Will you be allowing AI art?
The moderators discussed this at length. At this time, the answer is No. There is a fine line between artists using references for inspiration in the creation of their works, and a computer algorithm using scraped images online in the creation of something else that may or may not resemble the source(s). Some people perceive AI as a tool to create, others to steal with. Since the mods could not come to a complete agreement on the matter, the answer has to be No. If something major develops between now and then when it comes to artist credit/compensation, etc. then we'll reconsider.
Until then, please consider commissioning an artist or making something yourself. Besides, making fanart and writing fanfiction are not your only options to participate. You can also make digital photo collages and moodboards (also called fan edits), fan [book] trailers, and playlists on Spotify and/or YouTube! You can even share one song and/or put the lyrics on a nice background using a free online program like Canva. There are even ambient mood mixers (like ambient-mixer.com) where you can make your own looping background track!
Headcanons are welcome! Ramble on about theories you have, or AUs you'd like to see, or who you would cast if the show gets made, and share photos of that performer!
There are also digital doll makers or RPG figure makers. Consider sites like: Hero Forge, Reroll, Meiker.io, Picrew.me, or even Azalea's Dolls or Doll Divine. For those who play video games (like the Sims, Skyrim, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, Dragon Age Inquisition, etc), you can make your own character! You could even customize an existing doll or figurine: Make a unique funko pop, or customize a poseable doll. For example, a little girl wanted Jareth and Sarah dolls from the movie Labyrinth, and a very creative dad made it happen!)
You can also make something modern (for Modern AU day!) by trying out hairstyles, fantasy makeup, nail art, or digital outfit planners, or even do cosplay! (Some people go so far as to get ACOTAR-inspired tattoos, but only do this if you want to keep it forever!!)
If you want to delve into crafts, there's stained glass, book nooks and miniatures, bookbinding, bookmarks, crochet (amigurumi dolls!), cross-stitch/embroidery, altered books, clay/polymer clay sculptures, and so much more.
This is all about having fun. If you are still unsure about what you'd like to do or make, likes and reblogs are always appreciated.
Thank you for reaching out! The inbox is open if you have any more questions. 😊

Hiii everyone if you've ever thought about getting into FFXIV it's currently 50% off. This is not a joke, until November 28 you can literally pay half price for this game, available on the Square Enix store and the PlayStation store. I know you hear the free trial memes all the time but I'm begging you guys to play the full game if you think it’s something you'll enjoy.
Tumblr media
This (titled FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE COMPLETE EDITION) is gonna be your cheapest option to get the full game (A Realm Reborn + Heavensward + Stormblood + Shadowbringers + Endwalker). It also comes with a free 30 day subscription. Yes the game is a purchase + subscription, I can’t do anything about it, but it's entirely possible for you to only subscribe and play for the month there’s new story content out (something the devs have literally encouraged), so you only pay when you play.
Here's the US site, the UK site, and the PlayStation site. For computer users, make sure you're getting the version that'll work on your computer's OS (PC or Mac).

Tumblr media
Proton 8.0 launches with a ton of fixes for Linux games and further functionality for Steam Deck. Along with requiring a GPU that supports Vulkan 1.3. Due to make non-Linux Steam games even more playable. So, there's a new update, Proton 8.0 that you might want to know about. You know, if attune to playing games on your PC. But there's one important detail you need to know: your Linux PC needs a GPU that supports Vulkan 1.3. As previously stated, in order to use Proton 8.0. If you don't have that, you won't be able to use the update. Check NVIDIA and AMD. Assuming you have the right GPU, here's what you can expect from Proton 8.0. There are many games that weren't playable before that are playable now. These include titles like Forspoken, Samurai Maiden, Dead Space (2023), and more. There are also some other games now playable on Linux. Like Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, and Atelier Meruru.
Proton 8.0 Game Fixes
But that's not all. Proton 8.0 also fixes a lot of issues with other games. For example, it fixes a problem where the launcher for Final Fantasy XIV Online would always show a scrollbar, even when it wasn't necessary. It also fixes a problem with A Plague Tale: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Requiem where the on-screen keyboard would show up when you started the game on Steam Deck. There are also a bunch of other fixes for things like crashes, rendering issues, and keyboard input problems for various games. Proton 8.0 also includes some upgrades for things like multi-touch Linux support. As well as force feedback compatibility for BeamNG and Forza Horizon 5. Likewise, Proton 8.0 includes some updates to a few things that it uses in order to work. These include updates to Wine, dxvk, and vkd3d-proton. These updates support Proton 8.0 operating with more games. So, in short, eager to add more games to play on Linux, Proton 8.0 might be something you want to check out. Again, assuming your GPU supports Vulkan 1.3 (Check NVIDIA and AMD.). Adding support for some new games, and fixes a bunch of issues for other titles. Be sure to check out the full changelog for details.

Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail is a fifthcoming expansion
Tumblr media
Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail fifth expansion pack, which is eagerly anticipated. MacOS, Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S are supported. Released July 2, 2024, over two years after Endwalker. Masayoshi Soken composed and Naoki Yoshida produced and directed, like with its predecessors. The expansion pack will be sold separately for existing players, although the “Complete Edition” that came with Heavensward now includes Dawntrail and all expansions.
In Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail, players journey to Tural, a continent on the other side of the sea, to take part in a succession ceremony that will decide Tulliyollal’s next leader. They will act as supporters for Wuk Lamat, a daughter of the present leader. Allies from Eorzea who back various candidates join them. Dawntrail was intended to be the player’s character, the Warrior of Light’s “summer vacation” following the events of Endwalker. The expansion pack introduced two new character classes, a new playable race, and more regions in addition to raising the level cap and starting the game’s first significant graphical revamp since its 2013 relaunch.
Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Game Play
Dawntrail’s gameplay is pretty much the same as the original game. In a persistent universe that reacts to their actions, players engage in interaction with one another. The two new classes in Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail are the paint-based mage Pictomancer and the cunning dual-wielding class Viper. Other nimble swordsmen in the Final Fantasy series, such Zidane from Final Fantasy IX, served as inspiration for Viper. For some assaults, vipers can combine their two swords to create a more powerful two-handed weapon.
With their magical paint, pictomancers can perform spells that are both harmful and beneficial to the group. It is modelled after the magic of Relm Arrowny from Final Fantasy VI. In this expansion, the beloved character Krile becomes a Pictomancer. The most recently constructed classes Pictomancer and Viper, for example feel “more complete” than those included in previous expansions, according to Director Yoshida. Beastmaster will also be included as a “Limited” job, subject to the same limitations on player matching as Blue Mage.
Characters and the setting
Dawntrail is set on Tural, a continent located far to the west on the other side of the sea. Southeast Asia and Latin America served as inspiration for Tural. Yok Tural, the southern half of the continent, has two major cities: Urqopacha, a hilly area reminiscent of the Andes with Peruvian and Incan architecture, and Tulliyollal, the seat of a coastal metropolis modelled after Mexico metropolis.
Kozama’uka is a part of Yok Tural that resembles the Amazon rainforest. The “Wild West” of America is comparable to Xak Tural in the north. The Bermuda Triangle is the source of a third region known as Shades’ Triangle.
Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Progress
Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail was intended to be the player’s character, the Warrior of Light’s “summer vacation” following the conclusion of a ten-year tale in Endwalker. The show’s producer and director, Naoki Yoshida, views it as the beginning of “season two” of a long-running television series and intends to use it to set the stage for an additional ten years of production. Resetting the conflict’s stakes from a peril that may end the universe to one that was more personal was crucial for Yoshida.
The game’s first significant graphical upgrade since its initial 2010 release was a primary undertaking of this expansion, featuring enhanced player and environmental textures, real-time lighting, and more intricate and varied environmental features like grass and flowers.
Additionally, it supports several graphics upscaling technologies, including FSR and DLSS. Since several approaches were still impractical for a real-time online game, Yoshida referred to this as the “first phase” of the game‘s graphical enhancements, with plans to implement them in the future.
This expansion’s emphasis on the “New World” garnered considerable criticism before to release. For the purpose of accurately and respectfully portraying indigenous cultures in the game, the production team conducted further study. The game‘s central subject is the convergence of disparate cultures and values into mutual comprehension.
Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail offers a vast, changing world of danger, mystery, and adventure. This envisaged expansion may include:
New Continent: Discover Dawntrail, Eorzea’s eastern continent. Life and secrets await in every corner of this diverse region, from deep rainforests to towering mountain ranges.
New Dungeons and Raids: Explore ancient ruins, dangerous jungles, and forbidden temples for treasures and powerful artefacts. Work with other adventurers to defeat difficult raids and legendary enemies.
