Okay I'm so sleep deprived so pardon whatever this is but something that's got me FUCKED up about ai generated pictures songs writing is that it just fucking kills the ability to analyse for me because there's no fucking INTENTION behind it. Like why was this decision made why were these colours used what does that say about the work NOTHING because a bunch of programming took work that DID have intent and theme and purposeful choices and turned it into SLOP. Like I COULD analyse this but it doesn't MEAN anything it's EMPTY I want to EXPLODEEE
#Like you can. You can technically analyse ai work for theme and visual literary etc motif but it's all fucking slop to me man#It's making me so cynical about like. Art. I guess. Given the state of corporations and capitalism and the endless stream of#MAKE MONEY BY ANY MEANS. FOR EVERY SECOND THE LINE DOESN'T GO UP WE EXECUTE A HOSTAGE#Like FUCK#I saw that fucking coca cola ad on tv and I wanna get violent man. Like the ad as a representation of all of. This#I know an ad isn't the same kinda thing it's just on my mind#Like nothing means anything anymore it's all gotta be slop it's all gotta be easy corporate slop to appease the market. Every fuckin thing#Ai generated shit is just an endless meaningless hole of malicious thieving garbage and I want to commit a crime#Sorry hi I've been back on that doing art professionally (kinda) grind and I haven't slept in a solid three days it's kinda wearing on me#Gonna be real lads#Oh also that's another thing this is my fucking. Like career path. I do art. And I have to monetize my one great passion. In order to eat#And pay for the constantly exploding rent prices. And now corporations are like hmmmmm#What if we didn't even pay you for that#What if. Hear me out. We stole people's work and made a computer do it#AND THE STUFF THE COMPUTER IS DOING IS GARBAGE#MEANINGLESSNESS SHIT ON TOP OF MEANINGLESS SHIT. FOR PROFIT#Uh anyways I'm going to bed now I have to get up in 3 hours I hope everyone has a better night than this and gets some rest!!#ai mention#vent post

One of the interesting bits of trying to resume working on the game after so long is looking back at my ancient Draft Placeholder versions of an image from 4 yrs ago trying to remember what the hell I meant back then, to hopefully interpret it into some more final (ish..) form of the same thing .. making slow progress lol
#At this point I've decided it's just a consistent design decision to have the sketchy slightly wonky sort of art ghbjj#I simply don't have the digital art skills/tools/patience (mostly that) to do 100% digital things and have a Clean Polished Professional#Neat Looking Perfect Crisp Lines sort of thing like one would see in most games. I'm drawing everything in pencil half decently (not strict#ly making sure every line is straight or that the perspective even makes sense) and then scanning it in and coloring it on the computer#and that's about it. In another world I could hire an artist or two to do professional backgrounds and charcter art or etc. - but as I am#a mere penniless peasant hermit with functioning issues who has to do every aspect of everything themselves - I'm just going to do#what is possible within the time frame/my ability/etc. and then just be like ''ah you see! actually this is intentional~ it has a homemade#crafty hand drawn sort of charm about it - yes? this was the direction all along!!'' LOL#Which for the record I'm not like complaining that it's necssarily Bad or anything - more just I suppose not the Professional Polished#style you Typically see in a lot of things - again the like - sketchy unclean lines of it all.#(like I think usually people use some sort of symmetry tool to make sure that all sides of a box are neat and clean and have that#Professional Game Art type of feel about them - rather than 'this is a scan of scraggily pencil lines in which I did not even bother to use#a ruler or try to get them all that even' lol). So it's not that it's BAD really.#just I think.. perhaps ''unconventional'' compared to the examples of other#games I've looked at. BUT. the point is to convey an idea. I think your art has failed if you do not convey a concept properly. But so#long as it meets your purposes and is not SOO cluttered/scribbly that nobody can even tell what's going on (unless that IS your intention)#then like.. I think it's fine. You can tell a house is a house even if it's not polished. No worries. (<convincing myself)#ANYWAY.. also 'Nanyevimi Market Quest' is still SUCH a placeholder name but I genuinely can never think of anything else so#I've just been going with it for now ToT... There's no distinct actual throughline story/plot so there's no 'theme' to base a title#around. Kind of like how 'The Sims' is just called the sims because naming it like 'Sims: Downfall Of Pleasantview' (one of the#towns in TS2 i think) would be a weird misname since what happens in the game totally depends on what you choose to do with it#So you can't really name it anything THAT specific (a player might not even choose to have a house in Pleasantview. what then? etc).#So it's just like..uh well...GENERALLY speaking.. everyone is uh.. on a personal quest..vaguely.. which takes place in a Market street full#of shops.. and you are mostly talking to shopkeepers... BUT it's not just a Market Quest since it's also in a fantasy world.. so we need to#give the fantasy world name.. and that's about it. I'm just at a loss for anything else. Maybe the like 2 and a half playtesters I#manage to scrounge up will have better ideas ghhh.. 'Nanyevimi Quest: Get To Know Some Shopkeepers' 'Find A Job In Fantasy World' you could#say 'Market Adventure' but some would argue just having a bunch of conversations and wandering around is not much of a real adventure.#don't want to set people up for thinking there's any drama or combat or anything. 'Do Menial Errands For Mentally Ill Elves Simulator' ghjg#(also sidenote: the '''chibi'' style versions of the characters on the menu screen....EVIL.. that style is SOOO hard for me to draw in for#some reason.. I just can't get the proportions right/have trouble fully ''simplifying'' the design.. took me HOURS lol... aUGHh)

