All of the chocobros are supportive in their own ways but absolutely nothing compared to how feral Prompto is. He hears a misgender and he is about to Throw Down. He hears "His Majesty" and Prompto is pulling out a gun

He goes through all of Tiss's mail and crosses out everything addressed Incorrectly with a sort of manic glee that Ignis doesn't even dare stop him

Ignis is so supportive in an Ignis way. He does All the research. He's that ally that knows more about trans experiences through research than most trans people do from personal experience. While they can't exactly do much for her transition medically on the road and technically being fugitives (and she's not overly concerned either) he still goes over every single potential option she has just so she Knows

Ignis is very annoyed that they actually Do Not Have The Funds to help Noctis like, socially transition in terms of clothing and jewelry and presentation. Tiss has to inform him that she is still perfectly happy dressing masc on the regular because they are, in fact, war fugitives and no, she does NOT need a new wardrobe

He still finds little ways to help her feel a little fem. Ignis is the one who starts to paint her nails for her and will on occasion just hand her a hair clip or small bits of jewelry she's not sure how he got

If Ignis ever gets the chance to find Noctis feminine formal ware he just about has a heart attack because instead of her usual grumping and groaning about how stupid formal wear is she is actually very tentatively excited. She definitely wants to wear the pretty dresses, Iggy. She doesn't UNDERSTAND a lot about fashion and shit but going over dozens of pretty dresses is a million times funner than going over dozens of suits.

She still gets bored after like an hour. But that's an hour of Noctis going through CLOTHES. Ignis is taking so many notes

Gladio isn't very like outwardly supportive or anything but he is so good at being the scariest thing in the room. He will Loom behind her and make people think twice about talking shit

He is the one who has to nearly tackle Prompto from trying to attack people at the SLIGHTEST hint of bigotry

He's not good at fancy shit. But while they're on the road, living out of the armiger and clothes bought from thrift stores and hunter depots, Gladio helps resize dresses and shirts and everything that won't fit her

He's not the one who'll give a nice pep talk or comfort her when she's down but he WILL be the first to pull her aside and ask very seriously if she needs a hug

Being the one and only one of them with a living female family member, Gladio also is the resident "Iris does X girly thing, if that helps?"

The day that Prompto and Noctis wear matching skirts Gladio calls them fucking ridiculous, ruffles their hair, and threatens to lock them in a closet together

SUPER MONKEY BALL: BANANA RUMBLE TRANSLATED

So I've mentioned a few times that there's a written language in this game. To my knowledge, I'm the only one who's been actively translating everything, so I figure I should post it. Shoutouts to viv for repeatedly reminding me to make this. It's gonna be a BIG post, so I'm putting it under the cut

If you wanna see all the cool work put into this (or if you're a puzzle solver who wants to help crack a code I'm hoping to crack) then journey onward

So first of all, here is the code as we have it (as rough estimations made by yours truly)

Over the course of this post, I also found out the numbering system (as you'll see once we reach Oceanus), so here's how numbers work, although they appear rarely

Some of them vary depending on handwriting, but this should do a good job of telling you which is which.

This game isn't lying to you, that book DOES say "Journal". And each goal is labeled as such and has a sticker saying "Monkey Resort"

Here are all the brochures for each world (you may need to click to enhance). Caelum's is definitely the most interesting, but these helped me a ton to figure out the language.

This section turned out to be huge, because a lot of figuring out an upcoming section is partly thanks to this one (I literally just now confirmed what X looks like with Boxing, and as a lesser note, I think we not have confirmation on numbers. Yahoo). Anyway, I don't know why it says meme, but I don't care

Anyway, here's Palette's diary that shows up during the credits completely translated (spoilers of course)

Now for the real meat and potatoes. Oceanus. What's interesting about Oceanus is that a lot of the writing is flipped for whatever reason, and it translated out to mostly gibberish (AND it used numbers). Very interesting way to portray what's supposed to be a dead language. There are multiple square panels which each include 35 characters (except one I think?) and a few circles that have 20 characters apiece in them. Is it meant to just be gibberish? I don't think so. The way it's hidden and formatted doesn't seem like an afterthought (especially when you take a look at how much writing IS in the game) I haven't had any luck making sense of them, but if it means anything to you guys, let me know!

