He’d gotten good at telling when a rad storm was coming; he could say it was a humming sound his ears were tuned to pick up or a slight change in color of the clouds, but really it was instinct. It wasn’t like this in the Capital Wasteland, not with the Glowing Sea so close. 

But Devil had been here long enough to know when to move, when to argue, and when to say fuck you to what little decorum he had and grab his hire by the waist. 

The bus wasn’t the best option, but truthfully Devil hadn’t expected the storm to roll in so damn fast. He didn’t have time to get to anything more secure, but at least the bus still had a ceiling to it. Devil didn’t acknowledge any of her complaining until she was sitting and safe. He stomped back to the door to close it as securely as he could, then came back to shoulder off his pack and start digging around for some Rad-X. 

“Do you only ever complain? Part of hiring me is trusting me to keep your ass alive.” A pause. “Shit. Do you have any Rad-X on you-?”

One Piece AU idea - Fallout 4 Crossover Part 1

general premise is as follows (subject to change)

Factions

Railroad -> Revolutionary Army

Railroad splinter group -> Heart pirates

Enclave -> Celestial Dragons -> Gorosei are influencing the NCR

NCR -> World Government

Institute -> Germa 66 -> has a alliance with the Enclave

SRB -> CP9 etc.

Nukaworld Raider/bosses -> Pack (Beast pirates), Disciples (Big Mom pirates), Operators (Donquixote pirates). -> Blackbeard is trying to be the Overboss.

Nukaworld splinter group -> Kid pirates (was a small time gang that got absorbed)

Previous Minute Men -> was led by General Gol D Roger

Plot? -> the NCR is invading the Commonwealth (under orders of the Enclave) to "bring order" to Boston. The Minute Men tried to fight them off but failed (Rodger was executed, the one piece is exists).

Devil Fruit are replaced with mutations (can still be caused by fruit) known as Genos ,and are considered the 4th generation of super mutants but no one is entirely sure how it works.

Characters (in development)

Sanji (Synth - Gen 4 Prototype) - Was previously at the Institute as a prototype of a new generation of synths, with initial plans for him to be a new type of Courser. However was 'Born' with emotions/sentience. Fled with the help of the Railroad and Reiju. Had a mind wipe and now lives in Dimond City with Zeff (ex-raider) and works at Power Noodle (he can understand Takahashi like how Nick Valentine can). Friends with Usopp (runs Dimond City Radio and is the Railroad agent who helped Sanji escape and relocate after his mind wipe), Takahashi (is secretly relived someone else can understand them), and Nick Valentine (helped Zeff after he left the raiders, knows Sanji is a synth and acts like a weird uncle at times).

Robin (Synth - Gen 3 - Ex Courser) - Prior to gaining her sentience, was previously at the Institute operating in the Synth Retention Bureau. However slowly gained emotions through interacting and later saving Chopper and Jinbe who were both imprisoned experiments of the Institute. Now on the run from the Institute and currently hiding with Chopper and Jinbe, where they meet Franky who takes them in to live at GoodNeighbor. is now working at The Third Rail as a bar tender/back up singer for Magnolia. Is still haunted by her actions as a Courser.

Chopper (Intelligent mutant reindeer) - Was born in the Institute as a experiment to test the mental capabilities of a herbivorous mammals when exposed to a modified form of FEV . Was kept in captivity and raised by Dr Hiriluk and Dr Kureha in secret, as he was more emotionally intelligent then what the experiment allowed along side Jinbe. Was then discovered and befriended Robin who found the secret lab by a teleportation glitch. After the lab was raided by SRB looking for Robin, was assisted by Dr Hirluk in escaping who sacrificed himself to let the others escape the facility. He is now on the run from the Insitute with Robin and Jinbe, currently living with Franky at Goodneighbor working at the Memory Den. (Dr Kureha is alive and assisting the Railroad at the Memory den with Chopper).

Jinbe (Intelligent Deathclaw (quantum deathclaw)) - was captured and experimented on by the Institute. Was kept hidden in the secret lab with the help of Dr Kureha and Fisher Tiger (who was also an experiment). Helped the doctors to raise Chopper (he is pretty much Chopper's uncle/dad) and Robin with her new emotions. Tried to help the other Intelligent experiments escape but was unable to save Fisher Tiger, lost track of the others during the SRB Raid. Is now on the run with Robin and Chopper from the Institute, currently living with Franky at Goodneighbor. Works part-time at Daisy's Discounts (buys Chopper and Robin books with Daisy's help finding them)

Yet more Baldur's Gate 3 characters! I'm not trying to catch up on the 65+ Fallout 4 characters, I swear, I just happen to come up with cool new ideas for characters and backstories all the time. And to be fair, I have managed to progress my first character Anji. She and the team has reached act 3 and is in the suburbs of Baldur's Gate now. Anyway. Characters.