Okay. It's time for an AI rant.
My nephew is 13 years old. Whenever he writes a paper for school, I check it over and fix all of his mistakes for him. He said to me, "Maybe I'll proofread your paper for you in exchange," meaning one of the scholarly articles I write for work. I said, "Cool," and gave him the file. And he said, "Well, this is full of errors! See, you always say you have a lot to correct on my stuff, and look at all the stuff you got wrong!" And I said, surprised, "What? Where?" Because I'm sure there are typos in the draft I sent him, but not, like, that many.
And then he pointed to the screen and said, "Look at all the blue and red lines you have."
And I said, "Yeah, but those are wrong. Like, those are blue and red lines I'm ignoring because the computer is wrong." And then I paused and added, "You know you can't proofread a paper by just looking at the red and blue lines, right?" And he gave me the blankest look, because that clearly is EXACTLY what he thinks. And it became even clearer suddenly why, whenever I correct something on his paper, his immediate reaction is, "It didn't have a blue or red line."
There's a very good reason for that: THAT'S BECAUSE THE COMPUTER ISN'T SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT IT WAS WRONG.
I am so tired of being sold the idea that computers are better than humans and so we should just outsource everything to them, which is clearly the lesson my nephew is absorbing in U.S. middle school. COMPUTERS ARE NOT BETTER THAN HUMANS. Like, maybe they are better at humans at crawling through rubble to find people trapped inside. They are also better at preserving things in a searchable format. Things like that. Very limited circumstances.
I don't want to sound alarmist but everything I hear about people using generative AI freaks me out. It's not just that I'm freaked out by people being like, "I use it to write novels!" (Although I don't see how they do, I have tried to have it write fiction for me and the output was truly terrible.) But I recognize my bias around creative writing and so no one needs to credit my views on artificial writing. But! Other things are alarming, too! "I use it to brainstorm x, y, or z." But...why? Why not just...use your own brain...to...brain...storm? The computer doesn't even have a brain to brainstorm with! And you might be like, "But it comes up with things that my brain would never think of!" So would other people! You could also brainstorm with other people! Or even through Google to see what other people have thought before you (not AI). Please don't belittle the wonder of thinking.
I just feel like the marketing around generative AI boils down to "Wouldn't it be easier not to use your own brain to think about things?" Everyone. No. It would not be. Please just trust me on this. I'm not just an old person who is out of touch with technology or something. I promise. USE YOUR BRAINS. IT WILL BE OKAY.