Anyway, that does it for the codes for now! I think I missed pasting a couple of these (for example, the card that Easel leaves in Story Mode and the Easel card item in battle mode says "Preliminary Notice" on it). If you have any questions or any leads on this Oceanus stuff, let me know!

Hello my firefighter au loving friends. Here are a few details about the au that haven’t found their way into or were cut from the story.

Sam does that southern thing where he refers to people in distress with sickly sweet pet names. Patients are often called “sugar, sweetheart, honey, baby.” Stuff like that. That is why Darlin’s nickname came so easily.

I had initially planned to utilize bath scenes for character developments with Darlin’. The idea that this character that throws themself from one problem to the next would stop, slow down, wash themself, and those would be the moments they would choose to change what they were doing/who they were made a lot of sense for me. I wrote a few of those scenes, most prominently on their first night at David’s house, but I found they drastically slowed down the pace of the story. Just know that in the firefighter au, Darlin’ is a bath person when they have the time.

Almost all of the characters in Redacted and their listeners have a set Firefighter AU role. Some of those have already been addressed. I plan to write about some others. And then some I just have in my brain with no real plan to utilize them. For example, Vega is a doctor at Dahlia General. He’s an immunologist who specializes in deadly deseases. He’s noted by his peers to be a… touch too excited about infected patients for their research potential. Warden is an internal medicine resident who has been tasked with being Vega’s bedside manner expert, since he scares patients more often than he comforts them. Do I have any plan to utilize the two of them?? Nope. I’d happily chat about any characters y’all want to know more about in this au!!

Some of the demons in this story have their canon names as their first names and some have them as their last names. Caelum and Gavin have their given first names and a shared last name (that, gods help me, I have not given a single thought to). Brachium and Vega both have first names (Theodore and Preston respectively). Camelopardalis’s parents were cruel and just named him that.

So yes, there are just a few details about the au that I wanted to share.❤️❤️

​​OBSCURA trailer analysis & theories

The OBSCURA trailer is very pretty (watch it if you haven’t already <3) and is also full of interesting symbolism and snippets of Latin. In this post I’m going to be manually translating and providing notes on the Latin, as well as discussing what the numbers mean and giving my own plot speculations. SPOILERS for OBSCURA’s Chapter 1 with every love interest. 

I’m going to be working with the theory that the numbers correspond to the Major Arcana in a Rider–Waite–Smith tarot deck. I’ll be pulling tarot card information from A.E. Waite’s 1910 book ‘The Pictorial Key to the Tarot’, where he discusses the symbolism of the images in the cards and provides divinatory meanings. 

Shoutout to @/starlitmanta and @/mostlygayrage for posting their own analyses before me! I got inspired by both of them to both write down my thoughts and then actually finish the post after leaving it for months lol. @/mostlygayrage has some interesting stuff on the imagery and also delved into the Latin! Although he took it as one sentence which I won’t be doing – I’m going to take the double forward slashes as an indication of a break. 

Disclaimer that I haven’t formally studied Latin in years so if there are any errors feel free to point it out in the notes! 

Cirrus

Obsequium // ducit ad caelum Obedience // he leads to heaven TL notes N/A Tarot meaning To quote Waite, “The moon is increasing on what is called the side of mercy… the path between the towers is the issue into the unknown. The dog and wolf are the fears of the natural mind in the presence of that place of exit, when there is only reflected light to guide it…the message is: Peace, be still; and it may be that there shall come a calm upon the animal nature...��� 

Upright: Hidden enemies, danger, darkness, terror, deception, occult forces, error. Reversed: Instability, inconstancy, silence, lesser degrees of deception and error. Speculation I think we can all agree that Cirrus is not trustworthy, hence danger, deception, occult forces etc. Nevertheless, Vesper (if you’ve got a good ending, at least) puts great degrees of trust in him. ‘A calm upon the animal nature’ calls to mind his odd ability to influence Vesper’s choices and force them into saying ‘yes’, but I also thought it might reference something about Vesper putting aside their instinctive reservations about Cirrus’ suspicious character to follow him into an unknown future. 

Leading to heaven is, to me, a bit double-edged; it could mean death or paradise. Very fitting, I think. 

