One month on; The future of Monkey wrench as a fully animated indie series.

It’s been exactly one month since Ep 3 of Monkey was released to the public, and as the ever want to be as transparent as possible with indie production it’s time we sat down and had a very important discussion on the future of the series…

So, as we said above, one month has passed from the public release of episode 3, and everything hinges on how well it does.

Below are the metrics for it on Youtube;

Our hope was to have ep 3 hit 500k in two weeks. After 31 days we’re still under 470k views, ad rev as you can see is pitiful and engagement has evaporated. Maybe we set our hopes a little too high?

It’s not all doom and gloom though, this is the first ep to get this many views in this amount of time. Our patreon support has grown by 1/3 after the ep came out and our Scratch & Scritch plushies did ok, see images below;

So as of now, we have enough money for voices, sound and music for episode 4. Voice recording begins next week and I hope to start the animatic for the ep sometime after.

As for the animation portion of production… things are looking a little tricky.

As you should know, animation, especially frame by frame stuff like we do, it’s obscenely time intensive and expensive. For ep 3 we had a rough animation rate of $20.83 per 1 second of animation and the same for clean up with very minimal edits and redos.

Seeing the recent animation pay discourse has honestly shaken us up pretty bad, we had no idea how pitiful our pay had been compared to other indies and we in no way want to exploit anyone for their work on the series.

With both Ash and I putting everything we had saved in Eps 1, 2 and 3 and seeing how below average they’ve all performed and with how little we can afford to pay our animators, on top of burning myself out horrifically doing 3 eps in a row, we’ve sadly had to come to the conclusion that full animation for this series is no longer financially possible at our current support level.

That does not mean we’re stopping production, however.

There are two possible routes we can take;

Route 1; Animatic hybrid.

Over the past week and a half I managed to solo out 5 minutes and 15 seconds of animatic keyframe animation for our recently released outtakes video.

At our current support level I can do the animatic keyframe route for most of the mundane stuff in an ep, and then go into full animation for the ‘good bits’, that way we can pay our animators an actual decent wage. Over time if our support grows we can return to full animation.

Route 2: Kickstart ep 4 for $100k

We have thought about doing a kickstarter type thing to get the $100,000 we’d need for the animation portion of the ep. We want to pay our animators properly for their time and skill and this would be the best route to go if we want to have ep 4 fully animated.

However with our current viewership and engagement with eps 1, 2 and 3 I’m not sure we could hit a goal of $100,000 in the 30 days we need.

Is it a risk worth taking?

What would we do for rewards?

Physical rewards would take money away from animation production and things like animated rewards would take time away from myself working on the ep.

That’s pretty much where my mind has been at the past few days. I’d love to hear your input and thoughts on how you would like us to proceed.

A more in-depth guide for creating visual novels, especially in the horror, horror-romance, etc circles

Some of you have seen my previous, smaller post on crafting visual novels, especially in this little space of Tumblr that a lot of us have found themselves in. Since that post took off, I've wanted to create a longer guide to help touch on some points I've thought about for the past few months.

In case you've never heard of me, I'm Kat, also known as catsket. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Game Design. I've been making games for nearly 5 years, and I've been doing visual novels more "professionally" for 2. You may know me for Art Without Blood, 10:16, God is in the Radio, or Fatal Focus. I'm here to help you make your first visual novel.

Please note that my advice does not fit everyone, and you may disagree with what I say. That's okay! It doesn't work for all. That's why there's thousands of resources out there.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE NEVER MADE A GAME

So, you have an idea for a huge visual novel. Horror, a shady and obsessive love interest, a little bit of woo-hooing. 100k words. Maybe a million. What is this, the 07th Expansion?

I notice a lot of people getting into visual novels are artists first. That's okay! I wanted to do art for games before I realized how much I enjoyed writing. And even less of you have probably touched Visual Studio. Again, perfectly okay. We all start somewhere.

My number one piece of advice? Make shitty games.

What does that mean?! My recommendation to those who have never done games is to make a bunch of shitty ones. Think of a theme, or hell, even join a game jam, where you make a game that fits a theme in a short amount of time. Spend about a week on your game. Focus on making something polished. Polish your mechanics. Polish your output.

I recommend, if you can, to make at least 4-6, if not more, kind of shitty games before hopping into longer projects. Making a game is a skill, just like art, just like writing. And game development is combining ALL of these together into one big soup being stirred by a skeleton hand puppet. You'll get into the rhythm and see what works for you.

It also helps you learn, perhaps, the second most important thing here: do you even like making games? There are cases out there where people have created video games (not saying visual novels) just for clout. That's no fun for you, that's no fun for your players. And you might go through this process and find that you don't like making games. That's completely okay! It's not for everyone.

Also, you can use these shittier games to gather an audience. I've built my audience because, for the past few years, I've been releasing games that slowly give me growing fields of eyes every day. A success story overnight is a rare one. It takes time. It's like building a brand, but you aren't a brand, you're an artist.

REV UP YOUR ENGINES!

Ren'py is the number one engine you will be recommended. It is very beginner-friendly, with lots of tutorials, assets on itch.io to use and download, and support. The engine comes with a few tutorials in the form of games, whose code you can freely browse. This is the engine I use most often. Most visual novels you see are made in this engine.

Twine is a text-based engine that most people use for interactive fiction. You can add images and audio, though, if you don't mind messing with HTML. I use Twine for text games and for outlining for my larger games. Ever played Degrees of Lewdity? Yeah, I know you have. Don't ask why. That game was made in Twine.

RPG Maker has multiple versions and has been used for exclusively VNs if you don't mind fucking around with plugins. It can definitely give your game a super unique feel. I recommend RPG Maker MV, since it has the most resources. This line of engines usually costs money, but it often goes on sale for under $5-$15.

People will recommend TyranoBuilder, but as a user and player, the lack of options and the format the games often come in is just...not fun to navigate. It advertises itself as little to no code, but it's often evident in the final results. Some good games have been made in it, though, so if you want to use it for prototyping/practice, you can. I'm not a fan, but that doesn't mean that fans don't exist! This engine costs money.

Not an engine, but check out Ink! Super useful scripting language that's used for more professional projects.

DEMOS, DEMOS, DEMOS

You've got an idea for a long-term project, and now you want to show it to the world! But wait, wait, don't do that yet!

When should I start advertising my game? This is a personal opinion, but I say that you should not start advertising your game until 50-60% of your demo is complete. Why? As I've discussed with some fans of indie VNs, they can name quite a few projects that have been in the "working on the demo" age for 1-2+ years. I've been in the Kickstarter MMO circles. If you, making a single-player experience with little mechanics to balance and polish (aka a visual novel), are taking that long on a demo, I am going to assume the game is not coming out. There are some games I have seen out here that have been in "working on the demo" phase where I haven't seen a single ounce of what the project will look like.