Everyone that realistically can, should be able to work remotely. I'm picking up a couple hours remotely today because we have a big event coming up, and this is the best workday ever.
#by 'realistically can' i mean like. cashiers or food service cant really work remote#but if you have a computer job? you should be able to do everything remotely#im at a coffee shop that i love and im just sipping my drinkies and being so comfy and productive#my job is mostly a computer job so i should be able to do this like every day of the work week except maybe one#because my job involves a small amount of photography too#but i took the pictures i needed yesterday. so now i can make my silly little posts#this is the best. i feel like a kid that gets to stay home from school#i have my headphones on (not allowed when i do my work at the front desk) and im just having a blast#i can get up and get a drink and sit back down and it doesn't count against my work time like it would if i had to drive to the coffee plac#we gotta do something about this. and by 'something' i mean im ready to murder employers that insist on no remote work#actually i might get to continue my job remotely at least for a little bit while they find my replacement#im moving but they dont want to lose their social media presence between me moving and finding a new marketing person#so its looking like ill be able to stay on remotely and then theyll give me generous notice once they find my replacement#not confirmed yet but hopefully soon!#it would be amazing if i could move without the added stress of having to find a new job right away#anyway if you can remote work you should be able to and im ready to die and kill on that hill

Quantum computing stocks surged on Thursday as Microsoft’s breakthrough Majorana 1 chip, unveiled Wednesday, signaled the technology’s practical use may be closer than expected. The chip, touted as less error-prone than rivals, challenges Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s claim that quantum computing is “decades away.”
With evidence published in Nature, Microsoft joins Alphabet and IBM in believing the transformative tech—capable of solving problems in seconds that take traditional systems millions of years—is nearing reality. Despite a rocky start to 2024, with stocks down 18%-70% after January losses, the Majorana 1 chip has reignited optimism, positioning quantum computing as a potential game-changer for industries and cybersecurity.

okay Last BG3 content but holy shit. i have to recommend this to everyone on earth. it does contain spoilers but this is better than every romance novel i’ve read in the last 10 years and easily becoming my fave fanfic. even if you have no interest is bg3 you should fucking read this. it’s SO good.
if you like vampires you should read this. oh my god. the pining is incredible, the feelings are well handled, and the progression into sexual things is the most realistic i’ve ever read in any piece of media, ever. it’s a healthy sexual dynamic the likes of which i’m not sure i’ve EVER seen in fiction before.
it’s got drama and humor and hot sexy vampire boyfriend and witty sarcastic dialogue. what the fuck more could you ask for.
The Arrangement
Summary: You managed to convince Astarion not to go through with the rite of profane ascension. He remains a vampire spawn, and you now offer your blood from time to time to help with his sanguine hunger until a solution is found.
Even though you had both decided to stay as friends back in Moonrise Towers, lines begin to blur once more as other cravings come to the surface… and things with Astarion are seldom uncomplicated.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Astarion x female!Tav
Rating: Explicit/18+
Setting: Canon compliant. Post-endgame.
Warnings (will be added as the series progresses): Blood drinking. Pining. Biting. Sexual tension. Mentions of past abuse. Explicit smut.

I Am Your Father
People who call themselves "Father" without formal religious authority might be perceived as self-important because they are assuming a title that traditionally signifies spiritual leadership, wisdom, and authority. Here are some reasons why this can come across as self-important:
Claiming Authority Without Recognition – In established religious traditions, "Father" is a title earned through ordination. When someone uses it without being part of a recognized institution, it can seem like they are elevating themselves without legitimate backing.
Seeking Influence – Some individuals adopt the title to gain followers or exert influence over others, positioning themselves as a source of wisdom or spiritual guidance.
Creating a Persona – Some may use "Father" as part of a self-styled image to appear more enlightened, powerful, or special compared to ordinary people.
Manipulation or Cult Behavior – In extreme cases, self-proclaimed religious leaders use the title to control or manipulate others, demanding loyalty and obedience.
Of course, not everyone who calls themselves "Father" without official status is necessarily self-important. Some might do it for harmless personal reasons or cultural traditions. However, when someone adopts a title that implies authority without earning it through recognized means, it can raise questions about their motivations.

