#BUT he's also interested in magic in general so i'm guessing it still Would be interesting to him to a degree

i think it’s kind of interesting with the hexside tracks convo. i actually think construction magic is the only coven-specific type of magic we’ve ever seen hunter do? with that big earth fist he whacked amity with in eclipse lake. i don’t know if that would be an argument for or against him taking it as a class, but i feel like everything else we’ve ever seen him do is like,, not tied to a coven besides that one spell
(this is related to this old post but i put the answer in my drafts and the option of posting it vanished from my memory lmao)
tbh that IS true, i forgor it can be technically considered construction magic kxjsjks
i feel like there are so many spells and different "sub magic types" and magic courses that are kinda unclear which track they'd be taught at or where they fall under, especially since there are some tracks/magic types that we've only seen used in a very general way; like construction or oracle. we've seen manyyyy possibilities for some tracks, like abomination (like what darius vs alador vs amity can do, how differently it can be used) or bard (how at first glance it just feels like a "yeah we use instruments to fight and do spells" but then we also find out how much you can truly do with it and how much actually falls under bard magic through raine) or illusions (everything that gus, and graye, have been shown to do) etc. but some tracks/covens we have really just been kinda... shown from a very surface level lol
hell, i still wonder why anyone would ever choose a potion coven in a world during belos' reign, where you have to choose to only have one magic type, because... from all we've seen it seems like in order to make potions you don't really need any magic (having magic can help but it's not necessarily needed) so what magic DO you get??? you have to get something (maybe magic that can assist you in making potions?) but we have no clear idea what. also considering how oftentimes potion-making is also tied in with other magic types (like plants or healing or beast-keeping) it almost feels like it should be a sub-type of each magic or an addition rather than its own thing. BUT KXJSHSK YEAH like, we don't know! i wish it was more clearly fleshed out in the show.
there's also the fact that now that belos is gone, the society is able to take back their culture and history and practices that were lost to time and as we can see in the epilogue they're actively working on making the boiling isles less... belos-influenced. they're working on that process of decolonization and it's going to be a long LOOONG while until traces of belos' impact completely disappear, but there are already clear changes. the sky is clear again (just like it was in the "savage ages" - a contrast to the pollution we see in the emperor's coven era), palismen are being carved again and palistroms are coming back from being endangered, selkidomus is doing good, the once a police precinct in latissa is now a hospital and the hostile architecture around it (the spikes) is gone, there's now a way to remove sigils and everyone is free to pursue whatever they want. the society is healing. etc.
and covens, magic being split into these clear subtypes- was not ever really something natural. like yeah, there ARE magic types that seem very clearly "thematic" like you can very clearly separate bard magic from plant magic, and a witch can be naturally skilled in a particular thing (like willow or gus) but there are also some spells that overlap and some that seemingly don't fit into any covens at all. belos made up covens in order to limit witches' bodily autonomy and control their abilities, in order to seem more powerful and to create this structure of power. so i imagine that if you are in a coven, in any coven, there are spells that don't quite fit any of them, or some that fit all.
i. ngl i completely derailed the ask and forgot where i was going with this LMAO but yeah

MC is a What!? (HC)
Fandom: Obey Me
Pairing: DB with gn!Reader
Warning: None
Requested by: @smut-simp
Prompt: Guess What? I'm back. Ok, so i love mythical creatures (and you). But i wanted to ask for MC who is like a secret god/goddess. Lemme give you a description. MC had a terrible, no-good, very bad day. And they were in their room crying, so now they have a headache and its even worse bc the horns are hidden and straining against their head. so MC lets them out along with the wings bc their back hurts from being curled up for so many hours in a corner.) NOTE: Sorry if this is a long ask, i'm just so freaking eager. *Cries in simp* Also, i have like 3 more suggestions that i'm still thinking about, soooooo yeah I Love You SM <3 Hope You Have The Best Day Ever! :)
A/N: Soooo this was supposed to be a quick ask, and it turned into an HC. 😋 Awww thank you! 💖 I love mythical creatures too! I added the description you gave for the god/goddess appearance in the prologue. :3 Thank you! I hope you have a great day and HNY! I hope 2024 is the BESTEST year ever for you. 🤗
———————————————
Prologue:
This was your worst day in Devildom, and your breakdown was taking a toll on your mental health as well as your physical form. Not the form you showed others, but your true form - that of a god/goddess. You never told anyone this secret as you feared being seen as a fish out of water in Devildom.
When others looked at you, they saw a 'normal' human, but what exactly did you see when you looked at yourself in the mirror? Four large white wings with golden outlines; slightly glowing eyes the color of gold; two golden horns that curved from just above your ears and stood six inches above your head; a shiny white and gold striped halo balancing atop the horns; a third eye on your forehead with massive, long eyelashes that was white and glowed; a huge deep gold tattoo on your stomach in the shape of a person sitting crisscrossed, using magic, and the three realms.
You were able to hide all of this from the others, but the bad day had drawn tears to your eyes. In turn, you had a headache, which kept getting worse due to the strain of the horns on your head. However, the amount of magic it was taking you to hide your form took the highest toll on you. For a while, you stared at your tears that were made of gold (literally). Was it worth it to continue tormenting yourself to hide your true form? Shaking your head, you shattered the magic around you, and instantly, your deity form was on display.
Unfortunately for you, he had learned you were having a bad day and entered your room. He generally knocked, but today, he assumed you would tell him to leave you alone.
----
Tumblr media
Lucifer froze. The amount of divine energy flowing from you made it difficult for him to breathe.
A while back, he had suspected that you were hiding something from them but wasn't expecting you to be a god/goddess. Regardless, Lucifer remained unfazed by your appearance and was more concerned with your sadness.
He forced himself to come closer to you, even though his body told him not to. Wordlessly, the first brother sat on the edge of your bed and gently stroked your head, avoiding touching your horns.
"It hurts. My horns hurt!"
Lucifer knew from personal experience how annoying horns could be and how heavy wings could feel at times. The Avatar of Pride didn't ask you questions, nor was in interested in learning anything about you at that moment. His energy was forced on trying to calm you down and provide you with a soothing touch.
However, one question nagged Lucifer's mind: why was a deity in Devildom? If Lucifer didn't trust you, he would have thought you were there on a mission to study the demons as the heavens were planning a war against Devildom.
Tumblr media
His jaw dropped. Where was (y/n), and who was this creature? Why was there such a strong divine aura flowing from it? Wait, was that creature you? You were a god/goddess?
Mammon's head spun, but hearing your anguished sobs tore at his heart. He wanted to bombard you with questions but knew this was not the right time.
It took him a little struggle to get closer to you as your divinity was too dizzying for him. However, Mammon wanted nothing more than to help you calm down.
When he saw your gold tears, the Avatar of Greed's eyes widened. He had a moment of weakness where he considered taking your tears and selling them to make A LOT of dough but had to remind himself that this was neither the place nor the time to think about money. That didn't mean he wasn't planning to take your 'tears' afterward with your permission, of course.
Mammon sat by your side and held onto your hand as he gently patted your shoulders. His eyes wandered around to take in your majestic form.
Maybe you had your reasons to hide the truth from them. However, he hoped you would tell him the truth once you calmed down.
Tumblr media
Eh? EHHHH? You were a god/goddess all along? Why didn't you tell them? He thought you were a normie human all along. If he knew you were a deity that looked like they were straight out of an anime, Levi wouldn't have given you such a hard time.
He was lost in thoughts until he heard your whimpers. His shoulders slumped. Though, he was a little uncomfortable as he didn't know how to make you feel better. Regardless, Levi still pushed past the invisible barrier around you that attempted to push him away.
Levi hesitated to touch you because he didn't know if your light would have a negative effect on him. After a while of thinking, he sighed and gently stroked your cheeks. That was when he saw your gold tears. Talk about your tears being priceless.
Since he didn't know what to say, Levi stayed silent, gently stroking your cheek, head, and arm and even taking a chance at caressing your wings. They were even softer than Lucifer's wings in the Celestial Realm.
Unlike some of his brothers, Levi didn't consider you would be there to spy on them or have any ill-intention toward them. You were still (y/n) to him - a friend, crush, and sweet normie, not a force of divinity.
Tumblr media
Satan wondered if he was in the presence of a god/goddess and took a moment to analyze your aura. Once he confirmed, the Avatar of Wrath felt breathless. He knew being around your divine form for a prolonged period would have a negative effect on him. However, he couldn't bring himself to walk away and leave you in tears.
The Avatar of Wrath took a deep breath and forced himself to get closer to you. His eyes scanned each and every detail on your body, but he was most fascinated with the tattoos of the three realms. Why would a deity have a tattoo of all three realms? Did you have a special power, or were you an overseer of all three realms? Someone who transgressed ordinary gods/goddesses.
He had to force himself to swallow his curiosity as your well-being and happiness came before. So, Satan made a mental note of all his questions and sat down beside you. His touch was gentle but still hesitant.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Those were the only words he said. If you chose to tell him, Satan paid close attention to your words; if you chose to remain silent, he didn't force you to say anything.
Once you were in a better state of mind, Satan planned to get answers to his questions and hoped you would tell him the entire truth.
Tumblr media
As someone who admired beauty above all, Asmo was speechless. He never thought he would see a being more beautiful than him, but you proved him wrong.
Asmo was so enamored by your appearance that, for a while, he zoned out and didn't hear your sobs or see your tears. His only focus was on taking in every inch of your beautiful appearance. He only snapped out when you let out a small cry of pain.
At first, he didn't want to come closer, knowing his dark aura would not mix well with your light one, but he couldn't bear to see you in pain.
Little by little, he eventually came closer to you and tried to talk to you. Asmo wanted to know why you were in pain and crying, among many other things. The Avatar of Lust knew he couldn't stay in your presence for long without being affected, so he tried his best to learn the reason for your sadness and find a solution.
Seeing your appearance brought back memories of the Celestial Realm, which made him realize something. How had he not heard about a being like you before? Had Michael and, maybe, Lucifer known of your existence and hid it from others, or did they not know about you?
Tumblr media
Beel was surprised by your appearance, but unlike his brothers, he didn't think about who you were or why you hid your appearance or divine aura.
His focus was only on your tears. Why were you crying, and what could he do to make you feel better? Beel tanked his way closer to you without worrying about the effects of your divinity on his body or mind.
"What's wrong, (y/n)? Did someone do something to hurt you?" He patiently waited for your answer. His eyes wandered to your wings, and had you not been sad, Beel would have smiled slightly. Your wings slightly reminded him of Lilith and her wish to have beautiful wings. He couldn't help but think that if she was alive, she would have loved this form of yours.
Once you gathered enough strength to tell Beel you were having a bad day, he tried his best to help you by talking to you, giving you hugs, and sharing his food. If you tell him someone caused that sadness, Beel will 'take care' of the person for you right in front of you so that you can smile. Whatever it takes, he will do.
Tumblr media
Belphie had to force himself to stay grounded as his first instinct was to run out of your room. Compared to his brothers, your aura had a crushing effect on him. He wanted to walk away, but seeing the way you looked at him, tugged at his heart.
The Avatar of Sloth wondered just how much magic you had to be able to constantly conceal your presence from everyone. He understood you were a god/goddess, but even deities have limits. Belphie slowly got closer to you but didn't dare to touch you. Once you concealed your divinity, he planned to make it up to you by hugging you and not letting go.
"What's wrong, (y/n)?" It was evident he was concerned about you.
"Bad day...my wings...and horns feel...heavy..."
He could completely understand your problem, as his horns were the heaviest out of his brothers. At times, he purposely avoided his demon form just so he didn't have to deal with the burdens of the heavy horns.
Knowing he couldn't help you much, Belphie considered calling Solomon over to try to alleviate your pain. But would the sorcerer be able to help? Moreover, would he attempt to use you for his own benefit or to help humanity?