What should I put in my demo? The purpose of a demo is to showcase the mechanics and the vibes and the mechanics of your game. It's a demonstration. In my last post, I pointed to the Dead Space 2 demo that was showcased at E3 (RIP), that takes place about 2 hours into the story and shows how enemies are defeated, some animations, bits of the story, etc. Usually, because it's less about mechanics and more about vibes, visual novel demos showcase a certain percentage of the full thing (5-10%.) Can you showcase the vibe of the game here and what players should expect? If not, show off another portion.

How long should I work on my demo? Before, I said 3-4 months. That can be true, that can also not be true. Think about how long the demo takes you in proportion to how long the actual game should take you. Don't put too much effort. The demo is to showcase the vibe. It's to see how much the public and fans may enjoy the game.

My game is 18+, what should I do? Make a splash screen when the game is downloaded to let players know your game is 18+. If it's going to contain sexual content, you can hide it with itch.io's adult content filter. Write it on the page itself that your game is for adults only. Don't put your demo behind a paywall. This is genuinely ridiculous. The purpose of a demo is to showcase what a game is like before a player purchases it. That defeats the point of a demo. I've seen this happen, and it discourages players from approaching, especially because most demos never make it past the demo phase. So...I'm paying you $10 for 2-3k words of a game that may never come out?

Should I make a social media for my game? YES! Go for it. These anchors are how people will find your game. Make a Tumblr and open that ask box. Make a Twitter. Go to BluSky. Advertising is not bad. Some YouTubers even take e-mail suggestions from developers. Feel free to shoot your shot. The worst they can do is not respond.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR ITCH.IO PAGE:

Getting your itch.io to a presentable state can be very challenging! There's many ways to do it. I highly recommend using this page image guide for learning how to size your images to make your page pop!

Itch.io themselves has suggested to not publish a page until the game or demo is released. You can make the page and keep it as a draft, but do not publish it until you're ready!

Your cover image is the image that will appear in the search of the website, on any front pages, in collections, and on your profile. What have I seen that works? Key art of one of the characters up close and the title of the game! If you can make it a .GIF, do it! Bitches love .GIFs!

Itch.io recommends 3-5 screenshots on your page. I recommend 1 of these 5 be a .GIF that shows how gameplay feels. This is effective, even for visual novels!

Write a 3-5 sentence summary about your game for the description. What is your story about? What is the draw?

DO NOT BE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO IS GOING TO SAY "This is not like other visual novels. It doesn't have that cheesy this or that or-" No one cares. Genuinely. You're putting down other games in your genre and elevating yourself to the pompous level.

TAG YOUR GAME! itch.io gives you a list of tags to choose from when you go to tag. DON'T USE THIS! Try to go for more specific tags. Arimia has a very good guide on how to use itch.io's tagging system to your advantage.

GENERAL GAME MAKING ADVICE

SCOPE KNIFE IS SUPER USEFUL! Everyone makes games that are way over their workload. It's okay to cut out features and add them later. Prioritize making a finished game before hitting those stretch goals.

PLAN, PLAN, PLAN! Writing outlines is super helpful. I use Twine for my outlines, because you can connect your passages together and make really well-thought webs.

IT'S OKAY TO ASK FOR HELP! Whether it's from friends, professionals, or anything in-between. They can help with assets, editing, etc.

HONE YOUR SKILLS OUTSIDE OF GAMES! Write some poetry. Do some sketches everyday. Improve on your craft to improve your games

MUSIC IS HARD. THERE ARE RESOURCES. Most of us aren't musicians. That's okay. Make sure the music you get for your game is allowed to be used. You can use anything non-commercial if your game will not cost money or donations. I try to do songs in the public domain or free to use overall with credit if I don't have a musician. Consult the Creative Commons website if you're unsure how you're supposed to use a certain piece of music. If you don't use the right stuff, not only can it put you in legal trouble, but it can put streamers in hot water if they play your game and they can't upload the video because music is copyrighted.

PLEASE, DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR UI. Wanna know an easy way to get your game to look more professional? Edit the damn UI for your game. Make a new textbox, even if it's just a black box. Change the font. Eventually, players recognize the defaults and patterns of games made in certain engines and may attribute a lack of UI changes to a developer being lazy. It doesn't take very long to change the colors around and move text! Please do it to add a little pop to your game.

DEADLINES ARE AWESOME. Not everyone works well under pressure, but if you give yourself an infinite amount of time to make something, it'll never get done. Set goals for yourself for how much you can work on something.

IF YOU HAVE TO GIVE UP, GIVE UP. Making things is hard, especially long-term. Emergencies happen, jobs happen, life happens. Let your fans know that a project isn't happening anymore. Don't leave them in the dark. You don't need to tell strangers your medical history or anything, but transparency + honesty are really hot traits. You should use those in your creative work. This is one reason why I advocate for not publishing or advertising things until you know it's stable.

People love to see WIPs for games! This is what the devlog is good for! A devlog is a post where a developer talks about and showcases some things happening in the game? What can you add to your dev log?

PERCENTAGES! How much of the artwork is done? How much of this character's route is done?

SNEAK PEEKS AT ARTWORK AND SPRITES!

GIFS! GIRLS LOVE GIFS!

Anything else to showcase your game's content! Posting consistent updates retains and even gains a fan's attention for your work.

RUNNING YOUR TUMBLR

You've joined us, and you've made a Tumblr for your blog! Link it on the itch.io page, so people can come find you after playing your awesome demo!

Do I have to respond to every ask? No. It's your blog. Delete whatever asks you want.

I got a hate comment! What do I do? Delete it and move on. I have a more detailed section on hate below.

I want to interact with [blog]! How do I do that? Reach out to the devs for silly little collabs. If you come onto a developer slightly headstrong, they might feel you are being abrasive or using them for content.

If people make fan content, interact with it! Encourage it! Reblog it. Show your love.

OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS

PROFESSIONALISM IS KEY. These may be pet projects, but you want to appear some level of professional on your actual itch.io page.

Being dismissive of player and fan complaints or criticisms will make you appear childish.

If your game is broken, fix it. I have been told by some amateur developers to ignore game-breaking bugs. It does not make me, a player, want to engage with your content. It seems messy and unfinished.

With the above point, it's 100% okay to have bugs and errors upon release. Every developer and their brood mother has. To decrease these issues, get playtesters. Friends can play your games, spot any errors, and help you point out things that can be improved upon. I recommend having playtesters at every stage of development.

Make sure your game runs before you publish it. Please.

You can still be silly and giddy! There's no reason to not be, especially when you get positive comments! The point of this is to not be outright rude to potential players and fans.

