tiny rant:
if Disney is gonna be so keen on making live action remakes of their movies, instead of beloved classics why not focus on movies that were considered box office failures?
prime example: THE BLACK CAULDRON
Not many know about this movie but I loved it so much as a kid and it's sad that it wasn't considered popular or well-liked back in its day. I think with proper TLC it could become a modern classic. Bring on Andy Serkis--the guy who played freaking Gollum--to voice Gergy, he's PERFECT! I will accept nothing lower than a PG-13 rating. Make it scary but watchable like the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
IT COULD WORK. IT COULD BE GREAT.
I LOVE U DISNEY BUT YOU'RE KILLING ME.
PLEASE STOP FUCKING UP ALREADY GOOD MOVIES AND GIVE LOVE TO THE ONES THAT REALLY NEED IT MOST!!!!
#unimportant and not my usual thing but just had to put it out there#i have strong feelings regarding this#meg rambles#tiny rant#text post#mini rant#the black cauldron#disney rant

So let me get this straight Nani leaves her only living relative (and one of the best marine biology college and a free ride scholarship) to study on the mainland.
Why?
Because it was unrealistic she would want to take care of Lilo.
Really?
My mom took care of three children and an inept manchild of a partner, was the main breadwinner, and went to night school.
She had me at 18.
But yeah sure being a girlboss means being a selfish asshole who only cares about yourself. Stop forcing american ideals on other cultures.

Ok y'all, I keep seeing these posts and screenshots about the new Lilo and Stitch design and feel I need to get this off my chest while we're at it.
I didn't share this much because I was a minor at the time, but circa 2015-2017 I was a huge Jumba simp. I had screenshots, fanart and all that crap that came along with being a fictional fan girl.
Seeing Jumba 's CGI design has given me a nausea and anger that I couldn't explain to... Anyone really. It's just terrible.
I knew Disney was falling off, but I'd never knew they'll stoop to such a new low. I wasn't like expecting them to do anything good to this movie, I kinda wanted them to not make that remake at all. But seeing the way they made this and went after mine and other people's fictional crushes had made me realize how much Disney doesn't care about their audience.
There are no Disney fans, there is no active franchise, it's just a company.
I don't care for it at all and I hope that at least one person reading this at least understands my pain.

To be honest I always felt like one of the biggest tragedies that happened to Mickey Mouse is how he tends to be treated less of a character and more of a mascot for Disney.
And to be honest, Disney really is to blame here. I can't really blame people for seeing Mickey as a shallow boring mascot when their only exposure to him is him smiling on a t-shirt or coffee mug or maybe seeing an extremely sanitized version on a pre-school cartoon.
As someone who loves cartoon characters, I like to see them get to be themselves. And while a lot of other cartoons fade into obscurity, Mickey has a unique fate where he is still here but him as a character tends to fade instead. We were lucky to get the Rudish cartoons which helped breath life into him and really show that he can be a fun character even if it is a more exaggerated version of him. But it seems like that era is starting to end and I am not sure what will come afterwards.
And with earlier versions of him going into Public Domain soon, I know that we are going to see quite a few takes of him. I know many of those takes are coming from people who see Mickey as a stand in for all of the bad things Disney do and will probably portray him as an evil capitalist or some kind of monster. Which is whatever, I'm not going to be upset about people making their own art on their own feelings (though personally I think the joke got old after everyone tried to copy South Park and Simpsons for the millionth time in a row).
But I also feel like this is a chance to reclaim Mickey as return him as a character. Let him get to be a character with flaws and goals and not just a smiling face on merchandise. It would be nice to get some official Disney projects too. But if Disney won't, we can do it ourselves.