Malenka Deepforge. Got really sick and tired of being the fourth kid in the family with no prospects, so she made a deal with a devil and went to the surface. That went tits up pretty quickly when she got snatched by an ilithid ship and had a squiggly-wiggly worm put in her brain. It seems to come with some benefits, true, but she's still trying to figure out if it's better to keep it or try to get rid of it. Also, surface folks are really weird. Nice, but weird.

(I thought the duergar females looked really cool when I went to Grymforge with Anji and wanted to make one for a playthrough. Didn't want to make her a fighter or barbarian though, or rogue, so I went warlock with infernal patron (since my other warlock has an archfey patron. Like Liessa, Malenka also got a change in eyecolor as an effect of the warlock bond. They were grey originally, not red with a hint of flames in them as they are now.)

Oyani Nadano of Koshmar on the Moonshae islands. Her family lived near the coast rather than the town of the royals, and Oyani grew up with the almost ever-present wind blowing across the moor where her family did a mix of farming and magical research. To Oyani though, they wind didn't merely blow, it sang. And when there was a storm, it was an orchestra. It didn't take too long for her father to figure out that she was a sorcerer. Her mother and father did their best to support her in learning about her magic, but with her father being a wizard and an alchemist and her mother being a herbalist and tanner, there was a limit to what they could teach her. Oyani didn't mind, the wind and the storms taught her and that her parents tried meant a lot. They did ground her when she got into a fight with her sister and set fire to the barn with a lightning strike though. She loved her home, but as she grew into a teenager and a young woman she got restless. The wind called her to go and explore, and so she did. Amn, Cormyr, Anauroch, the High Forest, Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate. It was at the later that she got grabbed by the nautiloid when it suddenly appeared above the city, and now she finds herself not merely exploring and going where the wind takes her, but having to deal with an ilithid tadpole in her head and a cult bent on taking over Baldur's Gate. (I just wanted to make a homage to one of my favorite X-Men characters, Storm, so I made a storm sorcerer that's like an AU relative or some such. :) )

Gat is a drow mercenary from Menzoberranzan. He hard a hard life growing up, as most drow males in Menzoberranzan do. His spent most of his time in a gang on the streets, not because his parents were dead or abusive, but because they were lowborn commoners with no status to speak of. Skill with weapons and a cool head in a fight enabled him to upgrade from street gang to mercenary company. It was dirty and dangerous, but it earned him more money than he had ever had before in his life. He was even selected to go on a surface raid after two years in the company. That meant having to deal directly with one of Lolth's priestesses, but he kept his mouth shut and head down and managed to mostly escape notice. Having done well on his first raid, Gat was allowed to go on a second raid, and then a third. On the third surface raid though, things went badly. The group was discovered by surface folk on the way to the target, and not just any surfacers, but warriors with two wizards for support. They fought, but the Lolth priestess and the lieutenant was killed and the group was scattered. And then he was snatched up by a nautiloid.

He's still a little twitchy around surface people, but recognize that he needs allies to deal with the tadpole issue. In fact, despite the tadpole, he might be even better off than with the mercenary band, since there's no priestesses of Lolth around. (Gat is an experiment to see how well I can do with a dex-based fighter. Had to shift a lot of stats around at the start, but at least initially things seems to go well.)

(Also, Anji got to meet Tara. I like tressym, so it was great to finally see her. :) )

Elena Tiama Sovindra Mazandor de Kalandia is a noble of Baldur's Gate, and a sorcerer with a draconic bloodline. She has of course been trained in sorcery by tutors her family hired, but the focus of her education has been political. She's is well-versed in history as well as negotiations, trade and political analysis, public speaking and conversation. She was in fact looking into how to deal with Lord Gortash encroaching on on several of her family's businesses when the nautiloid appeared over Baldur's Gate and she was one of the people snatched. Needless to say that was not on her agenda for the day, and she has had to shift her focus rather drastically to deal with the ilithid tadpole issue and simply survival on the frontiers. Fortunately, she has found allies who are in a situation similar to her own, including Wyll, the somewhat famous Blade of Frontiers. She knew of him, but had not met him before. She was pleasantly surprised, for the most part, and hope he will be the key to dealing with this whole mess.