IGNORE HATE COMMENTS. In this case, a hate comment is a statement that contains no constructive criticism and are only here to be insulting or malicious. People are going to leave you with actual piles of dog shit in your ask box. They are trying to provoke you. Giving hate comments any attention, even if you're there to "clap back" proves that they got to you, even if you don't take the hate to heart. They will continue to pester you. THINK BEFORE YOU REFERENCE! I know one big thing in this community is adding references to other games in yours, such as plushies of other characters or putting them on posters. The best thing you can do it ask the developer before adding this. How would you feel if some random person you've never met put your character in a video game? Most of us would feel weird and potentially violated. Open communication with devs is awesome. I am usually okay with it as long as someone asks for permission.

As a complete aside, I prefer more tasteful references to other games as opposed to 523482346 plushies and posters. These have been slightly overdone. Why not theme a candy after another game's character? Maybe your characters know each other.

Tommy starts to spit up water, jumping up and away from the stream of water. Instead of tackling Joel like you anticipate, he just shakingly wipes his hair out of his eyes. 

“You two are sick. Fuckin’ sick. And everyone will know about this.”

It makes your heart sink to your stomach. You don’t really care if anyone knows anymore. You knew this was going to be the worst part, but its the way he makes it sound like a threat. 

“I bet they will, I just don’t give a damn.”

Joel sprays him while he stands up, making Tommy groan and yell out in annoyance. Joel just smiles, sickly. 

Tommy storms off to his truck, dripping wet from the shower Joel just gave him on his front lawn. Joel tosses the hose back into the garden, satisfied with his work. You two stand there, watching Tommy do a burn out and speed off down the road. You breathe out loud, your hands finding your face. Joel glances between his neighbour’s houses, ensuring there is no one outside watching the events unfold. He did not care if they did watch, but he knew you would probably care. 

He grabs ahold of your shoulders, guiding you back inside the house. Your eyes instantly fall on all the shattered glass and flowers as you walk inside. Joel ignores it and brings you into the kitchen. 

Your mind is racing. You knew every word you said to Tommy was right deep down. But the girl you were, she wouldn’t have instigated his rage. She would’ve sat there and took every word he said to heart and believed them. 

But the girl you are now, that girl is completely ruthless. You are petty. You are harsh. You are angry. 

You kind of scared yourself. 

“Joel-”

“No baby,” he mutters, “You better not say what I think you’re gonna say.”

“Joel, we can’t d-”

“We can. Because fuck Tommy. Fuck everyone,” He grabs your hips, letting his hands settle softly on your curves, “I want you. I want you so bad. I am not lettin’ you get away. Tommy can tell everyone in the fuckin’ world about us, and I won’t fuckin’ care. What he says doesn’t reflect you. You did nothin’ wrong. Okay?”

You swallow. You know he’s right, but you’re so scared of all this fallout. You don’t want it to scare you away from Joel, but it’s nervewracking to wait around and anticipate all of the chaos that will follow this incident. You did not want to tear apart a family. It’s the same feeling you had the morning after you first slept with Joel.

You’re scared to have him because of what it means for him. It means weird holidays and weird stares at grocery stores. It means you will be known as his brother’s ex girlfriend never just his girl. 

You don’t realize it, but you’re staring past Joel. He tilts your head towards him, making your eyes connect. 

“I love you, okay?”

His words make your heart flutter with relief. Maybe that’s what you needed. You needed him to finally say those words. Because those words were hanging in the back of your mind, simmering, waiting to be said.

It was a calm morning, he had taken Chiffon for a walk to enjoy nature and take a breath of fresh air,  when it happened, the little hound ran through the place quickly,  before swiftly running away from its owner, making Red Velvet worry and start chasing him. The hound was agile, just like how he trained them which didnt make things easier, especially as he promptly ended in a maze bigger than he was.

It’d take him a while to catch his breath, but meanwhile he did that, he’d walk through the maze. 

At first he was mesmerized, completely enamored with the sights he was seeing, but as he grew the more worried for his hound he’d chose the next totally logical option.

Thats right baby, hulk time!

Im jesting, but he would indeed use his weapon to ease his way through the maze, cutting his way through until he’d arrive at his destination.

Still, it dosent save him from a few cuts here and there in his dough, which prompts a mysterious voice to call him.

“Excuse me, are you ok?”

As he looked up after cleaning the leaves out of his body, he’d gaze into your eyes, a sight to behold, capturing him and taking him by surprise, not focusing on the garden nor the cabin, but you.

“Y-Yes…” He’d say, shyly out of the sudden “Just, been looking for my hound… Chiffon”

“Oh, you mean this little guy?”

It was love at first sight, looking at you like you were some kind of angel coming from the skies.

He’d then gaze at Chiffon, who was in your arms, eating one of the snacks you had made. 

Dosent even focus on the garden anymore, instead focusing on you for long moments, but not letting it be noticeable (you still notice)

Dropping into the portals was a dumb idea. Actually, no, opening the portals in the first place was the dumb idea. But when you were staring into the eyes of two Avengers, there was nothing else that came to mind.

You tilt backwards, letting yourself fall into the open portal beside you. Time felt like it froze as you fell. You see the very top of the forest trees and fading blue of the sky before the first portal closes. The scene changed into a dark, barren land, tall structures of rock and stone set the background, only accented by a dark, gray sky. A creature like the one you fought moments ago spots you and bares its sharp teeth at you

But as quickly as it saw you, you were already falling into the second portal. 

The wind is knocked out of your lungs as your back makes an impact against something big and metal, a loud clang sounds off in the dirty alleyway as you fell against a dumpster. The portal in front of you closed with a bright flash the moment you were through. 

You cough and gasp for air, an intense cold settling into your bones despite the beads of sweat that rolled down your face and back. A sick feeling settled uncomfortably in the pit of your stomach, your hands were shaking intensely, and your body ached. For a few minutes, you could not move your body at all, the strain from the fight and the portal jumping leaving you completely and utterly exhausted. 

Stray beams of fading sunlight covered you in an orange glow, lighting up the rest of the alleyway you laid in. Mixed hues of blue, pink and orange dance between white clouds with purple-ish underbellies. The sounds of New York City were loud in your ears, cars zooming past the streets and honking incessantly, engines revving and screeching tires bouncing inside your skull. You lay your head against the filthy dumpster, closing your eyes in search of respite.

To your left, dark, wispy figures floated around within the darkness of the alley. The small figures lacked any particular shape or depth, their forms contorting differently every other second as they fluidly swam between the shadowed walls and ground. You had not noticed how they slowly began to merge, gathering at the very edge of the shadow to loom over you like a tower.

You clenched your jaw as you stared at them, forcing your body to move away from the alleyway’s shadow and remain in the fading sunlight. They stand tall in their intimidation attempt as you move away from them. They remain still, waiting. They wanted to leave, to travel away from the alleyway. 

