I think, perhaps one of the funniest things to come from EPIC popularising the Odyssey is that now a ton of people think Poseidon wanted to kill Odysseus.

In the Odyssey, Poseidon has no intention of killing Odysseus. In fact, part of the whole reason Zeus lets Poseidon do whatever he wants even though he thinks Odysseus is rad and should get to kiss his wife is explicitly because Poseidon had no intentions of killing Odysseus. Poseidon wanted to pay back the suffering/inconvenience blinding Polyphemus would have caused. It's a really abstract thing tbh. How do you pay back someone permanently disabling your son? Poseidon's solution was just to amputate Odysseus from his other half; i.e. Penelope. The end game was never murder, it was always an endurance race.

Also, for those wondering if there's any sort of in text reason for why Poseidon wasn't around in God Games - at the time in the Odyssey when Athena petitions Zeus to let Odysseus leave Calypso's island, Poseidon was -checks notes- on vacation in Ethiopia. Yep. He left to Ethiopia for a festival and thusly was very much absent for Athena's whole "please let Ody go? Please? 🥺" request.

have lots to say about the new episode of the pitt but right now i'm just gonna stick with the fact i think whitaker being the one to find robby was such a good writing choice. had anyone else walked into that room, robby probably never would've gotten up. that could either be because he has too much history with them (langdon, dana, and abbot) or because they probably wouldn't be able to say the right words to say to get him off the floor for whatever reason (mel, javadi, mohan, and santos).

whitaker is the only person around who wouldn't make it personal or awkward. he knows what it means to fail when it is completely out of your control, and most importantly, he doesn't have the world's highest expectations of robby. yeah he respects him, but not because he's worked with robby forever or anything. he respects robby because robby is his attending and is clearly knowledgable, no more and no less. whitaker sees robby, one of the most competent people he knows, on the floor having a breakdown. he also sees the dozens of people outside who need treatment and drags robby back out with him, because like whitaker so plainly puts it, if robby doesn't get back out there, they're fucked. for him, it's that simple, and it wouldn't be that simple for anyone else, and what they needed in that moment was someone who'd robby the hell back out there as fast as possible while still validating his feelings, and that's exactly what whitaker could do.

(whitaker also sees the hospital and medical school and all that in a different light than the other characters. he's a first generation college student from the middle of nowhere, studied theology in undergrad, and doesn't have any family involved in medicine. this isn't as related to this post specifically but it's relevant because it makes his approaches to everything very different, which we often see)

(cold hands) I dunno guys. I feel as though we don't talk enough about the whole ghost obsession/emotional purpose thing, or about the fact that they can lose their powers if they lose their purpose or ignore it for too long.

Personally I feel like that's a prime set up for some sort of horrendously angsty slow burn father-daughter reconciliation piece. Like Vlad himself hasn't spared a single thought about Dani in ages but he's still managing to hurt her when he's not even around because Dani can't reconcile her intense hatred and intense love for him, and the denial causes her to lose all of her powers.

Demon Twins AU but Danny is the stronger of the two

So I was thinking, instead of Damian being the stronger one of the two, what if Danny was the stronger one.

Danny was stronger, faster, better than Damian, even so far as to be more popular and social with the rest of the League than Damian. Danny was all around the one you'd expect to be the next Demon Head.

It could be the reason why Damian has such issues with Tim. Tim had more respect given to him by Bruce and by Dick, so Damian had a major infieiority complex.

But back to LoA, when Danny and Damian were growing up. Danyal was slated to be the true heir to the League. Smart, tactical, and always his grandfather's favorite. He'd even won battles over Damian more times than he's lost.

Then one day, Danyal was gone, disappearing out of thin air. Maybe the stress got to him, maybe he did it to protect his brother from the inevitable death battle he knew he'd win, maybe it was Clockwork shenanigans, but either way, the heir was gone and no one knows what happened to him.

And everyone turned their head to Damian, the weaker one. The spare.
