Theres also conspiracy theory that tried to connect certain dots. That not only is China involved with this shit but also a certain family in our government and also the US. Most of it are from tiktok, i think i reposted some of those in my account.

Currently, China is making a move on our Palawan (the long island part that looks like a "leg" since our archipelago looks like an animal of some sort) and they have been attacking our navy now, violently. Someone even lost a finger. Its only a matter of time before that finger turns into lives.

The world is really falling apart right now, and every strong countries out there are very power-hungry. Stepping on poor countries like ants, they will not stop until the ants bite back.

The Chinese have been silent during Duterte's administration and it may have a connection as to why China is being violent right now at Marcos's administration.

I feel like we're trapped. China is locking in on us; multiple vessels, numerous chinese students around the regions, POGO and possible spies. The US are silently building their own army possibly preparing to betray us again like they did back then (History time: 1898, i think, is the time we, along with the Americans, defeated the Spaniards. And then they colonized us after learning that Spain actually sold us to the Americans. It was too late. Basically betraying and taking control of us. This is simply a theory, but it is possible that the US might do this again.) And then our own; the Government. There are many corrupt officials here, saying nothing but empty promises, false hope and senseless words. Saying "that's just water", "just give the WPS to china so that there would be no war and no blood." The problem is, if that happens, if we give up OUR territory, then China will simply exploit this rich source of oil and gas reserves, and the abundant fish etc. And that Secret Gentleman's agreement. If what China was saying that 'we did not fulfill the agreement' was true, then Duterte must have sold us to China back then in the pandemic. Because they were silent back then, it was peaceful even though this dispute has been going on since my parents were in highschool (around 1990-2000s)

And then our Vice President, Sara Duterte, stepped down of position after stealing 125 million pesos ($2,123,32.50) in an attempt of disguising it as 'confidential funds'.

This has been making my head hurt so much. What the fuck is going on with this shit, it's so much bullshit in one area.

Hello :) thank you for your post about resilience and resistance. As a fil-am living in the U.S. there are days I feel so hopeless for the motherland. I struggle with filipinos here to continue the fight wherever we are. I struggle with non filipinos to see the importance of international solidarity.

But thank you for the reminder of what we as a people can do to make genuine changes in our world

Of course! And to your point, I think what people forget about an endless struggle is that it doesn't mean you never get over the struggle, but that you constantly get over smaller struggles. They forget the utter joy and hope sparked by little improvements to Filipinos' life and wellbeing by hardworking, caring people.

Some groups like Rural Rising PH are putting power back into the hands of farmers so they don't have to deal with abusive middlemen.

Balik Batik hires indigenous craftspeople to create high end clothing pieces that incorporates traditional patterns and weaving techniques, which means they're paid premium prices for their work instead of, again, having to deal with abusive middlemen who underpay them, AND we see more pride in indigenous art.

We're seeing a lot of support for the transport strike against overpriced Jeepney modernization by drivers, and people are showing up for the little food fairs held by refugees from Palestine to fund the families and schooling for the kids.

In the grand scheme of things, these are small, but they spark so much joy and hope in our future.

The thing they don't tell you about endless struggle against impossible odds is that you don't have a single big win, but many little ones stacking up over time. It can feel so good when you thought it would be hopeless. That's why people fight for it. You fight for joy and hope, not for sadness and hopelessness.

As a studio, one of our dreams for the local industry is for us to develop a Filipino style the way Anime is distinctly Japanese & Cal Arts is American. We do not really know how that can be achieved but we assume it starts with drawing characters that look Pinoy & setting them in local environments. We review a lot of student portfolios & most everyone draws people with sharp noses, fair skin & long legs.

But since Anime does not look ethnically Japanese, maybe we don't really need brown characters to have a distinct Filipino style?

Japanese people are comfortable with their skin. At one point in Japan's history, they closed themselves to the world, seeing the rest of it as inferior. They do not need literal representation in their cartoons because they know who they are & their place in the world. Their pride in being Japanese is deep. Filipinos are the inverse. We were subjugated so we suffer from colonial mentality to the point that being brown, even if it's the majority color, is not an ideal aesthetic. We have Morena Beauties, but skin whitening remains a major business.

Being a predominantly Catholic country, Jesus & Mama Mary are visually represented as caucasian even if they are ethnically Middle Eastern. "God created man in his image" but we do not look like him. Can you imagine what that does to a national self esteem? Meanwhile, Buddha, who is Indian, looks Chinese in China & Japanese in Japan. Making your deity look like you seems to be fundamental in building a national identity.

Many Filipinos have such low regard to being Filipino. Pinoy Pride is tied to accomplishments outside our country. Pride is supposed to be internal, something that does not change whatever your status is and yet Pinoy Pride often exists through validation from 1st World institutions. So MAYBE (just maybe since we are not socio cultural experts) we do need to represent ourselves more literally in cartoons for the sake of every Pinoy kid who was told not to play too long under the sun because they will get dark and ugly.

I'm scared of hearing news about this, so i sometimes refuse to watch the news. However, with tiktok, facebook and instagram, its been informing shit to me. It's all over my fyp.

I made this post to spread awareness of what's going on here:

China's been all aggressive towards our territory, our WEST PHILIPPINE SEA. Then the Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, is possibly distracting our government as the tensions rise on our WPS. And then there's the US, I don't know if we can trust the US especially with that video of an American Politician (correct me if Im wrong at this part because i do not know who that is) saying 'the USA doesn't like the Philippines and they are simply using us'. And the alarming increase of Chinese students around some regions of our country, and the illegal casino businesses (POGO) nationwide [funnily enough, I'm seeing casino game ads whenever I watch youtube or play games, it's so hilarious that theyre on the rise right now that it's annoying me.] And we're all dealing these along with the corrupt assholes in the government, poverty, and overpopulation.

I don't know what to do aside from being at least aware of the situation and spread awareness about this, because you know, I'm just... scared.

We do have some allies but I just hope no war or conflict will break out. There's too many youngsters here, and I still want to experience things i want to experience. I still want to see my 2 little brothers grow up. I still want to experience being known, being remembered, y'know?

If I die, I will gladly say, "Fuck off" on anyone who tries to invade us, may it be China or the US or anyone else. If China threatens a nuclear bomb, then death is certainly my wish at that point.

I can't be silent at this, I pray that China stops bullshitting our territory and withdraw from any conflicts they planned. We're all just people, there's so many out there scared because of this situation.

I hope this sheds some light.