A shudder rips through you as you continue to stare. You don’t want a Shadow hitching a ride with you, not now, not today. You rose on shaky legs, taking care to make sure your own shadow would not converge with the alleyway’s. 

Your hand raises to tip your hat forwards so as to hide your face, but your fingers grasped on to nothing. It was not there. You left your damn hat in the forest. 

‘Fuuuck.’ Frustration rises within you, exacerbated by your injury and exhaustion. At least the pain in your shoulder had dulled enough not to bother you too much. Instead, you duck your head, staring down at the ground as you leave the alleyway. Sparing one last glance at the tower of Shadows, you watch as they crash down backwards like a tidal wave, returning to their shifting dance. 

Making a right, you walk alongside the rushing cars and taxis of the city in an attempt to walk home. You took off the shitty FBI jacket you got from a joke and costume shop, taking care not to jostle your shoulder too much. Turning the jacket inside out, you brush off leaves and dirt before putting it back on. The small notebook you carried stuck out slightly from the inside pocket of the jacket. A gentle breeze blew past you, making you shiver more than you already were.

You were still testing this newfound portal jumping ability, but the limitations of it were incredibly taxing, not to mention dangerous. Having used it only a handful of times, it first manifested during a boring graveyard shift, where you were desperately wishing you could go home. 

A white flash at your side startled you, the barren lands of what you assume is a different dimension revealed itself. Further within, a second portal stood, revealing your dinky apartment. A few Shadows began spilling into the gas station you worked at, scurrying to find dark corners to hide in. Some of them did not find them in time, evaporating under the fluorescent lights of your workplace.

Within a minute though, both portals shut in the blink of an eye, and weakness had spread throughout your body, sending you to your knees with a sick feeling making its way through your entire body. 

Another time, you opened a singular portal and stepped into the other dimension. It was cold, black and gray rock formations were visible in the distance. Scattered throughout the landscape in front of you were smooth, glass-like stones, along with small, deep green grass patches. The sky was a gray-ish color, but not as dark as you had seen it before. It was empty, too, no Shadows nor Runners were in sight. You attempted opening a second portal in there, to no avail. The original portal also began to waver, and the weak and sick feeling began to haunt your body. You jumped out of the darkened dimension before you could lose your grip on the portal and potentially be sealed away in there forever.

A dark silhouette zoomed past you in the corner of your eye, snapping you out of your thoughts. It began slowing down its speed along with the rest of the cars as they stopped for the red light. As the silhouette stilled atop a yellow taxicab, you were able to take in its form. This particular figure had a human-esque appearance, lacking any particular defining features like a nose, lips, or hair, but its white eyes remained wide and attentive. Its iridescent skin appeared to be alive as it clashed and shifted around its figure like waves of the ocean. 

The creature, or a Runner as you had dubbed them when you were 10, stared down at a blue car that stopped at the red light, waiting. You look closer at the same car and make out the shape of a small child, staring out the window at the creature. When the traffic light finally switched to green and the blue car started riding away, the creature continued to run after it, jumping between the car roofs and streetlights in its path.

A soft sigh escapes you and for a moment, you were taken back to the fight that had happened not even fifteen minutes ago. 

That particular Runner was larger than any of the ones you had seen. It had a canine-like appearance but was larger than a bear. It had been stalking the crime scene, circling around the unaware agents as if they were prey. Odd vein-like lines protruded from its skin, shifting around with the rest of its outer shell. Curiously, it was out in the daylight. They usually were out at sunset or sundown, but the sun’s heat typically burned their skin if they were out during the day. This one was also abnormally aggressive and freakishly strong. It’s almost as if it had gotten a shot of whatever the Hulk got. 

Were it not for the fact that it was, somehow, already injured, you would not have been able to defeat it. Its oil-like skin had begun to melt, wrapping around your neck and shoulders and slowly but surely running down your arms. It dug its claws into one of your shoulders before gunshots distracted it from its attack. 

Had it not been for Natasha Romanoff’s distraction and Wanda Maximoff aiding you with your blade, you would very much be dead. You remembered accidentally making eye contact with Maximoff, an odd feeling of warmth running down your back both times you had done so. The same feeling had occurred when your blade had suddenly flown into your hand. The arrival of the two Avengers at the crime scene cannot be a coincidence. 

You had not noticed the pedestrian light had switched to the white, walking figure until a man dressed in casual clothes walked past you, prompting you to follow. Thoughts of the last 20 minutes bounced inside your skull, making sure to keep as many of the details at the forefront of your mind until you could document them.

It took about 10 more minutes for you to arrive at your apartment. As you walked, you saw a variety of Shadows scurrying between objects and people’s, well, shadows. Runners also jumped between buildings, cars or streetlights, some following cars, others making their way through the city.

A small, musty, dark studio waits for you as you step through the door. A cramped kitchen stood to the left at the very end of the apartment, an equally cramped bathroom right next to it. A tall lamp stood beside the bathroom door, its positioning being able to light the entire space. Beside you was a small twin bed with plain blue sheets, a drawer right beside it, stacked with a few notebooks and sketchbooks on the top, along with a desk lap overlooking the bed. A compact window hung above it, a dark gray curtain shielding the inside from the outside sun and fluorescent streetlights of the city. Directly in front of you was a wooden dining table with two plastic chairs, a wooden chest not so well-hidden right underneath it.

A groan escapes you as you lean against the door, renewed exhaustion settling in your bones again. Worst of all, you had a graveyard shift tonight at the local gas station. The only relief of the night was knowing you would not have to stare at Ethan’s dumb face. Ethan, a 25-year-old man who still made “Yo Mama” jokes and thought himself the last Coke in the goddamn dessert, despite being an asshole who only worked at a shitty New York City gas station. Maybe you would not be so annoyed by his presence were it not for that fact that man never fully completed his shift responsibilities.

You push yourself off the door, peeling off the dumb jacket and dropping it on top of the nearest kitchen chair. You also pull off your shirt, slowly so as to not aggravate your shoulder, as you turn on your lamp before entering the bathroom. Dropping the tattered shirt on the bathroom floor, you ducked to look for the first aid kit you knew you had somewhere in your cabinets, finding it at the very back alongside an elastic bandage and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. 

Placing the kit on top of your sink, you finally take a look at the damage left behind by the Runner you fought not that long ago. Three puncture wounds starting at your shoulder that extended into three downward gashes, stopping just above your chest. You wince as you feel the telltale stinging of first degree burns on the very edges of the puncture wounds. The ends of the wounds were still bleeding. You figured that it wasn’t too bad though, some water, alcohol prep pads, and gauze should be good enough, no stitches or invasive procedures required. 

