On the edge of love and death (Zolusan fanfic)
Summary:
After the incident with Germa's raid suit, Sanji considers dying to prove he's human enough. He can't help but think that death is his only way to confirm he can still feel something. His feelings towards Luffy (and a very stubborn swordsman) might save him from that fate.

total: 8 albums top 3 albums: to pimp a butterfly (kendrick lamar), absolute madness (queef jerky), hit me hard and soft (billie eilish) click read more for full reviews :3
Absolute Madness - Queef Jerky (2024)
Fav song: Liver
The first thing I noticed about this album is the production. The album has such a darker and more menacing production which goes well with Dev’s vocals. It also contrasts nicely to the more sillier lyrics. It ALSO adds a lot of atmosphere to the album that helps my brain paint a picture with the music (synesthesia win). I think this production is an improvement from previous albums, in turn improving all the other parts of the music that Dev and Nick are already very talented in. The features on this album also go well with the production and I really enjoyed them. Overall I think this is a solid album from a duo you can always count on to make good music.
Rating: 8/10
King Night - Salem (2010)
Fav song: Killer
A witch house album makes an appearance in the reviews! I’ve been dipping my toes into the genre and this album was my first listen to Salem, a band credited with pioneering the genre. It’s very clear they were inspired by digital hardcore and southern rap and fused the two genres together to create something completely new. I really enjoyed listening to this album as it had a very dark and menacing atmosphere. The rapping sections that were sprinkled throughout the album added to the mood, keeping the album from being just instrumentals. I tend to have little to say about albums that are mostly instrumental but I do still heavily enjoy them. So overall, I really liked this one and you might like it if you like darker and more atmospheric electronic music that includes some rap. I might listen to Salem’s 2020 album sometime down the line!
Rating: 7/10
To Pimp A Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar (2015)
Fav song: i
This is a phenomenal album that fuses jazz into the rap. The album gets more political than GK,MC which is instantly made clear by the album cover. The song structure isn’t as experimental as GK,MC but there are sections that are more spoken word than rap. I especially enjoy the repeated spoken word sections that cap multiple of the songs, getting longer and longer until it culminates at the end of Mortal Man. I think the production on this album makes it sound so timeless, something aided by the jazz. (If I remember correctly) Kendrick enlisted jazz greats to create new jazz pieces for the album, instead of just sampling jazz classics. This marrying of the two genres, which were pioneered by black people, furthers the political message of being a Black American. As a Black American, this is so wonderful to hear and deepens my appreciation for Kendrick Lamar and his music. Rap music is much harder for me to review as it takes me multiple listens to understand the bars, but I really love this from just the first listen. And I’m sure my love will grow with more listens, the way it did for GK,MC.
Rating: 9/10
There’s A Place I Want To Take You - Kurt Travis (2019)
Fav song: Best Way
This album was very pleasant to listen to! The guitars and keyboards used create a dreamy atmosphere, especially in Best Way, which sounds like a dream pop song. Kurt’s vocals also add to the dreamy vibe of the album, with them being very beautiful. He’s best known for being a vocalist for Dance Gavin Dance, and he’s lowkey my fav of all the ones they’ve had. His voice just carries this clearness that enhances the music and is just mesmerizing to listen to. This album is perfect for the coming warm days where I can picture myself sitting next to a body of water and listening to it.
Rating: 6/10
Hit Me Hard And Soft - Billie Eilish (2024)
Fav song: Chihiro
This album is such a good step forward after Happier Than Ever. It’s apparent that Billie has become comfortable in this more contemporary pop sound than the edgier indie pop that first made her popular. This album also sounds like a much more mature version of some of the Don’t Smile At Me era songs, which keeps me coming back as someone who became a fan before When We All Fall Asleep came out. I think it’s amazing that Billie can finally explore her sexuality in a more open way on this album, after the huge speculation on it during her entire career. Back to the music itself, I really enjoy how strings are used in contrast with the electronic segments, melding beautifully to create something unique. I also really like the decision to release zero singles, forcing listeners to listen to the album as a single unit. It establishes that the album is a cohesive piece that needs to be listened to in its entirety and in order to be experienced correctly. Overall, I really enjoyed this album and continue to be proud of how Billie has matured as a musician over the years.
Rating: 8/10
Coup de Grâce - Seeyouspacecowboy (2024)
Fav song: Lubricant Like Kerosene
I was pleasantly surprised by this album. It's a very theatrical sasscore album, with soft piano juxtaposing the heavy screaming in a fun way! This is for sure out of my comfort zone but in a way that was really enjoyable for me. I really like the guitar riffs that almost sound like they’re being played from an organ. This album is kind of like a rock opera about the wild west. Anyways, while it didn’t blow my mind, I’m glad that I want to spend more time with this album! It’s a breath of something harder in my music rotation which I will never complain about.
Rating: 7/10
Rodeo - Travis Scott (2015)
Fav song: 90210
This album is such a great 2015 rap/hiphop album. The features solidify that aspect well, with a ton of big rappers and some indie artists that add nice melodies to songs that already have strong melodies. The atmosphere of this album is insane, feeling like a smoky dark party. I love the small talking sections, they add to the vibe in a fun way. I also really appreciate the long songs after being so used to the shorter song trend from the past few years. Overall I really liked this album and am definitely gonna revisit it a lot in the future.
Rating: 8/10
Clancy - Twenty One Pilots (2024)
Fav song: Overcompensate
I have a complicated relationship with 21p. They were extremely important to me for a couple years when Trench came out and I have a soft spot for their older stuff. However I have been loving their newer stuff less and less. So I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this album. I’ll say upfront that I didn’t love it, and I really only liked a couple songs. However, I do think this is a good ending to the Dema story they had been telling in Trench and Scaled and Icy. That storytelling shows, with this album sounding theatrical at points. I do appreciate the exploration of a more garage band sound in some of the songs, and the synths in other songs. I also do like the grainy texture all over the album (I’m always gonna love grain and noise). I have kinda gotten over Tyler rapping and I don’t really care for it anymore. After relistening to the album a second time, I do think some songs have to be listened to a few times to be really appreciated. I think this album is a perfectly fine addition to their discog and I am curious where they go next now that this Dema world is supposedly wrapped up.

