Hello! I was wondering if you would think about posting tutorials or stuff like that! I really admire your art style, and there are a lot of things that you were capable of drawing that I and many others are not.

OFCC!! this is so sweet 😭😭 I broke my process down into steps so hopefully it’s easier to understand. This is just a general tutorial, but if you’d like a more in depth one on something specific do let me know and I can try!! I am not a professional (yet) and only a student but I hope my tips can be useful!!

Step by Step tutorial + full speed-paint of my Cassius drawing below cut 💜

Using references has been something I’ve more recently gotten into the habit of, and by god I’ve improved so much because of it. Studio classes really forced me to get used to drawing from reference, and I’m glad I got that push.

For finding references, I usually use Pinterest, or I take my own photos (like for this cover image!! i couldn’t figure out the pose LMAO) For this tutorial, I’m going to be using my recent drawing of Lord Cassius from KotLC as examples of my steps. When I’m searching for references, I like to type phrases and emotions I associate with the character and see what it gives me. For Cassius, I literally searched “Judgmental facial expression man” as my beginning search LOL.

From there, if I’m not immediately finding pictures I want to use, I try finding one that’s within the realm of what I’m looking for, and then continue deep diving under the recommended pictures below the one I clicked on. I find this is a good way to more quickly get the specifics you want, and it’s something I love about Pinterest.

You can also combine images together to create a new pose if you’re not finding exactly what you want! I love hodge-podging pictures together to create my scenes.

Along with pose references, I also like to gather emotion/body language references. Sometimes it’s just looking at different aesthetics I’m going for, and sometimes, like when I’m drawing sokeefe, it’s looking at pictures of couples. I study their facial expressions, and how their bodies interact in a space together, compared to more platonic relationships. I also just think it’s fun to study human behavior lol.

An extra thing I do when find references is also look for clothing inspiration! Especially with fantasy works like KotLC, it’s sometimes hard for me to come up with fashion for them. I often really like taking random elements from a couple different pictures, putting them together to create an outfit, and unifying them through color!

Once I have gathered a bunch of references that I like, I sift through them and pick out the ones I think will go well together, both stylistically and composition-wise. I think it’s important to note that your drawings don’t have to be a 1:1 replica of the reference!! The pictures are there to guide your drawing, but not dictate it. Some parts of the picture I will reference a lot more heavily, often things I struggle with like hands, while things I’m more comfortable with like expressions I will stray from the reference a bit and give it my own flare.

Whether your making a drawing like the ones I will show below (of the multiple smaller drawings of Cassius all laid out on one spread) or more of a scene drawing, I find using the reference photos to roughly “sketch” out how I want the composition to look to be extremely helpful. Especially with digital art, using the images as a rough guide is easy to create multiple compositions to choose from.

As you can see in this picture, I’ve cut out the backgrounds/parts of the reference photos that I don’t need, so I can better see what my composition will actually look like. I’ll have the full speed-paint of my Cassius drawing at the bottom of this post, and in that you can see briefly at the beginning me cutting apart and piecing together a bunch of images, until I landed on this layout.

When actually laying out the images, I always have in mind the viewer’s eye. I want to guide the viewer through the drawing, giving them lots of entertainment while not being an overwhelming amount of information.

When it comes to sketching, I have a lot of different approaches that I use, depending on the time I have and what I need to draw. Most of the time, I lightly trace over the reference image, blocking out any large and important shapes. This makes it a lot easier for my brain to understand and replicate. When I’m tracing, I also like to mark where certain features are, like the nose and eyes, along with the curves of the shapes. That is especially important on the face.

I like to turn the reference off, or put it in another window, bring my traced shapes to the left side, then begin my own drawing on the right. At first, I focus on making sure the proportions are correct and the shapes match. After that, I go back over and adjust the sketch to my style, and the characteristics of whoever I’m drawing. Often the reference image’s face/body will look different from the character, so it’s important to understand the fundamental shapes of the body, and how they are interacting, rather than just copying the image straight up. Here are some examples below from the speed-paint 👇

If I’m feeling stuck and like something doesn’t look right, I’ll hover my drawing over the tracing, and sometimes over the reference to see what is not lining up. Then putting it back off to the side and working on that section. I also flip the canvas a lot, to help my eyes not get too used to my drawing.

I keep repeating that process until all of my images are sketched out in my style and look like the character I want. I’ll also leave notes for myself to remember details I need to add when I’m closer to being done, and don’t want to draw LOL

Also note that some people’s sketches are incredibly neat and thought out, while others’ (like me) opt for figuring out the details in the later stages. Either way works, it’s kinda just what works for you. What sketches need to have are solid fundamentals, and if that’s looking good, then you’re set.

I looooovvveee line art /gen and i know a lot of people don’t which makes me sad 🥀

I get it, it can be tedious, but I really do enjoy bringing my drawing to life and finding all the details I want to add. I used to really struggle with my lineart feeling very stiff compared to my sketch, and it took me a long while to learn how to keep the vibe of the sketch in my final drawing. I’m not always as successful as I want to be, but that’s okay, my goal is to keep learning not to be perfect.

I’ve found that utilizing line weight helps that problem a lottt. Also just having fun with your lines, like in the sketching stage. When I was younger I remember doing line art and needing every.single.pixel to be perfect, and it really sucked all the fun out of it. There are tons of different ways to do line art, and something that helped me get out of that perfectionist mindset was just looking at artists I admired. I studied their speed-paints, what kinda of brushes they used, and how they used line in their line art.

A lot of them had more expressive strokes than I realized, often using the weight of lines to exaggerate the drawing.

The line art doesn’t need to be out-of-this-world to be good. I like using a textured brush, with lines that connect for the most part. I try to put heavier lines on places of emphasis, like the outlines, folds, points, and where lines connect. Usually, the smaller or softer the details, the lighter and thinner the lines.

It took me a long time to find a style of line art that I really enjoyed, and even now sometimes I switch between brushes. Something that art school taught was how important play is. Even just messing around with brushes helped me find how I liked to draw. All of the brushes I use I've found for completely free on Gumroad. If you're ever curious what I use I'd be happy to make a post about it!

Color!!! This is one of my favorite steps, and also the one I find most frustrating. I absolutely love color theory and tweaking colors to look completely different than reality, and it sometimes bites me in the butt lol. Recently I've gotten a lot better with base colors, and I always try to set the background to a mid-tone grey instead of blaring white. I tend to favor saturated yet darkish colors if that makes sense.