I hate both the old AND new Snow White movies from Disney...
Well Disney totally failed again! I usually hate most of the older movies and like their live action remakes, but this time I hate both the old movie and the live action one. I think they could have made some different changes to the Snow White remake than what they did. I'll also give the problems I have with the old 1937 Snow White movie.
First off, I think the forced race-bending was not working. I don't give a crap about the dwarves or the huntsman being racebent, but why did they have to racebend Snow White, who's skin color is literally mentioned as being white as Snow? I'm fine with having princesses of color, but they don't need to eliminate all the white girls, we are not all bad because of our skin color! Also, changing a characters' distinctive features is what Disney has been doing for years. Even for the Pinocchio movies, giving the BLUE HAIRED fairy blonde hair was bad, and so was the sequel that changed her skin color and made her bald. Like, it doesn't matter if the blue haired fairy is black or white, just GIVE HER BLUE HAIR! Same with Anne of Green Gables, give her red hair instead of blonde (in the live action 80s movie, Anne had blonde hair instead of red and that makes me mad). Like, those are specific features that make the character, that character! Also, I don't give a crap about the dwarves being racebent, in fact, I think it would be kind of cool to see them not all be white skin, and they could actually be real people with dwarfism instead of CGI. Like, as someone who hated the dwarves' designs in the old movie, I think they look worse in the remake.
Also, I'm not for the old movie's "romance" aspect either. I think it's weird for Snow White to be only 14 and we don't even know how old the prince is... like, it doesn't matter if he's 18 or 30, he still shouldn't be hitting up a 14 year old. I'm hoping everyone reading this agrees about the whole "p*dophilia is gross" aspect, whether you enjoyed the "original" Snow White movie or not. Seriously, I think people defend the old one way too much! We should acknowledge that 1937 was way too long ago to be watching a movie from that time. Like, child marriage is illegal now and has been for years, no one is getting married at 12 anymore. Do people not realize how much has changed in the past 88 years??? We don't need to glorify this old movie because it's old, we have got to see the problems with it and that we can make a better future for our kids... so stop showing your kids the old Snow White movie! I actually agree when Rachel calls it outdated and creepy, but I don't think she should be playing Snow White. Also, the whole "You don't need a man, you're a girlboss" thing can get annoying but not as annoying as a 14 year old being hooked up with a grown man. I think they still could have kept the romance in the remake, but make Snow white AND the prince both adults. Personally, I would have casted Chloe Moretz to play Snow White, since she's older and more mature than Rachel, has white skin like Snow white, as well as the soft feminine vibes that Snow White has too. Plus, Chloe is 28 and looks like a 28 year old woman, while Rachel is 23 and can pass as a teen. Like, if I was directing the remake, I would make sure the audience knew that BOTH Snow White and the prince are adults!
Here's another thing, the songs were not really doing it, but I don't care for the songs in the old movie either, so I don't give a crap about the songs in either the old or new Snow White. As I said before, a lot of people are more attached to the old movie, but it means nothing to me, so I'm not as mad about the remake songs. I admit, the songs in the remake suck though. I wouldn't have cared if there were any songs in it at all, honestly.
Anyway, that's what I think they should have done with the Snow White remake. I believe the old movie needed a remake, but I'm not happy with the remake changes. Also, I'm so happy that it's Disney's downfall, they never learn!

Speaking as a proud monster lubber who also prefers his beast look because no duh...I'm really tired of the passive but somehow unironic fans of Beauty and the Beast dragging the Beast's human look.
Firstly, he's not really all that ugly. He just needs more facial hair and chonk, especially to differenciate him from Tarzan. I know the "can you maybe grow a beard" line was added for the crapremake, but he legit would be fixed with just a few changes. It's like giving Elktaur a nose. It's really not that big a cosmetic different when you get down to it.

first pass edits (top:made eyes less sad and more happyBeast mode; bottom:begins changes)

Added: top chonk, thick eyebrows, beard like how god intended. sideburns, dilf energy. +Keeps deep(er, than regular) voice. Face the facts. +darker dirty blonde, though not nearly as dark as Belle's hair, so he stands out.
Upsides: is more obviously the Beast so people can shut up now about this guy "replacing" Belle's beast ++enough boys lets bring in the men. Coulda been our original Kristoff.
Downside: would def be babymipped into Christian art as a prettyboy Jesus.
The problem with the Human!Beast's design, as those before me have already said, is that he looks ruggardly handsome but standard and it feels like a different character because of that when it was the Beast that Belle and the audience fell in love with.
It's a bad design in lieu of what came before for him. That's it. Enough with your unironic "he should have stayed a beast"-bs. Same goes with that "Rapunzel looks better with long hair" or "Ariel looked better as a mermaid" garbage. Yeah, yeah and Jack Skellington's Christmas was better because it was "more fun". Even in animation where crap that you're expected to be endeared to somewhat despite it being weird in universe to the other characters, you are fundamentally missing the point of the story to ignore that.
Disney Beast is a spoiled crybaby manchild who made the mistake of crossing a fae on her bad day as a teenager, and now had to forever walk around with the ugliness he was and was in threat of becoming forever. He did not want this body. He is trapped in it and has decided to just never get better and be his worst self because of it- he even screams at Belle for almost touching his stuff and goes to save her because it's his fault she just ran out into a wolf-infested blizzard. Gotta love how ya'll only are annoyed with the beast's actions when he's a hawt beautiful glen keane monster and not his true self; a pretty boi spoiled manchild. Aww. You learned nothing.
Speaking of Centaurworld again, this is not a situation where the main character needs to learn to accept his new body as Horse does in that show. This is not the end of How to Train your Dragon where sometimes life sucks and you loose a leg and it's kind of devastating yeah dysphoria amIright-- the Beast did not need to learn to accept his body he needed to learn to accept himself. To be a better person.
Just to be my own kind of pettynontake-All the servant's human designs kick ass and look incredible. They're the true victims of this circumstance. Prince Adam not being your monster bf anymore is a sacrifice worth making for their sake.

