[incorrect] Fastest Growing Fandoms on AO3 This Week (05/13/2024)

Every week I pull data on how many fics are in each fandom and compare to the previous week, then calculate the percentage increase to determine fastest growing fandoms.  Since this naturally skews towards smaller fandoms, I have included the same data filtered to Over 1k, 5k, & 10k fics.

Okay so if you'll see an earlier post I made, I fixed a bug last week that ensured fic counts include locked fics again. Since last week's numbers were before the fix and the percentage compares last week and this week, all the fandoms with high locked fic % (mostly RPF) are showing on this week's "fastest growing" analysis. Not quite accurate, but it will fix itself next week. Sorry y'all!

Well, my fingers might've accidentally slipped, and I ended up writing a cricket RPF. But I couldn't resist. Pat and Abhi, for some reason unknown to me, are such a good pair.

So, if you are interested, do check this out. It will make me very happy.

every time i think about dan and phil becoming the internet’s go-to example of the Dangers of Shipping Real People it makes me so exhausted. for their entire fourteen year career together they have encouraged people to write fic about them and draw fanart and generally “be creative” as they always phrase it. dan specifically, outside of 2012/2013 when he was aggressive towards fans pestering him about it, at one point said he likes reading fic and that he’s often surprised about how good they can be. hell, they wrote fanfic of themselves in their own published book and hired a popular fanartist to illustrate a manga of them.

and then dan came out. and in his video he mentioned how stressful it was to suddenly blow up and have a bunch of people speculating about his relationship, and how it triggered him due to his trauma from being heavily bullied in school. and then followed up the segment talking about how past that point the fans’ support was actually very healing for him, and hearing people tell him that he had helped them be comfortable with who they were without him even being out was one of the things that made him confident in coming out in the first place.

but the people who write angry posts about the evils of rpf or whatever don’t care about dan and phil’s actual opinions. they saw or heard about how annoying the fans were, heard along a thousand-step telephone game that dan and phil hate their fans, and have now christened them the platonic ideal of creators whose lives were ruined because of shippers. it’s ridiculous. it’s unfounded. and it’s disrespectful to the actual existence of the people they’re propping up to support their argument

not to sound loud about that on main but one of the very few rpf conspiracies that count (in my mind, it isn't even a conspiracy tbh) is holliday grainger and françois arnaud like i know there aren't enough bts stories about them but sorry their chemistry was too unparalleled that we couldn't help but think they were dating!! but i also think about holly and david getting cast as a couple in a short film because of their chemistry...then i think about david and françois clicking immediately on their first day on the borgias set, watching the godfather trilogy together in budapest, going on road trips, celebrating each other's birthdays (by throwing parties for each other or simple posts social media), and a decade later, still having that strong bond, david inviting françois on his podcast to reminisce their show... and if i said borgiacest ot3 canon irl then what?

I am currently writing a baseball rpf for one of my pairings and it is getting a little out of hand, length-wise. I think I'm going to have to split it into three chapters if not four.

I'm worried I've already flooded the community by posting too many stories too quickly, so I want to figure out how the community might prefer I post this story.

The interviewer doesn't quite catch it, "-y, the both of you are always booked and busy. How do you find time for each other?"

Pedro thinks, but is distracted when you walk up from behind him. He looks back when you place a hand on his shoulder. Immediately, he's forgotten all about the question and dotes on you. He brushes a hand on your cheek, asking you if you're okay. You whisper something but then catch the camera. You give a bashful smile, "oh, sorry to interrupt."

The interviewer immediately waves a hand, "oh, don't worry about it."

Pedro mutters something and kisses your hand. He holds it as he looks back to the interviewer. He opens his mouth then shakes his head, "sorry, what was the question?" Pedro laughs.

The woman chuckles then moves closer to you, "you know what, I'm sure people are dying to know, what's something you newlyweds like to do together?"

Pedro instantly turns to you.

You purse your lips in thought.

"I-"

"Watching movies," you say.

"I-" Pedro starts again, looking back to the interviewer, "I don't think we can say what we like to do."

*crickets*

Pedro looks at you, expression mischievous.

You stare back at him, eyes like daggers.

He holds back a laugh and leans into the mic, turning to the camera, "I can't say it. Talk to my lawyer."

The interviewer laughs and so do you, begrudingly.

"Talk to my lawyer," Pedro repeats proudly, breaking into a wide mouthed smile.

"Ok," you mutter, "pack it up, Pascal."