The grey background allows the colors to not have to fight so much to be seen against a white background, and also helps me keep my values in check. I'm always thinking about readability in terms of value as well as saturation when I'm coloring.

I always check my values by having a layer above all others filled with white and set to the blending mode saturation. I want the main points of the character to be distinguishable and easy to read, especially from a distance or if you squint. This is why I kinda hate drawing blond characters because it is a lot more difficult to find values of a light skin tone and light hair that are different enough without it looking insane. Some areas I succeed more in terms of "value readability" and some are weaker. Not every single color needs to have extremely different values, but the composition needs to include large areas of varying value. I also use value in my colors to frame things I want to emphasize, like Biana's face in front of her dark hair.

You can also frame pieces of a drawing with the actual colors, like in my Cassius drawing, I wanted the drawing in the foreground to stand out, so I used tints and shades of blue for the outfit behind him. Blues and yellows often go well together, and it gave me a nice opportunity to bring him even more forward.

When it comes to actually choosing colors, I like to chose a color palette for that character ahead of time. I also limit my use of different colors and tones both as a challenge and to make my pieces more cohesive. I love reusing colors, like the whites of a character's eyes being the same as their clothes.

For Cassius, I knew I wanted his palette to be primary golds, whites and blues. White can be a particularly difficult color to make, because it depends so heavily on its environment to exist. This is why I usually chose the brightest white and the skin color first. I absolutely need the white to pop and I need the skin to look alive and well, so those two colors take the highest importance for me. For each character's white, I take a look at the color palette I assigned them, and try a few different kinds of white alongside the skin tone. I try giving them cool and warm undertones that correspond with their color palettes, then chose the combinations I like the best. I always try to master a few colors together at a time. Trying to get all of the colors to work together all at once is overwhelming to me, and often leaves my drawings looking messy.

I know a lot of artists that fill the inside of their character with a base color that they want to tie all the other colors back to, and I've heard that works great too! Color is really something that you learn through play and experimentation. It took me a very long time to get a good grip on it, and even now I stumble sometimes trying to wrangle my colors. Sometimes just going back to the basic color wheel is what helps me get back on track.

The most important thing about color is just that they always exist in context. Take them out of that context, and they can look completely different, like in my example below ^.^ This is a very extreme version of what I would use for a white, but I thought it was a good way to show just how different something reads when its against a different color/value.

As for shading, I've been trying a lot of different techniques lately. I'm in-between shading styles right now, so I'm still trying to figure myself out too!! I do love using masks for shading though. I use them in my more simple/cel-shading, and for when I'm rendering.

The masks have been deleted by this point and I can't pull them from the speed paint :< but these layers I have highlighted came from the same mask. Basically, I make a clipping layer clipped onto the base colors, and fill the entire layer with whatever I want to shade with. Usually I use the layer mode multiply, and set the opacity down to whatever I want. After that, I make a mask of that clipped layer, and use the mask to carve out where I want the light. I like using masks because it lets me mess with opacity without messing with the layer's over all opacity.

After I'm satisfied with what I've carved out, I merge the mask and shading layer. Then, I select the contents of the shading layer, invert that selection, make a new layer, and fill the inverted selection with my lighting color. Then I mess around with blending modes and opacities till I get it how I want it!

After I discuss the content of the painting with the client and receive additional materials from them (a photo of the person I am drawing, or references that are close to what is expected of me), I start creating the first sketch.

In accordance with the request, I make a sketch of the future painting, which will contain all its important elements and an approximate color scheme (if any) that I will use. At this stage, you can freely make your amendments, and when the content suits you, I will ask you for an advance payment of half the cost of the work without additional prices of background or detailing.

After that, work on the portrait will begin. Its duration varies on several factors - to a greater extent on the volume and complexity of the work itself, as well as on my own workload with other projects.

After completing the portrait, I will send you its version in low quality- after you familiarize yourself with it (there is also possible some edits - of tones and color, elements of shading, character features and small details), and after you pay the rest of the amount, you shall receive the final result of our artwork! ~

I'm Alive

I posted this on patreon so I might as well post it again here. Hopefully current and past patrons see this as well as people who have just been generally curious about where I've been.

I'm very sorry for not being around and I'm very grateful to those who stuck around. To those who didn't, I get it and I truly appreciate you passing through. 

Last year and the beginning of this year have been pretty bad. Some of you might have heard about my grandma's death and sadly, she was just the first of the family losses in the time I've been gone. There was also a friend's death discovery, my parents' health tanking, my friends Going Through It, and my own physical/mental problems. I didn't want to talk to the internet about these things because they were/are very overwhelming and private and tbh I used all my energy to help with the household and make sure work got turned in on time. When I had spare time after dealing with the near constant disasters, I didn't really feel like interacting with the internet at all beyond using it as a way to talk to far away friends (mostly to give them the thumbs up that i was alive) or watch/read things when my brain was less scrambled. Social media was an absolute no go and I didn't have any non-work art to post so I just kind of mentally crawled under the porch to die lol. 

I only drew work related things for months due to extreme burnout and it took me almost a month off after my last job to remember how to create again. I couldn't draw or write, it was kinda like art block except it was more like nothing was there at all? It's hard to explain. 

Things are still happening but I need to get back in the saddle eventually so here I am. 

I'm going to post the little art I did in June and all the sketches I did in January when I re-learned how to draw for myself. Again, I'm so sorry for being away without saying anything and I'm grateful to whoever threw me a buck, or even just casually enjoyed my art. Leaving like I did was really irresponsible and there's no excuse for not at least making a post about all of this sooner.  Every month I got a patreon payment was another wave of guilt because I literally couldn't give y'all anything but at the same time that money was letting me book flights to funerals and keeping my mom comfortable while she recovered from surgery right after I spent a lot of my savings in 2022 trying to fight my late cat's cancer. And then not posting about what was going on made me more anxious as time went on because there was more guilt every month so I felt like I needed to come back with a bunch of art and energy and good reasons and it was just. A Mess. 

But anyway.

I'm alive, I'm back. The Horrors persist, but so do I.

"Crossed Blades" - @rebelontherocks. this is a...i think i have to call this a cozy sex romp. wyll and astarion are married, wyll is a busy duke, astarion needs more enrichment, astarion invents a very silly sex game by roleplaying teenage-wyll's smut books. wyll is So Deeply Into It. i love this fic for its characterization, its banter, and its commitment to paralleling character psychology to what sounds like an absolutely wild in-universe smut series (that is sketched with an impressive amount of detail and care tbh??).

