i think its so funny when people take the way donnie acts at face value even though its a horrible lie because he's a horrible liar, while understanding leo is bullshitting very well despite him actually being GOOD at bullshitting. many such cases
#personal#rottmnt#although tbf its probably because with leo its unpacked more thoroughly in the movie#donnie is not a morally ambiguous emotionally unavailable bad boy. he is very sensitive actually#he's a little crybaby /aff#and like this isnt hidden. he isnt SECRETLY sensitive or secretly caring its very out in the open actually#he's not hiding it well AT ALL AND THEY ALL KNOW IT LMAOOOOOOOO#i think donnie's perception of himself is somewhat earnest and somewhat. not? he DEFINITELY thinks he's more evil than he actually is#BGHFHDHGJFHG#i think what causes him to lash out and struggle to communicate is his inability to articulate his feelings#they are just too big for him. like its the exact opposite of robotic#he cant force himself to give a fuck but when he DOES its too much#so he yells and lashes out or he shuts down completely#honestly i think the perception of him being too sensitive being a problem makes way more sense than the perception of him being 'robotic'#when it comes to struggles in how his family sees him at least#even in little ways you can see him take it pretty personally when he's insulted#he struggles to blow things off#and i think it would also explain his tendency to like. visibly calm himself down when he gets upset? its a thing he does a lot in the show#he desperately wants to destroy that perception of him because he's trying so hard to close himself off#he doesn't want to be the sensitive one that cant take anything. it especially works in line with his shell#it was a big inspiration for canary continuity tbh. donnie should struggle with being the sensitive one in fic more#mikey is more empathetic and he's more emotional but donnie's quicker to feel offended or take things personally#BACKED UP HEAVILY BY CANON#that 'you can be honest with me! no hard feelings' - 'he's lyinggggggg'#like he's not upset with them babying him as much as he is with them genuinely finding it frustrating that he can fall behind like that#and just cannot take shit like that. so he tries to pull back and not seem as affected as he is#theyre a very cuddly family but mind you they can be actually mean to each other like that!!

my initial knee jerk reaction to lucanis/spite saying "family, enemies, contracts" was bad because it felt like an oversimplification but actually thinking on it i really love that lucanis forces himself into this box to make things make sense in his life. family is unconditional, enemies are to be killed, but contracts is so. interesting... man who promises mila that he will find her father because he does not fail contracts. the same man who tells effe that he will kill her slaver because he needs to turn her from a poor young woman that he sympathises with, into someone he can make a deal with. it's not kindness, it's not weakness, he's just fulfilling a contract, and crows don't break contracts. if he kills a bunch of racist blood mages during that process, then he's not breaking the rules, just bending them. a very convenient excuse to be a good man while still being a crow and assassin. and of course when spite is forced into him, he gets out of it with something familiar! by making another deal! something he could work with, something he HAS to work with, because being just an abomination is unthinkable. if he can work himself out of this problem like he's done with every other contract in his life, in his mind maybe there's some tiny chance that this becomes another job that he can claw his life back from.

I try to imagine that world, somewhere in the future, with no Games, no Capitol. A place like the meadow in the song I sang to Rue as she died. Where Peeta’s child could be safe.
Fortune forever smiles upon me to be the humble recipient of yet another @smallpapers master work. I would call it perfect timing since they sent me this as I was just listening to The Katniss Chronicles' epilogue. But anytime is perfect timing to receive a piece of most glorious work as this! Thank you so, so much to the Great Papers of Tumblr! Forever in adoration of this along with everything else in your portfolio.

