Oggi vogliamo parlarvi di un argomento un po’ diverso dal solito, molte piattaforme digitali che utilizziamo quotidianamente non sono sostenibili o fanno scelte eticamente discutibili. Attraverso i social network e internet, vengono emesse oltre un miliardo di tonnellate di CO2 ogni anno, la nostra etica digitale, ci ha spinto a fare delle scelte controcorrente, per evitare di produrre energia ed inquinamento inutile, la crisi climatica altro non è che una pandemia al rallentatore. A tal ragione, abbiamo deciso di evitare la pubblicazione di “Stories e Reels” limitare il numero di “post, tweet, video” e ridurre l’impatto digitale del nostro sito web e aumentarne la qualità dei contenuti. Heute auf dem Nachhauseweg über den Hochharz gefahren. Dort machen sich Monokulturpflanzungen, Ausbreitung des Borkenkäfers und stetig steigende Jahrestemperaturen besonders krass bemerkbar. Viel graues Totholz wenig grün. Viele Orte die ich als Jugendlicher vor 25-30 Jahren besuchte waren damals bewaldet und grün und heute prägen karge Gipfel umgeben von jeder Menge abgestorbener Fichten das Bild der Landschaft. Sicherlich wird die Natur sich auch dafür evolutionieren, dennoch braucht sie unsere Unterstützung - und zwar jetzt. Lasst uns das Verbrennen nach und nach einstellen. Time for a paradigm shift in architecture

None of us can be sure what will happen to the world in the future.

But let’s take a conservative approach and assume that there is no all-powerful deity, no miracle cure for the many diseases of the planet, and no way to predict or prevent catastrophes like flooding or drought. Instead, it seems clear that our future is one of the massive population increases, massive migrations from regions affected by climate change toward safer areas with sufficient food and water supplies. In other words, this is a future with millions of climate refugees — people on the move across continents because their homes have been rendered unlivable.

Time for a paradigm shift in architecture, aesthetics — yes, but not at the cost of the environment.

Each material used should be cataloged and available for reuse.

Barriere coralline nel Mediterraneo

Al largo della costa pugliese è avvenuta sensazionale scoperta. Una barriera corallina a 50 metri di profondità. Non c'è niente del genere nel Mediterraneo. I coralli delle formazioni coralline, e anche quelli segnalati in Puglia, sono madrepore, appartenenti alla classe di organismi chiamata antozoi. Nulla a che vedere, comunque, con le barriere coralline tropicali, presenti solo a basse profondità perché i coralli che le formano vivono in stretta simbiosi con alghe unicellulari che li trasformano in animali fotosintetici.

Ma le barriere coralline tropicali potrebbero vivere in Mediterraneo? In effetti stanno entrando moltissime specie tropicali attraverso il Canale di Suez. La grande barriera corallina australiana sta morendo per il troppo caldo e gli organismi fuggono dalle zone diventate ostili e vanno a cercare condizioni migliori. Le trovano in Mediterraneo, dove prima arrivano le specie più mobili, come pesci, meduse, crostacei ma stanno arrivando anche le alghe e ora inizia a comparire, di fronte ad Israele, qualche corallo tropicale. Queste specie sono trattate come invasori ma, in effetti, si tratta di rifugiati climatici. Il riscaldamento globale che li uccide ai tropici sta rendendo il Mediterraneo sempre più ideale per lo sviluppo di organismi tropicali. E quindi, forse, arriveremo ad avere altre barriere coralline in Mediterraneo.