"Comfort" - @acephalouscreature. short and sweet. wyll is injured and everyone expects astarion to take care of him. luckily, astarion has a dastardly plan to fake feelings for wyll by thinking about his feelings for wyll. you sure fooled them, astarion!! also featuring: astarion trying to figure out how to comfort someone by thinking about horses

"False Compare" - @jellyfishline. i'd recommend checking out their work generally, but i fell in love with this one first. wyll writes a sonnet! astarion is mean about it until he isn't! deeply in-character with an emphasis on how each of them communicates affection. gorgeous prose

"how to escape the torment nexus" - @ushauz. this series is incredibly unique, set in a fucked-up bad end where wyll is a lemure, astarion is still on the run from cazador, and almost everyone else is dead. where this really shines imo is wyll's POV: he's been through literal hell, doesn't remember his life, and is wading through his unconscious attachment to astarion like a foreign language. (side note also read Heart of Stone for a great lae'zel character piece)

"An Acorn in the Moonlight" - @anonyhex. this is one of the first wyllstarion fics i ever read and it has a special place in my heart!! it's particularly cathartic to read for Wyll reasons, including him actually getting to Have Emotions about what Ulder put him through. and they are so sweet with each other!!

"temporal displacement" - @purplecatghostposts. ok this came out like. yesterday but listen, i LOVE outsider pov of an astarion who's learned to show affection somewhat, seen from the eyes of someone who doesn't know his history and has no reason to suspect All Of That. and when that "outsider" is a dying 20-year-old wyll who just saw astarion step out of a time portal. well.

"nothing to make a song about" - @grey-wardens. for when you want something meaty and casefic-adjacent, set in a post-canon where wyll is the blade and not the duke (for once). contains bonding on the road, getting romantically snowed in together, and Symbolic Fetch-Quests.

i am also watching closely: "One of Those Prince-Types" by @lesbianralzarek and "sigh no more" by @tomorrowsrain. both are one chapter in and promise to be meaty, with execution that already feels very very promising

Sam’s awe for the elves comes to his aid here for it gives him a bit of courage to talk to you, but also disguises his attraction to you as that wonder-filled curiosity. He tells himself-nay, all but commands himself- that curiosity it shall remain. You are very pretty after all, but what would an elf want with a- “Are you, then, the gardener I heard about from Frodo?” Half jumping out of his skin, Sam focuses again on your eyes, his own quite wide. “Oh, yes indeed! Indeed I am. What did he tell you about me?” “Only that you tend every growing thing with the utmost care, and if anyone knew a thing about the Shire-plants, it was you, Master Gamgee.” “Begging your pardon, but you can just call me Sam if it suits you.” “It does indeed, Sam. If I ask it of you, would you answer a few questions? Look at a few sketches? My task, no, my passion, is my book of botany, and I believe you would be a great help.” “You could use my help? Of course! Lead the way.” Standing up as straight and tall as he could, Sam remained at attention, grinning up at you. His smiled warmed you as you led him between the great trees of Lothlórien to your study.

Merry

“You’re an elf!” “Yes,” you giggle, “And you are a hobbit, are you not?” “That’s right, a hobbit of the Shire! …Are we really going to Rivendell?” Merry’s smile is infectious. “Yes,” you answer with a nod, “Your friend is safe there and so shall you be.” “Is it true what they say about it?” “That would depend.” “That it’s the most beautiful place in Middle Earth, positively glowing with magic?” The flutter of joy in your heart that always comes with thoughts of home returns in full warmth. “It is to me,” you answered, glancing back down into the hobbit’s dark blue eyes. “I think it will stay second to Hobbiton for me,” Merry confessed with a wide smile, “Although if you’re there, Rivendell may win out yet.”

Pippin

“You’re all very good at that, you know.” Turning on your heels, you see a hobbit standing leaned against a pillar on the far side of your practice area. Crossing it to retrieve your arrow from its embedment in your target, you watch your visitor with curious amusement. A smirk spreads across your face. “Archery? Far from it. My brother alone proves that.” “Not a good shot?” The hobbit replies. “Accidentally caught one of Lord Elrond’s banners once. Tore the whole thing down.” “I’d likely do the same,” the hobbit admits with a sheepish smile. “You know not until you take up a bow yourself. Come…” “Pippin.” “Pippin,” you smile, reaching a hand down to urge him forward by the shoulder and seeing Pippin smile at the contact, “Stand here.” Remaining there as he did, Pippin bobbed and bounced on his heels as you retrieved a child’s training bow. As soon as he accepted it you stood behind the hobbit, wrapping your arms over his and sliding his hands into the proper grip. “How is that?” “Excellent,” he said. “Good. Now, my dear Pippin, let us take a shot!”

Bilbo

Nothing could have prepared him for what awaited him upon entry to the Valley of Imladris. Not the cascading waterfalls or white columns, not the great libraries, no. You. Far taller than him and much fairer, you stun the hobbit like nothing else. How can he address you? What could he possibly find to discuss with someone in the council of Lord Elrond himself? …Literature. He can do that! As it turns out, his stroke of luck is greater than he might have anticipated: you are a writer, painstakingly translating old Quenya texts. “I-I’ve studied a fair bit of the Sindar’s language, but this? This is quite unfamiliar to me.” Scooting your chair closer, you smile down at the hobbit. “Here, allow me to show you.” Bilbo leans closer- he must, for you invite him to sit at your side and peer over your shoulder, eyes scanning between unfamiliar characters and your lovely profile.

Rosie

Her gut reaction becomes her voiced reaction: “I never thought I would see an elf in real life.” Sheepishness overtakes her as soon as the words leave her mouth, though. Chuckling gently, you admit this was quite a journey for you, too. Another initial reaction and joke from Rosie is that you’ve never tasted real ale, then- hobbits’ ale. You’re quickly being poured a glass. Over drinks she asks you questions, like what plants grow in your region and what your favorites are. What you eat, what you drink. All the questions you might expect from a hobbit, but with such a glowing, endearing smile the whole time.

