Medieval Mods/CC WIPS
I have a BUNCH of behind the scenes projects, some of which I´ve posted over on the medieval sims discord!
Medieval Ingredients and Recipe Overhaul ft. variable eggs!! So each time you collect an egg, it'll be a different texture. (Also using this technique on capsicums/bell peppers, so you can have red, green and yellow ones on the same plant!). The ale barrel is functional and can also be used as an ingredient.
2. Ghost Story Image and Prop Default - replaces the torch with a candle and changes the images to more medieval-style monsters
3. Functional Butter Churn - the animation has been slowed down since I took this video lol
4. Functional Medieval Lighting - including lanterns, torches, candelabras with multiple flames etc. AND default candle flame effect
5. Medieval CAS Room
6. UI and Loading Screen Edits - couldn't find my other screenshots :(
7. Thatch Roof Object
8. Horse and Cart - this is still in very early stages so no pictures yet, but I´m at least 75% confident I can get this to work lmao

Vidu and the Quest to Make More Toons
So, a ways back I talked about Minmax, but I've been trying out basically all the video generators looking for the tools I need, and low and behold this week I find out I've been accepted into the Vidu Artists program now, wherein I get credits and access to access their cooler features in in exchange for... talking about the tech and how I use it.
Well twist my arm. I shall endeavor to be objective and informative despite free stuff (a challenge my spirit needs practice withstanding if anyone else wishes to test me)
So let's talk Vidu.
(outside of being converted to gif, no animations in this post have been cut or edited)
Also, everyone say hi to Maureen the Lizard Queen, every hero needs an evil queen that really wants in his pteruges, and she's that for TyrannoMax.
Vidu's got a bit more oomph under the hood than MinMax (no shade to MinMax, they're brand new and very promising) and it's way too early to be picking winners when it comes to video.
Anyhow, basic features that are nice include the options to upload start and end frames, options for a 4 or 8 second duration (more about that later), and a cleanup/upscale. Credits line up more or less with seconds. 4 credits for a 4 second clip, 8 for an 8 second, and again at upscale. It's straightforward in a way a lot of services aren't.
Apetomic Pyle, done on the fast settings. (not to shabby still, and it gave him monkey legs which a lot of systems balk at)
If you're on the $30/mo tier, you can choose to do a double-cost "quality" over "speed" option. Thankfully, the artist program gets me access. Since there's not yet a seed option it's hard to do a direct comparison, but the quality is going to be a must if you're doing anything that looks like cel. Much cleaner, much smoother.
(4 and 8 second quality gens)
One of the nicest features is the character reference feature. Basically it's like Midjourney's --cref, but with a very strict adherence to character details.
The above images used reference shots of Maureen and Dr. Underfang, and it got the stripes on Underfang's tie right in basically every gen. That's a ridiculous level of character model adherence and, for my purposes, all but essential.
It did misinterpret Maureen's undertail coloration for a sort of fin or drape, but the shot I used was oddly cropped, and sometimes stuff like that happens with gen AI. Given my measuring stick for errors is the era of animation I'm emulating, whatever does slip through is only going to make it more authentic.
There is a limitation in that character-reference and text-only prompts default to 16:9 presently with no options to adjust, but some room to pan is always handy and most people are going to be outputting for phone and not outdated CRT televisions, so, it's understandable it'd be a lower priority feature for the devs.
Walk cycles! By Saint Eniac it's a miracle!
On the left we have one prompted with TyrannoMax's control art, and on the right we have one using that art as the starting frame (4 and 8 seconds, respectively).
Way More details under the fold.
Vidu likes a hefty prompt.
A lot of detail and evocative language helps, and older prompting tricks like mojo-jojoing important concepts are back. For the Max walk cycles above I used:
1986 vintage cel-shaded cartoon character walk cycle. The orange dinosaur-anthro wearing blue gladiator armor walks toward screen right, the camera tracks him, holding him in center-frame. He completes a full, brisk walk cycles from the side view. He walks boldly, back straight, head high, heroic. His tail sways behind him as he moves. The whole clip has the look and feel of vintage 1986 action adventure cel-animated cartoons. The animation quality is high, with flawless motion and anatomy. animated by Tokyo Movie Shinsha, studio Ghibli, don bluth. BluRay remaster. flat chroma-key green screen background
The potential for use with my Filmation-inspired technique is readily apparent. Both versions are on-model as much as any two shots in a 1980s action-figure shilling cartoon would be, some minor blurring to clean up in post but nothing serious. It should be pretty easy to extract the needed frames for looping and compositing.
Some Extra Points
There are the usual issues with hands, though more often than not it corrects my four-fingered anthros to having a human five-fingered hand. Buzby Spurlock animation was known for those kinds of inconsistencies, though. So an opening credits video is much less far off than it was at the last post.
It's also generally impressive how well it does with my dinosaur characters. Non-humanoid dinosaurs are difficult for most image generators, much less anthrosaurs in a vintage aesthetic. Vidu has yet to override the character art to give Underfang or Max the Jurassic Park style t-rex jaw, which is something both MJ and Dall-E 3 have trouble with.
Human characters like Kitty Concolor here, much more stable.
As always, clips are curated. I didn't choose my absolute best ones (gotta have something for the videos), and I'm working on a fun series of jank reels across all the generators.

