Might be getting better at this? perhaps... [[ !!! Spoilers Ahead !!!]] Genli, is one of Kass & Amalia's daughters; I remember her from BoTW being the one who wasn't that fond of singing but was very enthusiastic about food. Specially the dish known as Salmon Meuniere - which becomes the key of a quest, in order to get the sisters reunited and sing at Warbler's Nest. Later on she finds appreciation for singing with the help of Link (which she roasts and says "You don't look strong as Teba...If you fight that bird monster, you'll probably lose!"- I found this hilarious) and the return of her father, Kass.

During the events of ToTK, similar to her sisters- she is given a role. Luckily for her, is one involved with food. Mostly focused on recollecting and making food for the villagers- in which Link helps acquiring the necessary ingredients. Out of all sisters, I feel she would travel for a bit to different regions- to learn new recipes and techniques when cooking. But will come back home and settled-down, opening her own kitchen to feed not only her own folks but travelers as well.

Underrated aspect of TOTK is the fact that they've changed how the Rito shoot.

Let us compare and contrast Revali and Teba from BOTW and AOC, with Tulin from TOTK:

I am A HUGE fan of this change for the following reasons:

Practicality: the Rito use their wings to, uh, fly. They're aerial archers. They need to be able to stay airborne and presumably the bullet time thing isn't a universal ability. Having them stop flapping, take out their bow, nock an arrow and draw and aim and letting it fly? Seems like a great way to break yourself on a cliff.

The arm strategy doesn't work for Tulin's character design regardless. He is just a lil lad! and it makes much more physical sense for him to draw back the bow with his feet, allowing him to keep flapping and stay aloft, especially when working in close quarters with Link, and even more while Link is on the ground. Also. using his hooked beak to draw back the bow string? Very clever, extra bonus points.

And finally, the most important thing of all: Feather fingers. What are they? Why do the Rito flight feathers alternate between looking like actual flight feathers and fingers. are they like bat fingers? There appear to be finger joints implying that there are bones throughout the Rito extremities. How do they work??? I'm so glad they're gone because it's a design element that just makes me go "eeughgghrelugheih" when I think about it for too long.

A Revali Fanfic Recommendation

I urge you all to put your life on hold for a moment and go read this brilliant fanfiction:

A hundred years after the fall of Hyrule to Calamity Ganon, and the hero Link has finally sealed the darkness and freed the Divine Beasts of their curse - and with it, their pilots are finally free. Revali thinks he should return to leading the new generation of Rito warriors. Teba thinks this actual child should never have been leading warriors or fighting a war in the first place. Tulin is just excited to have the infamous Rito Champion in his house.

Beautifully written and lovingly crafted, this baby can fit so much trauma and whump into the most gut-wrenching and heat-breakingly found family story you may ever read. 130,000 words, 36 chapters (and still regularly updating!), and a CRIMINALLY low number of kudos. If that doesn't sway you, here is some gushing under the cut <3

You think you've read a champions revival fic before? This will have you saying "how the FUCK have I not seen this before" and completely change the way you view everything (mild exaggeration. m i l d). We have all of your favourite revali tropes: being a dick and getting owned, being a dick and being right, getting own and never showing those feelings to the light of day, getting killed, getting unkilled and loved, showing emotions but being super weird and revali about it, bonding with tulin!!, bonding with teba and the rest of rito village, bonding with the champions, having panic attacks and trauma, vah medoh being the best ever, being a terrifying force of nature, being an idiot kid, and so much more!

Do you like grumpy dad teba? Do you like revali swallowing his pride? Do you like revali immediately spitting his pride back up and being a bitchy bird? Do you like mipha and revali as gossip buddies? Do you like the complete and utter fool revali makes of himself everytime he so much as hears the name link? Do you like people seeing right through his facade and calling him out on it?

AND NOT TO MENTION THE WORLD BUILDING??? this fic is so in depth of the political climates, racism, lore, changes in culture during times of war, colonisation, biology of the races and just fucking everything?? It adds so much life to the world of hyrule I am genuinely shocked at how much this person clearly loves these games (botw/totk/aoc) and they are able to incorporate all of this amazing information in a way that flows so naturally and just hhrnngngg I am fucking insane about it. THE SCIENCE, oh my god how did I forget all the wonderous thoughts surrounding the divine beasts and the sheikah tech, oh god and how they write the magic system? Guys I swear it's so good.

Characterisation is on point, everyone feels so full of life and that they are reacting exactly how you would expect them too, and they just seem so real, like they are right beside you as you're reading. The author does an IMMACULATE job of drawing you in and making you feel a part of the story, all the while being just beautifully written?

Don't get me started on the attention to rito culture. I have never seen someone pour so much love into something before, genuinely on of the greatest things I've seen. I've always had a fascination over how the races of hyrule view each other, similarities and differences, how their cultures and histories intertwine, and conflicts that may arise. But oh. my. god. My jaw was on the floor every time, it's so rich and beautiful but not without the horrors (and oh god, they are Horrors tm) and again it's just so real!!!

Be warned, however, that there is gore and viscera and terror and hurt and war crimes and death (duh), but for each terrible thing to happen it is repaid tenfold in love and kindness somewhere down the line. (Unless you are into hurt no comfort, then sorry buddy!) It is a beautiful narrative and the exploration of trauma and self is mind boggling and just go read it!!! 😭 😭 😭 I just love this fic so much, it has instantly sky-rocketed to one of my top 3 favourite fics I've ever read, and I'm so grateful to have found it and now be along for the ride that if I could bring that to one more person then by god I will fucking do it

So, Wild and you probably met during his first adventure.