Dawn Solthiri is a wood elf greenwarden from the Kingswood in Cormyr. Despite her strong ties to the feywild from her mother, an eladrin of the Summer Court, Dawn rather enjoyed towns and cities as much as she did the deep forest of the Kingswood and the fields around Eveningstar. Because of this the Baron of Eveningstar, Tarkhal Crownsilver, had trained her and a few other greenwardens to work a spies as well as scouts and rangers, complementing their hunting and tracking skills with lockpicking and how to sneak around undetected in town and cities too.

She and four other greenwardens were in Baldur's Gate to retrieve a few tomes and scrolls for the Baron and his spymaster Willowsong, when the nautiloid arrived above the city and Dawn got snatched up. She doesn't know if the other three were also snatched or got away, but she did not spot them on the ilithid ship when she escaped with two other people who had also gotten tadpole'd.

She knows that she should get back to Baldur's Gate, or at least find a way to contact Tarkhal or Willowsong, but things have gotten... complicated. She's been told by a surprisingly friendly lich that she was "foretold" to meet him;

The githyanki she met is really insistent that her people is the best way to deal with the tadpole and;

There's a whole host of goblins about to descend on a druid grove with a bunch of tiefling refugees sheltering in it. Which the druid in charge doesn't like. SNAFU, as the Baron sometimes says.

dear yuletide letter 2023.

First of all, thanks for offering one of my fandoms! I mostly said what I wanted to say about the specific fandoms in my optional details, so the goal of this letter is to build on the initial vibe for your consideration.

General Likes

stories about complicated relationships. I love stories that explore messy relationships, including (especially) platonic relationships. I love when authors explore the place where intent fails to connect with action. I like stories that examine codependent relationships, toxic relationships, deeply flawed relationships.*

genfic. I've enjoyed plenty of romantic fiction, but my favourite relationships to read about are complicated guardian-child relationships and friendships.

Sad or Manic Failures. Think Harrowhark in Harrow the Ninth, Spamton G. Spamton from Deltarune, Adachi from Person 4, Beanix in Apollo Justice. The desperation, the futility of life, the unrelenting temptation to give into despair, mhuh! It's exquisite.

people caught up in Authoritarian/Religious systems. If we matched on Deeplight, you're probably already acquainted with Frances Hardinge's masterful explorations of this theme. (And if you are not, I highly recommend checking out Frances Hardinge's novels.) Regardless, we're talking doubt. We're talking desire for control. We're talking distorted thinking and self-serving thinking and delusion. We're talking justifying the unjustifiable. We're talking devastated self worth. We're talking feeling out of step with everyone around you. You get it.

characters who refuse to give up their integrity. I love characters who struggle with temptation and ultimately give in, but I also love characters who struggle with temptation but ultimately stand firm. Also, characters who have given in to the easy thing, but then resolve to do the right thing---especially when the motivation for doing the easy thing is the desire to be loved.

strong worldbuilding/atmosphere. I like stories to have a plot, but a well-developed atmosphere/sense of place is essential as far as I'm concerned. I have enjoyed the most pointless, meandering stories on the strength of the atmosphere/worldbuilding. I love stories that have a fairytale-type atmosphere, or a haunting, surreal atmosphere (think anything by Patricia McKillip, much of Gothic literature, some of Frances Hardinge's novels e.g., Cuckoo Song and Unraveller).

*Important caveat: I enjoy fictional explorations of messed up people and how being victimized can mess you up and messed up relationships in general; that doesn't mean I'm signing off on the idea that you can rape someone and still be said to love them. There might be some idea of comfort in familiarity (the devil you know), but let's not retreat into outright abuse apologia.

General Dislikes

I'm not a big fan of fluff. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't hate it, but I don't love it either.

I'm also not a fan of modern AUs. Typically, the worldbuilding is a big part of my interest in a particular work of fiction, and modern AUs tend to render that a moot point.

Jenny LeClue: Detectivu

I already said this in my optional details, but it's worth saying again: Jenny LeClue is an awesome game. It has a great sorta-spooky atmosphere, gorgeous graphics, shocking revelations, clever puzzles, and funny, sympathetic characters. I love Jenny's reluctant friendship with CJ. I love how dedicated Jenny is to helping her mom and discovering the truth, and I love how she learns to be a better friend to Keith and Suzie.