You Did This (Disowned Post)
DISCLAIMER: While I Stand By My Opinion On Moana 2, I Should Have Reeled It In And Not Went On The Attack Towards Those Who Watched It And Enjoyed It.
You Did This, You Are Giving Disney A Blank Check To Retool TV Shows Into Half-Assed Movies. I Weep For The Animators Who Were Forced Into Getting This Done As Quick As Possible. At Least I Was Right About This Movie After Being Wrong About X-Men 97, Inside Out 2, Oye Primos, And Agatha All Along. However, As The Second Weekend Is Approaching, You Can Spend That Money That You Could Spend On Watching This On Literally Any Other Movie. I Mean, Wicked Is Still In Theaters. If You Or Someone You Know Still Wants To Watch It, Here's An Option:

I didn't even watch the movie 'Wish' and by god I do not intend to but I got sick and had some YouTube time and... I somehow got into a bubble where people tried to improve Wish? So many content creators reacting to the really bad and generic songs and then trying to improve them with the equipment available to them, this one person even rewrote the entire movie. And according to some of them it didn't even take ages, one person took two hours to rewrite the lyrics to this one horrible villain song and the one who rewrote the entire movie said it took her three days? And I think that's so beautiful, individuals just taking some of their time to improve what this billion dollar company fucked up. I bet the original writers and artists of Wish wanted that movie to be good, I don't really know the process behind the scenes, but Disney being Disney very probably took profit as the highest priority without regarding anything else, and see how that turned out.
And a whole Disney's wish-upon-a-star-shtick centric movie for the 100 year anniversary? With lots of references to anything disney? What a potential, the idea sounds great, I might have even watched it (totally in a way that would give disney profit yea sure promise haha). Kinda sad.

OH GOOD FUCKING LORD, NO!
Disney desperately needs to kill this movie franchise.
I appreciate the cast working with what they're given, but this wanted to be Descendants so badly with a Monster High vibe.
It doesn't help Descendants fell through with a coherent story as soon as tge 3rd film was announced. Like yeah, the Fairy Godmother's wand is strong enough to imprison the villains on an island, yet Maleficent has her scepter and Hades has his ember (which was never a thing until D3) that are both stronger than the wand. And then give us Rise Of Red , which had the potential to be good, but went against what was already established in the Descendants lore and made all the villains high school teens tgat all conveniently went to school together.
And now we're trying to add vampires into this mix of high school students that are comprised of humans, zombies, werewolves, and aliens. At this point we're just going through supernatural creatures from classic horror films and pop culture.
I'll admit, the second film's soundtrack kind of slyed, but now Disney is forcing Zombies down our throats until we projectile vomit it back at them.

