ONCE MORE, we delve into the plane of Thunder Junction, in our attempt to figuring out what each plane each card is from.
Last time we finished all the monocolour cards, and you can find all of those here. I'll also been including a villainy score for Oko's gang, to see how much they count as villains... and in retrospect wish I'd done that for all the legends, since this is a VILLAIN set. Call that a project for another day...
For now though, let us enter into the wild, wild world of...
MULTICOLOUR
Tumblr media
We open off with a big one- Akul the Unrepentant! The main antagonist of the story, a PERFECT black-hat western villain- he is fierce and evil and SMART but also you can bait him with the right words and at the end of the day he's just a right bastard with a gun. An honestly pitch-perfect villain for a villain set.
The way his scorpion mandibles make a cowboy hat silhouette, his gun-stinger tail and his fire breathing claws, he is a perfect example of what a Scorpion Dragon is and how strongly it fits the aesthetic of the plane.
But we've been told all the Scorpion Dragons are from Gastal, an obscure plane from Urza's Planeswalker novel, so they're from Gastal. I hope we go there one day and learn what that plane is like beyond its very sparse appearance elsewhere.
Tumblr media
Annie Flash! Our first member of Oko's gang to rob Akul! She's Atiin so from the Atiin Plane, and is the only Atiin that shows up in story. We learn from her stories that her people are still out there wandering, while some settled in Thunder Junction.
Among them her nephew, who Akul afflicted with tuberculosis with his stinger (it's some kind of dark curse but given how it is described it's absolutely TB, a fitting disease for the time period). He left to join his people, because staying in bed all day half asleep from medicine is worse than suffering while awake.
At any rate, she's retired to protect the town she's ended up in... and is threatened by Oko into helping take down Akul. On the villainy scale she is a fierce 0/10. I wish she'd just shot Oko in the head.
Tumblr media
Annie Joins Up is one of a cycle- all of the major members of Oko's gaing gets little pieces like this. They're clearly part of one singular mural but we haven't been shown it and it makes me sad.
Given the context, I'm counting these cards as Thunder Junction original.
Tumblr media
A strange, fascinating card, it's a sherrif's sterling silver star, radiating various creature spirits out of it. Given the form of magic at play I'm gonna say this is from Alara, since it resembles the Nacatl totem magic.
Tumblr media
Hellspur Mercenaries holding, unfortunately, YOU at knifepoint. Good luck friend cause I'm out of here.
... okay I'll stay long enough to say it again; Hellspurs threw away all ties to their home planes to become dyed in the wool magma mutants. They're from Thunder Junction now. The predominance of glowing purple and dyed hair could imply these individuals are from Kylem, but I'm sticking to my thunder-guns here.
Tumblr media
This is the only real indication that the cactus folk are "new" to the plane, despite having lived here for generations as non-sentient cacti. I don't really like this, but whatever. Native to Thunder Junction.
Tumblr media
The Sterling Company's shiny leader, in the vampiric flesh. Given his style he's definitely from New Capenna. He doesn't show up in the story at all, but his presence is felt by the colonizing cops that he employs.
Tumblr media
Big ol' Bonny Pall is our distaff counterpart to Paul Bunyan, the American lumberjack of old west mythology. She's even got a massive blue ox to help her out!
She's one of the giants from Eldraine, and if I could remember where I saw blue oxen on that plane I'd tell you to confirm it.
Tumblr media
Everyone's favorite goblin-monkey, Breeches! A secondary member of Oko's gang, though in truth his loyalties lie with his captain, Vraska. His main goal in the story is blowing things up- as is his want- and showing us that he has more self control than Gisa does.
As far as villainy goes he's a soft 2/10. Nothing he does is inherently evil, the pirates of Ixalan (his home plane) are categorically the nicest faction present there, and ultimately he's only with Oko to help Vraska betray him.
Tumblr media
Bruse Tarl! There's absolutely no reason he should be here in the villain set, but also he's a cattle rancher who is a fan favorite on a plane where ox and cattle are well known an aesthetic so of course he's here from Zendikar, having finally found some beasties that listen to him.