OWL HOUSE ANIMATED TEST LEAKED?!!?!
Tumblr media
ALL RIGHT SO THE ORIGINAL ANIMATED TEST GOT LEAKED?! This is an animated test btw, a proof-of-concept of what TOH could look like, according to the person who posted this; The actual pilot still eludes us!
What we get and hear are more or less what we've already glimpsed and could guess at, just expanded a bit more; Luz wants to learn magic, Eda is skeptical, that sort of thing. What's interesting is that Luz claims King told HER he once knew magic, but based on how the final story went, this was probably one of his made-up delusions. He also has a lot more repressed, built-up anger from being coddled and patronized, which would've been interesting to see...
Tumblr media
I wonder if that trait ended up transferring over to Proto Willow; Or rather, Paulina! I heard someone suggest the spelling is Polina since it's Slavic and TOH is based on Slavic myth, but for now, let's keep it simple. Paulina would def start off the same way as our Willow; Not doing well in magic, and messing up (this time on Luz herself, hilariously), but I presume the idea for her to shift to plant magic as her true calling was still there. Not only do we see this in earlier concept art, but a later bit with one of Paulina's plants harassing Luz. And she still has the issue of glowing green magic that she can't quite control...
We get Prince William, who shows up when Luz mentions the most 'powerful wizards', more on him later. It's generally speculated and agreed that William is a prototypical version of Hunter, so I find it neat that Paulina's name changed to Willow, as William became Hunter...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's a glimpse of the Owl House's original design, as seen in the first proof-of-concept poster released back when the show was announced in 2018, with Eda's shop built into the front of the building! The tower doesn't have a roof, and the giant eye window blinks, which was carried over to the first episode's ending. We have some Spencer Wan concept animations he released a while back, but fully colored and animated... A Luz Doppelgänger seems to have always been an idea, so I guess the creepy puppet is Proto Vee?
Tumblr media
THIS! We have what I suspect to be a prototype version of Emperor Belos, possibly when he was advisor to Emperor Pupa? I'm not sure, but the context, the blue eyes in darkness, the mask... Their location in what seems to be a cathedral, plus the resemblance to this concept art for Belos?
Tumblr media
This is Proto-Belos. Him taking Eda away in what resembles a cathedral seems to indicate that his Christian extremist-leanings were a thing as early as this animated pitch, and what's more...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the stained-glass window behind Luz, we see a portrait of Sir William, complete with that wavy-styled sword that resembles the knife Philip killed Caleb with! This raises so many questions... Is the Sir William we see here the real deal? Was he deposed and put into a slumber by Belos, the way Pupa would've been? And William is the true ruler of the isles?
Tumblr media
Would William have been Belos' brother, his Caleb, hence the round human ears? Why does he look so young, was he de-aged, or is he a clone, a Grimwalker that was abandoned for not being sufficient, and/or discovered in an 'incubation' stage when Luz slapped him awake? I presume this concept of Hunter, who is actually referred to by this name, came later down the line;
Tumblr media
Overall, very fascinating stuff! A better glimpse into the development of Willow, Belos, and Hunter(?) as well as an older idea for King's personality, and of course a better look at the original Owl House design shown in 2018! Brief yet wonderful and to the point, we've seen most of the stuff from this pitch as silent clips or images, but I'm glad to have it as part of a cohesive narrative this time! May we one day find the actual pilot itself...!