Wish spoilers ahead.
The start of Wish is exactly like that of Encanto but without all the heart. It is literally the meme of "Can I copy your homework?" "Yeah but change a few things so it is not too obvious."
Also Asha deserved a pretty dress in the end like wth are you going to sell to little girls Disney you are all about money and you failed miserably even at that.
And it is for real soooo unfair how the queen did get a pretty dress the whole movie and Asha only got some lazy ass sparkles added to her boring ass dress.
Asha... not bad, ok, but she is copy paste Anna, Mirabel, and Rapunzel. Youtuber ModernGurlz is right about Disney's "adorkable" problem. All their main girls since Rapunzel have the same "quirky" personality save a few details. I have liked them all but it is getting boring. Give me a princess with a monotone, sad personality, give me a shy princess who only smiles and talks around close friends, give me back the classic super girly personality Aurora and Snow White style, give me an angry girl with a brutal sense of humor like Merida. Be creative, please!!!
I love the queen's design, super gorgeous. Too bad her character added nothing. Her help was barely needed since Asha's friend had already sneaked them into the castle and it was her who deciphered the king's magic. A super villain couple would have been way more fun.
Oh, yeah, Asha's friends. There were so-damn-many of them and only like 3 were rememberable or needed for the story. (Edit: I didn't realize they were supposed to be the seven dwarves, sorry, still, didn't like them much.)
The villain is a complicated issue. I appreciated Disney's attempt at another fully evil character, I liked how he wasn't yet another badly set up "twist villain" revealed only at the end. But I didn't like the end result that much.
His backstory was super underdeveloped and to "get" his motives better, if they really wanted to make him evil-yet-complex, they should have shown us a flashback of him losing his family Encanto style (They copy pasted the start might as well do the same with the antagonist backstory.
What the hell was the missing piece of tapestry for if it wasn't going to have any significance later on? Did the writers just forget or what even?
Worst part for me: The stakes were low as fuck. Disney doesn't respect its target audience, nowadays it thinks that children can't handle anything worse than a main character getting disappointed. The worst this "super evil" villain does is make people sad temporarily, for like two minutes (Kid you not), like one character stays sad for longer but MOST people in the kingdom seem happy and normal after giving up their wishes, he legit just makes people sad a few minutes (Again, I kid you not, no one dies, the wishes he "eats" to make himself stronger come back, nothing he does has a permanent, devastating effect, he is not even revealed to have killed Asha's father in a dramatic way or something). Yeah he makes people forget their wishes which is pretty sketchy but up to that point he seemed to have complex reasons for that, reasons that seem to disappear or have never even been there the second half of the movie when he magically becomes more evil due to a forbidden green spooky magic he uses, and then suddenly he becomes Maleficent (The cool, perfect villain version, not the woobie one) style evil in a very, very rushed and over the top way. I feel like he should have started up as fully evil with no backstory (Just a simple, Gaston or original Maleficent style, self centered guy, who wants more and more power and adoration), and simply gotten worse and stronger OR given more complexity as to why he became that way, but instead we got this weird thing in between where it is clear he just wants power and love from the people for the sake of it and yet he has this half-made sob story on how his family died.
There was a great lack of originality in this movie at the climax as well. Anyone watched "The little mermaid II"? That was pretty much it. Villain gets power boner, says he will enslave everyone (Worst thing he does in whole movie and yet no one trying to defy him dies at least off screen or gets hurt in any meaningful way). Then heroine saves the day.
The funniest part of this movie is that the villain's fate is worse than anything he ever did in the movie I swear. He gets trapped in a freaking mirror and then locked up in a cell (Similar to the Little mermaid II villain's end too lol). That is straight up torture till death, it is so fucked up. And his wife who literally sees how the green spooky magic is the main thing responsible for his bad day (If we are being honest that is all it was, other than the taking wishes part he seemed to be a good king) leaves him to rot and becomes queen Catherine II style, it is hilarious. Like girl, you turned against your husband like five minutes ago because apparently through decades of seemingly loving marriage, you never knew he was evil but now somehow you are ok with him rotting in solitary confinement till the end of time? So dorky and silly. So bad, so bad.
Lastly, that goat was annoying as hell.

Can we talk about how twisted the "female-empowering" message is from Modern Disney?
Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Original: Kind, polite, patient but with her limits, curious and creative
Remake: Rude even to those who talk to her kindly and obnoxious
Jasmine from Aladdin
Original: Determined, skilled, joyful, and empathic
Remake: A total damsel in distress who wants power because...?
Mulan from Mulan
Original: Smart, determined and ready to test her limits to prove herself
Remake: Strong from the beginning because made-up superpowers (remember young girls, you're nothing if you don't have cool skills since birth)
Wendy from Peter Pan
Original: Motherly, caring and brave
Remake: literally selfish and unlikable who would throw her brothers under the bus to save herself
Ariel from The Little Mermaid
Original: Curious, sweet, kind, gentle and courageous just as prince Eric
Remake: Eric is a bimbo who can't even help himself, so Ariel has to be there to do everything. Also, apparently Eric loves Ariel because he's hypnotized by her, which accidentally makes Ariel more predatory
Snow White from Snow White
Original: Sweet, kind, naïve, humble, who puts everyone above herself
Remake: Power-thirsty and exploiter towards the dwarfs
Nani from Lilo & Stitch
Original: Can lose her temper, but she's very patience and a caring sister towards Lilo and would do everything to not lose her
Remake: Hot-head, treats Lilo as a burden, hates her parents for dying (no really, there's a scene where she blames their parents for "leaving them behind")
And don't get me started at those "uwu female villains are misunderstood"
Honestly, is this really what young women want to feel represented as? Because I'm a woman and I don't like that at all.