If you do like to write fluff, this would be my preferred fandom for it. (But, of course, you are free to do what you want.) A slice of life fic about Jenny and her friends solving a mystery would be fun. I think there's a lot of potential in exploring the fallout of the game while Jenny is forced to cool her heels after her mom/the Dean disappears. She's found out so much, but doesn't have a lot of room to act, which would be very frustrating for her.

The Lion In Winter (1968)

Watching The Lion In Winter for the first time is such a crazy experience because the film creates such a strong illusion of shit happening. Characters deliver ultimatums, overhear incriminating accusations, and threaten to kill each other, but then the film ends and you realize that nothing has fundamentally changed. It's like they're trapped in purgatory, incapable of moving on or changing in any significant way.

I don't have a lot to add to my optional details here, but I do find the idea of some sort of future fic interesting since a) my understanding is that in history Eleanor outlives Richard and b) the characters in the film seem to have no future; instead, they are doomed to play out the same roles and actions for the rest of existence.

Deeplight (Frances Hardinge)

Frances Hardinge is my favourite author, and Deeplight is yet more evidence of how great she is. I love the worldbuilding in Deeplight: the mysterious Cataclysm, and the creepy Lovecraftian gods, and the even creepier priesthood, and the sea-kissed, and the tension between the Myriad and the continent, and the godware contraptions.

I also love the characters. Hark's realization that he doesn't owe Jelt his life is so !!! I also enjoyed the mad scientist aspect of Dr. Vyne. Plus, Selphin's determination was very cool.

I'm super intrigued by the former religion of the Myriad. The idea that priests were specifically tasked with keeping the people afraid is such a crazy reveal, but so on-brand for Frances Hardinge. And then you find out about the origin of the gods and it's like... wtf??!!!

There were no nominated characters for this one, so you'll have a lot of freedom if you write for this fandom. And you know, if you want to write a worldbuilding fic with original characters, I'd be cool with that. I really like the characters in Deeplight, so I'll miss them, but the world is just so cool here, so feel free to explore that if you want. I have faith in you. I think the priesthood and their role in placating the gods in particular would be very interesting to explore.

So I'm making a personal Fallout 4 AU based off Devil May Cry 3, because Nick and Vergil have my heart in a chokehold and they won't let me go.

Anyways, I got most of the characters down in my head. Nick as Dante, DiMA as Vergil, Nora as Lady, and Father as Arkham. But I'm having trouble figuring out who Jester would be. I'm torn between Synth Shaun, since it'd be similar to the relationship between Arkham using Jester as a projection of himself, or Kellogg, who is the main line of defense to getting to the Institute in the game.

I'm leaning towards Synth Shaun, but Kellogg as Jester would be funny as fuck to watch.

Well, first, thank you for not insulting me or being anonymous. I've had some bad experiences with that.

Second, it depends on what you mean by "like" Mind Meld Part Deux. If you mean angsty rottmnt Donnie-focused fics, I know a few good ones:

Hi, since I’m new here, I just want to take the time to share my work in case people are interesting in reading my stuff. Here’s a list of my SQ work complete with summaries. Going from newest to oldest.

1. Dead Giveaway: After getting Killian back from the Underworld, Emma has to deal with the fallout. Regina is gone and Emma's lost.

2. In the Public Eye: Emma and Regina are going through some martial problems and the entire town knows about it. The entire town also has opinions on it. They’re not helping at all.

3. Home, Sweet Home: Emma and Regina are engaged and getting married. They have to plan the wedding. Shenanigans ensue. It is them, after all. (This is the final part of a five part series called Who We Are). G!P, Alpha/Omega relationship.

4. Like a Look of Agony: After the exhausting adventure in Neverland, Regina, Emma, and Henry return to Storybrooke to more turmoil that starts with Regina giving up to the Charmings. Everyone is looking for Regina to be punished, except Emma. Somehow, Regina's punishment becomes Emma's as well. It gets worse from there.

5. Things Money Can’t Buy: After the death of her mother, Emma meets her birth father and he's rich. He's also annoying. He wants her to marry a man and brings it up every chance he gets. She's sick of hearing it, so she plots her revenge. Taking a female escort to his fancy party doesn't go exactly how she thought it would, though. G!P/Futa.

6. Tales of True Witchcraft: Emma gives a drunken lecture on what Regina means to her, not knowing Regina is listening.

12. Always Here: Sequel to Right Here. Regina and Emma try to live their lives, build their relationship, and raise their sons. They're working on being happy, like any other couple. But, Hook and Robin are there, attempting to stand in their way and tear their family apart. There might be even more sinister forces at play looking to separate Storybrooke's new favorite couple. (This was part three in a five part series called Right There).