Day 31: Wonder

Heyyy it's been a hot minute since I posted something (whoops)

I swear I didn't mean to take this long but my god did art block hit hard (I wanted to post a drawing I did in between but I didn't want to mess up this whole Inktober "streak", I guess. BUT now that this is finally done I can post HOPEFULLY a little more now)

ANYWAY I FINISHED INKTOBER AND I KNOW IT'S ALREADY THE END OF FEBRUARY BUT WHO CARES RAH So what have we learned? Procrastination and art block are the absolute worst😁

Guys I can finally move on to my other drawings I had to put on hold cause I was determined to finish this first 🏃

Even though this whole thing took me so long it helped me a lot with pushing myself a bit out of the comfort zone and also being quicker with my art like in my Cuphead era (The insta people IYKYK) I am happy with my progress but I'll stick to quality over quantity since I want every drawing of mine to have 110% effort put into it😼

With uni starting very soon, I'm not sure how much time I will get but I will do my absolute best to pump out some art, whether it's a simple doodle, sketch or full art piece [I'm also hoping to finish my unfinished art as soon as possible, so be on the lookout for that ;) ]

They/He lesbian aromantic Annabeth. In full agreement about the owl wing top scars - also they may be poly? Idk i think that could be nice.

I also think they have a shit haircut he did himself with a knife in the mirror. They're very proud of it (- and lowkey they shouldn't be because it looks BAD).

Probably got a dog on their therapist's advice because after he realizes he's an abusive partner and had a lot of Luke's grooming affect who they are and how they treat people, he's self isolating and he's not ready for people connections so. Dog. He has one massive drooling fluffy thing and one tiny lil chihuahua lookin one - no specific breed I bet they're shelter dogs.

You're not an autistic Annabeth believer, and neither am I. I don't have any specific hcs but I do think he has low empathy.

I imagine they live on the road because they can't feel comfortable in one place even after everything they've gone through. Goes around the country to look at different museums and sketch/photograph architecture and work on their own designs. Probably sells their own sketches at small venues, most definitely writing a book about it.

Tried to go to college for an Architecture degree but dropped out because let's be fair he would never fuck with structured education and also become of the above "they can't feel comfortable in one place after everything" thing.

Has the shittiest car in the entire world. It's breaking down every week. This thing is running on duct tape and prayers.

Doesn't want contact with Persephone out of both guilt and also because it brings up bad memories of some very bad moments in their life, but through talking to Grover, eventually Grover reactivates an old group chat of the three of them from when they were kids. There's not really friendship there but they occasionally text happy birthday or send photos and respond with like. one positive emoji. Less friendship and more "yeah I'm still alive. here's a dog photo".

Tries to help out younger demigods around the country when they meet them. Tells them stories about this cool girl who's the daughter of posideon and kicks ass. Teaches them what he can. Tries to be better than Luke. Some of those kids bum rides in his van for a bit, some remember him and see him later in like a different state two years later and catch up. Accidentally becomes like a mentor figure to half the United States' demigod population - again, Luke parallels, except HE'S not a PIECE OF SHIT. He actually can interact with children WITHOUT being a pedo or a fascist about it.

Has the whitest music taste known to man - we all have our flaws. Not like taylor swift, but def VERY white.

Prob does art therapy I think.

Gets a platonic partner when he goes to a small art show and displays his work, meets the girl at the display next to his, and they talk for 6 hours and it's wonderful. She gives him his first tattoo and they love it.

I do think he's trying his best to be less White Feminist and learn and listen to other people. Probably goes to protests and poc events (mainly artist based ones) if he stumbles across one to talk to people. He fucks up a lot but IS making an effort even if he sticks his foot in his mouth every once and a while.

tldr I actually really have a soft spot for Annabeth even if they kind of suck because I think they should be able to get better. In my heart their post-canon is becoming transgender and running off into the sunset to get better as a person and become a better person than all his abusers and be super happy far away from Percy.

My Art Process(Mostly Ben LOL):Stylization and Posing

My moot @softdrafts asked for some looks into how I stylize/get art down, and as someone who struggled with it for a while I thought I might as well make a full post going into as much detail as I can without it being a mess 😭. This will be split into two parts within the post, posing/anatomy, and stylization/how I got my artstyle to where it is now.

Posing/Anatomy/Getting a Sketch Down:

To be 100% truthful, I do still have a pretty difficult time with anatomy, and a lot of it is just— fuck around and find out LMFAO. One thing I will say is use references, if it's a pose you're already comfortable doing than that's totally fine, but if you're having any trouble with a pose, try to find a reference. This can be a photo, another art piece(though if you ref someone elses art thats not made as a ref please credit it🙏), or a 3D model, hell you can even take the photo yourself if you're having trouble finding a ref.

When it comes to getting a pose down, you're gonna want to work in simplified shapes, these could range from circles, to lines, to random blobs, as long as it helps YOU it's a valid baseline. I've found the shapes that help ME out the most, but you may have different ones for yourself. To give an example, I'll find a basic pose and break it down into the shapes so I can translate it onto paper.

(Working traditionally cause I don't wanna get on comp LMAO) *It's atp where I would make any transforming tweaks if I was working digitally, just anothing that I think looks off, whether it be a bit too big/small or at the wrong angle. Don't try to be too exact with it, that's how you end up with stiff poses, you can tell mine isn't exact, but it's got the basic shapes down. It's also atp that I start adding little details, just small thinks to mark specific spots, like the navel, I like to add a bit of details to the shoulders her, things that can make something that would otherwise look too flat start to come to life, even just a little. Here is where you can start using your ref very loosely, esp if your figure is going to be— yk, clothed lmao.

After the last step, I just start adding details, if I know that a certain area is gonna be covered by clothing I don't put *too* much detail into it, basic shapes but nothing thats gonna make you go :( when you have to cover it up. Remember that you can use more than just the body to show motion, objects in the photo, clothing on the model, hair, it moves with the figure, make use of it!

Reminder that this is *my* process, some people need more steps and that's okay! Sometimes working in smaller parts works for someone, while looking at the bigger picture works for others. I'd personally say start with the bigger picture and THEN move into details, focus on flow first and detail second or it may end up a little stiff.

Stylization/Finding your Artstyle(ft.Ben Pincus):

Another quick disclaimer, I am still working on my artstyle p much everyday, so what I say now might change tomorrow, but this is how I got to a point where I'm comfortable with my stylization. I also want to mention, stylization can be different based off characters, not just your artstyle as a whole, ex.I've been drawing Ben since CT dropped, I've drawn him 50+ times which is how I've been able to get where I am with him, vs a character like Kenji, who I've draw less than 10 times and am still working on how I draw him specifically.

