an immigrant or foreigner, and that’s a different experience from a non-white community that’s multi-generation American. What was his impression of his new life? What compared favorably (or not) to his childhood?

It’s not just, “He’s a boy from Cuba.” You have to think about what it means to be ‘from Cuba’ and how this is different from, say, growing up next door to the Garrison (like Pidge probably did). If you put that much thought into it, if you talk to people who’ve lived that experience, if you push yourself to imagine as deeply as you can how Lance’s life would have shaped him?

By the time you’re done, Lance would never need to say a word.

His reactions, his assumptions, maybe a few mannerisms, his humor, a few throwaway comments about his family or things he did as a kid — and there would be Cubans in the audience going, “hey, wait a minute, he’s just like my cousin.” Or brother or uncle or friend. By the time someone asks at a panel? Half the audience would be saying, yeah, we were right, Lance is totally Cuban.

Or you don’t think about it, and you use stereotypes in hopes that’ll do the work for you. As @sjwwerewolf commented:

Man, I’m ready to rant about Voltron. I’m Cuban. Lance, oh boy, Lance. From season 1 on, he has been written as a huge stereotype. The flirtatious, passionate comic relief character who’s dumb. Like. He’s literally Antman’s sidekick. That character. All you need to make him a full caricature is like, “I have a gangster brother.“

The stereotype is a shortcut. It’s slapping on behaviors without thought for a real person’s experiences or perspectives. VLD is, sadly, full of them: the Latino (wannabe) lover, the big guy who likes food (with only the slightest twist to have him actually good at cooking), the boyish-girl who’s a brain and likes computers more than people, etc.

At some point early on, the EPs said (once again in an interview, not in the story) that VLD is a world without homophobia. The story itself contradicts that ideal, or at least, it emphasizes a certain level of heternormativity over an open embrace of diverse relationships. What’s in our face for six seasons is Lance’s lover-boy stereotype, Allura’s attraction to Lotor, Lotor’s attraction to Allura, Matt’s attraction to Allura, and so on… and the closest we get to anything resembling an alternate attraction is one blush from a servant in a flashback, and Kuron’s startled reaction to Keith’s return.

All VLD had to do was have Hunk mention his moms. Or Coran mention his late husband. Or Lance mention his sister’s wife. Something explicit to offset the heterosexual attractions going on. Frankly, for six seasons it was an open question whether homosexuality even existed in VLD: the absence of a negative is not proof of the presence of a positive.

That absence means we really have no idea how being queer in VLD’s world would affect a character — and it would, have no doubt. Our sexuality affects every single one of us; it’s just that straight people have the benefit of seeing the roadmap of their sexuality played out in a million books, movies, and television shows. If you haven’t given thought to whether this is also true in your world, then you don’t really know how a character could discover, define, and map their sexuality, or how they’d quantify or qualify relationships that overlap their sexual preferences. You don’t understand the structure.

That lack of thought means, nine times out of ten, the creator has said to themselves, “it’s easier to just say this character’s experience of their sexuality is exactly like the one I, as a straight person, vaguely recall having (that I never actually had to question because it was already mapped out for me, everywhere I looked).” That’s not a queer character. That’s a character with a label slapped on their forehead that says here be a queer character. It’s paint, because the structure underneath is straight person.

Which means that of course the EPs could consider making someone else “the rep,” because they really seem to believe this is as easy as removing the label from Shiro’s forehead and sticking it on someone else. And it’s not. People don’t work like that. Sexuality is no more a simple paint-job than race, gender, culture, or dis/ability. Each of these things is etched on our bones, literally or metaphorically, and that changes us all the way through.

The short version, then, is: no, we wouldn’t have gotten any other rep, just as we haven’t truly gotten any rep as VLD was delivered. Shiro has a label on his forehead, but unless and until the canonical story demonstrates this goes all the way down to his bones… he’s just a straight suburban basement with a mediocre paint job and some fake queer columns.

Steven Universe Season 6?

Season Finale could be easily a series finale. And then the movie happens to finalize it, it is what happened with many shows. So I really hope this isn’t the case. I did look up that Dee Dee has done some recording for new Steven Universe song. So hopefully either he movie happens before season 6 or after. I can’t wait.

