I can't believe I didn't notice this before but everything in Madame Red's cinematic record is black and white except the color red! I'll give season 1 props for that.

Even onis can get hit by a reaper's scythe
Tumblr media
I once have a silly idea where oni kinds like Hoozuki can get injured by a grim reaper's death scythe. It didn't kill them, but can caused a pretty nasty injury and also revealing their cinematic record.
Poor Hoozuki, unlucky enough to get hit by a death scythe

Ch209, A few spoiler pages
Prepare your tissue box.
Here's the title page.
Tumblr media
And onto the bummers....
As I suspected, we are seeing Snake's cinematic records as his soul is collected. What's surprising is this appears to be a reaper we've never seen before. I think they have dreadlocks?!? Neat! I wonder if we will ever see this reaper again.
Tumblr media
We can see that he was 18 years old, as he was born March 15, 1871 and dies December 9, 1889. According to a fan translation on Discord, his mother's name was something like Sarah Campbell, and she was an actress.
The reaper is saying "no remarks" or "remarks: none", so they are just preparing to stamp it COMPLETE.
Tumblr media
It's important that it's only December 9th, because that means my theory for the contract end date is still working: December 13, 1889, which is the date before our earl's 14th birthday. It's also a Friday the 13th, which marks his father's birthday and his paternal grandmother's death. His Aunt Francis/Frances might also have been born on a Friday the 13th. It's oddly fitting if our earl also dies on one.

Bucky: what happened to you?
Steve: There was this asshole in an alleyway and I tried to fight him so I said "life is short! Smile while you still have teeth"
Bucky: why
Steve: I thought it was a cool line
Bucky: That would be a good line if you could actually knock anyones teeth out
Steve: *smiles to show a missing tooth and a chipped tooth* i did break some teeth, actually
Bucky: you just need to work on your aim

Out of all of the scenes in Vol. 3, I have to say this little one on Counter-Earth is one of my favourites because despite all the arguing and chaos that's going on between them all, it all stops as soon as Quill draws that picture of Theel and they focus on him and compliment his drawing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's so damn wholesome, and Drax wanting the picture for his apartment just has my heart.
I love the way they hype each other up like this. it's so sweet.