But like, yeah, it's taken a while, example below lmao

Not only am I a lot more consistent with how I draw him now, but I also prefer how I draw him now (thank GOD) because he feels more on model wothout being an EXACT replica.

Overall, some of it IS my artstyle itself developing, while it's also me learning overtime what I like when it comes to drawing him. I kinda worked in steps, I realized that while I wanted his hair to be fluffier than in canon, I didn't want it THAT fluffy, I learned which shapes I liked to use for him, because once again, art at its core, is a buncha shapes, his bangs, his sideburns, his overall face shape, its all just ✨️shapes✨️.

I got a palette down for him next, having a palette really helps with consistency tbh, even when it comes down to things in their outfits, for example, I always like to use the orange from his shirt SOMEWHERE in his design if I can.

I think the major thing is his face, his features are the thing I struggled with the most, I had a lot of trouble combining his canon features with my style, but after studying a lot of screenshots, figuring out-once again-shapes, and how I wanted to translate them into my art, I got it down to a point I'm pretty comfy with. The first thing I got down was his nose, I've always loved his nose, plus I find that the nose can be the most important feature to make sure they look like themselves, I simpled it down to shapes(turn me saying shapes into a drinking game atp) for the most part its straight with a bump at the end, I emphasize the bump but it's still the basic shape.

Next was his brows, they're thick, but they're not super dark, I find that even a small detail like matching his brows to his hair rather than filling them in black already makes him look more in character. Then his eyes, they're round, but small, I won't lie i do just kinda go with the flow when im drawing his eyes, but for the most part I give him:Heavy eyelids, downturned corners of his eyes, and no extra lashes. His mouth is just—paper thin white boy lips and a tooth gap because I refuse to take that away from him.

Also do studies, this is the only photo I can come up with for a study, but here you can see my stylistic choices while also still keeping the ref photos in mind.

Once you get to a point where the important details/features look how you want, you can start adding extra details, I give Ben scars and moles, as well as darker freckles, I can add these extra things while having it still look like Ben because I've gotten the key details down. I also stylize his body, I give him bigger arms, make him beefier because— he deserves it man.

Tl;dr because my words became a mess at a certain point, find key details in the design, play around with them to suit your style while also keeping them on base (to your liking). Also. Shapes. Reference but remember to not be TOO focused on small details, more the big picture.

While I managed to use roughly two weeks of on-and-off planning, researching, and storyboarding, I only had a full week to finish it. Alrighty, I'll put my watered down unhinged thoughts below. No extra drawings down there if you're curious haha (unless you want to see the storyboard and the characters' full body character sheet, lemme know). You can skip the stuff underneath the Keep Reading for all parts.

This fic had me grinning from ear to ear every time I read this. The atmosphere, how it goes from POV to POV—of pure fear and panic—and the peak excitement I got when Yuuji properly meets Gojou, like brooooo 😭

Gosh I cannot emphasise how much I love this fic. I’ve always been wanting to make a whole comic out of it, especially since it was 2 chapters and it doesn’t look like the author will update it, but it just… kind of forgotten ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿

But then the author posted a new chapter and I told myself this is a sign I should really start.

also goddamn I was so naive to think I can tackle 2 chapters as comic—no I was in fact cannot

The moment I laid my eyes on the first paragraph, things were portrayed very vividly in my mind. The panel, the angle, Gojou's head rolling down... I was like, hell yeah. Then I continued reading and I finally succumbed to my desire to draw this out.

At first I want to adapt this into a vertical format like those manhwas. However the longer I try to learn and storyboard it... I am simply not yet comfortable with it, especially for such a big project. Even the 1st storyboard starts vaguely vertical before the panels quickly crammed into that B4-B5 format lol. The first sketch estimated 69 (heh) pages for 90% of chapter 1. I said "no" for my own sanity and fully focused on the usual manga format and it was narrowed down to 60. Still a lot though, quantity and time-wise. So with a heavy heart, I can only do the majority of chapter 1 :”) I really really want to draw Sukuna talks back to Gojou—do you have any idea how good that scene was??? Gojou tried so hard to restrain himself, he’s so other I love him 😭

Due to the sheer length of this comic (I'm still in disbelief), I have limit lots of things, and that includes the drawing. If you've seen my other JJK fanarts, they are more rendered than this one. Well, this one is purely sketched with the help of the eraser to tidy up some lines. This is also the first fanart that I did purely on Photoshop, so I can control the typesets and drawings in one place. Usually, I use Photoshop for panels and typesetting and Krita for drawing.

I don't really like Photoshop's brush, but it did really well in curbing my perfectionist tendencies, so that's good.

It's also been quite a while since I draw in general (sobs) so... yeah, you might find differences, or not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

I know setting is important, but maaan I genuinely won't miss rereading chapter 83-93 with a heavy focus on background and character locations. I just want to read the action and dialogue😭 However continuity is really important. But my spatial intelligence is almost non-existent even GPS sometimes can't help me. All I'm saying is that if you find some silly drawing mistakes, do forgive me ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿I only drew all this in a week because otherwise I won't have another chance to complete this.

Well, lots of things I won't miss from this project, but haha let's talk about the characters instead because holy shit what was I thinking, starting this year drawing this many characters in the same project??? I have never drawn anyone here except for Yuuji, Gojou, Nanami and Megumi. I don't think I've ever drawn older Getou before. I already forgot how to draw my boy Yuuji and I gotta draw all these people???

This is what you call making a bad decision, kids. Don't do your "drawing warmup" after months of not drawing and tackling a project of a scale way bigger than you've ever tackled before.

Behind the OC: Nui Yoshikane

Nui Yoshikane.

Probably my most popular OC, all of you loved Nui. To my surprise too, considering that her character isn't that remarkable. But I am happy you liked her anyway. And because of this, since Nui is officially over a year old, I decided to make this post. To explain the character's creation process and the many changes that they went through.

I hope you'll enjoy it. ^^

Origin

Now, why did I create her? Well, you see a year ago I was planning a new fanfic. One where Tsumugi would wake up after the death and find herself in a non-despair universe with her classmates and herself attending Hope's Peak Academy. With none of them remembering anything from their time of the game.

Given that the story was supposed to be as mind-screwing and ambiguous than the actual V3 game, I knew I needed to add something to distort the truth even further.

And what better way to confuse Tsumugi, is by meeting herself? Or someone that looks oddly familiar to her, in a way.

And that's, how I decided to create the OC who would be in the future known as Nui Yoshikane.