⸺ LESSON 10 ⸺
Solomon
Lucifer
Solomon & "Nightbringer"
MC's magic
strange feelings & soup
the 'MC is human' situation
records of a banshee
misc
- lesson 9 || lesson 11 || all posts so far -
I'm going to reveal my crack theory on Nightbringer's identity soon since the brainrot is getting out of hand, but then again, it shouldn't be hard to guess based on the points I bring up for this lesson :) I'm still preparing a sideblog for that tho, so it might take a bit Also if someone wants to get tagged for these recaps, do let me know! General spoiler warning for all of Obey Me Nightbringer, as well as for the original Obey Me
⸺ SOLOMON ⸺
Solomon suddenly shows up at HoL uninvited and claims he and Simeon have plans for drinking tea together. Simeon doesn't remember ever making such plans [10-4] -> while we're not told what they are talking about, I'm guessing it has to do with 10-A -> love how he just was at Nightbringer's tea party, and now his immediate response when asked why he's here is just "......Simeon and I are having a tea party" lol
by the time Solomon arrived at HoL, Satan was already outside, yet he didn't realize Solomon came over [10-18] -> while you can argue that Satan was just so caught up in watching the cat, he does notice MC coming over, the brothers leaving to the Demon Lord's Castle, AND this is the same demon that could later tell on that MC was standing in front of his bedroom door based on the intervall of their footsteps
⸺ LUCIFER ⸺
Belphegor talks about Lucifer trying (+ failing) to hold in his laughter [10-1]. Demon!Lucifer would never :(
Lucifer seems overly reluctant to take MC with him and Belphegor at first [10-4]. When asked why, he deflects -> he was kind of quick to entertain the idea of taking Solomon with him as the 'uninvolved third party' though
Lucifer seems surprised that Belphegor was denied entry to a shop back when they first arrived in the Devildom [10-6; pic below] -> since this treatment from the denizens was part of the reason Mammon wanted to gain the title of 'Rulers of the Underworld', you'd think that Lucifer would be aware of this kind of treatment happening in the first place...
Tumblr media
it's raining, which reminds the brothers of the day before the Great Celestial War + according to Lucifer, it was unusally quiet [10-9]. The brothers talk about what everyone was doing that day:
Belphegor was napping in a tree and was all alone that day [10-11] Beelzebub was off in the human world to run an errand on Michael's behave [10-11] Asmodeus was taking a bath, and thinking of ways to get out of Raphael scolding him later on [lesson 10 hard mode] we don't get any comment on Satan, but he was obviously still part of Lucifer, so uh... Would have been interesting to know if he has any fragments of Lucifer's memories of that time tho Leviathan and Michael were taking a walk and talking [lesson 10 hard mode] Mammon was tasked with covering Beelzebub's gatekeeping duty, but he ended up skipping out of it [lesson 10 hard mode] and then there's Lucifer who was......somewhere. The game doesn't tell us what he was up to, but instead points out that no one knows where he was [lesson 10 hard mode; pic below]
Tumblr media
Lucifer hogging the family braincell as usual and immediately realizes that, yep, MC has the Ring of Light [10-16] -> btw kind of unrelated but I do find it funny that out of all the characters to (originally) head to the Demon Lord's Castle to free Beel, it was MC and Luci & Belphie. You know. The only two brothers that wanted to attack MC once they found out that they are a human. Imagine what would have happened if Mammon, Levi and Asmo hadn't shown up lol
⸺ SOLOMON & "NIGHTBRINGER" ⸺
[hi, this is probably the only time I'm bringing the Japanese version into this recap simply because I already translated this specific scene here]
illusion!Diavolo and illusion!Simeon pressure Solomon into choosing either demons or angels. Solomon chooses the secret third option :) [10-A] -> since this illusion was most likely created by Nightbringer, we can assume that he wants Solomon to either choose his side (whichever that may be), OR to simply abandon humanity altogether -> a little later on Solomon implies that Nightbringer should know by now that Solomon won't ever waver on his convictions -> Nightbringer knows Solomon well enough to know that threatening MC's safety might get him to change his mind. Solomon does stop smiling at this threat, so he does seem to take the threat seriously
during the illusion tea party, Solomon says that he just wants to be free, and that that's part of his agreement with "him" [10-A] -> while we don't know for certain, I'm guessing his agreement is with Nightbringer since it would make sense narrative-wise
Solomon also tells Nightbrignger that he sounds like a demon [10-A] -> sounds like something you'd either say to someone who isn't a demon, or someone who only recently became a demon
Nightbringer says that Solomon is acting more like a demon than he is because of his arrogance [10-A] -> Solomon then says that it is inevitable that he behaves like a demon since Nightbringer made him to the person he is today
Two fun facts about the Japanese version! 1. Nightbringer uses 「傲慢」 for 'arrogant', which also happens to be the word used in the game for the deadly sin 'pride' 2. instead of saying "you're the one who made me who I am today", Solomon says that Nightbringer is the one who reduced him to what he is now
when Solomon calls Nightbringer......'Nightbringer' (lol), he actually puts his name in quotation marks in the Japanese version [10-A; pic below]. Makes you wonder if he actually is the historic Nightbringer we learn a little of later on, or if it's just someone using that name...
Tumblr media
「」 are the Japanese quotation marks
⸺ MC'S MAGIC ⸺
MC one again absorbs the brother's magic in order to calm down Beelzebub [10-16]
⸺ STRANGE FEELINGS & SOUP ⸺
beast mode Beelzebub is heading to the colosseum, and Lucifer points out that it was build on the exact spot the brothers first landed in the Devildom [10-13]. That was a year ago. Why is it built already??
Leviathan points out that the Great Celestial War feels like a really long time ago [lesson 10 hard mode]
⸺ THE 'MC IS HUMAN' SITUATION ⸺
[hey, we finally reached the reason I wanted to make this its own category, whuu!]
so here's the thing:
1. back in lesson 8, Diavolo said that while he is now fairly confident that MC is indeed a human, he still can't be 100% sure because there is "something else" within MC [8-1; first pic below] 2. back in OG season 3, fairy illusion!Lucifer asks MC what they are. If MC answers that they are an angel, illusion!Lucifer says this that he knows when he is in the presence of an angel, but also admits that there is something else within them and that he can't say so for certain [OG 52-5; second pic below]
THE REASON I'M BRINGING ALL THIS UP is because now in lesson 10, Lucifer once again mentions being able to tell when he's in the presence of an angel. This time, however, he indirectly claims that he can tell that MC isn't one [10-16; third pic below]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⸺ RECORDS OF A BANSHEE ⸺
Beelzebub managed to escape from his prison cell and we learn about the state he is in [10-9; pic below]. Once again, it seems like too big a reaction for just hearing the word 'banshee'
Tumblr media
we also learn that Beelzebub's rampage started right after the brothers left earlier [10-9; pic below]
Tumblr media
Barbatos actually blames the brothers for Beelzebub's escape [10-9] and I am inclinded to believe him because:
1. Solomon was (supposedly) with him earlier, meaning Barbatos would have known had Solomon tried to pull something. And yet he is blaming the brothers 2. while Solomon could have just been sneaky & teleported away right after putting some kind of spell/curse on Beelzebub, the other characters mentioned last lesson that Beelzebub was already acting beside himself during the dinner party, meaning it must have been someone who was also at the dinner party. From what we know, Solomon was with MC at the time 3. while it could have been both Solomon AND Barbatos, I seriously doubt that Barbatos was involved in this situation in any way. Diavolo is already in a lot of distress because of suddenly having to govern the Devildom, MC's situation, Lucifer's comment last lesson and so. much. more. The Beel situation right now just causes Diavolo even more stress, and doing something like that just feels COMPLETELY out of character for Barbatos 4. speaking of seeming out of character, it's not like Barbatos to just baselessly accuse others like that, meaning he probably had a solid reason to blame the brothers 5. I am reaching with this one, but I like the idea lol--Diavolo still has the ability to tell lie from truth, and while Belphegor vehemently denies having played any part in Beelzebub's escape, Lucifer never outright says so
they suddenly start arguing that Beelzebub is acting like this because he's hungry [10-13] -> thing is, we later learn that he's lacking his "demonic disposition" and that the hunger he feels is all No. 6's doing. So unless No. 6 suddenly decided to go all in that can't be true
⸺ MISC ⸺
Belphegor tells MC a little more about Lilith + we get Michael lore (he looks like a jellyfish :] ) [10-1]
Belphegor also tells us that the Celestial Realm forbids angels from intervering with a human's life [10-1]
Belphegor's line from the website [10-1; pic below]
Tumblr media
the sibling bickering <3 [10-6; pic below]
Tumblr media
Simeon reassures Satan that they will one day be known as "the seven brothers" [10-18]

The Chronicles of Isabelle attempting to do Witchcraft and Demon magic on memory and guess work alone
*frantic running up the stairs and slamming it shut*
Crowley: What has gotten into you?
Isabelle: Nothing. Nothing at all.
Crowley: Why did you run out of the basement then?
*unholy screeches of something down there*
Isabelle: Um...I got a new pet?
Vil: You know, in all the weeks we've been here for training camp, I haven't seen you do much for skincare, and not a single zit. What's your routine?
Isabelle: Nothing special. Just some generic makeup wipes, moisturizer, black magic.
Vil: Haha, very funny.
Isabelle: I wasn't joking. I know a potion for breakouts.
Vil: ....so what's the recipe?
Ace: Hey, you're back from town.
Isabelle: Yep. Had to pick up some stuff.
Deuce: *picks up a jar* What's this?
Isabelle: Pigs blood.
Ace and Deuce: 😱😱
Isabelle: What? I needed it for a potion.
Ace: Where do you even get that!?
Isabelle: Butcher in town. I tutor his daughter in English, I get discounts. It's worked out great for me so far. I also got bacon, hungry?
Isabelle: Hypothetically speaking. Say someone was conjuring in the woods on a full moon and a shadow creature followed them home. How would one exercise it?
Sam: Are you sure this is hypothetical?
Isabelle with a gangly shadow moving on its own behind her: Yes.
Epel: So what did Sam say?
Isabelle: Hes looking into it. But until then, I figured out the shadow creature likes French fries and watching Strawberry Shortcake.
Jack: How did you even figure that out?
Isabelle: It stole my fries in the cafeteria and was watching TV and it seemed interested in cartoons and I kind figured it out from there.
*unholy screeches*
Jack: That thing is still in the basement?!
Isabelle: Her name is Lemon, and she's hungry ok?
Epel: I'm afraid to ask what Lemon eats.
Isabelle: Cat food mostly. But she does also like candy.
Crowley over the loud speaker: - and this Friday will be Casual Dress Day. So uniforms are not required. And lastly, whoever keeps leaving strange ritual circles and infernal symbols out in the woods, stop it.
Everyone in class: *looks at one person*
Isabelle: *slowly sinking into her chair*