You take a shower first, washing off all the dirt, blood, and Runner gunk off your body. After drying off, you dress your wound with some rubbing alcohol, disinfectant and gauze from the kit. Having changed into some warm, comfortable clothing, you sit at your kitchen table with your laptop, a large notebook with all your notes about the case, as well as the small notebook you had brought to the crime scene. 

You transcribed your recent notes into the larger notebook, detailing the victim’s wounds, or the ones you could see, as well as the location he was found in. There was one thing that had caught your eye. The man, Elijah Brown, had something in his hand, but you had not been able to get a good look at it before forensics took it away for evidence. Details of the Runner you encountered were also included, making sure to add in how its behavior was different from the ones you had encountered before.

Runners had never been particularly dangerous. Most of the time, they completely avoided adult humans, including you. They did seem to play with young children though. You weren’t quite sure why nor how, but some kids were able to see them, besides you. They eventually age out of it though and eventually cannot see them anymore. Regardless, the Runners seem to entertain the young ones, particularly during long car rides. Years of observation made you notice an odd game they played, which consisted of them following high-speed vehicles, jumping between cars, buildings, streetlights or whatever stood in the way, as if they were following some arbitrary rules that only they knew of. Other than that, you have not quite figured out exactly why they are around.

Shadows were a different story. Although they did not forwardly attack humans, they did feed on fear. Most people do see them without realizing it, catching them as something  moves in the corners of their eyes, only to turn around and see nothing and no one. The fear of being in the dark and odd feeling of being watched when nothing is there is often a Shadow hiding within murky corners. When they are particularly hungry, they’ll sneak into a victim’s rooms at odd hours of the night, waking them by paralyzing them and taking the shape of odd, unsettling figures to thoroughly terrify whoever was unfortunate enough to have crossed its path.

Any pertinent information you gathered from news stories had been marked with a yellow highlighter, drawing matches between what you knew about Runners and what details of the case had been revealed to the public. While researching, you managed to find some of the leaked S.H.I.E.L.D. reports from last year. The government had tried wiping those off the internet, but many people had managed to download the files and reproduce them everywhere. 

Within those documents, you found a copy of a partially blacked-out file detailing the death of a park ranger found within a National Park’s office in Pennsylvania, sporting similar injuries as the current victims. The death of that park ranger had been blamed on a coyote, despite the fact that there was no evidence of such an animal breaking into the park’s office. Whatever has been going on during the recent months is not new, but it only seems to be getting worse now. 

A frustrated groan escapes your throat as you shut off your computer. Your notes about the case felt lackluster at best. Despite going to the crime scene in search for answers, your notes were scarce, and you had no explanation for the trail of dead people or the altered behavior of the creatures only you could see.

What are you doing? Why are you trying to play vigilante when you don't even know where to start? You don’t know what you are doing, you don’t know what you’re looking for, and worst of all, you’re probably on the government and the Avengers’ radar. 

Your eyes slowly glide towards an old wooden chest, given to you after your grandmother unexpectedly… passed away. You press your lips tightly, a sigh escaping you as you stare at it for what felt like an eternity. You walk towards your dining table, sinking to your knees to pull out the chest from underneath. Fiddling with the old, somewhat rusty latch, you manage to open it without ruining the lock’s integrity. The smell of metal and wood hits you as you open the lid. You push away a family photograph of the entire family reunited at your grandparents’ house that sat at the very top, as well as old family movies and photo albums. An old porcelain doll that belonged to your grandmother stared at you with dead, glassy eyes, sending a chill down your back. You turned it over so it would not look at you.

At the very bottom, you find the object you are looking for, covered up with a piece of white cloth. Removing the cloth, you stare at the thick, dark leather-bound book, your heart sinking in your chest. You run your fingers along the edge, your hands shaking subtly, debating whether or not you should open it. For a moment, you felt like you were ten years old again. Your mind flashes with the old memory you had not thought of in a long time. The one you did not want to think of.

You swallowed heavily, a burning mixture of anger, guilt and anguish licking at your heart like a flame. Your breath had picked up without you noticing, and you wanted nothing more than to not see that book again. Covering the book once more with the white cloth, you dropped it into the bottom of the trunk once more, abandoning any thoughts of opening it and potentially finding answers there. There has to be another way for you to find more information. These odd deaths have been happening for years now. There has to be a way for you to find that information elsewhere. The key to the answers must be somewhere besides in that stupid, fucking book.

The book radiated malice, and it had already cursed you once. You don’t plan on making the same mistake twice. Not unless the situation becomes dire enough for it.

You will figure this out. You have to. This got started because of you. People died because of you. You had to figure out what was happening, you had to make things right.

Your mind momentarily drifted to the two Avengers that saw you in the forest. There was no doubt in your mind that they were hunting you down right now. A conflicting feeling sat heavily within you. On the one hand, you were completely out of your depth trying to solve this problem by yourself. Maybe aiding each other is the answer. 

On the other hand, you do not know how they will react to you and your powerset. They probably think you’re the one behind all this. They can very easily decide to throw you in a cell and hand you over to the government, deeming you too dangerous to be out in the world, unaccounted for. No, you cannot get found, you do not want to take the risk. 

It was nearly 8:30pm when you checked your phone. It was a few hours before your shift, and the bone deep exhaustion you had managed to stave off was coming back with force. You will figure things out tomorrow. 

You set up an alarm an hour before your shift, before dropping face down on your bed. You fell asleep within the minute.

He remembers his first karting competition, the confidence that flowed through his veins and the adrenaline of thinking he was the fastest 10-year-old to ever exist. He’s still confident, he has to be, in order to make it in this sport, but he’s had years to refine his technique, understand his car, and finesse his driving so he can achieve the speed he needs to win a race. His speed on track has earned him a spot in the most exclusive grid on the planet, a process that was fast-tracked itself when he made the move to McLaren, shocking the motorsport world as he did.

His mom jokes that he’d been a pretty chill baby, and that even when his younger sisters came along, he never really fought for his parents’ attention, which at first worried his parents, afraid that he’d simply been building on his rage and would throw a fit eventually. But no, not really, Oscar had just been content with being there, watching the world around him with wide, observant eyes. So long as they let him read his car magazines and zoom around his house pretending to be a Ferrari, he was fine with having his younger sisters around.

“I think Ozzy here is not telling us something, mate,” George conspires, and Alex hiccups through a laugh before he stands, wobbly, and walks closer to where Oscar’s standing.

“Out with it, you rascal,” says Alex, hand aiming for Oscar’s shoulder but landing somewhere on his collarbone instead.

Oscar can’t help laughing at the ridiculous display in front of him and decides to simply accept his fate and tell them, as good-naturedly as he can: “Pretty sure he’s somewhere around here hooking up with Daniel’s sister.”

He’d thought his pals’ reactions would range from vulgar remarks to crude gestures, jokes at Daniel’s expense, that sort of thing. Instead, his announcement is met with drunk pity. They both look like they kicked a puppy, and the puppy is Oscar.

