#Does anyone have advice or tips

How do you guys stay focused when trying to study? Like i can‘t do it even if my life would depend on it

I’ve been thinking about making a fanfic- like, a full one here on Tumblr. I’d do a small rewrite of Disventure Camp All Stars. So that I could make it fit the narrative of Jake x Aiden, and I feel like this ship is kinda… hard to find content for? At least where I’ve looked.

So I feel like it could make a lot of people happy if I wrote one, and posted it here. But at the same time? I’m nervous.. what if the writing is bad? What if I get a lot of hate for writing it? What if people don’t like it? What if it doesn’t meet people’s standards? What if I lose motivation for writing part way through it, and discontinue the fanfic?

I’m just nervous. Worried about failure. Worried about hate. Worried that my depression or anxiety might get in the way. Am I just overthinking this? Should I just stop being a wuss and write it? What do you think?

IT IS DONE. I 100%'D SIDE ORDER IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY. Cleared the tower with all palettes, bought all hacks, bought all items from Cipher, got the Low Hacks Eight badge, got all Jelleton entries, and got all chips entries as well as maxing out the chips that max out at ten and NOT five. My fastest clear is 17 minutes with DJ Octavio's palette, and highest score is Marina's palette with 83k points. My favorite palette and palette with the most clears is Frye's palette with 6 clears, and my least favorite palette is Big Man's palette with only a single clear, tied with Eight and Murch's palette for the spot of least clears, and my first clear was with Sheldon's palette.

Genuinely I could not be happier with Side Order. The only critiques I have are minor and not hugely impactful on how I feel about the DLC as a whole. Easily worth the money and despite the fact I've now done every conceivable thing the game has to offer in terms of completion, I absolutely expect to continue playing and having fun with it for a while further

okay so my trich started up REAL BAD a few months ago, and when my trich gets real bad, my dermatillomania gets WORSE. at first i started having a few lil cuts on my head, but now i have a very, very bad wound that is uh. it's noticeable if my hair isn't parted in the right way to hide it, and it is continuously opening (thanks to the aforementioned derm)

the taping your fingers method does not work for me, and try as i might me noticing i'm doing it doesn't prevent me from doing it a little while later. i'm not steady with keeping a journal and like... again, i have a week to hope it clears up and heals enough to at least not be TOO noticeable :'3

but if anyone has any advice on how to get that under control i'd super appreciate it. i've had years where i didn't have this go on badly, but i think a lot of stress from the new living environment got me and, well. whee.

I just came across your sburb land art, I'm absolutely stunned by it all, everything feels like it fits exactly with the rest of homestuck! would you have any advice/techniques to share for drawing in the style? stylistic details you feel are oft missed in fanart, etc?

Uh well I’m def not one to judge the way others draw world art lol that’s for sure, it can kinda be anything you want right? I don’t actually look at a lot of fanart tbh so I can’t say if anyone is missing anything at all or forgetting anything def not gonna go police how others should do art

I know there’s like major through line of that mspa kinda style is using a G-pen or something similar to get those clean crunchy pixels without any extra noise. Also panel sizes your usually going to work with around 650 pixels (length or width doesn’t matter that’s just generally what classic HS panel sizes are). If you have that you can pretty much do whatever you want. These are tools anyone can use though just if you want that kinda of style.

Other than that I guess just basic art tips people might not think about when drawing any environment

-implementing perspective

-setting up a focal point

-making colors fade closer to grey or blue the farther away they are from your vision (or whatever color the land’s sky is)

-using purples or blue for shadows on multiply layers and whatever colors your light sources are on overlay layers or glowdodge layers

Also to be fair I went to college for concept art in game design this is just stuff I picked up there- anyone can do it tho, there’s no like secret sauce

📚Here is my list:

The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.

"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.

"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.

"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.

"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.

"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.

"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.

"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.

"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.

Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.

📝As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.

For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.

💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.

Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates. Galaxy, Windows, macOS, iPad, iPhone, Android, or Chromebook device. )

NOTE: Some of these can work on almost any computer like Clip and Sai but others will require a bit stronger computer like Blender. Please check their sites for if your computer is compatible.

So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.

I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.

TW: Cussing, Vent(?), Mentions of Love, Mentions of Religion

As a person who’s on the AroAce spectrum, believes in soulmates, and has had multiple partners yet only loved one of them- feelings are complicated..

Like this isn’t a vent just more so.. words that I feel like need to be said?

I’ve only ever loved one of my partners- and unfortunately we’re exes now. Oh well. The thing that sucks is that I feel comfortable being on the aromantic spectrum, yet I’m worried that I’m not actually aromantic in any way. I hate to admit the fact that despite dating over a year ago, the thought of him still makes my stomach flip and explode with butterflies, makes my heart beat with life and joy, makes my face flush like a giant red tomato.

And it’s confusing. Am I on the AroAce spectrum? Or am I just so hung up on this one person that I can’t bring myself to love other people? It doesn’t help I am personally religious either, some times I ask for a sign. To see if he’s even worth it, and every time I ask- I have a dream about my ex. A dream about us being happy together, loving each other again, being that cute couple we used to be.

Psychologically? It’s probably just my brain trying to conjure up reasons for me to still crush and be in love with this guy- we talked recently, it made me feel so happy to have him joke with me. Let alone flirt with me. But now he’s ignoring me, again. And honestly? It’s fucking bullshit.

Mentally ill? I’m aware. He’s depressed. He’s got a lot of other issues. So do I. So is it his D.I.D. Fucking with him? Or is he just an asshole! I constantly defend him, I constantly praise him whenever we talk. The things I tell him are true to me, but sometimes I worry I’m manipulative.. I compliment him and tell him he’s amazing, as if that’ll help me win him over.

It’s even worse when you’re obsessively in love with them. Love is complicated. It can be beautiful, it can be messy, it can be painful, and it can be freeing. I know this isn’t something I should be posting on the internet- but hey! Maybe someone needs to hear this. Hear that you shouldn’t constantly defend someone who might just view you as a toy rather than a person. Don’t defend someone until you have all the information, that’s the moral of today I guess.