A Happy Diamond family. I would love to see them spend more time with Steven and truly understand more that Steven isn’t Rose, maybe him actually having his Dad talk to White Diamond, since she still seemed in somewhat denial that Steven wasn’t Rise after taking his gem. That scene was so sad because at first it seems he wants to go to his gem because he is hoping that it is his mom. And the sadder part is I think he knows it then isn’t after hugging and laughing but that reassured him that he has always been himself and not his mom. White Diamond did touch on some hard truths on how Rose had manipulated some by not revealing who she truly was. But on the other hand, we heard more about her side from Pearl when she talked to Sapphire after she ran after the reveal. So in truth they were both correct. I loved what White revealed about Yellow loving Blue and that being her “weakness” (now whenever I hear that word used I can’t help thinking about Lexa and her constantly fighting with herself about what love and weakness was), and Blue loved Pink (like a sister or child).

I think my heart stopped after the episode because I was like wait...they tied up some loose ends m..NO PLEASE DONT BE THEN END OF SU! , especially since Adventure Time is gone (by the way, who else would love to watch a spin-off for Bubblegum and Marceline? Anyone?)

Whatt I would like to see in Season 6:

• Amethyst helping Jasper understand what happened, everything. About Pink and Rose, how Steven is her offspring, and how everything may change on Homeworld

• Bismuth and the other Crystal Gems, recounting stories to Steven. And then Busmuth explaining (like with Jasper) what is happening.

• Connie and Steven talking about what happened on Homeworld if they have nightmares I mean, maybe getting to talk to some adults about what happened. Without his gem he looked like he was dying. (I guess our long theorized/question has been answered partly, that if someone takes his gem from him that he will die. But we don’t know if he can be pooped or not. He is still a hybrid/halfa (anyone else remember Danny Phantom? No?).

• Each Diamond visiting Earth on their own time (like having other two cover for her) to visit Steven. And learn more about Earth and humans (which Blue loves, easily. She can connect more to them than the other too who were so very strict but Blue always was with Pink when she could be and saw her interactions with humans. I mean she seemed more curious when she saw Steven’s dad, though she was also in mourning. But I still think she’d have an easier time than the other two.

Can you imagine her finding out about Soap Operas? Oh my god, the tears. And her finding out about maybe ice cream when she sees Amethyst eating and is starting in horror, freaks out screaming “WhAT ARe yoU DOING?! 😱And then asks “Do all crystal Gems do this” and Pearl walks into the room with laundry, saying “No, just her”.

“I like it”, Amethyst would say. And maybe Blue either kinda passes out or just stares in silent horror and Pearl is sympathetic and is like “there, there, I know.”

• Jasper and Steven talk. And I’m just hoping that when Jasper does find out that Pink is truly gone that she doesn’t blame Steven.

• I really wanted to see Pearl talk with Yellow, Blue and Pink Pearl. Where did Pink Pearl go? Still with White?

• Lars and Sadie dating or going on a date (the off compress ship them so hard); maybe Lars watching Sadie rock out on a concert show

• Lars reuniting with his parents

Clayton James, better known as Cib, put out one of the biggest alt-pop records of the year with Songs From Every Coast. His meandering lyrics, smooth vocals, and surprising production have earned him fans around the world. He’s also notoriously private, but we here at Teen Vogue sat down with him to get five must-know facts.

Yes, he’s like that in real life. (Sort of.) It’s been a big debate between fans whether his stage persona - kind of a goof, an idiot but in a fun way - is an act or actually who he is. But he says the truth is somewhere in the middle. “I can do basic things,” Cib says, “but I think anyone who says they’re totally competent is either lying on purpose or just wrong. Like, haven’t we all microwaved silverware before? We all make mistakes, I just play them up on stage.”

His first guitar was named Sheila. “Not for any reason, I think I was going through an Australia phase. You know, the Australia phase that every kid goes through. I thought it’d be cool.” His current guitars? Annie, Melanie, Sally, and one that he says is a secret.

He hated riding bikes as a kid. “I do it all the time now,” he laughs, “but when I was a kid? Nah, dude, I fell off constantly. Crashed it more than once My balance was s***. I’m way more coordinated now. I think it’s all the choreography.”

The headband started as a joke. If you’ve seen more people wearing headbands lately, that’s no accident: that’s Cib’s brand. But he says the brand was a total accident. “My friend Steve bet me I wouldn’t,” he says, “and all it takes is one or two photoshoots, a couple of paparazzos, and bam, you have a brand.” Lucky for him, he didn’t mind leaning into it: “I think it’s a good look, don’t you?”