Keir

20. Keir // Cavillatur fur XX: Judgement. Keir // Mocking thief 

20. Fatum // vestrum vel extraneus [Destiny / (calamitous) death] // yours or a stranger TL notes I’m inclined to believe that Keir’s name being his plain name rather than an epithet is probably just part of his blunt kind of character, and ‘mocking thief’ is probably related to his personality too. Also, there is another piece of Latin on that first screen – ‘cultellus’, which means ‘dagger’ and points downwards towards where his dagger is held. Also, ‘fatum’ is a very interesting word in that it carries an intriguing potential double meaning. Tarot meaning Upright: Change of position, renewal, outcome. Reversed: Weakness, pusillanimity, simplicity; also deliberation, decision, sentence. Speculation Waite’s initial discussion of Judgement is very Biblical which I doubt has much to do with OBSCURA’s use of it. I do think the divinatory meanings are very interesting – I think that at a good/best end of Keir’s route, he’ll be able to come out on top and secure a good and/or stable future for himself and/or Mouse Hole. 

My current theory is that, since we have had mentions of Keir and Oleander in each others’ routes, that they have direct effects on each others’ fates. This fits with ‘yours or a stranger’ of course, but also the double-edged ‘destiny or (calamitous) death’ – I’ll speculate more in Oleander’s route, but I think he and potentially most of Mouse Hole will not fare well if Vesper picks Oleander. 

I’m interested in why his dagger was explicitly pointed out and labelled. I’m kind of shooting in the dark here but I think it’ll be significant in the future – either as a symbol of his history (specifically with Oleander, perhaps?) or as a plot device of some sort. 

Oleander

11. Patiuntur // sicut habes They are suffering // just like you are TL notes More technically, ‘nerii’ is the genitive of ‘nerium’, which means oleander. This makes sense to me when I think about how he’s had a history of changing names – he’s moreso embodying the qualities of oleander (a pretty but dangerous plant) rather than taking it as a definitive name. 

‘Patiuntur’ is in the plural, and suffering might be a strong word depending on how you look at it – the original word is like enduring through something difficult or unpleasant. Tarot meaning Waite basically says that the card has ‘obvious meanings’ so I don’t think I need to look too closely into it. 

Upright: Equity, rightness, probity, executive; triumph of the deserving side in law. Reversed: Law in all its departments, legal complications, bigotry, bias, excessive severity Speculation The second half of the second piece of Latin, ‘sicut habes’, is in the second-person and I’m assuming that this is meant to address Vesper/MC. Maybe Oleander is also looking for something that he can’t find or afford, although the plural throws me off a bit if that’s the case. Maybe it’s referencing Oleander’s previous Vigils (since Vesper is currently holding that position, ‘just like’ they have) or something…? 

Now, here is my plot theory which may or may not be insane. We know that Oleander has committed murder, and was very blasé about it; presumably he’s done this sort of thing before. We know that in his route, Keir has been alluded to, Griff has shown up and Keir is presumably going to show up at some point. I think that Oleander’s involvement with Keir is going to end very poorly for Keir, even leading to the calamity insinuated in Judgement. Specifically, I think that Oleander and Keir are going to be caught up in a serious crime and Keir is going to take the fall, leading to a permanent end for him (death, probably) and the following collapse of Mouse Hole. Oleander will get off lightly or scot-free (Justice’s ‘triumph of the deserving side in law’, ‘deserving’ as opposed to Keir who is indisputably a criminal and receives ‘excessive severity’). 

This could be from Keir and his group failing the burglary since Vesper isn’t there to cover for the injured lookout, or it could be something else that brings in the dagger which was pointed out in Keir's portion of the trailer. I’m thinking murder, honestly. 

Francesco

10. Franciscum // innocentes nobiles X: Wheel of Fortune. Francisco // innocent nobles 

10. Tempus // decurrit Time // runs out TL notes Grammatically, ‘Franciscum’ is in the accusative (the case used to mark the ‘object’ on which a verb acts). This could be a stylistic thing or it could allude to how he’s being ‘acted upon’ by whatever power/influence his family have. 

