Kyle Mantyla at RWW:
Right-wing activist Mark Meckler is calling for New York City to be expelled from the United States in response to the conviction of former President Donald Trump for trying to cover up his adulterous affair with an adult film actress out of fear that its revelation would hurt his 2016 presidential campaign. Meckler is a radical Christian nationalist who serves as president of the Convention of States Foundation which seeks to get state legislatures to call for a dangerous Article V convention that will propose constitutional amendments to dramatically limit the power of the federal government.
From the start of Trump’s trial, Meckler has repeatedly demanded that Republicans “engage in full lawfare” against Democrats as retribution, calling on every district attorney in every conservative county in every red state to bring “the most brutal changes we can possibly bring” against every Democrat they can. But now Meckler has kicked things up a notch by calling for New York City to be walled off and removed from the union. “We ought to build a wall around New York City. We ought to close off the bridges and we ought to separate them from the United States of America,” Meckler declared, saying he was only being “semi-facetious.” “There is no rule of law in New York City anymore. There is no due process in New York City anymore. There is no United States Constitution in New York City anymore. It operates as if it doesn’t believe in the rule of law, it doesn’t believe in the United States Constitution, so let’s just cut them out. Let them figure it out on their own. Let’s see how well New York City does without the rest of the country.”
Deranged MAGA Cult member Mark Meckler wants NYC expelled from the US in retaliation of the verdict that convicted Donald Trump on 34 felonies regarding business records falsification.

John Birch Society (JBS) and the Convention of States
I have been a COS supporter since this latest run was started. JBS has yet to convince me it's not the right thing to do.
JBS points out the moral decay and how socialism is the inevitable outcome. While I agree, I also look to the bible and how each time Israel (or Nineveh, for that matter) drifted too far away, they eventually turned back ... I believe we are at the beginning of that turn. The argument that we are in decay and, therefore, cannot handle the responsibility of proposing amendments is not a good one since morality is still very prevalent in our country; we are just at a point where the immoral make the noise.
The claim the COS will "draft a new constitution" is, IMHO, a scare tactic. Article V says that I may only provide amendments, not a rewrite. There are two paths to amendments: 2/3 of Congress or a Convention and 3/4 of the states legislatures approve OR 3/4 of the "Conventions" approve.
My complaint about the COS is that Article V is very vague on how this CONVENTION would look. Some say it would be the House and Senate, while others say it will be 1 person from each state. We already know that Congress is corrupt, and one person could easily be corrupted. That would be disastrous if evil crept evil corrupted 3/4 of the COS.
My interpretation would be that Amendments would be proposed in a NATIONAL Convention, and 3/4 of the state's legislatures (or state conventions) would need approval. This interpretation comes from the following statement: "or by Conventions in three fourths thereof." I believe the first mention ("call a Convention") is for proposing Amendments, and the second is plural for ratification. I believe this means that once the COS is finished, the states can ratify the proposed amendments through the legislature or a state convention. Because of this, I believe the COS is a safe alternative to amending the Constitution. *** Note: I am not a lawyer, but rather an engineer, so therefore I read the Constitution as a specification:-)

My favorite thing is people who define what is and isn't genocide purely on vibes, which shows how uneducated they're on the topic. "This is genocide and this is not because I feel like it". Anyway, here's the definition from the Genocide Convention:

"Harris is Black and Indian American. When asked if he agreed with comments from some Republicans who claim Harris has political power because of “diversity, equity and inclusion,” Trump falsely suggested Harris has changed how she discussed her racial identity.
“She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage,” Trump said. “I didn't know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don't know, is she Indian or is she Black?"
Harris is a member of a historically Black sorority, attended Howard University, one of the most prominent historically Black colleges in the country, and was a member of the Congressional Black Caucus when she was a U.S. senator from California."

Look, I know the genocide on the Palestinians is fucking awful. Innocent people are dying and suffering, and Biden certainly hasn't helped with that in the slightest
But, U.s citizens of voting age need to understand that we need to fix this country first before we can focus our efforts on other countries.
If you don't vote, it's a vote for trump. If you vote third party, it's a vote for trump. Trump will make Palestinian's lives worse.
Harris has called for a ceasefire. She's the best we can get, and honestly she's leagues better than Biden ever was.
She supports woman's rights and reproductive care. She supports LGBTQ+ and trans rights. She wants to unite this country, and she can't do that without a vote.
I may not be old enough to vote, but as a trans minor, this election is more important than ever.
Please, I beg, go out and vote for Harris this year. Vote like your life depends on it because for some of us, it does.

im sorry because i know my thoughts should be focused on palestine right now. but i can't stop thinking about what all this means for the future. my parents, my grandparents, me, we've all taken for granted a world where even in war there are rules adhered to. there have always been war crimes but in general all across the world it was safe to shelter in schools, temples, hospitals. anyone bearing the red cross/crescent could be trusted. no side would disguise their soldiers as humanitarian aid and invade a refugee camp
palestine will be free, but even when it is those rules of war will still have changed. now we know the US will not abide by the geneva convention who can risk following it? my children will live in a world with a free palestine one day, but they will never get to live in a world where shelters, medics, and aid mean safety. and every death caused by this rewriting of the rules of war is directly attributable to israel and the US's genocide