Mr. Mcghghy is real, and he’s not who you think he is. Easily the most popular song off Songs From Every Coast, “Dear Mr. Mcghghy” sparked waves of speculation in fans. The song is obviously a love song, written to someone who’s only ever called Mr. Mcghghy. And who is he? “Someone I was friends with as a kid,” Cib says. “We had nonsense nicknames for each other, and his was Mr. Mcghghy. He was definitely my first crush, looking back, but I don’t really know where he is these days.” And what was his childhood nonsense name? “Aw, dude, it was Cib. Of course.”

“Okay, first of all, because I know everyone’s asking about it: yes, Mr. Mcghghy is real, but I don’t remember his real name. When I was younger, I used to spend my summers visiting family in North Carolina - it was actually a big inspiration for this album as a whole. When I say it’s from every coast, you know, I mean it’s from every coast. East, west, Canadian, American, it’s all in here.

“But I used to go down to North Carolina for a month every year, and there was this kid who lived down the street from my family. He was a couple years older than me, and I don’t remember a lot about him, because we were kids, and kids don’t know how to pay attention to shit that’s going to be important. But he was a little older, had curly hair, and was totally okay with bratty little me dragging him on adventures all over his city. He said he’d seen it all before, but I was seeing new things, and that was part of the song.

“The nicknames just came out of nowhere. We picked our own, although I think one of my cousins had already been calling me Cib. I don’t remember why he picked Mcghghy, but he was always really, really specific about how it was spelled. I made up a song to help me remember, and you can actually hear that melody in the background of the chorus…”

SJ: Okay, okay, so here’s the question on everyone’s mind.

C: You sure about that?

SJ: It’s on my mind, and I think it’s a thing a lot of people are curious about. What’s your favorite song off your album?

SJ: I mean, you can say it. The people won’t hear it.

C: Good to know. I mean, I can’t pick, right? They’re all my favorite. I put a lot of time into every one of them.

How did Banner survive an arrow to the head? Fun story.

Most cases, an arrow to the noggin will kill you, and technically, here, it had done just that. However, even after a year of suppressing Hulk and ‘curing’ herself, Banner failed there. Failed in accounting for the fact Hulk didn’t like taking death sitting down. Or ever frankly. So, through an extreme amount of Hulk Stubbornness, the arrow didn’t kill Banner, however, there wasn’t some grand transformation to shake it off, heal, anything like that.

Rather, there lay the “Dead” body Banner, in a field of heroes watching blood pool out of a head wound. In shock, quiet and extreme levels of guilt.

Under the surface of the evidently dead body in front of them was really, the absolute bare minimum of function running to keep alive. And Healing was slow, not terribly slow, but not immediately there. All advanced brain functions dropped off entirely, all power to heal a broken brain. Quite luckily, though Hawkeye doesn’t miss, he missed the brainstem. Almost apparently on purpose. By all measures of scanning, the heart rate was so low, Banner may have well been dead, but also quite luckily since the Avengers didn’t quite listen to how she chose to be handled in death should it come, steps like embalming were and cremating were skipped.

In fact, it was written that there was a preference to be buried, unaltered, left to rot. Another will at some point probably cited cremation, though if only to ensure the body would never be recoverable. This note thankfully got missed, but they didn’t do an open casket obviously. So thanks to that blunder in burial, they buried a technically alive person.

Technically alive. There wasn’t much ‘person’ rattling around that skull for a good week.IT was nothing more but Hulk’s pure determination to heal and keep alive that drove healing from another brain wound in the past five years in a slow manner that didn’t drain the weak body of all resources (however any weight put on by her wife’s carb-heavy cooking was used up in this process).

The scary part was what happened next.

Banner, effectively dead to the world and herself, woke up in the grave, buried, with little other impulses and instruction she could think of other than ‘escape’ and ‘panic’ and ‘oh god’. Also waking up from your last memory being attacked and ganged up by the Avengers and then an arrow in your head is terrifying. Somehow, though it’s beyond the zombie-like memory of the time, she got out. Hands dirty, nails long and disgusting. She dug her way out. She remembers none of this and is grateful. But the waking up, oh, that is remembered.

And from there on, there was an ashy, pale zombie-like woman about, heading a direction, unable to speak, somehow knowing what direction home was. Who knows how many miles away it was. That memory is a haze. Home wasn’t so much a place, but a person, and even with a brain still trying to formulate what season it was or time of day or that it was alive and kicking just... managed to find it. Hulk internal compass, bird-like in nature-- didn’t die out in Banner, especially to obscure things like homing into birthplaces and towards people evidently. And boy, did she give her wife the scare of the goddamn millennia.

