Hikaru Kusakabe is a normal, carefree boy in a rock band who is always focused on the present. During the summer, his entire class is forced to participate in an upcoming chorus festival. By coincidence, he discovers his classmate Rihito Sajou—known for being an honor student with excellent grades—practicing his singing alone. Sajou just cannot seem to get their class' song right, and Kusakabe, delighted at seeing a new side of his straight-laced classmate, offers to help him prepare for the event.

Although their lives and personalities are total opposites, they begin to grow closer as time progresses. But with the pressure of an unknown future, what will become of them and their growing relationship?

The days fly by as they slowly begin to grow closer until Mio suddenly announces that he has to leave for the mainland.

Three years pass before a 20-year-old Mio returns to Okinawa to confess his love to Shun. However, in those three years, Shun's life has changed. Will he be able to accept Mio's feelings and make such a commitment?

Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai: The Clouds Gather (2020)

Yashiro, the ruthlessly efficient leader of the yakuza group Shinsekai, is also a brazen sexual deviant and masochist. Having been hurt by the only person he had ever fallen in love with, he now engages in strictly physical relationships.

One day, Yashiro's superior assigns Chikara Doumeki, a recently released prisoner, to the role of Yashiro's new bodyguard. The stoic and observant Doumeki is also clumsy and impotent, much to Yashiro's dismay. Although Yashiro has a personal policy to not get involved with his subordinates, he finds himself strangely drawn to Doumeki, who keeps denying his advances. Despite his refusals, Doumeki finds Yashiro beautiful and wishes to stay by his side, yet he knows that he will never be able to satisfy his boss. As the two grow closer, their complicated pasts slowly begin to reveal themselves. Will their histories get in the way of their emergent feelings?

I know this is probably a lot to type, but can you give a brief idea of what your Japanese learning journey was/is like?? Thank you!

Ooooohhh okay okay so

-- tried to learn first in 2016 using Genki I & II and I totally bombed it.

-- picked up again in 2018, failed again

-- in 2021, I realized maybe I should do something different, so I chose to primarily use Cure Dolly's video series for grammar and learning, alongside Genki with Tokini Andy's videos and Anki with Core 2k.

- I eventually dropped Tokini Andy's videos a few months in, same with Anki. I kept up with Cure Dolly's corpse allllll the way to the end though, and replaced time I'd spend with Andy's videos and Anki with reading VNs in Japanese.

- my first VN in JP was Doukyuusei, then Isaku, and then I forget what next. Maybe Rance 03? But I read all of them with the help of a texthooker program and Nazeka as a mouse over dictionary.

I think if I started now, I'd say watch Cure Dolly's course, and once you have basic grammars down, watch some shows with simple vocabulary and grammar like a Precure or Cardcaptor, and also read a VN. Just grind out even when it's super hard in the early days. Don't bother with textbooks or Anki, they don't help much at all IMO. But that's just my two cents.

Sendo este um dos meus posts mais longos (dividido em duas partes), posso dizer: AMO Doukyuusei COM TODO MEU CORAÇÃO.

Após ler o primeiro mangá, além de me apaixonar pela interação e pelo amor genuíno entre os dois personagens, senti-me tentada a continuar lendo. Não foi surpresa descobrir que as continuações eram igualmente incríveis.

Sendo um dos meus mangás preferidos, que sempre me deixam com o coração quentinho, acredito que todo o esforço para espalhar as continuações pelo mundo valeu a pena (me sinto até uma celebridade aqui).

No final de toda essa jornada, posso afirmar que minha nota é 5/5 e recomendo fortemente a leitura deste mangá, especialmente para oa depressivos (esse mangá cura a depressão sério)

This being one of my longest posts (divided into two parts), I can say: I LOVE Doukyuusei WITH ALL MY HEART.

After reading the first manga, besides falling in love with the interaction and genuine love between the two characters, I felt tempted to continue reading. It was no surprise to discover that the sequels were equally incredible.

Being one of my favorite mangas, which always warm my heart, I believe that all the effort to spread the sequels around the world was worth it (I even feel like a celebrity here).

At the end of this whole journey, I can say that my rating is 5/5 and I highly recommend reading this manga, especially for those who are depressed (this manga seriously cures depression).

Hikaru Kusakabe is a guitar player in a band who is popular with the ladies. He tends to be much more straightforward with his words and actions than Sajo. He realizes he’s in love, but Sajo’s hesitation and inclination to push him away hurt him. His love and determination keep him going.

Licht Sajo is a shy honor student who starts talking with Kusakabe, his classmate, when the latter offers him singing lessons for a school chorus festival. He’s very hesitant and easily flustered, but he slowly accepts that he is in love with Kusakabe, and that his love is reciprocated.

This is an adorable anime about Kusakabe and Sajou. Kusakabe is a carefree member of a rock band. On the contrary Sajou is very straight-laced and studious. They are both forced to be part of the school's summer chorus festival. So when Kusakabe finds Sajou practicing his singing Kusakabe just can’t seem to not be interested. Despite being quite different the two begin developing a close friendship. Plus the art style is unique and eye-catching.