Hi! Sorry to bother you but I’m looking for specific pieces of HP meta and I’m kinda lost.
Do you have any reading recommendations about homosexuality in the Harry Potter world? I’m trying to decide a couple of things about the world-building for a fic and I’d love to read about other takes on the topic.
Hi! It's not a bother at all I love this stuff! I have my own thoughts about this too and this is a question I often think about and I was planning on writing something about this eventually anyways so I'm glad I got this ask because now I have a excuse to! (And I can talk about some gripes I have with the author as well so yay)
CW: Homophobia and misogyny
Here is a meta by @thecarnivorousmuffinmeta on homophobia in the wizarding world.
Here is @hchollym's take on gay marriage in the WW
The books give no mention of homosexuality explicitly, but the author has slightly expanded on the topic at later times in interviews and tweets. In 2007 she confirmed that Dumbledore was gay and later she gives us more details about his sexlife. She then said this in 2007 about homosexuality and homophobia in the wizarding world:
"MA: 'We wanna talk about Dumbledore so bad. We know that you've created worldwide intrigue when you said that he is gay. But I wanted to ask you about homosexuality in the Wizarding World in general. Is it a taboo?' JKR: 'Now, that's something I never thought of. I would think that that would be-- it would be exactly what it is in the Muggle World. But the greatest taboo in the Wizarding World is, well, for some wizards... I mean if we're talking about prejudiced people within the Wizarding World, what they care most about is your blood status. So I think you could be, um, gay, pure-blood, and totally without any kind of criticism from the Lucius Malfoys of the world. I don't think that would be something that would interest him in the slightest. But, you know, I can't answer for all witches and wizards because I think in matters of the heart, it would be directly parallel to our world.'"
She also says this in a tweet about homophobia in 2014:
“Only by ludicrous Muggles. The wizards don't give a damn - it's all about the magic for them.”
Now whether or not you take this to be canon is up to you. What I think is interesting here is I feel as though we are made to think that homosexuality is a non issue in the wizarding world and not a point of prejudice by the second statement. From her first statement she says that its “something she never thought of” and I'm guessing her second statement is contradictory because she wanted to appease LGBT+ fans and reassure them that Hogwarts is a safe space (for some, lets not ask her about the other letters in the acronym).
This is a pattern I've noticed JKR exhibiting in a lot of her post book words in which she is trying to communicate how egalitarian the world she created is through her new information, while the text does not reflect this worldview. I think a good example of this is how when she listed the ministers of magic she included several women, going back as far as the 1700s to try to show there are not as many barriers to entry for women in the WW. Yet we see many instances of sexism throughout the series from the characters. I think what she was trying to do is have her world primarily focus on blood purity, and creature rights and have the issues we face either go to the backburner or not be present at all. Now I understand this choice, (though I really don’t think it's necessary, more interesting or remotely realistic) but I also think her execution is pretty awful because you can (and I'm about to) make an argument that these issues are still very present in the wizarding world. I think the biggest issue here is that she doesn't understand the structures and systems of oppression that she handwaved to the side to truly write a world where they would not be a real problem. To me, given what we've seen of the wizarding world, homophobia would still very much be an issue.
So I think if we're going to talk about what homosexuality looks like in the wizarding world we would also need to talk about what homophobia would look like in the wizarding world. Homophobia has many factors contributing and working with it to make it function as prejudice and a system. If I had to break it down to its biggest parts I would say our big three is: religious fears, rigid gender norms, and disgust. Those often play off each other to create an effective tool for upholding a power structure in society by subjugating certain members. Let's examine these in the context of Harry Potter.
Religious fears:
Religious fears resulting in homophobia is very common in the real world but for this factor to apply to the WW I think we would need to determine whether or not the wizarding world is even religious. We have examples of christianity showing up across the books in casual ways, Harry has a Godfather, he was christened as a baby, and Lily and James have a quote from the bible on their tombstone. From this we can at least make the assumption that the Potter family is religious to some capacity. We also see that one of the Hogwarts ghosts is called “The Fat Friar’. But to my knowledge this is where the references end. If the wizarding world is religious, or at least wizarding Britain, they seem to be casually so. So I don't see this being a huge driving factor in any homophobia we would see in that universe.
Rigid gender norms:
I think if you take away any religious influences you're still going to see homophobia even in its most violent forms and this has a lot to do with rigid gender norms. If gender norms are established to sustain a power structure that a society relies on to maintain a certain order, any breaking of those norms will be met with punishment (socially or physically). In a heteronormative culture, homosexuality can be seen as a breaking of these norms.
First off, Pureblood culture seems to be obsessed with lineage and creating heirs, In one of the meta I linked it talks about how homosexuality would be a threat to that. At least in pureblood society, your job as a man is to make pureblooded babies and your job as a woman would be to give birth to them, anything else would be looked down upon.
If we step outside of pureblood society, we can see that the general wizarding population also seems to have strict ways in which men and women should act.
So what are the gender roles the wizarding world has? Well there are the clothing, all wizards wear robes, but dresses are traditionally for women and any robe that looks a little to dress-like for a man could be seen as embarrassing:
“'What is that supposed to be?'  He was holding up something that looked to Harry like a long maroon velvet dress. It had moldy-looking lace frills at the collar and matching lace cuffs. - ‘Mum, you've given me Ginny's new dress,’ said Ron, holding it out to her. ‘Of course I haven't,’  said Mrs Weasley. ‘Thats for you, dress robes’.- “You've got to be kidding’ said Ron in disbelief ‘Im not wearing that, no way!' - In some trepidation Harry opened the last parcel on his camp bed. It wasn't as bad as he expected, however. His dress robes didn't have any lace on them at all - in fact they were more or less the same as his school ones, except they were bottle green except black” (GOF, pg 155 and 156)
“Harry, Ron, Seamus, Dean, and Neville changed into their dress robes up in their dormitory, all looking very self conscious, but none as much as Ron who surveyed himself in the long mirror in the corner with an appalled look on his face. There was no getting around the fact that his robes looked more like a dress than anything. In a desperate attempt to make them more manly he used a severing charm on the ruffs and cuffs." (GOF, pg 411)
There are cultural roles:
“‘Come on, Ginny's not bad,’ said George fairly sitting down next to Fred. ‘Actually , I dunno how she got so good, seeing how we never let her play with us…’  ‘she's been breaking into your broom shed in the garden since the age of six and taking each of your brooms out in turn when you weren't looking’  (OOTP, pg 574)
There is no ostensible reason for Ginny not to be able to play Quidditch with her older brothers, even if she was too young at one point, very soon after she should have been able to, considering Ron was only a year older. From this we can assume that wizards, or at least the Weasleys, have a view of femininity as more fragile, or weaker than masculinity. This idea is reinforced through the founders of Hogwarts making separate dorm rooms for girls and boys where boys cannot enter the girls dorm but girls can enter the boys, this also positions men as aggressors in a sexual sense.
There are sexual roles, any time there is slutshaming in the series a women is at the end of it. Hermione is seen as a “scarlet women” for appearing to toy with Harry's heart:
“I told you not to annoy Rita Skeeter! She's made you out to be some sort of - scarlet women!’ Hermione stopped looking astonished and snorted with laughter. ‘Scarlet women?’ - ‘It's what my mum calls them’ Ron muttered." (GOF, pg 513)
Ginny is constantly facing accusations of behaving a little too promiscuously by her family.
“'Let's get this straight once and for all. It is none of your business who I go out with or what I do with them, Ron -' ‘Yeah it is!’ Said Ron just as angrily. ‘D’you think I want people saying my sister’s a-’ (HBP, pg 287)
"'my tiara sets the whole thing nicely, said Aunt Muriel in a rather carrying whisper, 'but I must say, Ginevra's dress is far too low cut.'" (DH, pg 145)
Merope Riddle is called a slut for running off with Tom Riddle Sr.
"'dishonored us, she did, that little slut!'" (HBP, pg 365)
All of these instances are made to seem as negative and as a breaking of the societal norms. The norm being women as chaste, demure figures of virtue.
We've established these gender roles, and we've seen there are consequences when you fall out of line. So, what if the gender role calls for you to be masculine as a man and then defines that masculinity in part with obtaining women and sexual prowess? Homosexuality would be in direct conflict with that. And with that lets tie it into disgust.
Disgust:
The disgust that a homophobe feels can be stemming from a couple different places. Maybe it's religious fears like we talked about or maybe it's because of gender norms. But that disgust is only taking place because they perceive something they hold to be pure being tainted and violated; the word of god, the sanctity of masculinity, or hegemonic gender roles. In a society where these beliefs are upheld and treated as sacred, any conflict with that will be met with judgment at best and violence at worse.
I don't see the wizarding world as a progressive space where homosexuality or anything LGBT+ would be considered a non issue because the text does not reflect that. The text shows the same misogyny, the same disdain for femininity, and the same reverence for masculinity that we see in everyday life and because of that I feel it only makes sense to see the wizarding world just as bigoted as ours.
Ok so what does homosexuality look like in the wizarding world then?
Well if we've established the wizarding world as a society that would be hostile (in any way) to gay people I think its easier to move forward on how to imagine how they fit into that society since we have ours for reference. However, Its important to remember that our oppression doesn't define us and its not the only thing to consider while writing. Think about what the fashion would look like, what the music would sound like, what the spaces would be like and just generally what the culture would be. Have fun with it!
Hope this helped a little!

