Thinking about how during April, last year, I was anxious about my future. I almost thought 2024 would be me wasting away on my bed. Thank God that was not the case. Yes, the second half of that year had me breaking my back over all sorts of calamities, but I would rather be tired of doing something than being tired of inactivity.

Last year my screen was grey with to-do stickers from 2020. Never thought I would be the person who says this...but maybe...the grey really did reflect the blandness of my life. (Jk. I changed it to a picture of hydrangeas later. I.e the one on the left. )

This year I am finally somewhere writing a very boring study material. But hey, at least I am NOT slowly decomposing and turning into my bedsheet.

PC update time!!

My GPU (Nvidia GTX 970) needed a replacement, which meant a new motherboard meaning a new CPU and memory. So, costly, ... but here's the replacement:

AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT :))

Out with the old, in with the new

My biggest change in my brain is however the monitor set up. I had an old screen, on the left side, as a second monitor. Now, with Ephron's old monitor, I have set my main screen on the left.

(still need to tweak the colour settings)

I'll get used to it quickly I hope!

But yay fancy PC again!! Even the computer store owner said it was a very good choice :D

(the old computer parts are going to a friend who'll reuse them seeing as they still work fine. we just have too many outdated PC's ourselves already)

acording to my doctor I have silent migraines but I'm choosing to believe that it's the ghosts of all the crt tvs and desktop monitors I put magnets on as a kid

Lately, I've been distracted with all sorts of things-- I want to write, animate, code, game-- everything but schoolwork appeals to me.

Though I try to push for productivity, what really call to me are the self-led projects.

Every time I lose motivation, I find myself saying, "it's okay, I can always become a journalist." "I still have my music to keep me afloat!" "maybe I can drop out and make an indie game." "If I just get enough money to invest in Nvidia..." Feckless attempts at leaving hard work for comfort-- I know I'll never survive thinking like that.

I just need to hold out for a few more years, and maybe, I'll be comfortable enough to pursue passion...

After a month of experimenting, installing various distros on my laptops and my little MC server box I somewhat impulsively bought a 1TB SSD, put Nobara on a stick, shrunk a secondary windows partition on my big HDD, and officially starting dual booting Linux on my PC with it as my main OS on the system. It was rather scary but I still have Windows as a back up and I've actually made myself extremely comfortable with my setup so far! :D

It is currently in its early stages but I've got my vital programs on, figured out some extra customization stuff, lost plenty of time just looking at the various toys I installed on the terminal like cava, and now I'm thinking about properly doing it up! I should probably get a different wallpaper for my second monitor as bellow Firefox it is the same as the my main screen on the right, but eh- I'll do it later.

So uh- I guess I'm, fully a part of the Linux gang?

Welp, I have a Desktop PC now. Upon my problem from yesterday - aka "I cannot play Veilguard - my work buddies frankensteined a PC together from old parts they had lying around. Which ended me with the fanciest graphics card I ever had in my entire life. I need to add a hard drive into it (because right now the hard drive in there is 128 GB, which... is barely enough to run windows 11, let alone put any games on there), and I think once my money for next month is there, I will probably get myself a DVD player to put into it. Because, you know, that way I could actually WATCH MY DARN DVDs AGAIN!

Right now it is just hooked up to the TV as a fancy console, but let's face it. Eventually there will be something I need to do for uni, that would be kinda nice if I had a bigger CPU for. And then I will just hook it up and use it as a proper PC, I guess. Huh.