This is precisely why he’d been pretending to be drunk. So that they could maintain the guise of not remembering the next day and doing it all over again at the next wedding.

Lando knows using his old nickname for Oscar is a low blow, if his expression is anything to go by. But whatever. He’s fed up with this, and he wants Oscar as far away from him as possible, so if it hurts him, good.

Zac is turning red, and his mouth is opening, surely to remind Lando of his place, but Oscar beats him to it. He stands, inclines his head politely in Zac’s direction, and steps directly in front of Lando’s chair. His jaw is set, eyes cold. Lando has never seen him angry, had thought him incapable of it.

“I wasn’t expecting much, but I definitely thought you’d at least grown the fuck up,” he sneers. “Clearly, I was wrong. And for the record, you crashed into me. Thank you, Zac, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Insert Clown Music

Rain fell on Jason as he sped through the forest, the sound of his motorcycle revving in the darkness. Speeding by all the trees, Jason tried to drown out his thoughts that were full of 'what if's and 'maybe's. 

He revved his bike, loud, and tried to drive through the forest quicker, feeling as if the branches of the trees were trying to pull him back. Coming out of the clearing, Jason made his way across the bridge and back into the city, having to slow down before he ended up hydroplaning.

He slowly came to a stop in front of a red light, the streets quiet and empty for once, an honest surprise since it was Gotham after all. Jason having lean on one of his feet as he waited for the light to turn green, he became lost in thought, the raindrops that fell onto his body almost entrancing.

Maybe he should have stayed at the manor after all.

But what if he ended up regretting to stay there?

Would Bruce regret asking him to stay?

It was probably for the best that Jason hadn't said yes after all.

Maybe Jason shouldn't have even gone to the party in the first place. It would've been better if he just stayed back to patrol like he said he was going to. Maybe then—

"WATCH OUT!"

Jason's brows furrowed, but by the time he tried looking, something, or someone to be more specific, had crashed into him. The sudden crash caused him and his bike to both fall and skid against the pavement.

The vigilante grunted, his entire body slightly aching as he stared up at the night sky, the rain falling down on his helmet. Slowly turning his head to the left, he had found his bike lying on it's side, the engine still running as the headlight was now slightly cracked.

Just. Great.

Slowly getting up, he grunted once more, his bones popping as he got himself up to his feet. Walking over to his bike, he looked at the side that it had fallen on. A frown made its way to his lips, seeing the scratch marks all over on it now.

A groan could be heard over the soft pattering of the rain, and when he had looked over, Jason's face only soured more at seeing the familiar spider suit. She seemed to lay there on the asphalt for a good while before slowly sitting up.

"I knew I should've taken the bus." She grunted, getting herself up on her feet. She began to brush off any gravel that stuck to her suit, quietly muttering to herself before seeing a pair of boots stand right in front of her.

Slowly looking up, she looked at the familiar red helmet and white glowing eyes that stared her down.

"We really gotta stop meeting like this." She tried to joke, an awkward smile on her lips.

". . ."

The two vigilantes only stared at each other before the Spider cleared her throat, shooting him small finger guns. "Good talk.."

"You scratched my bike." 

"Sorry?"

"You scratched. My. Bike." He repeated, enunciating his words more.

She stared at him for a good moment before leaning to the side a bit, her head peeking out from his broad shoulders to see his bike propped up, seeing faint white scratch marks on its left side.

"Oh. It seems I have." She looked back at him who only continued to stare her down.

She shuffled a bit under his piercing gaze, feeling a bit uneasy at his lack of raging emotions that wasn't turned towards her.

"I can uh.. I can pay you back?" It came out as more of a question, but Jason only rolled his eyes. 

"I don't want your money." He scoffed, turning around and walked back to his bike. The Spider quickly followed behind him.

"My offer still stands though!" She quickly said. "I mean, maybe not right now, but if you give me a bit of time—"

She let out a small 'oomph!' as she crashed into his back. Soon, the second Robin had turned back around, slightly leaning down and stared right into her large slanted lenses.

"Wow you are.. Very close..." She chuckled nervously.

"I am about this close to putting a bullet through your big ass eyes if you don't shut your damn mouth." He threatened. He soon turned back around, swinging his leg over his bike.

"No small talk, duly noted." She muttered. Clearing her throat, she stood to the side. Jason only ignored her though, about to start the engine to his bike until the words she spoke had baffled him.

"Got room for one more..?"

Jason froze, staring at his hand that was about to turn the ignition on. Slowly turning his head, he looked at her who just stood there a bit awkwardly.

"Are you fucking serious?"

"Very."

Jason only stared at her in disbelief while she rubbed the back of her neck, beginning to ramble.

"Usually I wouldn't have a problem getting home, but I didn't realize how far the city was from Wayne Manor and by the time I made it here I sorta ran out of my webs. And you know this usually doesn't happen, and I promise that-"

Jason was going to lose his goddamn mind.

Her words were going through one ear and out the other for him. And the more she talked, the more he could feel his patience running thin. Honestly, she was worse than Dick, and that says something because his brother doesn't know how to shut his mouth either.

"Which is crazy because-"

"Just get on the damn bike already."

"What?" She quickly straightened her posture once looking at him in mere surprise.

"Hurry up before I change my mind." He turned the key in the ignition, his bike roaring to life again.

"Oh! Uh, okay!" Quickly jogging over, she slid herself behind Jason. "Do you have another helmet or-"

"Nope."

And he sped off, causing the woman to yelp and quickly wrap her arms around his mid-section tightly. He couldn't help but let out a small amused huff, a slight smug smirk on his face, continuing to speed down the streets.

At some point, she had pointed out where he could drop her off, saying she could walk the rest of the way back to her apartment. 

Slowly coming to a stop, the Red Hood leaned on his foot while the Spider got off his bike. 

"Well, thank you again for—"

SCREEEECH!!

"Aaaand he's gone..." She watched as he sped off, the sound of his motorcycle becoming more and more distant.

"At least I don't have to pretend to start walking..." She muttered and looked over at her apartment building. 

Looking around, she jogged her way over to an alleyway before climbing up the wall of the apartment building she resided in. Once she made it to her bedroom window, the Spider let out a long sigh, relieved to have finally made it back home. 

With tired limbs, she dragged herself through her window, using whatever strength she had left to close it. Pulling the mask off from her head, she shuffled her feet near her bed, only to fall face first into the covers.

Another exhausted sigh left her lips, this one being a bit more exaggerated.

Today was definitely tiring. From having to swing to pretty much the country side to get to the mansion, to fighting Black Mask's men and then swinging back to the city, only to end up having a bit of a gnarly fall and meeting Red Hood again—which she was sure he hated her guts.