For this one, y'all met at Rito Village (probably the second divine beast Wild tackles)

You and Wild probably became friends.

He probably has tried to race you via paragliding.

Anyway, you probably ended up in a new world because while I know Wild loves adventure, I can NOT imagine the chain loving the cold of the hebra region.

So, we'll say you and the chain have ended up in the world of Spirirt tracks before that Link was born

Lots of trains.

You end up running into the chain in castle town.

You draw a good amount of attention, the rito aren't anywhere in the main land.

(As spirit tracks is known to take place after wind water and phantom hour glass I assume that the rito stayed on Dragon Roost island)

Wind actually spots you first, and is particularly nostalgic after seeing Niko

He just wanders over to you happily

"Hi! Are you from nearby?" Wind would ask

You smile and explain that you are not.

He asks if you're from Dragon roost island, and you say no

Thankfully Wild spots you before Wind can ask too many questions, he comes over too

"(Y/n)?"

Of course Wild is thrilled to see ypu! He asks about how you've been.

Then he realizes that your here. In train hyrule.

What happened? He wants to know.

Are you hurt?

Wind is delighted to meet any of Wild's friends.

They probably drag the chain over to meet you, some are more curious than others.

Sky is amazed, he adores all birds but it seems weird to call you a bird like a crow.

Sky, Hyrule, and Four all ask about different parts of your culture and history

Four is thrilled to learn about any weapons you might like

Sky is thrilled to know about history and oddly enough the hammocks

Hyrule wants to hear about the hebra region flora and fauna

Warriors, Twilight, and Time are friendly but not really giving too much about themselves away.

Wars does ask about music.

Twilight just asks about how you met wild. And also probably what it's like in rito village

Time just listens, adding a comment or two

Legend dosen’t really know what to do. I don't remember if he would have encountered a rito befor

Either way, Legend is also mostly listening, but sometimes he'll ask for details on a story you tell.

I can't do a very detailed tutorial right now because I'm Not home and dont have my Tablet with me. But I will try anyway.

(In all honesty, I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing most of the time and I am not the best person to ask for a tutorial ah)

I struggled quite a Lot trying to figure Out how to Draw rito, the thing that I Had the Most problems with was the head. I usually just draw human characters who all Sort of follows the same formula.

First, I Draw a circle, then I add this face cross thingy to know where everything should be... And then I Just add everything else 👍

((this is Not supposed to be a Tutorial for drawing humans, I know that this wasnt helpful in the slightest. Im Just trying to Show the head shape.. process))

Alright! So for drawing a rito, you need to use a different shape as your base. (Well... You don't need to, its Just something that usually helps me)

Then you place the eyes, only one of them is fully visible.

Hello everyone! I wrote a little one shot for Tears of the Kingdom. A few authors notes before I publish below. I am a huge sucker for found family tropes. I love the bond Zelda has created with Rauru and Zelda as her parents. However, I feel like there wasn't much between Rauru and Zelda, so I wrote this one shot to capture their father daughter like relationship. Remember how Urbosa called Zelda little bird? Well, I thought it would be cute for Zelda to have a father like equivalent to this. I call this fanfic Sweet dove. A term of endearment Rauru calls Zelda. I hope you enjoy!

Sweet dove

Word count: 1444 Words

It's been 6 months since Zelda had been in the ancient past. A kingdom that is ancient even to the oldest living Zora of her time. This experience for Zelda has not been easy for her a first, but with the kindness and support from Rauru, Sonia and Mineru, she felt like she was not only welcomed with open arms but a part of their family.

The ancient trio had made an agreement to fulfill a role for Zelda. Sonia helping her with her time powers, Mineru helping her with research and Rauru helping her understand to role of royalty and to possibly help her with her light powers as well.

Today, she had spent time with King Rauru. He had a meeting with the Rito leader at the time and brought Zelda with him. She was in awe of what the ancient Rito Village had looked like and was fascinated to discuss how they could further their alliance to the Kingdom of Hyrule.

As Zelda and Rauru were heading back to the castle, they were discussing what they talked about with the Rito Leader and then eventually slipped into casual conversation

As they both got to the plateau, they walk by the area where Zelda has been training her Time power with Sonia. A calm area with apple trees with a few apples on the ground. She would even use some of those apples as part of her training.

"Ah, so this is where you and Sonia have been training and learning your time abilities. Now then Zelda, how has that been going for you?" Rauru asks.

Zelda looks up at Rauru and then smiles "It's been going well actually! I took Sonia's advice by drawing out the objects memory. It wasn't easy a first, but-"

Before Zelda could finish her sentence, she notices an apple falling right above her head. Rauru tells her to watch out but she then used recall on the apple immediately and it went back to its original position in the tree.

While Zelda stands there feeling accomplished, Rauru then looks to her and sings his praise. "With that, I can see you have improved my dear."

Zelda then smiles and giggles a little "I never thought I could learn so much about my time powers so quickly after Sonia gave me her advice!"

Rauru then chuckles "With this you're one step closer to your era! And if you please to do so, I could maybe help you with your light powers as well."

With this, Zelda's smile starts to fade slowly. Her smile turns into a face of distraught as she sighs. Her light power.....something she has great trauma with. Her father, King Rhoam had pushed her to the limits with this ability. A power that woke up too late in time of need.

Rauru then notices her demeanor change and asks "Zelda? Is everything alright?"

Zelda then sighs as she sits down under the tree of apples. "I apologize. It's just..... I've always had trouble with my light sealing power. I've had to use it ever since my mother died during the calamity Ganon. I remember my father pushing me to my limits with this. I let my love for study get in the way and because of this, it awakened too late. Causing everything and everyone I loved to perish and the kingdom to fall. And not to mention...I nearly let Link die because of this. I know my light power is useful but..." With this Zelda then places her head in her knees as she tried to not spiral out of control thinking about her past. "It's all too much with the burdens that came with this."