Could you imagine if all the adult Disney haters out there have kids who want to watch Disney? And probably can’t because their Disney-hating parents won’t let them?
There are some legit reasons to hate Disney. But seriously, let other people enjoy it even when you don’t.
I swear people can’t separate the art from the artist anymore. And once that happens we probably can’t enjoy any art anymore.

⚠️ Wish Defense Rant Warning ⚠️
ASHA DIDN'T WANT ALL THE WISHES TO BE GRANTED. I can't stress that enough.
Everyone is all like "Asha wanted all the wishes to be granted not all wishes can be granted that's so unrealistic you can't grant everyone's wishes and Magnifico isn't the villain"
Asha didn't want all the wishes to be granted. She VERY CLEARLY stated that she wanted to give the wishes BACK to the people (because Magnifico literally ripped the lives out of them by taking their wishes!). She even SAID that the dangerous wishes could be stopped!
ALL ASHA WANTED WAS TO GIVE THE WISHES BACK TO THE PEOPLE, NOT TO GRANT ALL OF THEM. She wanted all the wishes to have a chance at being granted, not to be granted. And through giving them back, the wishes could then be pursued themselves through their own determination; not relying on Magnifico to grant them.
"Giving the wishes back" and "granting the wishes" are two completely different things!
And not everyone's wishes were even granted at the end of the movie! They were left to pursue them themselves if they chose to do so. It's exactly like what Sabino said; "I may not pursue my wish but it's nice to know that I can."
The plot was not about Asha wanting to grant everyone's wishes. It was about giving them back (because you literally lose a piece of yourself when you give up your wish to Magnifico!!!) and restoring the lives of the people of Rosas.
People are acting like the wishes are like "oh, I wish I can have a ham sandwich for lunch tomorrow" Like no! The plot clearly states that the wishes aren't just any wishes. They're the ones that drive your heart, the one that makes you who you are. How would you feel if you gave your wish to Magnifico and you got your memory erased, and you don't even remember the most important part of yourself?!?!
People are even complaining about the concept of the wishes being in magic spheres. They're even complaining that "you can literally see the wishes in the spheres!" Like...obviously! How else is Magnifico supposed to see what the wishes are?!?!?!
I even heard someone say like "You can't grant all the wishes, like you can't grant a 5-year-old's wish to become a monkey" Did you even pay attention?! The plot clearly states, MANY times, that you have to be 18 or older to give up your wish to Magnifico! By then, the wish that drives your heart will probably be connected to your passion (like singing or music or baking, etc.).
Magnifico "decides to grant the wishes that are good for Rosas" because the wishes power his sorcery and magic when destroyed. And Magnifico literally makes his people forget the wishes they made, that's basically ripping out their personality from them! Giving their wishes to Magnifico literally rips the life out of them and physically drains them, and it pains them when their wishes are destroyed entirely. And then he's driven LITERALLY INSANE AND COMPLETELY UNHINGED with his sorcery. He literally keeps the wishes for himself. He literally ONLY GRANTS THE WISHES THAT BENEFIT HIMSELF AND HIS POWER. He's literally so manipulative and LIES about the wishes being dangerous! (He OUTRIGHT LIED about Sabino's wish. Inspiring the next generation is not a dangerous wish!) He's literally a narcissist.
HE IS THE VILLAIN.
Asha was actually a great protagonist. She does have some of that "adorkable" Disney heroine feel, but that doesn't make her a bad character. She was an amazing, very well developed character and her personality was great. Edit: she was NOT adorkable. She was such a well developed character and she was amazing.
I loved that she sketches and even does flipbook animation! SHE WAS NOT SELFISH. She didn't want all the wishes to be granted, she wanted to give the wishes back.
And apparently "This Wish" is getting hate just because there wasn't a big belt in the song. It's not that kind of song. Disney movies use songs to push the plot along. The overall tone and dynamics of the songs are what help the story along. "This Wish" is not one of those songs that has a loud belt in it. It's supposed to be quieter. Disney songs sound like they do for a reason. "This Wish" was beautifully performed by Ariana DeBose and didn't need a big belt.
Disney, David Metzger, Benjamin Rice, and Julia Michaels used a fresh approach on the songs and the animation; and because it's different than the most recent Disney animated movies, everyone goes lashing out on it just because it's fresh and new.
Clearly, people didn't pay attention when they were watching it.
Did they even watch Wish? I'm halfway convinced that secretly there's some sort of doppelganger bad version of Wish they watched, because we definitely did not watch the same movie.
The animation was absolutely gorgeous, the music was so fresh (and I may or may not listen to the soundtrack on repeat), the characters were awesome, the animation was absolutely stunning, the humor actually cracked me up, and this movie made me CRY and it gave me so many feels. Everything about this movie makes me so happy, it's such a fresh approach for Disney and it's a perfect love letter to Disney animation.
Disney genuinely worked so hard on Wish and it makes me so upset to see all the hate that it's getting.
Like Disney actually makes a really good movie for once and everybody's hating on it.
I understand the reasons that people didn't like Wish, and some of them I agree with, but that doesn't mean that I don't like it. I loved it and I thought it was great! I agree, there could've been some things better about it (they could've made it longer, that one lyrics "shareholders", etc.) but you don't have to go all out on hating this movie.
Could it have been better? Totally! Was it a horrible movie? Absolutely not.