Skibidi Toilet episode 78
Holy shit, Boom cooked! How was that fourteen minutes? It felt like three!
I did like getting the whole episode in one go instead of in parts. I hope Boom does it this way from now on (maybe with the odd non-canon silly short here and there to tide us over).
I expect a big part of why it took so long was from sorting out the lawsuit with Next Level! And... we've heard several times 'the episodes will take less time to make', and then that didn't happen. I think what happens is that Boom pushes himself to try something new, it takes ages for him to work it out, then he says 'okay, I know how to do that now, I can churn that out quickly!' And then, instead of only using the techniques he's already mastered, he pushes himself to try something else new, and the cycle repeats. Maybe it'll go faster if he keeps Deer from Ohio on permanently!
Naturally, spoilers abound.

Toilet-Cam 2.0! :D
Notice how the Skibidi is working on the cyan side and the Camera is working on the amber side (the colours of each other's factions)!
(I don't like the helmet, though. An asset made for a round-headed human looks stupid on a rectangular-headed creature.)
It'll be interesting to see what this thing does. The first Toilet-Cam was made to infiltrate the Skibs, but now that they're working on the same side (at least for now), what can it do with a toilet body that it couldn't do with an Alliance strider body?
Notice this geezer with a missile launcher. I hope we get to see him use it - he looks like a grizzled old grandpa-type character who'll probably say something badass.

I took this screengrab for the cute Soundkind (who is possibly echolocating! They're making cute woob sounds), but what is that on the bed in the background?
Looks like a naked melted guy. Is this a Half-Life asset?

Cutesy reference to Steak the YouTuber. :D (That's not me reaching - Boom did send Steak this scene as a leak and joked that it was a reference.)
...Where did that meat come from? I don't think we've seen normal animals in Skibidi Toilet ever! (The Skibidi kitty does not count as a 'normal' animal.)

The Cams get a transmission error and this one taps its head to perform percussive maintenance. That's adorable!

Not that it really matters either way, but who sent this? I'm guessing it's the TVs because of the purple. If it was the Secret Agent, we'd expect it to be green because he's done that to Cameras before.

Holy shit - I think this is the first on-screen human death that wasn't in a goofy fashion. (The humans who were killed near the church died just off-screen.) Piranha Judge Dredd bites this poor lady's head off!
I only noticed this because someone on Reddit pointed it out: you can see the lady's eyeball embedded in Piranha-guy's teeth.
Is this guy a young Astro like the Juggernaut puppy? Are all baby Astros fucking ugly and they turn more human-like as they grow older?
...Do Astros take on the physical appearance of whatever species they devour the most?

I'm not sure what's going on here. Duchess coughs/spits into her hand - what is she doing? She appears, has a munch on the dead lady and comments on how raw the meat is, then gets shot at by POV. What provokes her to spit into her hand right now?
I suppose it's too much to hope that the human lady ingested something that's poisonous to Astros and now it's affecting Duchess, bwoo ha ha.
There were unionized group of researchers in Eastern Europe. Their status is unknown. You need to rescue and deliver the survivors.
Who's this referring to? I assume it's a group of humans we haven't met yet. Could it be where the Secret Agent worked before he became the Administrator of Alpha Hills? And holy crap - we're about to get our first Skibidi POV episode!

A tiny interaction, but an informative one. Buzzsaw (now equipped with the portable POV camera) gives a thumbs-up to Tri-Cam, who doesn't return it (with a slight head-shake no). Buzz is happily going along with the truce for now (in fact, it was his squad-mate Rambo who initiated it!), but Tri-Cam isn't happy about it.
What a huge size difference between Tri-Cam and the two newer soldier Cams! I think the first techfolk built by humans were more or less human-sized because they were supposed to be able to work in the same spaces as us, but now that human civilisation has collapsed that's no longer important. The techfolk are free to design their shells to meet their needs.

Sabre's moobs are absolutely getting bigger over time, aren't they? Either that or he's bad at reading washing instructions and keeps shrinking his clothes.
I wonder if the scarf-wearing TV is inspired by any fan-made characters? Giving TVs scarves seems to be a popular design choice!
I saw someone on Reddit suggest these are the first three TVs we see. The first two normal TVs we 'officially' see go ;) and c: - and although Sabre doesn't officially appear until much later, there is a purple-screened TV visible in some background scenes as far back as episode 30-something. That could well be Sabre!
The TVs teleport away - now we know they haven't stopped using the teleportation network altogether.

Firstly: Polycephaly, my beloved! Swoon!
Secondly: "Hugs?" - has Boom seen Drakk's Buzzsaw x Polycephaly fics??! 👀
I reckon he's at least looked at fanfics in aggregate (or had someone compile the info for him) just to get an idea of what characters and pairings are most popular.
If I go on AO3 and have it show me Skibidi Toilet fics and exclude crossovers and fics under 1000 words (because those are more likely to be stupid joke fics), I get 271 results. That means that the currently 18 Buzz x Poly fics are a not insignificant chunk of them!

I laughed like a twat. When the figurines for Polycephaly and Buzzsaw come out, they need to be made so that Buzz's hand fits Poly's crotch.
You can't tell from the still image, but Polycephaly makes a very subtle jolt and Buzz very slightly caresses with his thumb. Yes, it's funny, but it's also so delightful how Boom puts so many tiny details into his animations.
...Missed opportunity for Buzz to say 'Now I know why they call you Polycephaly'.
God, I wish that were me.
(I wish Polycephaly didn't tuck his tie into his trousers; it's not a good look. My boy needs a cummerbund or something.)
But then!
Big lore drop incoming that made my brainworms squeal.