13. Identity Crisis: While fighting a random villain, the group have a debate over ethnic identity.

14. Food for the Soul: Regina wanted to make Emma's first rut memorable, special. Emma takes things a step further, taking their family and relationship to another level. ***15. Here and There: This is a side story for Mulan and Marian. It's set during Right Here. The story chronicles Marian and Mulan's journey from bad situations to each other as they learn to live in this world. Some people throw obstacles in their way, but luckily there are people to help. 16. Who We Are: Regina and Emma can hide from everyone, but each other. Until now, they were busy enough for it to not matter. Now, they’re affecting each other in ways where everyone might find out their secrets. Lives could be changed if they give in, especially their own. (This is part one of a five part series called Who We Are). G!P, Alpha/Omega relationship.

17. Right Here: Regina's been sick and Emma has a theory. Regina's pregnant. Regina thinks that's ridiculous, but Emma turns out to be right. From then on, Emma and Henry try to help Regina make it through a pregnancy that she doesn't seem very thrilled about. SwanQueen. Swan-Mills family moments. Reminders of OutlawQueen.

18. Lost in the Translation: Regina thinks the connection she feels with Emma is all in her mind. She says as much the day before Emma is going to marry Hook. Emma has to act fast before she loses Regina.

19. Devil’s Spawn: Set during/after "Save Henry." Pan spills a family secret that turns Regina's world upside down. At first, she wants justice or revenge. When she loses control of herself, she just wants to not feel like a thing. Emma, knowing that feeling, tries to help Regina maintain while not falling apart herself. Together, they go on a journey to discover just who they are, with Henry there to support them. 

20. Out of the Darkness: Set at the end of Season 4. Emma shoves the dagger into the Darkness, but things don't go exactly as expected. But, then again, how could they expect Regina's grandmother to pop up? And, crazier still, how could they expect her to put their family together?

21. Making a Life: AU, set in a modern day Enchanted Forest/Fairy Tale realm.Emma and Regina are enjoying an affair that has become something more. Unfortunately, Regina's engaged and scared her mother will find out about the affair. Emma has huge family issues to sort out, like having one. It gets worse when they're seen together in a hotel. Will this blow up in their faces or can they beat the odds?

22. Little Girl Lost: Set after There's No Place Like Home, but ignores season 4. Emma has a magical mishap and Regina has to take care of her. Added to that, Henry has to learn to share Regina with Emma, who can be very bratty. They might all end up traumatized.

23. Under Her Skin: Set at the start of season 2. Instead of the wraith, Rumplestiltskin goes for something a little more personal, sinister, and slower when it comes to killing Regina. He curses Regina and Emma stays by her side as Regina wastes away. They have roughly a month to find a cure for a curse without one. If anyone can do the impossible, it should be them. Maybe.

24. Lady In Waiting: A side story to the Queen and Her Lady. See Lady's side of the story.

25. The Queen and Her Lady: Set after Welcome to Storybrooke. Regina is in a dark place after the death of her mother and Henry walking away from her. She locks herself away in her house, shutting out the world. She is ready to completely give up when an injured puppy ends up in her backyard. She saves the puppy ... or maybe the puppy saves her.

Ranking Every SPN Season Premiere

15) 11.01 Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire. For an otherwise strong season, s11 sure started and ended in D tier. Not only is there a baffling amount of screen time spent on Cas’s weird and uninteresting rage spell, Crowley’s sexcapades, and too many one-episode characters, but the whole thing is sewn together with uneven flashbacks. The core concept itself is off: Darkness-as-rage-zombie-infection feels totally out of place in the rest of the season, and any personal fallout from 10.23 is mostly brushed aside. The only thing I like about 11.01 is Sam’s determination to find a cure and save everyone, and the mention of the cage.

14) 10.01 Black. Just because I do quite like demon!Dean’s apathy doesn’t mean it’s gripping television: he’s much better in 10.02 and 10.03, and most of 10.01 is spent on Crowley’s overdramatic griping. Cole is objectively very silly, but, look, I’m only flesh: Sam bloodied and in a sling and tied to a chair is good content, and rescues this one from D tier. 

