Our generation is the first generation to have access to a phone 24/7, and we ran with it. Many people's screen time ranges from 4 to 12 hours, which is no good. Many people's excuse is that they do not know how to live without a device since it's been with them since birth. Here are a few things you can do instead of being on your phone. 

Read a book. This is a classic, and although it may seem tedious, books are filled with so much knowledge and carry interesting topics. Find a genre you like and pick up a book that calls your name. 

Go for a walk. This is a good way to hit your step count, and it's a good way to refresh. 

Bake something yummy. It's always time-consuming whenever you bake something new, and this is a good way to practice your baking skills. 

Go cloud-watching. When did you last sit down outside and look up at the clouds? I recently had to do this for a politics class; it was so much fun!

Learn a new language. Learning different languages can get you into other rooms and help you be a better candidate for a higher-positioning job. 

Pick up a new craft—knitting, painting, coloring, pottery, etc. 

Go out. Do anything, shop, go to a park, and meet new people.

T-Shirt Experiment (Again)

I'm really excited about this post! I had a lot of fun turning a damaged t-shirt from the thrift store into an open-front shirt that I'm genuinely excited to wear...once I finish Part 2, anyway.

As with all of my sewing projects, this is 100% hand sewn with a minimum of supplies. This is something of a tutorial but largely me just kinda...figuring it out as I go, step-by-step. (There's also no video, just text and pictures.)

I think a lot of people are really afraid to start a project for fear of Doing It Wrong, and I am here to tell you: Maybe that’s okay? Maybe it’s okay if your project sucks a little bit, if you have fun doing it. Perhaps even if it’s not that good, you’ll still have something wearable by the end. I guarantee that if you wear your shirt out, no one in the general public is going to look at you and notice puckering along the stitches or any other errors. People don’t care that much. And well, I’m kind of hoping that my experiments are inspirational for other people to mess around with their stuff and to try things. Even if that inspiration is pretty much, “Well, if this idiot can do it, maybe I can, too.”

New post up on my crafty & witchy blog, Craft Witch! I'm continuing my big t-shirt upcycling project with a patch I embroidered to cover up a paint stain on the hem. (I hated the texture, not the look.) From the outside, an innocuous black rectangle. From the inside...

(Yes, Ghost fans, you are 100% correct about the inspiration. The rest of you...look, I'm sorry, I'm me, it can't be helped.) Regardless of source, though, I think we can all enjoy having the option of letting our clothes swear for us in a discreet way, right?

Because my #1 rule of crafting, as with most things, is that you should be having fun and yes, that includes shit you intend to wear. And I hope you get some inspiration to do weird shit to your clothes, too.