Hi. :D
Regarding the ending, it seems like the fandom divided about Marinette's decision to hide the truth from Adrien. I've seen group of people believing the lie is the result of her being manipulated by Gabriel, there's other who said that it's in character for Marinette to control information and compare it to what she did in Bubbler episode and there's also people who believe that the lie is a result of the wish that make Marinette's memory become blurry hence why she believed that Gabriel and Monarque are two different people.
What about you? What do you think about Marinette decision? What could be reasoning?
Thank you and I'm sorry for grammar error. ;;
My personal opinion is that it's all the result of bad writing, making it impossible to guess Marinette's motivation. If/when her motivation is revealed, I'm guessing it's going to make about as much sense as Alya knowing who Ladybug is and still believing Lila. To show you what I mean, I'll just go through the arguments you bring up one-by-one and explain why they don't hold much water.
Gabriel Manipulating Marinette
For this point to make sense, Gabriel needed to actually manipulate Marinette, but that's not what we see. He makes a dying request of her, but nothing in the fight or the season backs up her caring about that request. The lead up to the wish is largely Bugnoir and Monarch in a verbal sparing match that looks something like this:
Bug Noire: You'd know this if you ever took an interest in him. But in reality, Adrien means NOTHING to you anymore! You've locked him in your house — LOCKED him in your Alliance rings! Locked him into a life that allows you to hide behind him in order to justify YOUR madness! Lucky Charm!! (summons a tube of glue) Monarch: All I want is for him to be happy
Oh yeah, she's being so manipulated here! Gabriel is totally changing her mind about everything! That's why the fight literally ends with Gabriel changing his mind and making a different wish than originally intended! That's how manipulation works, right?
If the message of this fight was supposed to be that Gabriel manipulated Marinette and not the other way around, then it would need to look something like this comic where he guilts her into keeping his secrets. It would need look like this because Gabriel and Marinette have nothing close to a positive relationship. They hate each other. They also know next to nothing about each other, which is why the fight's dialogue is nothing but exposition and squabbling over who knows Adrien better as Adrien is literally their only connection.
This is why the only manipulation that would work on Marinette is guilt tripping her about the reveal hurting Adrien because Marinette doesn't give two shits about Gabriel. But Gabriel doesn't do that. He just politely asks her to not tell Adrien:
Gabriel: (turns around to Marinette) Marinette, make sure that Adrien never knows about the villain that I was, (puts down the twin rings on the ground) but instead, that he remembers the times I tried to be a good father. (turns back to Gimmi)
This is not manipulation. He's not messing with her emotions. He doesn't say anything like, "telling Adrien will hurt him immensely Marinette. If you love him, you'll let him remember me as a loving father." He just makes a request of a young woman who hates him and hopes for the best.
If Marinette loved Gabriel and was heartbroken that he was her enemy, then his dying wish could be argued to be a form of manipulation because he knows how much she cares for him and how much his actions hurt her and how much she doesn't want to remember him as a villain, but that's not what the writers wrote. Instead, they gave us things like the pancake scenes and Gabriel trying to break Adrienette up with magic.
Marinette likes Controlling Information
I've talked about the scarf thing and Marinette's general tendency toward secret keeping before. My general thoughts are that there is no point in the show where Marinette is shown to like keeping secrets or controlling information. She only ever keeps secrets that arguably should be kept. The show has also never put her in a situation where she has an ongoing lie that actively hurts someone.
You may be thinking about the scarf thing as a counter argument, but for that to be an indication of how she handles ongoing lies, it would need to be an ongoing lie in the actual narrative and not just the fandom. As is, the scarf appeared in one episode and was then forgotten by the show. The scarf lie was also a split-second decision made without any knowledge of why the lie even happened.
If Adrien wore the scarf all the time and talked about how much it meant to him that his father had gotten him such a wonderful gift, then I'd agree with you that the scarf sets Marinette up as the type of person who might keep the senti thing a secret. But that's not what the show actually does. She's never confronted with this lie again. At this point, it would honestly be weird for her to bring it up.
I'm sure someone is reading this and thinking about the Chat Blanc thing, but the narrative treats that episode in such a confusing way that I don't even know how to approach it. A lot of people thought that it was the thing driving the season four conflict, but that doesn't actually seem to be the case because revealing it wasn't part of resolving the season four conflict. Marinette also doesn't seem to have any trauma around Chat Blanc. Instead - somehow - Adrien does even though he doesn't know it happened and I just... what?
At the very least, I think that we can all acknowledge that telling your partner that he ended the world in an alternate timeline that will now never exist and whose cause you do not know has, at best, questionable benefits. The only reason I wanted Marinette to tell him was because I thought that it was affecting her and because, in certain circumstances, telling him could have lead to Gabriel's defeat and I like poetic justice.
But if Chat Blanc isn't affecting Marinette, then telling Chat Noir is kinda pointless since there's nothing that he can do about it as far as she knows. It could even be arguably seen as cruel. I don't think that Marinette needs to tell her partner every awful thing that he does when the akuma of the day controls him because none of it is his fault and he can't change the past. Telling him just feels like guilt tripping. Given canon's wacky writing, a Chat Blanc reveal is just that on a larger scale.
I honestly can't think of anything else we could call an ongoing lie outside of the secret identities and general miraculous stuff. The senti thing is Marinette's first real harmful ongoing lie and it's one that she actively planned, too, since she would have had time to gather her thoughts before she sees Adrien. I truly don't think that it fits her character, especially since Adrien isn't shown to be in mourning.
I'm not saying that this would be an easy thing to tell him, I'm just saying that it really doesn't fit her character to choose to lie. Even if you disagree with my above arguments and say that the scarf and Chat Blanc were setups for this, canon itself has given Marinette an arc about being less controlling.
In season five we have the stuff with Lila where the whole "high road" thing was proven to be a bad call. And, Chat Blanc or not, season four ended with her saying this:
Ladybug: Why don't you just give up on me? I've lost ALL the Miraculous! I'm the worst Guardian EVER! I wanted to control everything, I didn't listen to you, I lied to you, I kept you at a distance! Every time you offered me a helping hand, I never took it! I really made a mess of EVERYTHING! (continues sobbing)
So what was the point of that if she still "tries to control everything"? (Even though I'd argue that she didn't. A lot of this rant isn't actually backed up by what we see happening in season four, but it's still the lesson that the writers chose to have her openly state she learned.)
In summary, Marinette has never been big on lying unless she has to and she's supposedly had an arc about not being controlling, so either this isn't it or she's learned nothing and season four was an even bigger waste of time than I already thought it was.
The Wish Did It
This is arguably the most plausible scenario, but if we go this route, then it's still bad writing because the wish rewrites the universe so there's no way to discover "the truth" because it isn't the truth anymore. Whatever Gabriel changed is now reality and the only way to make that not so is to retcon how the wish works. And if they're reconning that, well, how can you trust anything the show tells you about the lore?
The reason why consistent world building and characterization are so important is because it's the foundation on which stories are built. The puzzle pieces that fit together to create the cohesive whole. If your puzzle pieces don't fit together, then you are telling a story that the audience cannot logically follow and that is generally considered to be objectively bad storytelling unless you're writing literary nonsense like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. (Yes that's an actual genre.)
In Summary
Like I said at the top, this all just feels like bad writing to me. It's not the natural next chapter in the story. It actively goes against past characterization and supposed character arcs, but that's hardly shocking. Throughout the show, we've seen the writers do whatever the hell they want to make a plot work, ignoring their own lore in the process. I don't expect that to change and neither should you.
The Alya and Lila thing is my go-to example because it's the most glaring indication of what you should expect to see in this show. If a reporter who actively reported that Lila is Ladybug's best friend will not be swayed by learning that Ladybug is someone who actively hates Lila, then it is pointless to try to make sense of the writing. Trying to logically guess where it's going next or what a character is going to do is an exercise in madness because that's not how Miraculous works.
It's why I haven't weighed in on what the wish will mean for season six. The wish will mean whatever the hell the writers decide it means no matter what the previous five seasons contained. It's also why this blog largely focuses on discussing canon's existing flaws and ways that you could potentially fix them. That's the stuff I really enjoy and find value in. Theory crafting only works for media that is logically solid and consistent. Asks like yours are still welcome! Just know that they're going to bring out my most cynical, judgemental side.

Moon in the Day, ep 2
Two episodes in and I have so many questions and speculations. There's quite a bit to unpack here.
Firstly, we know that they loved each other in their past lives. Despite him killing her whole family. Despite her trying to kill him multiple times. He kept her close and she stayed close. It was a choice. I am very curious to know just WHAT made her finally go through with killing him only for her to hurl herself off a cliff after. Who was chasing them?
I like that their past is not told in chronological order. Rather we are getting it in bits and pieces, sometimes triggered by something that is said in the present and what he remembers.
We learn that he has been with her through multiple reincarnations. Always watching over her. It looks like her current life is the first time she's had her original face. And there just happens to be his doppelganger's body who has conveniently died. I'm convinced that their original life's faces, Joon Oh dying, Young Hwa passing out, the blood dripping down her arm plus the touching of the hands has allowed the General to inhabit Joon Oh's body.
I'm not sure why the cancer is still there when the other wounds healed. And I guess Joon Oh's heart is still beating which is also weird to me. Ultimately it means this body is a loaner and there will only be more grief later. It is just me or does he look a little sickly in that body?
It's interesting that the General can remember bits and pieces of Joon Oh's life. I wonder how far he can go back in his memories as right now they are fairly recent ones.
Which brings me to another point - was the General actually able to READ the script? The show made is seem like he did, which would not make sense since the written Korean language was not created until hundreds of years after he lived. So was he able to read it and if so, was it because Joon Oh could read it? Or is it because he's been with Young Hwa through 1500 years of reincarnations that he's naturally learned it?
I do like how he doesn't have any of the shock in being in the modern world, even though he doesn't really understand it fully and he still talks as he used to when he was alive.
Couple of final thoughts - I'm not convinced the talisman is the thing creating the magic bubble shield around Young Hwa though I could be wrong. I find it interesting how the General always refers to Young Hwa by her current name. It's never her original name (which I don't think they've said in the show yet, nor his for that matter).
Really want to see more from Young Hwa's perspective as she has likely suffered like him throughout her multiple reincarnations (the nightmares etc).

