Even in the Next One - Chapter 1

Hey, did you want another fic? This one is a role reversal and Claire is the one who wakes up in Japan with memories of her past life, and she is determined to get her wife again. Its got silly, feels and some angst, just in a modern AU, sorta but not really. I'm determined to get these two together again so please give it a read. The more I think about The Bad Batch as a complete show but incomplete story, the more I think that if they’re doing what I think they could be doing, the more I think it could work really well from a storytelling perspective. So well that I’m actually annoyed about it.

... So in my time not sleeping since 4 AM yesterday (yeah I never got that nap. Insomnia sucks), I've been rewatching a retrospective of the old Sonic comics in semi-preparation for the Multi-muse that will launch... eventually. Which gave me an idea that I think I'm going to commit to.

I'm gonna read all of Archie Sonic.

But not just that, I think it'd be fun to make an adventure out of it, read a new issue each day and chronical my thoughts on it on the new account when it launches. Because in spite of how big of a fan I am of the character and his world, I've never actually read the biggest part of his history. I've seen chunks of it through the new waves of Retrospectives, and I did try to get into a few times before it got cancelled. Once during the Reboot Post Mega Man crossover (gotta read that too, I've been getting more into the Blue Bomber lately), once during the sequel to that crossover which I sadly never got to finish (even though it was awesome but the library I was borrowing them from didn't have the second half available), and finally once a few months before the end, picking up the Sonic Archives starting with the Sonic Adventure arc. I actually managed to buy a few of them, as well as the two issues of Sonic Mega Drive which I just ADORE

But the thing is... this is a lot to go through, and I mean a LOT. The comic released over 500 issues during its 20+ year run, in varying degrees of quality. And while I do want to tackle all of it eventually, including the fan made continuation which I've heard good things about, I think I'm going to need to take it in chunks if I've got any chance of finishing it.

... also gotta watch SatAM because I've never seen that either.

So, you might be wondering why I'm even posting this here. Well, I'm indecisive and I don't know if I should start from the beginning, start from issue #160 where Ian Flynn took over the book and it actually gets good, or if I should start in the middle with the Sonic Adventure stuff like I had tried before.

And instead of just flipping a coin on it, I'm just gonna let you guys decide!

... And before you ask, I'm not touching Knuckles yet. I'm not ready for Knuckles.

this has no basis in anything but i can't shake the idea of ganondorf just being an incredibly reticent teenager (going along with my now-stuck headcanon of him being very isolated as a kid) who spent a ton of time just sort of observing people and absorbing information, who then around the age of stepping up to more active/public kingship was like 'okay I've done that stage, time to sink all those skill points i accumulated into charisma, manipulation and theatrics' which he views as a perfectly normal progression but seemed kind of sudden and bizarre from the outside. what I'm saying is that the original form of Nabooru's 'i don't know you any more, you are not the man I knew' was 'dude what the fuck weren't you an introvert'

5 > 6: Toxins, caring too much for Peri, losing Peri after all he went through to save her

King's Quest Fic, "Path of Kingship" - Chapter 5: Interlude

Somewhere not far beyond the mountains, but a fair way underground, a hand took pen to ink. The hand had to pull off its armoured glove first, of course, and spend a few moments filing down the ends of its claws, which always made writing difficult. (How he hated those claws. Even after drastic attempts to remove them, they kept growing back.)

When all was ready, the writer paused. The quill tip hovered over the parchment, casting uncanny shadows in the flickering lantern light. A few short years earlier, this would have been simple. Dash off a few words to the Merchant of Miracles, and wait for his order to come in. But a while back, the Merchant had seemingly vanished from the face of the earth. An apt way to put it, the writer thought smugly. In any case, that double-speed double-speaker wasn’t in any position to fetch what he needed. 

The Hobblepots could do. Ever since the disappearance, the alchemists’ shop had become a sort of delivery hub to fill the gap, even for items that had nothing to do with their trade. The Hobblepots had connections and were used to ordering from far afield. Daventry folk had come to rely on them for anything that couldn’t be bought locally.

Chester wouldn’t notice anything amiss. But that shortsighted, judgmental Muriel had an extra brain cell or two, he had to admit. She might recognize his handwriting, even after all this time. He could try the old “writing with your other hand” hack. But he suspected it would look all too similar to his old, messy handwriting anyway. He had still had full claws when she first taught him to form the letters.

But there was nothing for it. There was no one else to write it for him. A few of those dimwits downstairs could basically read. They spent hours poring over their fairy tale books painstakingly deciphering the letters and sounding them out in half-gibberish. But he doubted any of them could write.

 Fine. A proper forgery it would have  to be. He seemed to remember that there was a handwritten dedication on the flyleaf of his second-hand Breaking the Spirits of Hideous Beasts. He could use that writer’s letter as a model. He’d have to take it slowly, but then, he was in no rush. This project would be months in the making even if he got the letter on its way this very day. Slow, steady, and perfectly crafted. That’s the way of a successful endeavour.

He propped the book open on the desk against the gnarled stone wall. Carefully, he began to scratch away at the parchment in a broad, round hand:

I know nothing about minecraft youtube but your prison arc posting has me intrigued. Where can one go to watch it?

ooooohkay this is a big one

first off, the prison arc had a lot happen behind the scenes. we got mentions from other characters about the conditions, especially from the Warden when talking to others about it. also, since the man locked up in said prison didn't stream on the server, we only get snippets from the few visits he was granted, or the Warden's POV when he was uhhhh taking care of him so to speak. either way, you will have to look closely, unless some kind soul replies with a full playlist of Just Prison Clips(tm)

it also depends on what you were intrigued by in particular. there is a full playlist here which I genuinely hope is complete. the clips that include the Warden talking about the prison aren't there, from my brief overview of the videos.

if you're interested in the whole thing, watch all. if you are interested in the part where it gets, well, interesting, with the torture and all that good stuff, I'd skip to Quackity's VOD. (here are his VODs only)

the downside to watching only the torture is missing out on Techno's arrival and The Prison Podcast. here are Techno's VODs, with the prison lore being in the VODs Visiting Dream up to JAILBREAK. would recommend watching the AVENGING RANBOO one as well to get the full picture for the last arc of the prison-related stuff, aka Daedalus Arc. here's a playlist.