We travel through the void... and Polycephaly speaks forwards.
Do you possess even dimliest concept of what this place is?

Is it future? Or is it past?
Is this the moment G-Toilet crashed to Earth?
Maybe Titan TV said 'you can't kill the dead' because TVs perceive time in reverse. From their point of view, they start off dead. 👀
Presumably we're really seeing these scenes in the void - if they were just Buzzsaw's hallucinations, the portable camera wouldn't be able to pick those up.
What resides in the corners of this darkness and what happens when outside entity stays there for too long? One of us has the answer.
Ohhh my goodness, oh my goodness, this makes my tits erect. The Void as a spoopy domain is a concept I use in my fics, and I'm not the only one to think it. I reckon either Boom reads fanfic, or we fic-writers have very similar ideas to Boom on what TVs and the Void should do. Both of which are very gratifying!

Jeffrey wouldn't mind some company.
Banging my head on the wall. Eating my own hands. Biting pieces off the wall and eating my teeth. /positive
Jeffrey. My beloved.
Twisted abomination of a TV that resides in the corners of this darkness. Who stayed there too long. Oh my goodness. The lore. The implications.
(I even had a somewhat similar idea for an OC, but it was in RP only so Boom couldn't possibly have seen it. That means we really do have similar ideas about TVs. Oh wow.)
Can Jeffrey leave the void? Does he want to? Is it his prison, or his home? Was he a prototype for Polycephaly? The first TV to discover and attempt teleportation? So many juicy possibilities!
I wonder if Boom did that so he could see what fics would emerge as a result?
Also lmao at the mood whiplash from ball-grab to eldritch fuckery. (Was Buzz holding onto Poly's robot knackers during that whole monologue?)

Lord help me, I'm gonna fuckin' kill.
Oh, Buzz has two hands now? Guess the saw bit is detachable.
Buzz's swords slice off Astro heads with ease - hopefully the Skibs share these upgrades with the Alliance.
The sword bit on Polycephaly's back is actually a sword!

No prisoners, Bozo.
Buzz performs his second on-screen war crime. (Killing an enemy who's surrendered - the first one was killing a medic.)
Rest in shit.
Brilliant line. And one I'm surprised I've never heard before.

Oh, there's the saw. And yes, he does do with it just what it looks as though he's about to do.
(That is a weird sentence. English is weird.)
Probably a war crime, but the Geneva Convention likely doesn't protect alien invaders.
It's pretty funny the juxtaposition between how brutal the actual Skibidi Toilet canon is, compared to the funny little toys that you can buy in toy shops next to the Pokemon plushies and Five Fortnights at Poppy's or whatever kids like these days.

Wow, even in the post-apocalypse YouTube rebuilt their building after G-Toilet flattened it! :D
So who's the purple streak?

Him! The he! My beloved boy!
"You're screwed." [unscrews]
Genius bit of subtitling. :D
The Detainer claws are growing on me a bit. I still prefer those cuddly stems, though. Also Polycephaly needs his poly of cephalus.
Tiny bit of character building: Buzz says "Nice job, friend" and Poly replies "Watch yo back, dumbass." Polycephaly says 'watch your back' instead of 'shut the fuck up' or similar. (Well, I assume it's true to the subs; I haven't bothered playing it backwards to find out.)

Larry shows us he's not just a pretty face. (Is he called that because of the phrase 'happy as Larry'?)
...Wow! Can all the TVs detach and fly their heads now?

Bwoo ha ha! Yesmate!
Buzzsaw helpfully takes Larry's body with him. It's funny how it stays rigid instead of ragdolling. :D (Also, Larry has now touched Polycephaly's balls by proxy.)
Poor Buzzsaw gets left behind on the battlefield because he takes action to stop a cloaked Astro from hijacking Polycephaly's teleport. The text 'spy detected' was presumably rendered by the portable camera - is it relaying its HUD to Buzz's shades? Or is Buzz just very good at spotting things? He is a former human, after all, and we're very good at noticing patterns and deviations!
Larry's head is still in the field piloting the dead Astro, so presumably Larry's headless body will arrive back at base. I'd like to think that people put things in the neckhole and take silly selfies with it. Maybe incompetent workers get berated with 'Larry is more productive than you' (because he just sits there and doesn't break anything).
Maybe Larry eventually makes his way back to base and finds his body being used as a vase.
Larry (still piloting the Astro shell) doesn't seem to notice Buzz or be inclined to help him. Larry is now a Chekhov's Gun for sure. Is Larry on a mission to retrieve Titan TV's shoulder-screen that got left behind at the fight with Juggernaut? Something has to happen with that screen! Boom made a conscious decision to have it fall off intact instead of being obviously damaged beyond repair.

Luckily for Buzz, the Soundkind have been cooking!
Notice the silly guy jumping.

...I'm really baffled by how many people seem to think this was Titan Speakerman. The scale is clearly all wrong, there's no core, and the silhouette is too different for it to read as the same character.
At first I thought this was just a large speakerman and they're now all this tanked up, but it seems this is an elite unit! Boom said their name is Executor - I suspect Boom was going for 'Executioner' but English isn't his first language.
Boom also called Executor a 'semi-Titan'. Maybe we'll start seeing these giant elites in the other factions too? (Though Polycephaly arguably could count as the TVs' semi-Titan.)