Fun fact; the four visible livestock on the card include Pillarfield Ox, Ox of Agonas, Vigor, and Bartered Cow. These cards won't add to the total, but are here and that's cool.
Also fun fact: according to the card crafting stories, this card was originally Strongarm from Lorwyn/Shadowmoor! Neat!
Tumblr media
A cactus with a gun! Native to the plane, and my friend.
Tumblr media
Gryff's are the wonderfully unique heron-hippogryffs of Innistrad, so this beautiful bird-beast is from there.
Tumblr media
Who????? Who are you???? You have human hands but are otherwise completely just a bear man??? The only plane where ANYTHING like this even remotely exists is fucking Blobavia, in the Un-iverse? Who are you??? Why is there no legend article for this fucking set?!?!?
I have no fucking clue where this guy could be from, but the flavor text leans me towards Arcavios. This is some random bear druid man from Quandrix House.
Tumblr media
Eriette, the Beguiler! She's one of the secondary members of Oko's gang, despite being ostensibly the first one recruited (or at least the first recruited on screen, by Jace-as-Ashiok). She is of course from Eldraine, and even has beef with Kellan, the newest member of the gang.
Beef that she puts aside! For the mission! Because her evil plan on Eldraine was "I will treat PTSD from the invasion by offering the chance to go to sleep forever, and will coincidentally get to rule the plane" which is like, not even THAT evil? It's misguided and kinda fucked up but not like, EVIL evil? And despite anger at seeing the DIRECT guy responsible for her defeat, she still buries the hatchet. This is like, a 1/10 on the evil scale.
Also there is the slightest, slightest implication she might have poisoned Oko at the end of the story. If she did she gets a "Nahiri did nothing wrong" modifier.
Tumblr media
This delightfully cheery grandma is from Zendikar, and is doing what she does best: climbing stuff! She's a new character as far as I can tell so we know nothing about her otherwise, but she's survived the Eldrazi and the Phyrexians and is still smiling so she's okay in my book.
Notably, she does get some fun flavor text on other cards.
Tumblr media
The flavor text feels at odds with the vibe of what formring a posse would be- normally this sort of gearing up of the locals would be to fight AGAINST the Sterlings coming in and taking the entire plane, but I digress.
The specific sort of decorations of the town and the people involved feel Atiin to me, but I think I've gotta give this to Thunder Junction proper.
Tumblr media
Ghired is a fascinating character to me, because he's shown up before and despite doing so still has no real character and has not contributed to any of the stories he's in. Which is a shame because he's one of the best concepts they've ever come up with, from the best plane they've ever made; he's someone on Ravnica who left one Guild to join another!
This Selesnyan shaman turned to the Gruul Clans after witnessing Illharg, the biggest of the big pigs, rise from the primal earth of the plane! Despite joining the Gruul he still has a Selesnyan connection to wildlife, and on a fully untamed plane like Thunder Junction he is THRIVING. It's so cool! He should do stuff!
Tumblr media
It's time for a controversial legendary! It's the Gitrog monster, freshly done being Thalia's steed during the Phyrexian Invasion. He's bullfrogged his way tot Thunder Junction, and now people want to turn this one cult inspiring hypnotoad into just another wild and wacky horse to ride.
I get it. I get why people find this to be a discrediting of the Gitrog from fearsome monster to funny creature, but it honestly works? Innistrad is a plane of horrors, and what happens to horror media when it recurs? It reduces, with each iteration. The best horror film franchises start and end at one, maybe two if you're lucky, and it only takes a complete and total revitalization and reimagining to fix it.
For now, Gitrog is a funny horse, but maybe one day he'll be the monster you remember from your nightmares.
Tumblr media
A scam artist and swindler from Innistrad, Old Honest Rutstein is a surprising pull for the plane... and yet works perfectly, as snake-oil salesmen fit the old west aesthetic perfectly. Has many a fun flavor text in the set, and notably is NOT a hellspur. He's just got some fun glowy corn husks to play with.
