Okay. So in Danmark we have this concept called a "kvaje kage", which literally means "screw-up cake". Essentially, it's when you've screwed up in either your place of work or any other cultural context, and you need to "atone" by bringing cake the next day. It's very common here. But, some bakers also make some form of cake or pastry that they call a kvaje kage, and well, this one Danish baker just made these lol
Tumblr media
Donald Trump kvaje kage. Both to be used as a kvaje kage, but also because, well, Trump is quite the kvaj himself lol. Oh, and these kvaje kager are a play on the type of pastry/cake we have in Danmark called "Kaj kage" that looks like this
Tumblr media
Kaj is one half of quite the cultural institution here in Danmark: the extremely popular children's show characters called Kaj & Andrea
Tumblr media
Kaj & Andrea originally ran from 1971-1975, and then again from 1996-2007, and they were IMMENSELY popular here. Both my parents and then me and my siblings grew up with them, and you've been able to buy Kaj & Andrea plushies ever since the show first started (and most kids here had both of them at some point or another)
Anyways, context probably wasn't needed, but I just thought tumblr might find this funny 😄

VENDELBO HATSUNE MIKU JAAAAAAAA 🇩🇰🛵🍺⚫💰
A friend of mine and I brainstormed over how a Danish Hatsune Miku (but specifically from Northern Jutland) would look like and behave. The jumpsuit, (illegal) moped, and Grøn Tuborg beer was a must. Everything else sort of fell in place afterwards. This depiction is so, so real. I have family that look and speak like this lol
Apropos speaking, in case you're wondering about what she's saying; she's complaining about taxes. I wanted to be sure the sentence in Vendelbomål is spelled correct, and so I used Vendsysselsk ordbog by Arne Espegaard.... which was a total of 4 entire books to go through, but worth the effort!
The blue/orange/green flag is Vendelbrog, the local flag around here.

@xgergo
This is technically correct!
This is the meaning of the word, historically speaking, although it's not how we say it today. Today, it's been abbreviated. Here's a good video explanation, which is why I'm answering your post in a separate post, as I could not reply with the video

“People have said to me, if I wasn’t going to sing ‘Immigrant Song,’ full belt, then actually I was no longer a man."
—Robert Plant, Entertainment Weekly, 15 November 2021
No high-pitched, battle-cry belting, still a man.

Hej Nordiska vänner and everybody
There is a thing called Runeberg.org that is like Project Gutenberg, but focusing on Nordic texts. They have scans of old books, from which a computer has extracted the text, and that automatic text needs to be proofread and corrected to match the scanned page.
Its a lot of stuff in Swedish but also plenty other languages too (Danish and Norwegian and Finnish, but also German, French, English, Latin...)
So if you wanna do some volunteer good work in the world you can help out with the proofreading. It's all done in the browser, I've been doing it on the phone, so it really doesn't take anything special.
Some stuff is in blackletter, which can be hard to read if youre not used to it, but there's also stuff in more modern fonts.
Here are the instructions in how to do it:
I'm currently proofreading a Finnish translation of Danish stories from the 1800s. You can arrange the titles according to language, so you can find the ones you can read.
There are at least a couple of "English-speaking person travels in Sweden and describes what's there" -books that are in English in the time period I looked at.