An ashy ghost of a dead wife oat the door at midnight, dirty, skinny walking for days it seems splinters and dirt under the nails. Ross almost didn’t answer the door, and when Banner eventually put a word together in an incredibly parched mouth, it barely came out, hoarse, a ‘hi’ nearly mouthed.

But shit, Ross let her in. Screamed. Died a little, but let her in. Not before shutting the door on her. It’s understandable.

Almost immediately thereafter, questions flooded a panicked wife obviously, shouldn’t you be dead? They buried you? But Banner had no response. Words were beyond saying. They weren’t happening. There wasn’t a single solid sentence spoken for at least a week. Banner slept on the couch after the first night, sleeping for two straight nights. Then, refusing to sleep for days in a row after. Waking up in your own coffin will do that to you. She ate everything offered by the fourth day, but getting any food int her took the force of an army. Banner was fucked up. Spacing out. Just trying to put things back in some working order in that cranium. Things didn’t ... click yet.

About a month in, there were sentences again, two weeks in, some very light explanation of how survival was even a thing. Banner didn’t know much about how either, and if she did, there weren’t words rummaging through that damaged brain enough to describe it.

Hulk took advantage of Banner’s inability to say no, or anything, and how frequently the poor brought-to-life scientist never really said or did anything at all while recovering beside sleeping and zoning out for hours at a time. So, Hulk got out and took adventures. Hulk earned it frankly. Fixing up a brain on the near-dead out of survival takes a toll on you. However, a fun side effect was that the transformations encouraged better healing, so each outing seemed to improve things. The first day Ross washed her recently alive wife. By the end of the month Banner could successfully stand in the shower too long and stare but nonetheless clean herself. It improved speech. It improved appetite. It worked.

As of now, Banner is still largely fucked up, and still isn’t saying no to Hulk so instead is laying low and putting pieces back together.

One of the scarier things that isn't a comforting thought frankly, is discovered later. While they removed what they could of the arrow from Banner’s skull and brain... They couldn’t get everything. Why try so hard for a dead person. Any more digging and you ruin what’s left of the face. So, apparently, something that keeps Banner up at night other than horrible flashbacks, is the fact in an extremely creative effort to pull from any resource as needed, Hulk... kinda... broke it down. What remained. In the brain. That arrow fractures left in the brain just got... absorbed. Eaten. That’s fucking miraculous, but the thought kept Banner up all night one night considering how that was possible, but Hulk made do.

Banner hides from the world still, slowly getting out there, but not announcing being alive just yet. However, it’s growing more apparent that’s the case, just coming back from the dead is hard on anyone.

So, Banner and The Hulk live. Goes to show, despite getting messed up in the process, it’s impossible to really kill the goddamn Hulk. The upside if that rather than the first fatal headshot to the back of the head prior, this front arrow shot did not result in infantilization of the brain. Banner didn’t lose intelligence temporarily out of it, not like that.

Rather, there were two stages, Zombie trying to work with fragments coming at them, and genius, The genius was just flaked over with zombie-brain and came back relatively quickly, just a good month of not a lot of genius going on. Rather than a bullet splattering everything and starting over, an arrow just sliced a little, an easier mend. but some severed connections initially for sure.

#bc the whole 'dead for this long thing' doesn't vibe with me #but fatal head wounds will jack up banne'rs personality for a while it's proven.#this case it's numb and dissasociating and slowly unconvering her own genius again. painfully slowly. not sleeping a lot.#needs caretaking and someoen to watch so banner doesn't fall off the deep end or whatever #or doesn't sleep for five days.#it's a challenge but after that all fades it's back to banenr just more nightmare fuel to haunt dreams later #musings;

In. The. Bin.

Ok... so I messed up big time and I’ve been paying such a heavy price…..

It was Sunday night (a bank holiday weekend) and the gals and I had our yearly house party planned - we had been round to our moody as hell neighbours to warn them as nicely as possible that we were going to have people round… please note… ONCE A YEAR!! - but we may as well have told them we were going to burn down their house and shit on their dog.