Expanded Storyline: Explore Dawntrail and its mysterious denizens on a trip that will test your courage, wit, and resolve. As you work to bring peace to difficult countries, meet new allies and foes with different goals.
New PvP Modes:Experience spectacular PvP combat in new settings, including enormous battlegrounds and deadly one-on-one duels. Compete against gamers from around the world to become Dawntrail’s champion.
Housing and Customization: Customizable housing lets you create your own hideaway. Decorate your living room with a variety of items and invite people over to admire your work.
Improved user interfaces, matchmaking algorithms, and performance across all platforms make gameplay smoother and more seamless. “Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail” promises huge fights, compelling characters, and stunning scenery.

Cover Reveal – Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/cover-reveal-avatar-frontiers-of-pandora/
Cover Reveal – Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora
Tumblr media
Massive Entertainment is best known as the team behind Tom Clancy’s The Division, but it’s tackling a different beast in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. This open-world action game unfolds in a new section of James Cameron’s wildly successful Avatar universe, and this new chapter in the mythos graces Game Informer’s cover this month.
We visited Massive’s studio in Malmö, Sweden, to play a couple of hours of the game set in the Kinglor Forest, one of Frontier’s three regions. Our 12-page story also includes an exclusive breakdown of the game’s other two regions, the Upper Plains and the Clouded Forest, which we got to tour during our visit. We interviewed the game’s key design leads to learn how Frontiers of Pandora came to be, what it was like working with James Cameron’s production studio Lightstorm, and get answers to some of the burning questions surrounding the game. Be sure to also visit our coverage hub by clicking the banner below as we’ll have exclusive online features and videos throughout the month.
Our cover art features the game’s customizable protagonist alongside their ikran taking the fight to the RDA.
Tumblr media
The Game Informer Gold cover features the same cover image with “Game Informer” in flashy, metallic gold. Each Gold issue is numbered, too, making it even more special for collectors.
Tumblr media
Issue 361 is chock full of exciting features. With the 10th anniversary of indie hit Papers, Please, Luis Aguasviva writes a retrospective on the game’s impact, including reflections from designer Lucas Pope on its increased relevance a decade later. Grant Stoner shines a light on accessibility in the fighting game scene. Shannon Liao details the beneficial and detrimental impact of the growing influence of AI on game development. Wesley LeBlanc provides a detailed recap of the now-completed Microsoft/Activision Blizzard acquisition. And, of course, we have our annual holiday buyer’s guide as December looms ever closer.
Previews include detailed looks at Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Frostpunk 2, and Crimson Desert. Plus, you can read reviews for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Sonic Superstars, Jusant, Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and more!
You can also try to nab a Game Informer Gold version of the issue. Limited to a numbered print run per issue, this premium version of Game Informer isn’t available for sale. To learn about places where you might be able to get a copy, check out our official Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, BlueSky, and Threads accounts and stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks. Click here to read more about Game Informer Gold.
Print subscribers can expect their issues to arrive in the coming weeks. The digital edition launches later today for PC/Mac, iOS, and Google Play. Print copies will be available for purchase in the coming weeks at GameStop.

Note
thank you, that was helpful! knowing that the rpg part of ffxiv gets more emphasis and that it's relatively singleplayer-friendly is definitely a relief (the only other mmo I've really gotten into is swtor, which is basically just a bioware rpg in a shared online world if you ignore all the optional multiplayer/pvp stuff)
I do have a couple of follow-up questions, if you don't mind!
1) does having the complete vs. starter edition change anything about the start of the game? I had a bad experience previously with eso where I got a bundle with the first expansion during a sale, not realizing that would permanently lock off the option to start with the base game story and force me into starting with the expansion for some godforsaken reason, which pretty much killed dead my desire to actually get into that game lmao
2) how alt-friendly is it? I may have a bit of a problem with always coming up with ideas for new characters in rpgs
3) what's the female armor situation vis a vis boobplate and the like? know in advance that this WILL make or break my chances of playing the game
i don't mind at all, ask away!
no, there's no difference. the storyline of ff14 is well-beloved and critically acclaimed and they would like for everyone to experience it, so you have to go out of your way to miss any parts of it. there's options for people who want to, such as the story skips they sell in the online store, or manually skipping every cutscene, but it's something you would have to actively choose to do.