Was the first card from the set teased as preview art before this story arc began.
Tumblr media
The name is a reference to Misinformation Campaign, one of the best cards from Guilds of Ravnica, but mechanically it really is more like Dovin Baan's stupid planning and plotting card.
With that in mind, and given the... strange art, I'm saying this is from Ravnica.
Tumblr media
Jem Lightfoote, with an e, is one of the Atiin, as her flavor text implies. This is all we know about her, other than her being delightful and probably fun at parties.
Tumblr media
Jolene Jolene, please don't go punching my man into space. This... hilarious card showcases New Capenna's premiere boxing tough knocking a guy directly out of his boots, while her horrifically photo-realistic snorse niss's menacingly behind her.
Fun fact: her magical gauntlets, which she still has and you can tell because you can see them around her fists, lets her literally punch money out of people! Every hit knocks some gold out of them, made from their blood and life.
This is directly referencing a magical item from some actual play DND podcast that I'm blanking on the name of. Maybe The Adventure Zone?
Tumblr media
Kambal, once the Consul of Allocation of Ghirapur, in Kaladesh, was ousted from his position following the revolution, replaced with Pia, Chanra's mother. Despite losing all of his actual political power, his underworld connections didn't consume him for failure, and he survived past the Phyrexian Invasion to go on to becoming the corrupt mayor of Prosperity.
The art of him makes it look like he, as the kids these day say, is "serving cunt" and I kinda adore it.
Tumblr media
Kellan's join up card. Thunder Junction.
Tumblr media
And here is Kellan proper! The erstwhile hero of the "omenpath" saga of magic story, this is the first time since Eldraine that he's actually mattered in any real capacity! Here, he finally manifests the last of his birthright, the fae magics of Oko's plane, but in his heart he's still the little shepherd boy from Eldraine.
Kellan's story honestly concludes so well that I'll forgive the somewhat lackluster middle portion. He's a sweet and innocent and perfect soul. 0/10 villainy score.
Tumblr media
Kraum is Ludevic's Opus, his perfect creation, the pinnacle of his mad stitching science. He's like two dudes connected together who can fly through electromagnetic powers. Mad scientists are silly.
I adore that Ludevic cares this much about his apprentice though. Kraum never shows up in story, which is probably for the best, but it's really funny to imagine every scene Geralf is in just has a two headed lightning crackling Frankenstein just, off in the distance watching him.
Tumblr media
Jaspar Flint is, apparently, a Hellspur, which I can kinda see from the mutations on his hands and chest, so I suppose he's from Thunder Junction. But also there's no Viashino out there that look like desert lizards, so I do wonder where he's from... my best guess is actually Gastal, for some reason.
Tumblr media
Lazav, successfully convincing everyone on Ravnica of his death in defense of the plane, has decided to go solo mode. So much for him and Tezzeret's plane to take over Ravnica- not that that'd ever come to fruit given it's from a book everyone hates.
I really love the art for this card.
Tumblr media
Lilah is the leader of the Slickshots, and notably while she doesn't show up in the story proper, the secret to her and her gangs success does; a magical tincture only she can make, that empowers her and her allies with a little extra oomph to their magic.
The best way to identify a Slickshot is through their magic, and thte specific green magic she's launching out of a strange, heart-shaped bottle, suggests to me that she's actually a witch from Eldraine.
Tumblr media
The flavor text, plus the make and model of the thunder-gun on our would-be gunfighter's side, suggests this is Atiin to me.
And that's a total of thirty! So lets take a quick break and go to part 2 momentarily!

The Hunt - series
Chap 2. Blue Magic - Recom Miles Quaritch
spicy parts will take a while because I like build up, but be patient, build up in the story builds tension and tension = good sex
Na’vi is going to be in blue
pairing - recom miles quaritch x omatikaya!fem! reader
cw! torture, the machine that was used on Spider basically, death, gore (?), very descriptive stuff sorry, sexually suggestive things hehe 🤭
mature content ahead : proceed with caution!