We took them a box of chocolates which they then THREW back over into our front garden!!! WHATT?!?!?! Oh well at least that meant we got to eat them!! Ant to be honest…well.. that just made us wanna make even more noise!! MWA HA HA ;)

So for once I was actually feeling quite up for it! I didn’t feel great but I didn’t feel terrible, so I got meself all glammed up and ready for #clubtropicana. This was the theme pf the party although to be honest I think I definitely took it the most literally and may have over dressed ;) (classic)- and even did me nails with lil’ flamingoes on them :) :) oh and we forgot to actually play ‘club tropicana’ that night which we all found hilarious the next day!!

I had decided I was gonna have one, maybe two small drinks and aim to go to bed at around 12/1am - I’m never asleep by then anyway! But one drink lead to another….and then I couldn’t have cared less! I was having a bloody great time! It was so good to see some old friends and sing Destiny’s Child at the top of my lungs! And it was so so nice to actually be up and about and ‘happy’ with my housemates....

I know I keep referring to them as that, but they are actually my bestest friends and I freakin’ love them so much!!! I am SO lucky to live with them and they make everyday that bit more doable… so massive shout out to Nicki, Grace, Katie, Tilly and Bahvika :) -Sorry just had a #totesemosh moment there!!

Anyway after all my planning I still didn’t get to bed until 4am and don’t know quite how that happened!!

The next day….was…hell. I was not a well bunny :( I know it was self inflicted but my god I felt so sorry for myself!! I spent the entire day in bed unable to hardly move (other than a very random hour where I felt great in the evening…none of us understood that one!)

I ate Chinese in bed and was fully in the bin. This is what my house mates (mainly Tilly) call being hung over! Or if someones being an utter knob it’s always ‘get in the bin’! - As you can imagine, this emoji gets a lot of useage in our group whatsapp chat!!

The next day came and went, as did the next…and the next...ahhhh..what had I done?? It took me a full week of resting with only a few little outings to the local shop to get food to recover. It’s been two weeks now and I would say that I am now finally over it. Two god damn weeks.

So the question is… was it worth it?? And what do I do next time there’s a party or event?

Well I actually did go to something this Saturday eve. I didn’t drink anything and left early…. But it did feel really rubbish doing that. And omg the amount of people who asked ‘why aren’t you drinking’ and basically mock you for it. MEH. Trust me I want to!! And then when you leave early and it’s all like ‘why are you leaving so soon? Don’t go!’ Like they think you’re the most boring human on the planet.

People will judge me wether I like it or not. Everyone judges everyone. I judge people. It’s life. No-one is truly going to understand my daily struggles but me.

I have to accept the fact that I look healthy, and learn to live with the look that people give me on the tube when I (very politely) ask if they need the seating for people less able to stand. I always feel so embarrassed and only ask when I really do need a seat but I’ve never had anyone just get up and say ’sure!’

And I guess it’s even really hard for people reading this blog to understand - like, I partied, got tipsy and was up till late….but the week before I was ill A LOT and I had to spend pretty much two weeks resting after- like on a day to day basis I know I can’t manage that level of activity at all- ugh- it’s SO hard to explain- A new friend of mine asked me just yesterday ‘So what is M.E?’ and I found it so hard to explain- I just told him it’s a real struggle with fatigue, and doing little things feels like doing really big things and how I was in a wheelchair for years and had a stairlift put in my house and couldn’t walk, talk, or even watch tele for years….. but then it’s like ‘oh so you’re better now then?’ And it’s like…. Yea I am SO much better than I was…. But man how I feel day to day is naaaat ok!!

But having said that, I think that what I have to do is to somehow learn to be happy with a day to day life at home, just pottering around the house. A day to day life of just making lunches and dinners for myself and watching tele series' and then somehow being able to think of anything else that I can do on top of that as a bonus.

I also somehow have to accept that I can't do what all of my other friends can?? How do I not get down depressed and so sad about that?? Oh jealousy… what a horrible thing you are!!!

I’m sure I will figure it out- I am very lucky I have so much amazing support from my close friends and family and even you guys on this old inter web thing :)

Other than the house party and resting there’s not been much to tell over the past two weeks - The last few days have been much better though and I’ve managed two songwriting sessions so at least that’s something :) And they were good ones too! Wooop :)

Especially when one of the studios has a doggy!!!! yaaaaassss!! :) :) :)

Other than that... oh we did call the police on a man who was masturbating outside our house on the street and trying to look into peoples windows…. That was an amusing evening!!!