As Rauru stands there and listens to her struggles regarding her power of light, he then realizes how much this power had taken a toll on her well being. He immediately understands this.....because when he sees Zelda in this matter, he sees himself. He also was a lost young person with the same powers as her. His father was harsh on him. Badly. To the point of threatening his well being and loved ones. He remembers his great breaking point when he failed to save his people with his powers. Memories that once stained his mind with grief.

Understanding how she feels in this moment and to prevent her from spiraling out of uncontrollable anxiety, he sits down next to Zelda and puts his arm around her.

"Zelda, sweet dove, I understand how you feel. I truly do." He says to her in a gentle, fatherly tone.

Zelda then sits up and looks to Rauru. "You...do?"

"Yes, I do. I remember feeling so lost with this power around your age. I failed to save my people as well. But listen, your struggles with the power of light may not have had a pleasant beginning, but this does not define who you are now. Zelda, my sweet dove, I know you are doing such an amazing job so far by finding away home. But please, do not overwork yourself. Trust me when I say this. Sonia and I will never push you or force you to be anything you're not. The power of light is already within you and you have come a long way." He says with a smile on his face while slowly taking his arm off of her.

Zelda starts to feel better hearing these words and sighs in relief "I know I can be hard on myself. Besides, I have learned that my light powers will only awaken in great times of need. I have made peace with this. Even know my kingdom has fallen once, Link and I are doing all we can now to restore the kingdom to its former glory." She smiles as she thinks of Link by her side doing this.

Rauru the looks to Zelda with a tender smile "That's the spirit sweet dove." He says while nodding.

Zelda then looks to Rauru with such curiosity. "King Rauru, if you don't mind me asking, where did you get the name sweet dove from?"

"The name sweet dove you ask? Well...." He then looks at his bracelet with his secret stone of light on it. "It was a name my mother gave me long ago. She always said that I had an aura that was sweeter than honey. A ray of hope to shine within this world. And now, I pass it on to you. Zelda, dont ever forget your purpose. You were made for such greatness. With everything you're learning, I know you will do great things. You have become our pride and joy." He says as he pushes Zeldas hair back with his fingers. "Sonia and I are so proud of you....my sweet dove." He then gently pulls Zelda in for a hug.

Zelda immediately hugs Rauru back. She finds this moment to be heartwarming. She then realizes that these people are so much more than her descendents. She sees Rauru and Sonia....as her own parents. Unlike her own father, she feels a gentle presence with King Rauru. She loves this bond she has created with them both.

"Rauru....thank you." They both then stop hugging. Zelda notices something up in the trees. A golden apple! She then springs up to look. "Oh! Look up there! Is that....oh it's a golden apple! I've learned about this in my studies not too long ago. It's so lovely yet it is sucha rare find." She then tries to climb on top to reach it but struggles to. She sighs out of defeat. "It's too high up though. I really want to pick it for myself."

Now, Rauru could easily use ultrahand to grab it for her. However, he does not want to ruin this moment for his cherished descendent. So with this, he has an idea.

"Here, I'll help!" Rauru says as he lifts Zelda on his shoulder to help her pick the apple. As she was being lifted she felt a sense of thrill, knowing that he's encourahing her love for study this way. Zelda feeling immediately happy to see the apple in front of her, she grabs it.

As Rauru sets Zelda down, she turns to him with excitement. "Thank you so much Rauru! I cannot wait to show this to Mineru. A golden apple, what a discovery! I'll see you later, Rauru!"

1.) I literally love Grim and her entire premise, story, character, etc, etc. It's all super cool and I wish I thought of it first (/j)

A.) I want to sit her down on one of those therapy chairs and just.. pick apart her brain like I'm doing surgery

B.) For the romance plot: yes, but horrifically traumatized as she learns what it means to be human and actual emotion because The Voice ruined that for her (before inevitably turning back into a statue because, assumedly, The Voice is no longer with her). Because I love tragedy: no.

2.) I mean this positively, but The Voice really reminds me of the fucked up angel from The Mandela Catalogue or Rher and Per'kele from Fear and Hunger and I am a sucker for divine characters using fear/terror/other means for their own, twisted purposes

A.) I absolutely love Lolnye, but I really did not expect her AT ALL as Grim's love interest

I originally expected someone from within The Voice's cult because of similarities in circumstance, but I can just as easily rock with someone outside of it with a completely different filed of view

B.) I personally think Grim is around 26-27, so that in turn makes me think Lolnye is around 23-25? Based on her gifted kid status, it kind of makes me think Lolnye would be younger

4.) Since I haven't been in the room where it happens, I don't have a lot of theories or thoughts surrounding Grim, but I am really curious about where you're going with her character and what her views on different things the world both with and without The Voices shades on

1.) To preface, there are 4 goddesses in the venomverse, Nayru, Farore, Din, and Nabooru. Nabooru merged with a demon as a marriage (of flesh) and became Demise. Below them are deities; Hylia-- Zelda, Aram-- Fierce Deity/Link, and Ifetu-- S'avahili. There are more but they're the only ones worth mentioning.

Because of S'avahili's (then Ifetu, when she was originally cursed) connection to anything heat related (the sun goddess, Din, and flaming, burning, hatred incarnate itself, Demise, who formed the Gerudo Deserts and Death Mountain), Zelda (then Hylia) thought to curse her by making her perpetually cold.