Real talk though, even though I draw a lot of silly stuff from the Mafia x Gang leader au, this is by no means a happy story. No one is gonna die (I'm not as strong as Tay 😭) But nevertheless, it won't end in the "best" way, at least not for Nezha.
Anyways more Mafia x Gang leader lore ramble below
Again, Ao Bing is a mafia heir. Despite his family's goal to keep the public at large safe and unaware of the worst parts of humanity, they don't do so through the most legal or moral of means. Every member of the Loong family has had blood on their hands, every member of the Loong family has had to pull a few strings to get what they want, and that includes Ao Bing.
Whether it be because an enemy gang or mafia decides to target Ao Bing to get the upper hand over the fallen Loong family, or because the Li family finds out about the new residents' insidious background, either way, Nezha will find out who Ao Bing truly is. He's done his fair share of crime in his years haunting the streets of Chentang Guan: Theft, property damage– a broken nose or bone here or there– but Nezha hasn't done the things Ao Bing has had to do. Nezha has never killed.
(Admittedly, he's conflicted about this. Who wouldn't be when the man you've been head over heels for, the man who seems to share the same feelings you do, turns out to be a member of a mafia? And one of the most infamous and influencial families at that, especially during the height of their power)
(He doesn't know how to feel about this, doesn't know how to feel about Ao Bing. And the worst part about this- he believes- is the terrifying thought that this doesn't change the way he sees him. Nezha, still high on the ecstacy of young love, can't seem to pull back rose tinted lenses whenever Ao Bing is near, can't stop the way his pulse thrums at every, airy laugh, every soft smile, every small act and drop of attention Ao Bing generously spares his poor heart)
(Ao Bing made him feel seen, dared him to feel vulnerable for what must have been the first time in what felt like forever. He was his equal in almost every way, and looked past that rough exterior and delinquent past he bore proudly to protect himself, and instead saw a lonely boy– much like himself– who desperately needed someone who understood him.)
Even still, Nezha is distanced from Ao Bing. But whether it's by his own doing or by his family's insistence though doesn't matter, because the two won't stay apart for long. When news of Ao Guang's youngest, surviving heir and his newfound weakness becomes known, word spread from the angry whispers of the enemy gangs surrounding the small town of Chentang Guan, up, up until it finds the ears of the members of the Chan Sect, a well-known group of law enforcers that- despite the image they uphold of morality and safety for all- are no better, if not worse than the Loong family who once ruled the city the Chan Sect now watch over.
Seeing some way to extinguish the still burning remnants of the crime family, the members of the Chan Sect make their way to Chentang Guan and striked.
Nezha had always been the target of injustice, but at least a majority of the hardship and shame were thrown at him.
Now though, with not only his family but the families of his members on the line, alongside the threat of losing their livelihoods and future due to the Chan Sect's influence solely because he chose to love the wrong person, Nezha disowns himself, sparing his family from the Chan Sect's threats of blacklisting both his parents and brothers from the entire legal industry and tarnishing their good name. He also disbands his gang, before running away to the only person who he could possibly turn to in a time where he had no one left, and no place to go.
Damning himself to a life of danger and crime, Nezha becomes Ao Bing's right hand, and joins the ranks of the Loong crime family.

enemies to lovers / but you'll never own my heart
@luzon-dove happy birthday, Quinn!! As a present, I decided to draw a piece fanart of your "blood in the walls of the yagami house" AU fic series, since I found it very well-written and full of super interesting ideas and concepts. I hope you like it!
#i (ai)#death note#light yagami#l lawliet#fanart#lawlight#own art#I actually really wanted to write a comment to it but as of the time I'm scheduling this post I still haven't been able to get around to it#but like. GOD. it's good?? like at first when I heard about this AU I wasn't very interested & didn't really get the point#(for me personally I mean. bc I was like 'okay I don't get the idea of lawlight as brothers')#but after that I saw your posts more and also read other fics from you. and your writing your other fics are awesome#plus we also talked more and became friends; you're very nice and your takes are really good#so eventually I checked the series out and WOW. holy shit???? I almost regret not reading it sooner because jesus christ it answered my#initial question & way more. like RIGHT I get it now. it's actually so perfect as a setup all of it. I was greatly impressed#and all characters and relationships are so compelling and well-written and everything. aside from lawlight I especially LOVE your misa#and yagamane. and just. holy shit one of the things that compelled me the most was the family setup of the yagamis#L the bastard son and disgrace of the family... Light. his property. who doesn't want to be. perfect child. could've been a perfect family.#and yet. so he tries to kill L. over and over again. because he could've been perfect could've been normal could've been clean could've--#... if not for L's existence. GOD. and the mind games!! it's so compelling and excellent like idk how to put it#my initial disinterest was caused by 'idk how lawlight would be half-brothers like how would it even work' but as I read I was like. MAN#there's no more perfect answer to that than this like literally HOW did you manage to make this basically 'DN but the conflict is family-#-drama and incest' and make it WORK exactly well. thematically. in terms of plot. for characters and relationships. and everything#absolutely incredible. so anyway yeah I made this!!#incest cw#<- just in case anyone wants to filter it out#alrighty I guess I did write a comment here! though I was also hoping to like comment on details and specific lines