Never say die - Chapter 9

Pairing: Axl Rose x reader Words: 1808 Summary: Reader accidentally time travels back to 1985 where Axl, Duff, Slash, Steven and Izzy find her. Never say die masterlist A/N: I’m so sorry i haven’t updated in a while but here ya go again. I try to get the rest of my motivation back so i can update more often haha. I’m not sure how this turned out but let me now what you think! I hope you like this as well. Enjoy.

I was hanging out with Axl at their place, laying on the sofa and my head resting on Axl's thigh. I stared at the ceiling and Axl was watching tv. The year was going to change from 1985 to 1986 tonight, i don't know if we even had any plans for New Years Eve. I didn't feel like going out tonight and getting myself drunk. But apparently the rest of the boys had other things in their minds. Slash, Izzy, Duff and Steven stormed in to the apartment from the door. I turned my gaze to them but didn't get up from my position. ”Yo, what's up?” Slash asked us, smirking. I narrowed my eyes suspiciously when i noticed the expression on his face. ”Why are you smiling like that?” i asked carefully. He just shrugged. ”No reason. Are you two going to lie there like that all day?” Slash said, lifting one of his eyebrows, not believing what he was just looking at. ”Look, i'm not going to the bar tonight, that place is so stuffed today that you can't even breathe there properly,” i stated seriously but Duff just rolled his eyes. ”And who said we were going to the bar today?” Duff asked and i furrowed my eyebrows, changing my position on the sofa so i was sitting instead and not laying anymore. He took a bag of cocaine from his pocket. ”Are you serious now?” i chuckled, i didn't use drugs frequently at all. I mean, i had tried few times, which was kinda relaxing to be honest, but that's it. I opened my mouth, meaning to refuse the offer, but eh, why not. --- The next morning i woke up my back hurt like hell. I wasn't even sleeping on my own bed and it smelled like vomit and booze. I felt someone's heart pumping against my right ear and an arm around me, keeping me close to them. I opened my eyes and noticed that i had been sleeping on a floor the whole time. No wonder my back was suffering this bad. I moved my gaze up and noticed that my head had been resting on Axl's chest. He was still asleep. ”Axl,” i whispered but got no reaction. ”Axl, wake up,” i repeated louder which made him open his eyes. ”Hmph, what,” he muttered, looking tired as hell. I was looking like shit as well. He shook his head a bit and moved his gaze to my direction. ”What happened?” He winced and got up, holding his head with his hands. I raised myself to sit as well and looked around me, pondering the situation for a moment. Shit. ”Are we in jail?” i asked and furrowed my eyebrows. I felt like i would throw up soon. Axl looked confused for a moment until realized.