Well, now we know why the episode took so long. It probably took 3 months just to render all these bloody particles!

She! The her! Oh my fucking goodness!
The shorts version of this scene had Everybody Wants to Rule the World, which was some welcome nostalgia but I prefer the soundtrack in the full version. It needs the gnarly synthwave.
The crosses are a certainly a choice of imagery. They're the wrong way around to be a reference to cross-guard lightsabres. (Are they an Evangelion reference? I've never seen that but I've heard it has lots of cruciform imagery because the makers thought it looked cool.)
There's an exciting moment of character development when Speaker Matriarch throws Buzz's sword back to him. It wasn't that long ago they were on opposite sides, and the Matriarch watched her comrade Dark Speakerman die at the hands of Buzz's comrade. And yet she's willing to fight alongside him for now.
If this is how juiced up the Executor and the Matriarch are, how fucking overpowered is the Titan going to be?
No more hiding.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is my favorite movie partially because it feels like it has two narratives, in a sense.
On one hand, you have the film’s plot, the story of Eddie needing to find Marvin Acme’s murderer. But on the other, there’s the meta aspect of it of “how did they pull this off?” The toons constantly interact with the real life actors and props, so you’re always asking yourself what technique the filmmakers used to get them to do it and how the animators covered it up. The best part is that it’s not perfect; there are some shots where you see stuff like the wires moving things around or the green screen used on Bob Hoskins isn’t quite convincing enough. That just adds an extra layer of enjoyment for me. Not only can you point these things out to your friends on rewatches, it also, at least in my opinion, makes the scenes where you can’t see behind the curtain that much more engaging. The movie is double layered in that regard.
There’s a lot of movies like this where the filmmaking and special effects are just as important/appreciated as the movies themselves, but what I think separates Roger Rabbit from something like Star Wars is the fact that, in most other movies, you’re supposed to see the animatronics and puppets and other fancy gizmos. That’s the whole point. Roger Rabbit is different because the animation covers all that stuff up, so it’s hard to pinpoint what effect is being done where.
I hate to sound like a wrinkly old man reminiscing about the good old days but I feel like this is truly a lost art in movies. Now we have CGI, and we know we have CGI, so that extra layer of “wow, how did they pull that off?” doesn’t feel as meaningful because we at least subconsciously know that the filmmakers probably just used a computer to render it. Not that that isn’t an art form in and of itself, but it takes away from how personal practical effects are. I’m glad that movies like Barbie and the FNAF movie are making a push for more practical effects and sets, but I have yet to see something within the last twenty years or so that really pushes the medium the way Roger Rabbit did.

@lynxden Okay, so, one of the big challenges with digital graphics is memory - if you want to be able to display a consistent image, you inevitably have to store some kind of representation of what you want displayed in memory somewhere, and as the quality and detail of what you want to display grows, so does the amount of memory required to represent it.
Take a fairly common screen resolution like, say, 1920x1080 pixels - how much memory does it take to represent that? Well, we have roughly about 2 million pixels... and since we likely want full RGB colour, we're likely using four bytes per pixel - one byte for each colour channel of red, green, and blue, and then one extra byte for padding since computers prefer to work with even byte counts... and that gives us roughly 8 megabytes. Now say we're running a game that has a framerate of 60 fps, and suddenly we need to rewrite that screen memory 60 times per second, meaning we need to be able to write roughly 480 megabytes per second to screen memory just to keep the display updated.
This was... not something that computers used to be able to do.
Now, sure, we can reduce the number of bytes we use per pixel, but that comes at a severe limit to how many colours we can represent: if we use only a single byte per pixel, then that gives us only 8 bits total. Say we divide those up like maybe 3/3/2, then that gives us only 8 shades of red and green, and only 4 shades of blue - sure we can mix them however we like, but it's not really going to be able to represent smooth colour gradients.
So what if we take another approach - we still just use a single byte per pixel, but instead of using that to represent an RGB colour... we use it with a look-up table containing 256 different RGB colour values - this means we still have access to the full RGB colour spectrum, albeit with the limitation that we can only display 256 different colours at the same time.
This is an 8-bit indexed palette - each pixel takes up a single byte, which is then used to reference an index in an array of 256 RGB colours. This is how colours were represented both in .gif images, as well as in old VGA graphics mode 13h (320x200 pixels, 256 colours) on DOS era PCs. The SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis used the same technique, though it was limited to only 64 simultaneous colours.
There are advantages to this beyond just needing less memory (and less CPU cycles copying said memory) - since each pixel value represents a palette index rather than a distinct colour, there's a type of animation you can do called Colour Cycling or Palette Animation where instead of changing the pixels themselves, you change the colour values in the palette array - meaning you can change what colour a particular index represents across the entire screen without having to actually modify a single pixel value.
To take an example from wikimedia:
There are other tricks you can do with this too - ever thought about how the Sonic the Hedgehog games for the Mega Drive/Genesis did water stages? The game basically keeps track of which horizontal scanline the console is currently sending the video output and when it reaches the point where the waterline is, it quickly swaps out the palette from the regular to the underwater one, making everything in the lower half of the screen have a different colour from the top half.
Nowadays this kind of approach to representing colour is largely considered obsolete, but it was a common approach for quite some time, since it could give you quite a range of colours without too much of a performance or memory cost - so long as you only ever needed so many at once. Of course, it also means your ability to do colour blending or light and shading can get pretty limited since you can't just mix pixel RGB values together, but there's still quite a bit you can do with it.
Of course, since I'm doing it on a modern PC running in 32-bit full colour, my implementation is basically a 256-index array of uint32_t containing RGB values and I just do a final pass of translating from the 8-bit framebuffer to the 32-bit framebuffer by using the 8-bit values as array indices before doing the final blit from the 32-bit framebuffer to the actual screen.
I used to poke around with this kind of graphics on the actual VGA mode 13h at some point however long ago, so for me it's a pretty nostalgic approach to doing graphics.