2. it's extremely alt friendly! most people i talk to in game have alt disease. the basic plan only allows 8 different characters per data center, but the standard plan allows 40. you are formally invited to go ham in character creation. (most people who don't have alt disease have fantasia disease, which is an item that allows you to completely remake your character if you want to. so either people have tons of alts, or they have one character that they constantly fantasia into their numerous alts. but they do all have alts)
3. the female armor situation is a little mixed. none of it is boobplate amounts of bad, to my knowledge, but there is a frequent complaint about things like 'gear that appears as pants on male characters magically turns into a skirt and thighhighs on a female character'. it's not so ubiquitous that it can't be avoided, especially with the glamour system that lets your gear take on the look of other clothing, but it is there and it's extremely annoying to encounter. that being said, this is something that has improved significantly since the earlier days, and the devs have actually commented on trying to do better. also in the past there were a lot of outfits that were genderlocked, but every patch they release updates to unlock some of them. i think there's very few genderlocked outfits remaining, actually. so i'll let you decide how you feel about that. if you're on the fence, i will also remind you that critically acclaimed mmorpg final fantasy xiv has an expanded free trial and that you can play through the entirety of a realm reborn and the award-winning heavensward expansion up to level 60 for free with no restrictions on playtime
hope this answered all of your questions, and once again feel free to let me know if there's anything else i can answer for you!

FFXIV Sale Makes Now a Great Time to Discover Everyone’s Favourite MMO
Tumblr media
It's a fantastic moment to learn why FFXIV is generally cited as one of the top MMORPGs of all time because Square Enix has just started a significant FFXIV sale. This is a fantastic opportunity to start for the first time, upgrade if you've loved the free trial, or hop back in and see Endwalker if you've taken a break thanks to the substantial discounts on both the main game and its expansions. But wait, I hear you exclaim, doesn’t the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV have a free trial that includes the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award-winning Heavensward expansion with no restrictions on playtime? Yes, as you might have heard if you’ve spent much time online, it does indeed – but there’s so much more to FFXIV than just those first two story arcs, and what better time to jump in than now? Alternatively, perhaps you’re already a free trial player and you’re looking to buy into the full thing. After all, while there are no playtime restrictions and you can level all the way up to 60, you are fairly limited in certain ways while playing on a free account. No joining a free company (FFXIV’s guild system), no directly messaging other players, no retainers for item storage, no access to the player markets to buy and sell gear – there’s certainly plenty of benefits to making the upgrade. The FFXIV Endwalker expansion is 50% off, as is its digital collector’s edition. Both of these also include the two prior expansions, Stormblood and Shadowbringers, the latter of which features some of the best story content in any RPG game period, although you’ll need a copy of the starter edition of the game to play them. If you haven’t ever bought FFXIV, then don’t worry – the Starter Edition, Complete Edition, and Complete Collector’s Edition are all 50% off as well. The FFXIV Complete Edition is the one to go for if you don’t already own the base game, and it’ll get you everything there is in the current edition of the game along with 30 days of playtime. Of course, it’s important to note that once you buy in, you will need an active subscription to play – so if you’re not 100% sold, then stick with the free trial for now. FFXIV spring sale discounts The FFXIV sale is live from March 1-15 on the Square Enix store, along with on the PlayStation store for console players. You can play on the same account across both platforms, but you’ll need to own a copy of the game and expansions on PC and on console, so perhaps if you’ve ever considered making the switch now is a good time to do so. Here are all the prices for the discounted editions in the sale: - FFXIV Starter Edition – £14.99 GBP / $19.99 USD - FFXIV Complete Edition – £17.49 GBP / $29.99 USD - FFXIV Complete Collector’s Edition – £42.49 GBP / $69.99 USD - FFXIV: Endwalker – £14.99 GBP / $19.99 USD - FFXIV: Endwalker Collector’s Edition – £22.49 GBP / $29.99 USD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTTtd6bnhFs You can find these discounts on the Square Enix store (UK and EU link/US link). Unfortunately, it looks like this sale doesn’t currently extend to the Steam version, so if you want to switch over you’ll need to buy the full thing, as expansions from the standalone launcher don’t cross over with the Steam edition of the game. The FFXIV patch 6.35 release date is right around the corner, so there’s plenty more on the way if you’re an active player. If you’re just stepping into Endwalker, don’t miss our FFXIV Island Sanctuary guide, along with our tips on how to play the FFXIV Reaper and the FFXIV Sage – the two jobs introduced in the expansion. Final Fantasy XIV Squadron Guide
Tumblr media
Final Fantasy XIV or Final Fantasy XIV Online is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG). In the infamous series of Final Fantasy games, this is overall the 14th edition and just the 2nd MMORPG game after the Final Fantasy XI. After receiving heavy criticism upon the initial release, the FFXIV game was relaunched as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The original game story was updated with new content and a different style. Although it's been a while since FFXIV was released, some players still have difficulty understanding all the game's features, especially if they are a beginner.
