Electric Vehicle Plastics Market: An In-Depth Exploration and its Contribution to a Circular Automotive Industry
The global electric vehicle plastics market size was estimated at USD 13.33 billion in 2030 and is anticipated to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28.0% from 2024 to 2030. The industry is projected to witness significant growth in terms of consumption, on account of high application scope and increasing demand from the growing population. The Polypropylene (PP) resin demand in the Asia Pacific region is estimated to grow at the fastest CAGR over the forecast period. Strong government support & initiatives regarding emissions and increasing investment by manufacturers are propelling the growth of the region.

Electric Vehicle Plastics Market Report Highlights
The Asia Pacific region is estimated to grow at the fastest CAGR from 2022 to 2030. Increasing demand from the growing population coupled with environmental concerns among others are anticipated to drive market growth in the region
The battery segment is anticipated to register the fastest CAGR from 2022 to 2030. Batteries are one of the significant components of an EV and, in comparison to combustion engines, battery vehicles do not produce any emissions and are eco-friendly. The growing demand for EVs has promising growth for EV batteries
The exterior application segment accounted for the largest revenue share in 2021 and is estimated to continue its dominance over the forecast period due to the high demand in aesthetics
The BEV vehicle type segment led the industry in 2021 and it is anticipated to continue growing over the forecast period as PHEVs have higher maintenance costs than BEVs

Furthermore, EVs are efficient and require less maintenance as compared with traditional vehicles. These factors are expected to boost the demand for EVs, which is expected to drive the demand for plastics over the forecast period. Increasing utilization of plastics in EVs is anticipated to boost industry growth positively over the forecast period. Plastics have proven to perform well under harsh conditions through their resistance to shock, moisture, oxidation, and further maintaining their chemical and mechanical properties. Plastics will be crucial material for manufacturing lightweight and energy-efficient EVs. Based on resin type, PP is expected to witness major demand during the projected years.
Polypropylene is used in many components of the vehicle including bumpers, carpet fibers, cable insulation, and others. Properties, such as good heat, chemical & fatigue resistance, and others, are anticipated to drive the demand for PP in the industry. Major manufacturers are adopting expansion strategies, such as new product development, production facility expansions, mergers & acquisitions, and joint ventures. For instance, in October 2021, DuPont launched a new extension of its existing Zytel HTN range, named as Zytel 500 series. These products are developed to provide enhanced retention properties in e-mobility oils, electrically friendly characteristics, and a high Comparative Tracking Index (CTI).

Re: the lack of demand for wool thanks to propaganda causing more waste; my parents live part-time in a small village in Ireland that is about half populated by sheep farmers. ALL those farmers have had to pivot away from wool production to mutton production, because they can't survive off selling the wool anymore. So now they are killing exponentially more sheep than they were killing before, since. You know. You don't have to kill the sheep to harvest the wool!
God, this is incredibly sad
all that wool that could become, not just winter/cold-weather fabric, but summer-weight wool that's excellent for temperature regulation!
and of course, the irony of killing more sheep because P*TA told you the non-lethal sheep product was evil

The very first step towards zero waste is not, in fact, completely eliminating trash.
Instead, it's just being mindful of what the fuck you're actually throwing away every day. I'm keeping a piece of paper taped above my trash bin, and every time I throw something away, I write down what it is.
Then, I take one item- just one!- and figure out a concrete way to eliminate that waste. For example, I do a lot of sous vide cooking, and previously used a vacuum sealer and a plastic roll to seal all of my foods for processing, and before that, the water immersion method with plastic bags. I did my research into using silicone bags for sous vide, and found these guys:
Tumblr media
They're these huge goddamn silicone bags with no top that can fit a whole fucking brisket. I shit you not. Since sous vide requires water to cook, they leave the top of the bag open, and water displacement naturally pushes all of the air out of the bag, leading to a perfectly sealed, perfectly cooked meat at the end of the day. Fucking fabulous.
Instead of tossing my vacuum sealer, though, I donated it to my local Buy Nothing group, along with my remaining plastic rolls. I have no other use for it, but I'm sure someone else can find a good use out of it, without me contributing to further waste.
Now, every time I cook sous vide, I produce no extra plastic waste, both my setup and cleanup are expedited, and I feel good about it. It's one win, but they add up.
Find the first, easiest thing you can change, and change it. Follow to hear more ways that you can adapt to create less waste.

Another episode of I'm someone who can't rid of anything that might be useful because everytime something ends up useful it just boosts my confidence in saving things:
My favorite hair scarf that was my very first one and i already bought it old as shit got a stain on it, and my grandma was hand washing it for me with just water because it is Delicate and the water itself put holes in it it was that worn/old. However I'm a sentimental fool who loved the stupid thing and it was my Literal Favorite so we had a big picture frame with a piece of art my grandma was going to toss (it was mass produced not an original, she bought it off of QVC once upon a time) and i just wrapped the head scarf around the back of the old print and it actually looks really good we both love it even with the hole in the scarf. I'm also a sentimental fool who was thinking that maybe it'll get passed on one day as "grandma's/aunt's/sisters favorite head scarf" but idk I'm just a fool 😂

Okay but fr I am so sick of trying to pick between two detriments when it comes to milk. I love cow's milk but I also know the extensive ecological cost between land use, methane, carbon dioxide and water. By god, the water... (I did an assessment that included researching and calculating all this). Phew.
Not a fan of almond really except for flavoured milk treats, and that also uses water extensively so I'm not too interested in it.
I love oat milk, its much better ecologically, but. The packaging x__x Tetra Paks cannot be recycled in Australia (there is a single recycling plant I think and its in another state). So while the crop footprint is generally smaller than cow milk, the packaging is causing another Massive Issue. Landfill is one of the primary contributors to methane accumulation in the atmosphere (alongside livestock) so it really feels like such a lose-lose situation OTL Especially when you consider that for every bottle of cow milk, you go through two oat milk paks because they come in 1L instead of 2L.
At least cow milk bottles get recycled. I just hope that with increasing use of alternative milks maybe more recycling plants will open up for this type of packaging? Because they can be recycled but you need special machinery. Similarly with blister packs (the pharmaceutical companies should be paying for that one 100%).
And I like being able to store heaps of oat milk in the cupboard and not have to worry about it spoiling because it lasts ages! Its cheaper and easier. I do also like UHT cow milk also.
Better sustainability practices are achievable but it seems so impossible when you have no money to set yourself up for less plastic, and things touted as "better alternatives" still have massive impacts.
It shouldn't be this damn hard to cut plastic out of my life >:(