TDP headcanon:
Ok so I saw someone... @adashulaz , I think? Say that Opeli and Lissa look similar, and it gave me an idea:
Opeli and Lissa are either sisters or closely related, which is why Opeli hates Viren so much. She knows what happened between them and why their marriage ended, but as a cleric and someone on the council, she can't really share her true feelings, so instead, she's just sort of passive-agressive to him like we see in the show

I keep trying to write another post occasioned by my digging through books on white Evangelical/Fundamentalist Christian culture but it just sounds silly because I have to use the goofy-ass language they used to talk about it because that's how it was taught to me. Like if I type it out it sounds completely trivial and nonsense. I feel like, most people in the USA feel that they have a grip on this type of Christian Jargon because literally these people have been in some of the highest offices in the land for decades, and like, that's not untrue, but there's a) the way they talk now isn't the way they talked in the years I was growing up; there's been shift, b) I think it's true that many many many people outside this group do have some sense of it but there's still a lot of nuance I think is missing is you weren't raised in it, and c) the Evangelical/Fundamentalist movement is extremely fragmented and theologically diverse so what I grew up with many not apply to many other people. And I think that's one of the things that is alienating about it, and why I'm struggling to sort of shake some of the baggage, because I can't really talk about it! I could only talk about it and be understood with someone who was there. But I don't talk much to people who were there and certainly not about this.
#this tag for ts#religious trauma#the post i want to make is something like#before i ever realized i was a homosexual i knew i was doomed because i was a feminist#but that sounds stupid. why those two things. and it sounds self congratulatory#but it's not either!#'feminists and homosexuals are ruining the family' was a party line#i was not visibly gay in the way that some people i know were (and they were punished because of this)#i would certainly NOW be classed as a homosexual according to the lights of the people saying that stuff#but it was not especially visible then#i was just totally unwilling to buy into complementarianism and i knew i wasn't going to be A Wife#i knew i was going to be a breadwinner. i knew i was going to college. i knew i wanted an equal partner if i got married#i've always felt strongly that i would never take a man's last name#and all of THAT was encompassed in code in 'feminist'#so i knew that when pastors preached sermons about women who were destroying families. i knew that was the kind of woman i'd be#and when i say it like that it STILL sounds wrong#what i was being taught was not 'you are a bad girl'#what i was being taught was 'you are not a woman you are another gender entirely and that gender is evil'#in the same way that 'homosexual' was a different gender from either man or woman#even that doesn't quite get at it. but it's closef#and it's hard to get across how much shame was involved in this#that list of things i gave sounds like. so normal#so neutral. in some circles perhaps even laudable or sensible#it was not that way where and when i was a kid#it was very explicitly evil and disgusting#but that sound ridiculous

the thing about skirata induced daddy issues is that implying their existence isnt even a dunk on kal skirata. it's impossible for kal skirata to occupy a healthy place in nulls' psyche as a father because kal isnt just their father he's used to being their everything and theyre used to it too

If we do get a new Hunger Games book i would really be interested in a victor from 1/2, especially Cashmere and Gloss- careers raised to believe that they are the 'favoured' better district, even when the Capitol still hates them for being district- being trained all your life for the Hunger Games, winning it, and then finding out how the Capitol truly treats Victors, and then realising your little sister is going to volunteer to copy you too.