Give up the Sullys, your people, give up everything you’ve ever known for these demons. That’s what they wanted from you. The whirring of the machine was worse enough, but to give up your entire life? You couldn’t think of any other hell. Squeezing your eyes shut, you listened as the tiny woman called General, demanded you think of something, anything. But you couldn’t, you couldn’t give up your clan.
You sobbed, the pain was unbearable. It felt like the torture went on for hours, days maybe. There were moments when you almost gave in, almost just fessed up. You knew you’d be banished if you made it back to your clan. That’s if they kill you once they got what they needed. You knew at some point they’d figure out where Sully went whether the information was from you, Spider or simple clues.
Mustering some strength you prayed to Eywa, words jumbled as you fought against the pain. This only pissed the General off even more as Spider reluctantly translated for her. “We can do this all day. Either you fess up now or we find more painful ways to get the information out of you!” The General was too confident you thought, too confident in her stupid sky army and inventions. You just needed to resist a bit more, maybe they’d give up, or maybe you would. It was an internal battle you knew they figured out by now, after all they had your entire mind on display.
You figured you could use it to your advantage, think of something to combat them. Something to show them your strength and resistance. You’d think of crushing them, starting with the tiny woman in front of you. You pictured her in your mind, waiting for the observation of the little people in white coats. Once you heard them alert her, you moved on to the next phase in this scene.
Making sure the thought was clear in your head, you pictured yourself plunging your knife into her body. Hearing her scoff, you opened your eyes, making sure she saw your determination. Before she could walk away, you did your best to think of their fortress in flame, crushed under your peoples fist. “Very theatrical, you and your people, shame you’re all so stubborn, your clan would be great allies.” You hissed at her, watching as she moved to stop the machine, finding no more use in you.
You sighed in relief as the machine slowed, and the restraints loosened around your body. Looking down, you observed as she gestured for the soldier from before to take you away. You almost fought against him as he grabbed you, but the exhaustion was stronger. Going limp in his hold, you gave the woman one last glare before being pulled away from the machine.
Before you could get back to your room, you had to be checked by the ‘scientists’ and ‘doctors’. Once the Colonel was given the green light, he pulled you up by your arms, and began making his way back to your holding cell. Spider followed behind, ducking under the Colonel’s tail as it flicked behind him.
“Y/n! Are you alright? I’m so sorry they had to do that to you.” You groaned in response, the boy’s frantic voice piercing your ears drums. “Go away.” Huffing, you attempted to lay down on the table in the room but were stopped by the buffoon that got you into this mess. “Uh uh sweetheart, doc says you gotta stay awake for the next hour or two to make sure your brain’s alright”
Smacking your teeth, you slapped the Colonel’s hands away and sat back up. Before you could argue with the man you were grabbed by Spider. Wrapping his arms around you, Spider squeezed you tight. “I’m sorry Y/n. I know you think I’ve betrayed your people, but please just listen to me.”
Hearing a pained grunt from you, Spider pulled away and stood back up to full height. You truly did not want to hear the excuses but he was just a boy you thought to yourself. “Go ahead.” You sighed and patted the place next to you for Spider to sit.
“Look, I know it looks bad and all, but I was captured just like you, and they used that machine on me too. And if I could go back in time and make sure I died before they caught me, or got away, I’d make sure of it.” The Colonel chuckled snidely to himself at this, drawing out a growl from you. Turning, you faced Spider and placed a hand on his shoulder. He let out a shuddered breath, that of a sob. “You have to see me Y/n, please. You have to understand that I’d never give up the clan.”
You were torn, within the first few minutes of seeing him in this cell when you woke up, you’d accused him of betrayal to the clan. Rightfully so, which Spider assured you. You had every right to lose faith and trust in him, after all he was without restraint in this place, and the man before you is his father. Well, was. Spider explained everything to you, with the protest of the Colonel, or ‘Miles Quaritch’. He even explained that no, they couldn’t let you go, not even if you begged, or were of no use to the General. They couldn’t risk it. So you’d be stuck here until they somehow captured and killed your former clan leader.