Okay so my beloved ChippyGaming has just posted a very interesting video..
youtube
Here's a list of all the 1.4.5 spoilers I can find in this video 😎 I will be covering ALL of them even if it's stuff we've seen before.
(you could just watch the video and see them for yourself but I just wanna make a list because this video is craaazy)
First of all at 0:40 you can see the lil' bugs in the grass! Kinda hard to get a good pic of them bc they're so tiny.
Here's some of them and it seems they can be lots of different colours.
It seems Red is using a new hairstyle? I'm not quite sure. Also I think Red's hair in the thumbnail of the video is slightly different to this one so at least 2 new hairstyles? Probably more tbh.
The player tethering thing is very interesting! Maybe if we ask nicely we could see it in the update... I really like how recall potions/magic mirrors are kinda broken and force the characters to meet at the midpoint between spawn and the other persons location. So they do work if you do it enough times. Idk I think thats cool and I hope if we do get this then they will keep this weird interaction. Then again it might get kinda annoying idk lol. Imagine using a teleportation potion....
Quick stack to nearby chests button has a green and yellow/orange? colouration and there are new stacking techniques? Presumably each different stacking technique will make the button go a different colour.
At 3:16 you can see a new crafting animation?!? The item also glows after being crafted. This could happen when the item is crafted for the first time. Not really sure cus Red says "it's in the works". The animation also changes colour based on the rarity of the item.
The crafting button that switches on the item selector thingy has a yellow highlight and theres a new quick stack button bellow this? Am I crazy or is this new as well?
Slighly different PvP and team buttons. First pic is new (1.4.5) second pic is current (1.4.4.9)
The Door Method will be the new meta in Terraria 1.4.5?!?!
At 4:17 you can see the first example of the new sunlight effects! (also pointed out at 18:13) The trees, clouds and grasses are glowing and you can also see subtle lens flare.
Also there is fps information at the bottom left of Chippy's screen. Idk if that's new but it seems suspicious. Could be because they are playing on a debug version of the game.
There has been arrows added to the item box of this wooden sword. Most likely to indicate that it is an autoswing weapon? Perhaps you will be able to enable autoswing for specific items as well as turning on the accessibility option.
Whenever they are underground there's dirt and stone dust particles falling from the ceiling?? Is this new? I Might be going crazy.
At the world seed part of the world creation menu it says "<Leave Blank For Random>" instead of just showing a random seed. This is probably because of the new secret seed selector.
New @runicpixels background?!?!?! I think I can see some different ones as well but I can't see it very well because they need height adjustment apparently. It could just be this one again though. Maybe a little bit of another one is visable in the thumbnail of the video as well.
Acorn Slingshot!! Uses acorns as ammo and plants trees where the acorns land. The video doesn't show Chippy actually getting it but all he was doing was chopping trees so you probably get it from shaking trees. Possibly when we get this item the acorns will roll or bounce to a viable tree planting location to prevent planting trees too close together.
New Cloud Slime!! It drops cloud blocks and has floaty physics! I think theres also new sprites for cloud blocks?
Cloud platform! They probably prevent fall damage just like their block counterpart.
Okay so at 10:32 a small tree grows but there is a platform right above it and normally that would prevent the tree from growing? right? New tree growing rules?? Maybe...
Guide is immune to zombies?? This could be a multiplayer bug...
At 11:55 the snail does not die when chippy shoots at it.. Immortal snail has been added??
New Dirt Slime!! It drops dirt blocks and hopefully it can also rarely drop the dirtiest block... We absolutely NEED that for the new skyblock seed.
New Dart Trap Slime? It's actually a Black Slime holding a dart trap which is supposed to be pretty rare. It can shoot arrows at you (which are probably poisonous just like regular dart traps) and it drops a dart trap.
Placeable critters! If you hold a critter in your hotbar and right click you can place down a small object along with the critter. The critter will always stay near this small object and cannot be damaged or killed (probably). Apparently when placed like this they stop being NPCs and become projectiles?? Perhaps we can do that projectlile limit exploit thing with these new placeable critters like we can already do with beach balls and flares?
New Granite Slime!! Can't really see it too well in the video because it is getting brutally murdered with fire. It drops granite blocks and seems to spawn anywhere in the cavern layer. The existence of a Granite Slime implies the existence of a Marble Slime....
New vanity item Goat's Tuft! Found in underground gold chests. I'm pretty sure this causes your character to make a goat bleating sound when they are damaged (as observed at 23:05 when Chippy takes damage from the eater of souls)
New 2x3 painting? Looks like just some guy. In the video they find it in a glowing mushroom cabin but it could just be found in underground cabins in general.
New Slush Slime!! It drops slush blocks and it looks very dangerous.. probably fires ice spikes at you and inflicts frostburn debuff.
HUGE NEWS!!!! MUD BALL IS IN THE CRAFTING MENU!!!!! MUD BALL NEEDS NO CRAFTING STATION TO BE CRAFTED!!!!
At 26:58 Red mentions the Mush Boy. Red is refering to the Mushroom Boi! from Dead Cells which is being added into Terraria along with other Dead Cells items and weapons like the Flint and the Killing Deck. Mush Boy is crafted with glowing mushrooms and is apparently an early game summoning weapon.
Okay! I think thats it? If i missed anything FORGIVE ME and let me know so I can add it! If you're reading this thanks for reading all that! (Still thanks if you skipped to the end though lol)
Love u <3