13) 15.01 Back and to the Future. Just like 11.01, 15.01 has to brush past Dean’s willingness to execute a family member in the previous episode, and it introduces a pretty weak zombies plot. However, it gets major points for Sam’s bullet wound visions, and is generally much better staged than 11.01.  

12) 6.01 Exile on Main St. A genuinely interesting episode for Dean--both his domestic montage and being faced with Samuel are fresh takes on his relationship with family. Soulless is great, but isn’t quite hitting his stride; 6.01 lays groundwork but hasn’t yet built into s6′s greatest strengths. 

11) 3.01 The Magnificent Seven. This one’s kinda campy, but there is some legitimately horrifying imagery, like the guy forced to drink drain cleaner. The deadly sins demons are underwhelming on the whole, but Ruby shows up in fine form, and Sam’s anger with Dean’s willingness to throw his life away establishes a great tone for s3. 

10) 8.01 We Need to Talk About Kevin. Kevin is badass, Amelia is amazingly, unapologetically polarizing, Dean is raw, and I don’t really care about Benny. Sam is in a healthier spot right here than we’ll see him for a long, long time, which tees up his anti-recovery arc quite nicely. 

9) 1.01 Pilot. It’s a solid introduction. Sam and Dean’s chemistry is potent and undeniable from the get-go. The way they work together so well, layered on top of so much conflict both spoken and unspoken, the things they want and the things they deny wanting--their first time interacting as adults out from under their father’s influence. It’s good!

8) 12.01 Keep Calm and Carry On. Look, I pretend to have complex opinions, but actually I am very, very simple: I just want to watch Sam tied to a chair and tortured. This is the best BMoL episode of the season by a long shot. On top of that, Mary’s introduction forces the uncomfortable and fascinating realization that she’s not going to fit quietly into Dean’s expectations. That final scene of Sam hurt and imprisoned without hope is gorgeous and memorable. 12.01 promised a lot for s12, and it’s a shame that most of it didn’t get followthrough.

7) 14.01 Stranger in a Strange Land. These next four are difficult to arrange, because they’re all so different. This episode has pretty much the only even vaguely interesting material AU!Michael gets all season. Far more importantly, Sam has the weight of the world on his shoulders, and it’s a great look. He has a beard, and he’s looking after Nick (!!), and he’s leading a group of hunters, and he declares that Hell itself better stand the fuck down. Sam for King of Hell 2k18. Iconic. 

6) 2.01 In My Time of Dying.  John’s deal, and his directive for Dean to save Sam or kill him, is a major turning point that colors everything for years. The human intimacy of the small-scale family drama, unfolding with no magic besides a terrible soul deal to rely upon, feels personal and real. Plus, Sam and Dean communicate via ouija board.

5) 5.01 Sympathy for the Devil. Meg and Zachariah are both in fine form. The apocalyptic set pieces are teed up and ready to be set loose. Sam jumps on the bandwagon of his own castigation, and it aches. Lucifer’s introduction is quiet, and chilling, and note-perfect.

4) 13.01 Lost and Found. It’s hard to significantly change the landscape of a 13-year-old show, and for the better, but 13.01 does just that. Jack is a breath of fresh air. His dynamics with Sam and Dean are complex and heartbreaking--he asks after his father, Sam locks himself in a cell with him. Dean’s blank absolutism mixes uneasily with Sam’s relentless determination and Jack’s innocence. It’s a wonderful new twist on an old formula.

3) 4.01 Lazarus Rising. Dean crawls out of his own grave, Sam’s with Ruby, Cas blows out windows and burns out eyes. 4.01 throws the mythological doors wide open with the introduction of angels, and ratchets the season up to an apocalyptic scale: it’s awesome. 

2) 9.01 I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here. I am always and forever intrigued by Sam’s Mind Forests. Dean does something unforgivably horrible to Sam, and in doing so, opens the door to a fascinating arc, wherein his choices here and his treatment of Sam are deconstructed and then reconstructed and then deconstructed again. I’ll never get tired of season 9, by which I mean I’ll never get tired of the fallout from the BOLD choice that 9.01 made to put this conflict front and center. 

1) 7.01 Meet the New Boss. If you thought I wasn’t going to put Hallucifer first, you must be extremely new here. Sam’s psychological undoing is chilling and deeply claustrophobic and possibly my favorite thing the show has ever done. On top of that, we have Godstiel’s terrifying purges, Sam and Dean summoning Death in someone’s living room, and even a taste of cosmic horror in LeviaCas. I would tell you how many times I’ve watched 7.01-7.02, but I’ve wholly lost count.