General ‘Ardmore’ would find a use for you, whether you liked it or not, was what ‘Miles’ told you. And within the hour, she did. You’d help the Recom Crew blend in, learn some of the ways of The People. Against your wishes of course. It was one thing to have a human boy raised amongst the Na’vi, but it was another to have a Na’vi, let alone an Omatikaya member.
You’d be fed and given a room to stay in. “We ain’t that cruel.” Is what you remembered ‘Miles’ saying, in a deep accent that made you giggle. Everything he said was hilarious when he sounded like that. Even his half assed threats.
By the end of the day you’d figure out the names of some of the soldiers you saw from Spider’s descriptions. You wondered just why, would these people who hated Na’vi, want to become one? You knew that back home, everyone would find it humorous. Imagining your friends asking about their funny hands and feet. Your clan accepted Jake Sully and his children for their differences, but these dreamwalkers? Never. They’d never become Na’vi.
You chuckled to yourself at this thought. They were signing themselves up for certain failure. Even Jake Sully himself said that the training was tough, and he gave it his all. These people were too clumsy, worse than children, and reluctant to even accept their new identities. But as ‘Miles’ explained, these people, were only meant to be clones. Given the memories of dead marines. It almost comforted you, thinking that these people may have chances to change, but you knew better than to expect more from less.
Laying down on your cot, you sighed and looked up at the ceiling, wishing for the forest noises and night sky to quell your anguish.
For now you’d go over what soldiers to look out for, advice from Spider. ‘Miles’ you knew, was your best shot, if you could get under his skin, or convince him go change, maybe you’d have a chance at escaping. The thought invaded your mind. Just how would you use ‘Miles’ to your advantage? The more you thought, the more your mind shifted to him entirely.
“‘Miles’..” You said his name aloud. Testing it out on your tongue. It was nice but also pitiful almost, to waste such a man on a task. How useful he’d be back home with those arms. That you were focused on most. And his voice, how powerful you sensed it was. As stupid as his accent was, it almost, ignited something inside. Hearing him speak. Watching him move. The way his muscles ripped beneath his skin.
You shuddered at the imagine forming inside your mind. This man had captured you, you couldn’t allow yourself to be deceived by him. You grunted to yourself and flopped onto your side, pacifying yourself with wishes for home, as turmoil filled the back of your mind. Colonel, Miles, demon, dreamwalker, whatever he was, you couldn’t allow yourself to become another piece in their game.
You dreamt of home that night, and the wonders it would become with Miles.

CHAPTER 14
Sir’s POV
The tracker hidden in the skeletons boot preformed wonderfully, the location has been found. He lead us straight to them. Our spy has told us that almost every monster left is hidden in the base Papyrus is in now. All but their king of course. He, Asgore, is currently in Washington, and our orders have disallowed for us to lead an attack on him for now. However, soon we will hold his people captive and he will have to leave. This, of course, allows us to abolish the monsters and the monarchy they live in. They deserve this, I have done nothing wrong... Though, the thought of their distruction is beginning to remind me of... then...
“Sargent Kristen, I believe we should launch the attack by night. Please ready the troops and insure there are no dogs. The skeleton has a way with them and could certainly turn the mutts against us.“ “Yes, Sir!“ “Mr. Ezlear, send everyone a digital copy of the map and layout of the base using the information from our spy.“ Of course, Sir!“ Everything must be perfect, a single error could cost us numerous lives. I don’t want that to happen, I may be rather heartless, but death isn’t something to be taken lightly. Never has and never will...
Monsters have been reported to show the least activity between 2-3 O’clock am. A perfect timeframe for our plan, I’ve thought and double checked everything. This will lead to the end of monsters, then, they will go back to being a fairytale. Just as it was meant to be.
Narrator 3rd person POV:
It was remarkable in the darkest of ways. Exactly 10 days later to the minute, after Papyrus uttered his comforting words the monster’s bunker was bombed.