there are very few things sōshirō allows himself to do in life. for one is to let down his family honor more than he already has. while there are many feats to being the strongest close quarters soldier in the division, there is little else he can do when it comes to tackling on the bigger kaiju that have been upcropping lately. he fears that while there are no smaller number of yoju that appear, or even after beasts that live inside these giga-titans, remaining vice-captain of a quickly diminishing role would no sooner make himself redundant to the force.
just another reason for everyone to put him down, he muses to himself; mean while his thumb jerks quickly and tap buttons just as fast.
the second is to let loose, and while he is still young, laid back and loves to celebrate successful operations, he is a vice-captain and has a certain air to maintain. not to mention a very impressionable last name he carries. he has no such time to spend countless hours in front of a tv screen, playing video games and watching anime. his room in his family home has books on different sword techniques, fighting styles. pages and pages he's filed away in his mind and replays over and over. the only source of entertainment he had growing up was the imagination of one day being better than his brother and little else.
a leg bumping his own brings him out his deep thoughts, taking notice that they were both on their last stock. in no time did hoshina maneuver his character to block the incoming attack, combo the other character and blow them off the screen. it was satisfaction, a bit of awe, but he definitely rejoiced in seeing the other man's scowl as he lost to someone who's hardly touched a video game before. he chuckles waving the controller a little teasing him as its obvious narumi is skilled at the game. he just adores riling him up.
‘i'm hardly any different from my brother,’ sōshirō thinks to himself albeit bitterly, but easily turns his attention to the grumpy commander. “you're such a sore loser. so cute,” he muses, readying his character. naturally he picked the green clad swordsmen to go against whomever narumi decided he was good with. “unlike you, some of us take our job quite seriously, y'know? i dunno about staying up all night to play but...”
a small smile grows on his face, “two out of three, huh? so one more win and you will accompany me tomorrow. what about you, hm?”

My last animation for the semester. Also my first time doing direct voice acting for one of my characters so please be gentile as it was recorded at 2am while I was running on 5 hours sleep, caffeine, and deadline anxiety.
I used a lot of the different techniques we learned throughout the class on this one as well as a few of the things we covered last week such as tracing live footage for the blinds animation, green screening, and of course using phonyms to sync the mouth movements to speech.
This took more time than any of my other animations by far and it was a lot of fun to do, but I am definitely glad it's the last assignment as I'm ready for a break and to do some bigger projects on a more relaxed timeline

I think the reason longform animated shows made for kids but clearly created with an older audience in mind work so well is because the aren't taken seriously by the general public. Hear me out,
The comedic aspects work so well because they don't have to be serious, with either no humor, or overtly sexual and try-hard humor that just ends up cringey. (ie; thor love and thunder) I feel like most mainstream shows fall into either 'this is a serious piece of media, therefore any comedy has to be subtle or nonexistent, we aren't allowed to have fun' OR 'look at how funny this is, the plot is lacking and the jokes are stupid but you should watch it because we joke about death and sex'. The writers can throw in quips while still maintaining their dignity, and since it's 'made for kids' they can be a little silly now and then without taking away from the purpose of the story.
They usually don't follow the trend of short seasons that we are seeing more in more in mainstream shows, so the writers have time too flesh out characters and tell a whole cohesive story in the way stories should be told, because they aren't pressured to make something short and easily consumable by the masses so they might can get a second season. (which is the biggest problem in the Ahsoka finale in my opinion) It's made for kids, so as long as it appeals to that target audience they can pretty much do whatever they like and probably get another season.
Animation is an incredible medium for story telling, there is no sets, no stunt doubles, no cgi, so the creators can show some incredible world building and character design without stretching the budget in the way that the same world building would if it was attempted in live action. Not to say that animation isn't a costly and time consuming art, but for example, it's easier to animate a dragon in an animated show, than it is to cgi one with green screens and actors and the dragon having to be hyperrealistic. (The Dragon Prince would not be able to have the same whimsy as it does if it were live action, and Across the Spiderverse is literally impossible without the variety of different animation styles and techniques)
Because they are made for a younger audience, they usually carry the thematic elements of love and friendship, and family that isn't taken seriously by adult media, but are stories that are beautifully rich and enjoyable. That's why you typically see a lot of found family in these types of shows. (Which is why I adore Star Wars Rebels)
Their saving grace is that they aren't pushed by executives and marketing teams to make something that says and shows the right things to be easily consumed by the public and make a lot of money. So writers can tell stories that are genuine, which is why the work so well.
As much as I wish animation was taken more seriously, part of the reason shows like The Clone Wars, work so well are because they aren't taken seriously by anyone other than their fandom.

