Comm - Omni-Gains (Alien TF/TG)

This week's comms include one by @JohnDrawFatties, with an appearance by my dear friend and frequent collaborator @PhantomTFLover! Always interested in exploring the intricacies and possibilities of Omnitrix-based powers, we find ourselves on the receiving end of a transformation of some that alter our bodies in more ways than just changing their basic DNA. No, it seems an excess of energy also multiplies the mass that's packed onto our otherwise pretty physically capable forms. Hopefully our new alien abilities aren't too heavily impacted by this large of a development...

Species: Empfrore Homeplanet: Brumjökull Life-Span: 60-70 Habitat: Tundra Diet: Piscivore Breeding: Sexual Reproduction Sexual Dimorphism: Empfrore look mostly similar to one another, but the men tend to have longer/larger beaks. Children can be hard to tell, as it takes till their teen years for their full beak size to grow in. Behaviour/Bio: Despite their cute appearances, Empfrore actually come from quite the hostile world. Full of predators, nasty weather, and generally not the best vacation spot for most, and so while the species is known to be kind, cuddly and loving, they are far more realistic and logical than many would guess when first seeing them. When they feel like they’re in danger, they will act without a second thought, running and hiding a natural instinct to them. They’re not necessarily a species that is always scared or tense, just more so they’re so use to living in such a place that it’s natural for them to be on the move always, and being resourceful. This does also lead to a hoarding habit for them, collecting food, trinkets, tools and anything they deem useful, nesting with it. They are also very family oriented, living in groups and find it easy to communicate with each other, leading to them being quite friendly to other alien races as long as you show you aren’t a threat. Their view on tragedies can also seem off putting to most, as they seem to get over destruction and death pretty quickly. Don’t get them wrong, it’s sad to go through such things, but they have to follow the hustle and bustle and don’t live in the moment. Always looking towards the future and how they can live another day. So they can seem rather forward and out there with their opinions about such topics, but due to their friendly nature they are strange to have any conversation with. Abilities: Ice Trail - As their main ability, they are able to create a path/slide of ice under them that they slip and slide across with, that is also decently sturdy. They can use it to go up, down, side to side, and works with most surfaces, even water. They can even create a spiral effect going upwards if they just spin in a circle. Ice Beak - Their beak is entirely made of ice, and is decently sharp, mostly used to catch food, but can damage foes in a fight. They can also crack it open to reveal the inside of their mouth, allowing them to eat food when feeling safe. And similar to their ice trail power, their beaks can generatore some ice when tapping it on something, like freezing someone’s foot when dashing by. Cold Resistance - Because of the harsh environment they live in, they evolved to resist very cold climates, whether that be deep under arctic waters, or a thick blizzard. Winter is basically just home for them, and they never feel bothered by it. Swimming - Despite their body shape, they’re natural swimmers too. Perhaps not the fastest, but they are agile and good at reflexes. Their ice powers also work under water, and can be used alongside their swimming. Night Vision - Since they’re used to living in an arctic environment, the dark comes naturally with them. They’ve developed a night vision gaze to help them late at night, deep in dark waters, or during snow storms to find their way around. Weaknesses: They do not do well in hot temperatures or around fire, their thick blubber bodies make them struggle in the heat, or can melt their ice. Without their ice, they aren’t that fast on their own when on land. They’re not entirely designed to attack, more so do chip damage, distract or flee. While they can live outside of their environment for a while, they do need to refresh themselves with cold air, ice and sometimes water from time to time.

OHHHH, Not to hijack an ask again but this reminded me of these doodles I did a while back that I forgot to post on tumblr (did these like literally a week or two before Star Wars overtook my Ben 10 hyperfixation completely).

Obviously we have Ben as a couple of Star Wars aliens at the top. Then my friend asked for Ben as a rancour, but then I remembered the whole sapient thing and wasn’t sure wether a rancour would be sapient enough to qualify as an omnitrix DNA sample so I switched out the omnitrix for the nemetrix instead.

I have a question for those of you who follow me, would it be ok if I introduced some alien races from Marvel, DC and others into my God of War AU?

Here's what may very well be in my opinion one of the most interesting pieces of "What Could Have Been" or "cancelled media" that I think could've actually been awesome. So here's everything that I was able to gather on it and it was a looooooooooot.

Originally back in 2011/12, Dwayne McDuffie conceived of and was looking to develop a Gwen and Charmcaster spin-off series which he mapped out a fair amount of it and actually planned it out through-and-through. But what ended up happening to throw it out the window was as simple as can be — Dwayne McDuffie died. Therefore it ended up getting replaced with the still polarizing Omniverse.

So let's begin, shall we:

The tentative title for the series or rather idea was "Where The Magic Happens", named after the Ultimate Alien episode of the same name. Ledgerdomain was to be one of the main primary locations in the spinoff.

It was to take place a week after the events of UA's series finale and pick up Charmcaster's storyline from where it left off with the episode "Couples Retreat". Dwayne McDuffie liked both characters so much that he thought the two could hold their own show together.