All these "critics" and "movie reviewers" are just so nitpickity. They see a few TINY things wrong with the movie and then go "this is the worst Disney movie ever" and "this sucks so bad" and "Magnifico is the good guy" And they keep saying "this is an insult to Disney fans". How would you know? You're not a Disney fan, so how would you know? (Most) Disney fans, including me, actually loved the movie!
I'm literally crying because all the "reviews" are so negative and they're completely ruining this amazing movie for me. I just feel so shut down because (I'm sorry, I have to say it) all the negative reviews are wrong. And some of these "critics" are making these reviews without even having seen the movie!!! Wish was so magical and breathtaking, and it's been Disney's best movie in a very, very, very, very long time.
People keep bringing out all the negatives of Wish and never the positives. If they keep bringing up the negatives, people will only ever see Wish as a bad movie. Yes, there were some flaws (no movie is perfect!), but that doesn't mean that there's nothing good about it.
Disney was truly trying their hardest and yet Wish is getting hate after hate after hate. THEY GAVE THE FANS WHAT THEY WANTED. Incorporated 2D animation ✓ Fresh music ✓ Fairytale ✓ Original story ✓ Stunning animation ✓ Truckload of references ✓ Great characters ✓ Good protagonist ✓ Amazing songs ✓ An actual classic Disney villain with a great upbeat villain song (not to mention a DILF) ✓ Breathtaking design ✓ Detailed plot ✓
And yet people are STILL complaining!!! (I mean most of them aren't Disney fans so how would they know if a Disney movie's good or not)
I'm starting to think that this was a movie specifically aimed at fans; and it's getting so much hate because these "critics"/"reviewers" and these people watching the movie aren't Disney fans and they don't understand the magic and how hard Disney really worked on it.
They're like "oh the plot is so unoriginal". Since when has Disney ever made a movie specifically focusing on wishing, with tons of references, blending 2D style with 3D animation, and satisfying various fan demands? Like what Disney movie has ever had a plot so similar to this one? That's what I thought. NONE. It was literally made in honor of Disney 100. YES, there ARE callbacks to previous Disney movies (such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, etc.). But these people are looking at all these similarities, then IMMEDIATELY jumping to "oh the plot is so unoriginal because they're combining previous Disney films to make this one".
And they're all like "oh the concept art was better". If you liked the concept art, that's great! I LOVE IT TOO! But every final design is carefully chosen for a reason.
They're all complaining about "Star could've been a shapeshifter and Asha and star boy could've had a romance". (but ngl I LOVEEEEE all the fanart and the concept art) and "we were robbed" and "it would've made the movie better" You're missing the point! Star carried the movie with Asha just fine as just a cute, magical, nonverbal star. STAR IS ADORABLE AND IS BY FAR ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS FROM THE MOVIE. Wish was not a movie that needed romance. It would've been nice, sure, but the plot works without it.
Edit: STARBOY WASN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE A LOVE INTEREST FOR ASHA. (Just found that out)
Also, people complaining about "we need romance" and "Disney hasn't given us romance in so long" Elemental. Did you watch Elemental?!?! That had romance!!!
Just because Asha's friends are based off the seven dwarfs doesn't mean that they're not great characters! Sure, I wish that they were a bit more original, but that doesn't mean they're bad characters! They might be based off of the seven dwarfs, but it WORKS. I loved all of Asha's friends.
Honestly, all of the hate for Wish is just plain hilarious now because none of it is even accurate.
As a Disney fan who actually loved it, I'm so so so scared of the hate I'm gonna get. Because the people who hated it are basically saying "either you hate it or you're wrong". And I shouldn't have to worry about that. Like what have I ever done to you? I'm not hating on the things you like, am I? Like I feel so bad about myself now because it seems like the only right thing to do is hate Wish, and that I'm not allowed to like it because a majority of people don't and that I'm a horrible person for liking it. I feel so terrible about liking Wish now because a majority of people are saying it's so bad and that if you don't despise it, you're wrong. And I don't think I should be feeling this way.
Edit: I can't even bring myself to even listen to the soundtrack anymore. As if someone is watching over my shoulder and will find out that I'm listening to it, and then they'll attack me for it.
I just wanna cry tbh like this is just so hard for me to deal with. I'm literally not allowed to like anything anymore. It's "it has to be 100% perfect with no flaws whatsoever or it's horrible".
Seriously?!?! Like that's so unrealistic no movie will ever be absolutely perfect all movies have flaws!!!
I WENT TO SEE WISH AND EXPECTED BETTER. I didn't get what I was expecting (and actually was a bit disappointed) but I STILL LOVED IT. You can like movies that have flaws. Sure, Wish wasn't perfect and yes, THERE WERE FLAWS. But that doesn't mean that there weren't good things about it either!!!
Most people who watched it I don't think payed attention to the movie (because what they're saying about it doesn't even line up with the plot!). So if you're hating on Wish, please keep your opinions to yourself and don't lash out on the people who liked it. You're perfectly entitled to your own opinion, it's just that some opinions are very hurtful to others and some aren't true.
Wish was a masterpiece (in my opinion), I enjoyed it a lot.
EDIT: I just found out that Wish won awards for "Best Animated Feature", "Best Songs", and "Best Original Score". If this doesn't tell you that this is a good movie, I don't know what will.