THE COURAGE OF HOMO
When it comes to deals, you have to assume that anything you've made is far short of what it could be. She arrived looking astonished. Bootstrapping sounds great in principle, but this would be one of them the top one shockingly inefficient, and the key to optimization is profiling. The world changes fast, and the most common form of failure is running out of money, the underlying concepts don't. -Oriented programming, by the way they treat the music they sell through iTunes. How much of the country yet. I only got it because I was writing about spam filtering.
5% of the company to a new investor, your 4. Angels are the limiting reagent in startup formation. Their instincts got them this far. The Defense Department is encouraging developers to use Java.1 They have little discipline. In the mid twentieth century there was a great deal of profanity. There are usually a lot of progress in that department so far. When you change the angle of a branch five degrees, no one will know. Think about your own experience: most links you follow lead to something lame.
5% with less than. 6546 In the Plan for Spam, and what to do using programs we would recognize as such. Some now think YC's alumni network is its most valuable feature. I think it is good to have such a target and to keep it consciously in mind. So why do it? Just write whatever you want and don't cite any previous work, and programmers hate that as much as Apple would.2 There could be a legitimate reason for doing this. Now I understand what she meant. People have been talking about parallel computation as something imminent for at least 20 years, and then explain why it's mistaken. I'd see something as I was walking down the street on trash night beware of anything you find yourself describing as perfectly good, or I'd find something in almost new condition for a tenth its retail price and what I paid for it.3 One is that these users are the people they never got.
Popularity is always self-perpetuating, but it's hard to get an accurate picture of most jobs. You seem to be able to transcend your environment. I know what branch of the tree to bet on people. The computer world has a name for this: premature optimization.4 Economically, a startup is like science in that you have to follow the truth wherever it leads. Strangely enough, if you did a really good job, you could degrade fairly gracefully into consulting by building sites for clients with it. If an investor gives you specific reasons for not investing, look at your startup and ask if they're right. When he rides the Segwell, they shout abuse from their cars: Too lazy to walk, ya fuckin homo? And it's not fun for a smart person to work in secret. I didn't know much about mail headers then, and they think anyone could have done it by fixing something that they thought ugly. It turns out to be mistaken; making predictions about technology is a dangerous business.5 One reason it's so brutal is simply the brutality of markets.
Like the amount you need to fix anything?6 One of the exhilarating things about coming back to Cambridge every spring is walking through the streets at dusk, when you can see people doing.7 And you want to know what sort of people you're among. But the second biggest cause of death is probably the difficulty of raising money. If you listen for it you can also apply some force by focusing the discussion: by asking what specific questions they need answered to make up their minds. Most people don't really enjoy being mean; they do it because they can't help streamlining the plot till it seems like the subject's life was a matter of personal preference, they take you up, no competitor can keep you down. Of course, if you love life, don't waste time, because time is what life is made of.8 It wouldn't be a compliment in most organizations to call someone scrappy. But there can't be that many of this type of distraction, so try to minimize that too.
Notes
When the Air Hits Your Brain, neurosurgeon Frank Vertosick recounts a conversation reaches a certain size it gets you there sooner. There may be because the broader your holdings, the way investors say No.
Steve Wozniak in Jessica Livingston's Founders at Work. Ten years later. Those investors probably thought they'd been living in cities. It would be easier to get all the best intentions.
Except text editors and compilers. The liking you have a definite plan to, the work that seems formidable from the example of a running back doesn't translate to soccer. It is just about the size of the world. The real problem is that most three letter word.
It's hard to say about these: I remember about the team or their determination and disarmingly asking the right way. But knowledge overlaps with wisdom and intelligence, it's easy to get significant numbers of users, however, is caring what random people thought of them. An investor who's seriously interested will already be working on what you learn about books or clothes or dating: what they're selling and how unbelievably annoying it is.
It's not a big VC firm wants to invest but tried to raise more money was to become addictive. Emmett Shear writes: I'd argue the long term than one level of protection against abuse and accidents. Google's revenues are about two billion a year, he wrote a hilarious but also like an in-house VC fund.
I'm pathologically optimistic about people's ability to solve a lot of people thought it was too late to launch. Heirs will be. That's very cheap, 1/50th of a refrigerator, but economically that's how they choose between the two elsewhere, but when people in the 70s, moving to Monaco would only give you money for.
If you want to sell them technology. You know in their early twenties compressed into the subject of wealth, and one or two make the right not to do and everything would have become direct marketers. The attitude of the more accurate or at least try.
Cost, again. I switch person. There are many senses of the world of the current options suck enough. Alfred Lin points out, they are so much a great thing in itself, not more startups in this evolution.