anyway here's a big sketch dump of my children :) not sure why the image quality is Garbage but whatever lol. im still ironing out their designs but i think ive got their general vibes figured out!!
If you've seen the video I posted on Christmas then you've met Vaitus already! The other character shown here is Minare :)
Info about these two and their world is under the cut :P
This has been kinda hard to write tbh!! I have a giant document with a ton of stream-of-consciousness writing about the world but now I have to think of a way to explain it in an easy to understand way HAHA ^^;; I guess I can start with the main characters!! I'll start off with Vaitus, since I introduced him first with the video :)
Vaitus is the crown prince of the kingdom that the story takes place in! In this world, some people have magical abilities that are unique to them (or to their family), and Vaitus's magic is the main source of conflict for his character. His ability allows him to drain the life-force of any living thing he touches, be it plant, animal, or person. He doesn't want to use his magic to hurt anyone, but his father, the king, sees potential in this ability. Why not use such powerful magic to make a statement? So, the king has Vaitus use his magic to execute his enemies. They have plenty; even now, nearly one hundred years after his ancestors took power over this kingdom, the people whisper their dissent.
Minare is a member of a rebel organization, looking to dethrone the current king and place a new ruler in power—the last descendant of the original royal family from a century ago, the only one with the power of light to vanquish the monsters and purify the cursed grounds spreading through the land—Minare herself! She has quite the network of friends and acquaintances throughout the kingdom, and makes a habit of getting to know people all throughout the capital city that surround the castle; she'll be responsible for protecting and leading them in the near future, if all goes according to plan. As a normal civilian, she claims her magic allows her to create simple spheres of light; a helpful, if ordinary, power. In reality, her light magic is capable of powerful protections against the evils slowly gaining power in the kingdom. However, her light magic would be incredibly recognizable as being inherited from the original royal family, so she has to keep it a secret while she hides in plain sight.
Ordinarily, these two would be on opposite sides of the conflict (and they are to an extent), but they've also found themselves in a very... interesting situation. See, through a convoluted series of events, Minare and Vaitus have managed to befriend each other, with both of them hiding their true identity from the other.
I've got lots more to share, but I think this is a good introduction to the characters and world for now!! Also it's late so I'm gonna go to bed soon :)

if you got complete control over DC and got to write a Jason solo comic, how would you go about it? or like what would be the story??
you're indulging me!
well, my first preference would probably be writing a jason-never-died elseworld and this is what i'm doing with my series robin vol 2. or something like 80s retroactive but longer, so essentially a robin jay series that we were robbed of.
but i'm presuming you are asking about what i would do with the main timeline... i guess if you've been following me for a while, nothing on this list will come as a surprise, because it's simply a combination of my own meta dressed in plot points... i'm just not sure how i would organise it, since i mostly think about these in terms of fanfiction, so it's a bit fragmented in my head. but i think it would be doable to combine those:
addressing the current mess in canon: unavoidable. i always imagined (and by always i mean i've had that image in my head for at least 5 years now) if i were to write a comicbook script for jay i would start with the classic simple layout showcasing the more sunny (early days robin jay's) version of gotham but with panels shaped like shattered glass imposing on it, displaying different contradicting pieces of canon and culminating with the question of who *the real* jason todd is, as a nod to countdown asking the same. dc actually attempted to do something when the infinite frontier was first introduced, it just wasn't very well executed... (and as far as i know the hypertime is still supposed to be relevant so it would work...)
since i already started talking about countdown it could also contain some multiversal insight into all the other worlds in which jason todd is alive.
or maybe an idea i once dropped here, with the mystical serpentine of magical fog (the one from the lost days and the end of the utrh when jason presumably is brought back to life once again) traveling through the scenes of flashbacks of other characters (perhaps even just a reflections of retcons!) tarnishing jason's memory when he's dead, cut to kid jay literally stirring in the coffin, and finally an adult jason waking up with a jolt in the final scene. so many options.
you get the image. i wish that dc utilised the weirdness of the meta in a serious way, and that the talk of the past was a talk of the history of comics in a sense... as i previously expressed here.
as you all know by now my reading of jason (and batman in general even) is mostly based on the 80s... and so it would be a love letter to this era. i would definitely want to include some robin jay stories there as well, maybe make jason investigate cases that date back to his childhood and are somehow interconnected, creating a bridge between the narratives and reconciling them.
ending what i call the long funeral - jason's era of remaining dead both socially and to the narrative. what i have in mind is an arc in which he is working on a case that seems to have to do with magic/ghosts, but that ultimately turns out to be a case of corruption and plain police brutality. two things here: i would want him to fuck up spectacularly so that he starts questioning his modus operandi and dedication to vigilantism in general. and it would set up the ground for the introduction of abolitionism and link the story to his early ethical framework.
a retirement arc. jason's proper come back to the crime alley and reintroduction to the land of living (the alley might be a graveyard to bruce but it's a home to jason...) and very importantly, a cast of civilians! leslie is definitely back. i would also love to use dana & denise, and maybe even some pre-crisis characters.
i would fridge bruce. put him out of commission basically, death or not. and i'm not saying batman jay era but actually i am saying batman jay era. (i once again can't find a link to the post explaining my bat jay agenda but if it's of your interest i can elaborate.)
a two-face story. about forgiveness or rather about the fact that it never quite passed. and about willis.
the themes... the motifs... you know me. ouroboros and self-mythologization and the sacrifice and catholicism (probably not in a way you think) and family duty. and politics. here you can also guess what i'm thinking about, and it's a revolutionary abolitionist turn.
and to conclude: big words but i would use jason to bring love back to the gotham lore and batman titles in general. he is a character that has always stood in the centre of both values and challenges that the story faced. if he's not treated with consideration and not taken seriously, nothing in it is.

smut. i think i'm alright at setting tone as well, and i like to think i'm ok at building up tension
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
i'm terrible at dialogue and pacing. set descriptions too, i never know how much detail to put in vs letting readers fill in the blanks. i also don't really know how to describe it but i feel like my fics read less like a book and more like a script. and i get pointlessly, annoyingly wordy to say something that could be said in like two sentences lmao. add to that abuse and misuse of punctuation marks and it really is a mess lmao
18. thoughts on dialogue in another language?
i don't like it generally speaking unless it's a word or two. i've used it once or twice tho dkjfhjkhst. it depends on the Why i guess, but if they're speaking another language together (as in one or more characters understand what's being said) i think it's better to be like 'he switched to dutch' and then use italics to go "Okay, this is what's happening, don't let them catch on." instead of writing the language
19. first fandom you wrote in?
i think it was death note? maybe something for a band before that, i'm not sure tbh
20. favorite fic you've written?
miannach my beloved 🙏 it's not perfect but i had a lot of fun with the magic and the crack taken seriously while still also being a little funny, plus it has one of my fave smut scenes i've written
tagging @bayonettotheheart @brotherdusk @meduseld @c4tto626 @ferindencadash only if u want ofc 🫡

⸺ LESSON 8 ⸺
Nightbringer
Solomon & Barbatos
MC's magic
situation in the Devildom
strange feelings & soup
the 'MC is human' situation
misc
- lesson 7 || lesson 9 || all posts so far -
Hi! It sure has been a while, huh? So sorry about that, I thought that maybe taking a break would make it easier for me to NOT somehow try and connect every single detail to who I want Nightbringer to be, but nope, it just made things worse. Oh well... Also, I decided to stop counting when Solomon wears his human world clothes. While it is weird that he switches that often, I don't think when he wears them has any significant meaning Also also, I know we most likely won't ever see him again, but Adam, I have my eyes on you... General spoiler warning for all of Obey Me Nightbringer, as well as for the original Obey Me
⸺ NIGHTBRINGER ⸺
once freed from the grave and inhabiting Mammon's body, Adam tells us what happened to him, and tells us a little about Nightbringer [8-16; all pics below] -> he also points out that while he does remember Nightbringer's name, he "can't be certain that was his real name" [8-16]. Interesting detail to include
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nightbringer somehow knows that MC has the Ring of Light [8-16] -> fun fact! If you're on the amnesia route, you get a flashback of Solomon briefly explaining what the Ring of Light is to MC. Also this is how I found that I was apparently on the amnesia route while replaying -> upon seeing it, the Gang™ recognizes the ring as Lucifer's, only to immediately gaslight themselves into thinking the opposite. Thank god they're all allergic to braincells
Nightbringer entrusted Adam with a message for MC; "It's not yet time for you to return" [8-18] -> I know that's probably not how they meant it, but timing-wise it kind of sounds like it's not time for MC to return to the Celestial Realm
⸺ SOLOMON & BARBATOS ⸺
disregarding the insult he throws in right after, Barbatos does speak with some respect about Solomon, and suggests that if MC wants to stay in the Devildom, it's best if they talk to Solomon about it [8-1] -> btw not him telling MC that after he teleported Solomon away
⸺ MC'S MAGIC ⸺
MC is able to pull magical power from the brothers and succeeds in opening the gate to the Celestial Realm [8-18] -> sure would be a shame if something like literally opening the gate to the Celestial Realm just like that had no repercussions whatsoever later on, huh :)
Adam says the following [8-18; pic below]. What do you mean by that, Adam???
Tumblr media
⸺ SITUATION IN THE DEVILDOM ⸺
we learn that the relationship between the Devildom and the Celestial Realm were nearly at the breaking point, and while they are still far from stable, at least a war could be avoided [8-1] -> and yet, Simeon talks about good relations between the Devildom and the Celestial Realm back in lesson 6
we also learn that the Demon King suddenly fell into his slumber, meaning all responsibility of governing the Devildom fell onto Diavolo's shoulders. The House of Lords thinks he is too young for that though [8-1] -> apparently the Demon King fell into his slumber right after the brothers got their ranking [8-9; pic below]. Interesting timing to say the least -> this lesson in generall talks a lot about where the Demon King is
Tumblr media
⸺ STRANGE FEELINGS & SOUP ⸺
Simeon greets MC with a "welcome home" [8-4], meaning he on some level somehow knows that MC originally lives at the House of Lamentation
MC's future room has apparently become a regular meet-up spot for the brothers, and Lucifer even takes naps in there [8-9] -> Asmodeus also describes it as "a favorite spot from your past." Interesting wording [8-9; pic below]
Tumblr media
⸺ THE 'MC IS HUMAN' SITUATION ⸺
Diavolo claims that he can "sense something" in MC [8-1]. He himself isn't entirely sure what it is, but I'm guessing it's the angelic qualities that MC inherited from Lilith. In OG season 3 (lesson 52 iirc?), illusion angel!Lucifer also points out that MC possess those qualities
⸺ MISC ⸺
Luke claims that angels can tell when someone lies to them [8-4], yet he still 100% believes that MC is a demon
thinking about it, it is kind of interesting that MC actually wants to stay in the past. We have no option of saying that we want to go back [8-4; pic below]
Tumblr media
MC writes a goodbye letter to the brothers that promptly proceeds to be so irrelevant to the story [8-11]
after MC successfully opened the gates to the Celestial Realm, Adam tells them this [8-18; pic below]. IN THIS WHAT, ADAM.
Tumblr media
there's some talk about finding happiness between Lucifer and Simeon [8-A]
Lucifer is unaware why Simeon is now an archangel [8-A] -> while not stated in the lesson itself, we know that Simeon got demoted because he covered for the brothers
we learn that most past demon kings died in battle [lesson 8 hard mode]
they also bring up that humans live such short lives in comparison to demons and angels [lesson 8 hard mode]