Creation Process

When I created Nui, I was inspired by a certain character from a series that I just got into, around last year. Said series inspired me to write the above aforementioned fic to begin with.

I am talking about the series "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared." And the character I am referring to, is her.

Lesley. (Spoilers below)

The moment I saw her, I was obsessed with the character for a variety of reasons. One, her demeanor was so oddly comforting and I especially loved that accent of hers (Not sure if it's a British one, considering the actress of the character is welsh. Oh well.)

Either way, when I created Nui, I wanted to go for a similar character concept. Someone who takes Tsumugi's faux kindness up to the max, which would make her even creepier. The stitches on Nui's face are also a reference to Lesley in that regard.

Another inspiration for Nui's character, was the Beldam from Coraline.

In general, the sewing motif and her status as a seamstress, were inspired by the Beldam in that regard. Her pale skin and darker clothing colors were also inspired by the Beldam, especially her true form as seen above.

Another thing that was inspired by the Beldam regarding Nui's character, where the needle hands. I gave Nui some very thin and long fingers and sharp nails, to give her more of a terrifying look. And to tie in with the sewing motif.

The last character who inspired Nui Yoshikane, is a somewhat surprising choice. But that inspiration was none other than "The Most".

I am talking about Wally Darling.

When I first learned of Welcome Home, Wally Darling stuck to me. His friendly nature and yet his off-putting behavior on the Welcome Home Website instantly made me fall in love with him, as a character.

Due to this, Nui's slow and monotone speech pattern, her curious and almost child-like demeanor. And the general affable demeanor. Of course, since Welcome Home is still ongoing, Wally may develop differently and I am excited to see, how his character will develop.

But I digress. Those were the three main inspirations for Nui's character. Let's go over the design process.

Design

When I designed Nui, my major inspiration was her beta design. In particular this one right here, created by Nona Nightingale.

Her more subdued and darker colors really fit well and I decided to base Nui's design off that beta design. Of course, I couldn't copy it 1 to 1 for obvious reasons, so I went on and tried to work on some different designs for Nui.

And believe me, she went through a lot of changes.

This was one of the first sketches for Nui's character. As you can see, she had a lot more stitches and had a much more disturbing overall appearance. I scrapped the design in the end, because it was just too terrifying and because I wanted Nui to look a bit friendly, if not a tad uncanny. So, I made another sketch.

This beta designs, does look a bit more similar to the final product. But again, I was not satisfied with the hair because I wanted to give her a bit more of a sophisticated look. So, I moved on to her first "official" design.

Here's another earlier design of Nui. You can see that unlike the final product, she lacks her green bow tie and her skin is much shorter. Not only that, but the stitches are less noticeable and her overall appearance is a lot less creepy than in the final product. So, I revised yet again.

This design for Nui looks very similar to the final product. As you can see, the stitches are a lot more pronounced and the crossed eyes are vertical and not horizontal, unlike the final version. I was initially happy with Nui's designs, but eventually I gave her a different design yet again.

In this comic that I drew based on the fic where she first appeared in "Welcome To your Paradise", I changed Nui's design a bit more, to reflect her final appearance. However the crosses are still vertical and her blazer is much more lighter, than in the final version.

Now then. This next one was a commission I bought from the lovely @waveglox back in May, I believe. They drew Nui extremely well with a good price and I recommend you, to check their account out. Because they are an incredible artist and a huge inspiration of mine.

Incredible, isn't it? I jsut love this comission so much and although her hair is a lot longer than in the final version, I am still very happy about it and think her design is absolutely awesome.

But of course, I changed it yet again.

This design looks extremely familiar and simmilar to the final product and the only thing that's different is the overall anatomy and the fact that she looks a lot thinner. But I wasn't satisfied with that design either, so....

This, is her present design

As you can see here, I made the blazer much much darker and I also made the stitches in her eyes horizontal, while giving her a bit of a paler color. And I decided to make the stitches on her neck reflect her current mood. Because, why not?

I am personally happy with the design, since it reflects everything I envisioned about her character. Creepy, yet polite and friendly. However the other versions of Nui's designs, were based on some earlier character concepts of hers. Which leads me to:

Personality and Mannerisms

Originally, Nui was conceived as a pure villainous character. One that would be similar to Junko Enoshima in some aspects, like a faux-affably evil persona and a general manipulative nature. However, as time went on, I decided to flesh her out more. Because I wanted her to be much more complex. Which is why, I added the following.

As I mentioned previously, Nui was inspired by The Beldam from Coraline. In order to differentiate her more from her, I made Nui extremely protective and caring towards children. She would never hurt them and actively hurts those, who harm and endanger children in any malicious way.

Another thing I added, was to make her a bit more dorky. For that, I decided to give her a pianist hobby. But unlike Kaede, Nui's piano skills range from atrocious to just abysmal. Not only that, but I also gave her an affinity for tea. Because Nui's overall appearance was supposed to give off the vibes of a British Lady, sophisticated and polite. To contrast with Junko's hammy and vulgar personality.

Also, when I fleshed her out a bit more, I also gave her a habit of her humming and singing. Something she is a bit better at than playing the piano, but not by much.

The last quirk I added, was that she likes to sew all kinds of stuff. Originally, her specialty was only supposed to be in crafting clothing for dolls, but then I made her more of a general sewing specialist, ranging from fixing clothing and making sweaters among other things.

Other Inspirations

Nui's character is partially based on the concept, of Liminal Spaces. By that I mean, is that she is supposed to give of a familiar and harmless, yet overall strange feeling.

Like...something is off. But you cannot put your finger on it. For this, I even made a Spotify playlist for her, which you can view here.

Lastly, I wanna stress that Nui is not 100% human. What is she really?

Closing Thoughts

Overall, to say that Nui developed this much over the entire year surprised me. But it does show, how characters can go through a variety of changes, before settling in on their final form. Whether Nui will go through other changes is unknown as of now, but I hope you will stick around.

You know what, since we’re receiving asks about ships, I decided to briefly talk about all of our current Blue Lock ships! I could’ve missed some of them, and ignored some others that I don’t have much to say about, but here are my thoughts for now. Oh, and to see a list of our top/bottom preferences you can check out this post!

Please keep in mind that for now we’ve seen two seasons of the anime, read some manga chapters here and there + 14 chapters of Episode Nagi (Katsu’s read more than that, but). So I am not aware of some developments the characters have in the future, plus haven’t met any manga-only characters for now. I’m mentioning it because I kind of ended up yapping about canon a lot… again. So yeah, what I wrote is obviously a mix of what actually happened in canon + my fujo rambling on top of it, but honestly it’s surprising just how much of the gay shit has actually happened in this title lol

Starting with this map I did with very shaky hands….