“Sir“ and his specialized team of the most talented warriors were behind the attack, using the tracker placed in Papyrus’s boot to hunt down the surviving monsters. The air was thick with dust and smoke as the monsters tried to escape the burning building, they weren’t expecting an army to be standing nearly 20 paces from the old house.
The embers flew into the sky as shots and magical blasts could be heard from the surrounding areas. Fire lighting up the night sky, challenging the stars to their brilliance, but never their beauty. Burning wood fell from the collapsing ceiling, causing great chaos and distress to the monsters trapped inside. One young child in particular had gotten stuck in the rubble and now couldn’t escape, unfortunately the adults too busy to notice. Undyne and the newly healed Papyrus led the revolt against the aggravators, Sans and Alphys were leading others to safety, other monsters were captured, fighting, or running away from the conflict in fear. Smoke billowed into the skies as the building began to give way. A human noticed the child. At first he’d heard a small call for help and thought it was coming from across the battle field. Then, he heard it again, getting louder and louder as he approached what was left of the building. The reverberating tone served as proof to the child’s lack of humanity. So the solider had a choice: save or leave the enemy child.
It only took a second for him to decide before rushing into the fiery bunker. Wood came crashing down as he narrowly dodged it, attempting to stay low to avoid the now pure black smoke. The floors beneath him were splintering and nearby stone was turning red as it laid in the fire. It was hot, blazing hot. The solider’s arms began to burn and he shouted for the child, who in turn screamed back to him in desperation. Within a few seconds the talented human located the poor child, bits of his scales turning red with burns, wood splintering his tail, and awful scrapes from where his leg had been trapped between heating stone. He heaved the child from the danger and rammed his shoulder into the collapsing wall to escape as fast as he could from the old house. He then shielded the monster with his body as the wall fell into roaring flames biting the legs of the man, but never touching the kid.
The human nelt down to the kid after putting him down and smiled though he was covered in soot, coughing before he spoke. “Are you alright?“ His tone was naturally harsh, but he made an attempt to soften it to help the child whom he just realized was crying. “Uhh-uhh..umm... Y-yeah-“ he was interrupted by coughing, “- ’m okay... Are you a... a bad human?“ The young monster asked his savior. “I’m not 'good', if that is what you're asking. I suggest you run off now, it isn’t safe near me.“ “Could I at least have your name?“ The kid’s confidence began to rebuild the more he spoke. "If you must, it would be Mr. DiRosa to you, but I suggest calling me “Sir“.“ “WOAH! Cool! I’ve got to tell Undyne about this, thank you Sir!“ Sir gave him a genuine smile as he wiped sweat from his forehead, “Yeah...“ This was followed by a heavy sigh before Sir returned to the battle field giving commands and fighting monsters as if he hadn’t risked his life for one a few seconds ago. The war would go on, and no “heroic act“ by one commander would change how the man in charge felt about monsters and their threat to society. Not to mention, monsters can’t be as hopeful and kind was they act, with proof like Undyne, monsters could be violent. Still, Sir would never regret helping that “Monster Kid“, he’d risk his life for those he believes in. Trust was always his downfall, because if you trust no one, you are protected from everyone. However, if you cannot trust then how can you be trusted?
Meanwhile, Papyrus and Undyne fought together, attacking at the same time and making new bullet patterns via a combination of blue and green magic, thrusting spears and bones towards all attackers. Their only job was to protect and they couldn’t let anything get in their way.
