Spirit blessed Zuko ideas bc now he's living in my head rent free

- Agni is actually a spirit in this AU bc I was devastated to learn that she does not, in fact, exist in canon

- Zuko was born Agni's favorite, born on the summer solstice at noon, Agni wished to give him many a gifts at his birth but was only allowed one so she gave him a kind heart in hopes it would heal her nation

- at 13 Zuko is banished and his bearly healed wound is infected, almost killing him prematurely

- Iroh prayed to Agni to save his nephew, she obliged, taking this opportunity to bestow him with gifts she couldn't at his birth.

- Zuko's scar tissue turned from melted skin to firey red scales, his hair from a brown deeper than dark chocolate to yellow so warm it looked like liquid gold, and his eyes from golden brown to the pure gold of a dragon's. He radiated light, just like the sun. And his fire turned from an almost solitary orange to a rainbow of colors refracting in the light.

- also, she gave him a dragon

- Sokka thinks Zuko will turn into the sun (he will not)

- Zuko spends like half of season one trying to convince the Gaang that he's there to teach Aang fire bending, not capture him a take him to the Fire Nation

- Everyone is generally disturbed by Zuko when first meeting him because he's the only person in the world to have blonde hair

I think the problem with live action adaptations is that we really don't want them.

People are looking for every way to hate these shows and movies because we love the originals so much. We're starved for new, original content that's genuine and not just a cash grab.

Stop dragging past material back for alright to mediocre stuff that really doesn't do anything new. Give us NEW SHIT. Have these big production companies forgotten how to like... make up a story?

The LA avatar is ok. Just ok, where the original was fenominal. It has the same story beats, but just feels kinda hollow. PJO had a lot of the same issues.

Also Percy Jackson should have been a 2D animated series I mean COME ON. Animation has been valued less and less lately and it's just really sad.

The only exception to my ranting is the One Piece LA those guys somehow did it SO right. I never thought I'd love a live action remake before that.

the big defence ive seen to natla removing sokka’s s1 arc (overcoming his misogyny) is that it actually adresses the complaint that the water tribe (which is based on indigenous peoples particularly the inuit people) specifically is shown as sexist. i would support that reasoning, except the showrunners didnt even do that. the NORTHERN water tribe is still sexist. its just that sokka isnt because they were worried that giving one of their main characters an unlikeable trait, even one they grow past, wouldnt be well received. which i dont understand, bc sokka is literally evidence that thats not true, but whatever. bottom line if it was an attempt at cultural sensitivity (could have been good!) they didnt even go through with it. it was just a marketability choice.
