Question about tattoos, if that's alright! If not, please feel free to ignore this. I have four tattoos, but none were handpokes. I've always been curious about getting one done, perhaps across my hand. Is it truly so painless as you described in the comic? Can you find a professional artist willing to do them? I had one tell me that none would, which was disappointing. Thank you for your time ❤️
based on my experience - YES. it was maybe 2/10 pain for me, it hurt less than getting my ears pierced. it takes a long time and you can kind of feel your skin like. popping. which is a bit weird. i can't say anything about the most painful areas for tattoos but to compare, i have one on my inner bicep next to one of my more painful machine tattoos and i hardly felt the handpoke at all.
you can ABSOLUTELY find professional handpoke artists!!! the idea that you can only get them in someone's dirty basement is outdated, most handpoke artists work in studios and they can be just as clean and professional as machine tattoos. also you can have a nice nap which you don't usually get with most tattoos

WIP Wednesday
Thank you for the tag, @actualalligator (for the tease tuesday tag) @heartstringsduet @paperstorm @sznofthesticks @thisbuildinghasfeelings @carlos-in-glasses 💝
This is a morsel from an upcoming Tarlos fic, "The MovieCation of Carlos Reyes"
TK glanced over at Carlos. “Babe, we can turn this off if you want to”.
“I didn’t say that”. He pointed out.
“I know”. TK scooched closer. If TK had to be recuperating, he was glad that he only needed to have a boot that didn’t go past his knee. “But this is your movie watch,” TK pointed out as Carlos carefully pulled TK into his lap. “If you’re not into it, we can shut it off. You have the ultimate veto power”.
“I appreciate that, baby,” Carlos murmured, kissing TK on the forehead and lightly scratching his scalp. “And this isn’t going to be my favorite movie. But I want to finish it anyway”.
“Really?” TK brightened.
“Well, he’s gone through so much to get them to do the play,” Carlos said. “And now the ACLU is getting involved. I want to see how it turns out. But can I ask you one thing?”
“Of course”. TK nodded eagerly.
“Do they really sing the song he mentioned?” Carlos asked. “The… ‘Rock Me Sexy Jesus’ one?”
“Oh yeah”. TK laughed. “It’s catchy as hell. Is that what you’re objecting to?”
“Well, it feels very blasphemous”. Carlos mumbled. TK pecked his husband on the chin. He really was the cutest person in the world.
“You know,” TK said as he hit play on the remote, “this was directed by the guy who made Dick. And you liked Dick, right?”
“I could say I love Dick, babe,” Carlos growled low in his ear.
“I know,” TK rolled his eyes as Carlos’s hand started roaming. “That’s been well documented. I meant the movie Dick. You liked it”.
Carlos rolled his eyes. “You mean the movie you tricked me into watching by telling me Ryan Reynolds was in it and he appeared on screen for a grand total of two minutes?”
“Only because it was like his second movie ever,” TK protested. “And if I had told you it was about if two teenage girls were responsible for Watergate and bringing down Nixon, I didn’t think you would have gone for it. And besides,” he added, “it has Will Ferrell. Your distrust of Will Ferrell is well documented, too”.
“I didn’t mind him in The Other Guys”. Carlos countered. “He made a decent cop, at least”.

i keep imagining the statehouse as this huge house in the middle of nowhere. the entire property is in the middle of a grassland—yellow-green grass that reaches up to your knees kind of grassland. the plains. and there's a fenced off backyard behind the statehouse, but not more than a few hundred feet after it there's a forest—a temperate deciduous forest, like you find in the eastern U.S., with a creek a little ways in. venture deeper and you'll find a river. there's a mountain backdrop as well, and you know they're huge mountains, but they're so far away they appear a little small.
the house itself is... queen anne meets folk victorian-ish. shades of golden brown and white. there's a paved road leading up to it and a parking lot off to the side, about the size of a decently sized high school parking lot. and the road ends at the house. if you keep driving the other way, though, you eventually make it to town. a fairly urban city, with your standard fast food joints and stores and gas stations and whatnot. it's not the heart of a metropolis, not the suburban edges of it, but a decently populated urban city with a freeway or two running through it. somehow, somewhere, after a bit of an elevation drop maybe, absolutely rural plains gives way to the city. blink and you'll miss it, except no matter what you do, you'll always miss it.
the thing is, i keep imagining the statehouse and the land surrounding it as this little pocket in time and space, that exists on vaguely the same line as where central time meets eastern. the states are immortal, and that's practically magic, so why can't the statehouse be magic as well?