❕❔ [RECORDING TWO]
They stepped away from the microphone when they finished their message. As soon as they did so: someone came running out of the shadows. There was no time to scan his appearance as he grabbed the intercom microphone. With panted breath, he spoke.
“Hi, Founder!” They shouted despite speaking into a microphone and their voice already echoing. They stepped back and decided to let the boy do his job. The spirit spoke for a little bit more before slamming his hands on the table. Grabbing the microphone and sitting on the table. “What did you do to Crikin? 8Ball really needs to know!”
He put up a finger as he looked up at the glowing sign, the sign still pulsing with a red glow as he wrapped things up. “Also! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO WITH THE TECH CREW?? Please! I’ve been in the void since day one: I just want to see them again!” He quickly ended the recording and went to slam the red button but as soon as he clicked the button. The light went out and an error effect played throughout the void.
He gritted his teeth and got off of the desk, placing the microphone back down with a fist as he looked at Interrobang. “What?” He spat. They put their hands up in surrender. The boy pulled up a sign with two red exclamation marks painted on it and put it in front of his face as he spoke. “Hmmm. I haven’t seen you around in the void before. What’s your name?” They were about to speak up before the spirit rudely interrupted them.
“Oh wait! Lemme guess!” He hummed as he started floating around them. Lifting arms and getting a good look at their face before noticing a small pin on their vest. “Ooh! I got one! Screaming Question?”
What.
It sounded more like a title rather than a name. They blinked, taken aback by the sudden name suggestion. They shook their head slowly, trying to process the situation. "No, that's not... my name," they replied, their voice carrying a mix of confusion and amusement. "But you can call me… Interrobang?"
The spirit's eyes widened in surprise, his floating form hovering closer. "Interrobang? That's... different." He mused, scratching his translucent chin. "Okay, Interrobang it is!" He declared with a grin, seemingly pleased with the new moniker. "So, what brings you to the void? Looking for answers, adventure, or just passing through?"
Interrobang considered the question for a moment before responding, "A bit of everything, I suppose. I woke up here with no memory of how I got here or who I am. Now I'm just trying to figure it out."
The spirit nodded sympathetically, a couple of small wisps that floated around him bobbing up and down. "Ah, the classic case of void amnesia," he remarked knowingly. "Well, you're not alone in that regard. Some folks around here trying to piece together their pasts." He floated back a bit, giving Interrobang some space. "If you ever need help navigating the void or just someone to chat with, I'm your guy. Name's Exclamation, by the way."
Interrobang offered a grateful smile. "Nice to meet you, Exclamation. Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on that."
As they exchanged pleasantries, the specter’s gaze fell upon the cassette player Interrobang held, and recognition sparked in his eyes. "Hey, that's mine!" he exclaimed, his voice tinged with urgency as he reached out towards it.
Interrobang instinctively pulled the cassette player closer, a defensive stance creeping into their posture. "Yours?" they questioned, their tone wary. "How do you know it's yours?"
Exclamation’s features contorted into a mixture of frustration and desperation as he put down the sign. "I recognize it! It's got my sign-off on it!" he explained, his incorporeal form flickering with agitation. "I've been looking for it everywhere. It's important to me!"
Interrobang's grip tightened on the cassette player, a hint of skepticism coloring their expression. "I found it lying around here. There were no names on it," they countered, unwilling to relinquish the object without more convincing evidence.
Exclamation’s translucent form seemed to quiver with frustration. "Look, I know it's mine! I must have dropped it while going back!" he pleaded, desperation seeping into his voice. "Please, I need it back!!"
Tensions escalated as Interrobang hesitated, torn between empathy for Exclamation’s plight and their own need to hold onto the only tangible clue they had about this place. But before they could make a decision, Exclamation lunged forward, his ghostly form attempting to wrest the cassette player from Interrobang's grasp.
Reacting instinctively, Interrobang dodged Exclamation’s ethereal grasp, their movements swift and fluid. A brief scuffle ensued, with Exclamation’s incorporeal form phasing through Interrobang's attempts to block him.
Amid the chaos, a sudden realization struck Interrobang—they didn't need to fight over the cassette player. With a decisive motion, they tossed the device towards Exclamation, who caught it with a surprised expression. The headphones snapped out of its slot as the tape started playing again. Exclamation put a finger up as he immediately paid attention.
“Huh, that went faster than I thought it would. I'm sure I know exactly where that is. Thank you, Sincerely.”
Exclamation’s eyes widened as he looked up at Interrobang. And when that recording fizzled out: Voices in the void got louder, louder, and louder. People(?) immediately came forth from the shadows.
A cat with a cane, a blank slate with an iron maiden shut around their head, a goat.. sheep thing? A floating eye robot, a marionette, a mask, a rat, a being of the stars, an egg who looks ready to kill, a glowing heart, a ticking fuse, someone that looked nearly human if it weren’t for its ears and tail, even someone who looked eerily similar to the kid who was getting a hug from before.
They all seemed to look past Interrobang and they all looked at each other. A lovely anon narrowed their sets of eyes and crossed their arms. “Now, why would they do that?”
The cat mumbled no under his breath like a mantra. The being of the stars cracks their knuckles as the Metalhead slung a backpack over their shoulders. Their glasses looked at Exclamation and tilted to the side: wanting to talk to him.
Exclamation turned their tape back over to see a question mark and exclamation point burned into it. He glared at Interrobang as he rose to his feet and followed the Iron Maiden. The rest of the anons went to discuss amongst themselves. Leaving Interrobang by themselves.
“Well. That’s one way to make a splash into the void.” They mumbled to themselves as their tail (wait they had a tail now?) uncomfortably flicked against the ink dripping from their face.
“Now. We’re going to have some fun around here.”

