Shortly before we got together, my girlfriend Jane had an abortion.

This was over a decade ago now, and had she been forced to give birth our lives would be very different. I am so glad we are where we are.  

Today the guardian published this: Women must be allowed to defend abortion as a sex-based right - Sonia Sodha*

With the overturning roe v wade it was only a matter of time before the gender critical movement used this as a way to attack trans people,

all the while they're still accepting funds from the far right christian lobby groups campaigning against both trans rights and abortion access.

If you wish to control my body or other people's bodies, i wish you healing or i wish you death.

Foot notes * Trans men and non-binary people can and do need abortion access not just women.

"Sex-based right" is a transphobic dog whistle used to remove rights from trans and non-binary people.

If you need more explaining on this, look somewhere else. I'm tired.

Ah, yes, because it's not like Cap faced prejudice or something, and it's one of the major reasons he was friends with Peggy before he got juiced.

It's not like the statement is about personal integrity.

It's not like Agent Carter was the head of a gigantic, secretive, powerful, corrupt government agency (which ironically made her The Man).

It's not like doing things just because lots of people tell you to do them is a fallacy or anything.

It's not like racism, sexism, and other forms of prejudice have often been the normal and common way to think in many, many societies.

It's not like one of Carter's lines in Cap 2 was saying that sometimes you need to give up on things and start over.

Nah, the statement suddenly becomes just fine because a woman said it. Even though the point of that bit in the movie was for Cap to accept it.

Sarcasm aside, I haven’t heard a single person complain about that speech in the 17 years since it was published. And I used to be a scans_daily regular.