Papyrus POV:
“On Y-Your Left, Undyne!“ I shout as I barely step out of the way of a falling piece of wood, it had caught fire like almost everything around us, including the dry grass and dead trees. We should have known they’d find us soon, but how? “PAPYRUS! STAY FOCUSED WE CAN’T AFFORD TO BE HIT!“ Undyne’s right, our race is too fragile to be lost in thought- Shots rang out as a few SOULS broke. I looked over to see the humans who fired at us getting sent flying back by my magic, then I sent multiple bones their way as well. I would never take their lives, my only goal is to stop the soldiers from attacking us. 10 monsters had been captured since the bombing, 7 dusted, 12 fighting with us, and 15 unaccounted for.Dust and ash painted the burning hills and woods igniting the world in a ghastly haze, that in itself was almost impossible to comprehend. It would have been a beautiful night... Bullets flew by me, slightly grazing my armer. An explosive was thrown directly at us a second later. “UNDYNE!“ I screamed for the first time in months. “RUN, GET AWAY, NOW!“ I sprinted as I screamed, running towards the barrage of human soldiers, firing attacks as fast and hard as I could. As the explosive went off I tumbled to the ground in a roll and used blue magic to force the army away. The moment I stood up I realized something, a battle tactic I had forgotten. I had blue magic which affects gravity, I had bones, but I could also fly... I am the Great Papyrus after all! With that, I took to the skies.
Sans’ POV:
"Alph, we need a two or three to carry some of the wounded to the cave Whimsalot scouted out earlier. They aren't going to be able to walk the whole trip." Undyne had strongly requested through tossing all of our medical supplies into my hands for me and Alphys to evacuate the living monsters to safety. Though, I suppose it's better than having to fight, don't really feel like it anyway. "O-Okay, Sans. H-Hey Aaron and uh other Aaron could y-you please carry-" "No problem, now we have a better reason to flex!" Guess that's taken care of now we need to figure out how long it will take us to get there... It only took Whimsalot 20 minutes to get to the cave, but he can fly... Could take us 30-45 minutes to get to it due to all the injured monsters. Oh well, at least we should be safe. Unless if... "Long time no see, skeleton." "yeah, 'nd i'd like to keep it that way, bud." ...He's here. I only turn around and give him a bored look. Sir or whatever his name was simply scowls. "guess you ain't too happy to see me, wonder why?" He growls, and if looks could kill I'd be long gone. "wait, wait lemme guess, is it cause we beat you so bad you didn't show your face for a week?" "I distinctly remember it was your ignorant brother who got you into this mess, 'brother of Papyrus'." "couldn't care less what you say 'bout me, but leave my bro outa this. he ain't do nothin'." "How do you think we found you?"Wait, what...? "Papyrus lead us right to your 'hideout'. That soldier should've known better, didn't have the slightest idea what he was doing." No... "Of course we couldn't have done it without Dr. Alphys, she was the greatest help in all of this." "w h a t" "Right, you wouldn't know about that, not if she wanted to remain free anyway. Our little rat was the mastermind behind the operation, lowering your guard and telling us when to strike." "no! you're lying, alphys is trustworthy! she would never sell out her own kind!" He walked closer and I rallied my magic. "Oh, it's not like she had a choice. It was that or be captured with the likes of your beloved queen, hyper intelligent robot, and the spider who keeps trying to sell us doughnuts..." Toriel, Mettaton, and Muffet are all in custody of these people?! "she's leading them all to capture as we speak" I whispered rather quietly and noticed how deathly silent it had gotten. "Though, since the mission's been completed I suppose she serves no more use for us." he spoke into a microphone attached to his ear, "Put the lizard in a cage to, she is no longer needed." I heard Alphys scream much farther ahead and immediately teleported to the forest where each and every monster had some sort of restraining collar on and was being forced into a cage. I'd failed, but maybe I could still help. "get off of her!" I flung a few men a hundred meters into the woods and shot bones out of the ground. Shots rang out as I effortlessly dodged and fired multiple Gaster Blasters at the soldiers. "Drive Carter!" Sir's voice echoed across the battlefield, and the truck sped away carrying the last of the passive monsters. Before I could do anything I felt something slam into my head leaving me stunned on the ground, strangely, no damage was done as if there was no intent. Someone knelt down and spoke to me. "Can't have freeing them now, Skeleton" Sir... "However,"" He whispered, "You possess magic I don't think my boss should have his hands on, so I'm letting you go, but don't go after the others. I won't be so merciful next time." Why...? Who is his boss and what is he planning on doing with the others... And Sir... I hate the guy, but he isn't completely bad is he? Perhaps misguided... Sir stopped soon after he walked away. " Oh, you might want to get your brother and fish friend. They may have beat our first fleet, but that was the weakest one. I promise it only gets worse from here."