Finn/Lenny
The whole mission was basically a big near death experience for all the soldiers.
His pulse was stilling racing but he probably was good to stroll through the woods. Five minutes later he was questioning his thought process.
Finn feels his leg hit something hard, but doesn’t even remember the pain, instead his brain skips that part and focuses on the annoying light hurting his eyes and head.
“Your pulse is still rushing, I wouldn’t recommend moving too much, it doesn’t sound like you have the strongest blood cells.” The voice and appearance nearly gave him a heart attack.
A vaguely familiar figure seemed to be towering over him. Frowning with glowing eyes.
No, he means they are literally glowing.
The stupidly tall tubby hesitantly(?) holds his hand out. While Finn didn’t want to interact with the rough fabric of the gloves, he also did not want to keep lying on the dirt and grass.
He shakily and feeling dizzy grips the hand. He notes how weird the other’s ears are. Is this the odd guy who arrived at the camp with a cat?
His brain slowly clicks who he is and feels like an idiot. This is why he almost failed school.
Even though he’s been in the camp for as long as he has, he rarely interacted with the dude, and isn’t sure if anyone knows his name. The last time he spoke to him WAS on that mission where they were only alive because of this tall odd guy.
He had to be fucking with him, no one can hear blood cells. Finn didn’t pay much attention in science class, there was always plenty of simps in school for him to manipulate them to do his homework for him.
“It’s too dark.” He huffs.
The indigo Tubby rolls his eyes. “Then why were you walking in the dark?”
Finn scowls. “What are you, a detective?” He grunts in surprise when he drags him back towards camp by the back of his shirt.
He could only cross his fingers that Dutch wasn’t waiting for him, maybe hopefully dead asleep or talking to Miles.
But the universe has never been in his favor.
“Finn Perry White! Where the hell did you wander off to?!” Everyone out of their tent whipped their heads around at Dutch’s irritated tone.
“Walking in the dark like a goddamn idiot.” The taller releases the hold on his shirt, making Finn stumble a bit.
Dutch stares at him slowly. “...Are you ever going to tell us your name?”
He scoffs, “What business is it of yours?”
“You just dragged my brother into camp by his shirt, I feel like that makes it my business.” Dutch’s ember eyes glare at him, but the other wasn’t fazed at all.
The purple eyed Teletubby looks off somewhere, Finn follows his line of sight to see him glaring at the lavender General.
He’s surprised to see Jim scurry into his tent, he’s never really seen the General be scared by anyone.
“...Lenny.”
Dutch continues staring at him.
“...You’re not getting a last name.”
His brother grunts in irritation which surprisingly seemed to amuse Lenny. Finn has never once seen this man smile, just glare at everyone with an angry frown.
“Fine.” He walks over, grabs Finn by his arm and pulls him to the med tent.
“Where are we going?”
“To Gary, we need to make sure your heart rate is okay.”
“I’m fine!” He swore he saw Lenny laugh at his ‘dramatic behavior’ as his brother likes to call it.

"well, the laser vision IS a plus, because it's cool watching her set stuff on fire from 50 yards away. and i like that she can fly and get things off of high shelves for me. but those aren't the ONLY reasons why i like her!"
(also i hope you enjoy retro batdad, because that's where my brain's at right now. i'm delighted that starfire's design is already so incredibly 60s; she fits right in 🌠)