what do you think of the theory that Vincent is a death god now?
Hey Anon! Well, I used to be pretty against it, but nowadays I think it all depends on what we currently know about Shinigamis, which is to say not much.
What I mean is that, in ch105, Yana revealed that Shinigamis are former humans who killed themselves...
Tumblr media
...however, we do not know if that's the only way for a human to become a Shinigami.
Remember, Yana could hold onto some additional truth that we have yet to figure out, especially considering that since ch105, Sensei strongly hinted several times that the Shinigamis' higher ups are super sketchy. [x][x][x]
In other words, there is possibly a real gap between what Shinigamis themselves believe to be the truth whereas the actual truth is hidden by the higher-ups.
Additionally, that's just my opinion but, seeing as UT (and the possible other deserters he works with) is very anti higher-ups, I wonder if editing the records (to make dead people into BD) is not an idea he got from finding out some truths about Shinigamis, which led to his desertion. [x]
Tumblr media
For example, maybe all Shinigamis had their records altered in order to become Shinigamis ? And if that's the case, then maybe some altered memories (read: lies) were put to their records, making them all believe that they're overworked slaves "because of suicide" when none of it is true? Just like the redemption reward is also probably a lie.
All that to say that I believe UT's BD project is a hint to a big and terrible truth that we have yet to fully grasp (take it as a rebellion towards the Shinigamis' higher-ups, on top of UT missing the dead Phantomhives) so, for now, I think it's important to be very careful about the "truth" we were told about the Shinigami Organization.
Back to Vincent: for now, I believe that he was definitely murdered.
Tumblr media
Meaning that if suicide is really the only way for a man to become a Shinigami, then he did not become a Shinigami. However, if becoming a Shinigami is not just about suicide, but about several other factors, then it's not impossible that Vincent became a Shinigami after he died. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In my opinion, Yana-sensei made sure not to rule out the possibility in canon, as in, she left a few hints that could be red herrings, just like they could be used to interpret that Vincent is not really "dead". Those hints are
1) ch107.5, because, even though he's supposedly dead, he wears gloves and a suit that could resemble that of a Shinigami's.
Additionally, even if the rosette power thing was just for comical effect, it's interesting that he showed up at all even though UT said he cannot be brought back as a bizarre doll.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) the state of his body, that UT mentions in ch105.
After all, if it's burnt so badly, that means his cinematic record can't be read and thus altered to turn him into a BD, so how certain are we that they buried Vincent's body?
Tumblr media
3) the fact that he constantly breaks the 4th wall despite "being dead" (ch107.5, short story "with Father", etc), which so far has no explanation in canon.
All of these could be nothing important, because Yana's simply playing around with us, just like they could be significant on some aspects.
Tumblr media
The point is : the more the story goes, the less we have a reason to believe that what Sascha explained in ch105 is entirely true. Not with UT and possibly other deserters actively working against the higher-ups, without a real explanation from their side so far.
TL;DR the possibility of Vincent having become a Shinigami can't be entirely ruled out and won't be, until we have found out the entire truth about the Shinigami Organization.
Is the key to their fate really suicide ? Or are there other actions in life that will turn someone into a Shinigami post mortem? Until a deserter, UT or somebody else, tells their version of the truth, I will not trust the information we've had in canon so far about Shinigamis.
(Personally I'd rather he's truly and definitely dead, but if him becoming a Shinigami furthers the very important plot thread of the Shinigamis' higher ups being absolute assholes who need to be taken down, then I'll be okay with it.)
Sorry if it's a bit confusing, but there's no way to be sure of anything on that topic. Have a good day Anon!

Did Undertaker knew which twin was the one he rescued from the fire? 🤔
It's been stated that its hard to identify them by by looks alone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then again, it didn't mattered to him.
Tumblr media
And in the bloody state he found him, I suppose that's even harder.
I assume, after he started tinkering with his soul did he realized it was the Real Ciel and what a lie the other twin was crafting. But if Real Ciel soul was used as a sacrifice to summon Sebastian, how does Rciel cinematic records work then? Wouldn't Sebastian felt it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And exactly at what point did Undertaker arrived to get the body out of the fire? Because I refuse to believe he stood by and watched one little twin lose his soul to a demon only for the other twin to sell his soul to the same demon minutes later.
Oh Yana, Yana. We need answers!!!
.
I'll go and drink some tea now.