Reo/Nagi – what a gorgeous ship; they were actually the two characters whom we were assigned to draw for the event (which prompted us watching the show in the first place), but we weren’t even sure if we’d like them as a duo. We did end up absolutely loving them… but of course, with Reo as a top and Nagi as a bottom; why does this always happen?? But I digress; these two are so delightful, the more we learn about them, the more miserable I get lol Their story has a lot of “wow they went there” moments on its own, but now that we’re nibbing on their backstory a little bit (aka reading Episode Nagi) + stumbling upon some manga spoilers, woah, this ship really is a sandwich of all kinds of gay and all kinds of angst. I think I’ve dropped my sketching plans to draw these two instead at least 3 times already, just to boost our morale lol But drama aside!! They are also very funny together, and we have a huge soft spot for the “an obnoxiously rich guy becomes obsessed with a lazy unmotivated whiny guy” dynamic… I also genuinely feel like they are very good for each other, and both of them are insanely lonely, so now that they have each other they cling to each other very desperately, but in very different ways that ends up confusing them sometimes.

Isagi/Nagi – I am so shocked that this ship is so underrated, come on, bro straight up stole the guy from his boyfriend lol Nagi got so intrigued by Isagi, his feeling can be read as a straight-up infatuation at times. It’s absolutely delicious when paired up with the previously mentioned ship because the drama is really juicy; to be honest, this chunk of episodes is one of our favourites. This awkward aura because the great break-up’d just happened, and then another thing happened that caused these two to get stuck together, barely knowing each other, but still being kind of drawn towards each other. And I love the fact that even after this “stage” was over, it’s not like they became strangers again; they are very comfortable together and understand each other very deeply. I don’t know, they just have this vibe of a ship that could easily hook up and then just as easily go do their own thing/pursue other people. Anyways, whenever they call each other “tensai” and “striker” I bite my hand. I also really love the theme of Isagi being kind of surprised by the gap moe of Nagi-the-genius who is very used to being pampered by Reo and now has to rely on Isagi to help him with all kinds of stuff…

Isagi/Rin – I’ll start with a little anecdote: before we got to watch the Rin episodes and just knew him based on his merch appearances, at some point I said that he is wife-shaped, whatever that means. Katsu watched the Rin episodes before me and found it very funny that I’d call someone with such an awful attitude wife-shaped…… Anyways, I really appreciate the fact that Isagi also looked at Rin once and instantly decided that he was indeed wife-shaped 😭 and by that I mean that Isagi instantly wanted to beat Rin in soccer. If Blue Lock was a harem game, Rin would be the ultimate endgame that is almost impossible to achieve. It’s so fun to watch Isagi trying to approach Rin in different ways, trying to learn more about him, to force himself into his yoga routine, to figure out how to have a good chemistry with him while playing, and ultimately realising that Rin is actually quite childish and maybe a stricter approach would work well with him sometimes… but only sometimes. I also love it when two characters have a bond so obvious that pretty much everyone is aware of it. Ego, Barou, Bachira, Nagi – all of them kind of already concluded that the only one who can tame or at least cooperate with the insufferable genius that is Rin (and all 200 of the vengeful spirits slumbering inside him) is Isagi. The only thing I can say to that is good luck, Isagi. Get that bread.

Isagi/Chigiri – a gorgeous ship that we would absolutely pay more attention to if ReoNagi didn’t appear at the very end of a Chigiri-centric episode, instantly monopolising our minds 😭 I am so sorry, Chigiri… IsaChi’s dynamic has all the beats that we love: Chigiri was pretty much dead inside when they first met, but then wild Isagi appeared and expressed his interest, and then he got pushy, and then he got frustrated with Chigiri not wanting his help, and then he got upset that he made Chigiri upset, and then he got pushy again… it was very cute that he just couldn’t stop thinking about Chigiri’s potential lol And that he ended up being that aggressive push that helped Chigiri to get motivated again. They have that vibe of a ship where some things almost happened, but never did, and the crush still lingers in Chigiri’s heart. But he is a very self-sufficient, mature and frankly proud boy, so he tries to keep himself in check, even though every time they interact the feelings come back. Anyways! I also really love it when Isagi takes care of Chigiri’s injured leg. I want to think that he helps Chigiri with that every time they end up in the same room.

Shidou/Sae – oh my god these two found each other, of course we would love them. They are so perfect for each other and they are so ready to make it everyone else’s problem. Imagine seeing an aggressive beast that literally had to be tased and put into a straightjacket AND a muzzle and thinking ah yes, this is the man, I want this one’s ego. I love how Sae is surprisingly great at both keeping Shidou in check and enabling him, so this dangerous animal stays aggressive and chaotic (Sae loves him this way), but just doesn’t do anything that would cause too much trouble (for himself and Sae in particular of course, who cares about others). Sae is very forgiving when it comes to Shidou’s antics AND his unapologetic horniness, their dialogues during U-20 match are out of this world. They’re over there having conversations about how many times Shidou needs to score a goal for Sae to give him his phone number and for them to become roommates… and Sae doesn’t really seem to mind??? Whatever these two have, it’s fucking working, and once again, it’s a huge issue for everyone around them lol They are too powerful of a couple.

Shidou/Rin – HI ANON WHO ASKED ABOUT THEM! I LOVE THEM AS WELL!!! Or at least, I’m very intrigued by them for now. If Shidou’s chemistry with Sae is perfect, his chemistry with Rin is SO ABYSMAL IT’S GLORIOUS. Poor Rin can’t catch a break, he got hit by this man twice!.. But to be fair, he is also unreasonably mean to Shidou sometimes. I guess Rin is unreasonably mean to everyone to a degree, but there sure is tension between these two. They are Ego’s crackship, and as he was watching them murder each other, he had a “idk what I was thinking with this one” thought 😔👍 Anyways, it seems like I just keep repeating “wowza they hate each other”, but to us it’s a good thing. It’s a very spicy ship… I want to lock them in a room and see how they survive that.