Aside from making it near impossible for her to feel warmth (she can feel it, but doesn't do anything for her body temperature) it: flares up when in specific areas (anywhere near saltwater/the ocean or Rito Mountains) giving her chronic pains in her joints, the chills almost entirely freeze her vocal chords, gives her chronic fatigue from the pain and constant amounts of magical energy it takes to keep her from completely freezing over (which can possibly cause worsening degrees of frostbite if not in "safe areas," which can lead to amputation), and make her vulnerable to the Master Sword and light magic.

A.) Hylia originally cursed Ifetu because Nayru and Farore created her as a means to end (or repeatedly defeat) Demise.

(I swear this is all relevant.)

Long story short; Hylia's sleeper agent mind wakes up upon finding out Aram and Ifetu were in a situationship, Sleeper agent! Hylia takes it as Ifetu trying to further "corrupt" Aram and become a marriage of flesh like Demise, Hylia curses Ifetu, and throughout their non-deity reincarnations Zelda just never got rid of it because they both still "hate" each other.

Short story with more information; Hylia and Aram were created by Nayru and Farore while Ifetu and Ganondorf (I don't know his pre-reincarnation name yet 😁) were created by Din and Demise, all four at the height of the gods' war. Hylia and Ifetu were married for a few thousand years prior to the betrayal (Zelda still keeps and wears Ifetu/S'avahili's proposal gifts. The war had entered more of a Cold War state by the time they got together), Aram is officially introduced to Ifetu and they hit it off, Aram awkwardly courts Ifetu (unaware of their relationship, she was not aware he was trying to court her), then sleeper agent Hylia wakes up.

B.) When I first made S'avahili (2015), I had an obsession with making characters that had white hair and characters that were villains' little sisters.

Originally, she only had white hair because I gave Yasehiro (now Yusef) Gerudo-red hair as the prince of Hyrule (Zelda's older brother).

They were supposed to be inverses and then I realized I hated that concept but still wanted her (both of them but this ain't about him) to have a unique appearance that set her apart from other Gerudo.

All that to say: now the answer is yes, her difference in appearance is because of the curse.

In one of the act introductions, it says "The Gerudo had (..) hair made of the same sun she (Din) ruled over," so I figured if the rest of her race would represent the sun and fire in a positive/healthy light, S'avahili would represent the moon and ice in a negative one.

C.) It is possible for S'avahili to remove the curse, but it requires Link.

When S'avahili's presented itself as cuffs around her neck, elbows, and wrists (images below) rather than mainly invisible until prompted, Link needed to carefully cut them off of her in order for the curse to be removed in that lifetime.

Hylia's thoughts regarding the cuffs were "if you trust him so much, you'll have no issue with him putting the Master Sword so close to something so vital."

After deciding to retcon the cuffs, the way to remove the curse instead changed to S'avahili forgetting how to do so once reincarnated and being forced to have someone who does (Koume, Kotake, Ganondorf, and Yusef) to help her and Link do the correct "ritual" to remove it.

Now S'avahili, Link, and whoever remembers has to travel to a specific oasis deep within the deserts, do a prayer, basically drown themselves, and then wake up a few days later with the curse removed.

The only catch is that due to the deserts' two suns (one exclusive to that area), it makes it almost impossible for any race outside the Gerudo and Goron to enter.

They get around that by going at night.

After the curse is removed, it is possible for Link to traverse the deserts without harm (essential for going through the Sand Temple-- Ifetu and Aram's old, abandoned temple) and makes it possible for S'avahili to touch the Master Sword without harm.

The fatigue stays around until her death, unfortunately.

2.) Hylia still had enough common sense so as to not straight up ruin Ifetu's life when she cursed her, which is why she instead made it a progression/timeline.

The beginning is just fatigue, the early stages (upon leaving her "safe zones") are pains in her joints, the middle shows up as frostnip and superficial frostbite, and late stage is deep frostbite or amputation.

Ifetu learned how to avoid worsening the stages of the curse before she died and reborn, allowing the knowledge to be passed into S'avahili.

The only case that has led to amputation (so far) is in Wind Waker, but even that's in specific scenarios.

3.) S'avahili and Ganondorf only have animal traits (a rabbit and boar, respectively) because those were the traits they expressed/representative animals from when they were deities, but they are entirely Gerudo.

(Also because I like drawing characters with animal traits.)

Their ears, tails, (Ganondorf's) horns, and (occasionally) feet serve as a reminder to those outside of the Gerudo (and Goron) that they are Din and Demise's deity children reborn.

(Also because they like them.)

On a related note, their situation are similar to that of the Twili who took their wolfish features from Aram and just never evolved out of them.

A.) The only thing about S'avahili that doesn't change is the fact she's Gerudo, her white hair, and her rabbit features.

It's similar to how Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf reincarnate every life with different looks, but always have key features.

(She can turn into a rabbit though. That's fun.)

B.) Ifetu only died because her brother (deity ganondorf) had been killed, Demise had been sealed away, the other three goddesses had sealed themselves within their elements, she still had horrible feelings towards Hylia, Aram was basically dead, and the rest of the world was beginning to move into a new era which made her figure there really wasn't a use for her anymore.

Ifetu and Aram were only reborn as S'avahili and Link because Aram swore that they'd meet again, he'd never leave her, he'd always protect her, he'd always love her, and other devoted couple nonsense before she put him in his coma and sealed him in the mask.

Upon realizing he had essentially cursed her (because he had not, in fact, devote himself in most of those lifetimes) and because she had abandonment issues, she got the rest of her deity friends to take a vow of reincarnation so she wouldn't have to be alone while she waited to meet Aram again.

(They do not.)

So to answer the question, it's all Aram's fault and he couldn't even make it worthwhile.

