Some more stuff I drew a while ago. My take on the combos of different TOH covens with the abomination coven. I'm thinking of maybe doing more combos when I have time. Also maybe redoing the abomination x healing. Anyways. Art tips are more than welcome.

slides you my oc who i made to ship with steve
Marlow or Marlie! They are a hexside graduate who joins the potions coven after having to take over her mother's shop and tavern.
She used to be on the bard track, and had a passion for singing, but a series of misfortunes and disapproval for her mother led her to change tracks her senior year. She finally joins the coven when her mother falls ill and can no longer run the shop. With the potions sigil taking away much of her power and energy (because potion making doesn't truly require magic), she has lost her singing voice and is left more softspoken than she ever was before. This makes it hard for her to run the tavern without trouble because she cannot speak up for herself. After he saves her from a customer who tries following her home to attack her, Steve offers to walk Marlie home after she closes the shop and tavern. It doesn't interrupt his patrol route, and Steve is more than happy to help townsfolk in need. It's on these walks where they get to know each other better!

Darius absolutely hating that he accidentally started a rebellion with a bunch of band geeks is the plot line I didn’t know I needed. Like him and Raine? Comedic icons.

Micro Writing Notes: Raine and Hunter
I truly love writing their friendship, and I think I had mentioned in a recent ask that they will have some more scenes together in Act 3.
As I plot the next chapter I am listening to a few songs ... also revisiting some from older chapters.
I recently settled on "Free Will" by Rush, which was kind of a pivotal scene in their relationship.
The lyrics are so very Hunter's life that it makes me nostalgic for the earlier chapters when I was building their earlier interactions through flashbacks. Also, I kind of think Hunter would nail the energy of Lee's singing voice.
Ugh.
Now I know it's just a matter of time before my insta-play on Apple Music directs me to a T*d N*gent song. BARF.

[IMAGE ID: three rectangular flags with eleven horizontal stripes each. most of them are evenly-sized and straight, save for the second and tenth stripes, which are thinner and wavy. the colors of the stripes are as follows: pastel pink, dull red, light pink, bright red, medium red, and dark red. the middle stripe seems to extend into a jagged shape, going upwards and downwards. there is a pink shape in the middle, following the jagged shape's lines. the second flag has the bard coven sigil in the center. the sigil is a red lyre. END ID.]

Going back to my idea/headcannon that Raine and Adrian hate each other, I'd like to elaborate and say that I think in general, illusionists and bards actually get along quite well.
Both of the covens are focused on performance and wowing a crowd with musical talent or theater talent.
They're also the only two that focus on the arts so they complement each other quite well.
Hell, I'd also say that illusionists and bards assist each other even, with illusionists providing the visual effects and actors and bards supplying music to add to scenes to put a full on show on the Boiling Isles.
Music is pretty fundamental to understanding the tone of a scene, with suspenseful music, straight up sounding legitimately terrifying, to sad, melancholy, (and more).
Visuals are well...visuals the create the setting, characters for the audience to relate to, the overall story and dare I say it, the drama.
That being said, Raine and Adrian can see eye to eye on certain things related to fine art/ theater like good storytelling, creating compelling scenes, characterization, and how music sets the tone for scenes, yet they despise each other.
They could put on a show together if they wanted/really committed to it. However they'd never be able to cooperate, with Raine getting fed up with Graye's attention-whore personality and being a perfectionist with his illusions. (Not to mention his vague instructions).
Graye would be so annoyed over how Raine constantly flubs their lines, how they clam up in front of a crowd, or at worst run off the dang stage!
So basically TDLR: Illusionists and bards get along well with each other due to appreciation for the arts, but the Covenheads themselves just can't stand each other.
I swear, these two should've interacted at least ONCE on screen, we were robbed! It'd be so entertaining to see.

I don't know how old the post was, but I like the idea of the construction and illusion covens having a small philosophy differences that leads them to butting heads.
With this in mind I now like to think that Mason and Adrian just hate each other because of all that.
I already headcannon that Adrian and Raine hate each other because of how different they are with performances and personality, but to add Mason to the mix here is really funny to me for some reason.
Adrian just has a lot of enemies. Raine, Gus, and now Mason lol.
I hadn't thought about bards in that equation yet!
So, I would think that Bards and Illusionists usually get along just fine, because they are both the creative type and often work together.
Usually. Because yes, Raine and Adrian can't stand each other.
Now, talking about Bard and Construction Magic, I'd say there is a bit more respect between those covens:
Playing an instrument is more physical than casting illusions and the effort and training needed is more apparent to a construction witch.
And of course, instruments need to be constructed, so bards are more likely to gain an appreciation for good craftsmanship.
But there are definitely also some bards that are elitist jerks, and some construction witches that see bards as weaklings.
Back to Adrian and Mason, I'd headcanon that the reason they don't get along is not because of their covens "rivalvry". Mason has no patience for such nonsense.
Mason dislikes Adrian because the latter is a terrible leader, and should never have been given the title of head witch. Mason can't stand incompetence.
Adrian on the other hand is fully on board with the whole rivalry between their covens and might even stoke the flames a bit if he can.
