actually i. don't think the spire exists at all in this au. only the peak of truth is mentioned and i imagine when recluse decided to stay there he just made a little hut at the summit and called it a day. he doesn't WANT people to be there so it doesn't have to look nice or magnificent or anything

Addendum, has Gretchen every encountered the Bahari? Did she have any problems with their scorn for Caine and worship of Lilith?

HIII!!!! Omg, hun you are not annoying me at all! I'm very touched by your curiosity so THANK YOUUUU!!! While Gretchen does believe in Caine, she's not fanatical about it. She didn't pay mind to any divine beings growing up nor is she doing that now. The primary thing she's devoted to is her work and nurturing her power. Her laboratory is that sacred place where she gets to withdraw herself from everyone's noise by indulging in her research. Though Gretchen never encountered the Bahari thus far, of course she heard other Sabbat whispering scornfully about them during her visits to Eastern Europe. Instead of sharing their distaste, she rather found herself intrigued by what they represent and has no reasons to disregard Lilith worship, thinking that it's just as legitimate, even resonating with the Dark Mother in the aspects of self-loyalty, being above morality, pursuit of knowledge and power and resisting humanity. If anything, she respects the cults despite their mission to dismantle the Church of Caine, but she doesn't openly admit it in order to avoid scrutiny. And if she were to cross paths with the Bahari, she wouldn't attack unless provoked.

“There was a great Sufi teacher in India who had a thousand adherents who were most devoted pupils. One day he said to them, "I have changed my mind." And the words "changed my mind" surprised them greatly; they asked him, "What is the matter, how can it be that you have changed your mind?" He said, "I have the feeling that I must go and bow before the Goddess Kali." And these people, among whom were doctors and professors, well qualified people, could not understand this whim, that their great teacher in whom they had such faith, wished to go into the temple of Kali and bow before the Goddess of the hideous face, he, a God-realized man in whom they had such confidence! And the thousand disciples left him at once, thinking "What is this? It is against the religion of the formless God, against the teaching of this great Sufi himself, that he wants to worship the Goddess Kali!"

And there remained only one pupil, a youth who was very devoted to his teacher, and he followed him when he went to the temple of Kali. The teacher was very glad to get rid of these thousand pupils, who were full of knowledge, full of their learning, but who did not really know him; it was just as well that they should leave. And as they were going towards the temple, he spoke three times to this young man, saying "Why do you not go away? Look at these thousand people, who had such faith and such admiration, and now I have said just one word, and they have left me. Why do you not go with them? The majority is right." The pupil, however, would not go, but continued to follow him. And through all this the teacher received great inspiration and a revelation of how strange human nature is, how soon people are attracted and how soon they can fly away. It was such an interesting phenomenon for him to see the play of human nature that his heart was full of feeling, and when they arrived at the temple of Kali he experienced such ecstasy that he fell down and bowed his head low. And the young man who had followed him did the same.

When he got up he asked this young man again, "Why do you not leave me when you have seen a thousand people go away? Why do you follow me?" The young man answered, "There is nothing in what you have done that is against my convictions, because the first lesson you have taught me was that nothing exists save God. If that is true, then that image is not Kali; it too is God. What does it matter whether you bow to the East or to the West or to the earth or to heaven? Since nothing exists except God, there is nobody else except God before whom to bow, even in bowing before Kali. It was the first lesson you taught me." All these learned men were given the same lesson, they were students and very clever, but they could not conceive of that main thought which was the center of all the teaching. It was this same young man who later became the greatest Sufi teacher in India, Khwaja Moin-ud-Din Chishti. Every year thousands of people of all religions make pilgrimages to his tomb at Ajmer, Hindus, Mohammedans, Jews, and Christians. To the Sufi all religions are one.”

Solstice Goddess Mysteries

The days we enter at this time of year in one way is all about our death/rebirth & crossing over between the upper- & underworlds— in our timeless moments in the underworld we meet & commune with the primordial Goddess.

In another way this is the time of the year that reminds us of our true reality & task of Self-realisation in the light of the Supernal Sun / star -

It is the Star that leads the Magi to the birth of the holy son- the descent or incarnation of the light into the form of man.

The descent of grace, is for the redemption & redeeming of man's Consciousness, that the divine light descends into a human form— awake to itself- therefore awakening others. Walking in the forest of darkness (human unconsciousness with the light of knowledge & love turned on- all manner of creatures, like butterflies I (the age-old symbol for psyche & soul) - are attracted to the light, & follow it, leading the way to Consciousness/ realisation.

In man's forgetfulness- the omnidirectional, transparent to itself, self-luminous, non-dimensional light- reflects itself

- (the descent of the light) - symbolised by the moon-however, the light, in whatever state of itself, remains the same divine, intelligible light.

The Supernal, the reflected/descended, & the human birth- is the completion of light in itself— the realised or divine human.

Although we think of the Supernal light as the divine Father or Absolute- it is also The Virgin Mother or Dark Goddess- this empty & full, dark but luminous or intelligible space is bother Father-Mother & also neither.

There are periods of history, we worship the divine as Father/Son/God & other periods as Mother/daughter/ goddess or both or neither.

Sometimes the star is the Sun, other times Venus.

Looking at the symbols, we don't look only with the eyes of analysis— symbols speak in Consciousness in ways that are layered & self-revealing in stages, like keys that onlock levels of understanding.

Wrapped up in the Virgin symbol with the Sun/Star behind the head a crescent moon under the teet is an immensity of knowledge that cannot be fully circumscribed by words.

This time of year is as much about the Virgin as about the birth of her Son.