Her entire body ached, not having moved that much since her more active days as Spider-Woman. Turning her head, she stared at her phone that was resting on her bedside table. With a lazy arm, she swiped it off from the table, looking at the unread messages.

One being from her Aunt May and the other being from her boss.

Shit, right. The pictures..

With an exhausted groan, she pulled herself away from her comfortable bed, shuffling her feet over to her laptop. Grabbing her USB, she plugged it into her laptop, looking at the files that held all of the photos she had taken throughout the years with bleary eyes. 

Letting out a large yawn, the Spider rubbed her eyes while tiredly humming, picking a random file and letting them be transported to her USB.

While that was happening, she got back up and tiredly changed out of her Spider-Woman suit, throwing the pieces of her suit all over her bedroom floor. Continuing to drag her feet against the floor, she was able to make it to her bathroom to give her face a quick splash.

Eyes not even opened anymore, she shuffled her way back to her laptop, quietly cursing as she bumped into a few of her things or stubbing her feet into whatever she had decorated her room with.

Squinting her eyes opened, she saw that the photos were done uploading. Unplugging her USB, she closed her laptop and put her USB into her camera bag. Turning around and going back to her bed, the vigilante dove face first into her blankets and pillows, only to knock out a few moments later.

In the morning, the Spider was making her way to her work, coffee cup in hand, camera bag slung around her shoulder, and feet shuffling against the ground. 

She was unbelievably tired. She didn't know what time she had got home or what time she went to bed, all she knew was that she didn't get enough sleep at all. She wondered how she could stay up so late and be energized in the morning back in high school.

She'll never know.

Walking up to her boss' office, she stared at the door, hearing female Jameson's voice just beyond it. It was obvious she was irritated with how she was practically yelling at whoever the poor soul was.

Continuing to wait for a few more moments until it was complete silence, the Spider soon gave the door a light knock. Once hearing a stern 'come in' after the knock, she quickly entered the office.

Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath before exhaling quietly and entered the office. The woman was currently on her computer, not even looking at the vigilante.

"Ma'am I-"

"I want you to take pictures of Spider-Woman."

"What?"

"Preferably with Gotham's vigilantes." 

Turning her computer screen to face her employee, the secret vigilante's eyes widened, seeing a shaky video of her, Red Hood, and Nightwing working together to take down Black Mask's men.

Oh she was—

"—So dead." Jason muttered, staring at the video that was playing the fight from last night. People were commenting on the video like a wild fire, and soon enough, different articles of Spider-Woman started to be published as well.

"Replacing the bats?" Jason scoffed at one of the titles. "I bet she couldn't even kill a fly." He rolled his eyes. 

The door in front of him opened, making Jason look up, turning off his phone simultaneously. Alfred was there, a warm smile on his face.

"You do know you can enter the manor as you please, don't you Master Todd?" He chuckled. "You do live here as well."

The second Robin gives a small chuckle at this as well. "Yeah I know, just something in this article caught my attention Alfred."

"Spider-Woman I presume?" He rose a brow, taking a step back while Jason entered the mansion, the butler closing the door behind him.

Jason sighed, a small frown on his lips. "Seems like she's the talk of the town recently." 

"It is obvious that her skills are nothing but mediocre compared to my skills." A young, yet arrogant voice could be heard from one of the rooms up ahead.

"She seems to be the talk in the manor as well." Alfred chuckled softly, Jason only groaned at this.

Parting ways, Alfred going back to the kitchen while Jason went to the room all of his siblings seem to be currently in, he watched Tim wave his phone around, a smug look on his face.

"Really? Because to me it seemed like she caught you by total surprise." He mused.

Damian only glared at his adopted brother. "Father told me I was not allowed to fight in any way, I was simply following orders."

Jason snorted at this, making the two boys look over at him. "You? Follow orders? That's hilarious."

All eyes were soon on Jason.

"Well look who finally decided to show up." Dick mused from the couch.

Jason only rolled his eyes and made his way over to the youngest. He handed him a neatly wrapped present. The boy let out a huff of annoyance, taking it with silent gratitude and opened it, only to reveal a copy of Les Misérables.

"Happy birthday demon bird." Jason mused, ruffling the boy's head who glared at the taller man, quickly fixing his hair. 

"These traditions are still stupid.." The boy muttered, looking down at the book, the tiniest hint of a smile on his lips.

The older siblings all glanced at each other, knowing smiles on their faces but kept quiet. 

"You think we'll see her later tonight for patrol?" Stephanie questioned, watching a video of Spider-Woman fighting, Cassandra—who was sitting next to her—watched the video as well.

"I will make sure she feels my wrath after what happened at the party." Damian huffed

"Oh you mean her webbing you to the ceiling?" Tim pulled out his phone, waving it around in the air for everyone to see a zoomed in photo of a not-so-happy Damian stuck to the ceiling.

"If you do not delete that Drake I will murder you." The fourth Robin hissed.

"Already in the group chat." Barbara chimes, making the others snicker.

Damian let out a small Tt while crossing his arms.

"That's enough teasing." Bruce comes into the room, a small chuckle leaving his lips. "It's his birthday after all."

"All the more reason to tease him." Tim rolled his eyes.

Jason tensed as Bruce had all taken a good look at his children until he landed lastly on him. He smiled at Jason, almost making the second Robin slightly squirm under his gaze.

"Glad you could make it Jason." He said softly.

"..Yeah." Jason crossed his arms, looking away.

A sad smile made its way to Bruce's face, but Dick was quick to try and not make the room too sad or awkward.

"Find anything useful on the cameras?" He quipped.

Looking over at Dick, he only shook his head. "Nothing, just a replay of Sionis's men blowing up the ballroom wall." He answered.

"We also seem to have a broken camera." Alfred walked in, setting down a plate of cookies onto the coffee table. "It seems our surprise guest accidentally broke it." He chuckled softly.

"Got it." Barbara chimed, waving her tablet in the air. 

Everyone grouped behind her as she played the security footage from last night.

Nothing was shown at first, until the body of someone climbing up the wall could be seen at the very edge, and then the view was quickly pointed down at the wall instead of the yard.

"Oh shit..!" A voice quietly hissed. 

The view of the camera began to swing a bit, the quiet sound of webs coming out as the camera was once again facing the yard, and then the mask of slanted eyes with webs decorated on it appeared.

"Hi Mr. Wayne, uh, sorry about breaking your camera. I kinda fixed it? You might have to replace it though because my webs disappear after a certain amount of time. I would like to say that I would pay you back but I mean, you're not called a billionaire for nothing right?" She laughed nervously.

Soon, the camera shook, the sound of an explosion going off, alerting the Spider.

"I should, probably go tend to that." She pointed out of view of the camera. "Hopefully me saving the party is a good repayment for breaking your camera. Anyways, uh, I'll be going then." She soon began to crawl off, a distant 'Sorry about the camera again!' being picked up from the mic before the footage ended.