Disney: Psychic s/o with Jafar, Ursula, & Rapunzel
Request: "Hi, Hope your day is going well! Sorry if this sounds a little weird but could I request the same Headcanons about the physic s/o with Jafar, Ursula & Rapunzel?" by @underqualified-human
💗Masterlist | WIP Page
Tumblr media
Ursula
OOOOOOHHHHh
If you didn't catch her interest before, you defiantly did now.
Sure, she's always had that crystal ball and Flotsam and Jetsam, but that was different.
She couldn't see the future for herself without a little help.
You could.
She's more curious as to how you developed this ability, and even more so after hearing that you were born with it.
With you by her side, she'd be unstoppable.
Well, she thought that she would be.
"Angel fish, why not?"
"Nothing good comes of it."
"Well, we just gotta change your perspective, 'cause I can think of a whole lot of good thing that would come of it."
"...Urs- I can't." You sighed, "I promised myself this."
So, this was it. You knew it.
As much as you loved Ursula, she was always looking out for herself.
Dating someone who had psychic powers but didn't use them when she wanted them to? Instant breakup.
You were already ramping yourself up for her harsh words and for your lonely swim home.
"I think that I get it." Ursula shrugged, "Kind of." Ursula remembers the not-so-fond days of Morgana's and her competitions over potions and spells to impress her mother. It almost killed her love for magic. Almost. "Now, tell Flotsam and Jetsam to get going. Triton isn't going to stay out in the open forever!"
Tumblr media
Jafar
Very curious as to how your psychic abilities work.
Mostly for his benefit, but also as someone interested in sorcery.
Get ready for some questions, experiments, and tests.
Definitely wants to test the limits of your power.
Pre and post genie Jafar utilize your powers.
He had all of these plans for you.
With his sorcery and your Psychic ability, you'd be unstoppable.
"Well, uh, I don't really use it."
What?
"You-" Jafar paused, "You don't use it??!"
"Yeah. I've had some really bad visions and I an afraid to get more of those."
He simply can not comprehend why you don't utilize this amazing power.
Until he caught you one night, sobbing and shaking over a vision that he finally sort of understood why you found your power a curse.
Since then, he did not push as hard for you to use your psychic abilities.
Well, as much.
Jafar was still power hungry, so he very much so pestered you about using your ability.
The only thing that changed was that when you said no, he did less bitching, moaning, and complaining, which you appreciated.
Tumblr media
Rapunzel
Very happy to not be the only one with some type of supernatural ability, even if she currently does not have that ability.
You guys sometimes playfully fight over who has that cooler ability.
Rapunzel is dead set on that you have the cooler ability.
She asks questions about how it works and what it feels like.
But, she is quickly sadden when you tell her the immense anxiety you feel with every bad vision you get.
Rapunzel may have had a bad experience using her power, but in general, her healing powers are a good thing.
And Rapunzel views them as so.
So, she can't imagine what it must be like to have this ability but for it to cause you so much trumoil and pain.
SUPPORTIVE AF
Rapunzel is there whenever you need her to be, always ready to take you away and distract you if needed.
"Need a hug?"
"Why don't we talk a stroll around the castle?
"I think that there are some cookies in the kitchen. I can grab us some."
You appreciate it, of course, especially since Rapunzel is always down to have the big feelings talk about it.
"How are you doing?" Rapunzel asked, taking your hand in hers.
"....Better." You sighed, "Or at least better than before."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Rapunzel asked. "I mean, you don't have to, if you don't want to."
"....yea, kind of." You said, "Is that okay?"
"Of course, it is. I'm always here for you."

Hiii! I liked your post on Moondancer. Do you have some AU based on this idea? Maybe? Please????
Well, story goes like this: ponies live pretty long, especially those who use a lot of magic. Be it direct application or study. Thus having children with reletively big age gaps is normal.
So by the time Twilight Velvet and Night Light had fraternal triplets Twilight Sparkle, Starlight Glimmer and Moon Dancer (which was a real surprise - alive, healthy triplets are an extremely rare occurance in horses in general), they already had an adult son named Shining Armor. Shining was a very smart, capable, responsible and gentlecolt in general but alas had like zero interest in magic outside of what was necessary for his duties as a leader of the Royal Guard. So as you might have guessed their parents were overjoyed when it turned out that fillies are into magic and such.
Speaking of Shining: he was also married to a pegasus mare called Sky Lulaby {because I don't like Cadance, but in this house we respect folks who like her, thus let's say it's stil Cadance, only she has never ascended to alicornhood in this universe, her color scheme is less ugly and she never babyset Twilight either. Otherwise, I'm sure, Twilight would have had descent peop...I mean pony skills then, and we all know this is not the case}.
So our girls were very close as fillies. Since their parents used to study an ancient structure (its' magical properties in case of dad and whatever we call pony analogy of anthropology in mom's case) from before Current Era, and they basically lived near the site. As you might have guessed there weren't many kids of their age around.
Later, their family moved to Canterlot. Their parents became professors at the Royal Canterlot University and our fillies were accepted into Queen Celetia's School For Gifted Unicorns.
At first everything went great. Twilight, Starlight Glimmer and Moon Dancer {we shall call them Twi, Glim and Moony from now on for simplicity sake} made a lot of friends, school was just awesome. In the begining our young unicorns struggled very much with Magical Arts as they were homeschool and only knew spells with practical use and not much theory behind them, but as weeks went by they've gotten better. Spectacularly so.
Around the end of their first school year, professors from the univercity came to test foals for magic potential. Strandard procedure, nothing out of ordinary. Moon Dancer did great - her potential was bigger than most of her peers. Starlight Glimmer manager to beat her. But then professors went to test Twilight...
And the school exploded.
Literally.
Oops.
High Queen Celestia was immediately notified. And she came to check herself. Results were stunning: not only Twilight's potential was far greater than of her sisters' or anyone her age or any age (minus High Queen herself of course), it was something never seen before.
But such power requires tight control so Celestia decided that she needs to step in (blow dust from her teaching skills) and finally take another pupil after a long break. Though, High Queen or not, Celestia still went and asked if Twilight's parents mind.
They didn't but were concerned over moving out at such an early age. Celestia agreed to wait at least until filly will be what is our analogue of highschooler.
Velvet and Night Light were shocked. Twilight herself was very excited. So were Glim and Moony. Shining was amused, to say the least, but he was very proud of his little sisters.
Yet, one fo the professors called Twi's parents with certain concerns over their daughters' development - further tests showed that Twi is a patterner {pony analogue of an autistic person}. The whole situation also meant that Twi will have to go to the different classes that will tailored with her specific needs in mind.
{My headcannon is that ponies being extremely social creatures try to accomodate their ND & disabled folk the best way possible and not only at this "royal" level but in general}.
Time went by and little by little Glim and Moony started to get jealous of their sister. At first they tried to fight these feelings.
"Sure Twi needs more attention, she's patterner, we should help her adjust and help with things she is not very good with, right? Like, she helps us with homework..."
"She is our sister, we should be proud of her..."
"What would mom say if she finds out we think bad of her..."
Twilight on the other hoof, also tried to do her best at being a good sister.
But as it often happens, sisters started to slowly drift apart. Due to differences in schedules they saw Twi less and less.
Little jealousy turned big and with time evolved into frustrated resentment. It's hard to compare to a pony whose special interest and life passion is magic and whose special talent is magic and who is also exceptionally smart. And certainly no-one will take constantly feeling like a failure all the time well.
Sure it took time but special treatment went into Twi's head. She was really excellent. Probably too much for her own good.
Her confidence evolved into arrogance and then into a smug feeling of superiority. And if at first she at least tried to hide this attitude aroundher relatives, somewhere around high school she finally dropped all pretence. Approximately, at was the same time she was taken in by Celestia. Eventually she started to think of High Queen as of her mother and her contact with her birth family ceased into almost nothing. Like, she still would send them holiday cards. But pretty much this was it.
Glim turned her resenment and frustration into a fuel for a truly raging fire. She decided - buck this Twilight Sparkle and her smugness! She will be better than her! This mare sucks at pony interaction? Good! That's where she will go! Thus Glim did all she could to get into Diplomacy Facility of the Canterlot Univercity. The further from Twilight, the better! Passed her exams with flying colours and never looked back. Okay, not really, since Glim had always been very much of daddy's filly. But instead of a diplomat she became a known socialite, who is traveling around the world, promoting Equestrian values in a peaceful way, and sends her family lavish gifts and mile-long letters. Oh, also her speciality? Illusion Magic. Almost the only type of magic Twi never could quite grasp.
Why of course Starlight Glimmer can't be a spy! It would be just silly, right? Pone, Agent Glimmer Pone.
Moony, on the other hoof, fell into a deep depression yet studied like a mad mare for her degree. Her friends kept her afloat as much as they could but their concerns over her health grew. Her mother, however, noticed at something is wrong. And asked Sunburst who was in the same class as her. Sunburst told Moony's friends. And after Minuette, Twinkleshine and Lemon Hearts finally spilled the beans, older mare firmly decided that her filly needs to see a specialist.
Specialist suggested to get away from a stressful sittuation. Vacation sure should help. They heard, her sister is a famous traveller, so why not to take an academic vacation for a year and visit her?
But before any of this could have being brought into making, Moony run into Twi by an accident.
They were amused to see each other.
At first.
But word by word conversation turned into an argument. And ended in a magical confrontation. Moon Dancer was no match for her sister sadly.
Wait, where did this energy shield came from?!
Fortunately for Moony, Shining Armor happened to be in the area. He heard sounds of a fight and went to check. Unfortunately for Twi, it also meant that shovel is a great weapon went used at the right moment.
Shining was terrified: one of his sisters essentially tried to kill another in cold blood. How is he going to explain this to their mother?
Or to Celestia... And High Queen was livid when she learned about the incident.
So yeah, and that's how Twilight went to Poniville - exile was better than time in prison.