For Drals : 12 and 42.
Tell us everything <3
What’s something that makes them laugh every single time? Be specific!
I had to think about this one, because he's someone who puts on a really stoic face and often has a hard time finding joy in things. however, EVERYONE has something that will make them laugh.
anything that makes Kem (his cringefail watchling buddy) squirm. this includes daedric gore, herbal smells, steam or smoke - if Kem is grossed out, it will make Drals chuckle.
he's a pretty Learned dude, but every now and then Azandar will use a word he's never heard before and it will baffle him to the point of having to laugh about it.
the word "stringent". he just thinks it's so... spongy.
If invited to a TED Talk, what topic would they present on? What would the title of their presentation be?
OK SO in my fic I did make a reference to a dissertation he wrote when he was a Telvanni master, on "temporal resurfacing". As for what that actually is; it's sort of technobabble for what I imagine would be the mathematics behind a lot of the more complex magics relating to time & fate. To "resurface" would be to sand down a process to its bare essentials, therefore simplifying the math needed when adding multiple processes on top of the groundwork. Before his fall into Apocrypha, it was absolutely something he gave lectures on. (they were likely pretty boring and had poor attendance, however)
I think if he were to revisit the topic now he'd call it something more fun like "Temporal Resurfacing: How We Can Learn Mathematics from Mycelium"

hi, i'm not jewish and wouldn't want to speak over anyone, but from my perspective maybe removing plot points that could parallel blood libel and adding more that parallel the anti capitalist angle could be a good start.
removing the eternal youth angle and emphasizing how the power of the companies hinges on exploiting the working conditions of workers instead of experiments on them could be an option? also a character being a class traitor could potentially weaken parallels to power being "birth right" of the secret society imo. there's also always an option to demystify the conspiracy by showing that this current route sounds more interesting, but that the truth is just capitalism and even though it doesn't sounds as exciting it's still very scary.
Ok yeah this is pretty much what I’ve been thinking so far! Thank you for your input :)
As a start I’m planning to remake the Reddit pages and relevant dialogue from the last post to be more “agnos is a major corporation that’s trying to monopolize the market and they’re engaging in shady business practices to be at the forefront of tech and medicine development (at the expense of their workers/sub-companies).”
I think similarly, the focus on the alien tech could be more of a commentary on “how far are we willing to go in the name of science and advancement”, and I’ll definitely cut out the “eternal youth” aspect.
I’m hoping that this is enough to redirect the narrative that the story is establishing, but if anyone feels otherwise please let’s continue the conversation!

HELLO ANNIE oh shit that was in all caps, anyways! what got you into forensics? I wanna change my major soooo bad like you did but im literally in my junior year ALSO youre the epitome of standing on business, love you (ay it back or else!)
Hi there, thank you for the question! I think it was just a curiosity I’ve had in the back of my mind since middle school, but I didn’t think I’d ever get a chance to look into it at all, what with my extensively planned out life. But when I ended up at Greendale, completely out of my element with no foreseeable future… I decided to just have some fun! “Go with the flow”, if you will. It took me a while to work up the confidence to change majors, but ultimately I think it was worth it. I really love forensics, and I think that if you believe it’ll be good for you then you should change too. I really have no idea what it means for you, but choosing to pursue a genuine interest of mine, one that hadn’t been written down on every page slid in front of me since childhood, was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
So, do whatever you feel is best — and I love you too ♡

Not sure if that post is about hp but it does feel like it lol. I understand people wanting to offer alternatives and I myself have a complicated relationship with it, but I wouldn't expect people to necessarily fall in love with alternatives I give them the same way they fell in love with hp.
post in question
HP definitely get this a lot. GoT got this a lot too while it was airing. I've seen it to a lesser extent with same smaller fandoms-- Twilight, for example. All of these series have their problems, in terms of quality, writers/showrunners doing weird shit, and things that make you go hmm within the narrative. But they didn't get massively popular by accident, and whatever drew you in probably isn't something as shallow as "I like magic schools" or "I like vampire romances." So when people are like, "oh, but you can just read THIS instead," as opposed to just "here's some vampire romance novels you could also try," then it's sort of like.... no, not every vampire book is interchangeable? Why are you acting like it is, and like whatever people are getting out of X should automatically also exist in Y?
Also, while we're here, "you're a bad person if you engage with this fandom, and you should only engage with morally-approved media" is actually one of the worst takes this website has churned out. Let's take GoT as an example that's less likely to get me hatemail (although one of my favorite games is looking up the URLs of people who post about how even looking at a HP fic means you are directly donating to bigoted causes and then seeing how long I have to scroll before OP talks about a Disney-owned fandom). GoT has some excellent, complicated female characters. It also has a lot of hypersexualized nudity and gratuitous sexual assault. On lists of "alternative" shows, I would frequently see Netflix's The Witcher. If you haven't seen The Witcher, here's what happens in episode one: the MC meets a complicated female character who wants to kill her rapist. The MC refuses to "pick a side" between her and her rapist. He sleeps with her. Then the woman is killed by the MC. If you were trying to point someone at a high fantasy TV show with dark themes that "treats its women right", why the fuck did you pick The Witcher? Is it because you don't know how to analyze media and just look for a laundry list of Bad Things, like actual on-screen sexual assault? Do you not understand why people were mad about all the sexual assault on a thematic level? Like, okay! You found some obvious bad stuff in GoT, good job! Every other piece of media will have its own Bad Stuff, and it's up to individuals to decide what crosses their own personal lines (which YOU DO NOT GET TO DECIDE) when picking what content they consume.