One such feature you should be aware of is recruiting and commanding Squadron players. However, it's more about adventure than anything else. In this article, we will be talking about the Adventurer Squadron. In our Final Fantasy XIV Squadron Guide, we will tell what exactly the Squadrons are and how you can unlock them. Unlocking Squadrons is one thing, and commanding them in battle is another. So, if you are a beginner, scroll down and read the complete article to learn more about the Squadron, which might prove to be your greatest allies in Final Fantasy XIV.
What are the Squadrons?
Players are allowed to command soldiers in their individual Grand Companies through Adventurer Squadrons. Players can send a squadron of soldiers on specialized missions after gathering a sufficient number of NPC recruits, collecting hefty prizes upon their return. They are considered one of the most resourceful options available in the game. They are extremely useful when you are a beginner or want to go solo. Due to its location behind Grand Companies, many new players are unaware of this game aspect. If you pay attention to squadrons, they can be a valuable source of useful consumables. If the Duty Finder intimidates or frustrates you, you can even employ squadrons to upgrade your combat tasks.
Tumblr media
Unlocking the Squadrons
You'll have to rank as Second Lieutenant or a higher position in the Grand Company to unlock the Squadrons. The top rank in your Grand Company's highest "tier" is a rather high rank. New players likely won't be able to access the game until they have collected the requisite Company Seals and finished the relevant objectives.
It's important to note that to complete this quest, you must first have the Challenge Log enabled. You can accomplish this by finishing the Level 15 quest "Rising to the Challenge." You must use the Challenge Log as soon as they get access to it.
After unlocking the squadrons, you will witness some new parts available to you in the headquarters of your Grand Company. The option marked "Entrance to the Barracks" will now be available on one of the entrances. Accessing it sends you to the Grand Company Barracks, where you can oversee the personnel, recruits, instruction, and missions of your Squadron. You can simply enhance your outfits or the outfit of your team members with the help of the Glamour Dresser and Armoire in this area. Squadron members are subject to the standard glamour requirements. Therefore the clothes they wear must be of the right Level and class. To employ glamours, your recruit must be at least level 51. Also, keep in mind that the Squadron members can only advance to level 60 and are restricted to the base classes.
Steps – in Short
Find and decide which Grand Company you'll take. Reach level 15 in Main Story quests to choose your Grand Company. You can change it every 2 weeks or continue it as long as you want.
Achieve the rank of second lieutenant or higher in your Grand Company. To do this complete the Company's Hunting Log and other quests. After you get the title, you will, depending on your Grand Company, get different quests, each with a certain level requirement. Let's discuss them in detail.
If your Grand Company is 'Order of the Twin Adder,' You will get Twin Adder Squadron and Commander Missions. The quest is available at New Girdania with the Serpent Personnel Officer. The Level that you have to be at is Level 47 of the Disciples War or Magic.
Although, if you decide to have 'Maelstorm' as your grand Company, you will get Malstorm Squadron and Commander Missions. The quest is available with the Storm Personnel Officer at Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks. The Level that you have to be at is Level 47 of the Disciples War or Magic.
You can also choose 'Immortal Flames' as your Grand Company. In this case, you will have Immortal Flame Squadron and Commander Missions as the quests. The quest is available at Ul'dah – Steps of Nald with the Flame Personnel Officer. The Level that you have to be at is Level 47 of the Disciples War or Magic.
Once you have completed the quest associated with your Grand Company, you will progress to the Company Barracks.
Adding members to the Squad
To form a Squadron, you need to have at least three to four members in your Squadron. To unlock the squadron members, you must complete the Challenge Log quests. After you complete a mission in the challenge log, you unlock squadron members. This unlocking is just random, and gradually be able to get your hands on the Squadron Enlistment Manual. You will get it when you reach the Level of First Lieutenant. Obtaining the Squadron Enlistment Manual will increase your chances of recruiting squadron members.
