Well, I have officially been diagnosed with chronic auto-immune thyroiditis. My body is attacking my thyroid, and eventually it will win. I'm going to be dealing with it for the rest of my life, I have almost every symptom, and it is awesome. At the moment, there is nothing to be done about it, but I will likely have a biopsy of some nodules in about 6 months, and apparently I am close to needing hormone replacement until I drop dead.
The diagnosis explains so much, and honestly I'm relieved to know it, because at least it means there is a reason for all the bullshit, and also that it isn't my fault. My number one most brilliant and sensible feeling is intense medical guilt, so like, if something is wrong with me, it's obviously all my fault for being all wrong in some way. Well, this, apparently, isn't. There is nothing I could have done, and apparently, not much I can do now...that said, if there are any fellow bad-thyroid-havers out there reading this, and who can offer any suggestions, I am here for it.

Hek and I have done more in the last week than we have in the last year. We had way too much fun! Hek was showered with well-deserved compliments everywhere we went.
This is her watching me eat under the table at a very busy restaurant. Some may see it as a Bean begging to be shared with, but it's really her doing her job. I encourage her to watch me, especially when I'm eating, because a lot of her alerts/interruptions are visual. This meal was a fast food restaurant that I particularly struggled with. Hek ended up just laying her head on the bench so she could watch my hands continuously, and I could easily switch from harming myself to petting her.
Drug and health update below
Now that my parents are gone, I'm changing all the drug stuff. It's time to once again drop on my prednisone dose. The Fludrocortisone probably needs to be increased, but I can't do anything about that rn. I'm also changing the times I'm taking everything in hopes it will ease the tapering experience.
Current schedule:
12:00 - 5mg Pred
4:00 - 100mcg Levothyroxine
7:00 - 10mg Pred + 0.1mg Fludro
17:00 - 2.5mg Pred
22:00 - 2.5mg Pred
New schedule:
11:00 - 5mg Pred
5:00 - 100mcg Levo + 7.5mg Pred + 0.1mg Fludro
17:00 - 2.5mg Pred
Straight up, I'm not excited to transition from the immuno suppressive level to the adrenal support level. Pain and energy levels are meh at best. My joints are already becoming problematic again, especially my fingers and toes. I'm struggling with sleeping in every way, which baffles my endo, but idk what to tell her. Mostly, it's the salt cravings that have skyrocketed in the last two months that are driving me crazy. The weight problem is just something I'm learning to live with at this point. It's all water retention and gaining the weight I couldn't keep on before the cortisol.

Today is a bad energy day. I’m so tired. I’m feeling it on a molecular level and no amount of tea is going to help.

Has anyone else here been dx with hashimotos as a young child? I was 7 when we found out, and as far as I can remember I've been taking pills and getting a minimum of 1 lab test per year
According to the internet, most ppl are 30+ women when they get dx
My mom says that my migraines were getting really bad and that I was extremely lethargic and had lost my appetite, and bc my mom had a thyroid disease they started testing me
ETA: my mom has corrected me, I was dx at 6 yrs old

LIFE UPDATE!
Tumblr media
The good news: I got to my chiropractor, and we figured out what’s wrong and made a game plan to deal with it!
The neutral news: The problem wasn’t caused by my bad posture while drawing things—it actually involved problems in my diet and an unhappy immune system and other things you probably don’t want to hear about—but said bad posture probably didn’t help, so I’d do well to avoid it if I can.
The bad news: I don’t know how long it’s gonna take to get my mojo back. Drawings may be lower quality and/or more sporadic as I continue to protect my shoulders and allow that inflammation to go down. You can expect a lot of “preview of the thing I’m drawing” posts, LOL
Overall thoughts: Honestly, I’m in high spirits! I would much rather know what’s going on and have a game plan to deal with it than fumble around aimlessly in the dark. Thank you all for being patient with me—and for all the prayers and the sweet messages I’ve received!—and I hope to have more doodles to show you all in the near future!
Then having made up his mind, he acted swiftly…

I know the sun is only on one side of my face, but when I put the black-and-white filter on, it looks like I have a blackeye. Is that seriously how tired I look all the time? Wow….

there’s so much i wanna do this week/month/etc but i’m just too sick, i have no energy, i can’t sleep, i’m constantly nauseous and headachey and on the verge of a migraine, i’m stressed and irritable and impatient and panicky…….how tf did i survive nearly 5 years of high school untreated if i can’t even manage this when i don’t have any major obligations rn
#at least i finally got my meds so hopefully i feel a little better soon#although i’m now on 20 pills per day which is Just Great#whenever i’m in remission it’s nice to just. forget sometimes that this can happen at any time#kinda wish i had the typical kinda chronic illness that people talk about with ‘flares’#or at least triggers that i can plan around#the other times have all had an easily identifiable stressor tho tbf. idk what caused this one#the first time was whooping cough and the next few were all very major life stressors like my cat dying right after i started uni#and i think also towards the end of my honours thesis?#but this…….there’s no major stress right now. nothing wildly beyond normal#i’m a little concerned about my joints tho. they’ve been so much worse than normal the last few months#so i’m kinda worried i’m developing rheumatoid arthritis (also an autoimmune disease and it runs in the family specifically)#so if that’s happening then it could set my thyroid off? probably should get to the doctor at some point#obv i’m seeing my endo for thyroid stuff. but i should see my gp and get her to run all the autoimmune blood tests again#i’ve done that before but it’s been a few years and my ankles and knees are so painful i can’t even walk properly a lot of the time#BUT I JUST WANNA DO THINGS I ENJOY AND I CANT AND I WILL CONTINUE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IT#‘oh you’re so lucky you don’t have as many obligations because you’re chronically ill’ ha ha ha please swap lives with me immediately#personal#but seriously. i wasn’t diagnosed until i was nearly 17 and we can trace it back to whooping cough when i was 12#so it was the last half of year 6 and then all of years 7-10 and the start of year 11 of just being. uh. ‘very lazy and complaining a lot’#and TEACHERS joking about me and my sister (who was dealing with an arguably more severe undiagnosed disease) missing so many classes#wow so funny pdhpe teacher who’s supposed to be teaching is about health#and the thing with being a mentally ill teenager is that hyperthyroidism can just look like a very severe anxiety disorder#so i didn’t go to the dr until i was too sick to go to school at all. and luckily had a good dr who did a blood test#i’m just rambling now because i can’t sleep and i don’t wanna lie here doing nothing#might go play pvz or something. that’s been keeping me entertained