‘Decurrit’ is literally ‘runs down’ which fits with the hourglass imagery, but I imagine that the spirit of the phrase is ‘runs out’ especially since his route already alludes to that. Tarot meaning To quote Waite, “the symbolic picture stands for the perpetual motion of a fluidic universe and for the flux of human life … the essential idea of stability amidst movement. Behind the general notion expressed in the symbol there lies the denial of chance and the fatality which is implied therein.” 

Upright: destiny, fortune, elevation, luck, felicity. Reversed: increase, abundance, superfluity. Speculation I think that at some point within Francesco’s route, his family is going to be further involved. I assume that these are the ‘innocent nobles’, which makes me think that whatever state or situation that they find Francesco in won’t be very innocent at all. Alternatively, it could be that his family is more innocent/harmless than they present themselves as – depending on circumstance, this could be a big win for Vesper or a big loss because they don’t have the family backing that they thought they did. 

The Wheel of Fortune carries connotations of luck and change in fortune. I assume that Vesper provides Francesco with some degree of ‘stability amidst movement’ and that any ‘denial of chance’ involves Francesco leaving the marketplace and returning to the very clearly mapped out future that his family has for him, thus leading to a bad end. ——————————

Hiya, Redacted fandom! I've had the pleasure of being tagged in a few different games lately. I have been working on my next Redactedverse fic.

Hint: It's an AU! And it's been such fun figuring out how to blend the Redactedverse into one of my favorite stories. Can you guess what it is? (Answer in the tags.)

If you know me, you know I write at a VERY slow pace and that I don't post on AO3 until the full story is drafted. I only recently started working on this fic, but I did want to post a teaser to for fun and excitement. Please see below the cut for the first released snippet of this fic.

Caelum still looked skeptical. “Is there fun stuff in it?”

“Are you kidding?” Gavin gasped. “Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, shifters, stealths, vampires, chases, escapes, true love, miracles!” 

“Doesn’t sound too bad,” Caelum considered. “I’ll try it.” 

Freelancer snickered. “A real kind gesture.” 

“Mhmm, yeah, sure,” Gavin huffed. “You say that now. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming.” He relaxed in the chair, materializing matching pillows to help support his and Freelancer’s backs. “Alright,” he sighed, opening the book with a finger flick. “<em>The Prince Shifter</em>, by S. Morgan Kyne. Chapter 1.

“<em> David Shaw was raised on a small farm in the country of Dahlia. He was a wolf shifter, the biggest wolf anyone in the town had ever seen. Gavin peaked over the top of the book. “Isn’t that a wonderful beginning?”

Caelum gave him a skeptical huff. “Nothing happened yet.”

Need everybody to know I've been going feral about the idea of trans girl Noctis who just. She didn't know. She didn't fucking know she was trans. She had that delightfully vague dislike of gender roles as a child and growing unhappiness with what cis male fashion was 'supposed' to be but she just thought it was because gender roles ARE dumb and masculine fashion IS pretty plain and she just dove into being a punk guy for the fun of it. Like being the Prince meant she was held to such a high standard and shit that she just thought she was struggling with the pressure of social expectations. Since there wasn't much actual dysphoria to go with it she just shrugged it off

And then sometime later while out on the road away from everyone's expectations she's relaxing and enjoying herself and FINDING herself and then Gladio jokingly calls her Princess like he always does and she just kinda

Sending a headcannon and I got carried away:

Our Dragon-Parented Dragonslayers needed to learn modern Fioran (or whatever languages Earthland X777 had) after arriving in the future and Natsu's the one with the biggest grasp of it.

These kids were from 400 years in the past when there was a huge dragon-feud going on. If Nirvana and Dragnof are any indication, multiple civilizations fell during that time and with it the loss of several languages. Whatever language they had been taught (which was likely at least one form of dragonic at the time...because dragon parents), it's probably considered extinct in X777.

But thing is I think Natsu may have been the only one to get lessons on how to read and write Fioran.

Gajeel? He got stuck in Phantom Lord, which (to put it nicely) had a sink-or-swim philosophy towards it's members. He probably picked up on a bit on his own, but likely also struggles reading job assignments and won't let anyone know he is (side headcannon: our favorite linguist Levy helped him out once she found out he was struggling).