Tumblr media
You will get all enlistment paperwork at your desk in the squadron barracks. Select Question when looking at a prospective recruit's enlistment papers to call them to the barracks and read their profile. You can then ask them to join your Squadron if you find them satisfactory. There is space for eight recruits in the barracks. To enlist recruits after reaching this cap, you must first discharge one of the Squadron's current members. A potential recruit's enlistment may also be delayed or terminated after you have reviewed their paperwork. Please be aware that if you delay enrollment, you will not be able to review the following application until you decide whether to accept or reject the current applicant.
Training and Missions to Level up the Squadron Unit
Leveling up the Squadron is important; you should know how to do it. You have three ways to do it, but to use all three ways, you should be at least at Level 2. Until you are not, there are two ways through which you can Level up the Squadron. One of the ways is through Training Missions. You can find these at the Regime Board.
You have assembled a group of soldiers, but what now? Now you have to train them, and the first step would be to train in the introductory City Patrol Mission. After you have completed this introductory training mission, you can find a new one on the Regime board. Each training session lasts one hour. All barrack recruiters will earn experience points once a training program is finished, and the Squadron's general attributes will improve. Up to three training sessions can be completed by recruits each day. At 1:00 PM (PDT), training sessions are restarted daily.
Another way to help Level up your Squadron is through the Squadron Missions available at the Sergeant. The Squad is comprised of just four people for this task. It'll only last for 18 hours. This squadron mission will lock once you finish it, and it won't reopen until the next week's reset. The required attributes option is included in this mission. You must choose squad members to fill the gaps left by their present attributes. This choice's primary goal is to match it with the necessary attributes. You will receive a green signal if they are a match. If not, a red alert will appear. The squad members assigned to the squadron mission cannot be used for the command mission or the command training; it is vital to note.
Finally, the third option will be available to level 2 rank players. In this, you will encounter AI-controlled dungeons that you and your Squadron will have to take over.
Tumblr media
Squadrons on Missions
Speak with the squadron sergeant to send your Squadron on a mission once they are well-prepared. Be aware that sending out your Squadron will cost you company seals, with fees rising as mission difficulty does. Since we are on the topic of leveling up and sending the troop on various missions, it is important to note that it requires initial funding. Beginner's might find it difficult, and therefore we are here with a solution. To get your hands on these resources, you can use the FFXIV Gil that you can get from our website.

Talking about the missions here, every mission has a level requirement that your squadron members must meet. The good news is that there is no fixed composition in which you need to send your Squadron. So hold off until your Squadron arrives. Missions must be finished in 18 hours (Earth time). By launching the Timers interface, which is under Duty in the main menu, you may see how much time is left on a task. Only one Priority task can be performed each week successfully. Timers will be reset at 1:00 AM (PDT) every week.
When your squadrons return, assess their mission and look at their performance to make sure what you need to work on.
This will be all from us for now. Stay Tuned with us for more updates.

I Might Be a Bit of a Crackhead for Finishing All of Final Fantasy XIV in Just About a Month
Tumblr media
DISCLOSURE: This contains no story spoilers for any part of Final Fantasy XIV.
December 7th, 2021. That was the day that all hell broke loose. Constant crashes, login wait times, server maintenance, even the delisting of the game. This, my friends, is where our tale starts, and where my journey began. The launch of Endwalker, the fourth expansion of Final Fantasy XIV Online.
Now, for a while before this day, I had heard countless things from friends regarding Final Fantasy XIV, Free Trial™ Copypasta and all. At that point I had never even given thought to trying an MMORPG, well, besides Elsword, but that was almost 10 years ago and I wanted to try to get the Sword Art Online crossover items.
But of course, time had passed since then, and not only had my taste in anime drastically increased, but I had matured. I was an owner of a PlayStation 4 Pro, a fan of Final Fantasy, and had numerous people screaming in my ear about XIV, so one day in my first semester during finals week, I finally started Final Fantasy XIV.
Heh, see what I did there?
Tumblr media
At first, I started myself with the free trial, obviously. I created my character, chose Lamia on the Primal Data Center (I would have chosen Ultros but it was full at the time), and started my adventure! I played about two hours of the free trial, stumbling through the forest in Gridania, but I was able to level up quite a bit and make it through a nice portion of the main quests. Though, at the time I was going to leave for work soon, so I logged out and got ready for work.