Isagi/Niko – how could we ignore a ship that has a scene in which character A stares at character B while he’s on his knees, defeated and almost crying, and then character A thinks “woah that feels good”. Defeating Niko felt so good that Isagi’s post-nut clarity somehow just made him even hornier and made him reconsider his entire existence as a soccer player… And to Niko this was a very important moment as well, but for different reasons lol I feel like he also has a lingering crush, but he is also very conflicted about it. Also, Niko is a shy boy but also a bit of a dark horse (=a little freak inside), so I like to think about what kind of thoughts he has about what happened between him and Isagi back then. Also, he’s the only one of Isagi’s bottoms who is shorter than he is! Also also, see what I mean when I say that Isagi has a harem? He just invites himself into these boys’ lives, bruteforces his way in their minds, changes them and dips to get the next bitch while also continuing to live in the previous boys’ heads rent-free. No one is safe……

Zantetsu/Niko – damn that one additional time. A dark horse type nerdy boy and a beefy idiot, and surprisingly, they seem to be a very good symbiosis. There is just something so delightful in this combo of Zantetsu who isn’t smart but receptive to others’ advice as long as it makes him look cool + Niko who looks harmless but actually quite cunning and careful with the ways he interacts with others. Somehow it feels like it could lead to some very nice mutual “I’m using you for sex” situation, with both of them enjoying it more than they’ve expected. It’s like they have an unexpectedly good chemistry. I desperately want more of them.

Zantetsu/Nagi – not gonna lie I’m becoming more obsessed with these two as a ship each passing day. I love the little bonding moment they shared in Episode Nagi, and that that conversation made Zantetsu really respect and like Nagi. All it took was for Nagi to actually treat him like a human being and listen to his story… and call him cool, of course!! I love that Nagi also shared his feelings with Zantetsu, and I feel like this is the first time he explained his and Reo’s situation to anyone huh. Anyways, their bond is special, Zantetsu is an absolute chad for saying that he likes Nagi and would only listen to Reo, whom he hates, if Nagi, whom he likes, asks him to do it. In terms of actually shippy shipping, I can see them hooking up surprisingly easily, just because they felt like it. Is there a crush? Maybe from Zantetsu’s side. Would they enjoy having sex? Abso-fucking-lutely. And since Nagi’s team took in Zantetsu after losing Isagi to Rin, you better believe they fucked again the moment they reunited lol

Yukimiya/Nagi – their interaction during Additional Time segments are golden, Yukimiya is such a shady bitch, gossiping with Nagi about everyone, discussing which animals do everyone resemble, and then immediately going “you know let’s stop this conversation” like bitch, you started it! Twice! Anyways, their dynamic is also very fun, with Yukimiya being a gentlemanly nice guy (to his credit, he seems to be less shady than Trey Clover lol) and Nagi… just enjoying being around someone chill for a change? They’re like two introverts enjoying their weird little convos, but still keeping their distance. I also feel like Nagi feels that there is stuff that worries Yukimiya more than Yukimiya thinks. I also absolutely adore how Nagi calls him “Yukki”, it’s adorable.

Isagi/Jinpachi – are you really surprised? Isagi is such a teacher’s pet, it’s like Blue Lock was specifically designed to grow Isagi into an absolute beast lol We love to joke that whenever Jinpachi is ranting about something, Isagi is the only one who actually listens and understands everything, plus keeps thinking and reflecting on it afterwards. Ego Jinpachi out there creating the perfect top for himself, and Isagi is getting all the good grades, surviving and persevering. I also loved that Isagi got to actually yell at Jinpachi at least once lol He respects him deeply, he understands his ideas and develops rapidly, but he would still bite his ass when he’s all worked-up and angry. It’s difficult to explain this dynamic, but it makes so much sense in our heads lol

Isagi/Bachira – this ship punched us in our faces when we were watching Blue Lock for the first time, and I sketched them a couple of times thinking that I better do something fast before more characters come in and monopolise my attention. And it was a good call lol It’s a very good ship that is clearly written like a ship, and I still enjoy their dynamic, but after seeing more characters and seeing more of these two as well, I’d say that they aren’t a ship we’re super into. It’s almost like with Renga?? Like the story is good, but it’s not clicking as much as other ships, I guess. I still wanted to mention them though!

The First Blade: Balaraw - Winged Dagger

I realize I haven't been explicit about it on here yet (mostly because I'm not the best at keeping all my social media profiles up to date), but I am involved in the development of a Tabletop Roleplaying Game It's called Gubat Banwa- a TTRPG based around tactical grid combat, contemplative war drama, and high-flying martial arts, all of which taking place in an unapologetically Southeast Asian-inspired fantasy setting, developed by @makapatag with art direction by @villain-returns. Initially I developed the script that is used in the gamebook and diegetically in the setting- called Kasuratan- but I'll talk about that elsewhere.

With the Kickstarter launch imminent, I thought I'd do a bunch of Twitter X threads on a bunch of weapons I've drawn for the game counting down the final week before the launch. Then I thought: "Why aren't I posting these on tumblr also, at least I wouldn't lose my mind over character counts over here"- so here we are. These were supposed to be posted as Swordtember drawings, but then the KS launch got moved to October. Most of these blades are of Philippine make, since that is where my knowledge-base is and what I'm comfortable enough to share knowledge about. I thought it'd be nice to share a bit of blade knowledge from some of the cultures that inspired the setting. Without further ado, let us begin with the BALARAW.

Also known as a "winged dagger", it is characterized by its unique shape, consisting of a short leaf-shaped blade driven with the tang out into a hilt with two distinct protrusions, creating three prongs on the back with the tang included.

They may be held at the hilt like a regular knife, or they may be held in a manner not too dissimilar from how our neighbors in Southeast Asia hold keris. One may imagine it like a "push dagger" for lack of other reference points. It might be likened to the katar as well, in some sense.

(Sketches by the Gubat Banwa Art Director himself) Nowadays, the blade is frequently attributed to the People of the Upstream- the Mandaya group of peoples- though they would have seen much wider use in their day, likely also spanning across what is now the Visayas region of the Philippines.

Bathan) Something I've noticed from looking at Philippine blades all the time is that symmetrical, double-edged blades like these are rare, here. Blades that lend themselves more to stabbing than anything else aren't very prevalent either, and blades that do not- at first glance- appear to be made with tool use/foliage clearing/farmwork in mind don't make up the majority of specimens. The balaraw is unique in several different respects, and any self-respecting warrior Kadungganan of Gubat Banwa's Sword Isles would do well to mind its bite. The weapon makes an appearance in Gubat Banwa in the hands of the Beast Hunter- one of the many Disciplines ("character classes") whose techniques your character can learn in-game.