I rarely share my original characters these days, but here's one of my girls: Francoise de Pontaralier, little crystal mage.
This drawing and its step-by-step process were published earlier on my Boosty, along with some additional Francoise sketches.
I've done this ilustration being inspired (or should I say "forced"? XD) by my co-author, who also happens to be my life partner. The story featuring Francoise and other girls is our little personal project we enjoy doing sometimes. You can find more specific info about Franz here. It's a rather old visual concept (I'm planning to redesign some stuff), but the character description is still on point.
Background is an adjusted photo by Donetsk blogger and photographer reilalex.

Fun-GAAAAH!
There's a fight in the Masked Carnivale where you fight Typhon, then Ultros, then Typhon (but when she gets to 75% Ultros shows up to help).
This is a really good Carnivale fight because on the one hand if you plan carefully it isn't hard, but on the other hand I literally used almost every spellbook slot they gave me for the one setup. Typhon's weak to fire, so fire moves are great to have.
On her own Typhon's pattern goes Fungaah, which is a melee attack+push, so all you have to worry about is not getting push-interrupted out of a cast. I started with Bristle into Song of Torment, which does improve the DoT as of a recent patch. Then Bristle again, because it has a fast cast time. Get shoved against the wall, start casting Breath of Magic, which is a strong DoT you get from the trainers for having a big collection. But you can just cast Flamethrower. Either cone will finish casting as Typhon gets into range.
Then you cast Moon Flute, which gives +50% damage for 15 seconds but will render you unable to do anything but move for 15 seconds after that runs out. Typhon slowly casts Fireball, so run out of the floor AoE casting Eruption on the move.
I recommend making an Eruption macro that reads /micon Eruption blueaction /blueaction Eruption <t> This will target Eruption at the enemy's location, saving you the extra click of picking where on the floor you put it.
Flamethrower again. Shock Strike for the OGCD damage.
Then Typhon starts casting Snort. This is a killer move, stunning you for like 10 seconds while she pelts you with 3 fireballs worth 50% of your hp each (33% of your hp if you have Mighty Guard, so still a kill if you're tankin').
You use Diamondback. This makes you immune to knockback and dramatically resistant to damage (seriously, like 95% resist) but unable to do anything for 10 seconds. Because it starts right as Moon Flute is running out, you're only missing out on 5 seconds of dps on the other end of it. And if you Moon Flute and drop 2-3 DoTs they can be eating the enemies while you hide. The Moon Flute/Diamondback combo is pretty sweet.
After that Typhon's a basic fight, and your basic attack of Flamethrower hits her weakness so you're in good shape.
The only fancy thing for Ultros is to bring Flying Sardine to interrupt Imp Song. Otherwise you waste a bunch of time getting turned into an imp. Besides that you just bring your favorite DPS rotation - Tingle>Trident, Assorted ult OGCDs, whatever. Dodge floor AoEs, heal at 1/3-1/2 hp, basic stuff.
The third fight, you get an achievement if you cheese it. So cheese it.
Make sure Mighty Guard is off. Toad Oil. Moon Flute, Off-guard, Bristle, Eruption, Bristle, Swiftcast, Self-Destruct.
Self-Destruct deals 1800 potency if you've got Toad Oil when you cast it. x1.5 for Moon Flute, x1.5 for Bristle, x1.05 for Off-guard, and at least x1.5 for type weakness, maybe x2, couldn't confirm. That's a minimum of 6,378 potency in one hit, the equivalent of casting Flamethrower about twenty times.
The achievement is for defeating Typhon without hurting Ultros in the fight. Which...Ultros never even makes it onto the field, because Typhon never hits 75%. She's at 90% from Boosted Eruption, and then she's dead.
The achievement for not hurting Ultros is "Octopath Traveler." Hehe.