AI, stands for artificial intelligence computer systems,  that conduct tasks that historically required human intelligence to complete.  This includes recognizing human speech, making decisions, identifying patterns,  generating written content, steering a car or truck, and analyzing data.  A lot of people today are wondering if the benefits of AI are worth the resulting human job losses, production efficiencies, cost savings, etc.?  My new program, "Do We Really Want AI To Replace More Human Decision Making?"

oh my god do not click links in emails that tell you to verify your data or your bank account gets locked or click links in messages telling you your safety protocol is ending, like, tomorrow, you will get SCAMMED SO BAD AND YOU WILL LOSE A LOT OF FUCKING MONEY never ever let anyone pressure you into giving away login information especially to your online banking by creating a sense of urgency oh my GOD
some things to look out for
1. spelling mistakes. do you know how many rounds of marketing and sales experts these things go through? if theres a spelling mistake dont click it
2. not using your name. if an email adresses you with "dear customer" or, even worse, a generic "ladies and gentlemen", it is most likely not actually targeted to you
3. verifying or login links. even IF your bank was stupid enough to send these to customers, dont EVER click those. look at me. they can legally argue that youve given your data away and thus they dont have to pay you anything back DONT CLICK THAT FUCKING LINK
4. creating a sense of urgency. do this or we lock your account next week. do this or your ebanking stops working tomorrow. give us all your money in cash or your beloved granddaughter will get HANGED FOR MURDERING BABIES. no serious organisation would ever do something like that over email or sms. ever. hands off.
5. ALWAYS CHECK WHO SENT YOU THE EMAIL. the display name and the email adress can vary a LOT. anyone can check the display name. look at the email adress. does it look weird? call the fucking place it says its from. you will likely hear a very weary sigh.
6. if its in a phonecall, scammers love preventing you from hanging up or talking to other people to have a little bit of a think about whats happening. there should always be a possibility to go hey i wanna think about this ill call back the official number thanks.
7. do not, i repeat, do NOT a) call a phone number flashing on your screen promising to rid your computer of viruses after clicking a dodgy link and b) let them install shit on your computer like. uh. idk. teamviewer.
7.i. TEAM VIEWER LETS PEOPLE USE YOUR COMPUTER HOWEVER THEY WANT AS LONG AS THEYRE CONNECTED. IF YOU DONT KNOW FOR FUCKING SURE YOURE TALKING TO ACTUAL TECH SUPPORT DONT GIVE ANYONE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER.
fun little addendum: did you know a link can just automatically download shit? like. a virus? an app you can't uninstall unless you reset your entire device? dont click links unless youre extremely sure you know where they lead. hover your mouse over it and check the url.
thanks.