Ashley Johnson and Kari Wahlgren were obviously gonna reprise their roles but Gwen would've had a different look from time to time. As in sometimes she would be in her AF look and other times she would be in her UA look.

The premise was essentially gonna be this:

Gwen and Charmcaster were gonna become unlikely and hesitant allies who team up to protect Ledgerdomain and fight crime with Gwen deciding to use her powers to help others full on and Charmcaster doing whatever it can to save her home.

A main plot point would've been Gwen developing a type of PTSD due to several things she's been through throughout the previous three shows, especially this scene from the OG episode "The Return". Being crushed by a tower as a child is giving her reoccurring nightmares that begin affecting her life only for Charmcaster to help her through it seeing as she owes it to her after "Where The Magic Happens" and "Couples Retreat".

On top of that, it would've also explained why the events of the OG Ben 10 happened coincidentally during the summer road trip as a sort of crawling out of the woodwork.

One thing that was to be featured in this series were easter eggs and references to the events of other media that heavily implied a shared universe. For example, in-passing they were to bring up the T-Rex from Isla Sornia Site-B rampaging through San Diego back in the late 90s. Sound familiar?

Another thing is it's still unclear as to whether or not Ben would've appeared in the show as either a cameo or a full on appearance in an episode. So that's still up in the air.

As far as I can tell, a three part pilot was written by McDuffie along with a series bible as he pictured the show running for five seasons but so far nothing has been released. Understandably.

An interesting thing here is there was gonna be a flashback episode that would've been set after the events of "Secret Of The Omnitrix" where Charmcaster kidnaps Gwen from her home for one final confrontation.

Another juicy tidbit would've been a reoccurring villain that ultimately becomes the main antagonist as the show progressed - in this case, it's a pastor who develops dangerously unstable telekinetic powers after surviving a plane crash. McDuffie wanted Clancy Brown to voice him.

Other actors that McDuffie wanted for the show were Michael Jai White, John Lithgow, John Kassir, Geno Segers, Mae Whitman, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Morena Baccarin, Greg Abbey, Powers Boothe and Will Friedle. Cool.

One thing that was to play a major role was a large book that Charmcaster's written during her time in Ledgerdomain that chronicled the history of magic in the world as well as how the numerous alien races play a part in its creation.

Unfortunately here's the last piece of information that is available or I can find on this cancelled spinoff and it's a good one: Dwayne McDuffie wanted to have comic book-inspired title cards for the episode and he was eyeing Tim Jacobus as the artist to design them.

So yeah this would end up being replaced by the still very polarizing Ben 10: Omniverse and top it off, McDuffie passed away.

But it's still interesting nonetheless. Would any of you have loved to have seen this show.

Yang: You heard me loud and clear! You and Ruby's kiddie cartoons can't compare to us cowboys, who can lasso up any one of them aliens of yours if'n I damn well pleased! Assumin' they're real, a'course.

Weiss: NO, YOU COULDN'T! Don't you realize how astronomically insane the power scaling in the series is?! And you're telling me a spaghetti western can go against Ben 10, who averages at a SOLAR LEVEL?!

Yang: No idea what you're talking about with pasta, but solar level is rookie stuff since most cowboys-

Weiss: "Ride into the sun on their trusty steed". Yeah, yeah, you already used that argument, Xiao Long. It's just plain false.

Yang: Dangit, Weiss, I'm tellin' ya it's true! I saw it with my own eyes!

Weiss: THROUGH A MOVIE!

Yang: Well, it's based on a real thing, even if the stories are made up! They wouldn't put that in if it wasn't darn possible, or it wouldn't be a western! It'd be one of your dumb sci-fi things!

Weiss: IT-! (Exhales) You know what? Fine. Let's say, for the sake of our argument, (Holding burp) Clint Eastwood is solar level.

Yang: Actually, I don't think I've ever seen Clint Eastwood goin' off to the sunset-

Weiss: ANY COWBOY! Okay?! Now, listen to me, Yang, because I am losing my goddamn mind here. There's this alien, Alien X, okay? They are a celestial-sapien, a race of beings that can control EVERYTHING with a mere thought! Are you with me so far?

Yang: Yeah, I guess.

Weiss: Okay, so, in the fourth episode of Omniverse, there's this device that destroys the universe. And guess what? Alien X not only survives, but they are able to RECREATE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE with a mere thought!

Yang: Oh, wow!

Weiss: Yeah! So you understand that the sun is only a small part of the universe. Hell, we don't even know how big our own universe is, so that is a lot more than the sun. This would make Alien X AT LEAST universal level!

Yang: Sounds about right.

Weiss: SO, if we've now established (Winces) Clint Eastwood, and all cowboys as SOLAR LEVEL then, and I can't believe I have to say this, CLINT EASTWOOD CANNOT BEAT ALIEN X!

Yang: ...

Weiss: Yeah. What do you have to say about that?

Yang: ...Well, there's this one who galloped into the stars-

Weiss: GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Blake: ...Why am I so... smitten by this? I don't even know who Clintswood X is!