So, about Wish...
Yeah, okay. No spoilers for this one. But some of you really, really need to be told a couple things.
Yes, Wish is by no means perfect. It falls flat at some points, it lacks some vital elements in storytelling, yes, you're right, YOU'RE RIGHT, get your fucking pin and go. Sit down. Listen.
Wish's premise of not trusting a higher power to make your dreams come true is NOT. A. BAD. THING. What god, any god, acts as a genie for you? Introduce me to that kind of faith, because there are a couple things I'd like for myself and those I love. You cannot, because that IS NOT HOW FAITH SHOULD WORK. Faith is meant to support you, to hold you, but not to GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU WANT just because you believe really hard.
I've seen posts saying that old Disney spoke of wishes coming true by having faith. Okay. No. Just no. Maybe in the old movies with fairy godmothers and shit, but modern Disney, hell, even modern princesses take the reins of their own life and MAKE IT HAPPEN. Wish is not the first one to say YOU control your destiny, and YOU have the power to fulfill your dreams. Tiana worked like hell to get that restaurant of hers. Rapunzel escaped her tower and defied Mother Gothel. Merida and her mother work on their relationship to break a curse. Elsa and Anna charted their own paths while staying true to themselves and one another. Mirabel trusted her family and herself to rekindle their miracle. No god, no higher power, it was ALL THEMSELVES.
It doesn't mean you have to be selfish or do it all by yourself. It means, shit, trust your own capabilities and those around you, and you can take the wheel of your own life. Independence is not a bad thing, and it doesn't have to be against faith!
Hate on Wish for other things. But not for its message, which is one of the best messages Disney has thrown out there in a very long time.