Throwing my hat into the ring regarding the Black Garden stuff, by way of the Scatter Signal lore tab. It seems to be referring to the Black Heart, but what I'm most interested in is the second line. "Minds orbit its gravity, to bridge communion with a Voice, to move from parallel to entanglement." We know the Vex are interested in the Veil, and the Sol Divisive with the Darkness especially. To me at least, this line implies that they're trying to become one with either the Witness, or the Darkness. It's just a guess, but if the Vex know that Riven or Ahamkhara could get them through the portal, they may be looking for a way. I can't connect it, but I also feel I should mention that when Osiris made the Sundial, its core "whispered" and he even states “You know I can’t make another bargain like this one.” to Sagira when she asks where this will end for him.
Just made a post with some stuff about all of this, including about Scatter Signal!
The entirety of the Scatter Signal message is so bizarrely worded that it could be interpreted in so many ways. I've seen the possibility that it might refer to the Sundial, specifically the line "They dream of a dark core, contained within a timeless structure." The Sundial literally has a dark core contained in a timeless structure and we still don't know what this dark core is. I never believed it to be an Ahamkara piece as I think it's far closer related to Darkness (the core was eating Light, and "whispers" are a common thing with Darkness: think of how the Veiled statues whisper in Pyramids or how Nezarec relics whispered (he is also referred to as a "whispering Nightmare" by one of the other disciples)), but without any proof for any of the theories, it could be anything.
One thing I can add is that there's a dialogue this season between Osiris and Riven that I believe disproves the Ahamkara theory, at least with how I'm reading it. Riven tells Osiris:
Isn't it unfortunate your City hunted down all of my kind, Osiris? You might have wished for Saint-14's return from the Forest.
If the Sundial core is the Ahamkara bone, then he did wish for Saint's return from the Forest. So either Riven is massively misinformed about this or the Sundial core is not Ahamkara. Osiris also very much replies in a way that makes it sound like he did not even consider dabbling in wishing magic because of the price Saint would possibly have to pay. Another point is that if Osiris wished for Saint through an Ahamkara-powered Sundial, then he would have succeeded. But he didn't. The Sundial did not work for him. It worked for us, because Saint and the Young Wolf are connected through a loop, a perfect paradox. That is the only reason why Saint was saved. Obviously we used Osiris' Sundial to achieve this and it could not have been done otherwise, but if it had been powered by an Ahamkara, it would've simply worked for Osiris. But either way, given that Riven teases him about how he could've just used an Ahamkara, it seems to imply that he didn't. Because if he did, then Riven would've possibly just congratulated him or teased him about he messed with wishing magic.
This is a weird line in general because, as Osiris points out, Riven's bait is too obvious here. It's also a bait for a wish that serves no purpose; Saint is already back. Even if Osiris was baited into thinking something rash, there's nothing to be done because Saint returned over 3 years ago. I feel like if Riven truly wanted to mess with Osiris, she would have gone for the more recent loss; Sagira. Who is not returned and cannot be returned with conventional measures that anyone knows about. Essentially, there is nothing that can bring back a Ghost, perhaps not even an Ahamkara, but it would be a more tempting line of thought.
The way I'm reading Scatter Signal right now is that someone is informing us about what the Vex want or what they're trying to do. I believe it refers to the Black Garden and something they're trying to achieve in there in order to finally learn how to play on an even playing field with the rest of us; understanding paracausality. Even though not all Vex agree on everything, they all do agree that they need to understand paracausality and the only way to that understanding is in our system. Therefore, Sol is Salvation.
I am also thinking deeply about what they could possibly be doing with the Ahamkara and if, perhaps, they are also learning how to bargain with them and if they are also somehow trying to use them to achieve their goal with paracausality or enter the portal with us. And I am thinking, very deeply and with concern, about what price we will pay for making this wish to enter the portal. What if the Vex are also playing with the Ahamkara simultaneously with us, and if the price to this bargain to enter the portal is that Vex will learn paracausality as a consequence.
So it's on us to decide if this is a price worth paying and we know, that whatever the price is, we will accept it. We really don't have a choice. So we can either hope that Riven will be satisfied with us saving her eggs and essentially reviving her species and will therefore not require the wish to backfire on us horrifically or... She won't be. And as all Ahamkara, there will be a consequence. And for what we're asking, that consequence has to be big.
Also remember, the wish was made by Savathun. Savathun knew ahead of time that the universe will need this wish to follow the Witness. And she must've known that the consequence will be big. So she left it to us and conveniently skedaddled away. All in all, I don't believe this is as simple as us saving Riven's eggs and Riven flinging us into the portal. Nothing is ever simple with Ahamkara and definitely not with the Vex.

Am I the only one that feels that current ace is kind of lacking? Yes I get that twst is supposed to focus on dorm leaders and stuff but it feels like he keeps getting pushed to the side despite being one of the first main characters we actually meet. I wish there was something interesting going for him, like I'm well aware that the traitor theory has been proven wrong multiple times yet I still cling onto it because its one of the few ways he can be significant anymore. In general I just want more ace content plus his unique magic that hopefully comes out in book six, don't take this too literally as my wording my come off as wrong but hopefully you understand what I mean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I definitely feel like Ace hasn’t been getting a lot of screen time in the main story since the prologue and episode 1, but I think it mostly makes sense. Each proceeding episode has to make way for new characters to play a part, so Ace kind of falls to the wayside with Deuce.
The two basically share the same amount of screen time following episode 1 (right down to their general lack of presence in both 4 and 6), with the big exception being 5; of the duo, Deuce takes center stage in the Pomefiore section due to his developing friendship with Epel, as well as his developing sense of self identity and unique magic. It kind of balances out Deuce taking a backseat to Ace in episode 1…? (Sort of???) Cuz I definitely felt like Ace was more involved than Deuce when it came to inciting rebellion against Riddle. I think maybe the perception of Ace not feeling important as of late is because the last time he was largely relevant was allllll the way back in the beginning of the main story.
That being said, I wonder if Ruler of the Abyss (episode 7) will have Ace getting his unique magic 🤔 since it’s already dealing with a bunch of hard-hitting story beats like Malleus’s impending dread of being abandoned by the people he cares for, Lilia’s departure, Yuu returning home, Grim’s realization that he will soon be alone (plus his potential OB). It’d be difficult for the devs to also squeeze in an arc about Ace feeling inferior to Deuce and coming to grips with what makes himself special… but hey, I still have my fingers crossed! 🤞 It’d be a real treat if we got to see all of Diasomnia’s UM reveals as well as Ace’s as the cherry on top! I think it could be done if 7 was like… super long or just really REALLY well written. Admittedly though, I would find this pacing a little weird, as we’d go from Deuce unlocking his UM in 5 to no progression of Ace’s reaction in 6 to suddenly addressing it in 7; you’d think it would flow more coherently if Deuce and Ace got their UMs in consecutive episodes (instead it was Deuce, then Epel), but I guess adding two extra bodies to the already bulky cast of 6 would’ve been too much 💦.
On the topic of Ace traitor theory 😅 I’m honestly shocked that it’s still around?? It’s not something I’ve ever really gotten behind, as I feel like a lot of the points brought up for it are very vague (like… “His last name is Trappola instead of Heart! He could be setting a trap!” and, “He has an older brother that used to be in Heartslabyul! Maybe Ace wants to get revenge for his brother.”). A fun idea for sure, but I don’t think I’ve seen a really solid explanation for why Ace would feasibly betray his friends in canon.
In spite of how bratty and callous he can be, I do believe Ace genuinely cares for his friends when it comes down to it and wouldn’t go out of his way to intentionally harm them. This is the same dude who took a long and extremely tedious route from the Queendom of Roses all the way back to Sage’s Isle just to make sure Yuu and Grim were okay over winter break, the same guy who was so relieved when Yuu and Grim safely returned to NRC campus.
I think there’s still ways for Ace to be a significant force in the main story (without him necessarily turning traitor), but it largely depends on how episode 7 continues to play from hereon out and what elements it chooses to focus on. It can be difficult to balance all of it, so I wouldn’t blame the devs if they decided to hold off on adding Ace into the episode 7 pot of plot points. If not in episode 7, there’s always the possibility for new main story content released afterwards to talk about Ace’s character (as well as new event stories and card vignettes where he will probably feature).