(Ganondorf and S'avahili come as a packaged biological big brother-little sister deal because Din and Demise literally made them each others' support.)

Me after walking into a boss fight by accident at Rito Village and gaining Tulin: OH SHIT! We get companions in this game!? Wait he’s like 12..Oh! I get his avatar, I get it, it’s a different flavor of the champion abilities.

Also is it just me, or was it a little weird how that ancestor was acting? It just felt…off? And it really bothered me that his entire face was covered by that mask, I couldn’t even see his beak move as he talked.

Okay because I want to draw for this but am ✨struggling✨ to learn how to draw. you know. rito and zora and gorons and koroks. in MY artworks of them they shall all be humanOID, if not flat-out human, and the lore in this rant is going to accommodate for that. HOWEVER. If y’all can draw nonhumans and want to make art of this then BY ALL MEANS, draw the canon races! I’d love to see it!

Okay onto the actual lore.

Gerudo are Firebenders, Zora are Waterbenders, Gorons are Earthbenders, Rito are Airbenders, and Hylians can be any type of bender but are most often nonbenders. This is to keep balance because the Avatar is always a Hylian. Additionally, Sheikah are (or were, in the distant past) Bloodbenders, Yiga are Combustionbenders (which doesn’t make much sense if they’re simply corrupted sheikah i know i know but hush hush. this is MY au. i can do what i want.) Koroks are Plantbenders (which i know in atla canon were waterbenders but hush hush. this is MY au. i can do what i want.) and the Gerudo Chief (Firelady, if you will) is a Lightningbender.

As stated above, the Avatar is always a Hylian, but other than that the Avatar cycle follows pretty much the same rules as in ATLA canon. (yes, for the sake of this au i will let linkle be an avatar.) The Royal Family are nonbenders, HOWEVER, the Princesses of the Royal Family were and are the appointed keepers of the Sacred Spirit Realm, able to communicate with and channel the powers of the Great Spirit Hylia, as well as other spirits. (to balance out the hero/princess dynamic, i basically split the powers of the avatar into: 1) link gets to bend all the elements and communicate with spirits on a minor level, and 2) zelda gets to communicate with spirits on a major level and enter the avatar state)

Female Sheikah can and are encouraged to join the AU’s equivalent of the Kyoshi Warriors- The Warriors of the Eye, founded by OoT’s Impa. The leader of the Warriors of the Eye is chosen to be the bodyguard to the current Crown Princess.

Link was born to an Airbender father and a nonbending mother. However, for reasons I have yet to figure out (if you have any ideas let me know!) they had left the Air Countries and moved to the Southern Water Tribe. 

Speaking of which…

Because Link was not in the Air Countries but the Avatar Cycle foretold that the next Avatar would be an Airbender, it was widely assumed before Link proved himself that Revali was the Avatar due to his prodigious Airbending Skill (he was the first airbender to learn to fly without using his paraglider and solely by manipulating air). This is why he has such beef with our best boy. 

Zelda can’t access the Spirit Realm because her mother died and was unable to teach her how. This is canon. Literally in BotW. 

THE MASTER SWORD OH BOY DO I HAVE GOODIES FOR YOU

Okay okay so it’s a SPIRIT WEAPON. Ok? I made this up. 

IT CHANGES FORM DEPENDING ON THE BIOLOGICAL BENDING TYPE OF THE CURRENT AVATAR.

For example. When the Avatar is an Airbender, it is an Airbender Bo Staff (but it allows for the Avatar to hang his- or her, in the case of linkle- own paraglider cloth on it), because Airbenders are pacifistic and mostly fight using solely Airbending, with their staff as an extension of that. But when the Avatar is a Waterbender, it’s a Spear, because of the implications of Waterbending Culture and tradition. But if he’s an Earthbender, it’s a pair of Sai, because Earthbending involves a lot of strong, solid jabs and kicks that work extremely well with small dual-handed weapons. But when he’s a Firebender, it’s a Katana, because of ferocity of Firebending calls for a sword but the self-control needed to master Firebending calls for a weapon of elegance and precision. DO YOU SEE MY VISION.

The Divine Beasts are not, any longer, mechanical wonders. Instead, they are Spirits who dwell inside the ancient temples of each major bending nation. The Champions were chosen because they had unusually strong connections to the Sacred Realm, and were able to communicate and work with these Divine Beasts. 

Ganon is an ancient Spirit of Evil, and the Blight Ganons are the evil spirits under his command. During the Calamity, they killed the Champions and invaded the temples, imprisoning both the Champions’ souls and the Divine Beasts themselves. This imbalance caused horrible natural disasters that ebbed during the century that Link was in the Shrine of Resurrection but resurfaced once he awoke. The Water Tribes were plagued by devastating floods that even they couldn’t control, the Earth Kingdom was struck by a terrible heat wave that made the Gorons lethargic and the Koroks’ plants wither, the Air Countries suffered intense tornadoes that made Airbending- the center of their lives- dangerous and therefore unusable, and the Fire Nations were hit by disastrous thunder sandstorms, unnavigable and fatal to be caught in. 

The Guardians were under the command of an elite force of Metalbending Hylians, however, they were killed in the Calamity and the evil spirits who were their murderers possessed the vessels.

Well so much for updates while Art Fight was going, I guess this now a recap of the season.

So I though of making a post after my initial attack, but then I thought “no I should do work on my next one.” Three attacks later and here I’m am. I thought I could get a quick update in three weeks in just so I posted anything about Art Fight. I would do this by making a draft tumblr post and hoping I would feel the urge to complete it. Turns out I did not.