FLASHPOINT - DESTROYED
This is an album cover I was commissioned to do by a punk-artist and longtime friend of mine, Nick De Leon, for his independent music project and band, Flash Point. (Here's a link to their Spotify, and Instagram) Nick stated in our meetings about this that he wanted it to be black and white only with a heavy emphasis on line art/pen and ink, and have it be derivative of the DRI: Dirty Rotten LP / Violent Pacification cover art (pictured here)
Here's the breakdown of how I made this thing:
To start, I imported a posable Skeleton, combat knife, and M16 OBJ into blender for reference. My experience with drawing boney folk is limited, so I knew I'd need some help.

Then, I drew a sketch of this skeledude on paper, added some tattered army greens to him, then transferred it digitally. I went onto pexels.com and found an image I liked that had smoke, and added a screen tone effect to it! (This would help me shade the smoke later)

After that came line-art and shading. The client said he only wanted 2 colors on this album art, so I had to really flex my damn ol' noggin to get the textures right for the clothes, the bone, and most importantly the metal (which was the hardest, yet most rewarding part of this entire piece) I already tend to work in a pretty limited color palette, but I don't really do black and white, flat out stuff like this. Which means I really had to make it sing for it to work, and luckily I was able to! The band loved this image when I showed it to them, and were super pumped about it

Next came volume shading. I ended up using a technique I saw watching an animation documentary to help me distinguish the shading of the smoke, red being where the hatching will be the heaviest and green being a lightly hatched area. This ended up saving me a lot of time and multiple headaches
And yeah, that's it!
Overall I'd say this is one of my most favorite pieces I've ever done. The band uses it for their posters, flyers, their profile pictures, and so on and so forth. It was cool (and pretty meta) to see it on flyers in bars and restaurants around the city I live in. This project also helped me realize that working for myself as an independent artist is something I want to pursue. This was literally a case of me making art for someone else who also makes art. That is so cool in my opinion. Because of this commission, I was able to land art gigs with other artists and bands. I've been taking it slow since the end of 2023, but I'm excited to start making more new art, music, and things in the future.
Thank you for reading through my scatterbrained-ass post! I hope you enjoyed!

Sirens Voice
Today, I’m going to talk about a 20-minute film named Sirens Voice released in 2023, which is available on the website of the french and German channel Arte until next year. This animated film was directed by Gianluigi Toccafondo, a contemporary filmmaker who sets painting in motion.

It was produced by Miyu Productions, a company specializing in animated films and the origins of film are French and Italian and 5on Productions which also supports innovative creations. It was supported by the CNC, National cinema center and the animated image and the South region of France. It was created in a residence for artists supervised by Ciclic that allows an artistic and technical follow-up of projects in development with work sessions and workshops.
In the show Court Circuit from Arte, we can see the artist doing his experimental animation technique, using paint on glass, he also describes how he creates a constant movement through his art. He draws his inspiration from the photographs he prints, then paints and photographs them to edit these plastic works and turn them into films.
The film takes place in the depths of the sea, where primitive algae gently undulate to the rhythm of the currents. At the surface of the water, an extraordinary event occurs: the appearance of a voice. This underwater setting and minimalist plot create a mysterious, spellbinding atmosphere, typical of Toccafondo's style. This voice, which seems to appear from nowhere, intrigues and captivates viewers, inviting them to reflect on the underwater world and the mysteries it holds.
The opening sequence plunges us into the coral reefs with a fast-paced rhythm that turns these marine elements into abstract works of art, transforming them into blobs of green, blue and red paint. A jellyfish, a starfish and a shark appear on screen, seemingly as one. From all these sea creatures, another emerges: a mermaid. It is said that this mythological creature was created to punish Hera, the wife of Zeus. In the film, the mermaid appears ghostly, sometimes without facial features. At other times, she wears red lipstick and her eyes are sharp as knives. We also see her pregnant and with her daughters. Themes of motherhood, loneliness and abandonment are present, but also the state of being a woman. The threatening sharks can be a metaphor of the patriarchy. The film was written for the filmmaker's mother. The cycle of life and death as a whole, learning and the passage to adulthood, metamorphosis, whether on land or in the sea, are also part of the film's themes.
What makes this film so powerful is the lack of dialogue or commentary, which reinforces its immersive, poetic atmosphere. The voice and vocals by the artist Valeria Sturba play a very important role, as it is through them that the characters express their emotions, be they horrific or angelic. Instruments are also present throughout the film, such as the transverse flute, tenor saxophone and bass clarinet played by Beppe Scardino.
Presented at several renowned festivals, including the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Animafest Zagreb, Sirens Voice has been well received by critics for its unique aesthetic and innovative approach to animation. The combination of beautiful visuals and strong visual storytelling invites viewers into a deep, contemplative sensory experience.