"At least she was nice enough to apologize." Tim commented.

"She seems fun!" Stephanie smiled, Cassandra nodding along.

As everyone continued to talk along, Jason only stood off to the side, his lips pressed into a thin line, his arms crossed.

It wasn't long until an arm slung around his neck, his body being slightly pulled down as he was briefly given a noogie.

"Hey—!" Jason exclaimed, pushing the culprit away, who—of course—was none other than Dick.

He laughed a bit, a grin on his face. "Come on Jaybird, she's not all that bad." He tried to reason.

Jason rolled his eyes, trying to fix his hair. "Yeah but she's still a pain in the ass." 

"She can't be all that bad." The first Robin smiled. 

"Maybe for you.." Jason muttered, remembering how she had crashed into him last night, causing a bit of damage to his bike, it was brand new too.

Now Jason was starting to become irritated just thinking about it.

With a slight nudge from Dick, Jason had an unimpressed look as he looked at him.

"Ah come on, you don't really mean that!"

Jason in fact, did mean it.

Especially when she was the cause of the both of them getting caught by Black Mask.

Jason stared at the wall, annoyed as they hung upside down on the ceiling from her web, the two vigilantes slowly spinning.

"So uh.. Nice weather we're having..?" She laughed nervously.

how to properly heal

really quickly my lights flickered extremely fast that may or may not be a sign? pile 1 you are a very resistant group at times. you WANT change you WANT to move on from this and get better but there’s fear. there’s a sense of anxiety when it finally comes to actually changing. you are a very strong pile mentally but your battle cry is terrifying. i see you may be someone who carry’s a lot of burdens and for a lot of you i’m seeing this being from family. lots and lots of family trauma in this pile. pile 1 you are a very psychic pile as well. speak to the universe. let them hear what you really want don’t hold back. you can receive anything you want. but? take that brick off your chest. untie those sandbags that weigh down your shoulders. you didn’t put them there in the first place so WHY should they stay? some of you may be sooo scared of spending too much money. go on a shopping spree. go crazy. text up an old friend. one you haven’t talked to in a while. text a grandparent of yours. they would love to hear from you right now. pile 1 you’re very resistant right now but you know if you move on your life will become better. so why are you holding back? don’t let this life changing moment go away. snatch it up. don’t let it go. it’s meant to be yours so let it be yours. if you look away from this you won’t see another just as amazing as this one. pile 1 you want to properly heal? change how you live. life feel like it’s repeating? don’t let that make you lose your sanity. one small thing you change day to day will make you feel human again. pile 1 i’m seeing that if you just change how you live for yourself and not for others you could heal. smoother and more balanced. you will come out of this feeling like you’ve accomplished more goals in your life then ever before.

getting rid of old habits. i heard old habits being people. getting rid of things that no longer serve you for good. finding balance in your day to day life with things you ACTUALLY enjoy. you’re too bored constantly. you feel so slumped and angry and bored because your environment is just one big dump. get out of there fast! go outside go see a friend go out to eat. do something other than being THERE. (this can also refer to thinking differently. get out of that gloomy mindset. think about things that actually matter.) you feel so tired right now. go get that rest. you’ve been sleeping too much? get up and do a walk around wherever you are. stretch your legs. pick up the things in your life that offer you a good future full of abundance and clarity. leave what DOESNT!!!!! oh wow some of you really need to kill of that old you. the death card and ten of swords are screaming START OVERRRR. really think this time. what do you want to do with your life and how do you want to live it? where do you want to go in the future and what will you do to reach those goals? the universe is offering you out a hand an offering. take this as a time to really sit and think. think about yourself. you’re mostly in a battle with yourself at this time. it doesn’t have to stay this way forever. start living a life where you’re in control and not living by others rules. you’re in control. take back the life you always deserved to live.

soooo many reversals for this pile o.m.g. pile 3 not even a hug can fix your wounded heart. lol in all seriousness. pile 3 recently you’ve been in a LOT of conflict. and some of you hate to admit it… you’re the ones who start it a lot of the time. this doesn’t mean you WANT conflict hearsay. but you are someone who is a force to be reckoned with at times. take what i say personally because this is a biggggg wake up call to some of you. there are people in your life who love love love to see you fail. they crave the validation of watching you mess up in life. don’t believe me? how many so called friends actually are worried about how YOU feel? if you haven’t been able to open up with somebody due to fear or someone’s lack of interest they are NOT your friend. they’re an energy vampire. get rid of these people immediately. you may also experience a lack of focus recently followed with extreme frustrations. do some shadow work. why are you feeling these emotions? they’re not just showing up out of thin air. where are you when you feel these emotions? at home ? with a friend ? at work ? etc. what is happening in this setting that is making you feel such frustration? somebody talking too loud ? a loud chewer ? or just merely being there in the first place ? figure out what this reason is and try to understand it. maybe if your willing copy that thing. does it feel good to do? or does it only make you angrier? a lot of you cannot move on and properly heal because you’re stuck in the past. something has hurt you in your past badly but you can’t seem to let it go. you feel fearful? you’re very similar to pile 1. you’re afraid of change? some of you have become very very comfortable in this dark part of you. you’re afraid of leaving this headspace because you’ve lived in it for so long. start giving to others more? ask people how they’re feeling and about their day. soon enough you’ll see a change. more interactions less frustration. but don’t just ask other people, ask yourself. how are you feeling today? are you comfortable right now? what are you feeling is yummy for lunch/dinner? etc. do NOT by any means get up and walk away from this. you are capable of becoming that desired you. don’t let these thoughts interfere with your way of life; you are worth it.

Day 9 - Episode Nine: Millions Knives

Continuing with gifsets featuring my favourite tracks from the tristamp OST. (I ended up picking pretty much all the tracks for this episode lol)

Lol like the above says...yeah I think I included all the tracks this episode. They were all just so good! (The first three are on my playlist, and Geodome is an extra addition because I want to link thoughts about it).

Duet - nothing else to say here other than another beautiful Knives-centric piano song. But can I just say that I love how Vash comes and nudges Nai over in this gif? It's so damn cute.

Last Run - I like the progression of this track. It really does sound like it's gearing up for some type of "run", especially when that...electronic bit?? (I honestly have no idea what to call it) kicks in at around 1:25. Makes me think of something revving up lol. And then we get to hear compatriots again and the transition to Knives' theme.

Drain Gate - More of that....electronic bit! (Seriously if someone knows what I should be calling that please let me know. It gives me cyber-esque vibes) And more Knives' theme. It's hard to not include everything that includes his leitmotif - it's just so freaking good.

Geodome - For this I want to point to this post originally from @revenantghost who got me thinking about this track by sharing their thoughts :)