I then realized after I got ready that I had a bit more time left before I had to leave, so I tried to log back in to the game, only to be booted out to the login screen every time I tried. Turns out, all the things that I had read online about the queues and the wait times? Yeah, I wasn’t gonna experience any of that on the free trial. Because Square Enix put priority on the people that paid for the game, which you obviously should, that meant there would be no queues for the free players whatsoever. And thus, I went to work, sad that I could not continue just for a little bit.
While I was at work, though, I opened the PlayStation app and went to the store. I saw that the complete edition for Final Fantasy XIV was put back up for sale, and it included Endwalker now. I went back and forth in my head about it, but ultimately I took the plunge and purchased that full edition right then and there. Yes, I had purchased Final Fantasy XIV with only two hours of playtime on the multi-hundred-hour long free trial that lets you play all of A Realm Reborn and the first expansion, Heavensward. I am very educated.
And so, my adventure really began. Turns out that I had bought it at just the right time as well, because two weeks later the game was pulled from digital stores, and the free trial was shut down in order for the team to focus on fixing the servers.
With two months of winter break ahead of me, I spent just about every day playing the game, leveling up, and getting through all the story quests. For some expansions, it only took me three or four days, others took me about a week. There were a few days that I had to take a break due to a bit of a mental breakdown while trying to learn another class, but after “recovering” I switched back to my main class at the time and continued going at it.
I was practically hit by a truck with every big emotional moment in the game, but I pressed on. The days flew by and then, after 37 days and 348 hours of playing, I had finished the most recent expansion, Endwalker. I was filled with joy and hope, as I had caught up with everyone I had known at the time. My goal for the entire winter break had been reached. I did it.
Though... to say that I felt like I aged ten years after finishing it all would be an understatement. I still look back at old screenshots of when I still played on my PS4, back in the early days. Since then I have switched to my PS5, then to my Mac, but it’s still very surreal seeing that the beginning of my journey wasn’t all that long ago.
In the days and months after finishing all of the main story, I have met many friends in the Primal Data Center. Not just them, but this whole game- this whole experience has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I am so grateful for all the friends I made through this, how they’ve helped me in more ways than one. I’ve come out of my shell and met so many great people through the game, and learned many, many great lessons through it all.
So... maybe I’m not such a crackhead after all!
Tumblr media
Thanks again for reading. It’s always fun to think back on how I started this game, and how much it means to me.
Next up: I Really Like Taylor Swift. Like, A Lot.

How 2 RP
EDIT: I have edited the post a bit, since i looked it over and got some feedback from RPers. And i can now see that the original post was a bit unfriendly towards a certain group. That was not my intention to come over at all and i apologize if i offended some people that way. Here is hoping that the updated part is more neutral and appealing to those who want to start RP.
Introduction:
Hello everyone! My name is Masao, and i wanted to write a bit of a tutorial on how to RP. This will be in several chapters, and going over several things on how to make a character, certain terms, lore, handy links and more. If there is enough interest in this, and of course if it helps enough people, i will type and release more! If you feel like this helped you out somehow, or think that it can help others, please consider spreading the word, and getting this to someone who wants to set a first step into the RP world of Final Fantasy XIV.
Chapter 1: Where do i start?
Welcome to the guide on how to RP. You are probably wondering right now: Where do i even begin? Well, with this guide, we hope to get you started a bit.
So when it comes to RP, you roleplay a whole another character. Some people might be furrowing their brow now. As in, how do i even do that? Well, what i mostly do when it comes to mine, is:
I take inspiration from other games/movies/series.
Like for example...
Tumblr media
Take Masao here. A Xeala who has been Reincarnated into a Dotharl. A grumpy man who has a hidden kindness to him. He does not know Eorzean well, but his favorite Eorzean word so far is ‘‘Fuck.’‘ Sounds familiar? Because its based off Geralt of Rivera! You don't have to copy a total character of course. You could take bits and pieces to mold your very own. When it comes to playing someone, there is only one super important rule. And that is:
Play what you enjoy, not what others enjoy.