Wendy? The kid who first got adopted by a runaway prince from another dimension and then by a 400 year old ghost? I don't think either of them know Fioran themselves, much less could teach it. On the bright side, she probably also knows ancient Nirvit.

The Two Sabergoofs? Same case as Gajeel. Rogue's hit with a double whammy since he supposedly hung around Phantom Lord before getting yeeted to Sabertooth's guildmaster. Though this probably leads to a few complications once Sting is guildmaster and has to start filling out paperwork.

So much to everyone's surprise, out of all of them Natsu - who got seven-years worth of supportive family at the orphan daycare - is the one who can read/write in modern language best.

It's not a unique headcannon by any means but one of my favorites. Thoughts?

Y'see this is what im talkin bout, some good ol' analysis stuff.

I had a post aaaaagggeeees ago (if i find it back i may link it) bout like a crack situation where the team got forced to speak their first languages and natsu n wendy got stuck speaking their og ancient fioran languages and no one could understand wtf they were saying (and they couldnt understand each other neither bcus i had it that they were speakin different dialects of ancient fioran but details.). But i am gettin off track.

I always hc that most of the slayers didnt end up in Fiore when they got shot to the future, itd be kinda boring if they all ended up on the same continent. So Gajeel for me landed in Bosco so he learnt Boscan first as his modern language before he made his way to fiore to learn the language there by osmosis. I think Gajeel as a character especially to me with his spying skills and generally personality is super discerning with his desire to know information. So i think he's largely self taught with everything when he was on his own and knows 2 languages fully- Boscan and Fioran- but his fioran is weaker especially when it comes onto the writing part. And he vaguely knows phrases and terms from a bunch of diff languages.

Wendy landed closer to the border of Fiore and Seven before mystogan picked her up. I'd like to think that the language in Edolas and Earthland is largely the same orally (but it'd have a whole different written language) so he managed to teach her how to speak modern fioran but write in modern edolas. Which was a weird disconnect when the team found out down the line lmao. When he left her with cait shelter she picked up that additional language (which is a purely oral language) and is probs the only person left in modern fiore who can speak it (Levy loves her for it)

Sting got yote to Caelum before somehow making his way over to Minstrel then Fiore, he speaks a weird combo package of slangs from all 3 and he's not fully fluent in all of em (fioran is his best) and sometimes when he can't remember a word in one he'll supplement it with a word from another. He's ironically better at the written languages with them than speakin em.

Rogue met Sting in Minstrel briefly (didnt stick around with each other and then ran into each other again in fiore) but Rogue never picked up on Minstrel's language easily so he only picked up on fioran when he eventually made his way over. He knows brief smatterings and terms from other languages from his time hanging out with phantom lord but is only fluent in just the one.

Natsu's the only sucker who landed squarely in Fiore and was picked up by Makarov who had him fluent enough in speaking modern fiore before he got him back to the guild. He didn't get around to starting him with writing so that was a task for the others to teach and get him up to speed (to varying success. His handwriting sucks ass). I also like to think he hung around a decent amount with Levy when he was younger (he liked listening when she read her stories aloud) so he has a weird mixed bag of being able to read and understand a whole bunch of random language bits despite not actively trying to learn em.

The Ardent Watchers' duty was to aid the Expeditionary Fleets on the fringes of the Great Crusade. Bringing worlds with large populations of Psykers into Imperial compliance or purging those worlds likely to have suffered Daemonic incursions. This was done as part of the measures to keep the Expeditionary Fleets and wider Imperium ignorant to the reality of the warp and the malign entities that dwell within. Over the course of the Great Crusade, The Ardent Watchers would take part in many planetary compliances though their contributions by nature of their duty were often either downplayed or omitted entirely.

When news of Horus' betrayal and the massacre at Isstvan V reached them, The Ardent Watchers were fighting in the Ultima Segmentum far to the Galactic East, aiding the 208th Expeditionary Fleet bring the Psyker rich world of Torsous XII into Imperial compliance. Shield Captain Constance Heratt ordered the small Expeditionary Fleet to follow her host back to Terra, but was forced to execute the fleet commanders when they declared Loyalty to the Warmaster. What followed was a slow advance back to Terra where the Ardent Watchers would be waylaid by warp storms and Traitor forces.