Let's get on with this recap of my first Art Fight season. I was on team Werewolves, had only 2 characters, and only 5 bookmarked characters. Unfortunately, I would not get any attacks over the month, but I can understand that. It's just 2 characters, and there's no way to search characters by creation date (other than the 8 newest characters on the front page). There's basically only a few friends that know my Art Fight stuff anyways.

Hopefully next year will be much easier to get an attack. I'll probably upload more of my characters to it in addition to the Florida Collection. Now let's get onto my attacks.

#1: Downy

Of course I would start off with a Rito. I wanted to find avians to draw, and I found this guy by @venonatt. You can see that it has a similar style to my 2 Art Fight OCs, though I varied outline thickness all around as how The Windwaker does it. and so will the next 3. I also added a more basic background with a nice, coloured in name. This was also probably the quickest drawing I made in the past while, taking just 4 days. I really like this character, especially how their hair came out. While I did take colours from the original drawings, this one took the most liberty with colour selection. The last thing I'll say about it is that the mouth was the most difficult part. It seems I cannot do open mouths or smiling for my life. The only reason their face doesn't look 200% weirder is because I put a white line to be their teeth. Otherwise it looks like they're looking at a burger.

#2: Finch

Here's my second, this is based on a character by @fimvie. It took quite longer. That was mainly due to Zeldathon, but this was a little tough to make, there were many redraws. I was initially going to have more outlines for the wings, but that looked too busy. I had to erase all the lines for the wings and redraw them. Beyond that, you can see it's mostly similar to the first attack, except the outlines don't have much varying width. I could've done an outline or not having shading or a background, but I just didn't feel like submitting the attacks that way.

#3: Rowan

So I'm not a person to draw a lot of fan stuff since I came back, but I do still like The Owl House, and this character by @coxinhadoce47-art got my attention. I kept to the same style as before, but I also did the eyes in an slightly TOH style. I was very surprised that this character used mainly purples and red. I'm not sure if any colour on the character is between orange and blue. I also really love the background I made for it. The sky and snow were amazing to make. I especially like adding the bright celestial objects which I added, even if they're small dots.

Also, at this moment, I realised that attack titles didn't need to be just the name of the OC. With that, I wanted to test how long they could be by creating a 2600-character long recipe for buffalo blue cheese hot dogs. Unfortunately only 256 characters can fit in there, so I couldn't put that in, but I didn't leave a character to waste.

#4: Tanniet

My last drawing of Art Fight, and my first friendly fire. This character is by @majoracats. While I thought it would be initially quick, fast enough to maybe do a fifth attack as an outline, I has to turn this in several hours before the event ended. I had to switch my schedule this week to ensure that. It's mainly because I had to redraw the shape of the body multiple times. Tanniet was way taller before, but I felt she needed to be shorter. I made her shorter, but that also involved changing other most other things to keep it proportional. Regardless, I'm proud of what I got to do.

This also has the most detailed background. There's plenty of stuff, textures, and shadows. Surprisingly, that wasn't what took most of the work.

Final Thoughts

Now that this is over, I'll be returning to regular art soon. The thing with Art Fight though is that it completely reset my plans for drawing. I have little idea as to what to make next now. Will I keep up the pace? Probably not, this required doing little in my free time other than drawing, and I want to do other things again. But it won't be long until the next piece.

As for next years, I think I learnt two things. First, after the next attack you submit, post it here with nothing but the credits, rather than writing a million words like me. Second, draw outlines faster. That seems to be the main slow down, I need to get outlines better quicker so I don't need to spend time doing revisions.

Beyond that, I would like to see if I'd be interested in just doing an outline drawing or just simpler drawings. The main reason I went all out on these four was because I liked doing the textures, shading, and text. It's been quite a while since I've done just outlines, but it would be a way to quickly learn them. Art Fight has also gotten me more interested in art events, I can use them to figure out how to draw more, and keep within a time limit.

Anyways, that was my first Art Fight season. I can't wait for the Art Fight postseason.

366 Days Of Zelda

So, I’m doing one of those “one drawing every day for a year” challenges, with the theme being Legend of Zelda! Sadly 2024 is a leap year so the name sounds less cool than “365 Days Of Zelda”, but oh well. Here are the rules I am creating for myself.

Unlike a lot of these challenges, I am going to allow myself to draw in advance - I’m a busy bee and if I want to post one piece of Zelda art per day, I know I’m gonna need some backup drawings for certain days

I’m going to create my prompts for each month in advance, rather than scraping my brain every day for something to draw. I like lists.

The main focus of this challenge will be drawing characters/enemies/creatures, but I can do whatever I want! I just prefer to draw and design characters over other things.

If this picks up traction somehow, I’m going to allow myself to take requests! Rules for that below.

The month of October will use the 2024 Linktober prompts.

About Requesting:

No NSFW or otherwise inappropriate stuff. 

I’m more likely to do loose prompts than specific ones. For example, “draw a canonical Rito” has a better chance of getting drawn than “draw Revali”, which has a better chance of getting drawn than “draw Revali and Mipha at a Weezer concert”. 

Once I start drawing I’ll make a masterlist and link it at the end of this post - if I’ve already drawn something, I’m less likely to draw it again.

Note that you won’t see much content for the following games, as I haven’t played these games at all, or haven’t finished them, and therefore am not really invested in them.

Summary: Link and Y/n are called to Rito Village when a dark beast has taken over Vah Medoh and Y/n’s biggest fear finally comes to light.

AN: I finally finished this part. May have gone a touch overboard with this one it’s like 2500 words. I just had a lot of fun writing the battle and the characters. Its got a lot of fighting and mayybe a teensy bit of angst. I rlly like Revali so I had to feature him. bit of gore so just a warning

Link stood atop Revali’s Landing, eyes closed as he enjoyed the cool breeze. There was so much to do before he could save Zelda, but after having to sneak through the Yiga hideout and his fight to free Vah Nabooris he relished this quiet moment. Even if it was only a few minutes under the light of the moon, he would take the time to think.