Ch209 (p4), The queen of tragedy
⚠️ Long post ⚠️
You might be wondering where that heading comes from. I'll get to that in a bit....
So, we are back to recent events, where Finny and Doll fight over Snake, each one claiming the other is the enemy. Both parties are involved in deception; he wonders why they helped him but lied the entire time. Out of the circus troupe, he seems to have been closest to Doll, and she never told him the truth about the circus. He also becomes particularly close to Finny, who immediately likes his snakes, but Finny doesn't inform him about the true fates of his circus friends. Then there're our earl and Sebastian, who lead him to believe the circus members are still alive and just on the lamb.
Tumblr media
Why would the people closest to him all lie to him?
Then we get a couple scenes before his and Finny's assignment begins.
Tumblr media
But this flashback switches from what Snake is recalling... to what a reaper is reviewing. Born March 15 -- the Ides of March -- to an actress named Sarah Kemble. More on her at the end. Death on December 9, 1889, from blood loss.
Tumblr media
The expression on this (new to us!) reaper's face makes me wonder what he's thinking. He says "no additional remarks", but I believe he's thinking some additional thoughts.
Tumblr media
He must realize there's something odd about Doll, who is holding Snake's body and grieving over him. Doesn't he realize she's a bizarre doll? Has he not taken note of the blood transfusion equipment in the room down the hall? What about all the veins popping up all over her body? Hasn't he been informed about the search for Undertaker and his moving corpses?
Does he not yet have info from Othello regarding Layla/Al? We have to keep in mind that this is all probably happening around the same time that Ronald and William are taking Layla/Al into custody, so this reaper might not be fully informed and so might not know what all signs to look for.
Besides, Ronald is sent to Norfolk ahead of the impending deaths, because there was word a bizarre doll is stationed there. He just has to figure out which person it is. Ronald can't tell who the bizarre doll is just by looking, so he has to wait and see who starts acting like one.
This reaper apparently isn't sent to investigate FOL Orphanage, suggesting HQ didn't have similar intelligence regarding a bizarre doll there. If he's not looking for one, he might not bother to take much notice of Doll's appearance or the medical equipment.
Everything is happening at about the same time:
Mey-Rin and Ran-Mao are heading to their next meeting spot while Polaris makes his report to real Ciel and Undertaker. Heathfield is arrested, and the legal investigation there is still underway.
Ronald and William are dealing with Layla/Al, with the intention of taking her back to HQ for examination. Baldo, Lau, and the others are still planning their getaway; they have not yet escaped the sanatorium.
Othello is probably at HQ, working out the finer details of the transfusion machine he has just recently confiscated from the underground facility at Bath. Beyond that, the dove he sent back to HQ might be the only call for help he's requested to deal with Undertaker.
And this reaper is (as far as I can tell) just responding to the assigned task of collecting souls from Snake, Susan, and the head matron. He really might not be in the loop about Undertaker and his moving corpses... just yet.
This gives an easy setup for him to go about business as usual and leave Doll to her grieving. If he doesn't confront her and just leaves, she can ask Undertaker to turn Snake into a bizarre doll -- even if it's just to be her companion. Undertaker would see old goals of revenge in Snake's cinematic records and could potentially turn him against the Phantomhives, through creation of his "episodes" by cherry-picking the memories and goals that would compel him to seek that revenge again. If that happens, we could get Snake confronting our earl and Sebastian... where Sebastian fulfills the implied threat he makes (to Baldo, about any servant who turns against their master) in ch51.
So, there's that.
Then we have a couple other things to discuss: the current date and Snake's mother.
It's December 9, 1889. This works great with my Mother3 theory, which states the contract should end before our earl is officially 14 years old. December 13, 1889 is the eve of that birthday, and it's also a Friday the 13th. This is highly symbolic because of when his father is born and when his paternal grandmother dies. I'm sure there are absolutely zero coincidences in this.
We will go back a few days (again) for the start of our earl's and Sebastian's assignment in Brighton, then we will catch up to December 9th with them. During this time and soon after, they will receive word about the other three assignments, as word trickles in. Or perhaps they are bombarded with all the reports in quick succession. Then we've got another four days for them to finish not just their own assignment but also their contract. Perhaps their assignment finishes around the same time as the others. If so, they have three or four more days to address whatever they have learned.
Now onto Snake's mother. She's based on a real person, or a combination of a few people in a notable family. My own initial research pulled up a Fanny Kemble, who was a British actress who lived in this time period but was too old to be Snake's mother. She bore a daughter named Sarah (Kemble) Butler, but Sarah wasn't an actress. Fanny was well known as a former actress and an abolitionist -- who separated from her husband (Butler), partly over disagreement about slavery -- and returned to the stage, where she renewed her focus on the works of William Shakespeare... performing public readings of his plays.
Discussing the chapter in Discord, I got word -- from @mjmj2994 -- about a Sarah (Kemble) Siddons who was an actress, though she was from the mid-18th to early 19th century. Her mother was also a Sarah Kemble. Turns out that Sarah Siddons (née and a.k.a. Sarah Kemble) was an aunt to the Fanny Kemble I'd found! Small world, eh? Anyway, Sarah Kemble/Siddons (wiki article here) became known as the "queen of tragedy" for her portrayal of Lady Macbeth and other Shakespearean tragic characters -- including numerous cross-dress performances as Hamlet himself. Even though Yana-san would have to change the timeline to fit our Sarah Kemble, this is most likely the historical reference for her. Here's more information about the Kemble family line and their extensive involvement with the acting industry.
Our Snake comes from an esteemed family of actors, and I suppose we are to assume he's an issue who was so quickly covered up and forgotten that he was perhaps never even named. Who was his true father? And how did he come to have such strong snake-like traits? We might never know.
Now we wait to see if this reaper does anything about Doll. And then onto our earl and Sebastian in Brighton!