When it comes to RP, there are people who may play differently from how you RP. This has to do with Lore.If you wish to know more about lore, i would suggest looking at this link. And people always look different to it. Some people might want to abide by lore without any bending it. Some might enjoy the lore bending by a bit and some might even not abide to the lore at all. Whatever you choose, is totally up to you, as long if you can respect the aspect of what ones chooses. When it comes to roleplaying in groups, its mostly give and take. But when you work together, and mold it into something, it can be super fun and rewarding! You could get character development, or even friendships! But stick true to your own believes, and RP with the people that find your charachter enjoyable. Because after all...
Its your character.
Now, when it comes to in game RP, there might be some terms that confuse you, or how to do certain things. Let me help with that! Lets go over the most important things:
IC: This stands for In Character. This means that whatever happens IC, stays IC. So if someone calls you a asshole IC, that does not mean they think that you as a person are one. Your own actions are the same, they are all bound to your character, not meaning you as a person would do that. What brings us to our next term..
OOC: This means what we are now! How i am typing and talking to you. It stands for Out of Character. When it comes to this, there is one rule that you must always abide to, no matter what. Keep IC and OOC separate! This is important! It's mostly important because a lot of people tend to mix them up. What you should NEVER do. What happens IC, stays IC, what happens OOC, stays OOC.
MRP/ERP: A lot of people have this in their search info. So let me go over some of the terms. MRP stands for Mature RP. This means that the themes that they RP, are meant for mature audiences. Think of like blood, murder. Like a mature movie or game. That is what you can expect from that. ERP...Well, you probably mostly already know. But let me go over it briefly. It stands for Erotic Roleplay, and contains well..That. There might be some people who are only focused on this when it comes to RP, if that stuff makes you uncomfortable, don't do it. You really don't have to ERP to get the best RP experience or whatever. Do this only with people you trust, or with your SO. Or don’t at all! Its totally up to you.
ParaRP: This refers to people who write in Paragraphs. There is also Semi-Para. Or Multi-Para. Some people who RP write long walls of text, or write very little. Everyone has their own style of writing. Do what fits you the best! Here are some examples.
Semi Para:
Masao walked through Gridania as the sun shined on his black scales. He squinted towards the sky and let out a little huff. Seems like today was going to be a warm day, but a good one for a adventure or two.
Para:
A sudden memory flashed before his eyes. A lonely house stood in a filed. It seemed abandoned by all local life. Masao entered the little shed and looked around. No one, as expected. He thought to himself. But in the blink of a eye, the shed caught aflame. He was surrounded by fire. Voices were heard around him. ‘‘You deserved to die.’‘ A voice rang out. ‘‘We should have never taken you in.’‘ Another one called. And as it all played out, Masao was suddenly back to his senses. Was it something from his past life? Or was it something that was yet to come?
Those are most of the things you need to know! Now lets go over some extra in game things that you might would like to know:
If you wish to make a custom emote in FFXIV, you start a post with /em. So for example: /em looked towards the Miqo’te and gave a little nod.
When your character talks, this is mostly done with ‘’. A example: ‘’Yes, i think a drink would be fine.’’ There are some races who talk in another language. This is mostly done with <’’> Or with [’’] So it would look like this: <’’I don't know if this Eorzean can understand me.’’>
A lot of people in FFXIV have a certain RP tag above their head. If you wish to turn this on, press the O button on your keyboard (Or whatever button you have bound to the Social tab. It will look like this: If you are in that tab, you also see a little text bubble next to your name (You only see this if you wrote something down.) You can put a little description about yourself!  To change this, simply right click on your own name, and select: Edit Search Info. Now, you will see some new options. A Search comment down, where you can edit your little description of yourself, and a dropdown menu that says Online, Busy, Away from keyboard and such. And down there, is the option Role Play! And there you have it! Now you have the RP tag next to your name. You also may be seeing a lot of people walk around. You can do that by pressing the / button. That was my chapter one of How 2 RP. I hope it helps you, and if you have any questions or need some more tips, let me know! You can either send me a question here, or you can add me on discord: Masao#2913 and i can help you there too. And just remember: RP might be a bit scary at first, but the community in here is so amazing and helpful, i am sure they would accept a new RPer with open arms. My tip would be to if you start with RP, try with One-on-one RP first, with your friends, your FC members, maybe even your lover. So you can get a feel for it, and so you can find out if you really like how your character is. Maybe you want to change something a bit, or maybe you even want to change them completely. Go what feels right, and what makes you happy. Thanks for reading, and i hope that you have a nice day!