So many memories were coming back in a jumbled mess. Like pouring the pieces of a puzzle out of the box. But he hadn’t been given the full picture yet. So much of who he was was in those few precious moments he had with his friends, all he wanted was to have that back. At the very least he wished to remember those he had lost 100 years ago when calamity struck.

And yet, a part of him almost didn’t want to remember. The more he recalled his friends, the more he was reminded that because of his failures they had been lost. Trapped within their Divine Beasts with no escape for 100 years. Forced to watch as the very things they were supposed to use for protection wreaked havoc across their beloved homes. Maybe Revali had been right about him not being up to the task.

Revali.

The last time he had come to the Rito Village had been for a monster attack on Vah Medoh too hadn’t it.

“Impressive, I know.” 

Revali hovered softly before landing on the railing. A smirk stretched across his beak as he looked down at Link. Although this level of bravado was normal for the Rito warrior, Link suspected he was playing up his capabilities in response to their presence.

“Very few can achieve mastery of the sky.” So this was how the trip would be then. “Yet I have made an art of creating an updraft that allows me to soar. It’s considered to be quite the masterpiece of aerial techniques, even among the Rito”

At this point Link was discreetly looking for Y/n. They had said something about asking the village chief for the key to Medoh before running off and leaving him alone. He was sure that they had done this to avoid Revali’s complaints. Still, Link wished they would hurry and save him. Revali responded better when they were present. Or at least, he was more capable of tolerating Link with Y/n around to deflect conflicts.

“Now then,” Revali hopped down from his perch, drawing Link’s attention back to him, “my ability to explore the firmament is certainly of note, but let’s not- pardon me for being so blunt- let’s not forget that I am the most skilled archer of all the Rito. Yet despite these truths, it seems that I have been tapped to merely assist you. All because you happen to have that little darkness- sealing sword on your back.”

Link looked down with a clenched jaw. Hylia he wished Y/n would come save him. 

“There you are!” He felt a breath escape him at Y/n’s call. There was only so much of the Rito warrior’s ego one could put up with. 

Y/n skipped over to stand beside Link and gave the two Champions a grin, “I got Medoh’s key from the chief so if the two of you are ready, we should head up.”

Recali scoffed at the smaller Sheikah, waving his wing in a dismissive manner, “There’s no such need for the two of you to board Medoh. As a matter of fact your presence here is quite redundant, so why don’t you run along back to the princess like the good little hero’s you are.”

Link stepped forward to stop Revali from taking off but was stopped by Y/n placing a hand on his arm. “If you’re flying off to the archery range to get in more practice you can meet us back here. We’re fully prepared to wait until you feel ready.”

“Excuse me?”

“The chief told me you haven’t been able to enter Medoh for nearly a week due to this monster.”

“I assure you I can kill it on my own.”

Y/n sighed, reaching out to carefully lay a hand on Revali’s wing. “We only want to help. There’s no shame in working alongside your comrades. Besides, consider it a favour from us for your future help in defeating Ganon.”

“I suppose, I have no choice.” The Rito warrior hardly looked pleased with them forcing his hand, er, wing. The feathers on his neck were ruffled up as the trio looked tensely at the flying beast above. “I’m sure that even if I were to fly off at this moment, the two of you would still go on up to Vah Medoh and end up getting thrown over the sides.”

Y/n let out a nervous laugh at his snide remark and Link found himself wondering if the tightness in their voice was due to Revali being correct in his assumptions… or maybe something else.

Link and Y/n appeared on top of Vah Medoh in a swirl of blue light. They were swiftly met by Revali pushing them to stay hidden. He was quick to explain the winged beast, how it crawled across Medoh with sprawling legs. Y/n had mused about winged octopi only to be flicked on the head by Revali. 

As the trio emerged from their hiding spot the two Hylians found Revali had not given nearly enough detail on the horrific creature. It was as large as he had described, with muscled legs sprawling across the wings of the Divine Beast. Its body resembled a Lynel, thick arms ending in sharp claws. Possibly the most terrifying thing were the wings sprouting from its back. They were dark and feathered, each one dripping with malice that ran down its body before piling across the ground like muddy footprints. 

Link heard Y/n draw in a sharp breath as they crept along the edge in their approach. He reached out to place a hand between their shoulder blades, a simple motion they had developed in their journeys to signal they were with the other. Whether in physical danger or an uncomfortable situation, they would handle things together. He wasn’t sure how much comfort he could offer at this moment, but he’d make due with the promise to be by their side. Even if he was worried about the feeling of their shallow breaths against his hand.

After carefully making their way to the center terminal of the Divine Beast, Revali gave a quick signal before crouching to take off. As the wind picked up around the Rito, Y/n took in a breath before squeezing Link’s wrist and darting out from their hiding spot. 

“HEY SLIMEBALL!!”

Apparently that was extremely offensive to the beast because as soon as it located the small Sheikah it tore off after them. Y/n sprinted away sending a wink as they passed the terminal and Link. Y/n reached the first pillar and slid to a stop behind it right in time to take cover from the bomb arrows exploding against the creature's torso. Mangled wings came up to protect the beast from further blasts giving Link the opportunity to lunge forward and strike down its legs. He managed to slash through two of the muscular appendages before the creature let out a screech and spread its wings, and with them, an attack of razor sharp feathers. 