”What the fuck did we do?” Axl asked, trying to survive with his headache. ”Better question would be why you have a braid,” i giggled and he examined confused his strawberry blonde hair which were done to a French braid. I stood up from the ground. ”Hey! Is anyone there?” i tried to yell and waited for a moment but nobody came to see us. I sighed and went back to sit on the ground, back against the shitty wall. I didn't even want to look at a mirror right now and see what i looked like. My white t-shirt smelled like alcohol and looked like someone had poured two bottles of beer on it or something. And my jeans were super dirty. Axl moved to sit next to me and huffed. He was quiet for a moment until suddenly started chuckling. I turned my head around to look at him. ”What's so funny?” i asked confused. ”I remember now what happened.” Axl's POV We were walking down the street, Amy and I, with no exact direction to go. We had just left from my and the guys’ apartment. I had my arm around her shoulder and she wouldn't stop giggling which made me laugh as well. ”Oh my god,” she gasped, eyes wide, and covered her mouth with her hand. I looked at her curiously. ”What?” ”I heard there's a sale in the store near,” she said, still eyes wide. ”I'm hungry.” We headed to the grocery store. It was really late and they were going to close in 15 minutes. Atleast i guess so. The place was almost empty, there wasn't anyone else than the cashier and some drunk teenagers. The cashier looked so exhausted and pissed off. Amy walked to the freezers and took a box of pizza. ”That's massive, are ye gonna eat all that by yourself?” i tried to mumble but she just burst out laughing. ”Why do you always sound like a pirate when you're high?” she asked between her giggles. I just rolled my eyes, smiling, and turned around to go to the alcohol selection. She came after me, hugging tightly her pizza box against her chest. ”Have you not had enough booze already?” I looked at her and snorted. ”Yeah, sure.” I turned my gaze back to the alcohols and took couple of bottles of vodka and two whiskey bottles on my hands. ”Wait,” she suddenly said, confused. ”Do we even have enough money?” Oh crap. I looked at the whiskey bottle for a while and could be fucking sure it started talking to me. ”Well Jack Daniels gave his permission. He's the one we're kidnapping anyway so,” i said and shrugged, trying to keep my best pokerface but couldn't help it. ”That's true,” she said nodding eagerly. We started walking outside of the store and right when the cashier didn't look at us we ran outside. But the cashier turned to look at our running figures when he heard the door opening and closing. ”Hey! Come back here! I'm calling the cops!” We were running as fast as we could and soon ended up to a park, which wasn't even that far from the store to be honest. It was probably midnight at the moment. Sky was pitch black and the moon was bright as hell. Amy dropped the pizza on the ground next to her and sat down. I pulled a cigarette from my pocket and lighted it. ”So where's the oven?” she asked after opening the box and stood up, looking around her. I was also trying to look around me but didn't see one. ”Have they seriously not built an oven outside? How am i gonna eat this ice fucker now?!” she pouted frustrated and threw it back on the ground. ”Want a cigarette?” i asked casually and threw the packet and the lighter for her which she grabbed straight from air. ”Thanks.” We sat on the cold ground and took both gulps of whiskey. We looked at the sky full of stars, neither of us saying a word, but soon we saw huge, colorful fireworks exploding against the dark sky. I automatically put my arm around her shoulder and she rested her head on my shoulder. ”Happy New Years, Axl,” she said quietly. ”Happy 1986, Amy,” i said back. She just chuckled and i looked at her curiously. ”What?” ”Never thought i'd hear someone say that to me,” she answered, laughing, and i chuckled as well. ”Last time it was 2017.” ”Yeah, it's still kind of surreal to think about it that you actually came from the future,” i remarked and smiled which she did too. ”Do you still miss the time you came from a lot?” ”Yeah of course, sometimes, but i still like being here a lot,” she said which made me really happy. ”Well, i'm really glad that we got to know you. You've become one of the most important persons in my life,” i said carefully. ”Woah, now we're just getting too emotional,” she chuckled. ”But you too, Axl. You too.” The fireworks soon finally stopped and we heard just drunk people yelling loudly in the distance and singing songs from ABBA or something, which really ruined the moment. I had started to stroke her hair without even noticing and we were both quiet for a moment. ”Can i braid your hair?” she asked suddenly and looked at me, smiling, a hopeful twinkle in the eyes. I raised my eyebrows as much as i could but finally rolled my eyes and gave up. She let a quick 'yay' out of her mouth to the chilly air and sat behind me, taking my hair in her hands. As far as i remember, nobody had ever braided my hair. We had been sitting in the park about an hour and become already quite drunk, as if we weren't high enough already. We started walking back home and she leaned against me to maintain her balance and i grabbed her by her waist. ”Hey, there they are! They stole stuff from my store!” some young man, probably in his 20s, yelled and pointed at us. I assume he was the cashier from the store, why were they still here? We were too tired and drunk to run away and even realise the whole situation properly. Another man turned to look at us and turned out to be a police. ”Whatt –,” i tried to mumble but couldn't get proper words out of my mouth anymore. And here ended my flashback of the night. ”Woah. Well, that was wild,” Amy said and laughed. ”Yeah, i remember now. But i still don't understand who poured beer on my chest.” I shrugged but before i could answer the door to our cell opened and a cop, Duff and Izzy stepped inside. Duff couldn't help but laugh when he saw what kind of condition we were in, Izzy instead tried his best to hide his amusement but failed as well. ”Well, you guys are free to go now. Next time try to bring your wallets with you when you need snack,” the cop stated seriously, looked at us with a very disapproving expression on his face and pointed at us with his finger. ”Yes, sir,” Amy said quietly and tried to hold her laughter and the police finally left us alone. ”Where the fuck did you two leave last night?” Duff asked, trying to look serious but couldn't help the smirk creeping on his face. ”I love your braids though. You should keep your hair like that more often. Did you do it?” Duff asked and turned his gaze to Amy. ”I totally did,” Amy said, nodding eagerly. ”Oh my god, i can't wait to see what kind of curls you're gonna have when you open it!” ”Who said i'm gonna open it? I'm definitely gonna keep my hair like this the rest of the day,” i answered with all my sarcasm, trying to look as serious as i could, which she just smiled and rolled her eyes to. ”So, shall we go? I'm starving!”
