The Dark Crystal Age Of Resistance and Willow are two of my favorite fantasy shows, both go back to mythical storytelling, fairytales and are about the cycle and meaning of life, coming of age, love in all it's forms, redemption, integration of the shadow and our connection to the world and other's. Sadly both series are crimielly underrated and they didint have a chance to grow with a second season but I still have hope that at least one of them will get the recognition and respect they deserved.

any fantasy or fantasy-esque show recs? Something anywhere from a:tla to arcane, with just good worldbuilding and characters (esp good female characters), where there is an overarching storyline. No preference if it's animated or live action.

Y’ALL if you're looking for a queer fantasy show to watch, I got just the thing. HBO Max just came out with a show called Teenage Kiss: The Future is Dead (B.A.: O Futuro Está Morto, in the original Portuguese). It's set in a futuristic, dystopic Brazil in which the Amazon has been replaced by an industrial park and all adults are affected by a disease called monochromatism, which turns them lifeless and gray.

In this conservative world, the rebellious youth stands out, specially a group called the Teenage Kiss. Under the guise of a fashion brand, these teens unite to speak out against the authoritarian government and fight for their individuality, each character with their unique gift, such as super-hearing or convincing people to do whatever you want.

Then, some of their members start showing up dead, killed by a mysterious entity with seemingly supernatural abilities. Our protagonist, Ariel, is dragged to the center of the plot when he's recruited by Lin Lin, who can force the truth out of anyone, and Tomás, who can enchant people with his stare — though their powers don't seem to work on him. Now, Ariel needs to discover his gift and fight against the monster that's targeting his new-found family. And also the government, because fuck the government.

The show is very interesting visually — the contrast between the gray, authoritarian society and the colorful, wild youth — which helps further the message and grab your attention. It's very easy to get attached to these characters and I can't wait to see how their stories end. If this show is cancelled Istg. Also, not a single one of them is straight, if that helps.

please watch it I want it to be renewed so bad and I need more funding for brazilian shows pls pls I swear it's good

milfs galore, found family, trauma and healing, deep lore that transforms the story as it unfolds, kickass soundtrack that cuts to the heart of the story, epic magic fights, parts of our world showing up in unexpected interesting ways, diverse queer rep, diverse poc rep, a varied magic system, haunting the narrative, magic systems as systems of control vs freedom...I could go on. And I probably will.

For now I'll just say, if these were things you loved in toh, you will go wild for wot.

I am so over how absolutely distastefully sad Fantasy shows are. I just finished Carnival Row and I had hoped at least a few of my favs would make it- the Barrack, Kaine… why do fantasy shows have to be so damn gloomy and fucking dark why cant we get a little escape. Historical fictions are full of blood and war, thrillers too, and so are most drama shows these days. When will we finally get happy shows????? I AM JUST SO FUCKING TIRED OF THIS. Also I love a good queer representation, but Tourmaline and Vignette seemed a bit forced. Vignette looked to be much more in love with Philo.