Y/n had come out from their spot behind the pillar, luckily just in time to slash a feather in half before it could hit Link. The duo exchanged grins before taking off to continue their plan. Y/n would lead the beast away with their faster speeds while Revali would circle above, waiting for the moment when the Sheikah would twist the monster around pillars where he could strike it with a volley of bomb arrows. Then while it wrapped itself in its wings for protection, Link would unleash a flurry rush, slashing away at its legs until they disappeared in a haze of dark smoke.

They pulled off their barrage of attacks until the final leg dissipated giving it one option. 

To fly.

Fortunately, they had planned for this, and Revali struck the creature before it could get far. It crashed to the ground with such a force, it shook the entire Divine Beast in the sky. Y/n let out a scream as they lost their balance, reaching out to grab the pillar they stood beside. He knew he had a goal to complete but, as he slashed away at the fallen creature, all Link could think about was how he wanted to rush to his friend's side. 

The creature seemed to sense Link’s hesitation because it began to spasm, forcing Link to jump back. It seized the moment and took off into the skies screeching as Revali circled too close.

“We must finish this quickly!” Revali dove closer to the two champions, being mindful of the writhing beast in the skies. “That thing is getting desperate, and I only have so many arrows left.”

Link gave him a terse nod as he rushed over to Y/n who was still pressed against the pillar. 

“Y/n.” Only a small hum escaped them, although there was a comfort in the way they leaned into his touch. “Y/n, I don't know what’s going on in your head right now, but we need you. Revali’s almost out of arrows and I don’t think I can take it down alone.”

Their hand curled around his, shaky but tight. “I’m okay.” He was sure neither of them believed the grin that pulled at their lips. “Its wings are the only thing it has left to attack with, right? Keep its attention and I’ll take them out.”

“Are you sure?”

“I have to be.”

He nodded, although his expression betrayed his concern, something Y/n took note of. They smiled softly, albeit weakly, and out their forehead against his. “Relax Hero, we can do this.”

Link sighed softly, pressing his head against theirs with a little more force. They pulled away sharing nervous grins before Link took off. 

Fortunately, the beast had been distracted by launching feathers at Revali, who had been swooping around it with practised expertise. Link gave a shout to signal he was ready for Revali to shoot down the monster and, with an audible scoff, the Rito notched his arrows.

With a thunderous crash the beast landed on Medoh once again and, fighting the urge to look back at Y/n, Link rushed forward with his sword drawn. Link slashed and chopped away at the creature's muscular arms, trying to force it to spread its wings. It took longer than he had hoped for with far too many close calls before wings spread, throwing sludge along with it. If it weren’t for the glint off Y/n’s twin blades, Link almost wouldn’t have seen the young Sheikah sprint past. Before the monster could register their presence, Y/n had hopped from its arm, up to the shoulder, and flipped over to land on its back. 

What came next was a flurry of silver blades and the tearing of malice dripping flesh. The monster attempted to rear back and reach Y/n with its arms but it was stopped by Revali and Link each attacking an arm, preventing it from being able to knock off their partner. 

With a final flourish, Y/n thrust both blades between the beast's wings. A harrowing shriek escaped the beast as it trembled from the blow. The malice surrounding it began to bubble and swell up. With a grunt, Y/n placed a foot against its back and tore their blades free. They looked up at Link with a grin but, just as they opened their mouth to shout, the monster exploded.

The moment Link uncovered his face, he was met with the sight of Y/n sliding off the edge of Vah Medoh. Link took off as fast as he could, watching as they scrambled for a grip along the edges but came up with nothing. Link hit the ground, sliding towards them with an outstretched hand. The two made eye contact and Link’s heart twisted at the terror within their ruby eyes. He felt their fingertips touch before Y/n was gone, their desperate cry as they slid over the edge carrying across the wind.

Link stared at his empty hand. He would have thrown himself over the edge after Y/n had he not seen the flash of blue following Revali as he shot after the Sheikah like an arrow from his bow.

The moments Link lay there waiting for Revali to return were spent forcing himself to breath while his lungs were crushed under the weight of guilt. He could still feel his fingertips brushing against Y/n’s. See the expression of fear that had torn the grin from their face as they cried out.

Wind swirled around Link, forcing him to sit up as Revali soared past him. The Rito landed on Medoh and, in a surprisingly tender moment, laid a wing upon the Sheikah warrior clinging to him like a koala.

Link was quick to approach the two, getting a glimpse of the way Y/n’s brow furrowed as they hid their face in Revali’s feathered chest. Noticing the way Link watched the two, Revali scoffed before grabbing at Y/n’s arms. “You’re not falling anymore, you can stop tugging at my feathers.”

Y/n mumbled an apology as they shakily detached themselves and stepped to the ground. They managed a wobbly grin that was interrupted by Link crashing into them. Y/n let out the faintest sob as they buried themselves deeper into his arms. Link tightened his grip, carefully pressing his nose into their hair. The two heroes held each other tightly, hoping to ground themselves in the other. To remind themselves that they were together still.

“Ahem.” The bubble popped around the two heroes as Revali looked on in barely hidden irritation. He tapped his talons against Medoh, sighing as the two looked at him with wide eyes. “As wonderful as it is that we are all, in fact, alive. I would appreciate it if you could use whatever it is you brought to seal away that creature.”

“Right.” Y/n stepped towards the terminal, Link’s hand still held tightly in their own. They pulled a seal from one of their pouches before mumbling a few phrases. Deep violet tendrils of malice swirled around, collecting in front of Y/n. The seal they held began to glow blue, spreading its own tendrils of light outwards. The lights seemed to dance through the air around them. Gathering together until they spiraled into the paper seal in Y/n’s hands.

“That should be it. Now can we please get off this bird?”

“I couldn’t agree more.”
