In history class, there was a bit of handwaving that the Holocaust was Very Bad and we should not be Hitler, and that Israel was created because Hitler, and we needed to end persecution of the Jews. Unfortunately, those darn Arabs were just upset that they couldn't have the whole Middle East to themselves.

And that Israel "has to be violent to defend itself from Arabs," and that Israel is so good at this "defense" that they can win wars in six days!! Wow.

We did not learn about the Nazi philosophy, or eugenics, or Zionism, or alternatives* to Jerusalem as a homeland, or the Balfour Declaration, or the Pale of Settlement and the pogroms; we did not learn about "Christians" believing that they could not charge interest and thus not lend money, leaving a vacuum for non-Christians to fill; we did not learn about so much history in our so-called "world history" class in our white school in our white town.

At home, we never talked about any of it. They said not to be racist, but they were carefully planting and tending the seeds of racism.

The first time I heard the phrase, "the covert racism of the Yankee," which I assumed meant "Northerner" in general (states on the Union side in the American Civil War), I did not understand the concept being named. But with sufficient study, starting in 2016 I'd say, I think I am beginning to see it.

Distant family

Danny didn't quite know how to feel when his mother asked him if he wanted to go visit his aunt for a few days. He assumed it was his Aunt Alicia but apparently not, which didn't leave him with much of a choice as to who it might be. He wondered if it was safe to leave Amity for so long.

Later, his mother rectified herself by saying she was more of a distant aunt of sorts, which didn't help the halfa's confusion in the least but he ended up agreeing to it. Mainly because Jazz asked him to take a vacation.

That's how he found out his aunt was Wonder Woman, because sure, why not, Aunt Diana seemed to be just as curious about his existence but didn't tie him up in her shiny golden bow so Danny considered it a win.

Apparently his grandmother was an Amazon that left Themyscira after falling in love. His mom had met Diana when she was separated from her homeland as a sort of united group of exiled Amazons.

Danny wondered what that meant for Jazz's future, at least he had a story to tell Pandora, she would be proud of his origins...probably.

my piece is an interpretation of the caverns on Iron Island 🏝️ so I wanted to incorporate more of the water surrounding it by creating a sea cave to have light spill inside (akin to the modra špilja/blue grotto)

the focus of the zine was on the daily lives of trainers and their pokemon, so Riley uses a spot inside the caverns like this to meditate with his team, although any new Riolu he trains can’t resist wanting to jump into the water to play υ´˶ ･ﻌ･ ˶`υﾉ”

Op I read your old post about "the blind dragon who wants to see the sun" and I realized wait Zhongli is most symbolized by the sun

zhongli has soooo much sun symbolism here is a list

Gold everywhere!!! Lots of yellow and gold in his color palette. His eyes are described as golden or amber -the golden glow of his hands, the gold in his suits or archon outfits. Gold, the color of the sun is his signature color.

In his splash art his meteorite looks distinctly like the sun (plus his character demo is full of sun symbolism)

In depictions of Rex Lapis he always symbolizes the sun

Zhongli's namecard description: stars fall, light fades

His burst/ultimate is translated to "Planet Befall" in english but in chinese it is "Heavenly Star"

During one of the melusine quests in fontaine one them says "gold are the tears of the sun" if you gift them cor lapis. She also says cor lapis is warm to the touch "truly as gentle as the sun itself"

Deus Auri which translates to “god of gold” is one of Rex Lapis' titles

Mora (which is often referred synonymously with gold) is minted from Zhongli’s own flesh and blood

As you mentioned Azhdaha was a blind dragon who yearned to see the sun. As Morax was the one who granted him eyes -meaning he was the first person Azhdaha saw- Morax is in part the "sun" he yearned to see

In Zhongli's TCG card the story says "a hidden gemstone can illuminate the whole earth, bright and unrivaled as a star"

One of the distinct features of the adepti is the "illumination" that Rex Lapis granted them that gave them the ability to create subspaces and other powers (what does the sun do? illuminate)

In Azhdaha's story he recites a poem to Jiu (his eroded self) "A star appears within the wild a sun ascends as bright as jade”. Other than gold Zhongli's signature item is jade! Fun fact the weapons of the Primordial Jade series were created by him.

In the description of the Geo Hypostasis it states maybe the reason it creates pillar is not to combat enemies but to get closer to the sky

In one of Albedo's voicelines he says "without human manipulation you would need to harness the power of a sun eight times the size of our own in order to naturally create gold”

Interestingly the Solar Chariot crashed into Liyue forming The Chasm about 6000 years ago, coincidentally Rex Lapis descended upon the region at the same time.

Lastly, while Zhongli symbolizes the sun a lot of the people around him symbolize the moon. Guizhong has a dark blue and white color palette with stars in her sleeves. Azhdaha often depicted with the moon and night. Ganyu and Xiao both have moon symbolism. The 'yue' in Liyue means moon. All the other archons -Venti, Nahida, and Ei especially- have a lot of moon symbolism. So not only is he very "sun-like" but the people around him are very "moon-like"

I think to withstand that much criticism, and that much pressure is really astounding. It takes so much mental effort, and emotional focus to get your head straight and focus on the race.

And Charles handled it well with the car issues, hence why he can’t really compare his race pace with Carlos, and just overall did what he can to bring point for the team. It’s just the first race to start off for the season, and he wants to win with Ferrari, so now at least he knows the gap and the effort he needs to make sure they are in P2 in WCC, and to bag that 2nd place in the WDC.

Imagine like the official sports commentators no matter what you do you will always get criticized. And fans, they do stuff which can impact your image negatively too, or worse turn on you. Yet when you’re out in public you don’t have that luxury of being able to wallow or reflect on how you feel because there would ALWAYS be fans hounding him for an autograph (even during an interview!!!) And to compare how he has the media criticism it’s like there are no other drivers to burn out there except for Charles!! Not to mention the team politics (well the family politics of some other drivers…out there arguing with the fans wtf like insane mentality man) Insane. Wish I had his mental strength.

He knows how to be hard on himself, but I’m also glad that when it comes to technical issues, he doesn’t really blame anyone in particular just focuses on how he managed what could’ve done better and moved on

Think this season has that added pressure due to the February happenings. Just insane about when you think about it he has so so so much pressure, and tbh its about the LH moving to ferrari, people criticizing the wrong driver was sacked, his involvement outside F1, and the fact that he’s good looking or the tifosi love him so much or even other people using dirty tactics involving his family or his friends—-things that are constantly brought up to undermine his passion and talent for driving

Would love to see him more focused and DGAF of things outside racing (like answering pointless questions during interviews). Just glad it wasn’t a DNF for him this race!!!

in all seriousness though, the "it robs from lucresare" part had me hollering because like...is ceslu really that fragile? why are they too threatened by juan having one sided incestuous feelings + psychosexual obsession with lucrezia? it's so ridiculous considering that juan wasn't even mad over the idea of cesare and lucrezia having an affair instead he wanted to be a part of it like those losers shouldn't be having all this inferiority complex 😭😭