That was quick lol & pretty good answers too :)
1: I forgot if you answer this already but for a animated series or movie, what type of style would you like for the duo? An anime style, modern cartoon, into the spider-verse style, a 3D type of animation similar to the battle of the supersons movie?
2: for the duo, which parent is the favorite? I can see both being mommas boys & liking Lois & starfire more
3: what’s the saddest movie they ever saw?
4: you probably answer this in a previous post but what type of angst did the boys experience? I can see Chris seeing a normal family & experience angst that why couldn’t Zod & his bio mom show the same type of love to him.
5: since they love to wrestle, is there a custom made wrestling ring at their base? It would be pretty cool & fun if they use like tables to slam each other through since they are super durable lol
6: speaking of wrestling, do you know the wrestler rikishi? If yes what’s their reaction to his signature move the stinkface where he rubs his butt all over your face while the opponent is laying on the bottom turnbuckle?
Thanks so much @gothicghost2000 I really appreciate your support and ideas for this silly little superhero fantasy writing experiment that’s been going on for about a year by now. You bring up valid and helpful points to what exactly these two are like together in a version of the DCU that as of now sadly, we can only dream off. It’s small scale admittedly
Now into the questions themselves ;-)
1. Easily a 2D animated show utilizing either traditional cel techniques or even the digital Toon Boom, done with an anime-esque design and aesthetic akin to Teen Titans Animated (2003 to 2006) and the classic Ben 10 (2005 to 2008). Will it be time consuming and relatively costly in the long run, I say maybe but I say it fits well with a TV show format as akin to its 3D cousin, 2D animation can look real pretty to look at and allow for a variety of tones, coloring for backgrounds along with other such techniques to set the mood for the characters, actions and other vibrant motions on screen. Plus I just like 2D over 3D in general anyways lol
2. For Chris, while it’s a very close call, Mom Lois still remains his favorite of the two if only by the thinnest of margins. Ironic, considering that like in canon, when he first appeared after landing in Earth, her uncertain behavior and her comments about what to do with him left him am impression that she didn’t like him. Thankfully, those feelings on Chris’ end were put to rest once she did take him in at first as a foster child and later fully adopted, showing she does love him.
Now for Jake, it’s really all too obvious and yes in the end of the day, you’d be correct my friend lol While Mar’i is a Daddy’s Girl, Jake is even by his own admission a Momma’s Boy. There’s irony here toon canonically as we seen in New Order, because of Kory making the reluctant choice to leave the Grayson household to reform the Titans as a resistance movement against Dick’s Crusaders, Jake by the time of the storyline had gotten rather cold to her, to the point of addressing her by her first name. Thankfully they all reconciled once superpowers were restored to the world thanks to Jake’s powers and Luthor’s scheme.
3. If they stick to their wheelhouse of films meant for their age range or at least something that doesn’t make Dick flip out, it’ll be Kubo and the Two Strings
As for films outside said wheelhouse and most likely the ones they sneak in….. it’ll be both Schindler’s List and The Green Mile. Either case, they’d remain relatively stunned into utter silence with haunted eyes before switching everything off. After a minute passes though….well remember that scene from Rick and Morty in the car after a harrowing time of their own? Picture that, just with Chris screaming “Fudge” instead but more or less generally the idea.
4. Chris mainly suffers from anxiety and C-PTSD as brought about due to Zod’s harsh treatment of him which while only for the first years of his life are nonetheless memorable for all the wrong reasons. He fears rejection from the Family he stays but more so being at fault for pain and misery he brings to others with his actions, that can result in said abandonment and rejection. He strives on being the best to protect others from suffering like how his Father Clark protect him from such, his heart crushed every time he fails to save someone close to him or otherwise.
Meanwhile, Jake aches in his heart for the losses his parents had to endure and the fear of his family and friends in turn suffering either an untimely end or a fate worse than that, and all Jake can do is watch helplessly to stop it. This drive to protect those he cares about and making sure they’re safe also extends to the citizens of the city he protects, the planet half of his heritage hails from and as of his time through middle school….Meredith, the crush of his life, though he’d just say the two of them are just good friends, Meredith similarly saying that. On top of that, he’s haunted by the sight of some street urchins and orphans, with grisly marks and slashes across their bodies, victims of Zsasz, victims he feels guilt y of failing to save no matter how much he knew about it beforehand or not.
Finally though, all these factors are wrapped up by the neat bow that is living up to the legacy of the Boy Wonder and what it stands for many. While his Uncle Tim(my) rightfully has the colors, Jake shares his vision to make sure whoever his partner, his friend, his ‘Batman’ ether it be his Father, his Best Friends or even Bruce himself on some occasions, don’t slip down into a dark bleak spiral that is their mindscapes, not if either Robin or in Jake’s case Skybird can help it.
After all, any crime fighter needs a partner, every ‘Batman’ needs a ‘Robin’, no matter what they think.
5. Oh Yes they will be a customized wrestling ring in the StarCave/Fortress of Fortitude as part of their training room. It has alternating black and blue ring ropes with solid dark purple turnbuckles, made of classic 15 x 15 ft long wood planks on top of a steel frame with a solid yet not too thick layer of foam covered by a cloth mat canvas, at the center of it being their logo. Jokingly, Chris once even suggested the idea of making Wrestling Championship belts for themselves and their friends though Jake notes that YJ already has some for their little wrestling ring back at their Mt Justice HQ. He might need to ask permission first if it’s okay with them to basically copy what they’re doing
6. Both Chris and Jake cringe and shield each other’s eyes almost every time Rikishi does a stink face. They get its charm and ability to whip up a crowd with excitement, it’s just nasty for them though.
